Inga Freyjasdottir It's fully winter now, the lands in the grip on the cold and ice. But there's nothing quite like a winter sky, the stars so far above, brighter somehow in the cold air.

Inga is outside in the cold, watching the unfamiliar stars, huddled in her cloak. It's still cold. The hearth fire is low and more wood needs to be cut. That's not exactly her domain though. Her arms are folded beneath her cloak, neck craned to look above to the circle of sky, her expression thoughtful.
Harry Dresden     "'And in the darkest of nights, the first mages and the first sages created the first of spells. Lux.'" A glowing orb of illumination forms behind Inga's head. "'Because they knew that the light and the fire could drive back the dark.'"
A kiss on the top of Inga's head, and then there's a Harry moving to wrap his mate up in his arms, offering up more warmth as his orb vanishes.
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga smiles, leaning back against him. He'll make a good headrest. "I wonder if I could learn that spell. Useful, not to have to light something on fire in order to see in the dark," she comments. "You'll ruin your night vision with that, though. Harder to see the stars," she commented.

"I was just wondering...what are the constellations here? I've been living under these stars but I don't know them. I don't know any of their names or stories. That seems so strange to me," she sighs. "I know very little about this world at all. I know very little about most worlds it seems, even my own."
Harry Dresden     "Mmmmh, I know. S'why I put it away. And it's not that had of a spell. You just have to know how to make the air go 'poof'. It's like a little speck of fire you float around." Harry grins and slides his legs to either side of her body, and quietly curls up. "I... I guess we'd have to ask the locals. I mean, we could make up our own like they did in the long long ago."
Inga Freyjasdottir "But they must have names, stories already...yes, I should as the villagers. Or maybe Bedivere knows more. It is simply...strange. I came here because it felt familiar to me, but I have realized...it isn't, not really. I can trick myself into thinking I am back in my world, in my time....then a giant robot crashes into my yard, or something like that," she says. Yeah, that happened.

"Did you feel strange, when you first learned of the multiverse?" she asks, tilting her head back to look up at him, comfortably nestled between his long legs.
Harry Dresden     Harry laughs a bit, and leans down to press a kiss to Inga's head, holding her close and wrapping arms around her chest. "Well, look a it this way. I... I woke up one morenign to find myself in a palce that was just as filled with spooks, bump in the nights, and monsters as home was. Maybe more so. But people still needed help. I still neded help." He huffs out a breath. "It brought me you. That's good."
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga nuzzles against his perpetual stubble. "Yes...I suppose that hasn't changed. Were you very shocked though? How did it happen?" she asks. Funny that they'd never discussed this before.

Inga smiles, resting her arms over his. "Yes, in that the gods have been kind." Bout damn time.
Harry Dresden     Harry grunts. "A job. Tracked some poor kid through the wrong door and out I came through to the Multiverse. I mean, the Council had known for a while before we unified, but that was a pretty big surprise to the world's governments. There's still fallout going back home. But no. For me it was just... work."
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga laughs. "I suppose for you it was easier. You already knew about all the strange things that most people had forgotten or no longer believed in. Just another job," she replies, unfolding her arms to rest her hands on his thighs. "I had seen strange things. I had the sight, after all...but I could never have imagined some of the things I've seen. Sometimes...it just...I don't know. It's incredible to me how.../powerful/ some people are. The things they can do," she continues, shaking her head.

"But then...I suppose I must seem that way to others. With the Sight and the...Bees. Ridiculous isn't it?" Inga shivers involuntarily. Cold might not kill her but she can certainly still feel it.

"Harry? If I saw something about you...about your future or..something you didn't know. Would you ever want me to tell you?" she asks, looking up again.
Harry Dresden     Harry... can feel the trepedation in his Viking Lady. Can feel her worry and chill. There's a little sigh, and he shifts a bit to take a better hold of Inga, a broad hand spreading to splay fingers out over her belly and just rub. "Yeah there's frightening people out there and there's worlds that are caked in death and horror and I just... try not to dwell on it. I mean, I think about it a lot. I'm still alive because of that. But..."

"My future is in flux, Inga. Even if you could get a good handle on things, who knows how accurate it would be?"
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga nods, placing her hand over his, intertwining their fingers. They're cold. She should really be wearing gloves.

"But there are some things that I can be reasonably sure of. Things I have seen time and time again...a strong path. I want to know if you want me to tell you something, if I am reasonably sure about it, and if I feel that something can be done to change it or...well, I would like to know when you would want me to divulge what I see, and when I should absolutely keep it to myself."
Harry Dresden     Strong path.

Harry sighs. A little moment of hesitation, and he murmurs. "What do you see the most? Like, the most confirmations."
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga closes her eyes, taking a deep breath and letting it out slow. "It could be that in the telling I change the outcome. When I speak it, the paths will change...but sometimes they always come to the same end. In the chill of the winter air I feel her grip on you tighten...there are many forks but they all seem to lead there.... You, beholden to Mab, sworn to her service. Winter Knight," she says, voice quiet.

She sounds startled then. "Oh! There they go, paths changing, scattering like birds," she shivers again, shaking.
Harry Dresden     And suddenly those stars seem so much dimmer, so much farther away as Inga speaks those last words. Harry's teeth click together in frustration. "I... hng-"
"That's not something I really want to think about, you know. I mean... She's... offered. I'm not saying yes."
Inga Freyjasdottir Inga shakes her head, taking a deep breath and then another. "You haven't said yes yet. Maybe you never will. Maybe my telling you will change the end...but I have seen a time you have said yes. When it seemed like there was no other option. That is what she will do. She wants it, for whatever reason. She will back you into a corner until you feel like you must say yes. Perhaps it is your destiny to do so. She is like a god, yes? The gods, when they choose...they are not gentle," Inga continues softly, reaching for his hand again, squeezing it with her thin, cold fingers.
