Alden      Alden had been worried about getting stronger after his encounter with the Tyranids... At the time, he decided to contact people he knew, which was... not a lot, and after recalling a certain one had engineering knowledge, he decided to give him a call!.
Taro     It was an unexpected call, to be sure. Still, since the caller was one of Kari's associates, the call was taken and the request of help accepted. (His own curiosity was no doubt a factor in this decision.)
Thus, sometime later, one humanform android in a priest's cassock steps out of a recently arrived shuttle, a tool satchel slung over one shoulder. On the other shoulder is...well, something small and twinkling like a slightly overbright blue-purple Christmas bulb. Being mindful of his cargo, Taro glances around him from left to right, looking for Alden.
Alden      Alden smiles as he waited for the humanoid, tail twitching slowly behind him!. When he spots Taro getting down, he begins to wave at him, despite being the only one there!. "Taro!" he chirps, moving closer after a moment, curious about the 'gear' but the digimon does not ask much about it, simply wanting to greet him, "Did you hae trouble getting here?"
Taro     That does make him easier to spot, doesn't it? Taro doesn't smile, but he does raise his gloved hand up about halfway in response to the wave. "Hello, Alden," he greets in pleasant tones. "The flight was a little bumpy, but otherwise it wasn't bad."
Now that he's closer, Alden can see that the light perched on his shoulder is actually a person - less human-looking than her companion, bobbed white hair tucked under a nurse's cap, white tunic and purple leggings that just seem to trail off...like an incomplete image. 'Hello!' she warbles in an obviously electronic voice.
"Ah. This is Myrrh, one of my cyber-elves," he both introduces and explains. "She asked to come along, and I thought she could be of help."
Alden      Alden does not seem too weirded out about the small, floating... creature atop Taro's shoulder, but then again, there are digimon so many kinds! He tilts his head a bit at the introduction, waving towards it as well with a smile. "Hi there, I am Alden." he greets the cyber elf.

He grins, "Nice to meet you Myrrh." he says, before turning towards Taro, "She is cute." he offers with a grin.
Taro     Though she can't exactly blush, Myrrh holds her hands up to her cheeks as if she was at the compliment. 'Nice to meet you too,' she warbles.
Taro makes a quietly amused sound at the exchange. Then, to business. "You said that you needed help in setting up a training regimen program for yourself?" he asks, then makes a small gesture for Alden to lead the way.
Alden      The Gabumon smiles and wags his tail, "Yes... I want to prepare... I realize I need to be come stronger if I want to finish my goals... to help save my world." he says softly, rubbing the back of his head, "I am not enterily sure my body works... like other creatures, but I do realize training helps." he says, showign him his D-arc, at the status screen, "I wonder how many people can see a number showing them the results of training." he says with a grin.

He guides Taro and company near the lack, to a large, vacant spot, not too far from his temporary house. There was a rather crude group of targets, an agility course. (that thing dogs use, the sticks standing so he has to weave through them), and a completely frozen burlap sac with a target drawn on it.
Taro     "I see..." Taro's eyes linger on the D-Arc as Alden shows it to him. There's still curisoity there, though perhaps a little milder than when he was shown it during the picnic. Or perhaps he's just hiding it better this time. "I know of a few devices that humans use to track their fitness, but organics are difficult to measure so precisely."
Whatever he was expecting, a makeshift obstacle course in vacant lot wasn't it. He arches an eyebrow at the layout for a long moment, then turns that gaze toward Alden. "I can see why you asked." Tone markedly neutral.
Alden Alden is... very embarassed about it. That is for certain, "Yeah... I am not very good at building things..." he says softly, rubbing the back of his head nervously.
Taro     "Mm." That's all Taro says, if that counts as saying anything, as he turns back to regard the training field. His brow furrows slightly as he looks from one side of the lot to ther other, noting more precisely this time all that is inside that not exactly defined boundry.
"Must you exercise here in the physical world in order for it to have any effect," he asks, "or does training from within the cyberworld carry over to your physical form?" It's a genuine question and asked as such.
Alden      Alden blinks at the question, "Well... not enterily sure what the cyberworld is, but if it is like the digital world, I have to say yes, it does." he says, before adding, "I am made of data... would even be edited I'd guess, if someone managed to mess with my D-Arc while I am inside of it." he says casually.
Taro     "Perhaps we're using two different terms to describe the same thing?" Taro says, tone making it more of a question than a statement. He raises his left hand palms up as he goes on. "The cyberworld, or cyberspace, are what we call the non-physical world that exists within the vast computer networks of the more technologically-advanced parts of the multiverse..."
'Oh! So he's like me!' Myrrh interjects.
"Mm, so he is," Momentary amusement creeps into his voice at his little companion's interruption. "Though it seems he's more solid than you without your ORBIT system." Then, he returns to his train of thought. "As I was saying...living programs such as cyber-elves and AIs such as myself can exist there and interact with the cyberworld with ease. Some of us choose to exist solely in the cyberworld, though others prefer to interact directly with the physical world as well."
Alden Alden rubs the back of his head, "Well, my digital world... in my home, you entered via portals, humans would get inside too... but maybe it is like you say!" he says, sounding excited to learn more about how his own... body and such work. He listens curiously, rubbing his chin, "So you think perhaps we can set up some kind of virtual training place?" he says softly.
Taro     "Perhaps similar if not exactly the same," is Taro's educated guess, based on the scant information he's been provided. It sounds like an expedition into the multiversal network is in order...later. Let's keep to the matter at hand.
"That may be easier and more efficient," he answers Alden's question with a nod. "If you'd still prefer to train in the physical world, even then it might be less expensive for you to purchase what they call a 'gym membership' at a gynmasium or firness center."
Alden Alden certainly might find such an expedition interesting!, if offered of course. He ponders for a few moments, "Well, not sure gyms can really help with the kind of things I need, unless they have targets I can break, and they don't mind large quadrupeds or really, tall bipedal wolves there." he says, then again, maybe there are such gyms around, he never really asked.
Taro     "Perhaps not here," Taro shrugs mildly, "but the larger cities in the multiverse cater to all manner of persons." No doubt Alden in any of his forms would get more than a second glance in some places in Urbania. "For now, though, let's build a training program that you can use in your ava..ah, digital form." His gaze falls again to rest on the D-Arc on the digimon's belt.
Alden      Alden nods a few times, rubbign his chin again, "I will check on that." he says softly, his tail giving flicks behind him, and smiling, "Thank you for your help Taro." he says, before noticing the glance, holding the device in hsi hands, "I know that I can connect this to a computer, my Tamer told me, but I am not sure how that works."
Taro     "Does it need to be a specific type of computer?" Taro asks, "Or will any network-capable computer do?"
Myrrh asks a question of her own. 'What's a Tamer?'
Alden      Alden tilts his head, "i am not sure." he says, grasping the D-ark, fiddling with an option, and pressing the up button, a hatch opening on the top exposing a data port. "I think it simply connects via cable with a computer." he says softly. The question from Myrrh makes him let out a sigh, "Hmm, they... are humans that are connected to some digimon, they help eachother, normally the tamer is the one that holds the digivice..." he points to the device he had in one hand, "And uses it to help his digimon partner get stronger."
Taro     "And yet you hold your own." Any questions Taro has about Alden's Tamer are left unspoken.
He watches Alden as he fiddles with the D-Arc, then, after a moment he reaches to unsnap the buckles holding the flaps of his satchel shut. "I'm not sure if I have something compatible with me, but let us see."
Alden      Alden smiles sadly, "Well, I kinda have to, at least for the time being... to be fair... I am... kind of damaged." he says softly, both to Taro and the Cyber elf. He watches the satchel curiously, "I wish i would back home and get some stuff from there, but that might be tricky until i get stronger." he says softly.
Taro     'Then you asked the right person!' Myrrh warbles. 'Em Taro rescued and repaired us. If you're damaged, I bet he can help you too!'
Taro hints a smile, barely a curling of his lips. "By the grace of the CyberGoddess, yes." He flips back the flap to rummage inside the satchel, but then finding this too much a bother to do one handed, he sets it on the ground so that he can used both hands. "Do you mean that you're trapped here in the physical world, Alden, or that that you've been cut off from your part of the digital world?"
Alden      Alden smiles, "Well, for now... the damaged parts on my code work for my advantage... I think at least part of what... deals with my connection to the D-Arc is... messed up, normally I should not be able to use it on my own." he explains, "It's like for some reason it thinks I am my own digimon or something." he says softly.

He shakes his head, "Nah, for now the damage means... I need my digivice more than... I used to do, can't do all the stuff I used to without it." he begins, "And... well, at least the portal I used to get into the multiverse leads to... an area already consumed by... the thing threatening my home world." he begins. He perks up when he mentions being able to fix him. "Maybe I can find out how the cards work and write one of my own."
Taro     "Broken in a useful way, then." Judging by his tone of voice, Taro seems to not consider this a bad thing. "Sometimes we do not work in the way that our creators considered or intended."
He finally finds what he was rummaging for, and pulls out what looks like what could be a scanner or tester or really odd remote control. It's a molded plastic rectangle with some lights at the top with a small screen underneath, with buttons directly below that, and on the sides a pair of ports for which he's already pulling out some cables. "May I see if one of these will fit your device?" he asks.
Alden Alden nods a bit at that, "Yeah." he says softly, smiling to Taro and the cute nurse Cyber elf. The device makes him tilt his head, looking at it curiously, "What's that?" he asks softly, before looking at the cables, and then at his D-arc. He nods slowly, "I think that is ok." he says.
Taro     Myrrh alights from Taro's shoulder, since all this rummaging is making it hard to stay seated, and hovers between him and Alden to watch.
"It's a testing device," he explains, which is technically true. that it does more is something he simply neglects to mention. "I use it to test for compatibility between devices, and for any errors or other problems with an I/O port." After giving the D-Arc another once-over, he selects a couple of cables that seem the most likely to fit. One end is plugged into the port on the tester before he tries to gently plug the other side into Alden's device.
Alden Alden nods a few times, smiling to the cyber elf and raising one hand, as if trying to pet her. He seems to accept the explanation about the device, he is not particularly savyy about technology, despite being born in the computer world. "Ok." he says, seeming a bit tense, it IS important, but... he allows the connection. The cable seems to fit properly on the device port.
Taro     To most people, a cyber-elf feels fuzzy and a bit staticy, like a bit of dry wool in winter. Myrrh giggles a bit at the attention.
"Ah. There we go." The connection fits, but he double-checks that it's fitted properly before he proceeds with swtiching on his own device. Said device's screen flashes in what's obviously a startup sequence, then settles on a menu. He cycles through the options using the buttons under the screen. The options are obliquely labeled, but apparently thinks like 'opt1' and 'DevTest-B' mean something to the techpriest.
What Taro neglected to mention is that he's also looking to see whether he can draw any information about the device via a diagnostics setting. He's looking only, not meddling more than that.
Alden      Once the other device boots up and begins the diagnostic, the D-Arc's screen lights up, like it happens when he presses buttons, clearly showing that something is happening. Alden touches some buttons on his side, "I think it is connected." he says softly, rubbing his chin. Surprisingly, the device seems fairly... insecure, responding to the ocmmand with the appropiate info. It is easy for the test to pick up the specs, which might or not make sense, (what use is knowing it has a 'pentium' cpu if you have no clue what it is, right?).

A few odd details include, no info about battery status, or even the system acknowledging it has a battery to begin with, and the fact that most of the data in teh device is easily accesible, exactly what is in that data depends if Taro tries to copy files and read them or just check on how 'open' the device is, and gather info.
Taro     Ah, if only he could perform a proper data dump back in his lab in Neo Arcadia, or in one of SHODAN's specialized analysis suites. The portable scanner-tester is much more limited. This, plus the fact that he's aware that Alden is bound to the device in ways he does not (yet) fully know or understand, makes him decide to simply collect the basic diagnostic information for now. No doubt he can create other opportunities.
"It is," Taro confirms. "It appears the port is working properly, which means it should be able to connect with a computer with the proper cables. It also means that uploading a training program into your D-Arc should be a simple task. Later, if you'd like to try, we can see if you can connect to another part of the cyberworld using your D-Arc as a bridge."
Alden The digimon smiles, petting the Cyber elf again and not quite noticing the spying in the device, maybe he'd tell i fsome data was 'added' but, that's not the case. He smiles when told the machine worked, "Good, was worried the D-Arc might be a bit messed up too, but seems to be working fine." he says, "I think that sounds like a good idea." he says happily. "Thank you for testing it."
Taro     "You're welcome." Taro taps a button to save the information, then moves to shut the scanner down. "I'll need to fabricate multiverse-compatible cables for you, but that shouldn't take much time or trouble. You can come to my lab to pick them up when they're ready, or if that's inconvenient, I can have them delivered here to you."
Myrrh grins at Alden in an I knew he could help! sort of way.
Alden      Alden grins and closes the hatch on the device, "I will call you later during the week to check on it ok?" he asks softly, tail lashing slowly, "I appreciate all the help."
