Mandy Rose     Saturday. While most people in the Multiverse would probably just take weekends easy - especially children! - Mandy Rose is hard at work in her basement. Her worktable is covered with a waterproof tarp, while Mandy herself is actually in the corner with the laundry, dressed in the once-white, tattered summer dress she always wears when experimenting for some reason. The washing machine has been laboriously dragged away from the wall, and the girl is currently in the midst of disconnecting it from the water supply.

One hopes that she remembered to turn the water off first...

"C'mon... you stubborn little..." she grumbles to herself as she tries to turn a half-rusted nut.
Hana     Hana climbs the washing machine while Mandy is working on it. This takes about four tries, with at least two of them making a gross 'splut' noise from the monster's gooey nature. It eventually finds a nice perch so it can observe Mandy's activities, staring down at the girl as she works. Fascinated by her behavior, the little bush creature is attuned to her need to tinker and learn. And it's probably for the best that she doesn't try to help. The last time she tried to help, she got angry and tried to eat one of the wrenches.

It probably took half an hour to clean that wrench afterwards.

"Rrrrr!" the monster vocalizes, trying to be encouraging, even wiggling its nubby arms around. Slosh slosh goes its insides.
Mandy Rose     That encouragement seems to do it - with one last grunt of effort, the barefoot girl brings the wrench in her hands down and pops the rusted bolt free! ... Why is she always barefoot anyway? That's weird.

"Ha! Got it!" she laughs with gleee, prying the hose out of the back of the washing machine. And a bunch of water promptly flows out, making the girl leap back in startlement! But the flow stops quickly. It was just the water still in the hose! Whoops, she forgot to drain it.

"Oh, well, the floor's concrete anyway, it'll be fine..." she mumbles, feet splashing in the slowly-spreading pool of water. "Okay! Now..." The girl leans over to explore the back of the machine, searching for how the thing stays together. "Let's see how you come apart..."
Hana     Hana, deciding she needed to switch its task, lept from the machine and onto the floor. She impacted a bit like water ballon in the puddle. And then she opened her big mouth and started trying to lick up all the water by herself. Slurp slurp slurp slurp slurp--

She's actually kind of effective, being a plant monster. It doesn't stop it from looking weird and gross.
Mandy Rose     Mandy is caught somewhat off guard by Hana deciding to be a mop! She stares at the plantlike blob for a few moments, before reaching out to pat her on the... top. "...Good Hana," she praises, sounding slightly weirded out. Hana can just make out an odd twinkling in Mandy's eyes, before she goes back to the back of the washing machine.

"Aha!" she crows his triumph, before leaping up to retrieve more tools. With some work, and a lot of noise, she manages to get the 'shell' of the washing machine completely off. The aliminum hits the ground with a 'clang' as Mandy doesn't even attempt to stop it. Throwing down the... hammer and chisel?? she was using, she immediately begins to examine the guts of the machine. "Okay so... here's the pump... this is the motor... where does the detergent come in? Hmm..."
Hana     The little plant monster burbles into the water when praised for her behavior! (+1 Kindness!) Hana stands up and proudly grins at Mandy, but her expression softens as if she noticed something in her owner's eyes. The strange shine there didn't seem quite right to the little plant beast... but she relents the feeling when Mandy gets right back to work. Hana climbs into the guts of the machine to start moving things around to help Mandy get a better look at what's in there. Ultimately there's not a lot to see inside of a washing machine, unless it's one of those really high tech ones.
Mandy Rose     This machine, alas, is not really high tech! It's pretty basic really. "...Ah! Here it is..." Mandy is grinning ear to ear as she starts to carefully disassemble the washing machine. She lays them on the floor neatly.

Soon, the washing machine has been reduced to its component parts. Mandy is sitting on the floor, frowning at it. "...Something's missing, right? This doesn't make sense..." Gone is her eager grin of discovery.
Hana     "Uhhhhhh..."

    "Does it need more jam?"

Hana thinks things can be improved with more jam. This has been a thing ever since Mandy made a sandwich for her that one day. "Maybe... maybe duct tape?" She really seems to be trying really hard, by her intense effort just to form the words and think of solutions.
Mandy Rose     Mandy frowns a bit. That weird twinkle in her eyes seems to flare a moment - then it's gone. She grumbles. "Guh I don't know..." And then her stomach grumbles. "...Jam sounds good though. Do you wanna go get some lunch Hana?" she asks, ruffling the little blob's leaves. "Maybe it'll come to us when we've got some food in our bellies!"

She really means 'maybe it'll come to me'. But she likes to include Hana.
Hana     "YAY FOOD!!!"

And then Hana rolls away from the dismantled machine like a ball, and then scrambles up the stairs as fast as she can. Which isn't very fast, because she keeps getting part way up and falling back down before she figures out she needs to be careful. It's really good she has no bones to break.
Mandy Rose     With a melodious laugh, Mandy follows after Hana, scooping the little monster in her arms and carrying her up the stairs with her.

Soon, the two are seated at the kitchen counter, with PB&J sammiches laid out before them. Her mother made them! She didn't even make a fuss about the state Mandy's clothes were in.
Hana     Sandwiches? Hana loves sandwiches. All of the sandwiches. It might require some scolding to keep her from eating anything that's set in front of her... at least until Mandy's mom picks up the bush monster and sets it back on the floor. "Blurp?" It's handed a sandwich, which is consumed all in one big drooling bite.

    "Jammmmm."
Mandy Rose     Mandy chews on her own sandwich, giggling softly at Hana's antics. "Something wrong with that washing machine. I'm pretty sure? I can see it in my mind, there's a... a gap there. But I... I didn't misplace anything, right? I checked four times!"

The girl reaches out to gently stroke a hand against Hana's leafy top. "Am I going crazy?"
Hana     "Maybe it needs something new. Something that wasn't there before."

Hana's insight is surprisingly mellow, now that she has some food to digest. "Fill the gap with imaginification." She damn near slurs that word. She hugs the petting hand, clinging to the girl's fingers affectionately.
Mandy Rose     "Something new?" She chews thoughtfully on her sammich, resting her chin on her palm. "Well, of course the uh... the power of imagination is the greatest power humans and monsters possess... But what sort of thing could I try..."

There's a pause. "Hey, you know how mom keeps complaining about how much water we use? I wonder if she'd be happy if I made the washing machine use less water..." She has a slight grin. "...Wait, I think I've got it!" The girl leaps to her feet, leaving the half0finished sandwich in her plate - likely to be snarfed up by Hana. "I'm sure I've got all the pieces! Oh man this is going to be -awesome-!" There's that light again.
Hana     Hana scarfs down the entire half-eaten sandwich, and burps afterward. Then the weird 'ferocious' creature tries to follow Mandy, but has some trouble, what with having eaten a little too much solid food and not digested it properly yet. But she is DETERMINED to follow her Master to see what she's come up with, even if she doesn't really understand what she's going to do.
Mandy Rose     One Hana reaches the basement, Mandy is already at her work bench, fitting together some... objects. Hana really has no idea what they are beyond their shape - cylinders and rings and long coily wires! "So I was thinking, you don't NEED all that water in the washing machine to wash everything, right? You just need to give the water a high surface area! And to do THAT why not just increase its volume? So..."

Mandy quickly races over to the washing machine and sets about putting it back together - with her little doodad attached. "I mean, obviously you need to increase the, uh... solvent-ness of the water... I think. Something like that!" She has no idea what she's doing does she.
Hana     Hana begins to wonder if all of this is even safe, at that moment. She stares at the washing machine in the way one might stare at a mysterious demon... would it do something bad if it was changed? Something just didn't feel right about all of this. The feeling she was getting from Mandy didn't feel right. And then the plant monster moved over to help Mandy, just to be nearby and help put it back together. Her childish energy was gone, replaced with a certain gentle touch, trying to make sure everything fits together just right.

It doesn't feel like it's fitting together right.

    It's making Hana very worried.
Mandy Rose     There's a flash of unnaturally white... electricity? It's only visible for a moment as Mandy connects her little doodad to the pump and sets the pump back into its casing. Soon, the tumbler is replaced, along with the heating elements... And then Mandy works on getting the casing back onto the machine.

She's working up quite a sweat! This is hard work. "This is going to be so awesome," she repeats a few times as she works.
Hana     Washing machines shouldn't spark. Hana knows this. They are water things, electricity is bad with water things. She's seen enough video games! But she only makes a little worried whine and helps put the casing into place. She starts to tense up, all the flowers on her body wilting, her eye squinting. She frowns at the machine, expecting something to go wrong... she's coiled like a spring. But why?
Mandy Rose     Mandy connects the water supply and then grabs a random load of laundry and hurls it into the machine. "No time like the present!" Grinning madly, she adds the detergent - a little slap-dash, honestly, not her usual careful consideration at all - and sets the machine on a wash cycle!

It shudders. Oh yeah something bad is about to happen... But Mandy doesn't seem to notice.
Hana     The shudder has Hana getting between the machine and Mandy. She growls at it. It's /wrong/. It's not supposed to do that. She's not sure why, but something in her says that.
Mandy Rose     And then the inevitable happens.

The inevitable explosion is enough to knock Mandy clear off her feet and several meters backwards. Hot, soapy water splatters all over the basement, and the wall behind the washing machine IS NOT THERE ANY MORE.

Pieces of washing machine litter the basement. It's a miracle nothing hit Mandy! The girl is on her back, looking decidedly dazed by the whole ordeal.
Hana     Nothing hit Mandy because Hana has a piece of aluminium casing sticking out of her face. She's splattered up against one of the walls. Her nubby little hands grasp at the casing and she rips out the shard, a dribbling of goo falling around her. She rasps and wheezes after that, shuddering and shaking. Her eye was damaged, and she can't properly close it. It's not as gory as a human getting hit, but it looks painful.

She tries to get up, but can't. She's too hurt.
Mandy Rose     Mandy sits up, rubbing her head. She smacked it against the floor as she fell, although not too hard. She blinks her eyes a few times before she notices Hana. Her eyes widen, and she scrambles over to the little plant-creature.

"H-Hana?" She picks her monster up gently. "O-oh God, I... a-are you..."
Hana     "Hrp...!" the creature wheezes, pained just by being picked up at all, but the touch is so soft that it doesn't hurt it any further. It places its nubby paws on its face, touching at the oozing wound and trying to hold it closed. A bunch of sap-colored slime drips over Mandy's arms, evidently the monster's blood.
Mandy Rose     Mandy stares down at her little monster. "Oh God no, please... no, H-Hana, you're going to be... you're going to be all right! Okay? I'm going to get you some help and you're going to get better and... I-I'm so sorry..." The girl stands up, looking frantic. Her eyes dart around until she finds her radio. "What's the... emergency medical... frequency..."
