Sigrun Stem Antichthon is not like Earth, and yet like Earth. It's got a population of over seven billion people, it's got all the countries one might expect from Earth in the twentyfirst century. Including the United States. The United States of America has, on its atlantic coast, the major cities, including New York City.

The differences don't become apparent until people start to look closer. New York City is a densely populated urban area, with at its heart tall spires made out of traditional masonry and wood interspersed with faintly glowing crystals.

The roads are filled with horseless carriages, its port district full of massive wooden ships, sailing without apparent source of locomotion. Through the skies approach massive double-layered carpets, passengers sitting in long, and tight-fitting as they descend from long journeys.

On a coast just off the island, a massive animated brass woman waves welcoming to incoming ships with her brightly lit torch. She bears a crown of light, with seven distinct beams coming from her head.

This all, and more, might draw the attention of pirates. It also makes it very familiar, and very alien, to those familiar with New York City.
Nobeard     Ships without a source of power? Well an Old-fashioned one will be pulling into port! Without... permission. It's a sailing ship, and it's under sail, but half of it is made of stone, and the bow of the ship is dominated by two crystalline eye structures. One of them appears patched over, which might lend meaning to the name of the ship scrawled on the side: 'The One-Eyed Jack.'

There are probably rules about trying to dock without permission and the like. Under other conditions, the 'Jack might actually follow these procedures. Today, the crew doesn't care about that, they're charging full speed ahead toward the docks. At the ship's wheel - and it does have a classic wheel in plain view - is a tall man with a handsome cut, carrying a sword at his side. "All right, boys, grab what you can and get out! We're making this one a quick run!"

Of course there may be naval resistance, so some of the crew is staying on. Yet two boats with some kind of motors splash down, carrying lizardmen and little yapping lizardlike kobolds, along with a hulking huge shape under a tarp toward the docks, aiming for any valuable shipments that have come in recently.

It's not too coordinated though. They don't appear to have a SPECIFIC target today.
Sigrun Stem The port is not wholly undefended, the coast guard sends several warnings to back off and when those are ignored and pirates start stealing stuff, they close in, shooting both arrows and ballista bolts. They have no clue what they're facing, but they are well-trained men doing their jobs best they.

Sigrun was nearby, investigating a report of some psychic rats in one of the dock warehouses when the commotion begins, and she doesn't wait to respond. She takes up a good position with decent cover. A lot closer than she'd like, within a few hundred feet, and starts taking aim at the tall man with the handsome cut.

Three little red energy circles appear in front of her eye, and she takes careful aim at the man's head, wind flowing around her arrow, and then lets loose. The arrow is fast, speeding up to near supersonic speeds before reaching the intended point of impact.
Athela Valemore     A good knight always returns favors, even when they are not specifically asked for.

Sigrun Stem was one of the people to respond when last Bayern needed help. It was only fair for Athela Valemore, sworn knight of the tidal guardian Keldeo, to do the same when word of trouble comes from the hunter's own world. Especially when she could use the fact that it was a city next to a large body of water to her advantage. One of the advantages of being a Tide Caller was being able to breath underwater, and while her marine mount could not do the same he most definately could hold his breath long enough to initiate the appropriate response in kind.

At first it's no more than a few ripples in the water coming up behind one of the boats that have departed towards the shipping docks. But as it closes in upon the craft the waters actually part, spreading into low rooster-tail sprays at the sides as the armor-clad Samurott actually breaks the surface. The young woman sits upright upon his back even as she draws her sword and holds it before her dramatically. "This is the one and only warning, ye nautical knaves. Cease and desist post haste, or feel the rising storm of mine divine blade!"
Nobeard     "BOMBARDS AWAY!" The man yells out as the coast guard approaches. The pirates won't cry if there are casualties, but too much murder is bad for the rep, so they actually try to avoid needless death. This means that anti-personell rounds aren't used, and instead the thundering boom of the cannonfire is splashing into the water or aimed at the hulls, not the crew. That may or may not be a comfort.

Then the arrow comes. With seemingly supernatural senses, the man jerks to the side at the last moment... but it still tears into his shoulder, thunking deeply and making him grunt. Despite the sword at his side, he snatches up a spear resting nearby as he looks for the culprit, snapping off the arrow with a practiced motion. "SCARLET! We have a sniper!"

"Got it, Jack," the nearby woman with the bow answers. She's wearing a... veil, for some reason, one that ripples oddly even when the breeze is in a different direction. With one smooth motion, she returns fire... and while the arrow isn't supersonic, it travels MUCH farther than an arrow should. It is, fortunately, not one of her poisoned arrows.
Raquna Sheldon Since hearing about the Multiverse, Raquna's wanderlust has led her to... Not as many places as she would have hoped to visit. Getting all the paperwork done just to be able to leave Etria with the Library's backing is tricky! But now that she has...

What better way than to pick a place at random and just go there to see what it's like? As luck would have it, Antichthon's New York City has been chosen as Raquna's first locale to visit! A bit of cursory research means that she's here not in her full combat-prepared adventuring gear, but a lighter traveling outfit that means she's traveling sans heavy armor.

Also, she has a baseball cap on. She has no idea what sports team is even represente don it, but she's not going to complain about being one hat, fifty credits, and five mugs of beer richer. Stepping out of one of the bars facing the water, Raquna wquirks an eyebrow slowly at the sight of all sorts of lizardy creatures disembarking and being accosted by what she can only assume are the local guards.

"Ah, what's this...? Kick their asses!" It's... Probably not too clear who she's rooting for right now.
Tomoe Tomoe had been on standby today and call to deploy had gone out. It didn't take the Salamander long to step out of the warp gate spread her wings and take flight she was clealry itnerested in what she could do to help here as she comes on the scene. It looks like there's a full out taid of some sort coming today, and she's going to try to make for the pirate who are raiding the city. She'll be easy to spot for all the world, the red energy wings, and the fact she's in a mix of plate and heavy cloth armour, as the seeming flying elf is on her wayt o trahs thier party but she's also pretty much left open to the pirates to get a first shot in as she closes in.

"Pirates....?!"

okay CCO just came to life in the most disturbing of ways the more Tomoe thinks about it but she's got to deal with this now and hopefully she'll do some good here to curtail the raid even a little.
Captain Viridian Yikes. Not five minutes into exploring a new universe and already there's hostilities near Viridian. That seems to be a recurring theme in these dimensions, fighting. At least the various bizarre species are fighting each other and not him! This looks like as good an opportunity as any to learn about other sentient races, though, and study up on the dangers that lie before him.

The first thing Viridian notes after the initiation of aggression is the lack of a nearby ceiling to escape to. That'll be a liability. He'll have to stay on the sidelines. Maybe sneak onto one of the water ships through gaps in the fighting, when everyone's focused on each other. Of course, the best ship to stow away on WOULD be the one with the many-eyed terrorbeast, from the looks of things - they seem to be looting, and anyone who loots would have diverse loot to pick through.

And yet there may not be a solid opening. The fight's in full swing, and it looks like there's a lot of fighters fully surrounding his objective.. so Viridian braces himself and starts looking for even the smallest chance to board. Perhaps one of the smaller rowboats offers opportunity?
Cirra Constantine     'The Multiverse, how it is similare yet different to itself'

That was the title of her final report for school for the year. This version of New York would be a prime example for her thesis, especially since her own world was driven by magic, but had an asthetic more similar to the 'average' New York. Cirra Constantine was relatively well pleased by the results of her trip, though she avoided the cusines, just to be sure.

It's when she's heading towards the Docks to take some photographs that things go pear shaped. Lizardmen and Kobolds running down the streets ransacking everything. The silver haired girl slides her notebook into her purse calmly.

and grasps an approaching Kobold twisting around on her heel and throwing the hapless plunder into a food cart.

    A Hot Bold cart.

Cirra summons her crystalin long sword "I suppose lawless scumm finds its way anywhere."
Nobeard     Athela's challenge is met by the lizardmen backing off all right. Also hissing loudly, something which sounds like... like... "Sssscribbles.... sssscribbles..." What is THAT supposed to mean?

Then another voice, from under the tarp. This one more high-pitched. "Whatkindofanimalisthatitlookslikeagreatmountareyouaknightididn'tknowthisworldhadknightsbutitmakessensewiththewayyoutalkandthecaptainwantsmetoguardthecrewsoreallysorrynowihavetostopyoukeepgoingcrew!"

The tarp slides away as the lizardmen and kobolds... aren't stopping. Instead, they're letting the massive, armored hulk twitch its nose and glare right back at Athela, while the tiny girl atop the beast yammers on. The beast bellows out a loud 'SQUEAK!'

And the crew dashes for the storage on the docks, yelling, "Ssscribbles! Missster Sssscribbles!"
Sigrun Stem The coast guard keeps their distance, they are wary of what's going on, and can tell more confident seeming people are acting. They keep up the pressure, however, they can't be seen doing nothing.

Sigrun sees the arrow incoming, and rather than dodge runes light up in the sky in front of her, patterns filling in the area in between, but before the pattern can finish up the arrow aimed her way pushes through, shattering it. That still slows and misdirects the arrow, resulting in Sigrun taking a fairly mild wound to her side.

Sigrun changes targets, aiming for 'Scarlet' instead. This time, the arrow she picks has a shaft covered in a spongy material, a material which looks quite oily. The arrowhead is made of glass rather than steel.

The masked woman's arrow is loosed, aiming for the veil. It's nearly as fast as the last one, and it shouldn't hit. Because, just before it can, the glass shatters and magical fire escapes from it, setting the oil on the shaft alight, which disintegrates and spreads the fire far wider than is reasonable.
Athela Valemore     Strange beings, these large... lizard... men? Yet they actually back o -- no, they're just backing up, away from the tarp. That soon reveals itself with a pitched voices and the buzzing of some sort of construct rising from beneath it. Athela's eyes widen a bit at first, though that may be more at the odd small girl atop the thing. The behemoth itself reminds her of something akin to the constructs Team Golem uses, and than gets her expression to harden back into its serious grimace.

With sword raises she stands upon the pokemon's backside, leveling her blade at the... thing and its chatty occupant. "Dame Athela Valemore, Knight-Errant and Herald of the Sword of the Tides Keldeo." That enough of an answer for you, tinker girl? Unfortunately, she cannot chase after the landers yet. Because got to stop this thing from getting out there and making matters even worse. "And if ye shall not stop, then so be it." She takes a step back, onto the wide fluke of Samurott's tail. Whom uses it like a catapult to launch her towards the Tinker Gnome Contraption, swinging her sword to strike as she's flung forth! "Have at ye!"
Raquna Sheldon Armored people, lizard people, masked archers, people controlling constructs... New York City sure is a strange place. Raquna's attention actually draws away from the combatants at the dock just as that stranged horned girl gets launched into the fray by some sort of blue thing, instead turning to watch a tiny...

... Cyan something or another faffing about and looking mighty suspicious around those boats. Adjusting her cap and a backpack strap, the redhead just starts jogging right towards Captain Viridian, moving somewhat unsteadily as she tries to stay near the edges of the ongoing battle. This isn't her fight, but she can at least get a better seat for the spectacle!

And also just try to follow this little thing to see where that takes her. She's not the stealthiest sort, though, what with the clinking of her boots and chainmail with each movement along with the stench of alcohol following her. "Heeeey." She's stage whispering. "What're you doing there, buddy?"
Tomoe the cretures at the docks do have Tomoe's attention she swoops down on the Lizard Men and Kohbolds on the docks with high speed attemping to kock some of them over, she'll loop around again and fly up high, she's got a bit of a grin on her face as she's got an idea. She'll get to the apex of her flight up then drop down trying to land in the middle of some of the attacking pirate and lets off a bit of a shockwave from the impact, as she does so? Tomoe starts to chant, with golden runes dancing abou her body as she unleahses a blinding flash of light which might just help to blind the pirates if she's lucky.
Nobeard     Believe it or not, Viridian is... not going to have a hard time getting up next to the One-Eyed Jack, because the crew is rather distracted. But the ship is... well, there's no ladder or anything. Fortunately the ship is floating rather low in the water, so this challenge may let the Captain get onto the deck, or he can try a window. The ships wheel is abandoned, too! If he's feeling REALLY adventurous(I am an awful person)

Tomoe charges in, the scattered kobolds flailing as both her and Cirra knock some aside. This results in... a lot of mess, but also the remaining kobolds form a quick line of spearpoints, with two lizardmen behind that lift up muskets and fire off shots at the pair, giving cover fire to their companions in an attempt to keep them together. Despite the pirates being chaotic, as soon as the threats lined up they were suddenly disciplined, though none individually are a match for either Elite.
Captain Viridian There's a couple unused rowboats at the docks. With any luck, Viridian can jump into one of those, row over undetected while the fray is in full fracas mode, and slip onto the ship unnoticed. From there, he just has to find the loot, take what looks novel and interesting, and flee before--nevermind. He's already been noticed. He freezes as he hears Raquel whispering right in his ear, then slooowly turns around.

He breathes a sigh of relief as he sees a normalish humanoid standing behind him. Although, this could complicate matters, as this girl's not going to go back to ignoring him. So much for stealth. He responds briefly, "Boardin' a ship." He leaves it at that, rather dead set on boardin' that ship, and makes for one of the unoccupied rowboats. At this point, he doesn't care if he's followed - he just wants to do what he came here for. He jumps into one of the rowboats, rows out to Nobeard's ship without getting hit (or even having to dodge, a feat Viridian didn't expect), and looks for a point to flip up to. Crow's nest looks promising.

Flip! He slips around and between shots firing, and hits the center sail with a WHUMP. He ends up rolling upward along the sail, scrabbling for a safe landing on the bottom of the crow's nest. The landing is jarring enough to make him pause for a few seconds -- possibly long enough for an incendiary arrow to set his next landing pad on fire. That would be bad.

Oh, and there just happens to be a second rowboat that a pursuer could use to continue following him...
Nobeard     Sigrun's arrow explodes, with a strange and inhuman shriek from Scarlet! She was attempting to dodge, but instead ends up with a face full of flames. Her... hands actually don't bother trying to yank the veil off, as suddenly it's hurled aside anyway by the mass of writhing snakes. "Veil's down!" she calls out in a pretty voice. This causes the kobolds still on deck to immediately turn away. Fortunately the medusa is also trying to keep from looking directly at anyone... including boarders like Viridian. She's distracted as well by casting a spell, which seems to lessen - but not eliminate - the flames that are spreading.

Jack yells out, "Keep firing! Fire on deck!" With the kobolds scattering, Jack is the one who grabs a pail of sand to hurl onto some of the flames.
Tomoe Tomoe is glad to work alongside Cirra, she does take note of Cirra and how she fight she might just learn something. Tomoe on muscle memory alone moves to pull the Naginator off her back and put it ot use but she's more intent to try and disarm the pirates as they fire. The shots are ture and she takes muscket ball. There's a warping of her body a clear sigh of pain from her, but rather than bloot her avatar shows signs of it's true nature a bright red rent where the bullet struck her. She's now trying to close in and use her weapont o cut the muskets of each Lizardmen apart.

She does noties these pirates have some level of training, clearly they are not amatures or just 'rabble'. They also done some damage already and if she's not careful it could be worse.
Raquna Sheldon Raquna raises an eyebrow at the tiny cyan man's response, looking mildly surprised at his matter-of-fact reply. Or is it because he's a tiny cyan man? Even she's not quite sure, but at least she seems amused enough. "Really? Alright, le's go!" She combines a cheer with a sort of stage-whisper-y tone, apparently noticing that Captain Viridian's going for some vague semblance of stealth without really trying too hard to maintain it.

At least she's not falling behind. Jumping into a second boat, it doesn't take too much effort for her to get it moving, mostly mimicking Viridian's motions on the rowboat. Stopping her own boat is a little trickier, though, and she even whacks hers against Nobeard's ship, but...

... Well, that'll probably clean right off. Climbing aboard the ship, she opts to keep following Viridian just until he starts going FURTHER up on that sail. She might have strong arms, but she's probably not getting up that thing without raising even more eyebrows! No, she'll stick to just watching the chaos right from the deck.

That's certainly not going to raise any eyebrows on its own.
Cirra Constantine     Without her Judge armor, Cirraa must act a bit more defensive then usual.

Ducking down as the Kobolds and Lizardmen respond, Cirra ducks behind a garbage Dumpster (possibly universal between this New York and any other) and pulls a card out of thin air.

"The Rampart!" and tosses it into the air, stabbign the tip of her sword into it and into the ground. A magic circle spreads at her feet, and a wall of crystaline spikes grows out from the ground, providing her with her own phalanx of defense.

"They're trained and disciplined." she muses.

Cirra Constantine Judge of Ramuh spins her sword in her hand as the blade seperates, and she kicks the remains of the Hot Bold cart out into the street past her wall of spikes.

Then, rather then boldly leaping out, she carefully, purposefully brings her sword-rifle over the spike wall, and attempts to pick off two lizardmen with carefully placed shots of explosive crystal.
Nobeard     Athela is hurled through the air toward the... construct? It doesn't seem to be a construct! The blade skids off of thick armor plating and finds a join, sinking in enough to feel some flesh giving way and blood to ooze out. There's something ALIVE under there.

It also chittersqueaks and tries to grab Athela to... uh... shove her into a cheek pouch. Not swallow her, just stuff her there because hamster. The attempt is pretty quick, though grabbing an entire experienced fighter is pretty tough for an armored hamster, even of the agile Flightless variety.
Sigrun Stem Sigrun mutters an expletive when she notices the telltale snakes of a gorgon, and immediately casts spells to make her aiming channeled through a strategic network of four reflective surfaces that make it a lot like looking straight ahead, but never looking directly at where she's aiming. This setup takes a little to get done, and so she can't immediately aim another shot.
Captain Viridian Okay, not the best of landings, but Viridian's fine. He looks toward the deck to see fighting, fighting, more fighting, aaaaand fire. Wonderful. That reduces his landing options, which already look like zero. Maybe he can drop straight into the storage hold? Possibly, but he's having a hard time seeing past everything to find it.

Oh, and that girl that noticed him earlier. She boarded too, and she's being far less stealthy than he is. Is she part of the crew? No, can't be, she came from land to boat instead of the other way around. Viridian can't fully figure out her intentions, but she doesn't seem like she's targeting him. Might be safe. Although the fire's receding, it's still dangerous to find an unburnt section of deck to drop onto... so maybe she'll make a good landing point? Viridian finally decides to flip from the crow's nest to her shoulders, avoiding the risk of burnination - and grossly underestimating just how hard a Villi lands, even when slowing his fall.
Nobeard     Viridian manages to get on board! He is noticed by a kobold, who yaps and yells and jumps up and down rather than attacking. But if Viridian is flipping to the crow's nest... the kobold yips louder and waves his arms, then stops and dashes for the hold, being largely a coward, when Raquna appears. Whelp. Raquna and Viridian are... uncontested?

Not entirely. Jack sees them, but he doesn't engage. "Cap'n on deck!" he calls, before pointing his spear at Viridian. "Looks like we have some kind of gravity manipulator. What are you doing on the ship?" He knows Raquna is there, but Viridian is kind of the bigger curiosity, since he's on the crow's nest! Also, Jack is still trying to deal with the fire, so has no time to actually like, engage.

Meanwhile, the captain is on deck! The... giant floating orb, with a giant eyepatch on the central eye, with ten eyestalks all looking around. In front of him a crystal ball floats, and he's muttering, "This be a fascinating world. The magic be so developed!" Looks like the crew isn't getting much help from the captain at the moment, aside from a lazy potshot at Raquna from one eyestalk. It's more a warning zap of a ray at the feet, though... and fortunately just the paralysis ray, even if he should accidentally hit.
Athela Valemore     The Resolute Blade finds a seam and digs in with little difficulty. It's when it's pulled free to finish the slicing motion and blood dribbles in its wake that gets Athela to take pause a moment. Bloody hell, it was some kind of creature?! It was unlike any sort of Pokemon she had ever seen, so one could not really blame her for mistaking the armor for some kind of warmachine she's been warned exsist in some of these worlds. Though that leaves the question of it being some kind of trained, slaved beast to the tiny chattering girl(?) or if it is a willing participant in these activities.

The momentary pause of confusion is just enough opening for the Giant Armored Space Hamster to grab onto her and hoist the knight into the air. Athela does have experience with large monsters trying to eat her though and promptly spreads her legs as far as her warskirt allows to cram her heels in the corners of it's mouth and keep from being shoved inside that hideous rodent mouth.

"My course hath been determined, the tide shall not be turned away!" Athela thrusts out her free hand, and in doing so a blast of water erupts from her palm. A high pressure Water Pulse thanks to her control over water, though aimed at the Tinker Gnome pilot/trainer??? rather than the beast itself to try and disorient her.

Giant Space Hamster has it's own problems soon enough as Giant Armored Sealion leaps out of the water, flipping through the air rather effectively for his bulk, to swing the armor-plated fluke of his tail at the Hamster's broadside.
Raquna Sheldon Just how is he getting up there so high, anyway? Raquna hasn't quite figured it out yet, but she's just going to chalk it up to MULTIVERSE for now. She keeps watching Viridian until she hears other voices that are distinctly not her impromptu companions, and she's gawking at them. The kobold that runs away, Jack handling the fire, and...

Talking eyeball monster. That actually gets the Protector to adjust her stance a bit, bringing a small buckler to bear just in case. "Whoa... You're a real /looker/, eh?" Snickering to herself, she hops back a bit at that warning shot, chortling for a brief moment before holding her free hand up. "Hey, hey! I'm just here to watch all this. But if it's a fight you're /looking/ for..."

She's drunk. She's allowed to reuse material. Also, the redhead draws a flintlock pistol and rests it against her shield to steady her aim while grinning confidently. "... You should aim a little higher."

And then Raquna gets a sudden Viridian to her shoulder. She staggers a bit at the sudden impact on her arm, glancing over at him with a confused look. Luckily for both of them, though, she's a lot sturdier than she looks! "Oh? Hey there. Had your fun up there? We got a real..." She gestures at Nobeard and trails off, a troubled frown crossing her face. "... Did I use looker already?"
Nobeard     The pirates are disciplined and monstrous, but they are also facing not one, but two skilled Elites. Keeping Tomoe at bay while handling Cirra is a challenge. Perhaps one or the other they could handle on even ground, but the blasts from Cirra result in shrieks, and the crew is starting to back away and retreat. An organized retreat from the INCREDIBLY VIOLENT human. Two of the kobolds step back, shooting blowguns at Cirra then, though the poison they use is thankfully mild. Nobeard prefers not to leave a trail of corpses... but then again the lizardmen are reloading, so maybe lethal force isn't out of the question, considering they shot Tomoe! At least they're retreating, with minimal loot.

The other lizardmen and kobolds are grabbing what they can, but it's pretty obvious this raid is turning out to be pretty light on booty. Oh well. The spray of water slams into the gnome atop the hamster, causing a flailing yeoch before she slams into the deck, dazed. Her crossbow goes off, launching the bolt into the air... where it sprouts a propeller and starts buzzing around wildly all over the place, looking for a target.

Meanwhile the hamster shakes his head violently, working to dislodge Athela... just in time for the pokemon from nearby to slam into him. The armored hamster skids a little and grunts from the impact, only to swipe back with what look to be utterly massive, mole-like claws. Good thing they're both armored, though the DECK is not going to enjoy this battle.
Nobeard     So Sigrun is setting up some mirror-places? That's fine, because Scarlet is less interested in a sniper fight compared to leaping out from the remaining flames and shoving a new veil on. At least now the sniper archer knows why she's WEARING that thing.

Jack sighs as the Captain just... floats around uselessly remarking on the interesting architecture. He could really use the beholder's firepower right now. "WHEEL! Restrain those two!" At least that's the idea. He needs to buy time for his crew to retreat back to the ship. The wheel of the ship does, however... pop off and tumble toward Raquna and Viridian, extending pseudopods toward them as if trying to grab hold and uh... hold them.
Athela Valemore     The boat might not survive the night with this tussle that is about to go down upon it.

Athela hits the deck as soon as she's dropped, grunting as armor thuds against wood and then kicking herself into a roll to get out from under the two large creatures about to clash. Because Lancer the Samurott hits the deck as well after his attack, farther straining the creaking wood. He holds up his forelimbs as the Space Hamster comes to strike, sparks flying as claws screech against the panels adorning Samurott's limbs like bracers. Steel subtype may give some additional resistance to physical attacks like claws and fangs, but when said claws are nearly swords in their own right the defense is not an absolute ones. The sparks and the rents left in their way attest to that.

What follows however is after the strikes dig in, the paw-like ends of Lancer's own forelimbs start to glow faintly as he raises them up, and attempts to slam them down on the Space Hamster's head in Revenge. As in both the attack move and the payback for trying to eat his Trainer.

Once she's on her feet Athela notes the arrow buzzing around in a bizarre manner, and snorts softly. "Catch me if ye can!" she shouts, be it at the gadget or the tinker that shot it or both, as she turns and leaps off the side of the boat. Her intent is to distract the gnome away from the fight and trying to get involved again. Jumping off the boat... Proves to not be a problem as Athela takes off at a sprint -atop- the water instead of sinking! That should get some attention, hopefully.
Captain Viridian "Way to go, now he's looking at BOTH of us, AND attacking! And yes, you did use 'looker' already." Viridian, at least thankful for a solid perch, slid off Raquna's shoulders and landed on what little deck remained. He wasn't oblivious to Jack's question, or spear, but was a bit too preoccupied with making it to the deck to give any sort of response. Now safely on firm deck, he is acutely aware that he is now a full-fledged target. Not good!

'Those two'. Okay, that confirms it, girl's not part of the crew. Also both she and Viridian are definitely part of the battle now. He also begins to realize that maybe this ship's not going to exist much longer, and maybe he should bail. "C'mon, let's bail!" Viridian tugs urgently at Raquna's skirt, motioning to one of the two rowboats still next to the probably-still-a-ship. Whether they can escape before Wheel catches up to them is uncertain.
Raquna Sheldon Raquna blinks slowly as the Beholder loses interest in her almost as quickly as it had shot at her, and she slumps just a bit. "... Oh. Well... Ah, that's fine, too, I guess. Sneaking around was getting boring, anyway!" Holstering the gun, she continues watching in a mix of awe and amusement when the freaking WHEEL starts coming for her and her shoulder-buddy.

"... So is this whole ship made of stuff to fight?" She grunts lightly as Viridian slides off of her, and she's looking between him and the wheel as a quiet noise escapes her throat. Not a pained one, but.. He's just so TINY and protective-ish and it's just so cute!

Alas, as much as she'd want to have a bit of a rumble with Wheel, it'll have to wait. "Already? Alright, alright... We'll have a brawl next time, then!" Although she's not as fast as her cyan companion, Raquna's still fast enough on her feet that she follows suit in hurrying for her mildly-banged up boat!
Sigrun Stem Sigrun finishes setting up her mirrored setup, designed for fighting gorgons, basilisks and anything with looks that kill. Now, she's aiming once again. This time, it's for the floating beholder, specifically, for the beholder's eyes. She is close enough that rapidfire accuracy ought to be excellent.

And thus, in the span of a second, she fires seven arrows, each of these arrows going for one of the captain's eyestalks. They're not her usual standards of accuracy, but each should be accurate enough to have well over eighty percent odds of hitting if the eyestalks keep to their previous motion.
Tomoe Tomoe nods to Cirra for a moment nodding in agreement. She sees they are trained and disciplined as well they are certianly not rabble at all here. She's noticed they are oganie to the point they are using somer sort of darts? She can't htink about that the Lizardmen are reloading and she's got to take advantage of that. she'll move to strike but it looks like she's trying to take them down alive bringing hte blunt hilt of the spear to work, why? She wants information and she's not as blood thirsty as one might think.
Nobeard     Athela takes off over the water while there is a CLASH OF THE TITANS on the boat deck! For expediency's sake, we will just presume that there is much clashing, scraping, and screeching as the two beasts wrestle. And the gnome is left in hot pursuit! Right up until Athela runs... over the water.

    "HEYthatsnofairicantrunonwaterbutitistheroeticallypossibleifidrankalotofhastepotionsandmovedfastenoughthesurfacetensionwouldntbreakanditwouldbeeasierwithbigshoestoincreasethesurfaceareabutthewavesmightmakethatdifficultsoibettheydneedcurvedupwardtomakeboatlikeshoesand-"

Thankfully one of the lizardmen grabs her to toss into the boat for retreat.
Athela Valemore     In all honesty Athela was half expecting the gnome to have some sort of water walking gizmo, so when she's left behind ranting instead it's a pleasant surprise. Sometimes a diversion is just as good as striking back would be.

Beast brawls with beast. Armor crashes against armor, massive claws and hamster drool against sealion bulk and blades. The two are slobberknocking each other around like some bizarre animal wrestling match until the lizardman runs by the grab the gnome and expediate their departure.

Then with one final grappling move Lancer manages to get his forelimbs around the armored rodent and rears up, using his back limbs and tail for balance as he hefts his foe over his head, and with a roar hurtles the Giant Space Hamster after its crewmates. Don't forget to take your pet with you!

Athela comes darting back as he lowers down again, and hops onto his back once more. Gives the side of his neck an affectionate pat. "Well done, old friend."
Nobeard     The Wheel is not really meant to chase people all over the boat if they'd LEAVING. The pseudopods slam into the deck, narrowly missing Vrid and Raquna... but the Wheel doesn't pursue any further. It rolls to a stop right at the edge, flailing the psuedopods a few times, then does its normal sulking routine. This works better in a room, because it involves turning into a coatrack. Perhaps Wheel should exercise more, instead of spending all day spinning around, much like its player does during the day at the office. Thank god for swivel chairs.

Sigrun's arrows... many of them miss, because Nobeard is no slouch in combat. Three of them strike true, though, and lance through eyestalks to cause a bellow of pain! "ARR! WHO BE SNIPING ME EYES!"

Everyone shuts up and points toward where Sigrun is, even if they don't know EXACTLY where she is.

Unfortunately, the arrows lanced through some important eyestalks! One being the telekinesis one, so the crystal ball smashes into the deck and rolls. They aren't all that delicate, thankfully. Another is the disintegration ray, so that's good. But there are seven left.

One has Dimension Door, which brings the beholder across the way with a blip.

Another has fireball, and the explosive blasts are pretty annoyed, blasting where he thinks Sigrun is perched and also providing some cover for his men to retreat without the coasties getting in the way.
Cirra Constantine     Cirra's shots are effective in forcing an accelerated retreat. She ducks back behind her barrier, but one of the blowgun darts tags her across her neck. "Nhgg!" She drops to one knee and holds her neck as she can feel her head start to swim. It maybe a mild poison, but it acts fast.

The silver haired Judge closes her eyes and grits her teeth, hissing through the vertigo.

Black smoke starts to whisp off her body as Cirra begins burning her own blood to generate Magic Particles. Redirected back into her own body, Cirra's muscles grown taunt and she turns to leap out past her barrier like a black bolt, juking back and forth until she comes up on the retreating crew, and swings her sword with both hands, upwards in a diagonal strike that threatens to blowl over the few remaining Kobolds and Lizardmen, if they aren't fast.
Sigrun Stem Sigrun fails to anticipate dimension door followed by fireball, or really, even anything like it. Her shield spell hasn't even started forming by the time it explodes, and she is thrown back, hitting the wall behind her, her unprotected head colliding with it harshly.

She's not unconscious, but only through sheer willpower. She needs to find some place to recover.
Nobeard     Cirra's impact against the retreating crew send a few sprawling, but the lizardmen are stabler, and manage to pick up the kobolds to help them leap onto the boat. Well, most of them. This is the perfect opportunity for one of them to be nailed by Tomoe, which causes it to stagger and slump against the nearest crate. Looks like one was captured!

The gnome is screaming and jumping up and down, as the bolt finally THUMPS in harmlessly to a barrel. She would shoot again, but she's more worried about the trail of bubbles following the boat. Mr Scribbles, fortunately, has no trouble getting back on the ship once there.

Raquna and Viridian thud onto the boat, which thankfully hasn't scuffed the ship too much! It is made of... rock. How the heck does it float? This is answered shortly as the crew boards.

Thankfully, Nobeard doesn't pursue Sigrun... nor know EXACTLY where she is. He could maybe find out, but fighting a sniper with three eyes down is not something a cautious beholder does, and the multiverse has many people that could take on even him. He plays it safe and ports back to his ship. "HELM! LIFT US OFF!"

And lift off they do, as the sailing ship lifts out of the water, trailing a waterfall. This likely leaves the boats nearby in a lurch! Looks like they're escaping by air with a scorched deck and only a few crates to show for it. And a missing kobold.
