Adele Rozenbach The Rozenbach Estate lies within a region known to the French as Alsace-Lorraine and to the Germans as Elsass-Lothringen. A contested region that is and has for the past few decades been part of the German Empire, though with the eruption of war, this may soon change.

The trenches are not too far from the Rozenbach Estate, soldiers dug into barely moving frontlines, and sometimes, dying soldiers disappear from the hospitals with no explanation.

The explanation is currently crawling through the woods, towards the estate. A warped being, obviously once human, but his arms and legs have been turned into tiny stumps that allow it only to crawl on four legs. Its torso stretched to be large enough to place a regular human being on, its head dug into one end. A heavily wounded soldier lies on that back.

Accompanying it is a thin creature, similarly once human, instead of skin it has thick scales, instead of hair it has porcupine spikes, instead of fingers it has long, stringy tendrils. The soldier wakes up and reaches for the radio kit he's got with him, "This thing is taking--" The stringy tendrils lash out at the soldier, taking away the radio and leaving bleeding wounds on the hand that was holding it. The soldier screams in pain.
Karian Icefang     It didn't take much more then the sound of static and screams to summon forth the Space Wolves. This was an unknown world, with unknown problems, but they sounded like they needed help. Aboard the Thunderhawk, every member of the elite wolfguard were intoning prayers, or checking over their wargear. Karian himself was leading said prayers. "Allfather, watch over us now, and guide us. Lead us to the enemy, and by your will, grant us the strength to destroy them." Once within the lands, the thunderhawk would transmit out a friendly signal, just in case. Soon after, the transport set down, and the 8 foot tall walking tanks known as Space Marines deployed, in addition with a Rhino-sized wolf.
Drowned Ophelia It begins - with a crackle of thunder. As the bodies of heroes and peasant heave in a tormentous battle of principle, and the skies are torn with the passing of the Great Crusaders, the soft patter of rains begin to fall. The heavens weep for the misery below them, a slow and sobbing drizzle that will eventually turn earth and blood into a churned brown mess; Hiding one from the other, erasing the footprints earned in life and pain.

And as Monsters wander through the trees, so too does another Broken Creature stalk them - it passes, composed of the ectoplasmic ichor of liquid sorrow, chin down turned, blackened tears dripping from its chin.

"I always loved walking in the woods.." Sighs Drowned Ophelia. Her chin lifts, eyes bright in contrast to the sable streaks down her cheeks - and the pale blue skin of the dead. Her gaze flickers to the bleeding man, and then back to the two monsters, a cold and brittle smile on her face.

"You're not one of mine. That's fun~.."
Alden That signal was... certainly scary, and disturbing, especially after Katze translates (if the soldier talked in german). And since he really wanted to stop thinking about certain stuff, he decided to go an investigate, carrying an overly eager Katze, who is just glad to be in a real mission!. He wastes no time, a person sized periwinkle (with dark blue stripes) emerging from the warpgate and heading to the location he got from the signal, only to spot the ship, and the regiment of human tanks, and more importantly, Karian!. He makes a detour and heads his way, with Katze holding tight onto one ear.
Adele Rozenbach The arrival of such high tech equipment causes the two twisted beings to hurry. While they might be able to fight, they have a mission, and that mission is to bring this dying soldier to their mistress before he dies. The crawly critter takes the lead, while the whipfingered one covers the rear, eyes open.

And that's when Ophelia arrives, and the whipfingered one stares at her. "In the name of the Princess, do nothing that will prevent us from taking this poor soul into her soothing care." There appears to be genuine admiration to come from this twisted creature's mouth.

They haven't noticed the digimon yet, which may or may not be for the best.
Karian Icefang     Karian looks around, taking in the scene. It looked bad, but he had soon a few things worse. "Ygdril, pick out the scent." He says to the wolf. It nods and starts sniffing at the air, aiming to follow the familiar scent of a wounded man, or at least one who is in the midst of fear. Once the wolf picked out a direction, if it could, the soldiers and Karian would take off after the two monsters. Though the mighty wolf gave a small whuff, indicating he picked up the scent of a friend in the area, Alden.
Drowned Ophelia "Prevent you...?"
States the Queen of Tears, before she giggles. Drawing her claws fingers across her mouth, a motion almost human - save for the presence of the Black Tears that compose her form, her clothes, her very presence. Her eyes drift aside, to the distant boom and sound of massive warriors. That cold smile turns into a bitter smirk, even as the Six Stringed Sorrow bubbles into existance between her claws hands; Long necked, spider-bodied, it awaits only the first touch of her clawed fingers upon its humming strings.

"Why would I want to slow you down..?"

She turns her chin upwards, claws fingers drawing a low, longing sound from the guitar - and somewhere, drums kick in. Summoning the power of DEATH METAL. The air shivers, a low and freezing fog rolling out from the broken creature, coiling through the trees - hiding them. Hiding all within, the trunks becoming faint sentinels that are seen moments before one's nose collides. Sound, vision, even scent are dampened by the pervasive creation..

"Come along, children, show me your mother - come play in the leaves.~" She giggles, as she does nothing less than try to buy these monsters - and their cargo - time to reach the castle.

Alden The digimon gives a soft whuff in return once close enough, but makes sure not to go in charging, no point risking that one of the marines decide to open fire on him, he is not bulletproof, well, not to the kind of weapons the space marine takes, at least not in this form!. Katze seems very impressed at the massive people, and the rhino sized wolf, "Puppy." she says softly, before getting up and saluting the soldiers. Alden meanwhile moves to sit besides Karian, nose twitching, "Something smells a bit weird." he mumbles, "I take you got the signal too?". Then teh mists, which seem... familiar, begin to spread, "That can't be good..."
Adele Rozenbach "Had to make sure, miss. Our princess doesn't tolerate failure." There's an actual shiver there, as the hardened creature thinks back to the consequences of past failures. He keeps an eye open as the two creatures continue to move forward, and then the whipfingered one notices Karian first.

"In the name of the Princess, do nothing that will prevent us from taking this poor soul into her soothing care." The gargoyle repeats, stretching himself out to full length and lashing out with one hand of long fingers, aiming to hit nothing but the air, where they crack like a bullwhip. "I will not allow you to do anything." Those eyes settle on Alden eventually, and then he whips his head forward, sending a handful of spikes flying for the digimon. "Welcome guest, would you help me?"
Karian Icefang     "I serve a God-Emperor." Karian counters. He grips his adamantium blade tightly and shakes his head. "You can try..." He says to the whip fingered monster. He ponders his moments, and finally grins. "In the name of the God-emperor, you will put the injured soul down. Failure to do so will incur His wrath...and trust me when I say you do not want that."
Drowned Ophelia The Queen of Tears smiles that cold, brittle little smile once more; Happiness hasn't touched this creature since her inceptional suicide. "A woman after my own heart." She singsongs, before her attention shifts with the monsters - towards the Wolf Wolves and Alden. Clawed fingers release their slow plucking upon the Six Stringed Sorrow, which bubbles out of existance. But rather than leap immediatly to the fray, Drowned Ophelia steps back into the fog;
Where her form is swallowed by the thick mist, her soft, broken giggles echoing.
Alden The digimon just stares at the two creatures curiously, even coming from a place where fantastic things are common, including living candles with spooky faces, and other stuff, these two manage to creep him out. Certainly the Shinki still perched on his head gets a bit scary, "They look like things from a horror movie." she mutters. The confusion turns to a low growl from the large wolflike beast, "Please put that person down so we can take it to a hospital." he growls softly. The sudden throw of spikes makes him jump back, while Katze just jumps up. The Shinki dodges the spikes easily, but the digimon misjudged teh trajectory, and ends up with a couple of them hitting his shoulder, and perhaps surprising to him, piercing his hide, letting out a whine and mumbling about how the term 'mithril' in the digital world must be another word for aluminium.
Adele Rozenbach "Soldiers of a god-emperor? Does the Czar call himself that these days? The Kaiser is the only emperor with authority here." The gargoyle answers while the ghoul keeps scurrying onwards, trying to get to castle visible at the horizon while the fighting happens.

"There's no wrath I fear more than that of the Princess." The creature says with all sincerity, "And this soldier needs no hospital, they can't save him, he's already dead." He's looking at Alden in particular here, and his hand whips out, barbed tendrils lashing towards Alden, "The Princess can save him, grant him a greater purpose. It's for the best."
Karian Icefang 5tKarian growls as Alden is hit by the brances. He brings up his bolter and fires to meet the barbs. "I know not of any Czar. I represent Terra, the main domain of the Imperium of Man...a place you have made an enemy of." He says. With that, he demonstrates speed a man in super-heavy plate armor should not have as he charges for the creature, with the goal to sever an arm.
Alden The digimon has a limp from the spikes that managed to push into his shoulder, but otherwise, seems angrier than wounded, snarling, and not giving the gargoyle much chance to do more. "Katze!." he barks. The shinki fumbles with a large card box, and an odd device, while the digimon attacks the gargoyle. "Howling blaster!" he snarls, opening his muzzle and releasing a jet of blue flames towards it,and the approaching tendrils.
Adele Rozenbach The Gargoyle isn't slow either, quickly moving aside when it's being charged, and between that and the armoured scales, Karian's blow leads to a painful looking cut, but the arm is not severed. The strange creature doesn't bleed.

Not that it would have much of a chance to bleed even if did, as Alden's jet of flams scorches the tendrils and cauterizes the wound, leaving marks all over the scales from the heat. "If the Imperium of Man cares about these tiny details far beyond its borders, I must say it's no empire at all, it's an insecure despotate." Apparently the Gargoyle has opinions on monarchies.

"And if it was an empire, it would declare war properly or not at all. Where's your God-Emperor's seal on a formal declaration of war delivered to the Kaiser?" He whips his head forwards once again, launching more quills, straight for Karian from up close. "Only a despot or a savage would think he needs not declare war."
Alden Alden takes just a second to listen to Karian, pondering how familiar his words are to what some... people he met before said. Still, he turn shis focus on teh gargoyle, and when it seems to focus on Karian, he gives another bark to Katze, "Now." he says loudly. To make things short, there is a flash of light, and where a quadruped wolf with some spikes digging on a shoulder stood, now there is a tall (as tall as Karian), muscular werewolf... with the same spikes in a shoulder. He charges at the Gargoyle, growling loudly, "Garuru kick!" he growls, jumping forward and delivering a roundhouse kick aimed at the monster, his clawed foot wrapped in bright light for some reason.
Karian Icefang     "The Allfather is above this. For 10 millenia, he has ruled the Imperium, and the Space Marine serves as his mailed fist, His Angels of death. We act with his blessing." Karian states. It would be clear to the Gargoyle that there was an almost zealot-ic reverence in the space marine's voice. The quills strike hard against the armor, even managing to pierce in places, but either the man inside didn't feel the pain, or was supressing it. "But what would you know of that, warp-filth?" He asks, bringing his blade down once more.
Adele Rozenbach "Your false idol is beneath my notice." The Gargoyle states, even as his chest is cut open, though the cut is not as deep as might be expected, as the ribs have been fortified into much more protective bone plates. "But then, if he wasn't, I wouldn't be the one discussing him, the Princess would be."

And then it laughs mildly as Alden kicks him down, and rolls over. "You may kill me if you like. I will gladly entertain you." He does not seem phased by his expectation of death, "My life is nothing if I cannot do my Princess's bidding."
Karian Icefang     Karian grits his teeth as he hears that. But then he casts a glance around for the soldier. "Ygdril, find the soldier." He orders the wolf. It whuffs, and takes off to find the innocent soul. Meanwhile, Karian smirks towards Alden. "Taking things up a notch, eh? I approve." He says. He follows suit and swings that sword once more, following it with some more bolt fire.
Alden Alden's left arm moves faintly, "Those darn spikes hurt, did not want to take more chances." he explains to his friend, "I'd offer to help Ygdril, but I think It's best I stay here.". Katze sneaks around, and tries to follow Ygdril, or even perch on teh giant canine, she can talk to Alden remotely anyway. He follows the barrage of the bolter gun with another burst of blue flames, "Foxfire!" he calls, before the blue, bright jet of flames launches towards the wounded monster.
Adele Rozenbach Rather than fight back, or say another word, the gargoyle lashes out with his whiplike fingers, trying to hook the barbs on those lashes into Ygdril's fur and stop it chasing. Whether it works or not, it likely won't buy much reprieve, and it's his last action, the bolt fire and blue flames combine to boil him until he no stops moving. The once-caged soul leaves the body, and without it, the body is motionless.
Karian Icefang     Ygdril looks over and finds a barb embedded into it's hind leg. It whines out loudly and flips head over heels. Karian runs over and checks on his closest friend, moving to treat his wound.
Alden Katze squeaks at the flying barbs, dodgign them easily, before she runs to try to help the massive wolf, trying to see if she can pull the thing out. Alden also runs to assist, playfully bumping the shinki's head, "Why didn't you run to help me with the barbs on my shoulder?", "You can handle that!". The digimon stands guard while Karian worked.
Adele Rozenbach The gargoyle is dead, gone. And there's a certain degree of calmness to the land now, as though it understands one of the minions of the Princess is no longer hers to command. Within this context, the ghoul carrying the wounded soldier on its back speeds up, trying to reach the castle, trying to avoid being next.
Karian Icefang     Karian looks between Ygdril and the ghoul. "Alden, give chase. I'll stay here and treat Ygdril." he says. He quickly works to remove the barb and bandage up the wolf.
Alden Alden nods, giving Karian a pat using his good arm, before he begins running after the ghoul, growling loudly at it, "Help me with these spikes later." he asks outloud.
Adele Rozenbach Alden easily catches it, though it's close, the castle gates are within reach, and there's an androgyne figure wearing a butler's uniform standing on the castle walls, abrubtly closing them when it seems the approaching enemy will catch the ghoul and prevent the taken soldier from being brought into the walls.

Perhaps the union can save that soul, the technology of this world can't. It's true what the now dead gargoyle said, in that regard. Even if the Union can, they have precious little time.
