Nagato     Usually it's a nice day in the forests out of Freelia: the sun shining, birds chirping, people running around and doing their normal quests and the like, but today it's something different. An axe wielding cait sith stands at the edge of a large thicket, dark and dingy with very little sun shining into it... the trees look like husks of their former selves and there's no wildlife around. This was the place listed in Tana's log, the start of a quest that has been in her log since Halloween.

"I wonder if they're ready..." she mutters to herself, pulling up her menu and throwing out invites to everyone she knew that was online. "Ah.. they probably won't like this blind invite." She wanders back just a bit, leaning up against a healthy tree as her eyes look up to the upper left, looking at her health bar. "That's good... items look good... Enough free space. Skills checked. A prepared Cait Sith is a successful one." a firm nod is given and she sits.

"I've got no clue what this quest is, guess this is what it's like to operate without radar coverage." she laughed, the eerie echo comes back and a nod is given. "Welp, time to let them know what that invite was for."
Alexis Maaka     DESDEMONA doesn't dally when she gets the message. Wings spread as she soars through the air, the Flaming Demon is like a bird of prey as she arrives, her outfit suited out for the Halloween theme, even if the holiday has passed already. It amounts to a black leotard with high boots and gauntlets, with armor plating on her thighs and shoulders, as well as a demonic completion and bat wings to match with her new, rune-bearing longsword given a gothic makeover.

"Got here soon as I could, Tana. Needed to snag some restoratives along the way." She says, before she gives her blade a little twirl. "Think the getup's a bit much? Probably my best set of kit so far, honestly, just not sure if I should try getting the glamors off or not."
Silica     Silica comes flying overhead, flaring her yellow wings to arrest her speed, before circling down to land in the clearing near to Tana. She scampers over and does a very Zekken-like thing, pouncehugging the other Cait Sith with a big grin. "Heeeeey Tana~!" she chirps happily.

Pina chirrups softly as she wings over, fluttering over to land on Desdemona's head, leaning over to peer at the Salamander with beady little eyes. Tongueflick.
Iria You know what they say, right? All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy... or in this case, makes Iria a dull girl.

Even the best bounty hunter gets bored with hunting bounties once in awhile. Not to mention, sitting at home modifying weapons and having meaningless conversations with Fujikuro doesn't do much good either. So when Iria learns of a new quest in ALO, she's quick to join the others as well. Especially since she hasn't played in ALO for the longest time it feels like.

Racing into the area rather quickly, Iria skids to a stop as she arrives. "Hope I'm not too late," She comments. "I haven't been here in awhile, and man does it feel good!"
Yuna Kagurazaka Xiaomu, AKA Kanokon, would comment that if your health bar isn't full at the beginning of a quest, you're doing something wrong and you're likely off to a bad start.

She's not here.

And while Kagura would tend to agree with that sentiment, Yuna has been too busy today to remember that Nagato/Tana was planning something for this evening ... at least, not until she just happened to be in a position to log in and check messages and the like. It was a sufficiently busy (and tiring) day that she hadn't even been thinking about gaming, really. Still, after taking care of a couple of offline necessities, Yuna got settled in, plugged in her AmuSphere, and initiated FullDive ...

... And a few minutes later, the Puca entertainer arrives where Tana was waiting for her friends to gather for the quest. "Sorry I'm late, everyone!" Kagura calls out as she glides in for a landing. "How are all of you?"
Sanary Rondel It's been about a month or so since Lednor started playing in Alfheim Online, and she's been making steady enough progress in her sporadic training that she's actually feeling somewhat confident about today. Not enough to be leading anything, but between figuring out the timing for her sword skills and actually having appropriate gear...

She's as ready as she'll ever be. The red-haired Spriggan is not too far behind Desdemona, Silica, and Iria, landing from a wand-assisted flight and.. Actually doing it without staggering for once. She does have to take a moment to brush some hair out of her face, though, definitely not the result of spinning around a few times just to make sure she's going the right way.

"Here! Uh. H-hi. If we need to gather a lot of stuff, just dump it all on me until we're ready to turn it in. I need to work on my weight skill, anyway."
Reker "Who's ready to rock and roll?!" Reker sucks at roleplay, aparently. The cait sith, which for some reason Reker picked because he mashed the 'random' button realy quick a bunch of times when he first joined up, lands near the gathering spot. He has knives, lots of them, and some pretty cool looking armor...The stats on it probably suck but Reker cares more about style than stats.
Tomoe Tomoe was already ready for a run and kept a supply of common potions and buff food in her inventory for that very reason. She was in good spirit it had been too long since she got in a group run with friends like this. The Iron Lily doesn't take too long as she fliues in for a landing, being Salamander who'd gone Alf? Means she could fly anywhere in ALO where nd she's put that to good use to arrive. She lands with a grin on her face and calls out.

"Anyone needing pots or buff food I have it just open up a trade window."
Cirra Constantine     Palmira, unlike usual isn't perfectly prompt. Rather she arrives at the clearing, landing as her purple wings disappear with a messanger bag slung on her hip.

"Sorry for being late, I was making sure to be stocked on consumables if this was going to take a while." she glances at the other party members, and starts tossing everyone a potion from the bag. "Keep them." It seems her experiences in CCO have drilled in the urge to make sure everyone, not just herself is well prepared.
Yuuki Konno     It doesn't take long for Yuuki to join up. The offworld access point is fairly near Cait Sith territory, and she's a fast flyer. That said she DOES actually have to travel to the game world itself after her classes are done for the day. She's logged into ALO most every day, all day, but takes this world's avatar out to do all her actual living with.

Alfheim Online's still her favorite world though. It's beautiful, real, and yet not filled with the tragedies that befall Remnant, her other home. So she's quick to answer the call to adventure here. That, and of course friends are involved. She's probably quicker to answer the call of friends than to the call of adventure, but the difference is small enough to be hard to notice.

She does swoop in eventually, though she seems to be a little late. "Sorry, took a little while to get here!" she chirps, settling down and dismissing her wings. "Did I miss anything?"
Kirito Some circumstances had Kirito visiting a neighboring city so it doesn't take him long to reach Freelia! The Spriggan comes swooping down towards the meeting zone at great speeds, slowing only on final approach and avoiding!

The boy's in fine form tonight, stylishly dropping down to land just behind and to the side of Silica!

The party invite's accepted almost out of hand at this point, Kirito's name appearing on applicable HUDs. As usual, he's only equipped one sword at the moment. His favored black blade that Lizbeth specially made.

"Soooooo. What's this quest supposed to be, Tana?" Kirito asks moments, checking over his gear in his inventory window and glancing over the others here.
Nagato     With everyone gathered, the Cait Sith gives a smile that's uncharacteristic of the Battleship who plays her. A quick look at everyone's health bars and she hefts her axe up onto her shoulders. "You look good, Desdemona, the most important part are those restoratives you got." that grin gets a bit bigger when she sees the incoming Cait Sith and Pina, though something about this entry reminds her of something. Minus the ground shaking. Suddenly, she's got Silica upon her and in a hug! She gives the other Cait a head ruffle, minding the ears, "Good to see you and Pina here, Silica. Glad I'm not the only cat."

Iria and Lednor get a wave, she hasn't done much with them, but she might get some good times with them today. "Hiya, I'm glad that you two could make it, it's good to have more, not sure exactly what things might entail here." a look to Lednor, "Okay, I'll dump all my extras on you, I'm still trying to work on wall running so..."

A /very/ familiar name graces her view when Kagura's name comes in, and after setting Silica down... she does the exact same thing to the Puca. "Kagura~ It's been a while since we played together. Though, I still owe you a chat later. Eheh." she turns to see Reker and gives a nod as she lets Kagura go. Tomoe gets a nod, a smile is given to her, "This is going to be fun, isn't it?" Another look around and Yuuki gets a smile as well, "Glad you could make it, you haven't missed anything yet, I'm about to lead the expedition." Kirito arrives and Tana gives a smile towards him. "Supposedly there's a dying tree that we need to fix... I'm... not sure about it, as I didn't get much in the quest logs..."

Tana looks around and, with everyone finally here, she turns and starts walking into the dead forest. "Alright, follow me. I have the location ready and it won't let me fly in so... a walking we will go." a walking they will go, high ho the merry oh, the walking they will go. Through the forest and through the trees, it the area looks deader than the outside.. and very little light comes into this area. Walking through could send chills up everyone's spine... red, beady eyes peer every so often as musty wind blows. The few leaves that are there rustle and make a tiny bit of noise before falling.

It's not too long, a good fifteen minutes so everyone's flight can return, before they breach the dead-ness of the trail and into another clearing.. A single, large tree, possibly Oak-like in nature, rotten looking, leaf-less and two people standing near it in white cloaks.. Sylphs if those were curious enough.
Tomoe Tomoe is able to see quite the gathering of freiend she sees many people she's gamed with before in ALO or else where though Maaka's outfit does suprise her. Someone had been busy with the Character creator and customizingf the look of one's gear. She turns to Cait Sith whose grun this is and grins back at her. "I think it is so long as we can heard cats all right." A very old bit of gamer humour there on Tomoe's part really. "You didn't miss anything Zekken so far as I know."

She looks back to the Catmarial for a moment.

"Unless someone else is really keen on it I'll handle main tanking on this run."

She looks to Kirito for a moment smirking at him, she's just glad to see he's out doing things.

"Desdemona you took quite a bit of work on your gear that's got to be a player altered apperance isn't it?"

Then comes Renker and that gets another grin.

"The Catarine has arrived I see."
Sanary Rondel So many people, so many nameplates... It's actually somewhat disconcerting for Lednor as she shrinks back a bit from the steadily growing group, recognizing a few names and voices while others go completely over her head. At least she doesn't have to do much acting to look like she's the nervous newbie, at least, and the Spriggan actually clams up completely until Tana addresses her. "R-right! Wall running...? Oh. Yeah, I can... Well, I can't do that, but... Um. I can carry stuff!"

Perhaps it'll be better if she keeps quiet for the time being. Sanary can't afford to blow her cover surrounded by people like this! Thankfully, she doesn't have to worry about the group staying still for too much longer as they're led into the forest, the fallen leaves and bare trees just slightly more unnerving to her than the people she's with.

It's a good opoortunity to get their names in her head, though. Once they find that pair of cloaked Sylphs, however, Lednor comes to a stop and peers at them cautiously. "Hey... Uh. Think they're friendly, or...?" She keeps a hand on her rapier just in case, but she's also lingering a little bit further in the back of the group for the time being.
Iria "Long time no see, at least here in ALO," Iria comments to Kagura with a slight smirk. Then she looks to Nagato and nods. "Glad to be here. I'm ready when the others are." And when they set out, Iria follows closely behind. She's a bit peeved that she can't fly, as it's her preferred method of travelling here, and to be honest she'd bring it into the real world if she could. That glider she has just doesn't always cut it.

When they finally arrive, Iria pauses a little as she gets a good look at the area. "Well, isn't this a rather cheerful place," She comments sarcastically.
Kirito Plenty of walking it is! Plenty of time for Kirito to look over those here. Lednor might have to wonder why his gaze seems to grow more intense whenever it falls over her though, if she notices it at all.

He ends up shivering soon enough, and his attention focuses to the path they're on. The clearing.

    That tree.

Kirito immediately frowns. It's so rare to find a sick or rotten tree in Alfheim Online. Not impossible, but definitely rare...

"Quest NPCs?" He whispers thoughtfully. Then, just like that... the boy starts to advance. No quest advances by just waiting and doing nothing after all!
Silica     Silica giggles at the ruffling, then hops away from Tana, turning and greeting the others. "Glad to be here... do we have a Healer? I can fill in if not, I've been working on my Water magic skill." she adds, then does a quick stock check on her items, sets her Water Magic skill and spell list, then draws her dagger, checking its sharpness. "I should swing by Lisbeth's shop after this..." she muses, before trilling a high pitched whistle for Pina to return.

The dragonling chirls and hops off Maaka's head, flapping over to coil around Silica's shoulders. The tamer feeds her friend a peanut, then rubs at the top of her head.
Reker "Hey I resemble that remark." Reker says to Tomoe in response to 'herding cats' even though he knows exactly what she means, "I'm about as far from a healer as you can get." He says, turning to look at Silica, "I mean at least in this game. Back in GGO I could defibrilator fight with the best of 'em."
Alexis Maaka     Des' gives Tana a salute with her longsword and a wide grin, the two-handed blade dancing in her hand before she rests it across her armored shoulder. "Yeah, I figured I'd have some fun with the Halloween themed stuff one more time before they stopped putting it in rotation." Her voice also has a bit of a demonic tinge to it thanks to a filter she's equipped, but no less recognizably her. "I probably look ridiculous if I'm being blunt, but that's why it's fun to me I guess."

The others arrive, and she nods to them as well. "Desdemona, pleased to meet you guy-" Suddenly Silica. She'll give DRAGONHAT a petting and a snack, of sorts, it's basically an emote really. "Friend of yours, I take it?" She remarks with an amused grin, before she greets the others. She definitely recognizes Reker, and gives him a clap on the arm. "Hey, Jarhead. What's shakin'?" She looks pretty recognizable as Alexis Maaka to the former Marine, so there's that at least.

She takes off, moving towards the front of the group as she follows with Tana, her wings fluttering steadily as she feels the chill up her spine. IT's surreal, creepy even, how real it feels to her even in simspace.

She lands to the ground when everyone else does, spotting the big dead tree. "Spooky. Who do you think those guys in cloaks are?" She wonders aloud, jogging towards the tree and the figures without a second thought.
Yuuki Konno     "Wall running!" Yuuki crows cheerily, and demonstrates the talent. She LOVES this one, apparently. It lets her move in amazing ways after all. She runs along the pathway on the way to the quest point. If she can't fly she'll walljump along trees! Up one trunk, bounding across to another, from branch to branch like a ninja, then wall run down the opposite trunk in an incredible excess of energy and zeal.

She also has some thoughts about the quest, though she remains silent on them for now. No flying... which implies the quest involves the Underground somehow. There's few underground quests that aren't also endgame. Imps are particularly suited to the underground, and perhaps Yuuki could still fly even when underground, but she hasn't spent effort developing that skill like she clearly has developed wall-running.

Yuuki continues like this the whole 15 minutes of travel, probably running several times the distance in wasted motion, but at least she seems to be having fun! She only slows down once the destination's in sight. The ... sylphs? The dead tree? Okay, this IS new. She's somewhat surprised to not know of a quest like this. Is it new to the game, or just to her?
Cirra Constantine     As the rest of the group moves on, Palmira takes up the reargaurd position, walking along the forest path until they reach the dead tree at the center. Looking up at it, then back to the bottom to the white robbed persons - presumably NPCs.

Of course Yuuki had to wall run the entire way here and back again. "You're going to run out of things to walk on if you keep this up." she says to the younger Imp.
Yuna Kagurazaka Kagura lets out a squeak as she's hugged, but she grins and hugs the Cait Sith back. "It really *has* been a while, hasn't it?" she agrees. "And here I'm not sure I've got any new songs to grave you with since last time ..."

She's not entirely sure why the forest would prevent flight, but Tana seems to know a bunch of the details of the quest already, so Kagura doesn't question them. Instead, she walks along, equipping her harp and fingering the strings; occasionally she strums a chord, quiet yet - perhaps, or hopefully - spirit-lifting. The deadness of the forest *would* explain why flight generally won't work - not to mention that the place is *creepy*; Kagura may be reinforcing her own morale as much as the party's. (Or is it a raid at this number?)

Either way, the quest certainly seems more than adequately spooky, Halloween notwithstanding. About the time the party gets into sight of that oak tree, Kagura lays a hand on the strings to silence them, then returns the harp to her inventory. She can pull it out quickly enough if needed, but actually lightening the mood ... at best it just wouldn't work (the surroundings are too depressing), at worst it would be counterproductive or might actually draw aggro out of the underbrush.
Reker Reker didn't go very far in trying to make his character not look like himself, nor did he bother to change the name when he made the new ALO account. It's taken a lot of hard work to get caught up with the rest of the crew...He has been half tempted to go into wander mode from GGO and find a way to get into ALO in his GGO avatar but that might cause problems.

When Desdemona hits him on the arm, he turns towards her, "Same ol, same ol." He replies, "Dicking around in video games when I should be working. Oh wait, I'm a pro player. Dicking around in video games is my job." He grins as he says the last part.
Yuuki Konno     "Running! Wall RUNNING!" Yuuki corrects Palmira. Why walk when you can run?! But then she giggles. "I can't run out of things to run on! I have all of you!" she calls out, charging at Palmira abruptly. She doesn't actually attempt to wall-run anyone though. Just maybe freak the stoic girl a little. She stops abruptly, just short, throwing her widely grinning face right into Palmira's personal space. Not quite going for a kiss or anything like that, though the way she has to tilt her head up towards the taller woman might be suggestive. She's just messing with her and having fun though, that's all!
Nagato     Tana mms a bit at she looks at the tree, a frown upon her face. "Alright, you can main tank, Tomoe. If it comes down to it." Kirito's advance doesn't seem to cause the NPC's to move yet, though one does turn his head around to look at the arrivals, a peircing stare at Tana. "I don't think we have a healer so, go for it, Silica." and with a nod, she gives a soft mm at the situation. "I think they are, Kirito." she replies, before starting to move on towards the NPC's. She'll respond to the rest later.

Lednor's question gets answered as soon as Tana gets close to Kirito and the NPC's. The two robed figures turn around, showing off the dying tree. The two walk up to Kirito and Tana and give a thankful looking bow towards the two. "They sent us a Cait Sith and a Spriggan to help." comes the taller of the two Sylphs, "They did, brother." comes the smaller. "And they brought guests! Thank you. Thank you for coming, I'm glad to have you all. Come closer, come closer." the two are synchronous in voice at the moment as they wave the group over, trying to summon them closer to the tree.

"We've been charged to heal this tree, if you haven't noticed, the forest is dying all around this one... unfortunately, we've been doing all we can to try to halt the decay." comes the tall one, his voice calm and soothing. "But it seems our efforts are going to naught." a branch convinently snaps off and crashes to the ground, causing the Cait Sith to jump... "Eek!" the smaller Sylph shakes his head, "We do have one thing to try, though, but... it might be dangerous. We've run out of the ingredients to make a potion that should... that should bring the tree back to its normal vim and vigor, but we can't leave this tree... or it'll die as soon as we go, taking the forest with it."

The two bow down towards the group, "Would you ten help us? IT would mean the forest to us! We promise that you all will recieve rewards for helping us with this..." being a bleeding heart, Tana gives a quick nod, "Of course, after all, we can't let this place die... if we can restore it back to its beauty, it'll be great!"

"Great. Here's a list of materials. It's only four ingredients, and if you can make a fire and have a large pot, we shall be able to do the mixing." comes the smaller one, handing over lists to /everyone/ present... "There's a nearby cavern that should have all the materials, I do hope you can find them all."

If one was to look at the materials, as Tana is, the four materials look strange. "Wormwood, Green Water, Poison Sacs and earthy minerals.' "Alright, everyone should have the list, shall we get going? We can probably split into two groups of three and a group of four..."
Sanary Rondel Not threats! Lednor lets out a relieved sigh as their task is laid out before them, relaxing her grip and taking a deep breath to only half-fake willing up some courage before raising her other hand stiffly. She might not know what any of those ingredients are, but since the mission really does involve gathering a heap of stuff?

"I... I can go with a team of three, I guess? I.. Er. Extended Weight Limit's my highest skill, so maybe...?" She trails off and reaches for her glasses to fiddle with them, partially to obscure her face and partially because... Well, she's seen other people do it a bunch of times. That might make her look smarter or something, right?

Maybe if she wasn't messing with it using both hands and doing it for way too long. She can't be sure if Kirito's still staring at her! Or anyone else, for that matter, although she doesn't quite recall anyone else doing that. Is she even sure he was actually looking at her, or just someone else behind her?

"Um... And does anyone have a pot?"
Yuna Kagurazaka Tana's not the only bleeding heart in the party, but as Kagura looks over the list, she frowns. "I thought Wormwood was poisonous? And those are explicitly Poison Sacs ..." She trails off briefly. "Well, they say that the difference between poison and medicine sometimes is the amount, maybe that's it ... or maybe they need to kill a parasite inside the tree ... ?"

Still. She can help build a fire, although the 'large pot' makes her shake her head. "Somebody's going to have to head back to a city to get a big enough cauldron, probably. I don't think dividing into three groups is a great idea, though - we don't know how nasty the cavern's inhabitants are, we may need to stick together for safety's sake."

Sure, most of this group has grown to respectably badass stats and skills, but *still*. Not much point in taking unnecessary chances, is there?
Iria Iria nods to Kagura in response to the comment about sticking together. "I've been through many dark caves alone, and who knows how many times I only survived by the skin of my teeth? I say we stick together and stay safe." She bites her lower lip a little when she hears the mention of a pot. "No, I ain't got any of that. If we gotta go back to town, though, is it worth the trip?" She sighs a little, showing her impatience.
Kirito Hooooh. Kirito can never stop being impressed at how vibrant and adaptive Quest NPCs can be! The promise of adventure gets him revved in a heartbeat! But he glances over the materials and... frowns. Is something wrong?

Well, it's something he'll have to ponder over during the quest. "Be on the lookout for other things we might need. Something about this is different." He advises, unable to mask the uncertainty and concern in his voice.

But he gives the treesitting fae both a firm nod! "One set of potion ingredients coming up! Leave it to us!"

When Yuna mentions 'parasite in the tree' he briefly pauses... and rubs his sword hilt. She raised a good point after all.
Cirra Constantine     Stopping as Yuuki runs right at her, Palmira appears frozen in place as th younger Imp stops just short of physical contact. Maybe yuuki did freak her out just a little? But then Palmira slowly smiles.

And quickly picks up Yuuki to hoist her over her shoulder in a fireman's carry. "Behave." She turns towards the cavern after recieving the list of ingriedients. "Imps have the advantadge in caverns, so I here by volunteer myself and-" Pats Yuuki on the back. "Yuuki for the cavern team."
Yuuki Konno     Quest mode! Yuuki accepts her list, peering down at it. She's always been an enthusiastic planner at her guild's strategy meeting. Not, that is, particularly good at it. Just enthusiastic. And yet... well, she IS pretty good at it, particularly after studying Asuna's methods. She just tends to get a bit carried away sometimes.

"Well, I could go back and get a cauldron." Yuuki says unenthusiastically. Clearly she'd rather be here with the others! "But this cave exploration sounds like fun! I don't know if we need to split up, because it's not like we know where in this cave to find each ingredient. We could split up though if there's branches in the cave! Search it out faster and all that. I can tank a small group if we do need to split up!"

In the back of her mind, this does seem a bit odd though. Wormwood? Poison sacks? Maybe Kagura's right. Maybe it's a matter of using the right amount of poison to kill whatever's hurting the tree... or maybe this is something sinister and exciting!

Abruptly Yuuki squawks as she's picked up! The squawk gives way to helpless giggles though, as she struggles without too much actual effort to break free.
Tomoe With her role picked out for the night? Tomoe draws the Dawnbreaker and summons the Mourning Wall was ready to go, she's now taking point anx she moves ahead. Soon they get their questions answered she'll end up sheathing her sword again but keeping the shielkd out as she looks the pair of NPCs over for a moment.

"I get how this works but do you know anything we don't know about the materials we need to get our hands on? I can handle the fire."

Tomoe tanks things or sets them on fire really.

"Sounds like that would be anidea Tana we'd cover more ground that way, right?"
Reker "I'll go with whoever." Reker says, as he looks the list over for a second before closing it, "I dunno how much help I'll be, but I figure at least one of the groups is going to run into combat, and I'll just hope I'm on that group."

He's ready to tag along with whoever would be ready for him, though honestly he'll probably wind up with Tomoe or Desdemona, since he's hung out with them before.
Silica     Silica blinks at the list of ingredients. She hmms, then looks around at the groups forming. "Um... which group should I go with...?" she ponders, tail flicking back and forth. She does look at the ingredients again. She ohs, and waves the parchment. "Hey, I have poison sacs already! I was farming Arcadian Spiders for their silk, but they kept giving me these things instead." she offers, beaming a bit, but still no more sure about who to join.
Cirra Constantine     With assingments handed out, Palmira shifting the squealing kick Yuuki from her shoulder and puts her down to Lednor. "I want her back by midnight, and in the same condition you borrowed her." She teases Yuuki's hair and heads over towards Tana "Ready to go."
Nagato     Tana looks around at everyone and gives a brief nod, "Alright, splitting up in half will probably be the best then." though when Silica pipes up for having the poison sacs, Tana reaches over and ruffles the other Cait. "Great! You're coming with me for the other two items then." she gives a soft nod and points towards the entrance to where they all need to go. "Kirito, can you take Lednor, Desdemona, Zekken and Tomoe? I'll take the others!" she gives a grin and starts heading that way, "Keep in formation at least, I want everyone to keep an eye on their own and the raids healthbar!"

Upon any kind of confirmation, she and the rest head out. "Kirito, can you and your group look for the 'earthy minerals'? I'm not a hundred percent sure what they want by that..." she gives a brief frown as they enter and are soon confronted with two pathways. "Kirito's group, take the left, my group, behind me. Keep a look out for our items. Wormwood, green water, earthy minerals." she starts to take off, running forward... fast enough to where everyone else can keep up.
Alexis Maaka     Desdemona laughs, trying not to crack up too badly at Cirra and failing miserably. "You two are like peas in a pod, I swear." She mutters, before she heads off in a random direction when she nods to Kirito. "Whenever you're ready, man. Lead on." She motions to the Black Swordsman, before going leftwards as Tana says.
Sanary Rondel Lednor lets out a quiet grunt as she's abruptly given one Zekken to carry, holding her in something vaguely resembling a princess carry! She looks utterly baffled by this at first of course, before giving Palmira a confused nod in return. "Huh? Uh... S-sure!"

This certainly isn't going to be awkward at all. "H... Hi. Lednor." Sanary introduces herself with a brief nod, then gets ready to follow Kirito, Desdemona, and Tomoe along with a new Imp in tow! Well, for as long as Yuuki stays there, anyway. Sure, she might be trying a little too hard to avoid eye-contact and focus on looking for the requested materials, but at least she's following orders!
Kirito Taking Lednor, Desdemona, Zekken, and Tomoe huh? Kirito blinks a few times. Lednor and Desdemona he's not so sure about, but the remainder of this group is pretty insane overkill to any monsters. He makes a mental note to hold back if feasible and see what the uncertain members of this party can do!

It'll be hard to work together without a better understanding of everyone's fighting skills and tactics after all.

"Alright! Let's go!" He announces to his followers with a confident smile. The Spriggan draws his blade smoothly as he begins to walk down the left path. His spare hand extends and he begins chanting rather awfully in the faux-norse magic tongue. A flash of golden word rings later, the entire party's bestowed Nightvision!
Yuna Kagurazaka Kagura nods to Tana, and equips her combat gear - a modest buckler on her left arm, a short sword sheathed at her left hip where she can draw it readily if needed. It's a different buckler than the one she'd been using the last time she was with a group in ALO; she might actually be able to play her harp while wearing the shield, which isn't something that works with a lot of instrument/shield combinations.

Thusly equipped, she sets off along the right fork, sprinting to try and keep up with Tana. "I don't think the tree's going to die before we get back," she points out. "At least not unless we take a lot longer than the quest reasonably should! - And we'll have trouble looking at things if we keep *this* pace up ... !"

Kagura's doing the best she can to at least take a decent look at things in passing; if she sees something that might be Wormwood (which she's trying to remember what that *IS* anyway, at least in the offline world), or a pool of greenish water, or a patch of dirt or gravel that stands out from the surrounding cavern walls and floor, then she'll call out so they can stop and take a closer look.

Hopefully somebody's watching the ceiling for monsters that might be waiting to pounce.
Tomoe Tomoe sees the party split she's good for it. She's worked with Zekken and Kirito quite a bit after all. Lednor could use chance to learn form some experiance from it and yes a good packmule too. Desdemona was fairly good too so she had no real complaints about thing.

"All right then shall we move out?" She will open a trade window and pass Lednor a bit of buff food she shoudl wat, it's an apple tart from the looks of it, and grins. "Don't worry we'll also use this to teach you a few things about some more advanced play." She looks to DEs and to Kirito for a moment. "All right just let me keep in front when we fight and Zekken? Please try to control your DPS output to not /pull/ agro?"
Reker Looks like Reker gets to go with Tana's group. She's the one organizing this whole thing so it makes it easy enough to get behind her, "So we're looking for this stuff...Is it going to be on the ground or is it going to be a loot drop?" He asks, as he pulls a couple of the knives from his bandolier and checks them over.
Yuuki Konno     Zekken's passed from Palmira to Lednor, not struggling or arguing. She enjoys being manhandled, at least by friends! Well, that and she's been laughing and giggling too hard to protest or struggle too effectively.

"Hi Lednor." Yuuki says, trying to be serious when replying, only to start giggling again. Of course she's met Lednor before! So being reintroduced, especially in this way, seems hilarious. Everything seems hilarious really. She does eventually let herself down to the ground, but isn't about to push away yet. Not while people are having fun and the joke isn't totally driven into the ground! No reason to be an actual physical burden or anything, but no reason to detach herself yet either.

Yuuki doesn't draw her sword, but she probably doesn't need to either. Tomoe's in their team as tank, and Desdemona is scouting. No doubt Yuuki needn't be too quick on the draw, but she doesn't expect to dodge her responsibilities either. That this quest accepted ten players tells her it's not a quest geared for normal groups. It's a raid quest, which means each player's probably going to have to do the work of at least half a team.
Iria Equipped and ready to go, Iria nods to Tana. "Let's take care of this! We've got lots of work to do!" She seems to be a bit too into tonight's quest for whatever reason. Perhaps it's because she's been hunting too much in real life? She looks to Kagura and says, "I dunno, but there's something about this whole thing that's got me a little on edge."
Cirra Constantine     Following along after Tana, Palmira shurgs at Desdemona. "Her enthusiasm is infectous." She catches up with Tana's group. "All joking aside I'm not sure what wormwood *is*."
Alexis Maaka     Cocking an eyebrow, Des title her head to Kirito as he chants, before suddenly NIGHT VISION! She's actually really wishing she chose Spriggan now, given how useful it is running around with NV capability out here. "Damn, wish I had that spell." She follows with Kirito, her eyes scanning the ground for anything resembling wormwood, or whatever the game considers to BE wormwood anyways.
Nagato     Tana's leading her group along, deeper and deeper into the cavern... she pulls out something from her inventory, a simple torch to light the way... Unfortunately, that seems to have woken up something a bit dangerous... a squad of saplings and a small treant that start rushing the group! She can't really use a two handed weapon with that so, she'll do what she does best in a situation where she can't really attack.

"Farm those! They might drop what we need! Silica stay behind me and heal them, I'm going to equip my shield so they don't get you." with this, that axe dissapears and the shield takes its place! "Go go go!"
Nagato     It's also about the time that Kirito and the group stumble into something... big. A huge golem (by perspective) that looks to be made of dirt and stone and earth... the loud groan echoes through the cavern and it starts trundling forth, looking ready to make a earthy meal out of Kirito's own group!
Yuna Kagurazaka Kagura comes to an almost-literal screeching halt at the sight of the animate (underground) trees, and takes an extra three steps back and to the side ... assuming she can do so without backing into anyone or into the wall. Granted, having a solid surface at her back might not be a bad thing ...

... unless of course OTHER monsters can spawn out of it ...

Yeah, she hasn't been playing enough ALO to remember that Alfheim basically plays fair with encounters. Her first priority once she's out of everyone else's way is to re-equip her harp and play a quick little tune, a lively little jig to buff her party's accuracy and agility. She's depending on her teammates to make sure she doesn't get interrupted, naturally.

Once she's finished the buffing performance, the harp is dismissed and Kagura finally draws her sword, moving in to help chop away at the walking wood.
Iria Iria smiles evilly once the contact occurs. "Time for a little action! I've had too much adrenaline in me and I'm dying to get it out!" She laughs as she rushes at the wood monsters, attempting to demonstrate her skillful swordsmanship (or should that be swordsWOMANship?) to them. "We got this! Don't worry!" She says as she joins Kagura in assisting with DPS.
Silica     Silica ahs, a bit as Tana takes up position in front of her. "R-Right! Pina, Bubble Breath!" she commands, pointing at the targets. The dragonling chirps, then breeeeeeeathes in, before unleashing a stream of bubbles to temporarily disable the monsters so they're easier to hit and can't fight back to start with.

Meanwhile, Silica begins to chant, words of power appearing around her as she holds her hands up. Once she's done, a flash ripples out around each of her party members, providing them a minor defensive buff.
Reker "Finally." Reker grins as the cait sith goes to work, his twin blades brought to bear as he moves into position. He can strike at melee range with them, or he can throw them from afar. With a bit of effort, he can put a sword skill into the thrown blade, much like archers can do with their arrows.

He opts to go for a fire attack for the first thrown strike, since they are plant creatures and will probably prove weak to fire, at least that's the theory.
Tomoe Tomoe is going to fall in front and start making ready with the taunts on the huge Golem. It's her job to keep it's attention focused on her. The taunts go out in rapid succession and Tomoe now springs to try and close to melee range, she doesn't have to do a huge amounbt of damage. Just keep it's attention on her which she's confisdent she should be able to do.

"Lenor wait until I have it's full Agro before you join in on the attack! Des! Zekken, Kirito, You know what to do and watch out for templates!"

It's a Golem there's likely to be thrown boulders or falling things as well.
Sanary Rondel It's not until Yuuki starts giggling that Sanary starts giggling, too, the laughter apparently too infectious even for her attempt at a nervous facade! It does seem to help the Spriggan relax a bit, though, as she keeps moving along with the rest of the group, pausing briefly to let her eyes (both of them!) adjust to the sudden boost in vision from Kirito's spell.

"Same here... I haven't practiced much magic yet, but..." Before she can finish that thought, the sound of an angry golem echoes through the cave. Flicking that rapier into a ready stance, Lednor's already advancing as the golem charges forth.

"I'll hit it from the right! Er... It's left, our right!" And so... She does that! Lednor's bounding to the group's right as stated, waiting for Tomoe to grab its attention (while also watching out for falling debris or flying projectiles) before rushing forward. "Come on... Linear!" And then she moves to stab it in the leg or ankle or other leg-like appendage, opting for a faster Sword Skill to start with. She hasn't fought this sort of thing before, so it wouldn't hurt to see what it's capable of first.
Kirito Some stumbling through the cave's Unusually Dramatic tunnels that no natural geological processes could possibly shape later, Kirito and his allies emerge into a bulging bigger 'chamber' in the cave... and find... a golem?!

Buh?! The Spriggan stares. SOMEONE hit that one on the nose-- "WHOAH!" Kirito drops into a battle stance the moment the golem moves.

Yeah, someone's prediction was right on the nose. Now he needs to make sure that Golem's not getting blows on his!

"It's Earth element! Lightning and fire won't do much good. Use water and wind!" Not all of which are exactly winning elemental rock-paper-scissors, but at least a rock golem shouldn't -resist- them much!

Kirito dives in when the time is right, his blade illuminating with a frosty glow! He dives right in and SLASH-SLASH-SLASH, unleashes an icy barrage on the golem! ... Preferably after it swings and exposes itself...
Cirra Constantine     When Tana points out the small grouping of enemies, Palmira responds with "Flanking." and draws out her spear. The Imp woman runs around the group of enemies to their side, spinning her spear around as she slices across one of the saplings, engaging in testing and probing attacks to determine if they're the standard sapling mob or something else.
Nagato     Tana doesn't want to lose the light she's got or the shield, so she opts to just not even cast her Earth Shield, even if it'd be helpful right about now, so she makes a concentrated effort to intercept anything going at Silica, since she's the party's healer. Always protect your support ships, folks. "Alright, maybe these might have what we need..." she looks a bit hopeful at this and she hunkers down. "Silica, if you want to do some attacking, go for it." she grins.

    ------

    Meanwhile, at Team Kirito:
The Golem starts swinging, and, despite made of earthen materials, is quite quick on its feet at swinging wildly and not caring about aggro tables. It groans loudly, shaking the cavern, a stalagtite falls over... Kirito's triple slash icy barrage hits home and causes the golem's HP bar to drop quite a bit and leaves it open with Lednor's own Sword Skill to land home on it, slowing it down some as its HP bar drops a bit more! Just as Tomoe predicted, though, it creates a boulder and LAUNCHES it at Tomoe! Angry about the taunting, before reaching over to punch at Zekken! (What aggro table?)

    Back at Team Tana:
Reker's The first strike from his fire attack sets one of the saplings on fire and it screams a LOUD, PEIRCING scream, like a mandragora. Silica's pet's bubbles wash over the enemy group, slowing their movements, disabling them for a few seconds at least! Kagura's strikes hit home on the disabled plant monsters, felling one of the saplings at least while Iria's own strikes take out another on!
Yuuki Konno     Water and wind, right! Yuuki, true to her nature, is going to use Sword. The only element she can call upon, both magically and through her blade, is Darkness. No, she's not about to use magic on this thing besides the inherent power of her blade and her sword skills.

Still she WAS right! It comes from having years of experience with VRMMO questing! She can't help but smile. Even as relatively useless as her fencing blade will be against an Earth Golem, this ought to be fun!

On that thought Yuuki begins to dance forward. She lets Tomoe take the lead, though she drifts towards Lednor. The poor girl's not very experienced. A good fighter with good instincts, but lousy gear. If she gets overwhelmed and fails to stay light on her feet, she's going to take nasty hits!

"Keep mobile!" she cautions, mostly directing her words to Lednor. Normally she'd howl a spirit-raising cry, but that adds aggro as well as buffing her attack power. Since she's trying not to make Tomoe's job too hard, best to instead show how she fights defensively. Suiting actions to words, demonstrating, she begins to move in a series of dancelike steps. Not a formal court dance though, more something like rhythmic gymnastics. A spin, dropping down to the ground, and her blade comes around in a fierce swing to chip off the elemental's leg. Not a hard blow, just enough to reverse her momentum and spin in the opposite direction, leaping high to bring the sword down hard on a golem forearm. Then a spring off the same arm with both feet, leaping well out of the way of any possible retaliation, flipping in midair, and settling back down to the ground with a hint of a gymnast's flourish at the end. And, of course, a big grin. This IS defensive for her. None of her strikes are particularly devastating, and rather than staying in the fight until she's attacked she's in and out again quickly, remaining defensive.
Silica     Silica shakes her head at Tana. "I'll hang back and keep the front line healed. If Miss Asuna or another healer were here, I would... but if I go down, you'll all be without support. I can't let that happen." she replies firmly. She uses a set of whistles to order Pina into a flanking attack, hopefully distracting a monster long enough for Palmira or one of the others to get a slash or stab in.
Alexis Maaka     WELL THIS IS HAPPENING.

Maaka had been digging amid foliage for the wormwood at the time when the golem appeared. She definitely hightails it towards where the fight's going on, her hand burning with flames as she flies toward the golem.

"Over here, ugly!" She calls out, throwing a fireball spell like a grenade at the golem to distract it, landing on the ground and sprinting in close to swap to melee, her sword at the ready as she slashes at the golem's heel.

Lord knows if swords in this game do anything to golems, only one way to find out!
Sanary Rondel Against all logic, stabbing the golem with the rapier is actually working! Lednor takes that to heart as she back up, watching the golem's movements again to get a better idea of how it's swinging back at its attackers. It's not quite clear who it's trying to focus on, so that just means...

Hit it until it dies! "G-got it!" She responds in the affirmative to Zekken, hanging back for a brief moment to let Tomoe keep building more of that aggro she keeps hearing about. Once it starts swinging at Yuuki, Lednor moves in once again with her rapier held up.

And then she starts stabbing it repeatedly with the same sword skill as before, getting the right timing down to keep thrusting that rapier at the same part of the golem's leg. Is she really just spamming that move over and over? It's a fast attack, at least, so it's safer than if she had tried using a different attack.

She... Does know other attacks, right?
Yuna Kagurazaka The scream as Reker's fire magic burns one of the saplings makes Kagura wince, nearly flinching - but she stays focused, a corner of her mind tracking how long her buff is good for, and then angling in for another series of slashes. She's still aiming for saplings if she's got a convenient angle to the others, but the bigger treant in the middle of the group is also a concern.

She's also being mindful of the group's positioning; some of them have to stay in close combat, others may be able to do damage from further away - with spells or with other weapons. She's not sure who's armed with anything BESIDES swords, to be fair.
Iria Meanwhile, Iria's continuing to demonstrate her sword skills quite efficiently. No matter how many saplings there are, Iria's ready for them. A few get too close for comfort, causing Iria to freak out a little, but she ends up managing to fend them off. As she finishes off another sapling, she scowls.

"Just how many more of these things are there?" She asks to no one in particular. "Is this some kind of an endurance round or something? Because I, for one, am running out of endurance!"
Cirra Constantine     As Silica sends Pina flying around to the other side of the group of monsters, Palmira uses her trident to deflect a blow from one of the saplings. She keeps the plant creature on the defensive, waiting..

When Pina comes diving in, Palmira surges forward, dropping down on her knees to slide past the sapling. "Hup!" She leaps back up and brings her spear down across the Ent diagonally, aiming to slice it from bran to root.
Tomoe Tomoe now has a horrible understand of the boss, it doesn't have an agro table at all. She takes the boulder but it hs soi hared it warps the display of her shield and her avatar and she's forced backwards.

"Tank an spank! That's how it's done!"

Tomoe darts about flipping into the air landing on the creature and attemps to drive her blade into it before dropping down and trying to pull the blade along for the ride as she drops down.

"That all you got rock for brains?"
Kirito Kirito is definitely at his best when the enemy isn't significantly faster than him. STRONGER on the other hand, that poses some challenges! Up at the front lines of this fight, Kirito shuffles around on the ground to keep pace with the Golem the moment his Sword Skill stunlock lifts. The Golem going after ZEKKEN gives him an opportunity to be sure! Because Kirito aims straight for the creature's back, drawing his weapon up horizontally and ready for a thrust--

It's SONIC LEAP! He flashes across the distance, the system assist taking him rocketing through-past the golem as a blur and skidding across the ground. This takes him right behind Tomoe.

"Knock that thing off-balance and we can beat it to rubble!"
Nagato     Tana's still guarding the Healkitty while she lets everyone else hack away at the monsters, throwing out earth sheilds here and there and launching fire magic when its nessecary, after all, this is still her quest, she has to do /something/, right! "It's looking good so far, I think we have it" she grins, her ears perking up happily. "Alright, let's do this!" The amount of strikes that come, the massive bit of combat all there, and things fall one by one.

Team Kirito: Kirito's Sonic Leap strikes home and knocks the large golem off balance, with all those strikes coming from everywhere and all of his mini party, the golem is wearing down bit by bit until soon, it explodes in a large amount of spiked shards of rock, dirt and rock needles, a last ditch effort attack before a window pops up in front of all of Team Kirito's party. ITEM GET: EARTHY MATERIALS At least that's one thing down, right?!

Team Tana: The fire from Reker and Tana wash over the group, setting a few of the multiple mobs on fire along with the Ent lit on fire... and soon, like the Golem from Kirito's party, lets out a deathblow attack, exploding with sharp splinters, razor like leaves, and large chunks of wood fly out to try and kill any of the straggling members... unfortunately it takes out some of the smaller saplings... Soon, a window pops up. ITEM GET: GREEN WATER and WORMWOOD
Cirra Constantine     Deathblow? Palmira has never encoutered a mob with an on-death attack. She lands from her attack and brings her weapon up in defense as the saplings are suddenly speared through by branches "..!"

The explosion of splintered wood and branches sends Palmira flying backwards, landing on the ground in a roll with numberous red lines across her body and face from the sharpnel. "Nhg..." she slowly sits herself up. "If that had taken out the whole party, we would have lost out on the item drop. Clever, and dirty."
Sanary Rondel Success! Sort of! The exploding boss catches Lednor unaware, and she flinches as she eats a faceful of spikes. It doesn't hurt quite as much as she'd expect thanks to the pain dulling aspect of the game, but her lack of healing ability in this game does mean the redheaded Spriggan is sitting at a rather precarious HP level after the fact.

"Whew... We did it! Is everyone okay?" She checks her inventory after that window announcing their spoils of victory disappears, confirming that the thing is indeed in her inventory before turning to the rest of the group. "S-so! Uh. Is that all for this side, then? If anyone needs to drop off stuff..."

She puts on a determined look, trying to look eager to help carry the materials. Even if she might not have done as much damage as... Well, anyone else in the fight itself, she can at least be helpful here!
Tomoe Team Kirito seem to be doing as well as it can and no one's down so that's a win in her book, she's taken some damaged but well she'll recover in time. She lowrs her weapons now the thing is down and they have got the quest item off the boss. She looks from one person to the others in her party.

"Is everyone all right?! Let's get out of here before something else spawns in on us. Pop a pot if you need it and shall we get going?"
Alexis Maaka     Desdemona braces herself, speed-equipping a shield as she tries to weather out the explosion. It doesn't end well, as she's sent flying backwards and lands on the ground, sliding a good few feet before she stops skidding. It impacts her HP pretty badly, taking a large chunk off.

"Ow...at least I still had that shield." She mutters, picking herself up and dropping a heal. She'll live, and she heads off to rejoin with Tana's group forthwith.
Reker The exploding mob catches Reker off guard, but at least he doesn't do something stupid like try to throw himself on top of it. He manages to get mostly in cover, still taking damage from the shrapnel from the mob, but alive.

He gives a thumbs up

"Never seen that mechanic before. Surprised they put it on a mob like that and not a boss mob." He says, as he takes a moment to down a health potion, "But we got what we came for."
Yuna Kagurazaka There are reasons why Kagura carries a shield. Event bosses trying to take out the party with them have *NOT* been one of them ... but they certainly constitute an extra reason she's going to keep in mind in the future, maybe when she's getting her shield upgraded or replacing it with another version.

Not that her build as a Puca is all that suitable for toting around a larger shield than the harp-sized one she's got right now. It's still enough to make sure that her HP don't go any further down than they do - and since Kagura could see the boss's HP bar dwindling and didn't feel a particular need to go for a Last Hit Bonus, she was moving a little further away by that point anyway. The quest item drop notices go to the whole party anyway, so it's not a big deal. "Keep in mind," Kagura notes to Reker, "this is part of the quest to restore the forest - and if both of the monsters carrying our needed items blew up like that, then ..."

Then it's probably not the last time they're going to have to deal with that. Hooboy.

"At any rate, if the venom sacs are the right ones, then we just need a big pot or a cauldron or something along those lines ... hmm. We should probably check out more of this cave, I have a hunch about this. Maybe we won't have to hurry back to a city to get the pot we need."
Iria The explosion knocks Iria back a little, causing her to lose a bit of HP. But she recovers rather quickly, albeit while being somewhat hunched over. "Damn, that was uncalled for!" She says sarcastically. She proceeds to take out a healing potion and gulp it. After that, she runs a hand through her hair and sighs, before looking to Kagura.

"Maybe there is, maybe there isn't. We won't know until we check." She sighs. "Although, honestly, I do hope it doesn't take much longer."
Kirito DOWN goes the golem! Kirito, exhaling in relief, stands straight and swipes his sword a few times at the air as though casting blood from it, then smoothly sheathes it. By now his 'fight's over' routine is so polished and smooth that it resembles a JRPG victory animation, flawlessly precise and ever-present.

Habits. They can be weird sometimes.

he thumbs through the post-fight displays and files away the loot, grinning a bit at the outcome. If this was SAO the first thing he'd be doing is going over the party display to make sure nobody died... out of pure dread habit. But he has gotten far beyond those days, for now. Still, one health bar catches his eye... Lednor.

Concerned, he shuffles over her way. "This couldn't be your first time in a big party fight like this?"
Nagato     Tana gives a bit of a chiding remark to Iria over the radio and searches her inventory for something, "Apparently I have a pot in my inventory, let's just get out of this cave like Kagura suggested." she doubles back, downing a potion to get her health back up. Something is bothering her with this quest line, but she can't place a finger upon it. "So, everyone has everything, which is good..." it doesn't take too long to get back to the two Slyphs at the tree, who proceed to perk up seeing the entire raid group.

"You're back, you're back with the items and the pot, right?!" a nod is given from Tana, that tail twitching as soon, a pot materalizes from thin air in front of the slyphs and the items hover over it. The taller of the two gives a thankful bow, and a grin. "We thank you so very much for this." he starts, turning to the smaller of the two, "Shall we?" a nod, "We shall. Gather around the pot, friends, we'll let you all help. Especially you, Tana!"

It could be a strange thing that they knew Tana's name, but she doesn't mind it at all as she gathers around the pot, and when everyone else does as well, the items get dumped into the pot and a fire is lit under it.. a comically large stirring implement soon appears in it and the taller one starts chanting while the smaller one stirs. A green gas starts to float above the pot after a minute and a surprise gust of wind blows that green gas across the field, through the raid group. PARALYZE icons start popping up all over the place as the two slyphs laugh.

"Walking into a trap you do, giving us fodder for us two. Shall you live to see this day, we won't let you try it any way. Come now and let's see..." the dead tree sparks to life... a zombied husk starts moving around and thick branches with small gaps show up in it, like a cave. "We're taking a present... the gift of life from you..." Tana soon dissapears... and reappears right in that cave with vines pointing at her.

The top of the tree flashes slightly... and FIVE HEALTH BARS show up... 'The Undead Treant' is its name. "Welcome... to your doom." as soon as the word 'doom' is spoken, the Paralyze effect lifts off everyone...
Silica     Paralysis! It wasn't a common condition in SAO, because of very obvious reasons, but those few monsters, and the players that could get the right ingredients to formulate the right poison, were especially deadly.

Silica's eyes go wide in panic as her avatar locks into place, unable to do anything but watch.

That is until the effect wears off, and the little Cait Sith instantly begins to chant. The words lock into place, and a defensive shield appears around everyone, including Tana, boosting their defense attributes by a small margin. It's not much, and nothing a true Earth Magic User could outperform, but it's likely better than nothing.
Sanary Rondel Oh crap. Lednor's drawn Kirito aggro now! Sort of. At least he doesn't look like he's suspicious of anything, and that actually helps her keep her cool despite acting like she's startled by his question. "Eh? Y.. Yes, it is. Well... Unless that other quest counts, but there weren't any exploding things like that before." She waves a hand at where the golem had been a moment ago. She doesn't seem too worried, at least, and even pops a potion on herself to get some much needed healing.

If only she wasn't so cheap as to stop using potions once she got to half health. Potions are expensive on a newbie's budget, especially if they cost more than 0.1% of their total money!

The call to return to the tree is eventually heard, and Lednor's soon heading back that-a-way! She doesn't suspect much even as the sylphs say Tana's name specifically, simply watching the short display. When that paralyze effect kicks in, though, then Lednor's finally... Looking impressed?

"Ooh, so they even do this in these types of games? Wow..." To be fair, she really hasn't seen this sort of thing in a game before! It seems as though the display is just getting Lednor excited rather than instilling any dread in her, and she's already gripping her rapier firmly as that effect wears off. Once the feeling returns to her legs, the still-wounded Spriggan goes for the same strategy she used in the first fight: Rushing in from the right side! She's aiming for the treacherous sylphs instead of the tree, though, fully intending to skewer them instead.
Alexis Maaka     Chugging down a health potion, Desdemona throws a salute to Tana as she approaches the sylphs. "We got your stuff, what next?"

She's automatically unnerved, when the sylphs speak Tana's name. That's never a good sign, and suddenly PARALYZE ensues. "What the hell!? What is this?" she demands, struggling to break free to no avail, growling in anger as she struggles to reach her sword.

"GONNA KILL YOU!" She roars, lunging for one of the Sylphs once the effect wears off, charging to bring her sword down on one of the two, her blade blazing bright.
Yuna Kagurazaka Of course, Kagura quaffs a healing potion as well, filling her HP back up while the group is on their way back to the clearing. She's not sure why they all need to gather around the cauldron - is there something they need to chant, or anything? It doesn't take this many people to add ingredients and stir ... especially given that it only takes the shorter of the NPC Sylphs to do the actual stirring. She tries to decypher the incantation the taller Sylph is using -

The Paralysis effect hits her right as she's starting to cough at the sudden cloud of green gas, which is ... awkward, to say the least. She's trying to figure out what she can do while the NPCs laugh and the tree becomes animated.

Then the paralysis wears off, and Kagura finishes coughing before readying her shield and her harp. She was expecting a quest boss; she wasn't expecting THIS. And Tana's trapped inside the monster, putting her in harm's way if the others aren't careful. Although, if somebody could get a weapon to her ...

"Everyone, try and immobilize the Treant!" Kagura suggests, even as she starts playing a lively tune on her harp - and begins singing, or rather chanting, along with it. It's a combination of innate Puca magic and Alfheim incantation, amounting to a Haste spell and accuracy buffs for her allies - which should include Tana as well. If she can work some defensive buffs in as well, all the better - but she's going to be busier playing support music than trying to join the fight.
Iria Paralysis. Whether it's from gas, or a spell, or a booby trap, Iria hates it. She finds herself in need of a cough drop as she starts coughing and finds herself caught in place for a moment. "Well, this just gets better and better!" Iria comments sarcastically in between coughs. Eventually, the gas loses its effect, Iria stops coughing, and she can move again.

And now the monster appears, and Iria goes wide-eyed for a moment. "Holy hell!" She exclaims, and while she knows that Tana's trapped inside and doesn't want to hurt her, she also knows something has to be done. Iria attempts to go in and deliver a special sword technique that is designed to stun her enemies. Whether it'll work on this thing, though, is anyone's guess.
Reker "Why can't anyone ever just be like 'Hey good job, here's your reward!?" Reker does not like traps. He gets hit by the paralyze effect, and goes down from the effect. It takes time before it ticks off, allowing him to get back up to his feet.

He doesn't know if he's going to be able to do enough damage to this thing, five health bars and all he has is some throwing kives. At Kagura's suggestion, however, he gets an idea. Pulling out a pair of blades, he whips up an ice based sword skill to channel into them, and flings one towards the root system of the treant, while the other goes for one of the arms, aiming to imobilize the limb (hah) and possibly freeze it solid to allow someone else to break it.
Cirra Constantine     Taking a health potion on the way back to the quest objective, Palmira stands back as she watches the animation of the two slyphs. "...Most quests don't go into this much detail." When the green gas starts to spread, Palmira tenses "What.." But the Paralyze effect hits her immediately. "Guh, what kind of quest is this..?!"

When the effect lifts, Palmira pulls out her trident and sets upa defensive position, "Five helath bars?!" that's more then she's seen before. "Tch." She runs forward, spinning the trident around and using it swipe away an attack from the undead treant. "Watch out for swipes!" She shouts to the rest of the group as she wall runs right up the side of the treant, and spins as she jumps off, slamming down with her heel to invoke a stunning kick."
Tomoe Tomoe with the items recoverd it was time to head back to meet up with the rest to the quest givers. She goes from smiling to frowning as she starts to understand what's just hapepned. She doesn't think much about NPC's knowing thier name given the game's plot? Most players who do story quests get some level of reputation with the various factions and nations in the game after all. She's then caught with a fairly nasty debuff. It was good job breaking it hero sort of quest, she should have been more wary but she had fallen for it like everyone else. There was no need to be mad at any of her friends as she finally gets lose.

"A Tree? A Undead /tree/."

It was time to get to work and Tomoe started to chant, a spell. Runes dance about her and Tomoe basically forms the blading sword setting her blade on fire and then she rushe at the undead tree popping off all her taunts as she goes.
Kirito Hmmm. Kirito blinks a few times at Lednor, pondering. She seems like just a newbie to VRMMO! ... but perhaps something bothers him, for his gaze lingers unusually long. "Yeah, mobs usually just derez-burst into pixels. Don't usually see THAT." There's always exceptions, aren't there?

He follows along Kirito's gaze narrows a bit, suspicion brewing sharply at the green haze. GREEN ALWAYS MEANS POISON except when it's also an antidote after all!

Then it blows over the group and his instincts rile. ... A few instants too late! "No--" PARALYZE!

Kirito has had some -really bad experiences- with this status effect in particular. His heartrate starts soaring in panic as people around him are all forced to fall over, kneel, and he finds himself tumbling forward with his arms splayed out.

THIS IS NOT COOL! VERY NOT COOL!

The sinking feeling in his gut only gets WORSE when Tana's taken captive. THAT's sure not typical for quests! He sucks in a breath and rises with a freakish martial arts flip that requires considerable player skill and coordination, fingers already flying into his menu. PANIC has set in and he wants this thing DEAD. This is eeerily stepping into 'not quite just a game' territory in Kirito's mentality.

"Lednor! Watch your health this fight! This thing'll be big and slow if it's like other Treants. Rapiers are all about speed. So let's see what you can do. Everyone, it's an undead plant monster! Use fire and light! Avoid darkness and wind! Keep an eye on Tana's HP, there might be some gimmick to fighting this thing!"

Kirito's sweating beads as he thumbs through his menu and finally hits what he wants. SECOND WEAPON EQUIP!

A second blade materializes on his back in its scabbard. It, like the first, bears the white wyvern emblem of Lizbeth's smithing shop. With one swift motion Kirito draws his blade black as obsidian in his right hand and a crystal blue sword in his left and DIVES FORWARD into a full charge for the creature.

He has one major strategy ready. Treants tend to be big and slow, but crushingly strong. Still, HIS PARRY SKILL IS MAXED OUT. The moment the thing begins one of its swipes... he is RIGHT THERE, with BOTH his blades shining with the unmistakable light of an ORIGINAL SWORD SKILL.

Kirito might have only one -really original- sword skill to his name, the one-handed 'Deadly Sins', but...

"Try this!" The Black Swordsman raises his swords, crossed over one another. It's a peculiar thing to see, but the purpose of this largely-stationary Sword Skill's made clear when the Treant's limb slams into the glowing block and can go no further. Snapping his blades out to either side Kirito seamlessly transitions in the next second to ANOTHER Sword skill?!

"SHINING RADIAL!!" Kirito brings his blades out up and outwards, both gleaming with Light energies... and begins a frenzy of back-and-forth horizontal chops that leave glowing scars in the air. It transitions into stepping forward with the swords being held vertically and striking multiple times through the spinning!
Nagato     As the boss fight starts, Silica's right, the two Sylphs are struck and show IMMORTAL OBJECT and Desdemona's and Lednor's attacks bounce off with a heavy shock, doing no damage to the NPC's. However, that damage is going to go somewhere! The vines that surround Tana squeeze hard and throw an electric shock at the Cait Sith, dropping her HP some, with a loud scream of pain from the captured cat. "D... don't .. do that again." she whines out, panting hard as she watches her raid group's HP. If only there was something she could do inside this, aside from being bound up.

Meanwhile, buffs are applied and, in this situation, are doubled upon Tana, so there's hopefully no more 'mistakes'. Iria's stun tech does stun it for a brief moment, before the treant FLAILS wildly at Iria, trying to knock her aside and poison her! It groans out loudly and the cage Tana's in buckles slightly, only to come back up... while Reker's ice based sword skill freezes one of the limbs that was going right at him and now it's an ice covered limb trying to smack at Reker!

Palmira's stunning kick lands home as the treant does try to smash itself into Palmira, the stun, like Iria's, only lasts a brief second before it goes back to groaning loudly and FLAILING at Palmira now, trying to crush her under limbs! Tomoe, however, seems to get the best idea along with Kirito's shouting. The taunts get Tomoe the attention she deserves as four limbs, ready for attacking others, move to fall RIGHT ON TOP of her!

Kirito's own strategy works as well, the limb going to attack him is parried off expertly and the light based skill strikes home, giving the treant glowing red scars and knocking it back. That weak point hit does shock Tana once more, but it does significantly less damage than before the buff.
Silica     Silica shifts stance, and leaps back away from a flailing tree limb, nimbly backflipping away from the strike, before reaching for her dagger and drawing it with a resonant 'shing'. "Everyone! I'm going to use Pina's Bubble Breath... time your biggest attacks with it. On my count!" she calls to her companions. "3." she grips her dagger, the brilliant light of a Flame-type Sword Skill filling the short metal. "2!" She tenses, virtual muscles tightening as she prepares to pounce, a coiled spring building up to release. "1!" She grips the ground to steady herself. "Pina! Bubble Breath!"

That's the cue, and as the Dragonling rears back to unleash its stunning barrage, Silica leaps forwards, chasing the trail of bubbles with a heavy overhead slash, which lashes out with a 'blade beam' of flames at the Undead Treant.
Alexis Maaka     CLONG!

Desdemona looks in confusion at both the sylph and her sword, before she speeds away at the treant. Her sword flourishes and she hears Silica's message. "GOt it!" She says, before she begins to burn bright with flames, her sword a blazing blade now. "ERUPTING! BURNING! SLASH!" She roars, dishing out fire damage to the zombie just by being close to it, and brings her sword down on the undead creature.
Reker Well that...Sort of worked? Reker wishes he had his satchel charges, but he'll make due. He falls backwards as the ice covered arm comes in, using his cait sith agility to roll with the tumble and make it look intentional as the icey hand gouges out the ground in front of him.

He hops up onto his feet and then jumps backwards. Seems that Silica and Pina are going to unleash some kind of big attack, so he doesn't want to miss out on that.

"Do we really need to call out attack names? It gives away any tactical advantage." He could understand if there was a voice command component of the attacks, but there doesn't seem to be that he can tell. Still he guesses he'll play along. He drops back one more step, and then pulls up multiple blades from his bandolier, "STEEL RAIN!" He unleashes all of the blades in two vertical arcs, aiming to strike up and down the length of the zombie treant with blades charged to explode.
Iria Something's wrong. Either the sushi she had for lunch earlier today wasn't properly prepared and she's got food poisoning... or that creature just poisoned her itself. More than likely the latter. Needless to say, that combined with being knocked down does not make for a good combination in Iria's book.

She manages to get up quickly, but the pain from the poison makes it hard to move. "Unngh... this is bad..." She mutters as she tries to grit her teeth through the poison's discomfort. "Worse than... that time Fujikuro cooked... dinner..."
Tomoe Tomoe is now moving to parry the strikes with her burning blade, it's a good thing she popped a pot before the trip back here or she'd be in a bit of trouble in terms of her hit points. She's not down, she's not out of it and she's now moving to keep most of the thing's attacks on her, the dawn breaker moves shifting and striking out as she can she'll start moving though to keep th thing chasing her a bit and to tie it up more.

"Just keep laying into the attacks!"

Tomoe seems to be tanking the posion but then again she's kittedf out to restit a lot of debuffs that could cause a tank to go down. Even if it's cost a pile of cash to do so.
Sanary Rondel The warning from Palmira gives Lednor some advance warning on what the Undead Treant might be capable of, and she even manages to mostly avoid its wide-reaching strikes with carefully timed leaps! She still looks rather unsteady on her landings and even her ascents, though, almost as if she's not quite used to jumping so high. Kirito's warnings to keep her health up, meanwhile, even have her exercising some more caution in grabbing another potion to top off her health. "G-got it! Avoid the swipes, keep health up, we're faster than it... Okay!"

She sounds determined enough, at least, even if her strikes end up doing nothing but harming Tana. "Crap.. S-sorry!" She shouts in response, although she cna't afford to apologize to her for long before drawing her attention back to the task at hand. "If we're doing damage to her at the same time, then... Be careful not to attack when those defense boosts wear off!"

She's learning! Sort of. Silica's call for a timed attack reaches her, and the red-haired spriggan narrowly avoids the backswing of one of those limbs before readying her rapier closer to her again. Silica did call for everyone to use their strongest attacks, and Desdemona and Reker are already busting out impressive sounding attacks of their own, but what does Lednor have besides Linear?

Well, no sense holding back and not giving it a shot. Lednor rushes for the Treant's side with her rapier tilted upwards, then practically hurls herself into the monster with the rapier thrusting low at the last moment with a faint glow. That attack is followed by...

"Starry Chariot Requiem!" ... Even more thrusting! Alas, there's no special effects or even lighting past the first strike, indicating that she might just be attacking haphazardly there.
Cirra Constantine     Palmira manages to land in that split second the treant is stunned, only for it's branches to come thrashing down on top of her. Her health bar drops for the first two strikes, until she rolls to the right, sliding as she stands back up with one hand. So status effects on triggerr a rage reaction. Tricky.

The Imp woman lifts her had as Silica announces a plan and nods her head. She takes off at a run across the clearing, the flailing branches trying to catch up with her. "I'm going in!"

The imp deploys her wings and loops up into the air, twisting around as she comes diving back at the Treant. The spear is spun around and held tightly in the crook of her elbow to prevent it from slipping "HA!"

The Imp descends on the treat like a piledriver, immediatly kicking off and working into a combo of diagonal slashes as she lands on the ground and immediatly kicks up again into another stun kick before spinning the trident aroundher body and going for a goring uppercut. Her only original sword skill.
Kirito Kirito's not coming through this unscathed. Catching that blow on his blades did shave off health, but the point of Cross Block is taking advantage of Parry to its absolute maximum to minimize the damage incurred from that kind of stunt!

Through excellent timing he recovers from Skill Lock before anything terrible happens, but Tana's situation has him SCOWLING even as he calms down slightly from the moment of panic. Maybe he went a little too crazy there, but now he's focused again!

"Good That's much better timing!" He praises Lednor's sudden show of improvement, but he can't help but look around briefly at some of the attacks being unleashed...

    Particularly... Lednor's.

    ... BOGGLE.

He's going to have to go over some things with her later. Noooooooooooooooooooooobs.

With an aggravated sigh the Black Swordsman darts her way, ready to provide defense and cover for Lednor. He's doubting she'll be nimble enough to dodge this thing!

But he has two swords out right now, and he makes the most of it by unleashing a freakish frenzy of blows, close to six a second. Even without a Sword Skill backing it up, that's going to shave off a decent bit of health!
Yuna Kagurazaka Kagura makes a face; she really doesn't have any spells that are going to do more than buff her allies and debuff the enemies. She should probably switch over to fighting directly, but any advantage could be valuable ... and since she's explicitly *not* a heavy hitter, keeping up the buffs is probably the best she can do.

What she can do better, though, is to turn up the defensive buffs for Tana. With the Undead Treant leeching away Tana's HP, Kagura just hopes that additional defensive buffs will help slow down the damage.
Nagato     With all those attacks, two health bars are shaved off, and the monstrous treant starts sucking on Tana's HP Bar, it's a DPS race now! Tana's health bar goes from 3/4ths to half quickly, but the defensive buffs reapplied slow down that damage trickle. Tana's curled up on the stump she's on in that cage, shivering... this wasn't what she was expecting from a quest, she thought it'd be done earlier! Talk about no research, and now she's got her raid group embroiled in this.

The Bubble Breath is fired and that 'blade beam' from Silica strike home, some of the bubbles hit Tana's face but do nothing to her, while chunks of HP are taken from that boss meter. The fire that was on the blade lights up the Treant even more and one could see the health bar slowly dissipate... yay for status effects! Along with Desdemona's slash upon the now on fire treant, it sets it even more on fire and it quickens its pace, the red cut upon the treant grows wider from where Desdemona slashed!

Reker's own 'Steel Rain' strikes home, digging in everywhere on the Treant's front and inside where Tana is... the exploding blades cause a good chunk of damage to the treant, but also to the vines around Tana to which they respond by squeezing tightly around their captive, taking off some more HP from it, and Tomoe's tanking quite well, her strikes doing damage, but the fact the treant seems heavily focused upon Tomoe as it reaches back and decides to slam that ice covered limb right into the Dawn Breaker!

Tana tries to give a thumbs up to Lednor but that last squeeze has caused the Cait to pass out, but those thrusting attacks from Lednor chip more and more health from the treant, combined with Palmira's own OSS, it helps chunk the third health bar down to a quarter of its HP! Kirito's frenzy of blows strike home, that freakish frenzy of blows tearing up into the Treant's HP, knocking it down to two of five health bars remaining, and it's still going down thanks to the DOTS!
Silica     Silica lands after her strike, Skill Lock holding her in place for a few moments... but thanks to Tomoe's distraction, she gets away with the reckless assault.

As she looks over the party, she blanches a bit. Damn it, Asuna isn't here! How could she forget! She gathers up, and leaps back, to the same kind of distance that Kagura's staying at. She shifts her equipment from the Dagger to a small crystal wand, and begins chanting a Group Healing spell. She sequentially casts the healing spell, then throws out a couple Antidote spells for Iria and Tomoe, then shifts her focus to keeping Tana from dying.
Sanary Rondel It's fine, Kirito. At least Lednor's got more than one skill. If things go the right way, she might even reveal a third!

Just not right now. Tana's faltering stance actually gets a look of concern from her, and Lednor soon adjusts her own strategy slightly to compensate. Stabbing it in the main body is one thing, but what if she focuses lower? Trees have roots they need to live, so something like this must surely have a weakpoint somewhere around there that she can use an actual Sword Skill on!

"M-maybe this... This should help!" Without having to close any distance, Lednor can focus almost entirely on attacking. She's cutting it a little too close as she throws herself over the Treant's limbs as they swing by, still taking a hefty amount of damage that's thankfully mitigated by Silica's healing spell. She has to focus more on damage than survival here, after all, so Lednor's next move is to draw her rapier back for rapid stabs into what looks like the Treant's roots. These have a more pronounced glow to them compared to her earlier attacks, though, as she's actually using Oblique repeatedly!

She just hasn't thought of a cool way to shout it out yet.
Tomoe Tomoe is now having fun even with the trick quest? Her friends are just laying down a crazy amount of firepower here one way or another. IT's A heck of a figh and she's tyring to make sure Tana is nnot harmed as they try to get her out. She moves the Dawn Breaker to intercept again and attemps to drive the burning blade through the brance even as her friends keep going.

"Ah there we go! That's how you do Dots!"

She also keeps up distraction and spams several big taunts while Silica works to keep Tama from dying and everyone else lays on the DPS.
Cirra Constantine     Landing from a backflip after landing her OSS, but immediatly freezes in skill lock. "Tch-!" She's forced to stand in place as she watches her friend be slowly drained of HP. Her eye narrrow as her teeth grit. If this was reality she could burn her blood for MP and end this more quickly. But here, her eyes dart to one side, then another as she tries to strain against the skill lock as her breathing comes faster.

Too much of the monster's health left, everyone just blew their biggest attacks and their health is dropping fast without a primary healer. Tick-tick-tick...

THE skill lock releases and PAlmira surges forward, grasping at healing crystal from her pocket and crushing it in one hand, bringing her HP back up.

The Imp leaps form side to side, dodging branches, rolling, leaping back up and yelling as she punches at the midsection of the tree, trying to to punch through the bars of the prison, to strike Tana with her fist?!

And a second healing crystal, breaking in her fingers on top of the Cait Sith.
Alexis Maaka     Desdemona tries to resist the fire damage, thankfully not difficult thanks to her species choice, and she takes to the air, flying high as she covers her blade in additional flames once more. They need to take this thing down -fast-, which is all the reason for Des' to pop an MP potion and build her mana back up.
R    "RAAAAAAGH!" She roars loudly as she goes right for the monster itself, her sword thrusting forth to impale and roast it hard. "BURNING STAKE!" Not the most PC of attack names, no.
Iria Finally healed from the poison, Iria gives a thumbs up to her colleague who helped her, before staring at the Treant again. "All right, I'm alive again! Now let's finish what we started, shall we?" She narrows her eyes and smiles evilly. "I'm gonna make you regret messing with us!" Of course she knows she can't use lethal force still, it would be too dangerous.

Instead, Iria decides to only use a couple weak attacks to avoid the possibility of serious damage. At the same time, she dances around the creature, attempting to keep it distracted so her allies can attack it.
Reker "Shit, sorry!" Reker calls out to Tana, having clearly not thought that through. It takes a few moments for his skill lock to free him up, and he is back on the move again. He's gotta stay light on his feet...Honestly he thinks he might look into a re-roll, a weird thought to have in the middle of a fight, but this whole knife throwing thing isn't working as well as he'd hoped! His DPS sucks!

Still once he's clear, he shifts around and draws a new set of knives, aiming for points where the tree creature has already been struck by the others. He doesn't know if it'll do extra damage, but it's not going to hurt to try.
Yuna Kagurazaka Kagura grimaces as she sees Tana's HP dribbling away further and further, and while the others are carving away (all but literally) at the Undead Treant's own HP meters, it's a race against time for Tana. There's only one thing she can really think of to try ... and it's not something she's done before, but she *has* learned some Undine-style healing magic. She's already combining incantations with the Puca racial music skills ...

The harp-playing singer begins incanting again, enunciating the syllables as clearly and exactly as she can, and weaving her music to help focus the effects on Tana *WITHOUT* letting the Treant benefit from it. If it works for Tana, then Kagura plays a second variation - this time to help heal the whole party. Nobody's dying during her performance if she can help it ... !
Kirito Up there on the front lines Kirito moves like a madman, diving to the side and rolling and coming up with coordination and skill that few players possess. It's not just Skills on his character data leveled through grinding, but clear displays of reflexes and coordination that take years to refine and integrate into a fighting style. Every time the tree takes a swing he ducks expertly, knowing exactly its range and speed. Not a single second's wasted... and because of that...

His DPS ratio on the party display, if anyone actually had the stats up, is a bit frightening. Especially considering he's not using Sword Skills right now!

Because the few times the Treant does take a swing at him or Lednor, he activates one of those! Typically Slant or Snake Bite or some other simple one-handed skill - and batters the blow away with a mighty spray of light. Each clash leaves him momentarily stunned, but also negates the Treant's swings!

Which gives him ample time to view Lednor's style though. For some reason he's taken an odd interest in her this fight... maybe just why will become apparent someday, but who knows.

    "Much better!"
Nagato     With concern to the healers, Tana's health is getting quite low, but with Cirra's reckless move, the crystal breaks upon impact with the Cait Sith and part of her health is restored and with Yuna's healing music, it helps restore most of Tana's missing health, bringing her back into the green zone, fortunately. But with all the damage coming the Tree's way, from Iria's light attacks, Desdemona's flames upon her blade make a huge chunk in the HP dealt, Reker's own knives dig deep and continue to chunk on the tree's health, while the dots that are still on it eat away at its HP, faster than it can heal by sucking on Tana's own life force.

Lednor's attacks strike home along with Kirito's amazing DPS and with both of their combined strikes, the last bit of HP falls away from the tree.. but, like the last bit of mobs, it has a final attack of its own. Tana is taken out of the cage, teleported into one of the branches... and is launched as a projectile towards the group before dissipating into the red dust!

While Tana's flying head first into the group, the giant CONGRADULATIONS! shows up... and the rewards menu pops up, granting everyone a sizable bit of money and some rare materials to create some armor and weapons with, not a bad reward for it all!

The two Sylph NPC's back away slowly... before teleporting off to who knows where, the quest done... and the forest around starts showing its normal, lively colors.
Silica     Silica breathes a sigh of relief as the Boss finally dips down to its last Red Zone, but... it has a Deathblow attack of its own!

    Suddenly flying Cait Sith!

"I've got her!" Silica drops the wand, the crystal gleaming as it dissipates into her inventory, before leaping to tackle Tana out of the air, aiming to cushion her fall... and taking some damage for her trouble.
Iria Finally the enemy is defeated, and Tana is free. Iria drops to one knee while catching her breath, but then she stands up again and smiles. She looks to the others and says, "Great job everyone!" A thumbs up from her as she flips her brown hair. "Been awhile since I've had such a good fight, honestly!"
Alexis Maaka     Phew. Desdemona passes out high fives and thumbs up as she sheathes her sword, and does that fake-lunge as the sylphs turn tail and run. "Better run, you little shits. NExt time, we won't be so nice." She says, popping her neck. "So...Uh. Guess we're done."
Reker "Yeah!" Reker hops up into the air, pumping a fist into the sky, "Great work! We nailed that damn thing!" He looks at the rest of the group after landing back down, "So that was fun, huh? Anyone want this crafting stuff? I'm not really much of a crafter.."
Sanary Rondel SanaLednor's learned her lesson from the first fight, and she's on the lookout for the Undead Treant to do something crafty in its death throes. As expected, it does indeed do something in the form of hurling its hostage outwards. She breaks into a run to try and catch Silica catching Tana...

... Only to get sidetracked by the suddenly-appearing rewards menu and not noticing that she's running right at Kirito. One awkward collision later, and she's stuck apologizing profusely for... Probably not for too long, actually. Just enough to keep the act going, at least! And once she's done with that.. "Erk.. G-good work, everyone! We really... Kicked that tree's butt, huh?"

Regulating her own speech is starting to become somewhat difficult over these long periods of time. She can't help it if she's actually starting to have fun with all this!
Yuna Kagurazaka They did it. They managed to clear the quest, they survived that boss fight, and Tana didn't die in the course of it.

Kagura lets out a deep sigh of relief ... but she has enough vim and whimsy to play a little victory riff on her harp, before switching back to some of that healing music. "Is everybody more or less okay?" she asks the others - although she's already restoring HP for the group. Not quite as fast as when she was chanting along with the tune, but it's noticeable, if anyone's watching their HP gauges.

Of course, hanging back like that doesn't mean she was eligible for any of the special drops - just the money and basic materials. It's not to be turned down, though, and Kagura will tap the 'accept' icons when she's not still playing.
Tomoe Tomoe is pretty happy as the entire team effort is able to bring the monster down in the end and rescue Tama but seeing that word? Anyone watching would See Tomoe flinch like she'd been punched with a brass knuckle for a moment her good spirits return and she's not even going to be likely aruing about loot she looks at the mats? That's the real prize for her out of this but she did have a lot of fun.

"Not bad, they are getting more clever with their quest design."
Kirito The tree... finally falls! Kirito takes a leap back and away IN CASE IT EXPLODES OR SOMETHING, because that seems to be a running theme on this quest. ... Thankfully, it doesn't. So his shoulders sag as relief spreads through him. As before he swipes his blades and sheathes them across his back, and looks UP instead of down. Up towards Aincrad hovering distantly away in the sky...

Not down at his loot menu.

... Not down at Lednor, who suddenly BOWLS INTO HIM!

"Uauh?!" The boy squawks, toppling over rather helplessly.

So much for all of that style a few moments ago...
Cirra Constantine     Panting with exercison as the Treant begins to fade around her and Tana, Palmira takes a step back-

Only for CAIT SITH MISSILE to be flung overhead, bowling her over to land on her back with a *flump*.

    "..." sigh.
Nagato     With Tana becoming a flying missilecat, she lands right into Silica's catch and slumps.. "Nnngh... Ho... how long was I out?" she questions, "Did we... win?" comes another question... "MY QUEST?! Oh don't tell me I have to repeat it, that was a pain..." a frown is there, but hey, rewards and a quest complete in her journal... "Mmm, much better. Thanks for your help everyone, I really appreciate you coming out to help, I didn't think I could do this myself and I ended up as bait for this thing."

Tana pouts some, rolling off Silica and offering a healing crystal... "Umm... sorry for being so much trouble everyone. I'll see about getting something properly made for you all with the materials we got!" she smiles, "I ... have an idea." with this, she sends friend requests to those who don't have it and takes a few notes.. "Ah, if you need me to help with anything, let me know, I think I have a lot of spare healing crystals!"
