Alden A nice, cool day in the Crystal valley!. A perfect day to relax, be silly, and just hang out with friends... and that's what Alden was planning to do!. He even went all the way to personally pick up Sokka, a rather nice guy he met recently, and brough him over!.
The digimon was on his champion stage, large, feral, somewhat scary, and surprisingly fluffy periwinkle wolf giving the human a ride... and seemingly enjoying it quite a bit!. He goes out of the way to howl and run around a few times, jumping, and even showing off one of his attacks, ice breath!, or to be more precise, shooting a block of ice from his muzzle. "What do you think?" he asks with a grin, looking over his shoulder, "Do I make a good combat mount?". Katze was sitting on a picnic blanket, watching them!, and sneakily recording everything, to show the digimon the next tim ehe refused to give her a ride.
Sokka Sokka clung on for deep life, his eyes totally glowing. "WOO HOO!THIS! IS! AWESOME!" He eventually flung out his boomerang, actually cleaving through the ice before it returned to him. Because boomerang always came back. After that, he gave a nod. "Oh yeah. You are like, the COOLEST battle mount EVER! And this is compared even to polar bear dogs!" Oh, Appa would be SO mad to hear that.

"You even come with your own armor! And a convenient carry size!" The rookie stage. He, of course, had gone full preparations for this experience. Wearing his water tribe battle armor, complete with helm and sword in hand. "and the ice attack! You're like, the coolest mount EVER!" He was so going to get him full battle armor eventually.
Alden The wolf chuckled, wagging that long, ropey tail, rumbling beneath the armored male, not that he weighted much!. He watched the boomerang curiously, and seemed surprised when it returned, "That's a neat weapon!" he replies, and perks one ear, "Polar bear dogs?" he asks, "Oh!, I think I saw one... Korra had one, was a friendly fuzzy beast." he murrmurrs, panting a little bit.
The digimon chuckles more at the carry size, "And this is not my strongest form!" he says happily, "But I don't think I can give you a proper ride in it, unless you like riding on the shoulder of people.". The wolf carries Sokka to his meat plant garden, several shrubs and other kinds of plant life that seem to be growing fruit!... wait, that's not fruit... is that bacon... and what looks like legs of lamb?, weird plants. There is even a steak plant or two. "Maybe we can get a snack, and can introduce you to a couple of my friends."
Sokka Sokka held on, nodding. "Yeah! Who? Whatever! This is awesome! This is the coolest..."

Then there was the garden. His eyes opened wide and he stared. "Is that... can... can it be?"

He sniffed the air and his eyes went wide. "It... it is! It's a MEAT GARDEN! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!" he yelled, lifting his sword high into the air in excitement, eyes just glowing. First thing he'd go for? A steak. Well, starting a fire if need be.
Alden Alden ponders, "I'm not sure, Toph seemed to know her!, something about avatar?" he mumbles, before leaning down to let the hyperactive boy climb down if he wanted. The meat seemed in different states of growth in different plants, there was a steak plant with what seemed like fully cooked steaks, a couple meat legs, and some bacon. "I think there are a couple steaks, bacon and legs ripe for eating, if you like to eat it warm, we can start a fire." he agrees, "It can't hurt cooking it a bit more, to get it well done." he says.
"Got these plants from my homeworld." he explains, "We get meat like that, since... there are only digimon at home and you can't really get meat from one, if we get damaged we just... turn into data and dissipate in the air." he returns to his rookie form to help pick up the food.
Sokka Sokka pose was in heaven. He actually skipped from tree to treee, picking meat, doing an excited little spin, tossing some bacon in his mouth. He was in heaven. Seriously. This was the best place ever.

Soon he had a fire going and was prepping to cook... but as fast as he was eating the prep meat, there might not BE any of it left TO cook.
Alden The gabumon chuckles, gathering a bit of meat for himself, and placing it in a basket, "Oh come on, don't eat everything, Sokka." he teases, gnawing on some bacon even as he started the fire. "Leave some for later, I'll even give you a sprout to take home." he offers.
Nothing much else happens, besides Katze appearing with some seasonings, and mentioning she got a message from a couple of friends coming soon to meet this 'Sokka'.
Sokka Sokka gasped and totally hugged Alden. "I don't know what a digimon is. But it is the best EVER!" A plant he could grow at home to grow meat! Like, how was this NOT the coolest thing ever? Soon, he had a plate full of meats and he was relaxing against a tree, eyes closed, chewed on pieces of bacon.

"You know, this is what it's all about. Some relaxation, some fun, a bit of meat, a nice sunny day. could life be any better?"
Alden Alden accepts the hug!, he even returns it, doglike tail wagging. "Well, digimon is... hmm, well, creatures like me, made from data, as opposed as natural things that are made of meat I guess, it's kind of hard to explain." he mumbles. He sits besides the happy human and heats up some meat. "Yeah, it's nice!, been a long time since I was able to relax like this." he says, stretching.
And as soon as Alden's food is done, company arrives!, two creatures to be precise. One of them is a small bipedal bear!, black furred bear with a white furred snout adn a spot on his belly. Said bear was wearing a baseball cap, which had the word 'bears' on it, and had several straps wrapped around each 'hand'. It swipes some bacon and waves cheerily to Sokka, "Hi!".
If the bear was cute, the other one is twice as much, an even shorter creature with long, LONG ears, white colored with green markings, and short limbs!. He walks closer, bowing politely to Sokka in greeting, before reaching to snag some more food from Alden's plate, using one ear to scoop bacon. "Hey!, get your own food you two." the Gabumon protests.
Sokka Sokka blinked a few times. Then... "Sooooo cuuuuuuute." And they both got hugs. Because sokka don't give a crud. Soon he was relaxing back against a tree, humming a bit and picking at his teeth.

"So, made of data? so you're all off flow charts and things like that? Or is this one of those... electric things they had at the union? The televisions? Those seemed pretty cool, all things considered. You come from that?"
Alden Alden seems pleased, looking curiously at Sokka for a reaction, wondering how he'd feel about the bear's other form. In any case, he nods, "Sorta!." he says softly, "It's related to computer things yeah." he says, humming back and finishing his food. "You are a great guy, all the other people I meet seem so serious all the time." he says.      The bear takes the hug and returns it tightly!, has a reputation to keep, before swiping some meat from Sokka too. The bunny thing laughs, "Thank you." he chitters. "You Think Alden looks cool?"
Sokka Sokka nodded. "Well, I'd love to hear more about it. If I'm going to be part of this union, I'd better learn how you all do your... thing, in case stuff goes weird. I already gotta get a bunch of books from the library about all this stuff."

He picked some stuff out of his ears, before glancing over. "He turns into a giant battle dog I can ride into battle. How is that NOT the most awesome thing EVER?"
Shokudaikiri     The sound of whistling might be heard from afar. Whistling and hoofbeats. There's a merry tune being whistled by someone on horseback. Soon the source of the sound will come into sight, a man with short black hair, riding on a white horse with feathers. In contrast to the paleness of the horse, the man seated atop the horse is dressed in black. It's a tidy-looking, well-ordered suit -- white shirt, black tie, black blazer and slacks, and dress shoes.

There are a couple things that seem out of place for a modern military-looking uniform -- the armored pauldron he wears on his right shoulder, the leather harness across his torso, and the half-tasset threaded onto his belt. There's a sword slid into his belt, and he wears a patch over his right eye.

He doesn't appear to be doing anything really. Just riding, the horse at a walking pace, and the rider whistling a merry little tune while riding, observing his surroundings.
Alden The bear digimon chuckles, "Then let's show you what we can turn do!" he offers, stretching a bit, after taking away Alden's food, adn eating it of course. The two get up adn walk a bit, the bear first!. There is a bright glow around the little critter, before he seems to explode in 'voxels', quickly reforming into something big!.      The creature is as big as Sokka's new battlemount, and is quadruped too!, only, instead of a wolf, seems to be a fox!. If foxes would have long, somewhat worriedly thin torsos, and an extremely long, stretched snout showing fangs!. The fore and hindlimbs seem covered in leather armor, straps holding it. The fox tries to smile and walks around Sokka, a blur, and suddenly the fox is holding the boomerang in it's mouth!. "Ta-dah."
Sokka Sokka gives a laugh and, if given the boomerang back, would toss it out, letting the dog go ahead and catch it. Hey, giant horrifying mouth or not, it's still friendly and he's pretty chill. It seems like one of those weird spirit things, anyway. He glances over to the terriermon. "So, what about you?"

He was so going to have like, a dozen mounts by the time this was open.

Then he glanced over, oh, another one? He waved a hand. "Yo! Pull up a rock, bacon's good," he said with a big grin on his face. Friendly as ever.
Shokudaikiri     The call draws the rider's attention to where the Digimon and Sokka are relaxing. The man on the horse turns in that direction and directs the horse to quicken its pace a little. He is near to the site in short order, and dismounts. He leaves the reins on the saddle and walks the remaining distance to the place that the group is relaxing.

"Hi there," he offers. "Didn't expect to see anybody out this far. Though I s'pose I should have learned by now to expect anything." He chuckles. His friendly demeanor is at odds with the severity of his put-together look. This close, though, one can see that his remaining eye is a bright, vivid, metallic gold.
Alden Alden turns towards the new person when Sokka calls him out, and honestly, he is not familiar enough with military things to tell if somethign is amiss!. He waves a few times, smiling, "Hello!". He admires the rider and horse, "You are welcome to join us, we have enough food, and just relaxing a bit.". As far as teh eye detail... he is not particularly weirded out, he comes from a race of things that turn into walking tanks, and giant scary foxes!.

The digital fox chuckles, indeed returning the weapon, and bolts after it, he has some speed under those thin limbs!. Once again, he snags the weapon from mid air in a blur of movements, one that seems to involve his forelegs, and casually returns it, "Nice boomerang.".

The small bunny thing chuckles at the question, answering by moving aside and stretching a bit, before he repeats a process like the bear did!. This time, the result is a bipedal creature!. It's at least as tall as a normal adult, adn very... chubby, keeping the long ears from the previous form. It is wearing jeans, and a ammo bandolier!. The main detail, besides the fact that the fur is now black, is that the upper portion of his arms are replaced by oversized gun barrels! at the very tip, there are three metal 'digits'. He shows off by aiming away, the guns spinning, before he releases a barrage of green projectiles at a nearby crystal. At least it's not loud!. He also shows off another move, raising one 'hand', energy building on it!. Oddly, the energy takes... a bunny related shape, the orb of energy gaining bunny 'ears', before it dissipates, "I use it to punch things really hard." he explains.
Sokka Sokka nodded, eying the digimon. He'd even toss the boomerang again, the boomerang weaving around the trees this time. He was pretty accurate with it, it seemed. He grinned none the less, then eyed the bunny. "Wow, pretty--" And then the guns. his eyes went wide. "THAT'S AWESOME! How do you do that? Is it some kind of firework thing?" he asked, his eyes glowing again. He was soooo easy.

He glaced up at the guy. "Really? Trees filled with bacon and steak and you didn't expect to see people? Seems less missing the unexpected, more justn ot having a respectful respect for meat."
Shokudaikiri     The man with the eyepatch seems surprised to suddenly see bunnies transforming into mechabunnies! He blinks, seeming rather taken aback. "Wow," he marvels, at the display. Both of the change and of the energy (bun-ergy?!) orb. "I don't think I've ever seen creatures like you before. Mind if I ask what you're called?"

He takes a seat near the fire, pulling the sheathed sword from his belt and setting it across his knees as he sits tailor style on the ground. He keeps hold of the weapon at all times, it seems. Sokka's words get a smirk. "Well... yeah, true," he admits. "Though the crystal around it might deter many visitors. Looks pretty dangerous."
Alden Alden offers the man a grin, and reaches to offer a bit of food as well, "IT's understandable, I live in a nearby place, and use this spot to grow my meat plants, no one tends to come here." he says. He answers the question for the bunny, "We are digimon, digital creatures!, pleased to meet you, I'm Alden.". He sees Sokka's amazement at the armed bunny, "Pfft, that's nothing, want to see real guns?" he asks playfully.
The bunny chuckles and waves happily, posing a bit, generating two bunny energy blasts this time, "It's energy!, I am nto sure why it looks like a bunny tho!, I just focus my power in my hand, and it takes that shape!". Meanwhile, the Fox keeps chasing after the weapon, running at surprising speed, weaving through the trees as if boneless, and catching it mid air!. He returns to the gathering, offering the new person a friendly bow and a grin, "Greetings.". He does not try the trick with weapons this time, not until he knows the person at least!
Sokka Sokka grinned wide. "Sure! What's a gun?" he asked. "That thing on your arms? It seems pretty cool to me," he said with a big grin, tossing the boomerang one more time. He then glances to the crystal. "Really? It's just crystal. How'd that be dangerous unless you ate it?"

He paused and thought back to the old days. "Even then, I've seen plenty of edible crystals. Almost died from it, once even." He'd motion to the bacon for the new guy. Sokka was in super chill mode, he wasn't moving for a while.
Shokudaikiri     The man with the eyepatch accepts the offered food from Alden. "Ah, thanks!" He nods in greeting as Alden introduces himself. "Pleased to meet you, Alden!" he offers in a friendly manner. "I'm Shokudaikiri Mitsutada, favored blade of Lord Masamune Date." He sounds pretty proud of that, too. He speaks Masamune Date's name with fondness and respect.

He also nods to the words of no one coming out here. "That makes it a good place to put your base, though," he replies. Looking to the bunny Digimon he notes, "Well... it does kind of look like you, with the ears. It's your individual style. You have to have style! Never know who's going to be looking."

Sokka's words of crystals not being dangerous draws his single-eyed gaze then. "If you fell on them they'd be dangerous. Some of them are sharp enough to hurt, and big enough to impale," the golden-eyed man replies. "In fact, a crystal landslide would be a devasating attack to fend off attackers to this place. It'd cut through the ranks like a hot knife through butter."
Alden It's the bunny'mon that answers that, "Yep!, long range weapons." he says. The mentino of 'style' gets a chuckle, the energy fading as he moves to join the two humans, "You were right, Sokka is great." the bunny mentions, before turning to look at Shokudaikiri at the tactical talk, "That sounds smart, seems you are quite good at tactical thinking.".
While the Fox grabs the Boomerang, Alden grins to the two and walks a few feet, "Katze, stop spying, and lend me a hand?". The small shinki appears, holding a handheld device, and a small card of some sort, "Ready?" calls the catgirl, "Yes!". The gabumon takes a deep breath, mumbling something like 'please don't be pink'. Katze does something, the screen of the machine glowing, while Alden repeats a similar process from the other two digimon, if maybe brighter!. There is a weird glitchy noise in it..
When it ends, there is a large, 'bipedal' thing standing where the little gabu stands, a robotic creature, at least somewhat wolf in design, a large gatling gun taking the place of it's left arm, a missile launcher on the shoulder of the same side, , and a long device on the right shoulder, likely another gun. The eyes seem somehow closed, despite being little more than screens, "Am I pink?" he asks softly. The color of course, is a shiny, somewhat dark blue.
Sokka Sokka blinked and looked around, before shrugging. "yeah, I guess. But you could kind of say that about any group of rocks." He gave a light yawn. "Seems like a pretty stable area. All the trees growing around, not a lot of rocks on the ground, not much scuff marks from rocks being cleared, chances of a rock slide happening today for no real reason seems pretty slim."

"Well, unless you've got a lot of earth benders in the area. I don't know how far spread they are, though. They seem pretty rare outside of my home world."

And then another digivolution. And then his eyes go wide and his mouth falls open. "I... want... one..."
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri nods at the mention of tactical thinking. "It comes in handy sometimes. Strategic, actually. Strategic is pre-battle planning, tactical is in-battle planning. I'm better with tactics than strategy, but I'm okay at strategy. That's what Lady Iroha does. She handles the strategic side of things, I handle the tactical side."

He blinks at the tiny robot catgirl. "What is that? She's adorable." But then suddenly ROBOT WOLF! The sight of the robot suddenly appearing gets a wide-eyed look. "...Whoa." He manages to remember the question. "No, no you're not pink. You're a very nice shade of blue, at least from my perspective. I think I see like humans do."

Then he also remembers Sokka's words of a landslide! He nods. "Oh, yeah. I know it wouldn't happen accidentally," he assures Sokka. "Nothing saying someone couldn't cause one, though. Break of a bunch of pointed shards and set them up to fall when they pull a lever or something. That'd be great for a defense of the area."
Alden The robot wolf sighs in relief, and his posture loosens a bit, the gatling gun lowering until it points to the ground. He lets out a chuckle, at least the voice sounds normal, "Sorry for the odd question, still having troubles, turned pink a few times.". "Green too!, and oen time he was red with white spots!" calls the little catgirl. KAtze grins to Shokudaikiri and moves closer as she hears about the curiosity, "I'm Katze." says the catgirl, bowing politely and sitting next to him.
The robot digimon shows off a bit, making the gun spin up a moment, and swivel the shoulder mounted weapon a bit. He casually scans the others, simply noticing the weapons, and noticing that Shokudaikiri was different from Sokka!, but he does not particularly mind, and certainly is not sure 'how' is different, just had different readings. He walks closer, "In this form I am pretty good at range, I can fly too." he says with a cheerful tone.
The rabbit digimon mumbles, "Showoff, lucky I can't turn into my final form on my own, or I'd show Sokka a cool giant robot.". He resumes eating, listening to the explanations, "I see, I always get the two words confused, I am good at simple tactics, at least how to react in a combat." he says. The fox appears from nowhere, returning the boomerang, "Yep, he's good. He helps me coordinate our attacks better when we fuse.".
The bunny rubs his chin at the trap talk, "I can see that happening, but we might need some explosives or something."
Sokka Sokka nodded, glancing around. "Huh. That's not a bad idea. Perfect location for food, too. Could probably set up some traps with a bit of help from Toph. Yeah, if it came down to it, this'd make a good retreat spot. Good thing the war's over."

He gave a low yawn, still eying the giant robot. "I have seriously got to get a few of you guys. You're soooo cool. And you can fly, too? If we'd had one of you during the war, the fire nation wouldn't have stood a chance," he said with a big grin.

"Makes getting armor a bit redundant, I guess, with all that armor already on you." He took another piece of bacon before tossing the boomerang again.
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri chuckles a bit at the mention of the different colors Alden has turned while doing this in the past. "Think you'll get better at it with practice?" he asks. "I'm not sure if you can practice changing your form like that and get better at it." He smiles as the Shinki introduces herself, and bows from his seated position, a hand on his chest. "Pleased to meet you, Katze. If you were spying you probably heard my name, right?" He chuckles.

The man with the patch nods to the bunny-Digimon. And then at the suddenly appearing fox Digimon (gaaah! where'd he come from?!), seeming to jump a little as he reappears. "It's good to have someone handling both sides of the equation. Having a couple of sets of eyes on a situation is always better than just one."

Sokka's words get a nod too! "That's right. If meat grows on trees, it's not like you'd run out of food," he reasons. "Unless the enemy managed to get to the trees. And that would be part of the reason you'd put up defenses around the area anyway." A pause. "Of course, this's all theoretical anyway."

He turns his attention to the words of giant robots. "Mhm. I had some thoughts on that too. Sorta why I'm exploring the Multiverse. There's all kinds of power out there, and I'm hoping to find some help with Daraku. That's a demon in my world. Big, nasty thing. Serious bad news."
Alden Alden grins to Sokka, "Oh, I'd still need armor for the other forms." he begins, before adding, "But, yeah I thik I am fairly tough, I am not made of digizoid, but I think that it'll take a big hit to cause serious damage." he says softly, sitting besides Sokka, "Want a lift?" he offers with a happy sounding growl. The mention of a nasty, big thing gets a sigh, "SEems to be a theme in many places... we have our own potential world destroyer in my world, we keep it in check for now!" he says softly, "If I can help in any way, do let me know and I'll do my best to assist."
The fox chuckles softly at the reaction, "Sorry!, I am kind of silent and swift, was not my intention to startle you.". The bunny nods, "He is good at fighting, better than me really, so when we fuse we make a good fighter."
Sokka Sokka nodded, jumping to his feet. "Yeah, sure! And really, a demon? That's tough, man. That's some Avatar level stuff there. I'd help, but I'm just a guy with a boomerang, I'm not any good at that magic giant monsters things and, fortunately, we already took care of our big bad guy a few years back. Well, Aang did. Toph, Suki and I just wrecked his air fleet."

He looked up to the giant digimon, "Yeah, sure, a quick one!"
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri nods to the mention of big nasty things in worlds. "Does seem to be a unifying factor," he notes, with a smirk. Possibly hinting at his own theory about unification. But anyway. He bows his head. "Thanks. He hasn't reared his ugly head again yet, but he's been known to wait centuries before showing up again, so all we can do for the time being is wait."

Sokka talking about the ending of his own world's troubles gets a smile. "Congrats," he offers honestly. "Hope I Can talk about the demon of my world in past-tense once day." He quiets when Sokka stands to ride on the giant Digimon though.
Sokka Sokka would ride on the creature for a bit, before landing a few moments later, letting out a woooo of excitement. He lifted his arms up in the air! "THAT WAS AWESOME!" Then, of course, alden left and he was left alone with the guy.

"Nahhhh, I'm sure you will. Probably get some Avatar or something. Trust me, if our group managed to stop the fire nation, anything is possible. Because, well, most of us were completely hopeless when we started," he said with a laugh.
Shokudaikiri     "That's what we're hoping," Shokudaikiri replies. "That's why Lady Iroha was trained and brought me to life. The first of the sages brought a sword to life and drove off the demon once. We're hoping that, if we get enough sages trained up, that we'll be able to hit him with all we've got and finally take him out."
Sokka Sokka blinked a few times. "Wait, brought you to life? What's that mean?" he asked, cocking an eye and crossing his arms. "I thought you were human? Wait, are you.... ZOMBIE?" he gasped, pulling back from him.
Shokudaikiri     The yelp and Sokka's pulling back gets a blink, and Shokudaikiri raises the brow of his remaining eye. "What? No. She's a priestess, she'd just put a zombie back down," he replies. "I'm a sword." He picks up the sword that he's had across his lap and had at least one hand on the whole time. "This sword, specifically. Shokudaikiri. This sword is me. Lady Iroha is my sage. She released my soul from this sword and gave me a human form."

Placing the sword back across his lap, he explains, "Lady Iroha and me, we're from the first class of sage and tool spirit pair. The first sage was a priest brought one of the swords from the Warring States period to life. It worked against the demon, so he trained more. Lady Iroha was one of his students."
Sokka Sokka blinked a few times, staring at the sword. "That's... pretty cool, actually. I didn't know swords had spirits. But then, that's really more avatar stuff. I'm not any good at that kind of stuff."

He shrugged a bit, before smiling. "Hey, can you tell me if my sword has a spirit?" He drew the strange blade, holding it out. It was... weird. "I made it from a falling star."
Shokudaikiri     "Swords usually do," Shokudaikiri replies. "Also I'm over a hundred years old, and things that old usually gain a soul anyway. A thing that already had a soul, like a sword, usually gains self-awareness. But we're still in the sword, 'till the sage pulls us out."

As for the drawn blade? Shokudaikiri concentrates on the blade, trying to sense any life the blade may have in it. There's a long moment of silence from the sword spirit... before he blinks. "Not that I can sense," he replies. "That doesn't mean there's not one in there -- might be. But if it is, it's not enough like me for me to be able to sense it."
Sokka Sokka frowned, looking down, before shrugging. "Well, no matter. My sword is still my sword. Has saved my life and my friend's more times than I can count." He sheathed it. "Wouldn't change it for any sword in the world. Or multiverse."

"Really? I wonder if that's everywhere, or just in your world? Aang always did that spirit mumbo jumbo, I never put much mind to it."
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri nods. "Seems like a well-made blade," he comments. "The metal looks familiar, but I'm not going to assume." He gives a smile. Of the spiritual 'mumbo jumbo', he notes, "Well, from what I've seen, the worlds are pretty different. Even if they have similar rules, there's usually enough differences that checking things out is usually a good idea. I haven't been to your world, so I can't say one way or the other."
Sokka Sokka blinked a few times, then nodded. "Oh yeah, this sword is my baby. It was the first sword I ever had and well... heh heh. My teacher had me make it myself. He helped, of course."

He looked up. "yeah, there's a whole library filled on it, I kind of maxed out Toph's library card, heh."
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri's expression goes a little distant and fond as Sokka speaks of Sokka making the sword himself. "Your sword will remember you. Like I remember Osafune. I remember being made. I remember the months he spent folding the metal that would become my sword body, hammering it flat again, folding, hammering..." He sighs.

He blinks, coming back as he looks to Sokka again. "Filled on what?" he asks. But he chuckles as Sokka mentions maxing out Toph's card. "Oh boy. Hope she doesn't get too mad about that."
Sokka Sokka nodded, grinning down at it. "yup. It and boomerang have had my back for years now. Don't know where I'd be without it. I don't know if it'll ever remember me, but I know I'll never forget it."

He chuckled. "yeah, I should probably tell her when I'm not there..."
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri starts laughing then, as Sokka says he hasn't told Toph about her card. "Oh MAN. You are in SO much trouble," he chuckles. "Though maybe if you're just learning she won't mind. Just don't cause her late fees. That's a legit beating-worthy offense." He smirks.
Sokka Sokka gave a light laugh. "Nahhhhh. She beats me up pretty much as it is, I can't imagine it's much worse without it." He popped another piece of bacon in his mouth. "Seriously, grows on trees. Why didn't our world have this?"

he glanced to the sword. "Hey. Mind if I try it? It's cool if not, though."
Shokudaikiri     There's a chuckle at the mention of meat growing on trees. "I could think of a few recipes with this, now that I think about it..." He pauses, though, as Sokka asks to try the sword. There is a real moment of thought there. He's heard Sokka's voice on the Union channels. That means he can be trusted, right? And he seems like a nice enough fellow. They seem to share a few traits, one being a relaxed nature.

So, ultimately... Shokudaikiri nods. "Just be careful," he notes, as he offers the sword out. "It's actually a part of me. Like another body. Think of it like... if you could remove your arm without it hurting you, and someone wanted to wear your arm for a while." He snickers. "Ha, that's a funny thought."
Sokka Sokka grinned and got to his feet. He took the sword and, politely bowed when he took it. He drew the blade in his right hand and slashed the blade experimentally. He took a few steps, going through a few gestures.

His movements were sloppy, but agile. He still needed practice, but the natural talent and skill was there. And he treated the blade with the utmost respect, finally sheathing it and holding it out with both hands. "Thank you, it's a fine blade." Then paused. "You're a fine blade. I guess?"
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri stands as well, watching this carefully. He seems to be a bit surprised, in fact. "Your hands have the right grip, the right amount of pressure, balanced between both hands. And you lead and follow through well," he notes. "You definitely have talent." He smiles as he accepts his sword-body back. The compliment gets a proud, happy smile. "Thank you. You're a pretty good swordsman, too."
Sokka Sokka blinked and then blushed, scratching his chin. "Heh heh. Yeah, I'm still just a rookie, though. Now, my the one who taught? He's amazing. Even blinded he can kick my butt and that's even with him being old as dirt. I should try to visit him again sometime soon, jsut see what he's up."
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri nods. "If you want some incentive to keep training, you may have the potential to be just as good," he remarks. "There are lots of different sword styles, but a good bit of them share basics. As long as you have room for improvement -- which is always -- you can branch into many different styles."
Sokka Sokka nods. "Yeah, I try to keep learning. Honestly, sometimes I wonder if he was just trying to get rid of me, heh. He only trained me a few days before he said he couldn't teach me any more. Then proceeded to thrash my butt." He smiled none the less, the memories still fond ones.
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri tilts his head. "I don't know. He may have released you because he knew your destiny was elsewhere. Insight tends to be something you can't have taught to you, but rather have to discover for yourself. Maybe that's it."
Sokka Sokka chuckled and gave a nod. "Yeah, he was a pretty great teacher. I still can't imagine why he was willing to even help train me. But I'm really thankful he did. I learned a lot from him." He got up and stretched. "So, you're a different style, right? Wanna try? Just training, of course. Who knows? I bet I can learn a lot from an actual sword."
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri seems surprised at the question. Though he nods. "Sure!" He seems pleasantly surprised, too! "And I'm not going to say that I know everything. I could probably learn from you too. Particularly if you use a different style."
Sokka Sokka walked out to a bit of a clearing. "Well, life would be pretty boring if you knew everything, right?" he asked with a big grin. He then drew his sword, going into his stand. Sword held in right hand, left hand near the grip, pulled back, tip low. He had good footing too.

Actually, his stance wasn't as precise as one might expect from someone training. The way he moved was more from experience than training, as if he'd been in plenty of fights and learned that way.
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri smiles broadly. "Having nothing to learn would be pretty boring, yeah," he agrees. As Sokka moves to draw his sword, the man with the eyepatch does as well, though he steps back to keep a bit of distance. His stance is a middle one, the sword held in both hands as well, in a stance one might expect of a katana-wielding warrior. His stance comes from years of being wielded; he remembers his former masters' grip, how he was held in their hands, and duplicates that. His is the stance of one of the youngest warlords of Japan.
Sokka Sokka smled at him, eying him up and down. Already he was calculating, thinking about this opponent. He holds his sword in both hands, that means a solid grip, powerful strikes. But it also meant he could only attack from certain angles and reduced his range. Sokka's one handed grip allowed him more reach and allowed him to come from all kinds of angles, while keeping the majority of his body out of reach.

On top of that, Sokka's sword was double edged, while the other only seemed to have one edge. A curved blade, as well. He wasn't that used to them, but that did make some things easier, others harder. He charged straight at the guy, though he didn't go full force. Instead he tested the defenses, using his one handed grip to keep out of reach and more poke at the guy for now, seeing how he reacted.
Shokudaikiri     Sokka may be surprised at how Shokudaikiri chooses to 'defend'. The sword made human chooses to defend... with an attack! It's a very aggressive style; as Sokka nears, rather than back up and parry, Shokudaikiri seeks to advance, to approach from the side that Sokka's not holding his sword upon, to try to get inside the other's guard. The fact that the sword only has one edge is probably a good thing here. Mind you, Shokudaikiri isn't going for a strike. He's going for a tap on Sokka's side with the flat of the blade.
Sokka Sokka went into his own defense. The fact he led with this sword allowed him an extra foot or so to get into a defensive stance, time he used well. The other person had to travel up the entire length of Sokka's sword, sword arm, then to his body just to get to that side, so Sokka was already moving away by the time the strike came.

His own sword came down to parry the blow. Rather than clashing sword to sword, he used the flat of his blade to push it aside, using his left hand to push against the flat as well and give it more force.

He then stepped in, keeping his blade in between the other sword and himself, though slowly shifting the angle to try and slam the pommel into the other guy's chest and knock him back. "My teacher taught me that one! Hurt when he used it on me.
Shokudaikiri     The expected impact comes... but it's a loud CRACK! Not on his chest, mind. As it so happens, as Sokka pushes the flat of Shokudaikiri's blade away, he turns the sword-spirit towards the side his pauldron is on. It's only a small motion to put that pauldron, and the panels underneath it, in the way of that strike. Mind, it still seems to hurt, and the sword-spirit does wince and stagger back.

But Shokudaikiri chuckles nonetheless. There is a happy smile on his face. "Oh, that's a good one," he compliments. "Most samurai'd be armored. So a blunt strike would probably do more damage. Careful using your hands to push an opponent's blade, though. A particularly alert opponent could turn his blade ''just so'', and then you'd lose your fingers. Particularly Tonbokiri. If your fingers ''touch'' his blade, you'd lose them. He's so sharp he split a dragonfly in half when it landed on his blade."
Sokka Sokka nods, pulling back and leveling his jian on the guy again. "I see, that's good to know. I'll admit, I haven't actually fought too many other swordsmen. I've mostly fought fire benders. Is that a facet of that curved blade?"

He'd made sure to put his hand on his own blade, but it did leave him open. He then moved in once again, taking a few quick thrusts, trying to deflect and parry for now, looking for an opening. His double bladed straight blade did allow plenty of different angles to attack from, and the fact he used one hand did give him nice reach.

But none of the strikes were that powerful. He was mostly just feinting for now, looking for an opening and testing the waters. His footwork was pretty good, though, he never crossed his legs, kept his offense foot forward, defensive back.
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri has to wait on answering that, due to concentrating on the strikes of his opponent. Light and fast strikes. Like a wakizashi or a tantou. A tachi like him was slowerm but tended to be more powerful. A slower sword needed to use the opponent's speed against them. Reflect the speedy strikes back with more powerful parry strikes. Tachi are, after all, known for their high impact.

So that's what he does. He feigns an opening -- and it's on his right side, where he's missing the eye, so it HAS to be a real one, right? Who'd intentionally leave their blind spot unguarded? But should Sokka move to take advantage of it? The sword spirit will instantly correct, and slam the flat of his blade against Sokka's. And Sokka's likely to feel the impact if he does, since Shokudaikiri's a pretty powerful sword.

Hit or miss, Shokidaikiri moves back, on the defensive again. THEN he answers the question. "No, that's his personal legend. Tonbokiri was the spear of Lord Tadakatsu Honda, one of the Four Heavenly Kings. We all have a legend. Tonbokiri can cut anything he can touch. I can destroy bronze."
Sokka Sokka went in for the opening. He didn't lose his sword, but oh it sent pain through his hand. He stood there for a few moments, a grin on his face.

Then swapped the sword to his off hand. "Ow ow ow ow ow ow owwwww!" He shook the hand, cringing. "Y-yeah, that's a pretty powerful sword you've got there." He blew on the hand before gripping his sword in his main hand again, albeit a bit looser. "Wait, really? Kinda got the short end of the stick there, didn't you? All you can cut is bronze, but he can cut anything?" He moved forward, striking quickly, a few feints, then he shot in close, gripped his sword in both hands and slashed at the torso. He slashed from the right side, trying to step into the man's guard and make sure his sword was between him and the other guy's at all times.
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri smirks a bit at the mention of his strength. "We Tachi are powerful swords. Only Ootachi and Yari hit harder. Besides that, the faster an opponent is, the more their own strikes can hurt when reflected back."

Sokka's strike draws the sword-spirit to turn to his right, putting Sokka more completely in his field of vision. As Sokka slashes at his torso, Shokudaikiri turns and steps forward, facing the front of his body at the blade coming at him from the right. However, his turn attempts to bind the blade. And as it clashes against the sword-spirit's blade, Shokudaikiri tries to use the momentum of the turn and forward step to slam his shoulder into Sokka's chest in return.

He's also not stupid enough to stay in immediate range. The blade's been stopped, and Shokudaikiri uses that to move out of immediate range. Then he answers, "It's his legend. Mine was made when Lord Masamune killed an insolent retainer. He struck with me, and struck so fiercely that the candlestick holder far to the side of the retainer was also destroyed. That's also how I got my name -- Shokudaikiri means 'Candlestick Cutter'. Tonbokiri means 'Dragonfly Cutter'."

But... he does seem to deflate a bit. "...Though I gotta admit, I wish it'd have been made out of something more durable..."
Sokka Sokka was sent stumbling back with a grunt, the sword locked and then he was sent toppling back. He hit the ground, butt first, and skidded a few feet. He cringed, before getting up. "Really? Is that supposed to be... impressive? Was bronze seen as tough back then? Because, honestly, my sword has cut through stuff a lot tougher than bronze at this point." Then paused. "And actually kept a really fine edge, now that I think about it."

He chuckled and rubbed where his shoulder hit him. "Maybe it's magical too, never know." He went in for more strikes, going for pokes in the upper area. But his movements were getting stronger. His right hand occasionally twitched and there was a heavy throbbing where the shoulder hit him. He tried to move around on the guy's sword side, mtrying to take him by surprise, then pushing in and-- sucker punching?!
Shokudaikiri     "With a blade? Nah, not at all," Shokudaikiri replies. Hence his lamenting that he wished the candleholder had been made of something more durable. "I can crush bronze with my hands. It feels like paper." He's not bragging, he's just stating a fact.

The sword-spirit seems to deal with the pokes at his upper body pretty well. But he clearly isn't expecting the sucker punch! He looks at the fist coming at him, as if he's not quite sure what it is, or maybe that he's misinterpreting it. Unfortunately the second's hesitation is just a second too long, and then suddenly... bam! Down he goes, and he doesn't immediately get up.

Mind, he's not knocked out. He's flat on his back, looking up at Sokka with his remaining golden eye wide, as if shocked. He had no idea what hit him. None at all.
Sokka Sokka leveled his sword, expecting an attack. Then he blinked a few times and withdrew the blade, sliding it behind his back and staring down at the guy. "Are you okay? I didn't hit you that hard, did I?" He sounded a little worried. It was supposed to be a dirty hit, but not really hurt the guy.

He was just thankful he didn't use his boomerang, that mgiht have been a bit too much. He kneeled by the guy, looking concerned.
Shokudaikiri     Shokudaikiri blinks. He pauses, and then sits up. But he doesn't immediately get to his feet. "Nah, you didn't hit me that hard. It hurt, but I'm not injured," he assures Sokka. "Just surprised me, is all. Didn't expect a sudden punch out of nowhere." He laughs, though, and gets to his feet. "Still old-fashioned, I guess. I forget that time has advanced. A samurai wouldn't likely have thought of doing that. He'd have thought it was dishonorable." Mind you, the sword-spirit doesn't show any disdain for what Sokka did. In fact? "Good job! You definitely caught me off-guard."

He pauses then, to sheathe his sword. And he bows. "Thanks," he says whole-heartedly. "I found many places for improvement. But I do need to see how Lady Iroha is doing. I wouldn't want her to be too lost. Also I need to fix my hair now."

    ...What?
Sokka Sokka chuckled and rubbed the back of his head. "Errr, thanks, heh heh." He sheathed the blade. "It was good fighting you. And well... my teacher pretty much taught me, always be inventive and quick thinking. There were a few other things I could have done, but I didn't want to really fight dirty." Well, a sucker punch.... WASN'T that dirty?

"You're a much better sword fighter than I am, though. And it was great fighting you. Thanks for the match." He put his hands together and bowed politely, not an ounce of disrespect in his movement.
Shokudaikiri     There were indeed a few other things Sokka could have done there. Including possibly breaking The Bro Code! But would that even have worked? Who knows?

In any case, Shokudaikiri nods. "You definitely have that mastered, being innovative and quickness," he remarks, with a smile. "Improve your swordmanship and you'll be able to beat anybody who challenges you. Just remember that any fight you can walk away from -- even if you have to crawl -- is a win. So don't feel too bad if you do lose. As long as you live, you can always try again. Never feel like a single defeat is the ultimate loss, no matter what caused it."
Sokka Sokka nods, chuckling. "Oh yeah. I've lost more times than I can count. And..." Then blinked. "Not... so worried about me walking away from it." He glanced to the sky and sighed. "I should probably head back, help Toph with her students and all that. I'll see you around, okay?" He gave a wave before turning.
