Dukemon X The hustle and bustle of this place never seems to stop. Entertainment at every corner, music, and the neon lights. It is clean though, clean and pristine. A jewel in the night sky, twinkling like a star. It is these busy streets that a seven foot-two knight walks along the avenue.

His armor almost reflecting the lights, with the blue gem stones glowing, just like the lights of neon streets. His clawed hands remaining at his side as he walks and observes the people. Looking at there different sizes, heights, and creed. The Multiverse never ceases to disappoint and in many ways his missed this place. It was his new home.

As a young girl of some unknown species runs up to him and offers him some cookies for sale, he kneels down to see what she has, before giving her some coin, and then taking the box of cookies. As he continues to walk, he looks it over, "Alexis might enjoy these... or maybe Golden... or the children."

What makes these children so important...
Can you hear their screams today? Calling out?

The knight Digimon suddenly winces, his hand reaching to the side of his head before he gives his head a hard shake. His eyes almost losing focus for a moment and almost stepping out in front of passing card before quickly stepping back. "... damn'it..." He says softly to himself as he goes to walk over to a building and leans up against it for a moment while he closes his eyes.
Gaonoir "Note for later blog -- The 'cheese rolling' in Urbania's tourist brouchure? No joke. It's seriously a sport from somewhere." No surprise that Erika is talking into her phone with her own notes than really watching where she's going despite the busy crowds mingling about the sidewalks. "Waste of perfectly good cheese if you ask me. I bet its some conspiracy to use up the cheese that they can't sell."

There's no sign of a certain dark colored canid with her. But if anyone can find a way to hide in the vage shadows that exist between all the bright lights, it would be him... and possibly she doesn't even realize he's slunk off into them.
Dukemon X The knightly Digimon continues to lean there, before he hears a familiar voice. Those teal, glowing eyes peer over toward Erika, before he pushes off the wall. Casually he walks over to her, before handing out the box of cookies to her. "Would you like these? For-- what you did a few months back."

Erika may recall him. He was the one that caused her scanner to go on the frits because of his X-Antibody, or whatever it was all confused by. Duke wouldn't be surprised if it was Yggdrasil having a good laugh at the humans' attempts to understand Digimon really.
Gaonoir "Hnn?" The confused sound comes from the girl as Erika stops just a step from walking into the armored form and looks up at him. "Hey, you're that other digimon..." And the box. ".. Cookies. Did you get an advertising mascot job or something?" .. Actually... Erika murmurs into her phone, "Investigate possibility of ad mascots being digimon in disguise. Some of them are certainly weird enough."

If Gaonoir is around in the shadows, he's probably facepawing at her going off on a conspiracy tangent again. If he's not busy glaring at Dukemon.
Dukemon X Dukemon X chuckles softly and shakes his head. "No, no. Nothing like that." He scratches the side of his armored helm with his black claw index finger, "Though I did once act as a mascot when I was a Guilmon X for this fair out in some small town... But that was awhile back."

He shakes the box gently at her, "But please, take these. I can always go buy another and... I don't think I ever caught your name." He places his hand to his chest armor. "I'm Dukemon X, though many just call me Duke. A-- mmm... A former Royal Knight before... events conspired."
Gaonoir Erika takes the offered box of cookies, tucking it away in her bag. "Thanks. My name is Erika. But things didn't really allow time for introductions last time, so don't feel bad about..."

There's a pause at the mention of Royal Knights. Clearly she reconizes the term, but that shouldn't be a surprise considering who her partner is, right? Though all she does is tilt her head a little to the side. "Wait, is that why..." She turns around as if to say something to someone else, only to find no one there. Which results in a soft hmph as she lets her hand return to herself. "Oh now where did he slink off to..."
Dukemon X Dukemon X glances to one side and to the other.; Silently thankful that he doesn't have his cape activated and slightly side steps to make his shadow extremely narrow under the streetlight. "Probably lurking in the shadows. That is what he does." And Duke has many memories of those antics ending badly for him.

Even if he is now a very different Digimon, far stronger, but the scars-- They tend to stick. Much like haunted memories of old friendships long gone. "If I could ask though," He motions his claw hand to her, "Why has he sided with a human such as yourself?"
Gaonoir "I know he said he was bored, but.... well hopefully he didn't go off to pick a fight because of it." Erika shrugs a little before turning back to the digimon that was actually here. The slight shift closer to the light to make less of a shadow doesn't escape her notice. But there's nothing leaping out of it to try and maul him. Yet. Maybe Gao realizes as strong as he is he'd still have to evolve a few stages and that'd give himself away. Who knows.

"It was... kind of an accident. Whatever is in him got into my phone and turned it into this 'digivice' as Alden called it." Erika pauses for a moment to flick off whatever recording app she was using, the thing still functioned like a smartphone apparently. "After we beat that giant demonic bunny thing he's sort of warmed up to it. Not like he had much where else to go."
Dukemon X Duke tilts his head a little. The passing cars causing the 'ponytail' of long, blond hair coming out from his helm to gently move in the wind. There was a hint of confusion in his voice, which matched the look in his eyes, "What do you mean? He-- well-- Last we faced off, he was a Knight under Yggdrasil's command."

...kill...

Duke took a step forward a bit, "Is he no longer under his service? Did that-- device," The knightly digimon points to it, "Somehow unlink him? How?" It was all speculation but maybe... Just maybe... Confusion turned into curiosity, maybe even a bit of hope springing eternal, but it was that same hope a very faint whisper was trying to latch onto-- Perhaps in anticipation for what could follow. Ever clawing, or trying to claw control.
Gaonoir Erika ahehes softly, rubbing the side of her head with one hand. "We.. don't really know -how-. Just that somehow he's linked to this instead now. He's not exactly the most talkative sort, y'know." Though it's almost as odd that he hasn't at least popped up to say something sarcastic. "Though even before he got paired with me he was working on and off with those shipgirls. Maybe that's why he's less... sour about working with people."
Dukemon X Duke narrows his eyes faintly, before his hand tightens a little, "You have no answer? Truly?" He tsks faintly and looks off to the side. "I see..." He shakes his head and turns away from her. "Then further questions are useless and pointless. They will not go anywhere."
Gaonoir Well that was a sudden shift in tone. All this time around Digimon and Erika still didn't understand how some of them could be so... moody. Her own partner included. "Just because there isn't an easy answer is no reason to not ask questions." Erika glanced down at the device in her hands for a moment. "... And sometimes you don't have to understand something to believe in it." Which is probably the sort of thing you would expect to hear from a part-time conspiracy fanatic.

Though when she looks up he's started to walk away. And true but probably foolishly to form, she starts to walk after him. "But just turning away from the matter isn't going to get you any answers either!"
Dukemon X Erika follows the knight Digimon foolishly and Dukemon X quickly spins around, his hand inches from her, as he points his index finger in her direction. "YOU do not know the dangers you walk into and this is a subject best dropped. I, Dukemon X, do not want any /harm/ to come to anyone and there are /things/ I can not always control."

He forces his hand to lower down, as he takes a step back. "And do not speak to me about turning away, when you know nothing about me. Now please, do not follow me further, Erika." He turns away once more and continues on his way, making his way for the slums.
Gaonoir The girl stops, and still has to lean back a little to keep from getting more finger in her face than just pointing, a stifled little sound escaping her. Though with how quickly she reacts, one has to wonder just what sort of 'dangers' she's use to getting into by this point. "Uh..." But she doesn't manage to get anything else said before Duke turns away again, and fades into the crowd. "Well." Rubs the back of her head with a hand. "That was... something that just happened..."

"Pff. Don't know the dangers you walk into. If only he knew what sort of human he was talking to."

Despite the length of time together Erika still lets out a small yelp of surprise when Gaonoir shadow steps right up next to her. "Gah! Stop doing that!... And why do you show up -now-?"

"I have -some- restraint," Gaonoir retorts back sharply even as he walks past her. "Go home. Or back to Hikari. Whichever. Just, for once, listen to me and don't follow."

"But if I don't go with you won't be able to go full evolution."

Gaonoir pauses for a moment and looks back. "And if he hurts you, we're both screwed. The old version, I wouldn't worry about it." He turned back to the direction Dukemon left, eyes narrowing a bit. His tracking senses could still pick up on his vector. "This one... look, I know you can see what I can see through that thing, so stay out of harm's way." And with that he took off, slipping back into the shadows. Both because he can travel faster that way, and it makes it a little harder for Erika to follow. Even with the digivice tracking him she'd have to take a long route. But hopefully she'll for once listen.
Golden     Along Erika's way, the digivice beeps, indicating a digimon nearby.
Coincidentally there's an all you can eat barbecue buffet nearby. And an angry owner arguing loudly with a small golden ball with arms and legs.
"Whaddya mean I can't eat all I can? It says right there on the sign! I paid for it!" shouts the digimon.
"Your kind can eat so much! I'll go broke!"
Gaonoir Erika just lets out an exasperated sigh, and looks back down at the digivice. She was never quite sure if Gaonoir was actually concerned, or just concerned that he can't reach his full power without her and the gadget in her hands. Yet, either way, if he's actually worried about it...

Of its own accord the Digivice switchs to scanner mode and beeps at her. There's a moment of hope... that quickly falls flat again when she realizes it's another signal and not Gaonoir coming back for her. Oh well.

At least it turns out to be a familiar face rather than some rampaging digital monster. "Oh, hello there Golden." Despite the weird turn of events a few moments ago she does her best to put on a smile as she wanders over.
Golden     With the interruption of Erika, the owner storms back inside, warning Golden to never darken his doorstep again.
Golden blinks a few times, turning slowly towards Erika. "Hey Erika. How are things going for you and Gaonoir?" He seems like he went from angry to calm pretty quick. Maybe he wasn't actually all that worried about being kicked out of the buffet.
Gaonoir Gaonoir shrugs a little. "He still keeps trying to act like a tough guy. Some things don't change." And some things do. But she feels like pointing out he just ran off after that strange knight-dragon for some ominous reason isn't a good thing to mention right at the moment. "And you? Any luck figuring out what's... y'know." She doesn't want to just say 'wrong with you'.
Golden     Golden shrugs. "I've been broken for a really long time, kid. Losing my crest didn't help the situation either... "
He mutters "Though I guess it was my fault..."
He ahems. "Fact of the matter is, most of us who remember the Great Demon War got scars one way or another. Just happens that I'm one of the ones who has physical scars."
"Say... how'd you know I was here anyway?"
Gaonoir "Oh, the digivice told me." Erika holds the smartphone-like device up and points at the screen. "It has a scanner that detects when digimon are nearby." She glances at it for a moment, then sticks it back in her pocket. She'll figure out what the heck is up between Gaonoir and Dukemon later. "That's how we use it to track down when other digimon pop up. Fortunately there haven't been any violent intrusions lately."
Golden     The MetalMamemon narrows his eyes thoughtfully. "Can it detect other things from the Digital World?"
Gaonoir Erika cants her head to the side as she has a habit of doing when someone pips her curiousity, hair swaying a bit with the motion. "... We've not really had a reason to try..." She doesn't take it back out but she does put a hand back on the pocket she'd put it in. ".... Do you think it'd find your missing Crest thingy?" Smart girl doesn't take too long to catch onto the train of thought at least.
Golden     Golden ohs and tries to look innocent. "Do you think it could? I lost it in a place with things called Grimms. Big ugly monster things. I think the one I saw there was a giant bird thing."
Gaonoir "Well it can detect you, and technically the Crest is a part of you... Wouldn't know until we try right? Would probably have to be closer to where you lost it." And somehow convince Gaonoir to go look, which might be harder than the actual search. At least until Golden mentions where he lost it. "Oh! Those... Gaonoir's faught those before." A pause, and then she giggles. "The bear ones kinda look like his Adult stage."
Golden     Golden nods and looks a bit ashamed. "I uh, didn't spend too long there before a crazy lady drowned me in something that looks like the stuff your partner's got inside him. The crest didn't react well to that."
"But hey, if Gaonoir and you are willing to help, I'd be grateful for it!" He says, cheering up. The truth is, he's not sure the crest will accept him back.
Gaonoir Erika wrinkles her knows a little at the comparison. "Inky and black seems to be a common appearance for... darker things." Yeah not even she can exactly call her partner 'good'. Though he's hardly 'evil' any more, either. There's that weird grey area between that he's in now.
Dukemon X         --- IN THE SLUMS.... ---

The mist rises from the sewers with very few people out and moving around at this hour. Duke remembered this place being a location of many fights and including many forgotten Digimon... But so much has changed. After forcing Omegamon to stay in the Digital World and never hunt down another forgotten soul... It is as if peace was found, but none would never know the unsung hero. None would know it was a fight so far out that was changing the tide.

However, enemies were still around. There were those that took things personally, that wanted the former Royal Knight's head on the principle of what happened so long ago, much like that crazy female Digimon that wrecked so much havoc...

As the mist floats around the knightly Digimon, he walks, almost with a staggered step. A side he doesn't let anyone see, a side he has been fighting since after his face off with Omegamon. The whispers, the calling, he can hear him-- He can hear Yggdrasil and he can't make it stop. No matter how faint, he can't make it go away.

Duke ended up resting a hand against the wall in the dark ally, while slowly looking down at his other. "Get control..." He says softly to himself. "Control your emotions... it is how he will get to you... Just... Control. Find the balance... balance..." Duke chuckles a little before his hand turns into a fist and then with his inner anger slams it against the brick. The stone crumbling under his fist as he growls out. "I don't even have that anymore! I don't even know what I am!!"
Gaonoir "Yeah, that part kinda sucks, doesn't it?" remarks a familiar voice as he steps out of the shadows again. Unlike that bright and glaring entertainment sector this place had more than enough dark spaces for him to utilize, making it easier for Gaonoir to catch up. "The not knowing. The lack of certainy, or of purpose. The regret and remorse."

Though Gaonoir at least doesn't walk too close as he hasn't actually evolved yet. He's not that reckless. Or at least not any more. "It can eat a guy up on the inside... and those are holes HE likes to dig his nonexistant fingers into." No farther clarification on who he means is really necessary, is it?

The shadowy canid stops, a waif of steam from the sewers flicking the tails of his headband in it's damp puffs. "Honestly I'm not sure if I should laugh at the irony of reverse, or pity it."
Dukemon X The voice causes Duke to stop and the more that voice talks the more the Knight Digimon stands up straighter. Those glowing eyes narrow sharply as he turns himself around, looking for the source of the voice, until his eyes land at last on glimpse of Gaonoir.

There was a long silence from Dukemon X, just his eyes staring in the direction of the smaller Digimon, but slowly he looks away from Gaonoir. "Why are you here, pup?" His looks back toward the direction of the other Digimon, his eyes dim now in color, along with the glowing stones on his body. "You should go back to her and forget me."

Gaonoir was right on so many levels. Yggdrasil was using those holes to take hold, perhaps the only reason he hasn't been completely devoured is because of the X-Antibody, but why? Why after he obtained this form did it all fall apart? Was it because he lost Gaonoir...

Slowly Duke's eyes narrow, before he peers back to Gaonoir, "Unless you come here to gloat?" His hand starts to tighten, "Gloat of your freedom and that you cursed /me/. That is what you always wanted, wasn't it?"

What few lights were in the air flickered a little, as his hands continued to tighten, but then he steps back and looks away. His head lowering as he tries to force his hands to relax. "You should just go. This is not getting any better... Just leave me in peace."
Gaonoir Gaonoir snorts softly. "To be fair, I mostly just wanted to put a fist in your face." But after a moment he unclenches the gloved paw and lowers them back to his sides. Though never quite completely at rest. He knows better than that.

Considering he's -been- on the other side of this scenerio....

"You think you could ask those sort of questions about her little gadget and I wouldn't come investigate for myself?" He still doesn't dare to get closer, so instead just goes to cross his arms. But the obvious tension is still there, despite the peculiar calmness he's ready to move at a moment's notice. "Heh... Maybe I'd thought about doing that... but it would be kinda hollow at this point..."

Gaonoir turns his head back in the general direction they'd come from. "Besides... is it really freedom? I'm still reliant on her, after all..." Ears flip-flop as he shakes his head a bit before looking back to Duke. "Eh, I'm still not very good at leaving well enough alone. And you're not going to have much peace either way, really.."
Dukemon X "I asked because..." Duke doesn't finish that sentence, he shakes his head, a huff of air escapes past the armored plate that is over his lower face. It was obvious he was debating on what to say or if he even should say anything at all. As Gaonoir knew him, he was taking far longer than normal to debate over a fact; Much like Omegamon really.

In the end Duke makes up his mind and turns to fully face Gaonoir once more. "Yggdrasil isn't my own problem. Something... Happened to me." He places his hands against his armor chest. "After I defeated Omegamon something... Happened. This form... Being like this... It is cursed. I can''t degenerate, I can't think straight-- and not including... /him/... In this picture."

Duke shakes his head gently. "I was hoping that perhaps, somehow, I could find a means to reattach myself to another server, at least, maybe... the shift of data... something... would restructure my DigiCore, force it to... reboot-- maybe." His arms lower by his side. "But I realize that is a foolish endeavor and I am facing a losing war."
Gaonoir Gaonoir shifts back in his stance a bit as Duke turns around, it's subtle, but the movement is there as he's tensed up. He's expecting a possible lashing out at any moment. Yet stays in his arguably weakest form. He only needs Erika and her digivice for his final evolution, so why not change to one of the others? Then again, if doing so could be mistaken and aggressive, especially considering some of his forms slip more into the feral side...

"Well yeah, losing if you just give up with that attitude." Okay so the snark isn't entirely gone, it's ingrained too deeply into his code to entirely disappear. With a huff he puts his paws back at his sides again. "We don't know how this happened. Or that it was even possible... But you know what, that's kind of the point. If something like this that HE never expected could happen, who's to say there's not something else..."

A pause. Then a short barking laugh. "Okay yeah, now this is getting kinda weird and awkward feeling. For as much as I let myself be convinced that deleting 'improper' digimon was what I was made to be, and here I am, just running my muzzle off instead." Sighs a little as he puts one paw over his face in mock exasperation. "She is rubbing off on me after all I guess."
Dukemon X Duke rolls his eyes and goes to turn away. "This is a pointless discussion. I shouldn't have even bothered. Just go back to your human, back to protecting her, and forget it." The Knightly Digimon starts to walk away once more, but the laughing-- the laughing is what stops him. He cants his head to one side a little bit, before he shakes his head.

"I... Just need some time to sort this out. The Royal Knights will not interfere in the affairs of the Multiverse. Omegamon knows what I will do if he breaks his word to me... Again." Duke looks over his shoulder to Gaonoir. "This... Was a close call tonight and if we had fought like we once did... I am unsure if I could have kept it in check."

The former Royal Knight looks away once more. "Thank you for not escalating this where people could have gotten hurt... Hopefully it will remain that way." Then he starts to walk off once more.
Gaonoir Gaonoir shifts his gaze off for a moment again. "If anything don't thank me. I had other people finally beat a few things through my thick digital skull. The reason I had just accepted what I was told was no outside perspective to compare to. Multiverse changed that." But we won't go into details, because frankly, some of those things even make him twitch a little still.

"Besides, I don't have a reason to beat the bytes out of you anymore. Null it all, I don't even have a reason to... well, no, I still want to punch Beelzebumon's teeth out but that's just because he's a smug bastard. But that's personal taste. Not letting my anger be roped along and misdirected."

"Come to think of it." Gaonoir puts a paw to his chin thoughtfully. "That was when things started to change for the relative better, after stomping on that demonic bunny. Maybe the closier had something to do with i--"

There's a pause, and then the paw moves to cover his face. "And I'm probably talking to open air at this point. Really, for how often I do that to her you would think I'd know better."
