Sokka Sokka was sitting by the entrance of the beach, wearing... actually he was wearing fire tribe garments. Hot area, hot-area clothing, it made sense. He had his bathing suit under it, of course. Since, you know, he was showing a person around the beaches. Well, the ones he knew.

He'd given her directions from the portal on how to get to him and was now just waiting. He was wearing the wrist computer as usual and tapping away on it, going through some of the brochures and things that Jarvus had gotten him. Some of it was just... confusing. But the schools looked nice. And he was always interested in learning.

He'd brought space sword and boomerang, of course. And a small duffel bag. After all, he was showing another union member(he thought) around, he had to make sure she had a good time! He'd also sent Toph a message to let her know where he'd be. So she didn't worry.
Jinx     Well if you were looking for Jinx, she's... incredibly easy to spot heading up to the public entrance to the beaches. A pale girl in a garishly neon one-piece suit and a equally garish towel around her waist approaches, and starts waving cheerily at the fellow on his computerthingy. "Hi! Are you Sokka?"
The girl's eyes are shaded by sunglasses as she gives her winningest smile. She's got a soft plastic cooler of STUFF and the promise of food and beverages.
Sokka Sokka blinked, then grinned. He reached out and took her hand, gently pulling it in to place a gentle kiss on it. "As a matter of fact, I am. And you must be the beautiful Jinx I've heard so much about. Funny, I don't feel like my luck is getting wo--" And it was then that a seagull dive bombed his head, going for the bagel someone had left on the fence a few feet away. "GAHHH! GET OFF I WILL GRILL YOU WITH A SIDE OF PORK CHOPS!" he yelled, flapping his hans as the bird flew off. He then turned to Jinx and blushed.

"Err... so... ummm... shall I... show you to the beach? Eh... heh...?"
Jinx     Oh my! A gentleman! Well, at least he's not already making Jinx want to punch him in the face like Ezreal does. Jinx lets out a little eeeee at the kiss, before smiling. "Well! I am totally a whole lot of good luck always and forever a-"

And then a bird swoops down to attack Sokka, and Jinx makes a rather cross face. There's a flash of light from her heavy bangle, and she lifts her hand, holding a steampunk-y coil gun of some sort. She pulls the trigger, and a bolt of electrical energy swats the bird out of the sky. The passers-by might... have some reaction if Iron Man didn't live down the beach and weird shit didn't happen around here on the often. "THERE! Got him, that bird won't be bothering you any more! Come on, handsome, show me some water!"
The gun vanishes back into the hextech spacefold it came from, and Jinx holds out a tattooed arm for Sokka.
Sokka Sokka blinked a few times. He stared. Oh, that wasn't good. She just... There was only one way to react to something like that.

"That. Was. AWESOME! How did you do that? It's one of those gun things, right?" He takes her hand, gently guiding her towards the beach. "Does it use magic stuff, or is it more tech based? I know most guns use metal slugs, though I'm still trying to get the hang of how they work. Although that blast did look kind of magical so I'm going some kind of magic? Or maybe an energy blast of shorts? I guess I should have expected something that awesome from one of Toph's friends."

Oh gosh he was positively gushing and had NO idea. He set out two towels to sit on. And brought sandwiches. "Are you joining the paladins, too?"
Jinx     Jinx smiles sweetly at Sokka, and the pistol reappears for a moment so she can twirl it a bit. "Well, it's hextech! Like the rest of my gear. And it's not quite magic, not on this version! I do guns. LOTS OF GUNS." A happy grin from the Cannon, though maybe something more. She really likes guns, it would seem.
There's also a bit of strength to her, despite her skinny frame. She happily hugs at Sokka's arm, and is lead towards the likely spots. There's plenty of people out today at least, and it's a nice day out. Lots of vacationers!

Jinx's brow furronw though at the question. "Paladins? What's that? Is that some sorta club or something? I'm with the League! I thought you saw that the other day?" She plops her cooler down, and then waits for beach blankets to be placed.
Sokka Sokka nodded, setting up the relaxation spot as best he can, before shaking his head. "No, the paladins are the police force for the multiverse. Or, well, they want to be. Toph and I joined the other day. Sorta. Think we're still kind of... like... in the midst of doing all the stuff we'll need to do. But the idea is the same." He waved his hand.

He then took off his shirt and pants, revealing... He was wearing a decent bathing suit underneath! At least more than the old loin cloth. He jammed his sword and boomerang into the sand.

"Yeah, saw a bit. Not really aware of who the league are, though. Kind of new to the whole... multiverse thing, still. Not sure who all is who. And now it just got all switched around due to the union and federation collapsing and... well, frankly, I'm so many leagues behind right now it's not even funny. It--" He ducked down, narrowly avoiding a beach ball. "HA! Take that univer--" A frisbee hit him in the head and he went down. He tossed them back to the apologetic game players. "Razzle... frazzle... So, what's the league? Another group forming up?" He rubbed the bump on his head. "And I'd love to hear more about your gun! I've never seen one like it. It looks soooo awesome."
Jinx     Jinx is already starting to get a bit relaxed at the moment, as she slips down to lay out on the beach blanket.

And then Sokka says the C-Word, and the girl's teeth grind a bit. Oh dear. A little bit of a squeaky-mad grumble escapes her nose for all of a moment, a vague thought or plan or something in her head smashed away by a simple sentence. "C-Cops, r-right, well. That's... goooood for you?????" She's trying to maintain her composure, but it's a little rough in the face of her MOST HATED ARCHETYPE EVER.

A long, slow, steadying breath. She was here to have a good time and hit on Toph's boyfriend, right? Right. Not shoot everyone forever. Not the time or place for it. Hoooo hnnnnn hooooo calm down. "Ah th-the League is like, there's two things that are the League. The League back HOME is a bunch of old fart wizards using people to fight proxy battles instead of like, two whole countries or city states goin' to war and wrecking the place."
Sokka Sokka nodded, chuckling. "I know, right? I mean, who'd have though Toph and I would ever be maintaining the laws? I mean, after all the scams, pranks, cheats and..." He paused. "Well, I don't think there was a single country we went through that we didn't do something that amounted to treason. Oh, I don't know if Toph ever told you about her life as the 'Runaway', it's hilarious. We scammed sooooo many people."

He relaxed on the towel, glancing over. "Really? Thats an interesting way of doing it. Seems like a good way to avoid blood shed. But what happens if like... a country that's too weak starts winning all the time in the league? Wouldn't one of the bigger countries start going 'Hey, let's just wipe this country out' kind of thing? Though, I guess if they're all united in this..." He then blinked. "So, does that make you kind of like a mercenary?"
Jinx     Jinx's eyebrows raise as she hears... that part about Toph. Cheats? Scams? Pranks? Treason????? Oh man she's going to have to ask the dustbutt about that one when she sees Toph next. Though at the comments about the League, she rolls to her side, her lust for murdering cops abated by the storytime.

"...ssssooooort of? I mean, I'm a Champion for them... or I was until this whole mess started. Now we're having trouble raising the Insitute, so who knows what's going to happen. Anyways, yeah, they made a whole... sports thing out of it. People betting on matches, LOTS of people watching the fights, they even had a bunch of bigass arenas for us to fight in. Like entire forests and ruins and a Murderbridge!"

She slides the zipper open on the cooler. Inside are sodas and wine coolers and other lightly malted beverages. All on the sweet end of things.
Sokka Sokka blinked a few times and then stared at her. His eyes were glimmering. "Wait, so you're kind of like... some kind of ARENA champion? That's so COOL! Like the earth rumble tournaments? When all this gets settled you'll HAVE to take me to see one, okay? Hey, maybe I can even compete in one. I know i may not look it, but I'm no slouch in combat, either. Granted, i don't have any fancy guns or anything. Just space sword and boomerang," he said with a big grin.

He'd of course have offered some of the snacks he'd brought. Bit of fruit, sandwiches, basic picnic stuff. Water bottles. Nothing fancy.
Toph Beifong     It's still a bit strange, thinking back on last night. A family dinner interrupted by Official Business (TM) as Stadler and Lloyd had showed up in their finest, and then requested that /she/, Toph Beifong, join them in the newly formed Paladins. Law enforcement. A fine organisation that were there to uphold law and justice, to shield the innocent from whatever harm that crawled around the multiverse! To serve and to protect! To bark out orders! To boss people around!

To beat the asses of dunderheads and get paid for it. Yup.

    She might actually enjoy this.

Most of the day has gone to preparing herself for leaving. Pack lightly, Stadler had told her. But still, it's not like she can leave too much stuff behind when she's going off to train with Sokka. Let's see... she will be needing her reading glove, so that goes in the backpack. A book. Some metal. The necklace from Sokka. Some clean clothes, toiletries, the grass shampoo from Pepper. More metal pieces... and she /will/ need to make something else too...

Once she's done packing however she can't help but note that the house has been a bit quiet... just where /is/ Sokka anyway?

Even as Jinx and Sokka enjoy the weather at the beach, their peace and quiet will be interrupted as a familiar voice calls out, ringing across the beach. "Hey,

Once she's done packing however she can't help but note that the house has been a bit quiet... just where /is/ Sokka anyway?

Even as Jinx and Sokka enjoy the weather at the beach, their peace and quiet will be interrupted as a familiar voice calls out, ringing across the beach. "Hey, meat head!" And behold, there she comes. The teenage terror of Malibu, clad in cargo shorts and with a tank top. All in all she does not look happy, a frown set on her face as she stomps through the sand towards them.
Jinx     Jinx accepts one of those sandwiches. It's a damn sight better than the crap she usually eats at home, but she tends to be a 'freegan' anyways. But beverages are meant to be shared at an occasion like this! "Oh, well, most of my fights are up for review on the Scrynet, so-"

And then there's the voice of Toph, and Jinx sits straight up, a massive grin on her face... and hugs Sokka from behind. "HI TOPH!"
Sokka Sokka blinked a few times, glancing over. "Hey! Peppermint Tophie!" Yes, still doing the candies. He waved a drink at her. "Finished packing?" Of course, his had been fast. "Here, I got another towel in here somewhere... there." Setting it out and patting it. "Come sit down with us. Got some sandwiches, fruit, drinks. Cute girls, too," he motioned to Jinx. "What more could you ask for?"

He was not reading the mood. AT ALL.
Toph Beifong     The blind girl's eyes narrow more, and she stops some feet away from the two, arms crossed over her chest. While she can't glare /at/ Jinx, she can glare in her direction at least.

Her lower lip is sort of drawn up, as if she is pouting a bit. Or maybe she just tasted something really sour on the way over here...?

"I'm done packing," she responds to Sokka, "and so should you be. So what the crud are you doing here? Stadler and Lloyd are waiting for us, and you're here with /her/?" she demands, pointing her index finger straight at Jinx's nose. Oh yes, she's not going to talk to you right now. Not even if she's got her arms all over Sokka.
Jinx     Jinx... shuts up, and grins.

Okay, this day was getting better.
Sokka Sokka blinked, then shrugged. "Well, you seemed pretty busy. Your friend told me she didn't know the beaches here, so I figured I'd show her around a bit. I didn't bring too much and we're not too far from the house, so I could just run back when it's time."

He frowned. "Wait, you weren't waiting for me, were you? Sorry. I thought you'd still be getting ready and I thought you might like a bit of alone time since... well... your parents and all." He was missing all of it.
Toph Beifong     "What makes you think she's my /friend/?" Toph asks in a huff, her hands tightening their grip on her arms where she stands looming above them with her not so impressive height. "She was a FED! And not the type of Fed that I would hang out with! And now she talks on the radio, thinking that she can just show up here?" Well, at least Sokka didn't invite her to the beach right outside the house. Because it wouldn't only be Tony protesting at people coming uninvited on his private property at that point.

"I don't need time alone with dad and mom," she protests, though there /is/ a slightly pained look on her face for just a brief moment. "A-and you heard them yesterday, didn't you?" Pepper had cared for Sokka, Tony had gotten enough food so he could eat too, not just the three of them. Because...

Her expression growns stern again, and she takes a step closer. "Do you think it's okay to just show up here, Miss Trigger Happy? Your reputation isn't exactly stellar."
Jinx     Jinx sucks in a breath, and then... Releases an arm from Sokka to point at Toph. "Yeah, but the war's over-ish, you showed up to MY heists, and you never told me you were a crook! Gosh! What kind of frenemy are you?"

She leans back, ruffling Sokka on the head, and then crosses her arms behind the tanned boy, poking her head out from around his shoulder and neck. "also it's been like a freaking year since I even saw you so I figured you like, we're mad about stuff anymore, you know." Huff puff.
Sokka Sokka blinked a few times. "Well... she was on Starknet. I figured she worked for the union and stuff. Errrr... how... did she get on it, then?" he gave a nervous chuckle. "I mean, she seems pretty cool to me. I mean, it's not like she's azula." He paused. "Wait, is she like azula?"

He blinked a few times and then kind of looked down. "Y-yeah. I heard them. Your... parents are great, Toph. They uhhhh... they really are. I'm really happy for you and... I don't want to get in the way of that. I mean, you've found somewhere that really makes you happy and all so ummmm... i just... don't wanna get in your way. I mean, I already almost got you killed so... I figured... no telling how long training will last, when you'll see them next. So... thought... you'd like a chance to say good bye. Privately. I know how that sappy stuff isn't something you like sharing..."

He hurt her. He could tell. He didn't know why, though. Wasn't this what friends did? He knew if HIS parents were around more he'd probably want to hang out with them a ton more, and show off his friends and-- "Ohhhhhhh. Wait." Did it FINALLY click? "You were... trying to... show off what your life was before joining them, right? I mean, wouldn't it have been better to show off someone cool, like Aang? Or Katara? Kinda went for the bottom of the barrel, didn't you?" Trying to relieve it with a joke. A poor one.
Toph Beifong     When Jinx points back at her, Toph lets out an annoyed huff. "I showed up to your heists because you were /hurting/ people, Blasty! And I'm not a crook nor your frenemy!" So there!

Okay Sokka, this is where you step back from the two teenage girls if you know what's best for you.

"Oh right, I'm supposed to forget that you blew me up? You certainly didn't forget that before between your heists!" The blind earthbender snorts, turning her face slightly away as she rests her hands on her hips. Seriously, Jinx should be happy she didn't bend her away from Sokka the moment she stepped out on the beach!

As for StarkNet, that's easily explained. "Dad made that network so everybody could talk on it, all the networks were messed up. It's not just Union people on it, there's lots of new voices there for me too," she explains to Sokka.

It's not like training will take forever, right? And she /will/ be coming home for Christmas. Even when she was working on her academy she came home several times a week. Besides, there's no way she's going to be absent when Bitchin' Camaro decides to pop out. Surely the Paladins will allow that, right? It's her /family/! "I'm NOT sappy." Really.

It's hard to know just what Sokka is thinking, and Toph raises an eyebrow slightly when he seems to have a small epiphany. Except it's not. "Just get off of your butt and let's head on back so we're ready for when Stadler is leaving," she says instead, turning on her heel.
Jinx     Jinx... takes a breath in, and then lets it out. "Okay."

And just like that, she sits back from Sokka, like a step away, and crosses her legs a bit. "I'm not sure who Azula is, but boy howdy, you don't get to decide who gets to be happy or not. And I'm just sitting on a beach with a person who was nice to me on the radio! It's not like I'm wrecking shit or shooting people or even trying to be rude!" She totally is but you have no evidence, copper.
Sokka Sokka looked between the two of them. Of course, he'd always do the dumbest thing, and so he got up and walked in between the two of them, right up to Toph. Yeah, he was going to end up buried up to his chin. "A-ah. Well, errr, I thought she was a friend. I mean, she seems friendly enough." Then blinked. "Wait... blew you up? Like... on accident or...? Cause Zuko tried to blow us up like, a hundred times and I've had dinner with the guy a few times."

He sighed, shaking his head. "I'd never say you were sappy, Toph." He glanced back to Jinx and gave her a little smile and wave. "See you around, Jinx." He meant to meet with her?! Again? And then... "Toph, do you mind explaining what exactly is going on? I thought she was one of your union buddies. She seems pretty nice to me. She's got the coolest gun, too."
Toph Beifong     As Jinx pulls away from Sokka it appears that Toph looks less tense where she stands. Still, when the champion speaks it appears that Toph develops a twitch near her left eye, and she draws her lower lip up.

No, Toph might not have evidence for Jinx trying to be rude, but she does have the ability to hear lies most of the time. Rather than calling her out on it however, Toph responds to Sokka. "I told you, she wasn't in the Union, she was on the enemy's side. Now I'm supposed to think she's all buddy buddy with me all of a sudden? It's not like she's a teacher we need to master the art of blowing shit up!" She can do that perfectly fine with her earthbending, thank you. But still, she turns her head slightly over her shoulder, her back still turned towards them. "I'm going home." If Sokka wants to stay here with /her/, then fine. It's not like she can order him to leave, and she's said what she wanted to stay. And if Jinx /isn't/ here to blow stuff up... then fine. She'll go home, eat and spend time with Tony and Pepper before Stadler comes to pick them up.
Jinx     "Have fun with being a cop!" Jinx's voice gets a similar edge to it... and she stands up from Sokka's beach blanket, letting him take it if he's leaving, at least.

She peels off her sunglasses, revealing shockingly red irises, and looks to the young fella. "I'd follow her if I was you. Wait no." She purses her lips. "I'd be doing... other things, if I was you, but /you/ should probably go with her. She looks /mad/."
Sokka Sokka cringed, nodding. "Oh, most definitely. Well, you have my number now, Jinx, call me," he said, giving her a wave and... he did leave her the picnic stuff. Why? Because Toph was PISSED and he wanted to make sure he could run for his life if need be without being weighted down. He just brought his clothes and space sword and boomerang.

He walked besides her and frowned, before reaching out and going to ruffle her hair... before stopping.

"Toph, is there something else? Like, I get you're mad but..." Then... "Are you worried she was going to hurt me, or something? You know i don't need my hand to be held, I can, for like... sometimes, take care of myself. And I don't think she wanted to kill me or anything. I think she was just feeling lonely and scared with all that's going on and she wanted someone to hang out with."
Toph Beifong     Toph's steps are more like stomps as she marches off the beach, her hands balled up into fists as she heads on back towards Malibu point. Stupid Jinx! Stupid Sokka... A grumble leaves her, and she kicks a rock on the beach, sending it flying across the beach. Eventually it elicits an 'ow' from a couple of people who were sunbathing.

Sure, she's aware of Sokka running to catch up with her, but she doesn't stop as she marches on. It's a good thing he doesn't actually ruffle her hair however. So she will settle for scowling as she walks along the beach, her pace brisk. "She /has/ hurt people before, Sokka. And she's strong too, so don't underestimate her." She might not want to kill Sokka, but... there was something in her tone of voice, with how she hugged Sokka... "And I know you can handle stuff yourself, I just wanted to remind you that we're on a schedule." If so, she could have called him on the radio, right?

Walking a little faster, Toph hurries on without another word.
Sokka Sokka follows quickly besides her, before glancing down at her. Okay, something was definitely up. He grabbed her shoulder and tried to whip her around. "Toph," he snapped. "Something is up. If you wanted to call me, you could have just called me. You didn't have to come in person. And since when have you cared about schedules? I'm the schedule guy."

He leaned in closer. "I know you... almost as well as anyone. I know something is up. Listen. We're best buddies, there's nothing you can't tell me. I mean... I... I've told you things I've never told anyone. That I would NEVER tell anyone else. And I know you've done the same for me. So... tell me, Toph." His voice got serious. "Did she kill someone? Someone... precious to you?" He thought it was about JINX! Okay, it probably partially was, but...
Toph Beifong     As Sokka grabs her shoulder Toph frowns, trying to yank herself free as she lets out an annoyed huff. "I'm only worried about the schedule because my dad and mom won't let me hear the end of it if I don't have a damn good reason for being late! And in case you missed it, Stadler is even a bigger stick in the mud!" So yeah, totally that. Nothing else.

He leans in closer, and Toph turns her face away, eyes narrowed as she pouts, crossing her arms in front of her chest again. "She didn't kill any of my friends, no. She... blew me up a few times, okay? So go hang out at the beach if you want to be late and have Stadler yell at you, not my problem." She waves it off, closes her eyes and then continues walking. If Sokka wants to hang out with Jinx, then so be it. She does pull out her radio though, fiddling with the frequencies there.
Sokka Sokka sighed and walked besides her, shaking his head. "Toph, don't expect me to buy any of that for a second. I mean, I may not have your awesome bending truth telling thing, but I know that's not it. is it because i left without telling you directly? I wasn't planning on being gone that long, really. I just thought... you know, you'd appreciate it. I know how important being around family can be during times like this."

Then scratched his chin. "Is it because I lost to Lloyd? I mean, he hit me with lightning. He went total Azula on me, what was I supposed to do?" he asked with a shrug before sighing. "Or is it this Stadler guy?" He then grinned. Well, he might as well hit the nerve if she was going to be difficult. "You crushing on him, or something? That why you got so mad when Lloyd called me your boyfriend in front of him?"
Toph Beifong     Ugh, why can't he just let it go already? She got to check that he was safe and not in danger from Jinx. It's not like she can order and boss him around, but now he's being way too nosy.

"I /have/ been spending time with my family, it's not like I will be missing them when I'm off training with the Paladins!" she claims. "I'll meet them again at Christmas! They aren't like my parents back in Gaoling who worry about me all the time, you know..."

Why is he still droning on and on? "And so what if you lost to Lloyd? He was a general in the Union and known for his swordfighting, plus he's an angel!!" Now Sokka's just being silly. Then Toph blink and halted in her steps as Sokka goes down a totally wrong path. Her expression is deadpan, though she slowly raises her foot... and kicks it down. The sand underneath Sokka's feet explode upwards, launching him upwards and out to the sea, fortunately not too far out so he's in danger of drowning. But he /will/ get wet.

"I don't crush on men who are old enough to be my dad, dunderhead!" she calls out in clear annoyance, then stomps off!
Sokka Sokka nodded listening and... then blinked. Wait, why was she-- oh shi-- He realized too late what was happening, splashing down.

After many minutes he managed to come out. With a squid on him. Somehow. He'd probably catch up with her around the house, his arms crossed and sighed. "Toph, I just thought that I was..." And then went quiet.

"You know what? You're right. It's your personal matters. I'll drop it." He made his way towards the house, the squid still stuck to the top of his head before he finally flung it into the pool.
