Toph Beifong     New York is a bustling city, especially for somebody who's used to other places with far less people and not so complicated feats of engineering. Over the years Toph has gotten quite used to this place, mostly because that aside from Malibu, Stark Tower is where the Starks spend a lot of time. Particulary Pepper, who is the one who really pulls the reins behind Stark Industries. It also helps that there's the penthouse apartment high up, providing one hell of a view of New York and the area around it. It's the first time Sokka gets to see the place, though it's only a brief stop to put their stuff there after they return from their trip to their own world.

As always the teens have enough stuff to do, travelling back and forth between places... but Toph is adamant about spending some time with her family too. But as Pepper has enough work to do, why not take advantage of the place they're in? So Toph gets changed into some of her clothes fitting for this world, jeans, a shirt and jacket, then drags Sokka with her down from the penthouse apartment, all the way down and out of Stark Tower... and to the nearest mall. Because if there's something the blind girl knows about Sokka, it's the fact that he absolutely loves shopping.
Sokka Sokka wasn't sure about this thing. This 'mall'. It didn't seem like a very good idea, after all. All these weird shops, together? It seemed like some kind of strange social experi--

"SQWEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Awwww, he was in teenage girl mode. The moment they went inside, he grabbed her hand and started hauling her around. "Ohhhh, look at this! At this! THEY HAVE A SWORD STORE!" And... ".... What is with these flimsy things? How could anyone use them to fight with? I'm pretty sure I could break half of these with my bare hands."

He shook his head and then... "Oh my gosh... look... at that bag... it's so... red... and big... and it has so many pouches. And is that a padded shoulder strap? Oh my gosh..." ... He was such a dork. And then... the food court. "Toph. Pinch me." All the food. in one. Location.
Toph Beifong     Yup, this is the expected reaction all right. "I told you!" Toph laughs, looking amused as she's dragged along, not really fighting it. Sokka is easily excitable, and he'll need some time to calm down, as well as get used to the fact that there's tons of stores in one place, all competing for his attention. "This isn't like the markets back in our world!"

Sure, let him look at the model weapons at the gaming store where all the sweaty and stinky nerds gather. It's a fun store for some people, though Toph herself doesn't really hang out here considering she's not one for comics, models and such. But it seems that Sokka has an interest in this place. "Yeah, there's lots of sturdy bags around here. They're quite useful, I have some of those," Toph says with a casual shrug, only to blink when Sokka discovers the food court in the distance. Pinch him? Sure, she can do that, she supposes. So Toph reaches down and pinches Sokka's butt, managing to keep her expression calm.
Sokka Sokka yelps, his cheeks going red and he grabs her hand. "T-toph, we talked about this!" he squeaked, staring down at her. "What if Antlers heard about that?" he asked, before leading her deeper into the world that was shopping. And probably getting so many looks.

The question on everyone's mind. How did a dork like that get a hotty like her? Also, there was no way that sword was real... right? He then... "I'll get some gum gum chicken annnnnd... a beef tortas." ... Mexican and chinese, the perfect combination! His arm rested comfortably around her shoulders and then... ".... What in the world is laser tag?"
Toph Beifong     At the yelp Toph can't help but let out an amused laugh, unable to keep a straight face as she grabs onto his arm instead. "Hey, you told me to pinch you! Consider that payback!" As for Stadler? "Relax," Toph assures Sokka, "it's not like he's always watching us, you know." For now she follows Sokka though, holding onto his arm as he leads the way to the food court. Are people watching? Seems like it. "You might wanna go pick up some clothes that make you stand out less... and why didn't you leave space sword at the tower?" she asks, not sounding like she minds it too much. Elites often carry weapons, but still... "People in this world aren't that used to people being armed, except for law enforcement. And it's not like we're here on official duty either..."

Oh man, laser tag. Toph seems to think for a moment on how to explain it. "Well, it's kinda like a non-violent battle in the dark. You wear a vest with blinking lights, and you shoot at them with a laser gun, earning points. It's a team fight, I tried it once. Not too fun unless you have seeing eyes, really... Maybe you should drag some people with you for it sometime, I think you'd like it."
Sokka Sokka shrugged, holding her close. "I don't know. If I'm not doing it with you, what's the point?" he said, before giving her a soft kiss on the lips. "We could do all kinds of other things, anyway. And eh, i have enough people shooting at me during my day job. I'm getting better at dodging the bullets, though. A lot better." He nibbled her neck, just a little. "Love you, sweetling. Here!" And guided her to a seat, putting the food in front of them. "Let's eat!"

He sat for a moment and... "No way am I leaving space sword at the tower. I just KNOW if I did, it'd be the time when the tower gets attacked or something and there is no way I'm going to risk losing space sword again. Heck, it's saved both of our lives more times than I can count, it's like a member of the team!"
Toph Beifong     "Because you might have fun with some other people, you know? Seeing people seem to like it, so why not try it? It's not like I need you to hold my hand or anything all the time," Toph points out, turning her face a bit towards his when she 'sees' him leaning in. "Besides, it doesn't hurt. Unless you do something silly again, of course. Like throwing yourself around on the playing field or somethi-- hey!" A bit flustered, Toph bats at Sokka when he leans in towards her neck. "Not in /public/!" she states, then... blinks. "Did you just call me /sweetling/?" she asks, blushing. And here she thought he didn't like Aang and Katara calling each other 'sweetie'. Though she does let him guide her over to a seat, sitting down.

There's no denying that space sword means a lot to Sokka, though Toph does arch an eyebrow at Sokka as he points out reasons for not leaving the weapon behind. They do make sense, she won't argue for that. "You could at least put it into a sack to hide it or something... people in this world aren't used to weapons being carried openly like that, you know?" Maybe... put it in a large bag or something. Instrument case...
Sokka Sokka nodded. "Of course. You're like a delicious, delightful little sugar snack. I just want to lick and nibble you all day long~" he said, before leaning in an nipping her ear. "And why not? I think it's cute the way you just squirm... And i guess. But... I'd rather not do something if I know it's not something you can do. You're my girlfriend... I want to be able to share all aspects of my life with you. Even if not that moment."

He snorted. "Right. I'll carry it around in a big bag. it can be 'space flute' for a while," he said with a big grin before stroking down her back. "You look beautiful tonight, you know. I could gaze at you forever... every second of every day..."
Toph Beifong     Again Toph reaches out, this time pushing at Sokka's arm while blushing furiously. "Sokkaaaaa...!" Yes, she will whine if you keep that up! "You complain if I pinch your butt and then you do stuff like this? It's not fair!" she mock huffs. And then she turns serious. "What? It's not like I can share bending with you, that's my thing. You can do your fun actitivies that require seeing stuff, it's not like you shouldn't try it just because I'm unable to do it, you know?"

Since Sokka set the food down in front of them, Toph will reach out and begin eating some of it while she picks up a napkin. "You do that while I eat the food then," she snorts. Though she does hold up a piece that she aims to shove into his mouth. Nopes, she still gets embarrassed by talk like that. "So... what kind of stuff do you want to look at first? Clothes? Computer stuff? Accessories?"
Sokka Sokka snickered and then nodded. "Well, yes. But that's just kissing. It's completely okay. In fact, it's even needed at times." Gave her a light nuzzle. "He just said things like... as long as we keep it all above the waist, he should have no complaints." He gave her another soft kiss. "And it's not that. Sure, you can't share your bending with me. But at least I can see you kicking butt. Something like that, nothing you could even really feel. Besides, it doesn't even sound that cool. If i really wanted to do it, I'd use those uhhh... squirt gun things. I KNOW you can feel that," he teased.

"mfffg!" And he was force head. He hacked and coughed, chuckling. "Heh. You're adorable when you're feisty!" He then looked her up and down... "Actually, accessories might be nice. I hear there's another weird holiday coming up. Valentines day. Apparently I'm supposed to buy you like... a dozen roses, fifteen pounds of chocolate and a diamond ring."
Toph Beifong     Okay, Toph is definitively blushing now. "... Sokka? Can we /please/ not talk about stuff like that where people can hear?" she manages to utter between clenched teeth, looking a bit uncomfortable as she leans in close. "You never know what people are hearing! And remember those people with all the cameras? They're /everywhere/, and they really want dirt on famous people and their families." Hint hint.

Heh, so Sokka would be more up for a water gun fight? At that Toph snickers a bit, looking amused. "Really...? Heh, I bet you'd like a fight like that. It's kinda like a snowball fight, except less cold." She seems to consider something, but she lets the topic rest.

"You should get some clothes too so you don't stand out so much in this place too," she says, munching on her food. "And you can get one of those bags if you want one, something to keep space sword in, a clock and crud...." Oh man, Valentine's... don't even remind her. For most of the years Toph hasn't given any thought to that holiday, mostly because it's all for lovey dovey people, and she's never had a boyfriend before. And to hear Sokka talk about it... pardon her for not being a bit uncertain on what to think. The blind teenager blinks where she sits, then pokes at the food in front of her as she lowers her head a bit. "You... don't really have to get me anything, you know. A-and especially not a ring, here in this world you usually only give rings to your girlfriend if you want to marry her." Which is a fair warning, considering he didn't even recall his own culture's traditions regarding those matters.
Sokka Sokka nodded, grinning and then pulled her a little close, feeding her a bit of the tortas. "Fine, if it really makes you that nervous, I'll stop. But I just want to make sure you know I adore you." Nuzzle. "And who cares? If they wanna get pictures of me being in love with my girl friend, let them," he teased.

He nodded. "Yeah, I think it'd be a blast. YYou and i would be experts at that kind of thing at this point," he said with a snicker.

He blinked. "Really? Well... if you don't want me to, I could... but... a lot of people seemed to think it was a pretty big deal. And... I think you're a pretty big deal." He gave her another soft, gentle kiss on the cheek. "At least, to me. Right, no ring. Maybe some earrings? They could go with the necklace." ... He was going to deck her out in the full item set before long.
Toph Beifong     "Sokka..." Toph sighs, then pokes him in the side. "Shouldn't you be worried about Stadler seeing any photos that those nosy paparazzis might snap?" Still, she does look a bit amused at that thought. Stadler reading gossip magazines... "Also, I know how you feel. I read people better than most, remember?"

There's only one real danger, and that's Sokka going overboard with the entire thing. "If you do want to buy into the whole Valentine's thing, then you could always think of something fun we can do that day and surprise me, you know?" Toph points out. "I mean, something we can both enjoy. Like going out somewhere where fun stuff happens..." she suggests, leaning into the kiss he plants on her cheek. "I mean, it's nice when we both have fun, right?" She picks up some more food, not putting it into her mouth just yet.
Sokka Sokka blinked. Pulled back quickly. "Crud. You're right. He does seem the sort to read those kinds of things, doesn't he?" ... He read people just... so well. "Well, okay, maybe not him. But he probably has people who read them for him. And... that'd probably end poorly for me." He sighed and just leaned against her. "I guess that's true."

He hummed, rubbing his chin. "Somewhere we'd both have fun... huh... I wonder..." He thought and he thought and then his eyes sparkled. "I know! It'll be perfect. Just you wait, Toph," giving her one more kiss on the cheek. "Prepare to have your socks knocked off. "Yup. Overboard.
Toph Beifong     Okay, that seemed to get through to him. Toph can't help but snicker a bit for herself as she works on finishing up their food. "You know he does love paperwork. Can't you just imagine him hiding those magasines in his desk under all that paperwork? And that he's reading them when he thinks nobody is looking?" That's a pretty hilarious mental image! "I mean, we all have some secrets, right?"

As Sokka leans into her Toph does reach up to pat his back a bit, resting her head against his shoulder a bit. Okay, since he's thinking it's a bit nice and quiet. Though not for long as Sokka seems to have gotten an idea. Blinking, Toph arches an eyebrow. "Okay, I won't even ask," she comments. "Though I do have to point out that I don't wear socks unless when you drag me to the South Pole. Now come on." The food is done, it's itme to go buy some clothes and accessories!
Sokka Sokka blinked and snorted. "Hey, some of those magazines are pretty good. I now know fifteen different ways to tell if my man is into blonds or brunettes," he said with a nod. "... Which would be more efficient if, you know. I wanted a man."

"Gotcha. Socks it is," he said. He... he WAS joking, wasn't he? ... Please say he was joking. He grabbed her hands and... shopping montage! "Ohhhh, these lil claw finger things are awesome! Ohhhh, I always thought about getting an earring... Why would someone DO THAT to their nose? Ouch, wouldn't make a hole that big in your ear hurt? You pierce WHAT?!" And wow he got out of that shop REAL quick.
Toph Beifong     A snort leaves Toph, and she leans close and kisses Sokka's cheek. "Remember what Kilik said, obviously I don't pass for a girl since I'm more macho than most of you guys."

Shopping is certainly an interesting experience. Most of the time Toph is used to shopping with Pepper, or with some other girls that she used to be in the Union with. Going shopping with Sokka however is way more amusing. But at least they seem to have gotten a fair amount of things, not to mention Sokka has gotten to see several things that are bound to leave an impression. Modern life certainly is strange to people who didn't grow up with it. "Eh, piercings are weird... and why would you get an ear ring anyway? I always use clipons that Pepper has bought for me... and no, I dunno why people would ever think that sticking metal through certain parts of their body is a good idea."

With her hands full of shopping bags she sticks close to Sokka since she can't hold onto his arm for now. "So... anything else you wanted to check out at the mall before we head back to Stark Tower?" she asks.
Sokka Sokka gave a snort. "Oh? so do you prefer blonds or brunettes, then? And no, I won't tell you which I am first~" he teased.

He shdudered. "I mean, honestly, I swear people are insane. There's no other reason they'd do... THAT to themselves." He gave her another squeeze. "Just, as a man, heck ,as a PERSON, it seems insane." Awwww, he was scared of the big mean shop people. :P

He shook his head. "No, not--" Then his eyes got wide. "What's THAT?!" he yelled, dragging her off. Despite having full hands. No one knows... It... was... an ice rink?
Toph Beifong     The teasing earns a snort from Toph, who elbows Sokka /hard/ in the side. "I prefer Meat Heads, obviously."

Somehow Toph looks amused as they walk down the hallway of the mall, snickering just slightly. "Hey, I would have liked to known what your face looked like when the piercing guy suggested you should get one yourself." Yes, it does seem insane. "At least I would be able to feel it if you got some metal on your face, you know?" she teases back. Only to yelp when she's dragged off. "H-hey, Sokka! Wait!"

The ice rink does make Toph look confused for a moment before she realises what it is. "Oh, that. People skate on it," she huffs. No, that's nothing she cares much for.
Sokka Sokka laughed with that one, giving her a light tap on the arm. "Heh. Well, fortunately I prefer people who... rock." Oh yes he went there.

He then blinked. "... Well, that's... actually not a bad reason to get some piercings. Though. Huh. Maybe I should look into it."

He grinned and then... "Do you wanna give it a try?" Leaned in closer, pulling her to his side. "It'd be a fun excuse to hold you close to my side..."
Toph Beifong     He seriously wasn't considering getting any piercings, was he?! Toph halts at that, arching an eyebrow. "Sokka, I wasn't being serious." Because putting metal through your face never seems like a good idea if you ask her.

And as for the skating rink? That makes Toph look slightly uncomfortable. "I... don't really think so, I mean, there's the ice, you gotta put your feet in those weird shoes with metal underneath them on, I won't be able to see anything either... besides, you hold me close all the time anyway!" Somebody looks nervous.
Sokka Sokka glanced back,. "What? I think you being able to see me would be pretty cool. I mean, not my thing but... if you'd rather I not, I won't," he said with a smile. "Was just a though."

He blinked a few times and then held her, tightly. "Okay, fine. We won't, my little Tophikins. But... if you ever change your mind. You know I'd never let you fall," he whispered softly, delicately into her ear.
Toph Beifong     "I can see you, you know. In my own way," she says softly. "Not to mention I can hear you."

Skating is not something for her, and it's good to know that Sokka respects her discomfort at certain things where she isn't in control. As he holds her tightly she turns her head slightly, then rests her forehead against Sokka's cheek. "I know you won't..." And then she kisses him quickly with a soft smile before she nods her head to the side. "Let's head back and watch some movies until mom's done working instead, huh?"
Sokka Sokka nodded. "Okay. If you're sure." Before finally letting her go and scooping up his bags.

"Sure, that sounds great. Anything you wanna watch?" He paused. "Nothing super bloody and horror filled again. Just becuase you can't see it doesn't mean I can't," he teased, before giving her one last loving peck on the cheek. "Let's go, Tophikins."
