Scene #5159: Chance Meeting

Yunomi Stadler	THE CITY WORLD OF RAVNICA -- IZZET SECTOR -- NIVIX Yunomi was finally getting around to taking down the rest of the Christmas decorations, a few raspberry bushes that produced both red and blue raspberries being carefully tended to in a couple of pots before sent on their way to other parts of the district. She was wearing soe lighter clothes for the work, a red and blue coverlet beneath a dark brown apron, her goggles pushed up and mushing back into her red and blue locks. She flits from place to place, checking on the plants, making sure all the greenery remaining in the low light (and occasionally high, lightning-sourced light) of the lobby is in good condition, with Yu over her shoulder humming chipperly, and Mi in her apron pocket with her own (tiny) set of shears.
Rhapsody	A day in the life! After making her rounds on many of the other floors in Nivix, the Guildmaster, with clipboard in hand, appears after the large elevator pings out its arrival chime. As she strolls out, typical coat and clothes covering her form, she blinks at the sight of the foyer, then realizes why it seemed different. Spotting Yunomi and her kodama, the dragon gives a smile, happily ticks a box on her board, then tucks it away inside her coat before waving to the trio. "Good afternoon!"
Yunomi Stadler	Yunomi glances down, and gives a great, big grin as she spots Rhapsody. She gives a wave, and flits down, coming to rest lightly on her toes, rocking from them to her heels and back, like an overexcited kid. Well, Rhaps did make her heart beat quicken, can't be blamed for that. "Hey, Rhaps. Keeping up with the worklists?" She inquires of the guildmaster, her eyebrows rising up as her lips purse.
Rhapsody	"Hellooooo. Nice to see you!" Rhapsody seems just as happy to see Yunomi, as feelings were quite mutual. "Lists? Yeah. With taxes basically done, now, its back to business as usual, or as 'usual' as it gets around here. Something explodes in the distance high above. ".. Yep. That seems about right. Haven't heard something like that in a while! How're you and yours doing?
Yunomi Stadler	Yunomi glances up at the explosion, does some quick mental checking, and decides it's (probably) okay to let it go. "Just about finished cl eaning up from Christmas. Sorry it's taken so long, but I guess I went a little wild with the brambles and raspberries." she laughs, rubbing the back of her head. "She had to convince Albert that it wasn't good to eat them midway through trying to move them." Mi explains, "And he was a bad flying hippo and did not cease!" Yu giggles.
Rhapsody	"It's fine! It's fine. We've all been really busy during the start of the year, so, please, don't worry too much about it. Things now are probably as calmed down as they can get. I think most of the refugees we let in are settled or have moved on, and the multiverse, well," Pause, a light shrug, "What's done is done, like it or not. We're here, we have our homes, we have each other. If a few things have gotten behind, I'm not going to get upset, promise." Smile. "I have a .. few changes in mind. Have been considering them for a while. Once I have it all ready I'll let you and everyone else know. For now?" The list comes out, she skims it, and then just tosses it over her shoulder. It doesn't ever clatter, though. That Rizix is always everywhere, isn't he? "I think work is over, eh?"
Yunomi Stadler	"Ha! Busy doesn't even describe, first I had to go through all the paperwork to get me officially listed back in the guild, at rank, with proper regalia, and MAN did the Arbiters not like that a bit, then I had to go through all this 'proof of existence' paperwork and I'm pretty sure it's because they know I borrowed soething but can't find out what I borrowed because I put it back like a good tanuki!" Yunomi offers as a joke, and she leans against a handy -- nothing, she just sort of hovers there. Show off. "Refugees have been settled, including Ryuumura below, and I went through and re-enforced some of the tunnels and infrastructure of the crack and set up a watch post against Gruul incursion..." Yunomi lists off, and then she pauses, and glances up at Rhapsody, her eyebrows coming up. "I thought we were done with secrets." Yunomi observes, and the Kodama appear to take this as a cue. Yu hops off Yunomi's shoulder, and Mi from the pocket of the apron, and they give hurried waves, stating something about escorting the goblins to the kitchens.
Rhapsody	There's a tilt of the dragon's head, seemingly unsure of the statement, though after a moment's thought she seems to realize what she said. "Oh! No no, nothing has been finalized. I'm just setting things up here so that they run well without me having to dot every I and cross every T. Basically, the Izzet will have a few different divisions. Me, you, and the other allies we've made across the multiverse will be able to sign up in the Explorers Division. We'll be the ones going out into Ravnica, or the Multiverse as a whole, to do what we've become good at. Helping people, protecting them, and bringing back things that can make Ravnica better. The remainder of the Izzet will keep doing what it has always done. Provide all the utilities the city needs and the research to keep us at the front of Ravnican progress and ingenuity. I didn't mean to hide it, Yunomi, it just hasn't been finalized, that's all."
Yunomi Stadler	Yunomi gives a slight grin, and she hops up into the air in oter to grasp Rhapsody's shoulder. "All right. THAT is fair. I'm just... I'm trying to look out for you." Yunomi states, and she drops back down, rubbing the back of her head. "Look out for us. Without the Union, and now in the League thing... it just seems like it's a whole lot of bad ham now-a-days. I dunno. Maybe Dad rubbed off on me too much. Getting too nervous."
Rhapsody	"No, no, it's okay. Even I've wondered a little bit about the League of Progress from time to time. There are some major bad apples in there, but at the same time there are some pretty good ones too. I'm being extremely selective with who I decide to help out and who I don't. I won't deny it isn't the best situation, but if I see even a single hair of evidence that they may do something to us or Ravnica I disagree with, we're out. Same for you.. if you really don't want us there, we're gone." Candid truth, "I won't have them interfering with our projects like the Telescope or Nexus, our home, or our families. Period."
Yunomi Stadler	"I'm only there because you are. You're my vested interest in them." Yunomi admits, drawing herself up to her full five foot height. "ALthough quite frankly I'd prefer at least a five year waiting period before Drastic Measures have to be taken again." she offers as a joke to Rhapsody, trying to lighten the mood a bit.
Rhapsody	SUDDENLY, HUG. "Acceptable!" Big smile then she has a seat on a nearby seat there in the foyer. "Something else, by the way. I know you train a lot in the library. With your abilities restored, um.." a glance over, "I mean, Jeannette is great and has built up a great foundation in my swordplay, but I have a feeling that with what you can do you may be able to help push my abilitiy a little further. If you want? Heck maybe you can help my spellcasting too. I was so used to having trouble with Red that now that I can access it I'm having trouble controlling it. Last time I cast a lightning bolt I think I cast about 4 at the same time. And who knows, maybe I can teach you something. No idea what! But hey, who knows."
Yunomi Stadler	OH GOD THE HUGS. SO MUCH HUGS. Yunomi's hugged to Rhaps, and she laughs and wraps her arms around Rhapsody's waist, just holding to her for a moment. "Ooh, mage's dueling. Lighting bolts at Dawn. Careful what you ask for, Rhapsody Mizzet. I'm a very tough trainer." Yunomi grins easily, and plunks down next to the dragon. "Well, I'm still getting used to having some of these powers back. Whatever happened, it worked. Fantastically. I feel stronger than I did with Namamura. Maybe it's because the connection here is... well. One I chose. I didn't get the choice before."
Rhapsody	A light lean. The dragon is aware of the differences in size. "Actually, I'm pretty aware of what I'm asking. I've considered other people out in the Multiverse but I think someone as familiar with Ravnica as you would probably work better, hmm? I may sound like father saying it, but you've grown a -lot- here, and I think your experience would help a lot. I don't expect it to be easy. If it was, I wouldn't learn anything." "I'm also glad for you. Seeing you happy here, happy with what you have, and with your people near by? When I invited Namamura here, I wasn't sure how it would go in the end. It's been difficult, but I think we're both better for it. Why not improve each other like swords sharpening one another, hmm?"
Yunomi Stadler	"I'd prefer something better and more useful than swords." Yunomi points out playfully. "We're complimentary. You and me, two different worlds thrown together for better or for worse. I -- and everyone else from Namamura -- we're greatly appreciative of the way we've been accepted with open arms..." Yunomi grins, "But you know I would have found a way to get them in here."
Rhapsody	The dragon nods, "True, true, more useful would be better, I won't argue. As for Namamura, I'm glad to have done it. When I found out about Ryuumara It meant a lot to me. For everyone to accept their place here? It was the moment I knew everything turned out well." Mind the snugging tail. It is sneaking around! "But.. however you want to train me, or us, then I am all for it. I don't want to sit on the sidelines anymore. I want to get -out- more."
Yunomi Stadler	"Good. We'll start tomorrow then. I"ll come up, get you up, we'll have breakfast and then we'll run around the district. Followed by katas for an hour, and then maybe a little sparring. Meditation, then off to the labs, ne?" Yunomi gives a grin, half-jokingly. "Maybe you'll be able to land a hit on me one of these days."
Rhapsody	"Maybe! It'd certainly be a good start," Rhapsody seems delighted by the idea of it all. "Heck of a good way to start the day, I think. . . Thank you, Yunomi. "Hopefully I haven't forgotten everything Jean taught me."
Yunomi Stadler	"Well, Jean and I have very different fighting styles. Before I could do swords, my sensei had me practice staves. One thousand forms of mastery, he called it, because every weapon is an extension of a stick. Naginatas and swords? Sticks with blades. Sai? Stick with spikes. Jo? Big sticks. Little sticks. Hand-held sticks. Laser sticks, sticks with catgut and feathers and a steel tip..." Yunomi recites, and reaches into her apron, pulling out a pair of cookies and offering one to Rhaps.
Rhapsody	The cookie is happily accepted, then nommed on as she gives a nod. Thinking about it, she couldn't come up with an example that was different from what was said. The last one gets a brow quirk but she doesn't ask about it. After a few nibbles, "Mm.. this is good.." first, then, "Do I need to take a step back, leave the spellblades alone for a while?"
Yunomi Stadler	"Nah. You've been doing well with those, but some of the balancing can be done with a staff. For instance --" Yunomi hops up lightly to the back of the seat, her ears flattening, her tail drawing up as she draws like a ballet dancer to one toe, and leaaaans forward, carefully. "Awareness of your body, of all your body parts should become second nature to you in a fight. It's especially true if you ever go from tail-to-tailless!"
Rhapsody	This has the dragon's full attention. Rhaps gives a nod to what's said, "I hate to think that would happen, but yeah, that's a good point.."
Yunomi Stadler	"Well, shapeshifter. I lose my tail, or my ears, I have to adapt to a different amount of balance. Right?" Yunomi states, and then draws herself up slowly, then hops back down. Nimble tanuki. "Comes in handy between size-changes too. I used to present myself much shorter, but I think I've found a good height."
Rhapsody	"I think you did too," Rhapsody compliments as Yunomi continues. "That's something I'm as good at. I could probably change between this form and my dragon form, it just takes a little.."
Yunomi Stadler	"Time, effort, inclination, someone threatening your girlfriend..." Yunomi trails off, teasing
Rhapsody	The dragon gives another nod, "Motivation is important, certainly," she agrees.
Yunomi Stadler	"Motivation is everything." Yunomi agrees with a wry smile, leaning back and looking up to Rhapsody. "Finding the right one can make training easy -- or give you a very, very dedicated enemy. When you were threatened..." she trails off. "... I had to do something."
Rhapsody	"You did everything," Rhapsody points out. Yunomi gave up -everything- to protect her. "In that -one- moment I -hated- that what I had wasn't enough. Bahamut had to tackle me out of the air to keep me from burning the Senate to the ground. I don't ever want to feel that helpless again.
Yunomi Stadler	"If you weren't enough, Rhaps, I wouldn't have done it." Yunomi replies, straightening up. "In that moment, when I was willing to give everything I had and fade into nothing if it meant protecting you. That is the very basis of my being as a Guardian. I Protect..." Yunomi reaches up, cupping the edge of Rhapsody's muzzle as she narrows her eyes. "Even in that moment, when I knew I was fading, I /knew/ that if I had to do it again that next thirty seconds or in the next lifetime, I would. Every Time. For any one of you." She leans forward, and presses her forehead to the snout, closing her eyes. "You helped give me purpose when all I could do was be angry and full of sorrow. You and Rainbow Dash came to me. You stopped me from losing everything I had, again, maybe forever. You. Give. Me. Purpose. And you give me love."
Rhapsody	The dragon leans forward ever so slightly, nodding only as far as the cupped hands would allow. "I.. I know.. I know it is what you are, I just would rather be beside you than hiding behind you, you know? I will never stop thanking you for what you did, but I do not want you to have to do it again. I will -never- stop loving you, either."
Yunomi Stadler	"You were never hiding. You were doing everything you could to find me and protect me. You were a very public target and very in the front of me through most everything, Rhaps." Yunomi gives a smile, and then draws up, giving a peck of a kiss to Rhaps's nose. "And if you argue with me being here to protect you and take those blows for you, you're arguing with your dad. And he'd probably just let us argue until we got too exhausted to do anything and then poke fun at us."
Rhapsody	The peck causes the dragon to go quiet for a long moment before she quietly responds with a nod and a very small laugh, "He would, he so would," she whispers. "Alright... alright.. I .. it just -felt- like I was ineffective, is all. Maybe training will help, maybe it won't.. but I will do anything just to help more."
Yunomi Stadler	"There's more than just fighting, Rhaps. You faced down against a man who could kill you, you walked out, proceded to reconsider your actions and then made a big freaking show of defiance and support." Yunomi points out. "You don't have to be a very skilled fighter to be an excellent politian or to be a great leader. Sometimes, being a leader means that you let the people who are the most skilled do their job -- even if it's one you feel you should be doing. Until then, I shall train you, but you're not goig to like me some mornings."
Rhapsody	Another small nod is given, "Not like is fine. My love will never cease.." And ANOTHER HUG because the world needs more hugs. And.. to be honest, I was flying by the seat of my pants.. it just.. worked out. Thankfully."
Yunomi Stadler	"Worked out wonderfully. You lived. I came back. Your sister accepts that I'm still in existence, and I haven't been arrested yet. Life is good." she jokes.
Rhapsody	"Of all of those, I think Sidonia accepting you is the most miraculous thing of all. Coming back to life is a damn close second, though," she says, trying to joke back a little bit. "And thank you, again, for everything. Even the training if I don't like it."
Yunomi Stadler	"Yeah... yeah I was kinda scared I'd be sent back and have to explain that one. 'Yeah, back to live, killed by Sid. Yep. Axe to the head, very painful. I have no idea where she even /got/ the thing!'" Yunomi gives a grin, and then draws upwards to her feet. "Weeell... should move along, see what Albert's up to."
Rhapsody	A parting snug is given! "Alright, then. I will. ... probably get a lot of rest so that I can handle the insanity I'm going to get in the morning! Maybe drink some water and anything else I may need to do so that I don't just break under the pressure."
Yunomi Stadler	"Yeah. Drink a lot of water, pack a protein bar. Remember: I used to train with /my dad/. And Richard Stadler never took a shortcut."
Rhapsody	A blink, a wince, and a nod. "Ah haha, r-right. . . I'll pack two." Rhapsody smiles, "I won't disapoint."
Yunomi Stadler	"I know you wont, Rhaps." Yunomi gives a grin, "I'll see you around dinner time." she states, and makes her way off. Meanwhile, Mi pokes her head out from behind some gears. "I'm sorry to say, Guildmaste,r but you're doomed."
Rhapsody	A wide-eyed gaze slips over to Mi. And possibly a rather nervous smile. She -forgot- Yunomi was trained by Stadler. "I KNOW."
