Drustan Cynbel Firemountain is worth its name, a massive mountain that at one point must have swallowed its surrounding ones, easily making mount Everest look like a toddler, and that despite the fact it has no peak. At the top is a massive, smoking caldera, and several locations around its side spew lava at any given time. It's a volcano of proportions only found at a location so intimately tied to both the element of fire, and the element of earth.

And thus, it is home to the most prestigious of mountain elf clans, the Firemountain Clan offers many of the potent metals than can only form in such a volatile environment. Adamant, Mithral, Orichalcum and more. The smiths of the Firemountain clan forge these rare metals into tools, weapons and armour for the rich and powerful all across Nydhmorr.

The road towards Firemountain is above ground, well-maintained and only lightly guarded. There is only one publicly known entrance, and it is well guarded enough the elves of Firemountain feel no need to guard their accessways.

Flanking the road are statues of their revered heroes and ancestors, some are small while others are large, some are old while others are new, and some are singular while others are many. A keen eye would notice that one particular design is common, without exception new, and frequently large. One particular example is massive beyond reason. A young looking man, fifteen hundred feet tall, clad in sturdy armour, with an expression of unwavering conviction. The armour on this example is made out of Orichalcum, the radiant gold that gleams even in the darkest night, he holds onto a spear tipped with the same, and a massive woven banner flows in the air, depicting the unblemished heraldry of the Firemountain clan.

The Darkbringer is leaning against one of the feet of this massive statue, wearing his helmet.
August Kohler It takes a bit, but eventually, a boy in a hoodie approaches, with red hair and a stoic expression. He's glancing around at the statues, examining each one for a few seconds before continuing his pace, before finally spotting Drustan and his massive statue. "Darkbringer. Sorry if I'm late, more walking than I'm used to. This volcano is breathtaking, as is the statue design. But I'm sure that's not what we're here to talk about." August gives him a glance that basically says 'at your own pace', looking up at the volcano once more.
Drustan Cynbel "Thanks for coming." He looks up at the statue he's leaning against, "This is a statue of the previous chief of the Firemountain Clan, an instrumental ally o' the Archon o'Light, the Tyrant who rules these lands. Official word is 'e fell into Magma fendin' off an assassination attempt by th' Darkbringer. One o' the more ridiculous claims they've made."

Then, he removes his helmet and steps to the side a bit, another copy of the same statue is in the distance, visually besides him, smaller and less ridiculous in scope and expense, but identical in design. The distance makes it look like they're about the same size, and the resemblance is clear, aside from a few marks of age, the statues clearly depict the same person. "I am what's left of Drust Firemountain, th' champion o' Light an' bane o' the Dark Lord. A naive fool who could nae see 'is allies turn into enemies until th' day they tried to kill 'im."
August Kohler As Drustan explains the statue, August listens quietly, his eyes scanning over both Drustan and the statue he reveals. There's a quiet moment of pondering, befure the boy speaks up again. "But now you're not. You're the Darkbringer, the one who opposes light. Drustan Cynbel. So what changed?"
Drustan Cynbel "Me allies started t'see the means as ends, started to distrust those who disagreed with 'em, and the man I was once such close friends with as te call 'im me brother is now the tyrant who calls himself th' Archon o' Light.." Drustan explains, putting his helmet back on. "When I questioned the growing imbalance o' Light an' Dark, and the dangerous direction it was taking, 'e tried te 'ave me killed. So ah took it 'pun me self te take care o' the problem 'fore 'is lust fer power turns Nydhmorr into a wasteland." He pauses, then clarifies, "Life cannae exist without castin' a shadow, ye see."
August Kohler "Was he actually your brother, or was it more like a bond?" August questions, because that is actually pretty important, then nods. "Balance in all things. So...what do you need to do, to stop him? Because I believe you, and if he's gone mad with power...he needs to be stopped."
Drustan Cynbel "Comrades in arms, I trusted 'im with me life and held 'im almost as dear as me own son." The old elf sounds tired when he says that, the pain of this betrayal not yet faded. "But nae, not born from the same flesh." He looks towards the horizon, where light seems to stream down from the heavens, "See 'at? That be a Pillar o' Light. It's one o' many, an' they are at leyline points, pumping energy straight from the realm o' Light into th' world. It be a trick we stole from the Dark Lord, we thought to break 'is strangehold by reducin' the power o' Dark an' strengthening Light. Now, th'Archon uses it to maintain 'is power and smother th'Dark, an' he doesn't care th'Light will kill everything an' everyone if this continues."
August Kohler "I'm sorry." August frowns, moving and shifting posture to glance at the light from the heavens. "So, that sounds like something the Watch can handle. The question is - how? Do we shut down the Pillar of Light, or do we make a Pillar of Dark?"
Drustan Cynbel "Turnin' em into Dark Pillars only reverses th' problem." Drustan answers the last bit, "As a temporary measure, it may be necessary, as I cannae tell ye how to destroy one o' these things. We cin look into it, o' course, an' we should." The old elf looks upwards, "But this ain't about where te go, this is me tryin' to tell ye why this ol' smith can be a bit o' a cynic by times. Thank ye fer listenin'."
August Kohler "I understand. And I understand your cynicism. Thank you for confiding in me. I'll keep your secret." August glances back up at the volcano, before shortly leaving, nodding his head to Drustan in goodbyes.
