Dr. Vahzilok     Independence Port is a pretty integral part of Paragon City. The sheer length of the zone, much of it water, allows for a great deal of shipping to take place. Even with the meddling of the mafiosos known as the Family, the encroachment of the new gang known as the Tsoo, and the mysterious Council that has supplanted the fascist 5th Column and now actively engages in brazen recruitment right on the streets, people still manage to get by for the most part. In the City of Heroes, there are many champions who fight to protect people and the entire city from these threats.

And yet... Something terrible has happened to frighten the dockworkers into going on strike. They will not work until the problem is resolved. Not only does that mean this is probably even more serious than all the other issues, the constant gangwars on Valor Bridge, the attempts by various villains to get into the nuclear reactor in Terra Volta, at the center of the zone, and so on, but it means that someone should find out what the problem is promptly before shipping grinds to a halt and the failure to load and unload cargo becomes a threat to the functioning of the entire city.

Paragon City is so huge that it is comprised of multiple smaller 'cities'. That is not something that can just have its life lines cut off and bear no consequences for the citizens.

And so, meeting some of the dockworkers at Justice Quay in the southern end of Independence Port, is the first step is resolving this crisis pre-emptively. Whenever the heroes arrive, on foot or by monorail or by other methods available to them, the dockworkers are crowded around, milling nervously and waiting to talk, as hundreds of tons of untouched cargo sits, waiting to be unloaded, ships in the bay left with nowhere to deposit what they've brought or empty holds with nothing to transport.

As ever, the cerulean glow of the War Walls that surround each city zone cast everything in a blueish tint.
Alexis Alexis pulls up at the meeting point on her motorcycle. It's a little passe compared to the various combat creatures she could be riding on, but that's kind of the point. It's a bit less conspicuous than, say, riding up on a giant dragon or a volcanic lion-beast. For what passes as inconspicuous in a city of superheros and megavillains at least.

The tomboy hops off one side of the bike, while her Braixen climbs out of the sidecar, and after both deposit their helmets in said sidecar stroll over towards the waiting dockworkers. "So, word's gotten around you guys have a bit of a problem out here."

A shadow briefly passes over as Alexis is walking up, but then whatever caused it disappears amongst the cityscape of buildings again. Could be one of her airborne creatures, if not a local Cape, keeping an eye on things from the sky.
Dorian Pavus     Definitely something serious, if none of the dock workers are willing to work AT ALL, not even for increased pay. Dorian has, thankfully, learned that throwing money at the problem is not always the answer. Still, that WAS his first thought. But if even the promise of greater pay won't convince them, it's definitely something that needs to be looked into.

It's different than his usual attire, but it's what the people of Paragon City have come to recognize him in, no doubt. His 'costume', if you will. It's a much darker version of his usual leather armor, with a hooded black robe over the lot. The hood is worn up, hiding most of his face. Most of it -- can't cover up that incredible mustache. He spends time and effort to make his mustache look fabulous, there's no sense in hiding it. With this getup, a staff with what may or may not be a human skull at the top, nestled in a curve of the branch-like top of the staff.

Monorail? Wouldn't that look a little weird? But it's all right, Dorian has his own means of transportation. He's getting good at this zipping around practically unseen, in the form of thick, blue-white smoke. But he'll get there, don't worry.

From behind some piece of the scenery, a thick cloud of that blue white smoke will exit, stopping near the workers and reforming into the darker-clad form of the mage. Dorian doesn't 'get' subtlety, even when he's trying to be subtle, it seems. But on the bright side, at least the workers know he's powered, so he might be able to help!

Speaking of which, he offers, both to the workers and to the assembled heroes, "Greetings." And a flourish of a bow. And he isn't leaving the flamboyance behind, either.
Jonathan Joestar Impressive.

While it fit, Jonathan felt the word was a massive understatement, as he left the Taxi that brought him here. It wasn't a month ago at most that he lived in a world of horse-drawn carriages and the greatest civil advancement in technology being in-door plumbing. And now here he was, standing in a city composed of other cities! This dock alone was larger than London itself was back in his own homeworld. Standing at six-foot-four, the muscular Englishman looked positively lost, even when he knew where he was going.

Even if he weren't so well muscled with broad, powerful shoulders, or not so strikingly tall, Jonathan Joestar would be very easy to spot from a mile away, here in Paragon City. His poise and manner of dress were positively ancient compared to his contemporaries, dressed in a white button up and fine wool trousers complimented by suspenders and knee high boots. He very much looked the part of a man out of time.

A look is given to Alexis' motorcycle. Jonathan resisted the urge to poke it, just to confirm that it was in fact, not some kind of mechanical beast. "Good evening, everyone. My name is Jonathan Joestar, I'm here to investigate the incident that has prompted the lot of you to go on strike. I would be very grateful if you could lend me your aide."

With a short and polite introduction, Jonathan placed one hand over his heart in a show of proper etiquette.
Reinhardt Wilhelm     Reinhardt pulls up via truck, already suited up as Brigitte brings him to the RV point. She'll be waiting well away from the scene, while the towering knight exits his trailer. "Hold the vehicle here, I shan't be long."

"No argument here, boss. Don't get in any fights, I'd rather have a full nap for once." Answers the mechanic.

Reinhardt approaches Alexis, nodding curtly to her and her 'mons, as well as Dorian when he arrives. "Good to see you once more, Alexis." He says, before glancing upwards briefly. Spooky.

The British gentleman also gets Reinhardt's attention, as the German removes is helmet to reveal a whited out eye, and a great white beard along his sculpted features as he bows his head. "Herr Joestar." Introductions can wait until after questioning the dockworkers.

It's funny, Jonathan is likely used to being considered the biggest guy in a crowd and here comes ROCKET KNIGHT DON QUIXOTE, in all his seven foot glory.
Maya Maya had picked up a nick name here based off a bounty that techinall still exists on her head on one world but record of tht was lost in the great multiversal barfing and the government that did it was infamously croupt. So she didn't worry about it they called her the Blue Witch and she made it her own rather than let them use it ot insult her. She also had a costume that fit the part which was silly but she didn't care and it fit in with the local culture of this place when she was wearing it too it was also honesly made for.

She adjusted her big floppy witches hat and would move to set down with the others banishing a pair odf wings. She looks a bit sheepish before Jojo and the rest as she bows slighly.

"Who knows what it could be this time. Nazi remants, aliens, mutants, or some invention gone mad."
Princess Luna      As the other heroes gather at the docks a dark, winged figured descends from high above. From afar, it might look a bit foreboding. But, when the figure lands near the gathering, it turns out to be a tall winged unicorn woman with clearly night-themed colorations and a mane and tail that seem to be made of the night's sky itself. She looks the gathered group over once she has landed, then bows lightly. "Greetings. I am Princess Luna of Equestria. I have come to join they efforts to remove whatever threat is keeping thee from thy duties." she says to the workers, then looks to the other heroes and bows again. "It is nice to meet thee. I look forward to working with thee on this problem."
Dr. Vahzilok     Even people from worlds with compareable or far-future technology have had trouble adjusting to Paragon City. The main methods of ground transportation are automobile and tram, but then there's also jetpacks and medical teleporters. People still talk on 2000s-era cell phones, but there are giant force fields to keep out alien invaders. The power source for most or all of Paragon City is a nuclear power plant, and yet they also have laboratories with interdimensional portals that let them explore parallel universes.

And that's not even touching the subject of magic, or that they already had aliens and extra-dimensional visitors/theats here BEFORE their multiverse joined the greater Multiverse (with a capital 'M').

The bizarre mish-mash of elements can be pretty jarring. And yet finding things one is familiar with among all the unfamiliarity is also possible. Jonathan is scarcely the only man who engages in fisticuffs, and there may even be individuals long-lived enough to have been part of his era (or one like it) still around (though many tend not to be, stricly-speaking, normal humans). Likewise, there are heroes in power armor just as their are knights from the middle-ages. There are mages, and there are wielders of space-age rifle technology. Summoners of monsters and masterminds of minions.

Maybe not all of those are here NOW (except for the Multiversal denizens who just got here), but the point is that spending enough time in this baffling city will turn up something recognizable eventually. And hey, this is America, so it's still technically Earth. That, if nothng else, counts as 'something familiar' for Earth-dwellers (and there are people with animal features too, so Luna isn't even that odd).

And so, with all of those assurances of familiarity out of the way, before the leader of the dockworkers can properly address the questions posed and barely gets beyond greeting everyone as they arrive, there are shouts up and down the shore, and people pointing out towards the water at some dark shape below the surface.

Then huge tentacles explode forth into the air and begin menacingly waving back and forth. Some among them start to attack boats or striking at the docks. The dockworker leader points towards the monster and says, "THAT'S the problem!"
Dorian Pavus     A greeting for Alexis specifically! "Hello there." Ah, and there's Reinhardt. Already being aquainted with him as well, Dorian offers, "Good to see you both again." Meaning Alexis as well. He turns to look at the newly-arrived Jonathan Joestar. Blinks. Of COURSE he's going to look. Much like Reinhardt, Jonathan rather hits a few of Dorian's preferences right on the head. Not that he's going to comment on that. Would probably get him punched. Instead?

"Greetings to you," he offers, bowing in the other man's direction. "My name is Dorian Pavus." He has an aristocratic air about him, scarydark attire or not. The way he carries himself denotes pride and confidence in himself.

Maya's words get a sarcastic twist of his mouth. "Why not mutant alien Nazi remnants with an invention that's gone mad?" he suggests. "It would definitely be interesting, at that." The snark is so thick one could cut it with a knife. Luna's arrival gets a bow as well. She DID say she was a Princess, right? "Greetings, Lady Luna." True, 'lady' might not be entirely standard, but it's quick and still shows respect.

With introductions and greetings done, Dorian turns his attention to the plight of the dock workers. And said plight soon becomes apparent. "Well!" Dorian says, with false lightness. "That didn't take long at least." A look to the rest of the group. "Shall we?" He seems ready to battle it. However, the lightness goes away and he says, more seriously. "I should stay on the shore, I can still hit it from there. And I'm no use to you if I'm seasick." No shame in admitting that.

Before they go, though? Barriers. Everyone gets a Barrier. They'll decay quickly without him holding them up, but he can only do that with one Barrier at a time anyway. But it should give them a little bit of leeway. Also it should back up his words that he can hit the problem from the shore.
Reinhardt Wilhelm     Reinhardt wouldn't dare punch. That said, this isn't the time for flirting. That can come later.

That said, if Reinhardt did know how Dorian felt, he'd be awfully flattered...if surprised, given his age. One supposes it's but a number, though.

Handshakes and hellos are offered about, especially to Mr. Joestar, but Reinhardt especially gives Luna a bow of his head. She's royalty after all, only proper one show the right decorum. "Princess Luna, well met, your grace." He greets, then they see...the thing in the port.

"...well, that explains the strike." He muses, scratching his head before he shrugs his shoulders, donning his helmet and clutching his hammer. "Who has a way to get out there, preferably by boat?"
Jonathan Joestar Jonathan smiles gently and nods to Reinhardt and Dorian, they were..familiar, in a way. The way they spoke and the manner they held themselves was something he was accustomed to, more or less, and it was more comforting than the amalgam of mostly unfamilliar things in Paragon City. Maya speaking up netted an expression of contemplation, he didn't know what a nazi or an 'ale-yen' was, but he had a sneaking suspicion of his own. Or rather, he was almost hoping that it was an incident caused by who he was pursuing. "Perhaps..."

A dark shadow falls over their group. Jonathn looks up, his shoulders squaring as he immediately sank into some kind of mixed-martial-arts stance. Some might be able to spot traditional boxing form in it, with the way his legs and arms were positioned. "?!"

        However,

Instead of some terrifying abomination descending on them like his first instinct had assumed, their new arrival turned out to be a...woman. In some manner of speaking, anyway. She almost reminded him of the childhood tales of magical unicorns that some of the girls in his Father's lands were fond of. Sheepishly, he returned to his previous straight-backed posture, looking rather confused. "Erm..that is...yes, likewise, Miss."

Jonathan's blue eyes track towards the sudden screaming and shouting. The tentacles that appeared made him wish he'd come with the sword of Luck & Pluck; he felt woefully unprepared to battle with this..thing. "Some kind of sea monster?!"

The sun was still up and it had yet to burn away, so then, it wouldn't be weak to his Hamon..Jonathan's eyes quickly began to scan his surroundings. There had to be something here to use as a weapon. "Dockmaster, gather your men and retreat! We'll handle this creature!"

If there was an available boat to take, it'd feel wrong to make the dockworkers risk their lives. Steering a boat couldn't be too different in the future-esque world than his home of 1888, could it?
Alexis "Good to see you guys too. And the new faces," Alexis returns the greetings with a nod. The small bipedal fox is simply standing at her side, but there's a brief flicker across her eyes as the Braixen's supernatural senses pick up on something nearby. Ears stand on end as she turns her head a bit. < I don't think we'll have long to wait to find out. >

"What is it Majorette?" Alexis asks as she turns to also look, followed by making a face as tentacles wave about in the air and start trying to smash stuff. "Yep. That's definately a 'big' problem." The newspapers did mention some kind of sea monster, but this definately confirms it. Which just makes her smirk. "This is why we brought the big guy. Call him in, Majorette." "Braix!" The mage-fox pulls the stick from her tail, the end igniting in mystic flame as she holds it up, then shooting off into the air like a flaregun shot.

A few moments later that shadow passes over the Port again, followed by a bellowing roar as the giant creature resembling a manticore of lore swoops towards the docksides. Only to pull up as it comes in low, wings flaring to hold the Missing Lynx aloft as his snake-tail uncoils forward and spews some acidic Venom Breath at one of the massive tentacles.
Princess Luna      Luna can't help but smile at the city. It is very much what Equestria works toward. People of all types and all backgrounds working together for a better future. And her fellow heroes seem quite amicable. She smiles favorably at Dorian as he calls her Lady Luna. It is quite acceptable even if it is only basically accurate. She looks a bit annoyed by Jonathan's reaction to her, but he is obviously sorry about it and so she lets it pass.

The answer to what is the problem presents itself rather readily, and even Princess Luna is startled by the sudden appearance of the tentacles. "Oh my! That is quite a problem!" she agrees. She spreads her majestic wings and takes to the sky. "Fear not, citizens! We shall remove this blight from thy city and restore peace to thy workplace!" she calls out in a voice that actually rattles the area a bit.

Luna holds up a hand, and in a flash of pale blue light she summons a large scythe. As tall as the alicorn herself, it shines with obviously magical power and gives her a paradoxical look as some sort of beautiful, majestic reaper. Without hesitation, Princess Luna dives at the lashing tentacles, twirling through the air like a blender to try and sever as many as she can in one swoop! She fights creatures such as this often enough, after all.
Maya Maya was moving t a good clip with the group she's not getting any real looks form the locals with her outfit oddly enough for a moment.

"I think the best thing to take to the Multiese is? All myths are ... true somewhere."

She smirks a little bit and seem tobe in decent enough spirits. Then it goes away as she sees the huge tentacles.

"Oh fates, why does it have to be tenticles?!?!"

She's alreyd moving to pull card from a pouch in her blue fire bleeds into her card from her body and she's now already moving to let lose a fire spell at one of the tentacles.

"Why does it have to be...TENTACLES?!"
Dr. Vahzilok     The civilians require little in the way of encouragement to run for their lives. Jonathan may find a tug boat large enough for both himself and Reinhardt tied up off one of the docks that can be commandeered as-needed. Thankfully for the heroes, it appears the giant octopus is more focused on one of the cargo ships with all the bystanders on it just waiting for some sign they could actually do their jobs or get underway or SOMETHING. So tentacles are swarming up out of the water, wrapping around the vessel with steel-crushing strength, coiling around the communication tower in preparation to rip it off the hull, and seeking the men aboard who are fleeing from the questing tendrils. Very fortunate for the heroes to get this opportunity to get closer or move into position to attack without being intercepted.

Not so fortunate for the ship's crew.

Alexis's mount's acid breath seems effective against the tentacle she assaults, even as the appendage continues to work at prying apart solid steel. However, the bulbous head of the monster watches the monster-trainer with keen, disturbing intellect and awareness. And soon a blob of black fluid is shooting towards her. If any of it hits her or her mount, not only does the ink burn in a way much like the manticore's own breath attack, but it seems to weigh down the flyer, seeking to deny aerial movement. Oh, and it obscures vision with toxic vapor. What a jerktopus.

While even the tentacle steaming with injuries from Alexis's attack continues to hunt for prey, the cutting bite of Luna's scythe seems to make it up the long line to the nervous center of the octopus and get a response. The appendage turns on her, trying to lash out with crushing force. Even if it misses, the turbulence in the air from the passing of its massive length may be momentarily disorienting. Definitely not something one would wish to get hit with.

And when the octopus registers she has damaged several other tendrils... She shortly finds herself as the target of many of the rubbery limbs at once.

Hopefully the barriers Dorian cast on everyone are up to the task of soaking some hits, not just for Luna, but for any of them unfortunate enough to get struck.

Thankfully, before any more of them can pile on the unicorn woman, Maya's flames strike one of the tentacles, causing the octopus to orient one of its big, unblinking, pure-black eyes squarely on her thanks to the spectacle produced by its own burning appendage.

Soon tentacles are slipping back into the water, only to re-emerge closer to Maya's location, and start raining down on her with a flurry of blows capable of shattering concrete and tearing steel.
Reinhardt Wilhelm     A plan is had, and Reinhardt glances to the tugboat, pointing there. "That way, Jonathan!" He motions, before heading towards it. Hopefully Dorian and JOnathan can get it to work, as Reinhardt can't exactly fit inside the cabin. Once the boat gets moving, Reinhardt stands on the deck, projecting a shield to defend against the swiping tentacles.

They can only get so close so fast, but Reinhardt doesn't want to wait, so he begins to fling fireballs from his hammer at the tentacled terror. He's not a good shot, but he has enough projectiles to fling he'll have to get it right -eventually-
Dorian Pavus     The Elites are encouraged not to test those Barriers, or to rely too heavily on them. Without Dorian actively mantaining them -- which he can only do with one at a time -- they'll only take a couple of hard hits before they disappear. That's really all they're designed for, to give a few moments' breathing room.

Dorian is NOT getting in the water with that thing. He can swim, but he doesn't trust his swimming enough to escape from a giant octopus. Hopefully he's far enough away remaining on the dock to be able to stay mostly out of the way of its wrath.

Though as Reinhardt points at a boat, Dorian gets an idea. He's not a huge guy, he can probably fit. And it'll get him a little closer to the tentacles, too, while still mostly keeping him out of the way. He's going to need that last bit, particularly when he starts with the crowd control, trying to corral those tentacles and keep them from moving too far. He heads for the boat himself, to board.

And it's pretty much instantaneously that he acts. The eyes of the skull in that staff begin to glow, and lightning travels along his arm. As it reaches his hand he aims his palm at an area above the mass of writhing tentacles. An orb of purple/blue-white rises from his hand, connected by a 'strand' of lightning, setting itself in place over the still submerged creature. Dorian pulls his hand back, severing that 'strand', and the lightning orb sparks.

It won't do anything to the tentacles immediately... but should they stray outside of a very small perimeter over the water, they'll find the orb giving them quite a jolt. Better still, the jolt will chain from the tentacle that set it off and a nearby one. So ALL of the tentacles will pay for it if one leaves the perimeter. Hopefully this will at least partially lock down their movement.

If no one's got the boat moving by then, Dorian will get to the motor and try to get it working.
Alexis Alexis takes advantage of the Missing Lynx hovering closer to the ground while it attacks to grab onto one of the hindlegs and climb onto his back with Braixen in tow. She braces herself on his shoulders, gripping a lock of his mohawk mane to help hold on.

One thing you quickly learn about giant flying monsters is just because they are fast enough to fly doesn't mean they are necessarily agile, especially when you're a big, bulky predator. So the splay of noxious ink is an effective counter-attack, though Dorian's magic barriers take some of the edge off the burning sting, it still clings to the beast with additional weight, making it harder to flap his wings.

Alexis lets out an annoyed snort almost the same time as her fantastic beast does. "If it wants us down, make it regret it!" Clysm growls in agreement, and folds back his compromised wings to dive at the tentacles trying to tear the ship open. With size and physical strength he should be able to hit hard enough to knock some of them free. Or that's the general idea.
Princess Luna      Unfortunately, there was no time to give Reinhardt a proper response when the tentacled horror struck. And now, Luna barely has time to avoid the first lash of the tentacle aimed at her. It glances off the barrier Dorian provided but still sends Luna tumbling for a few moments. Enough time for her to get hit by more of the tentacles. The shield takes enough of the damage to keep Luna flying, but she looks kind of battered after that assault. Luckily, Maya draws aggro away from Luna for the time being.

Luna quickly flies over to the tugboat and lands. "Dost thou all wish to have the waterbreathing spell cast on thee?" she asks the two (three?) men. Without waiting for the answer, Luna's spiral horn starts to glow with pale blue light that soon spreads to any who say yes to her question. The spell coalesces around their faces, forming translucent masks of magic that cover the entire face and allow the targets to breath underwater. Then, Luna takes off again, heading to assist Maya.
Jonathan Joestar His searching eyes locate industrial supplies, spilled over in the ongoing attack. Jonathan rushes over, kneeling down to sort through them, his eyes having lit up in a flash of ingenuity. "Aha..!"

        He held up...
        A flat, metal rod.

It was about eighteen inches or so long, and it didn't conform to the hand well like say, a sword. It was in other words, a very poor replacement, but with a little Hamon, he could make it work. Reinhardt's shout drew his attention, and thus the large man proved himself to be carry surprisingly fleet feet as he made a sprint towards the tugboat, Dorian's barrier shimmering lightly around him.

"I'll try and get the boat working!"

He was the one who didn't have a ranged attack right now, after all. Hunkering his body down and twisting slightly to enter the doorframe, he stared with wide eyes at the controls. Levers, buttons, dials and gauges assailed his vision. ...He unfortunately, didn't comprehend it at first glance, and did not have adequete time to study it. Jonathan just began to press buttons and pull on jutting levers in hopes of making the craft lurch forward; that was all they needed. Jonathan could expend Hamon to walk on water, but he'd prefer to have the boat nearby in case the tentacles should overwhelm him.

Dorian, thankfully, relieves him from his failed attempts at doing much more than making their transport rattle. "You can operate this? I see, then I'll leave it to you."

Having returned to the deck, Jonathan nods. "Yes, please, Lady Luna, I'd be most thankful!" ...Magic. He shouldn't be surprised, and yet, he couldn't help but be amazed as he watched her cast her spell. Even so, this was no time to gawk! Jonathan holds the rod in front of his body with one hand, his other held in an odd position to the side. " .... "

His chest seemed to expand with a mighty intake of air. "Kooooooooooooooh......"

Waves of warm light rolled off of his body, before crackling into pure white sparks running along the frame of the flat iron in his hand! "METAL SILVER OVERDRIVE!"

Jonathan jumped down from the boat, feet first into the water. His chest continued to condense and expand in the same manner it had a moment ago, eliciting the water under his heels to spread out, rippling in four different directions. He jogged carefully along the ocean's surface, attempting to get closer, bypassing the tentacles around him. If he were attacked, he'd try and use his enhanced makeshift weapon to knock the appendage away before it could stop him, the Send? running through it increasing its durability enough to survive not only Jonathan's monstrously powerful swings, but hopefully, impacting the massive tentacles of the Kraken.
Maya Maya has a good crew she's with, she knows most of the people here and so far the new people are moving to aid how they are best able to. there is one thing she is thankful for in this city. The typical person knows what to do when insane things show up. This makes it far easier to spot who needs help and whose well on their way to getting out. FOr tthe moment Maya is keeping it bay with fire.

Maya seems to have a think about it, she's had to deal with .... things that had them far too much in the multiverse and her reaction is to just kill it in fire generally.

he's however durable but not /that/ durable she's not the Hulk, she's not like some of Kirito's friends or even SEras. She can't take eveyrhing and she will find help is on the wya but now Maya's scrambling around to try and get clear and not become a pancake.

Mr. Joestar does something interesing and it's not quite like anything she's seen before. Jonathan is alread proving himself to the long time multivberal traveler that Maya is. She's going to be dancing about for a bit and only using less powerful spells after all she needs to move a lot...
Dr. Vahzilok     With the blasts thrown by Reinhardt's hammer, the divebombing by Alexis and her crittermon, the lightning cage produced by Dorian, and the slashing blows from Jonathan, all augmented by the underwater breathing safety net provided by Luna, and Maya doing a good job of keeping a number of the giant octopus's limbs distracted with dodging and fire blasts (also, for an octopus, it sure has a lot of legs. Is it part of some mutation that it has more than eight? Part of why it's so big?), the giant octopus is starting to face more trouble securing a meal than it honestly cares for.

It appears to be living the ship alone now and focusing its efforts on the heroes, but with the damage it has suffered, the loss of several tentacles, and the fact its attackers aren't letting up except to take a breather here or there, it is safe to assume it is not a very happy giant monster.

More of those ink blasts start flying, at both aerial and boat-bound heroes, as the remaining tentacles produce miniature tornados in the wake of their swings, trying to smash the good guys. Some of them seem to be adapting their tactics to try to make more targeted attacks, aiming to coil around potential prey with slithering grasping motions to immobilize them instead of just using blunt force.

Octopi are scary smart, and it's beginning to show in how it's learning from how its enemies react. That spells trouble if the fight continues for an extended period of time.

As huge geysers of water erupt from where a tentacle may miss and strike the surface of the harbor, producing thunderous noise, and the octopus itself sends out sizzling ink blobs, it still continues to suffer accumulating damage from pipes-turned-swords, claws-turned-octopus-shredders, localized lightning storms, and hammerfire that reflects in those inky orbs the octopus has for eyes as they crash into its limbs and head.

This is the kind of fight that will get spoken of for a long time.
Dorian Pavus     Dorian nods to Luna's question. "It could be useful, if this boat gets overturned," he notes. Which is very much a possibility, he knows. He's thinking ahead. So yes please, he will take a water-breathing spell, if it's being offered. Always having a backup!

He nods to Jonathan's question of getting the boat working. "Should be able to," he agrees. Though he's not super-familiar with the workings, it has a wheel and a key to turn. He'll eventually get it working, and get them close enough to the thing to make it easier to fight the thing, but not so close they're sitting ducks. Because he's going back out on deck. This is just in time to see Jonathan beginning to literally run ON the water. Dorian blinks. "Well. That's something." He's trying to pretend he's not impressed. Partly because he doesn't want to get distracted!

Maya's having some issues, it seems. And then inkblobs and small geysers and it's GRABBING AT THEM! On the deck of the commandeered tug boat, Dorian barely dodges an overly grabby tentacle. "EXCUSE me," he hisses. "Not on the first date, you don't -- oof!" That last bit would be because he just got blatted a tentacle on a backswing.

Well, since the tentacled horror is intent on harrassing his allies, why Dorian will just harrass it right back! The eyes in that skull glow again, this time a dark, malevolent purple. With a grunt that very much resembles a martial arts kiai, Dorian thrusts the end of the staff forward, aimed at the mass of writing tentacles. And a purple-and-black ball fires out the top of the staff, roiling with necrotic-type energies.

This should prove conveniently annoying for the tentacled horror since, if it manages to hit one of the tentacles, it will continue to drain life. Possibly not just from the tentacle either, but from the whole critter! And likely less dangerous to his allies than lightning, seeing as Jonathan is trying to get closer to the thing.
Reinhardt Wilhelm     "That would be useful!" Reinhardt answers Luna, knowing the last time he was around water like this. That raid on the Shimada family's port was enough reason for him to be wary of a repeat of that incident. It was a running joke among Overwatch for -years-

He grunts as he tries to swing his hammer at the tentacles coming at them, trying to cover Jonathan's blind spots. "Herr Joestar, watch it!" He warns the gentleman, before he moves to intercept a glob of ink coming their way, raising his shield.

With their luck, that stuff is going to burn like a -bitch-, hopefully the armor can survive that. Brigitte is gonna KILL him for this once they're done.
Maya Maya can do more than fight with magic she's a healer and she's arguably better putting people back together. She is seeing that Luna and Alexis could be in need of some help with her abilities. She'll leave the others deal with the tentacles for the moment. She's going to start focusing on healing her allies and given how spread out everyone is? Maya is going to have to ahem, be a bit more flashy than she normally is with it.

Maya starts to channel large amounts of Magic from herself, blue fire rages around her and there's a bit of a wind. With Dorian's help she's got the time to do this.

The magic builds and Maya fades visibly from view.

A silvery portal appears and out of it comes an angel, she's covered in strange tattoos as well there's oddly nothing indecent about it strangely her wings fan out for a moment and she looks over those fighting the beast and then the feathers rain down upon those fighting it and any bystanders nearly by would find a pink aura covers them as it hits and their wounds start to heal noticeably not fully but more than enough to help.

Whatever fragment of Kyra's power's Maya's summoned? Does not remain in this world long and Maya pops back into existence more or less the moment the Angel of love and healing vanishes from this Earth.
Princess Luna      Even with all her experience with monsters, Luna has never quite perfected the art of dodging. And so, after a slash with her scythe that severs a tentacle and leaves Luna off balance for a few moments...she lets out a startled yelp as a couple of those flailing tentacles wrap around her. One pins her arms to her sides and another wraps her around the knees. "Nnng!" She flaps her wings powerfully to try and resist the insistent tug of the strong sea creature, but even she has limits.

And being wrapped up means she is a sitting duck for those flying ink blots. Soon enough the pony princess is being pulled toward the waves. Fear isn't as apparent on her face as is embarrassment, though. She isn't supposed to end up needing help from others! She tries to swing her scythe, but her power and range is quite limited when tenta-wrapped. "R-release me, foul creature!" she exclaims while she struggles in the grip of the water titan.
Alexis The Missing Lynx lands on what remains of the ship they were chasing the tentacles off of. "Has anyone actually spotted the main body yet?", Alexis askes over the radio. Only to have her Braixen prod her shoulder, then point towards where part of the head is glaring above the water with her stick-wand. ".. Oh."

Sounds like Jonathan is making a run for that though. Best they can do is keep the tentacles from reaching him before he reachs it.

But the mutant octo-whatever isn't going down easily, thrashing about and throwing up gushes of water as well as vortices of winds with it's monsterous movements. The ravaged ship rocks back and forth as it's getting beat by wind and wave alike. Alexis and her pokemon hunker down against the monster's backside, gripping his mane tightly to keep from being knocked off. Fortunately wind is Missing Lynx's secondary elemental affinity, part of what allows it to fly despite its tremendous size. Claws pull from the deck and massive wings spread to beat, the fact that it's flight is as much magical as it is physical allowing Clysm to at least heave himself off the failing ship despite the gunk and get back into the air, just as another tentacle slams down onto the ship and probably wrecking it for good. That was close.

"We need to take out more of those tentacles so he can get to the body." Alexis leans forward a bit farther to give a tug on the mane tuff in her hand. Maya's summoned healer helps take the edge off damage done by acidic ink and tentacle bashing at least. "Time to flambe this freak of the week big guy." With a growling response Clysm heaves himself farther upward despite the whirlwinds buzzing about from whipping tentacles. Smoke and small embers start to smolder out the sides of his massive maw.

o/~ It's above One Hundred Fareinheit. I, can't tell, if it's day or if its night. It's burning unbelievably bright! I'm blinded by this, flashing. o/~

Alexis tugs a little more to make sure his aim is angled at the largest cluster of tentacles as greater plumes of flame and heat ripples crackle around the monsters mouth. "Now..."

o/~ My lungs are failing, from inhaling, all the charcoal from the circle of all the hate and the lies. o/~

"... CREMATE!" Clysm opens his mouth wide as the supernatural fire erupts from it, sending a massive wave of insanely hot fire and heated air searing towards the monster.

o/~ Oh how dare you, it's unfair you, deny.. ignite.. and close your eyes.... o/~

The attack is aptly named, producing enough fiery heat that what doesn't directly strike the monsterous tentacles is going to start heating up the water around them to the point that it's going to start steaming and boiling, likely being just as uncomfortable for the lengths still beneath the water.

o/~ You'd think by now, that I woulda learned not to play with fire if I don't wanna get burned. But I'm a pyromaniac, and your veins are full of gas... Burning higher, higher! I'm storming this wildfire! o/~
Jonathan Joestar Jonathan successfully clears the distance! "Don't worry about me," he calls back to Reinhardt. The black, burning ink meets Dorian's barrier, promptly nullifying it in an instant. But taking that blow was all Jonathan needed from it, stowing his makeshift weapon inside of his suspenders as he flexed his muscles, diving dramatically down into the ocean. The ripples, quite understandably, ceased to be emitted by his feet.

The sensation of breathing under-water was..well, it was strange. He just couldn't get used to it, but none the less, he was thankful. It'd be near impossible to execute this by himself, it was only thank to Princess Luna's assistance that he'd be able to assail the enemy from this vantage point. Jonathan's eyes, however, widened. The seawater stung, but he could not shut them.

It was only down here that he could see just how truly massive the creature was. But, once again..

This is no time for gawking!

Jonathan swam to try and get around to the Kraken's side, drawing his fist back. "Koooooooooooh...."

        His chest expanded.

The golden light around his body shifted in tone, quickly becoming a bright shade of blue. Every muscle in his body seemed to tense as water swirled and whirled, conducting his Sendo magnificently and forming around his fist. Water did not simply conduct the energy of Hamon but rather, it amplified it multiplicatively. When he'd used this technique on Bruford, it'd nearly killed the undead knight without ever having even touched him, and while this creature was not weak to the energy of life and light, Jonathan none the less had faith that when powered up through the ocean, it'd be enough to severely injure it.

His entire body was emitting ripples and, his arm, was bathed in a strange blue substance, as if the joining of Hamon and Water had created something akin to Plasma.

        "TURQOUISE BLUE OVERDRIIIIIIIIIVE!"

Jonathan's fist shoots forward and attempts to strike the Kraken's hide. Just the act of punching, the motion, caused an eruption --a blast of energy that was no dilluted by the sea, but rather, empowered by it. If this were used on a human, it could probably melt their body the same as a vampire, so with a giant squid, it should surely pack a whallop! That's what Jonathan was counting on.
Dr. Vahzilok     Necromantic magic starts sapping away at the octopus's flesh, Luna forces her way free of her restrains and leaves tentacles falling in pieces to the waters below, Alexis's companion, Clysm, boils the water that the giant octopus is in. Reinhardt keeps Dorian and himself safe from the toxic ink with his shield, and Jonathan makes for his target! ...And directly into rotting, boiling water. But any injury he suffers in the process is immediately healed, as is all injuries suffered by the rest of the heroes, as Maya's summon rains down restorative magic on all of them, mending their wounds.

And so, revitalized with life and able to breathe just fine underwater, Jonathan Joestar's hamon should be at full strength as he unleashes his energy blast into the encephalopod's maw.

The impact is so tremendous that the huge creature actually lurches upwards about a dozen feet, pushing more of its body above the water level, as water geysers into a tower all around it.

A dozen feet may not seem like much, but given how huge and heavy it is, to move its entire body so violently is actually a considerably superhuman feet.

It is not the movement, however, that is so devastating. The internal damage wrought causes the giant octopus to immediately decide this is not worth it and release a huge cloud of ink into the water, blackening it completely as it sinks, wounded and flailing in defense rather than offense, under the surface. It may have regenerative abilities of some kind to help it recover at some distant future point, but it won't be snacking on any innocent bystanders this day, or any time soon. Between the loss of most of its limbs, severe burns, scalded flesh, weakened muscles from electrical discharges, blunt trauma, and now internal damage, probably the only reason it's still alive beyond its enormous mass and resilience is its lack of a skeleton or similar hardened structures that could have broken and made its situation worse.

That very flexibility is also probably what has kept the coast guard from finding it so far, since it can probably find a place to squeeze into that animals with skeletons couldn't.

But that is all a concern for the future. Right here, and right now, the heroes have not only proven to all of Paragon City that they can beat this behemoth if it ever appears again, but that there are champions who will fight to protect the dockworkers and all other defenseless folk. And that's the kind of message that can get people back to working and living as normal, without fear.
Dorian Pavus     Reinhardt's blocking of the ink blobs gets a nod. "Thank you!" he calls out to the more heavily-armored man. And there is suddenly an angel in the sky, casting healing feathers and pink auras around to heal. Dorian's not hurt too badly, but getting thwacked in the everything by a tentacle didn't feel too great. He's a bit too far away from her to call out thanks, but he offers a salute in Maya's direction.

Then suddenly it seems that Luna's in serious trouble. He scowls. "''Kaffas''," he hisses, practically under his breath. He gets a sudden idea, and hopes it's enough. The air around the staff he carries starts to drop in temperature, until tiny flakes of snow begin to fall from around it. He thumps the bottom end of the staff against the deck, and there's a small frosted spot where the staff thumped.

But out there, in the water -- specifically around the tentacles that are trying to carry Luna away, the ocean freezes near-instantly. There's nothing to freeze it TO, except the tentacles themselves, so moving shouldn't actually be impeded too much. But the buoyancy of the very large iceberg that should hopefully now be attached to the tentacles that have the night princess captive should make pulling her under all but impossible.

It's a quick fix, but hopefully it'll buy enough time for someone who can get out there to help her. Dorian can't make it; he might be able to get there with Fade Step, but he can't carry people with him, so he couldn't pull her out of the way.

Jonathan's blue swirling power underwater is impossible to miss. And Dorian has to pause a moment, not quite able to believe that someone could summon up THAT much power without using magic. But nonetheless, there it is. And it's the perfect opportunity to trigger his last, too.

He times it exactly, so that Jonathan's own power will create a buffer zone around himself, to protect him from Dorian's magic. As the Turquoise Blue Overdrive strikes the Kraken, the last of Dorian's necrotic magic clinging to the Kraken will also detonate. Life and Anti-Life. That's gonna hurt...

And so it seems that it HAS injured the creature, quite a bit. Enough to drive it off, at least. Perhaps 'at last'. Either way, it's gone. Not dead, but gone. Next time they'll know where to hit it. Then again, so will IT know where to hit THEM. Presuming the same people answer the call.

Right now though, Dorian's making a quick check for allies, to make sure they're all present and accounted for. Particularly those who ended up in the water.
Reinhardt Wilhelm     Boop, boop, boop. Reinhardt nods to Dorian just before he notices any damage the party had sustained evaporate instantly. He looks into the water, before he gapes at the display of Jonathan's power. If THAT is the Hamon, he's gonna have to take Jonathan more seriously.

Hopefully Jonno doesn't run out of air while he's down there, he's been underwater for an awfully long time, long enough Reinhardt begins to grab a life preserver and toss it out, calling out "MISTER JOESTAR!" loudly. Can people even hear from underwater? Hard to tell.
Alexis "Holy shit, he just -punched- a kaiju into submission." A pause, and then Alexis cracks a gleeful grin. "I think I like this guy."

But there will be time for admiring Jonathan's ability to put an Iron Fist Hitmonchan to shame with his prowess in punching later. "Let's clean up some of this mess." With a grunt in agreement Clysm turns and glides back to the wreck of the ship the octopus was trying to tear apart. Grabs the biggest piece he can hook his claws and teeth on, and flap his wings to push it back to the docks proper before it sinks entirely and causes problems for other ships. They can still strip it down for parts and materials to recycle even if it won't be sailing again.

Alexis waves in Dorian's direction to let him see they're okay.
Jonathan Joestar It hit dead on -- and the results were not disappointing in the least!

Jonathan was pushed back by the movement of the giant sea-creature, tumbling through the water as it recoiled from the sheer power that pulverized it. The deep blue water that had been broiling and searing his skin as he'd initially dove down had become cool and gentle, barely lukewarm. He was thankful for the strange healing miracle that befell him, though he didn't know where it came from, he could only assume it was magic. By the time the ink was spooling out into the water, he was already on his way to the surface, breaching it easily, his black hair matting itself to his face as he swam closer to the boat.

A cursory glance revealed that no one was seriously injured.

        "Ah, thank you!"

Grasping onto the life-preserver, Jonathan takes up Reinhardt's assistance to return aboard. The ink unfortunately seems to have ruined most of his once-white button up, which now clung tightly to his body, stained like a kind of black satin. The metal rod that had been stored in his suspenders seems to have been lost during his time in the water. "I'm glad everybody seems to be no worse for wear, that was a rather daunting foe...a Kraken of legend."
Maya Maya is taken a bit off guard by the Nerromatic magic but she says nothing on it thankfully it looks like she was able to keep everyone up through all this madness and she's grinning faintly now for a moment, still in her quite local flavored costume. She takes a moment to look around to make sure everyone else is all right and she now looks to see then wonders where the heck is Joestar?! Oh hell with that she's going to try and get help but someone's already on it.

"You seem to be all right and ... ya that really was a Kraken. Your was nothing to sneeze at with what you were able to pull off. Is that some kind of martial arts if i might ask? Also come one lets you something dry to get into and something to eat."

She pauses for a moment taps hair clip she has there's a bright flash of light and there's a flat out henshin sequence as her outfit changes into something more akin to mad max, a mix of leather and armour.
Princess Luna      Luna is freed by Joestar's massive attack power. And sufficiently awed. Despite being an alicorn princess she has never seen anyone punch a monstrous giant octopus into the air. The amazed alicorn almost falls into the water because she forgets to flap her wings, and only recovers when a hoof touches the water. She blinks, then quickly rises back into the air and watches as the creature makes its escape. She lets out a sigh of relief, then starts toward the boat. "Thou art incredible! Even my sister or Big Macintosh have not accomlished such a magnificent feat of strength! Dost thou realize thou hast just hit a gigantic monster so solidly that said monster was forced out of the water? I would not have guessed that such strength coul reside within a relatively normal-looking human!" she gushes as she flies alongside the boat.

Once back on shore, Luna looks around at the workers and heroes gathered, then smiles. "Well, that should ensure that this particular creature does not bother these docks for quite a while." she says before looking around. "Thou art all quite impressive. I would be honored to fight alongside any of thee again."
Dorian Pavus     There's Reinhardt. And Dorian nods wordlessly to the larger man's display of shock. "You took the words right out of my mouth," he agrees, with Reinhardt's unspoken assessment. "Remind me not to get on his bad side." He pauses to assess Reinhardt's condition; he seems to be doing well.

His gaze moves, to locate the others. There's Alexis there in the air! Dorian raises his arm to wave back at her. He'll also assist Jonathan back on the boat, frowning a little at the state of his clothes. "I hope you have a spare set of clothes," he notes. Of course he's looking for injuries. That's literally the only reason he's staring.

Actually no it isn't BUT ANYWAY!

Maya also seems to be reasonably all right, given she has the energy to henshin. Or de-henshin, whichever way that works. And Luna appears to be all right too, as she's returned to the group now, after being released by the sea monster. And finally Dorian breathes a sigh of relief. "Well. That's that," he decides. And yes, he does finally pull the hood of his robe back to show his face properly. "And everyone seems to be reasonably not-dead as well." He smirks.
Jonathan Joestar Jonathan smiles, pushing his hair out of his face. "I..didn't bring any with me, no. I wasn't quite intending on staying over long.."

Dorian's quote unquote 'injury search' turns up the observation that Jonathan evidently did not build his body lazily. On a more serious level, any of his injuries that might not have been covered by the healing properties of Maya's magic, had assuredly vanished as a side effect of his Hamon. Jonathan was in tip-top health.

His cheeks and ears seemed to redden in embarassment from the compliments and gushing.

"Ah..t-thank you very much. But really, it wasn't anything truly amazing. I could only accomplish such a feat because you gave me the ability to breathe underwater, where my Hamon would be at its strongest."

"And, yes, Hamon is a martial art from Tibet. It allows me to generate a form of energy in my blood through a specific method of breathing."
