Lapis Lazuli It was a beautiful, wonderful, spec-- It was awful. The people who had pretty much been kicked out of their home were not going to higher ground. Why?

That castle of ice? It was spreading. Slowly. The bay that had once held all those fishing ships was now drained and empty, with the water coming from the ocean to refill it and prompty being sucked up into the castle in a long funnel, hundreds, possibly thousands of gallons every few minutes. In a few weeks, who knew what would happen?

The castle had once been small. Now it towered up into the heavens and the clouds, with massive pillars of ice and great walls. The ice itself was incredibly strong, perhaps not of steel levels, but it was able to recover itself if damaged. A single great door stood on the entrance of the fortress, closed and bared.

Emanating from the castle was that cursed, haunted melody. If there were words, they were indecipherable. But there was definitely some kind of tune, echoing through the empty, frozen halls...

Or perhaps not so empty.
Staren     Ice castles and water monsters? Something is up. Staren prepares for the join mission by constructing some... special... 'weapons'.

And then on arrival he finds out that the castle is in a freaking bay and no matter how much water he renders unusable there will be plenty more. Damn it!

The power-armored catboy looks at the great doors and the others arriving. "...So. We're gonna climb up to the top or something rather than go in the way they want, right? I mean, this is obviously a trap."
Athela Valemore At any other time a castle of solid ice might actually be whimsical. But the fact that it was sucking up the ocean water, denying the village both it's peacefulness and it's primary source of economy could not be ignored, beauty or not.

At Staren's question Athela just shrugs her shoulders a little. "Sometimes the direct route is the most effective, trap or not."
Princess Luna      Ice castles are an unusual thing, especially sturdy ice castles that seem to be growing of their own accord. The strange funnel of water though...that seems somewhat familiar to Princess Luna as she circles around it on her majestic wings. It seems more like a fortress than a castle, and as there seems to be no way in other than the barred door, Princess Luna glides down and lands, then approaches it. "I did not see another entrance. But, thou art welcome to explore for thyself." she says to Staren before her horn starts to glow a pale blue. "Please, stand back. I shall attempt to break the seal." she says, then fires a beam of the same pale blue. It impacts like a battering ram, attempting to either smash the door apart, or at least break whatever is locking it.
Kung Jin A bay dried up because all the water froze into this weird ice castle? This is just the sort of thing that a newly unified Special Forces candidate would be sent to investigate. Thusly, here is Kung Jin, sent by the Special Forces of Earthrealm, to figure out what the hell is going on.

He's there when the group starts to gather, to try to figure out a way in. His clothes look archaic, and the only real sign of profession may be the quiver on his back. But he's not carrying any bow, at least not visibly.

As for getting in? "Could just go in through a wall," he suggests. "Doubt they'd expect somebody to just 'knock-knock suckers' and blow a hole in the wall."
Maya Maya could see that it was pretty, but it also sees a number of people have been outed somehow from thir homes. She seems concerned as she's followed by a hulking robot which seems rather dog like. She's got a surival cloak on and her face covered. Though on the back of the cloak one can see the paladins logo as she nears the entrance and she also hears the song. "Song? Curious."

She looks to Staren and nods a little bit.

"Likely so my old friend and sometimes you need to spring the trap anyway."

Maya will start head in intending to take point here.

"Staren good to have you along."

She looks to Luna nods and steps back she was just going to brute force it but if someone better skilled can she'll just hold back.

"Make your own door? Sound like a friend of mine, I like that mode of thinking. They can't set an ambush for you as easily."
Lapis Lazuli Oh, the battering ram did something alright. It made the door explode inwards, allowing the gentle, despairing tune to break free from the inside. And, for a moment, nothing happened.

Then the door melted, forming large puddles of water. Within moments, the walls began to melt. They slowly reformed into giant golems, each about ten feet tall and made of water. They held out their hands and swords appeared in their hands.

Those who had met Rose Quartz might recognize the swords as being extremely similar to hers.

The golems then surged forward, one for each of them, blades slashing out.

... One for each of them... except... Luna. Across from the door they just broke down, they might see a great eye-like mirror suspended up against the wall. As if it was watching them. And if they came inside the walls themselves would come alive with small, water like scorpions with stingers and claws of ice, surging after and pinching at them. Except, again, all but Luna.
Staren     And there are the expected water golems! Well... Staren bothered to make some special munitions, so he may as well TRY them. He pulls something that looks like a rifle with an oversized barrel off his back, standing back, taking aim, and firing -- turns out it ejects missiles loaded with modified anti-tank rounds, to airburst in front of water elementals and project a lance of incredibly high-temperature molten salt into them. Molten salt, so desperate to dissolve and spread through the water, yet so hot as to flash-boil water on contact. This should be an explosive experiment at least, even if the castle's master can just form more golems after.
Kung Jin There are a lot of strange beings here, Luna being one of the oddest Kung Jin has seen yet. For a moment, he looks between his allies here, committing them to memory. This is going to be a hell of a report. General Blade might not even believe him. But then there comes some trouble, and he's forced out of considering his unlikely allies for now.

Jin's mouth twists into a sarcastic expression at the formation of the golems from the walls. "Yeah. Didn't figure this was gonna be easy. Never is," he grumbles. A bluish smoke surrounds his right hand, and in a moment he's holding a deeply-curved staff with a roaring Asian-style dragon at the top. In the dragon's mouth is a large green orb of some kind.

But he's not waiting for the things to get closer. The dragon shaped head at the end of that staff glows bright red, and a bright white fireball about the size of a human's head explodes from the staff's open mouth. He didn't figure an arrow would have been of to terribly much use here, since these golems are made of water. But if the fireball that the staff spat is white, it's probably pretty darn hot. Should boil away a good chunk, with any luck.
Maya Maya takes a muoment to pull out a pair of cards, they flare up with blue glamr and Maya moves to ward her allies of the day from damage, it's not perfec but the spell should give them some protection against damage lessening the damage they take. It's a precaution and those who don't want it she won't cast it. Then they move on as the battering ram as made thir way in. She pauses for a moment as she looks at ice golems meet them and maya cracks her knuckles.

"LEt's get to it shall we? Runer sick em!"

The Huge mecha mutt barrels head and Maya pulls a rifle.

The barrel doesn't fire bullets nay, it fires several cainsters of Napalm...at the Ice Golems. She does keep watch of where her allies are though with it.
Athela Valemore Athela Valemore lets out a faint whistle as Luna bashes open the door with one shot of magic. "Well, that be one way of knocking." She grabs the hilt of her weapon and draws it, settling into a ready stance. "And certainly will get the occupants' attention as well."

Sure enough, there come the water golems that were mentioned. As she grips Resolute Blade with both hands it starts to shimmer like starlight reflecting off the ocean as she leaps to the side of the golem's charge and swinging sword. "Tch. Did not even give me time to issue a proper challenge. Have at ye!" Armored boots crunch against the ground as she shifts her stance and launchs herself forward, aiming to lance her weapon into the water golem.

Sure, stabbing water probably is not the most effective tactic at first... Until one realizes what Athela is actually doing is channeling her own aquakinetic ability through the blade and trying to drain the elemental energy out of the golem to weaken it.
Princess Luna      Princess Luna is forced to consider if that particular sort of 'knocking' was the best choice as golems form and attack. She holds up a hand quickly and in a flash of blue-white she is holding an intricately designed scythe as tall as she is. She gives it a twirl before waiting for one to come after her.

But...nothing does. And it worries Luna greatly...because she knows of only one person who can control water and would perhaps be disinclined to hurt Luna. "I do not believe fighting the water creatures will give us any advantage! We should make our way inside quickly!" she calls out to the others even as she leaps into battle with the nearest golem. But, before she actually swings she realizes...none came after her!

Luna's horn starts glowing again, but this time it casts a soft beam of pale blue light at each member of the party, attempting to project the illusion that all are Luna. She is hoping that if none would attack her, they will also stop attacking others that look like her.
Lapis Lazuli The golems are EXPLODED! Vaporized, sent flying, water soaring through the air as they vaporize and evaporate them.

Only for a few moments later, more water to leak from the castle and meld with what remained, reforming new golems to attack. The explosions definitely affected them, but there was enough water here to fill a lake a dozen times over, at least. Enough to make a hundred thousand of those golems.

And then... they froze. All of a sudden, they were all Luna. With a loud sploop sound, the golems melted to water, flowing back to the castle. Water came down in a waterfall, reforming a new door. Then, after a few moments, the door opened.... beckoning them inside.

It was cold. It was bloody cold. Like it had to be a few degrees below freezing inside. And the walls, floor and ceiling were all solid ice.

But the strangest thing... were the statues.

Statues of Luna, Steven, Rose Quartz, Peridot, Pearl. In different poses, sometimes armed, sometimes not.
Staren     Boom! Staren smiles. And then... no longer focused on the experiment he wanted to try, as he looks around at the golems he notices none is going for Luna. He reaches a similar conclusion.

The behavior after an illusion goes up that makes EVERYONE look like Luna confirms it.

Staren facepalms, and walks into the castle, looking around. The statues make sense too. "What are you /doing/? I let you into my ship because... because someone convinced me that friendship can change people! And now you're taking away people's livelihood and fighting them when they try to protect themselves, for what?" He waves a hand at the statues. "A freaking /art installation/?"

Staren points at the mirror-eye. "If you have anything you want to /achieve/ here, you could ASK people for help, you know! Even if it's just to make art, there's places you could do it where noone will be harmed! Can't you work with us?"

Also, he suspects that even aside from any concern for Lapis's future or well-being, he could not easily fix things for the locals with brute force. Diplomacy should be a much easier path.

On the other hand, it's now VERY CLEAR who this particular illusion of Luna is, and it's not Luna.
Princess Luna      Princess Luna is somewhat surprised that it actually worked. But now, she has to maintain the illusion until they find whoever is responsible.

And she is even more certain after seeing the statues. "I...belive I know whom it is that we shall find inside this castle." she says to the others as they start inside. Luna leads the way, looking about as they go. "Please, stay close. If we lose sight of each other, the illusions may fail." she warns them as they walk inside. Luna's hooves make a very audible clopping sound against the ice of the castle floor. "...what has happened that has caused her to create this place...?" Luna murmurs to herself as they walk through the main hall. She recognizes Steven and Pearl - and herself of course - but Rose and Peridot are unfamiliar. Still, these seem to be statues of their mystery host's friends. Is she simply lonely?
Athela Valemore Athela Valemore is all poised and ready to do the same to the new golems as she did the first to attack her... when they all retreat into the castle and a new door forms, only to open for them. She partially lowers her weapon, expecting this to be another trick. But nothing else happens and nothing sets off her divine senses of another threat. "... Okay, I hath not a clue what just happened. But let us not look a gift horse in the--"

Stops as she recalls Luna being near by. Ahem. Would not want to insult royalty after all. "--Nevermind. Let us continue forth."

Inside the ice fort is as spectacular, in an entirely different way. And things start to click together, to which she slaps a gauntlet to her face briefly. "I should of surmised as much..." How did she not think of that connection sooner? Such intricate water manipulation was rare, even stronger than her own.
Kung Jin Kung Jin noticed that -- none of these things were trying to attack Luna. Which of course instantly made him suspicious. And then suddenly she's doing... something at him! "Hey, what are you doing?" he asks, stepping back. Though, as the golems seem to stop their attack, he quiets his objections. Hopefully she didn't just pain him pink or something.

But as they go in, Staren starts... well, lecturing. Assuming Staren knows what's going on, Kung Jin stays quiet for the time being. He doesn't know any of the people depicted in the statues. But he's definitely taking notes. And maybe a few pictures. Digital cameras aren't that hard to get. Though it might look weird, a guy dressed like a Shaolin monk using a camera.
Maya Maya lowers her rifle and calls off Runner at this point, she's delt with the golemt for the moment she notices the water forming into a new door asking them inside and she now looks at the various statues for a moment she knows several of the people featured enough to get some idea of what's going on. She has her weapon back over her back and RUnner's turned off his own the ollusions hopefully will hold as as direct as Maya gets? She doesn't like fighting.

"You know them STaren?"

shew pauses for a moment.

"Look I'd rather talk than fight if that's all right with you."
Lapis Lazuli There is no answer, only silence. But they can walk and, more and more, it becomes apparent that someone they may know is behind all this.

Except... something is definitely off. The song continues to echo through the chambers, as one by one they walk through the halls.

The door closed behind them, making the room dark and foreboding. But no more attacks.

Then SCHLUP! A blade of ice, at neck level, shoots out.

It tried to behead Staren. That wasn't a warning shot. That wasn't a 'stay back' attack.

That was a full blown attempt at murder. Or, well, gem murder. It was possible she thought he'd just pop. But...

Tendrils of water then lanced out from the walls and bind them up, dragging them to it. While the luna in the front, tendrils shot from down the hall and attempted to grab her and then drag her into the dark, gloomy halls.
Princess Luna      Despite being the princess of nighttime, Luna is never expecting it when tendrils leap out at her. She slashes with her scythe out of reflex, but other than that one tendril the others would have a pretty easy time snagging the tall alicorn princess. Between the tentacles and the attempt on Staren's life, Princess Luna is getting pretty upset. "Nnng! Lapis! Stop this! I do not know what has happened to thee, but this must end!" Luna tries to maintain the illusions on the others, but as soon as they are dragged far enough apart the illusion pops and each is once again revealed for who he or she is.

Princess Luna growls lightly as the spell is broken, then turns her attention to her bonds. She aims her horn at each one in turn, trying to sever them with a beam of energy, even as she steadily disappears into the darkness!
Kung Jin Kung Jin's first instinct when he hears something being fired from somewhere, is to shoot an arrow at it. But this isn't just any arrow. It's an explosive arrow. Not enough of an explosion to damage anything, certainly -- it's a small enough blast of flame that explodes from the arrow on contact that it wouldn't kill a reasonably tough human being. But it's one of these arrows that he fires at the sword, turning to see where it came from.

Though it's because of this that he doesn't see the tendrils making for Luna -- or himself! -- until his ankle's grabbed. "What the...?!" He quite literally fires at the tendrils, the dragon head belching flames when it can, to try to get the tendrils to leave him be. He's just trying to get some breathing room, though. Why? So he can ready an arrow.

But he fires it not at the tendrils, but at the walls they're coming out of. It's not just any arrow, either. This one leaves a blue contrail. It's not because it's ice or water powered, no. The arrow is charged with what basically amounts to a mana drain ability! And it's not the only one, either. He fires them at the places the tendrils are coming out of anytime he can get enough breathing room.

Jin won't absorb the mana drained, no. But hopefully enough ot those arrows will leech enough energy out of these walls to make it prohibitively expensive mana-wise to keep using the tendrils.
Athela Valemore Athela Valemore's brow only furrows farther. "I get the distinct feeling if it is who we think, she is not in a talkative mood this ni--"

And then there's the nudge in the back of her mind again.

Almost as if instinct Athela jukes to the side as a watery tendril lashes out of the wall. "She did not seem this hostile before!" Several more tendrils erupt to grab onto the young knight. Their unnatural nature make her ability of free movement in water a bit less effective, but Athela still manages to break an arm free and use it to impale her sword into the ground and give herself an anchor to keep from being pulled into the wall. "Slurry, I need thee help!"

The hood of her cloak rumples briefly as a lump moves under it, and the small pink slug plops out onto her shoulder. "Goo?" Pupiless eyes blink at the water tendrils, and the it burbles in what might be anger, if it didn't sound somewhat childish and cute. "Goomy!" A spray of viscious slime spews from its mouth, coating the tendrils in enough gunk to make them more solid, and theoretically breakable.
Staren     A blade of ice shoots out of the wall. Staren's forcefield flashes into visibility, the sword chinking a little piece out of it and causing a spider web of cracks to spread over the surface of the amber sphere. Staren is pushed back, and then the field fades. And then... tendrils! Staren tries electrifying his armor, but who knows what that will do??? He sends a mental command for help. His war machine is on its way...

And he tries to activate his wings and pull against the tendrils. If it's enough to break free, he'll start trying to blow the door with a variety of explosives from his bag. "New theory! She's been corrupted or is being controlled, and it's all she can do not to attack /you/!" He probably means Luna.
Maya Maya gets only silence she watches as the attack comes for Staren and she frowns. Maya knows what she can do, she may have to cut lose if it comes down to it but she doesn't just yet. No she'll let the others whom are better at talking. She keeps ready thougha s the tendoirs come Maya starts to move after them as she seeks to shoot a beam from the underside of her rifle to cut through the tentdrils of water. Though in the back of her mind she fears what someone who could control water like this could do.
Lapis Lazuli Poor Luna would discover that, the farther she went, the more ice that lanced out and wrapped around her,, tendrils of water enveloping her and then spreading over her body, finally encasing her in an orb of water, attempting to close around her and finally freeze her horn as it hauled her through the castle, walls and roofs turning to water so she could pass through harmlessly, then freezing up a moment later.

The tendrils recoil from Kung's attack, splashing to the ground and releasing him.

The one Athela attacks hardens and cracks, before crumbling to the ground. The door explodes from Staren's assault, giving them a way out... and then BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Doors throughout the hall slam shut and... intercrossing spiked poles suddenly come from the roof and walls, intending to impale ALL OF THEM!

This isn't just a 'get out' attack. This is a attempting to shish ka bob and murder all of them. If Staren hadn't just given them a convenient quick escape...
Staren     Spiked poles shatter and crack the first layer of forcefield. If they keep pressing, the cracks spread and deepen ominously through the next layer. "Alright, everybody out, time for plan B!" He's firing the beam cannons and more explosives just... at the castle in general, to busy it with repairing itself as he runs for the door!
Kung Jin Kung Jin isn't waiting to be told twice. He's tough, but ice spikes trying to impale him is a little more than even he can deal with. The tendrils have released him so his movement is freed up, he's agile enough to make a parkourist envious, and can use that staff to vault over things. So he does just that, making a run for the first space that looks like he could conceivably fit through. Though not before he sends a loast mana-drain arrow in the direction Luna was being dragged towards. Just to show that 'retreat' and 'surrender' are two very different things.
Athela Valemore "We must rescue the Princess! ... And I am not just saying that because I am a knight." Water swirls out behind her like a wave as Athela directs her own aquakinetic ability backwards, launching herself forward and using her sword to smash through any of the icicles trying to spike them with the speed boost. Good thing Staren made an way out for them to aim through. Goomy squashes down in her hood again, not wanting to get ice-kabobed either. People forget he's a Dragon and vulnerable to extreme cold!
Maya Maya says "I agree we can't leave her, I could shake the foundations but I don't think that's a good idea." Maya notes for a moment, She loosk ahad and then moves after the ICicles and she starts to cast fire, pillars of flames will meet the ice formations as she starts moving to avoid gtting impaled. Runner meanwhile attemps to barrel ahead trying to trust in it's mass to get through this could be a very dumb idea for hte mecha dog.
Princess Luna      Luna finds herself in trouble! There is too much water and ice to deal with! She can only beam attack so much at once! "Nnng! Gyaah! Aaaaaah!" Luna's diminishing cries echo through the castle as she is quickly dragged away and engulfed in water. It certainly makes casting spells harder, and once her head is immobilized she is pretty much done. Her wings flap futilely before she is ensconced by water bubble.

With her horn frozen and her body encased in a imprisoning bubble, Luna is suddenly quite at the mercy of Lapis. If that is actually who is behind all of this. Luna isn't so sure anymore.
Lapis Lazuli Once they are outside, the entire front wall of the castle begins to roar, water cascading down it like a waterfall, flowing forward in an attempt to wash them away. Which would be bad enough.

Except there were chunks of ice the size of cars in this waterfall. So it was both an attempt to throw them away and kill them at the same time. The golems had been bad, this this was actual full destructive assault. There was no mercy, no compassion. Just an attempt to destroy.

But hey, maya and the dog should be okay.... except when the dog suddenly found the floor giving way underneath it, turning to water and then freezing instantly, trying to bind it before spikes of ice would strike out to try and lance through the poor machine.

Luna would be dragged likely for what felt like hours and then....

Pop. She'd be thrown out of the bubble, and onto a platform. She was in a massive chamber, with a roof of ice where sun could flow through. There was a big fountain, with a statue made up of all of Lapis' friends in the center. And sitting by it, her feet in the water, was Lapis.

Except... something was definitely wrong. She was staring at Luna, but her body was different. Darker. Her once blue hair was almost black and almost hid her eyes. Her clothing seemed drab and empty, like something worn at a funeral. She gave the smallest of smiles. Luna could hear the song now and... it was worse, here. Echoing through the castle it sounded like a beautiful, but somber tune.

So close to the source, it sounded like the wailing and screaming of pain. A sound that was pure inhuman. She turned to her and the song ended, the words echoing through the castle for moments before the silence fell.

"Hello Luna." Her body seemed to flicker for a moment. "I knew I -bzzt- could protect you. Do not -bzzt- worry I will -bzzt- remove them soon." Her movements were strange. it was as if she flickered in and out for a second, her body disappearing for a moment, then reappearing and completing the movement at an accelerated pace. As if she was a video that kept lagging and then rushing forward to catch up.
Staren     Staren can fly. (Best magitech item!) He can try to carry one person, maybe. Firing his beam cannon down to break ice spikes.

Once they're to shore, he waits. After a time, the Star Hawk finally arrives. Now Staren has big guns too. <"Luna! If you can respond, keep transmittin g a signal, even silence! I'll try to find you!">
Kung Jin That waterfall of icy water is bad. He can't outrun that. But those giant ice blocks the size of cars? You know, the ones that are supposed to kill them? They provide Jin exactly the springboard he needs to NOT die. Maybe he can't outrun it. But he CAN rely on his superior agility to jump from ice block to ice block.

Once he's reasonably safe, he sighs. "Any other bright ideas?" he asks.
Athela Valemore "... This is not how I had hoped to get water back into the bay." Athela mutters at the waterfall, even as she's retrieving a pokejewel from within her cloak. Her Samurott is recalled from the magic gem, just in time for her to grab on as the fall of water and ice cascades down.

Moments later they come up to the surface of the water. "We need to put an end to this." Lancer lowered his head as he lunged forward, smashing through one of the chunks with the blade on his helmet like an icebreaker ship. Both knight and pokemon are use to rough waters and have little trouble keeping afloat on the torrent pouring off the fortress, though having to smash away ice floats is a bit annoying. "We need to find that tube that's sucking the water up from the bay. Cut off the source."

Athela crouchs down as Samurott leaps from the water briefly to dive in, trying to get deeper despite the surging flow to search for the funnel.
Princess Luna      Princess Luna is coughing for breath when she is released from that bubble. She lands on her hands and knees, dripping wet and shivering a bit now from the cold. "Nnng...L-lapis...what is..." Luna looks around, then blinks as she sees what Lapis looks like and what is happening to her. "...Lapis, what has happened to thee? Art thou sick? Please..." She coughs a bit more, then stands slowly, arms hugged about herself to try and fight off some of the cold. "Thou art obviously sick or hurt. The others are my allies, and the people beyond are innocent. We have discussed such things. Thou ought to know better than to use thy magnificent powers in such ways."

The pony princess probably produces a pathetic pose herself with her mane and tail matted down from the water (even though they seem to be clouds most of the time), her dress drenched, and her shivering. "Please, release all of this water and return with me to my castle or to Steven's abode." she says, holding out a hand to Lapis. Luna's eyes and ears flick as she hears Staren, and she keeps her comm channel open, letting them hear the conversation as well.
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli blinked a few times and stared at her. "I... I am not -bzzt- sick. I only wish to protect -bzzt- you. To protect all those close to -bzzt- me. You, steven, Pearl... all of you." She turned around and Luna would see it.

Lapis' gem on her back. It was there... except six black, carapice covered legs with little red dots on them were wrapped tightly around it, with some weird pointed tail coming up from the bottom. "I just... want to protect you..." she said softly. Then she raised her head. "And I will protect you. I will protect all of you. Weather -bzzt- you like it or not." The water under Luna suddenly shot up once again, encasing her once more into the blob. Then she lifted her hand.

Down below, they could see the pillar of water crumbling as the castle began to swirl around and...

Oh no. There was enough water in there to launch a dozen tsunami's. And it was melting quickly to form a massive funnel of water.

She then reached up towards her own coms, moments before a loud static filled it, then she spoke.
Kung Jin ....Yeeeeeah. This is more than one agent alone is going to be able to handle. Besides, it sounded like there were some fairly personal things going on here, ones Jin isn't privy to. His presence here is probably hurting things more than helping.

So instead he gets on the radio. Not to the rest of the Multiverse. To the Special Forces. "Yeah, this is a situation I can't do anything about. Have evac get here ASAP; there's a fishing village that looks like it's about to get crushed, and these people might need to be evacuated out of here."

As he speaks, he's going into retreat. Not completely, just to wait for the evac. He'll start making arrangements to try to evacuate people, even only temporarily, while whatever personal thing happens unfolds in the background.
Athela Valemore ... She thinks THEY were threatening HER? What does that... Athela scowls. All the questions as to why Lapris was acting like this was going to have to wait. They can't stop what's about to come, Athela's Tide Caller abilities were nowhere near the potency of the aquakinetics behind the literal rising storm.

But they might be able to diffuse it some, and give that evac time to do it's job.

Athela instructs her valiant pokemon to get close to the ground beneath where the water is building. With the various steel clad parts of his body and her own divine sword the two try to cut as many channels into the ground as they can to give the water places to go. It won't stop the nearby village being crushed, but it will hopefully help spread the torret of water out, so it can flow back into the ocean without turning into terrible forces upon other shores later.
Staren     Staren has some drones triangulate the signal, then points. "She's there." The mecha lowers a hand to raise him to the cockpit, though he's not started attacking /yet/...
Maya Maya has been silent for the last little bit, She's kept with the pray and now she sees the entire fort is coming sown on them and she's trying to be washed away and now it's time to get a bit more serious. Runner found the floor diving way and the robot dog would end up having a bad day he would end up getting impaled in some places and others the ice breaks on it's armoured hide. Maya on the other hand has had enough.

She gets though it but Runner's out of commission his whining can be heard over the sounds of the damaged. She doesn't like the option but what can she do either some wacky weather or have a full out super tidal wave.

A Pokemon Trainer? With mon who can help out? That is a fate send to Maya and this changes her plan a bit, she'll pull a fate card, out followed by several others.

She cast it won't last long but she can summon the Lord of Flames of her works a massive three headed snake that lives in the planets molten regions or so the old tales say. She can only hold him there for a moment but in that moment she can have him hopefully evaporate ta good deal of water if only to help buy time for the village and Athela's pokemon. Maya's not holding back any power on this there's blue flame burning about her body and she almost seems to go out of phase with reality for a moment.
Princess Luna      Princess Luna gives Lapis a confused look at those first few words to her, then...her eyes widen! "W-what is that, Lapis?" she asks before the water shoots up. Luna barely has time to get a message out to the others before she is swallowed up again. "Lapis is not well! Something has...contaminated her gem! I do not believe she is fully in control of herself! Ple-"

That is all she manages before she is once again locked into a water bubble. Horn frozen and body held, she can do nothing but watch and listen.
Lapis Lazuli Lapis Lazuli talked on her coms for a bit, looking panicked and frantic at times, her body flickering a bit. She then turned towards Luna, when the girl talked, before yelling. Ice formed and, with a snap, sliced through her coms.

Finally, she reached up and turned her own coms off.

But Staren's words echoed through her head as more and more of the castle of ice melted around them. The water swirled in a massive vortex, but not going out. Yet. She could wipe it out. All of them. Couldn't she?

"But I tried... couldn't. Why couldn't I? Am I too weak? Am I too... have to protect her. Have to protect myself." The legs on her gem seemed to be moving. Pinching the gem and she let out a low cry of pain, before shaking and falling to her knees. "Have to... have to escape. Have to... have to... can't..." She glanced back to luna and, slowly, got back to her knees and walked towards Luna. Her hand reached out to the orb of water. She put her hand against the water, her palm to it as the last of the castle fell apart and dark, black and blue wings sprouted from her back, the two surrounded. Lapis hovering in the air. Luna trapped inside a bubble of water and ice, a vortex of enough water to destroy small continents. Then...

"Run... away..."

And then simultaneously the best and worst thing happened. The vortex of water all moved. In fact, it shot out, all that water going in one direction.

The good news? All the water was going out into the ocean.

The bad news was that it crashed into it as Luna and Lapis were sent hurtling through the ocean. And all that water being shoved in like that suddenly, all those gallons of water being sent in at once... It would only be a matter of minutes before the momentum sending it further ran out.

And it came back.
Athela Valemore "... We shall have to deal with her highness and her abductor later." There was too many other lives at stake here to focus on those two. Athela grabbed her Gogoat, hoisting herself onto its back and spurring it into action. The most they can do at the moment was help with the evacing of civilians.
Staren     Well, that happened.

Honestly, Staren figured this would probably end in either a fight, or Lapis running away with Luna. Working out a rescue plan was something that would have to be done later. The only question was how much danger Lapis was going to place the surrounding civilians in... and now it's been answered.

Staren sighs. The Star Hawk transforms and flies off to the village to help carry people away, while Staren sets his ship's manufactory to churning out disaster relief supplies.

He doesn't think he could have done much better here. He simply never expected to have to deal with... /the ocean/.

When this is over, maybe he'll have to work out a way.
Lapis Lazuli A disaster. The good news was, the force and magic of Lapis' crash had delayed the inevitable, allowing them to call in aid and save countless lives.

But there was still so much damage, so many lives lost, homes destroyed, ships wrecked. Massive, unhindered destruction. On top of a kidnapped princess who was responsible for raising the moon for her people. And one of the multiverse' most powerful aquamancers MIA and apparently on the edge, corrupted or evil.

Still the group did what they could to relieve the damage and, when all was said and done, none could argue that they made things better.

But that left so many more questions. Where would Lapis strike next? What would happen if they didn't save Luna soon? What had happened? And how much destruction would occur before she was finished?
