Mairead Sandilands     The IS Battle Arena is setup with a few students here watching as the various IS' are training. Granted, there is not many as this is summer break for them and Mairead is the one waiting in the arena with her IS on. A voice comes over the speaker, the voice of Orimura-sensei. "Mairead, this is goign to be hard. These Golems are going to be harder and are unique compared to others. Also, safeties are off, so this will be live fire. When the Golems have been defeated or your IS is too damaged, will the match end."

Mairead blinks as she hears this, . o 0 (Live fire) and she looks at the Golems and closes her eyes and opens them. controlling her breathing, she gets ready and waits on summon weapons.
Touta Konoe Touta can't remember the last time he's been in the Battle Arena. Probably a few months. He's barely been in Mairead's Japan except for a brief occassion every now and again, and most of the time it wasn't really to check out the IS or anything of the sort. It was generally more casual meet-ups and the like. So to be in the stands watching Mairead is pretty exciting. As the golems appear even Touta can tell something's different about them compared to the usual IS suits. They definitely seem more specialized from what he's seen so far. And while Mairead might be blinking when she hears Orimura talk about using live ammunition, Touta's voice can still be heard from the stands.

"GO GET'EM MAIREAD! Show those bots whose boss!"

At the very least he's apparently a great cheerleader.
Mortimer Balman      Mortimer has deigned to come and watch this as he is always curious about other people's fancy giant robots. Mostly because he's no master pilot. ...Plus y'know, sometimes he has to fight giant robots. Pays to understand their motions and such better, on the off chance someone throws them at him.

Mortimer's crew is also there, probably to the consternation of whoever runs this place, because most facilities are not designed to accomodate things like 14,000 lb megawolves. Still, Ulbrecht will give nobody any trouble- outside, perhaps, of being a colossal puppy who likes attention and giving kisses- but either way he probably has to sit outside and watch through a window. That's okay though, as long as he can watch, he's happy. Reder will nap on his head, not giving much of a damn about the fight unless he has to be involved.

As for Mort, he'll be chewing idly on an ornate old pipe, watching as the golems came out to fight Mairead. "....Why does that one have breasts..?" Some technical specs are, sadly, lost on the old badger. His little Delibird companion would look up while clapping her flippers for Mairead. "<Lonely nerds?>" "Mmm.. Yes, probably that."
Mairead Sandilands     As Mairead watches, she hears a voice and smiles as she sees Touta and Mort "....." Looking at the Golems, she mutters, "Ye have this Mairead," she says as she waits and than the buzzer goes off and the four suits are moving. The first one walks forward and raises both arms, as the four partical cannos glow and fire at Mairead. Dodging, Mairead is able to avoid the shot, but is hit by a barage of missiles. The third hangs back and watches, as it observes the other two.

Orimura watches the vitals on Mairead in the control room, "You can do this, show us what you have," she says to the monitor as Maya is there as well watching.

Mairead moves forward and a beam sword forms in her hand as she mheads for the one on the ground with the partical cannons. As she swipes, a gun appears in her other hand and she watches as that Golem moves and than opens up with the dual gatling beam gun at point blank range at the chest of that Golem. The second Golam opens up and fires a barrage of missiles and Mairead sees this and at the last moment, rockets upward and as she does, she releasaes her own rack of 40 missiles at the IS.

The third Golem moves forward slowly as two swords appear in his hands. The Cannon Golem goes down as the barrage hits em and ther eis damage to it, but it slowly stands up and looks towards Mairead as she moves and fires on Golem 2.

Mairead moves toward the second one as she fires the dual beam cannon at the Golem as she gets in close to use her own IS ability and design of close quarters combat.
Mortimer Balman      "Oooh, fast things, ain't they?" Mort puffs a little while watching the IS all go at it. "Oof, he weren't kiddin' 'bout live fire.." His ears perk up as swords come into play. "...Mmm.. Does that look familiar at all, Nettle?"

A small sock puppet-like ghost floats out of Mort's head. "<Indeed, Master. Strongly reminiscent of the Lady Ichika in motion and form.. Such a shame about what happened to that girl.>" "Aye.. Roll, don't lean too far forward, you'll fall over- gracious me, that is a pretty fair number of missiles. I wonder if it's one shot only..?"
Touta Konoe Watching the golems and Mairead go at it is definitely what one might call a spectacle. Right from the start of the buzzer there's cannons being shot off. Aerial manuvers being deployed, missiles being launched in plethora. There's so many being launched simulataneously that its sorta hard for him to believe that this is just a training session. Even if he has seen this training done once or twice before.

"Yeah, they take these pretty seriously. These things are used as part of their military forces if I remember right. Makes sense that even the training is made so intense."

As the fighting continues and Mairead's forced into a 3 vs 1 scenario he can't help but sorta want to shout things here and there. Just tidbits of advice here and there like a concerned friend or parent would do, but so far he's keeping his mouth shut. Though his hands are moving around in all sorts of motions.
Mairead Sandilands     The Second Golem readies and a blade extends out its right arm as the begins to dodge and is hit in the leg, doing some damage form the hits. As it moves, it brings up the sword to ready for an attack as two holes on its body, near the shoulders begin to glow as it moves forward towards Mairead as it jumps and flies.

Maired blinks and rushes forward, "So ye wanna fit me with a sword?" she comments as the gun vanishes and a regular sword appears and she swings at the Golem, as the first one takes aim. As it gets a bead, the cannons glow and release their beams at Mairead at the same time as she hits the blade of the second Golem. As soona s the blades hit, their is aslight flash that occurs at the Golem's shoulders and than the sound of the cannon is heard as the beams fly for the two.

Mairead picks up the shot and moves up as the beam fly past her feet, and tha alarms appear in her vision, "What the...." she says as she looks at her feet and sees damage to her right foot and lands a good fifteen feet away. Smoke rises from from the bottom of the right foot as she looks at the three Golems. . 0 (How did that blast get past my shield? And what was that flash form that Golem's shoulders.....) she thinks as the second Golem no long has any hands, not arms below the elbows and it turns and looks at Mairead as the second one readys to attack.

Meanwhile, the third Golem is slowly moving forward and is in no hurry to attack, and as if on que, the first two move and attack, with Golem 2 staying close to the Cannon one. Mairead Launches herself forward and at the last instant, heads for the Sword one. As she approaches, she gets ready as this oen has not done much, if anything. At the same time, the Sword one rushes forward as well.....
Mortimer Balman      Hmm.. Mortimer squints a bit while watching the golems and Mairead's IS. Curious. Is she having trouble? A bit, yes. At least a bit. But she's compensating well so far.. Though he recognizes the tactics that the automatons are using rapidly, and a hint of concern appears on his face. "That's it.. Just think clearly girly, let'em line up fer ya while they try to line you up.." Murmuring under his breath, hoping that Mairead sees what he does.
Touta Konoe It's never easy to be dealing with a disadvantage with numbers, and that's expressed all too well when he sees Mairead's foot start smoking a bit. The fact that she's been able to keep up with these AI is pretty a big feat in and of itself. That said Touta can tell that if she didn't put more work into her offensive to deal with at least one of these machines eventually the numerical advantage would overwhelm her. More than anything he knows that she's on a clock and that her choice to continually launch herself into the fray might be more risky, but at the same time prove to be her best bet in dealing with the golems.

"You got this Mairead! Don't get caught up in their pace!"
Mairead Sandilands     As the swords hit, there is a small boom that occurs as Mairead and Sword go at it. The blade are moving as the two take flight and begin moving at high speeds as they circle the arena. Unknown to Mairead, there is an actual human pilot in the third Golem and she smirks as she is having fun at this. . o 0 (Come on Mairead, you can do better than this,) the pilot thinks as the other two IS' stop and do nothing. Their heads just turn as the other two IS' fight.

As the swords strike, there are flashes and after a good few minutes they seperate and hovers. There is damage to both units and it is visible. As the two hover, the other to wait and Cannon fires on Mairead as Missiles stand next to it, the two ports on the shoulders glowing. As Cannon fires, Mairead moves as the shot does not end, but turns into like a laser type weapon and one of the arms tracks Mairead. As she flies, she begins to dodge the missiles and flips up and over the beam that does wash right over the stands where Mort and Touta are located and the shield flares as the beam moves.

Sword looks damaged, but is standing strong as it looks at the other two and they stop firing and take flight as well. As they fly, Cannon fires off rapid successions of blasts at Mairead who dodge some of them, but a few still hit and she is pushed back, while Missiles fires at her and she goes to avoid them, only crossing into the path of the cannon shots and vice versa.

Mairead takes the hits and they hurt, but this is live fire and as soona s she is close to the two, Cannon and Missile, she moves behind them, "No more of this,"And she stabs both of her swords into Cannon's back and pulls up as she cuts into it and it falls forward smoking. However, what she did not know, si that Missile has a feature that will cancel out the shielding on an IS and make her more easy to be hurt and a arm comes across, sort of like a backhand, and hits her dead in the face as she tries to block it and she is sent flying and slides agaisnt the ground.

The smack is loud enough to hear in the stands and there is shock on some of the students faces and as she stands, Mairead shakes her head. . o 0 (I need ot keep my distance from that one,) she thinks as she looks at Sword and thinks as she summons her beam sword and waits as she motions Sword towards her with her left hand.
Mortimer Balman      Mortimer exhales a long plume of apple-scented smoke after a long drag from his pipe, watching this whole affair. "...Mairead!" He finally shouts out. He was probably not supposed to offer support, but hopefully they wouldn't mind subtle advice. Or not so subtle, depending on the thickness of the prospective student's skull. "If you aren't willing to sacrifice your own position, you aren't willing to *win*!" He could watch as the remaining golems got ready to pull whatever other tricks they had up their mechanical sleeves out, and trust that the young pilot understood.
Touta Konoe Touta's gaze peers above him as he watches the laser pass over the stands. That'd probably have sucked if that was just a bit lower, but those machines should know better than to put others into harm's way. At least that's what he thought until he hears the sound of that smack that's so powerful that he can hear it clearly from the stands. Was she just smacked in the face? By a robot arm? Forget practice that could leave her concussed or worse if she took that head on, and he's just about ready to jump from the damn stands if they thought about continuing if she was still down....

There's a look of relief when he sees that she wasn't too messed up from it though. Apparently she had covered her face to some extent otherwise he would hope she had some of his healing capabilities. Though this didn't mean it was over. It just meant things were only getting tougher and as Mort gives his advice, Touta can't help but feel like he's hearing Yukihime for a moment. Looks like Mortimer definitely knows his way around a fight.

"You heard him, Mairead! It's all or nothing!"

It's like he was always told, when put into an unfavorable situation there's usually two choices. One can choose to either take the safe route in hopes to find an opening at the risk of being slowly chipped away at, or one can make an opening at the risk of exposing themselves all at once. Both had their pros and cons but it was clear where Mort and Touta stood on that debate.
Mairead Sandilands     Smilling, which hurt, Mairead glances at her friends and nods, "For them," and she looks over her shoulder at Missile and She levels her sword at the other, "Me name is MAiread Sandilands, I am the leader of Clan Sandilands of the village of Torphichen and I will not yield to you," and she rushes forward at full speed, "I will not fall,"a nd she places her other hand on the hilt of the beam sword as she swings and at the same time, another salvo of 40 missiles are fired at the Missile Golem, that as it starts firing its own missiles hit it and it flies back and slides down, the unit damaged and not moving. "Now there is just one," she mutters as she begins to attack Sword.

Smiling, Sword looks, "Come on," she mutters silent, as she deflects the shots and swings back, both swords of the two IS' hitting and blocking, hitting and blocking. As this goes on, Mairead receives some hits on her body where there is red lines and blood at and the other IS has the same injuries, and "Blood," she says as she flies back and lands, breathign hard, "Who are ye, as ye are not a Golem," she says/yells at the other IS as she breaths hard and is hurting.

"Wouldn't you like to know Mairead. Now come at me and give me all you have," the voice adds as Mairead thinks and looks at the other two units and than the damage to her IS. "I will not lose to the like of you," she says as she summons her other sword and geats ready for dual wielding combat and she has a trick up her sleeve.....She than rockets forward and begins her attack.
Mortimer Balman      One of Mort's ears cocks to the side. Something has changed. The dynamic is suddenly different. He's not sure why offhand, probably because he can't really hear what Mairead's saying to the Sword 'golem' all that well. "...Why is she hesitating..? They're not just sizing each other up.." --Wait. The other IS has blood on it. Why is it bleeding..? Unless.. Oooh.

Mortimer suddenly hoped the medical technologies of this world were at least half as good as his own.
Touta Konoe The battle keeps getting more and more intense and with it a reveal is shown to the audience. As Mairead starts getting cut up and bleeding, so does one of the golems. While Touta's not all too familiar with how machines work in this world he knows well enough that they shouldn't be bleeding at all.

"Wait, that's not..."

His attention turns back to Orimura handling Mairead's monitors. Did she plan for another IS pilot to be fighting all along? He doesn't know the teacher as well as some of the others but he has definitely heard through the grapevine she was no easy instructor. If that was the case...

"What kind of exercise are the trying to give her?"
Mairead Sandilands     Mairead attacks and Sword defends and the fight moves fast as they block and attack. As the fighting goes on, the two IS' are on par, but Sword swings and as she does, Mairead goes to block and the swords she had disappears and Mairead overswings. As this happens, Sword summons one of her swords and holds it at Mairead's throat. Gulping, Mairead looks up and Sword speaks, "Yield...." and Mairead holds onto her weapons and drops them to the ground, "I yield," she states simply as Sword removes her sword and the IS disappears and Mairead stands up and her IS disappears and both pilots are bruised and cut, Mairead has a good shiner ont he right side of her face and she looks and nods to the other pilot and says nothing as Orimura-sensei walks out and ontot he field. She looks at the two pilots and than speaks.

"Good job on the training," and she looks at Mairead, "MAiread withthe Multiverse, this was designed for you to get more work on and you did well, but you lost on the part of paying attention. However, you did well. We will work on your skilsl more and we will get some of your friends to help." and she looks over at Touta and Mort. "Now go get changed and to the Infirmary to get those cuts taken care of and some ice."

Bowing, Maired says nothing as she stands up and shakes hands of the other pilot and waves to touta and Mort and walks over towards them. "Ye guys can come down now," she yells at them as she waks over to the stairs.
Mortimer Balman      Mortimer walks on down at a leisurely pace, studying the other IS pilot a bit. "..Mmmn. You folks hold back a fair bit with trainin'. ..Probably fer the best given what these fancy magical mechs of yers are all capable of." A quick look over Mairead to determine just how all right she actually is. "...That said, impressive displays all 'round."
Touta Konoe Heads back down along with Mort to greet Mairead. He's definitely eyeing the other IS pilot as well, he can't really recall if it's a student or some teacher who was operating. If it was a student he figured he would have some sort of recollection of who they were, but that wasn't important at the moment.

"It was a close match. I think you definitely would have had her if the golems weren't there. After you get that shiner looked at we'll definitely need to do some sword training she can't pull a fast one like that on ya again."

At the very least Touta seems enthuasiastic about supporting Mairead in her continued training. Though whether Orimura knew that when she advised to have Mairead's friends aid her student, he wasn't quite sure of.
Mairead Sandilands     Blushing, Mairead nods, "Thank you," she says to them. "I am glad ye enjoyed the training," she comments. "It is no good if wea re killed here, as we are learning to use our IS'. We have had a few attacks by a rival group who are stealing Cores and using them. So we have training against other pilots and the Golems," she mentions. "Orimura-sensei setups the training and I did not even know it was another pilot till I saw the blood," she adds. Touching her face she winces, "Aye, that second Golem kept cancelign the shielding on my IS so I was open with only the armor protecting me," she adds. "But this was good and now I am down for a few days as my IS repairs and I heal," and she smiles and than winces, "Ow that hurts."
Mortimer Balman      Ol' Morty lifts a brow while tapping his pipe a bit, knocking loose some cinders onto the floor. "Curious. Seems like a fast track to havin' a national milit'ry force up yer arse. Which... Would imply either desperation or substantial backing. Hopefully the former." He holds out an arm in offering to Mairead. "Well let's get ya to whatever medic station you lot have 'round these parts afore you get an infection. If it's a bit on the far side y'can ride in style atop Ulbrecht till we get there."
Touta Konoe There's not much he can say in regards to the issues revolving around Mairead's world besides that it's probably not good that people are stealing military grade weapons. Though he's not sure what he'd be able to do about that at the moment. What he can do however is make sure that Mairead at least gets her wounds checked out.

"Yeah, I think the only thing you should be worrying about is dealing with those cuts. Seriously, if you don't start taking better care of yourself, I'll have to reconsider whether to bring ya along when I try slugging my great gramps around a bit."

While Mort probably has very little context to this, Mairead should recall enough from their last conversation concerning his desire to meet up with his great-grandfather once more who had recently reappeared.
Mairead Sandilands     Smiling, Mairead accept sthe arm ,"Thank you Mort and it is not far, about a five minute walk. The IS' are to used as Military missions, but the rules for them are followed by all countries as a single IS, and the pilot could take out an army alone. If an IS is in the army that is attacking an IS has to be in the opposing force. And than the IS are to battle against each other. If no IS, than the other IS cannot engage in the fight," and she walks with them to the Infimary. "All pilots have ot follow that rule, but there is an organization that will attack and have and they steal IS Cores and use those Cores for whatever reason."

Looking at Touta, Mairead nods, "Aye," she says. "This was ot get me ready for more dangerous issues that happens within the Multiverse, especially on Note's world. I was not ready for that. But I am going to do better and I am not goign to stop thill I am," and she thinks as she looks.
