Kotone Yamakawa Earth
Ameri-Russio Alliance
Hawaii - Outskirts of Kahului

The Camp was simple but high tech there was a command vehicle with several spider tanks (Multi-legged tanks) A pair of ARMED suits and several recon drones also various utility vehicles like IFVs and APCs, marines where here and there at checkpoints and anyone who had responded to the job would have been passed through to the command vehicle itself.

Kotone has been there for a bit she's in her stealth gear sitting in a chair looking over a holo-tank of the area while Colonel Heller. The man is wearing a tactical jacket with unit credits and various webbing on it he has a pair of wrap around shades on and oddly no sign of cyberware jacks on the back of his neck. A rarity in this world really given his field. He has short cut red hair and he'll watch as everyone else arrives. Once everyone is settled in he'll speak.

"First up if you haven't committed a crime on this world. Then I don't give a damn in regards your operating here. Now thank you for coming and I'm well aware your the sorts of people who don't play political games generally."

There's a shark-like grin on his face for a moment.

"Your my kind of people in that regard. All right so any questions before I get started on the briefing?"
"So just how serious are you on the refugees you'll be willing to take in with the city restored should we succeed." Asks Kotone.

"So long as they are able-bodied to work or have skill sets needed it shouldn't be a problem. Depandats are allowed, that goes without saying."
Alexis Maaka     If shes allowed to smoke on-base, Maaka's definitely gonna be smoking a stogie Arnie would be proud to chomp on. She isn't sure how to take this Colonel yet, but she's content to listen. "What defenses are we looking at if we're gonna be clearing the place out?" She asks, cocking an eyebrow while going over the briefing holo. Looks like she got here with Kotone.
Orchid      Orchid is along to provide some of the technical support for this job, including helping deal with some of the local infohazards. She also has some experience with high-tech archaeology, so has brought some equipment and tools with her. This includes:
Two Laptops
Four external storage drives
A portable battery for recharging same
A set of system restore thumb-drives
Collaspable produce boxes, folded up
Rope
Two grappling hooks
A crowbar
Laser measuring devices
Blue chalk

In order to CARRY all this stuff, Orchid has also brought a trio of Mettools, who are serving as her Sherpas.

As for the Colonel's question... Well, there are things she could ask, but if she never asks about who owns stuff, and he never claims it...
Razel     For once Razel has decided to try to blend in, at least a little; his dark djinni-like robes have been discarded in favor of a modern suit. Not just him, either. He has an attendant with him, also dressed in a modern suit. Both suits are dark, and Razel's has a dark red shirt with a crimson tie. The attendant, on the other hand, wears all black.

Really, the overture of trying to blend in is kind of a lost cause, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, both he and his attendant sport horns, and each have a whiplike black tail. And secondly? The two demons appear ''in a flare of crimson flames''.

"Hnn... this seems almost familiar," Razel notes, before he quiets to listen to the Colonel's briefing. A smirk though, as crimes are mentioned. "Not yet, Colonel. Give it time, I am certain I can manage to find something to get in trouble for." He, uh. Might be kidding. Hopefully.
Staren     Twin bolts of light shoot down from the sky, impacting the ground at the edge of the camp and sort of... resolving into Staren and Twilight. This is a meeting, not a combat op (or, so far, an excessively dangerous world) so Staren's in street clothes and labcoat rather than his armor for once. He makes a beeline for the meeting point, glancing around but not stopping to examine the various mini-mecha. There will be plenty of time for that later! He nods to the Colonel in greeting, and extends a hand to shake. "Staren, a... researcher of problems for the Concord."

He nods at the assertion that he's commited no crime. And that he doesn't play political games. He smiles when the Colonel says he doesn't either.

"Well... I guess details on any known hazards, and theorized ones, the kind of weapons that were used at the time even if you haven't /seen/ them in the zone yet... And do you know of anyone else operating in the area?"
Twilight Sparkle      The person who materializes next to Staren might be unknown at first to anyone who has met the purple pony. Mostly due to the fact that instead of a pony a pale-skinned human girl 5'5" in height appears instead of a pony at all. But, the hairdo is unmistakeable. Dark purple with a single streak of lighter purple and pink. She is in a sensible pastel purple t-shirt and blue jeans with a lab coat similar to Staren's and quickly follows after him when he takes off. "And I am Twilight Sparkle." She pauses a moment, considering if she has a title or introduction to share. "...I am also a researcher and a magician. Hopefully we can help with whatever is needed." she says with a cheerful smile.

She actually does participate in political and diplomatic situations, but it seems unwise to mention that among their current company so when it comes up Twilight just laughs a bit nervously and continues listening to the briefing and questions posed. "I hope there won't be much fighting..." she says softly.
Kotone Yamakawa "Depends on where in the city, generally criminal elements and automated weapon systems from the third world war. So physical weapons likely cyberwarfare. There could be scavengers and that's a mixed bag I'm afraid."

His eyes shifts to Orchid for a moment and tilts his head, he says nothing sizing them up for a moment. He also takes a look to Rzel and just takes a dep back for a moment he sizes the demon up and well the demon for a moment.

"So there's hell to pay?"

Is he joking back? Or serious it's hard to tell there.

"Aside from the old combat drones of various sorts, there are likely info hazards, maybe wildlife but that's doubtful. Now there are several old American military sites here that will need cleaning out expect things to be intact there. Given the fall of America in it's split into the alliance and Empire of America? The codes for those bases have been lost. There also could be old Chinese weapon systems and the like running lose in some areas. It's been considered not worth the risk to clean things up until now."

He looks to Twilight as she makes an entrance he pauses at the name but hey multiverse he seems to have some idea about the multiverse at the very least.

"So a Wizard and a researcher?"

He now moves to bring up a holo display of the city. The collected Elites would find a tablet they could access seems the man got not everyone could wire into things. Those who can find they have access as well.

"Kahului was badly damaged in the third world and no efforts since have been made to reclaim it properly. The focus had been rebuilding the more major population centers. There had been fighting between America and it's allies and the Chinese here during the war. We're going to be needing to reclaim major systems and area of the city the big three at the moment are the airport, the power plant and the waterworks."

the holo tank brings up images of all three targets.

"Additionally there is a naval yard in the harbour along with the harbour as well."

"We have confirmed there are squatters living in parts of the downtown the region needs to be cleared for renovation and I'd like to see if a deal can be reached. Finally, there are several old American military bases in the region including one we have no records for and is likely a black site of some sort."

Kotone for the moment is quiet as she pays attention to the objectives.
Alexis Maaka     Maaka puffs on her cigar, eyeing the group with a wary gaze for Razel and his assistant. SHe doesn't know them, but the rest...they're reliable. So this could be worse far as teams go. "Magic's a thing in her world. Long story." She explains, canting an eye toward Twilight as the briefing continues on. "And if the squatters aren't so interested in playing nice? That could be an issue, scavs tend to be pretty territorial and don't like visitors. Nor do they tend to make deals." She suggests.
Orchid      Well, let's see, who else is here. Orchid remembers Alexis from the attack on Note's town, has met Staren a number of times. Twilight, Razel, and his assistant are new to her. "Hello there Twilight Sparkle, and you two," she says. "My name is Orchid, and if you need a communicator?" she holds up an ear-piece, looking like a google Glass. "And it's good to see you again Alexis."
Despite being a robot, and an expert in information systems no less, Orchid doesn't wire into the data pad. She's already practicing good data hygiene, not wanting her own mind hacked. "The power plant and water works may be on a dedicated city utility network," she notes. "If we can get to one, we may be able to take control of the other. The black site, on the other hand, probably has an isolated network, but I might be able to hack in with direct physical access."
Staren     At the Colonel's comment about Hell, Staren turns his head and... oh hey, it's that guy who was helping the crazy evil dark rocker chick. Who he shot. Staren looks suitably awkward and turns back to the Colonel. "I guess, uh, any information on those weapons that we can't just find on the internet, you could pass to us for reference? To save us time if there's a known weak point on, say, an automonous tank or something we might encounter."

The idea of any Black Site is of course enticing -- what curious research might be found there? But he doesn't comment further on it for now.
Razel     Razel actually smirks at the joked from the Colonel. "You might say that," he replies in response. His voice is very, very low. Almost enough that it sounds like it's coming up from the ground somewhere. Which might be appropriate, given he's visibly some sort of demon.

During the briefing, he keeps his eyes on the tank, while his attendant looks around at the others present. The attendant doesn't seem to be terribly frightened or suspicious of the others. It looks like he's just marking who his allies ar to be, so he doesn't attack them by mistake.

Orchid's introduction gets a bow, and the Devil of Wrath offers in response, "I am Razel. My attendant is Chelk." The other demon dips his head in greeting, but does not otherwise speak. And Razel offers, "Perhaps I could assist with the squatters. I know something of deals." The joke writes itself, so Razel doesn't make it. Instead he asks, "What sort of arrangement would you offer to them?"
Twilight Sparkle      Twilight giggles a bit. "Oh no, I'm not a wizard. I have many years of study ahead of me before I would even dare to call myself a wizard. They are masters of magic able to perform the most powerful spells with little to no trouble. I am merely a magician." she explains with a smile. She looks to Orchid after that and offers a friendly wave. "Hello Orchid! It's nice to meet you!"

Twilight listens to and looks over the presented information carefully, already working on plans in her head. "I am able to make quick and thorough repairs with my powers in addition to my combat abilities." she says, likely to help the Colonel if he is going to be breaking them into teams or assigning an objective."

When the black site is brought up, Twilight tilts her head. "What's a black site?"
Staren     When Twilight claims she can't call herself a wizard, Staren looks at her like she just grew another head. But he doesn't interrupt this briefing to point out that to his knowledge she is the third most powerful mage in her entire world, and the other two are immortals with centuries or millenia of head start.

He can answer the other question though. "It's a place that a government denies the existence of. Where you do research on stuff so top-secret you can't tell the people about it because an enemy nation might hear."

He holds a hand to his head and sighs. "Orrr, because you do such horrible things you're ashamed of your people knowing. Suppose we'll find out if we find it."
Kotone Yamakawa "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it when it comes to it, this is still claimed territory as for the scavers? They come and go so who knows I can confirm they won't be an issue at the airport, the power plant or the waterworks. The automated defence there are online enough to not make it worth it for them. If it gets messy it may end up in a forced relocation, hate to do it but they don't own what they are living on."

Kotone looks to Orchid for a moment nodding in agreement "Between you I and if needes Staren we should have that covered in that respect."

Heller humms

"If the lines are still intact that could be a possibility but you'd have to at least get into one of them to be certain there could be other nasties in there to worry about."

Kotone gives the demon a look she may very well recall them, now is not the time about that she doesn't even want to know what's going on now with that crazy rocker trick and flesh doll.

"Resettlement, employment, after all the city won't rebuild itself. Can't say more till we find out what they want."

The colonel nods to Razel as he makes note of his name and that of his attendant as well.

"A classified military site, generally involved in research for matters of security or public outcry it's kept totally dark. Hence the name black site."

"I'll be keeping you as one team for the moment, but as for the first target? You can choose between the power plant, water works and the airport though I success the airport, least messy and it will let us bring in heavier gear such as construction gear or the like and really? I thought if you could use magic you were a Wizard."

Kotone thinks "Well what's the rest of your thoughts for the first target?"
Alexis Maaka     "They don't exist." Maaka says to Twilight. "And if you go there, neither do you." She snaps her fingers, before stubbing out her cigar. "Prisons, intelligence compounds, R&D, numbers stations, that kinda thing. It's black ops shit." She's definitely talking from experience, and Staren explains it a lot better.

She's already expecting the worst from this guy. "We'll deal with them." is all she says.

"I think our best bet is the airport first. It's a good place to set up a foothold."
Orchid      Orchid asides to Twilight, "In this context, a 'black site' is a place where classified research happened," she explains. Given how little she understands about magic, she's more than willing to provide the explanation.
"I'm not much of a combatant myself," she mentions to Razel, "So I'm glad you're along." As for the big questions Kotone asks. "I'd start with the waterworks; while it's an essential utility, it's not as 'dramatic' seeming as power, so it's likely less well defended. And if we can get it to work, we might have something to bargain with the squatters; supplies of clean water. But any of the three is likely to have connections to one or both of the other two."
Razel     Razel nods to the Colonel. "Basic human needs. Very good. Perhaps I can offer them more... if, as you say, we 'get to that bridge'. I may be able to take them off your hands permanently. Would it not be wonderful if you did not need to provide for them?" Doesn't take a genius to figure out that he's planning something.

Orchid speaks, and Razel raises an eyebrow at her words. "Do not think me a... what was the word? Ah, yes... 'meat shield'. I prefer to keep my enemies far from me." Possibly a ranged attacker, then. Still, that doesn't mean he can't fihgt, just he prefers it at a distance.

As for which target? About this, Razel offers no opinion and remains quiet. Seems he'll be good starting anywhere, if his lack of response is any indication. However... he does look at Kotone, with a bit of a smirk. ...Does he recognize her?
Twilight Sparkle      Twilight blinks at Staren when he looks at her like that. "What?"

The Colonel also insists it should be wizard but again she shakes her head. "No no. I have some skills, but I am no master. I'm still a student under the mentorship of Queen Celestia. Now, Starswirl the Bearded? He was a wizard. He created most of the spells that we use today!"

There is some more discussion and the airport seems to be the first target. Establishing a supply line is important to any reclaimation effort. "Okay. The airport it is, then." she says. She hasn't taken too much notice of the demons, but mostly to be polite. Even to a pony that sort of aura and appearance is striking, and she is going over stories in her head of demons and how they tried to destroy Equestria at one point. Yes, she will be pretty cautious around them and despite her attempts it would be pretty obvious she is staring even if it is just with her eyes.
Staren     Now isn't the time to argue Twiliught's wizard status. Pep talk later! As they discuss first targets, Staren scratches his head. "Restoring the water is as important as anything else... but how will we get the water to the refugees without being able to airlift in trucks and stuff? The harbor's also an option, for bringing things in by ship... But I have to agree, if most of you prefer the airport, then let's go with that. Not only will it make it easier to bring in resources for us to use, it'll help you to establish a base of operations."
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone looks at Razel for a moment and then back to the briefing she gives no other response to it best to leave that buried right? She looks to Orchid for a moment "Hadn't thought of that point."

At the demon bringing up taking people off her nation's hands she just goes to open her mouth and closes it as she's not got a lick to say about this. Heller on the meanwhile.

"Devil went down to Georgia looking to make a deal? They are alliance citizens."

Kotone thinks more at Staren's points. "I'd say we hit up the Airport first then get the water supply. Water should be high on the to-do list."

It seems to be sorted Heller looks to twilight for a moment.

"Well you don't have Wizard Hubris at least, so I'll make that a point in your favour."

With the talk seeming settle own he brings up a map of the airport.

"Looks like we'll be hitting the airport first. While civilian it had been taken for military use during the war, there are remnants of military hardware any materials that can be salvaged will have a pay bonus for their return. If you want to talk about getting some of it as payment we'll talk depending on what you find. Be ready for combat androids, drones and possibly smart tanks. You'll need to get to the central control power and the backup generators. If you can get in and reboot the basic security systems you should be able to turn those on any of the rampant war machines. Also, Miss Yamakawa will be handling many of the field briefings on site. I will also be providing you with data for any hardware and weapon systems we are aware might be on site."
Orchid      "Pipes," is Orchid's snappy comeback to Staren. "Figure out where the current pipe network will cover, maybe set up some watering holes." As the group decides to head for the airport she nods. "Airport works, as well as any," she says, looking over the maps. "How are these robots controlled?" she asks, already seeing a few approaches she might take. She's also sending some of her spider drones into the ruins. If they fall afoul of the local hazards, eh, they're easy enough to replace. But Orchid likes to have her eyes out there before her body follows.
Alexis Maaka     "Copy that." Maaka nods, as she crushes her cigar and leaves it in the ashtray. She pops her neck, glancing toward her equipment on the edge of the room. She'll need to get changed before the op, which leads her to ask, "What time we shippin' out?" as a last querry.
Razel     Heller's mention that the squatters are citizens makes Razel think that perhaps Heller had it in his head that he was going to kill them or something. And so he's quick to point out, "I said nothing about harming them."

Since Razel can't use any sort of electronic data, since he doesn't actually have a computer -- whether in his head or in his hands -- he has a different way to get information. Looking to his attendant Chelk, he instructs, "Get some of the cats out here. I want reports on the surrounding area. If any of them take any lives without permission, they will answer to me."

Chelk nods firmly, and then bows. "Yes, Master," he replies, with a whispery voice. Then, with a wave of Razel's hand, Chelk disappears from the area.
Staren     Staren rolls his eyes at the 'pipes' comment. "And are we, personally, going to defend these watering holes? With what materiel? I mean, I could if I had to, but we could get it done faster with help. Help that can be flown or shipped in."
Orchid      "Nah, the scavengers will be guarding the watering holes," Orchid says. "We just keep the water flowing, and let the natural dynamics create a truce zone."
Twilight Sparkle      Twilight Sparkle blinks at Heller's comment to her, then smiles. "Well, thank you!" she says cheerfully. She listens to the others, but looks visibly relieved when Maaka puts out the cigar. She didn't want to be rude by asking that Alexis put it out, but the pony-turned-human was definitely and visibly uncomfortable with the smoking. "How would air drops or deliveries be any more defensible than public fountains? If there are those within the zone willing and able to steal from or deprive others they will do so anyway unless there is direct intervention. Which I believe is part of the point of clearing the city and restoring it."
Staren     "You can air drop soldiers and tanks to make the watering holes safe for the refugees, keeping the area clear of old rogue warbots." Staren explains. "Maybe the refugees could clear some new areas on their own, but... I'd feel uncomfortable relying on them to do that, when we have trained soldiers who signed up for this and their AI-controlled tanks."
Orchid      "Well, ideally by having the squatters help out in reclaiming the city, we'll be able to get them on our side," Orchid explains. "Maybe repair the city and build a community at the same time."
Twilight Sparkle      "As I said, without direct intervention there's no way for us to be sure it is safeguarded. Empowering the local population to help each other is much better than occupation."
Kotone Yamakawa Heller looks at Razel wary but doe snot get hostile. "You made it sound like something else." He looks over to Staren for a moment. "One week from now, I'll be gathering the needed support personnel. I'll also see you have some gear to pick through for the op if needed. I also need to see if I can track dowen ny of the civilian codes for the airport. Not bad thinking there Miss Orchid."

Heller notes on her ideas. "Well there's some pizza and some other food if you'd like anything and you can talk to my staff in more detail. I have work to do and I'll be in touch."

HE pauses to look at Staren. "I get the damnest feeling we have met before somewhere."
