Orchid The place: Kahului

The time: Early Afternoon

The exact place: A plot of land that will become Orchid's shop, not too far away from one of the watering holes they set up earlier. Orchid is there now, lounging in her personal 'camp.' Which is a fancy way of saying she set up a tarp on some poles, using some of the stuff from the refinery for chairs and such, and is currently people-watching, while looking through an e-book. Generally relaxing in the knowledge that this place is hers.
Staren     Staren has beamed down nearby and wanders over to Orchid's... 'camp'. "So you've decided to move in here? Out of curiousity, why here?"
Orchid      "Couple of reasons," Orchid says. "Land is cheap, starting a business here lets me get some nice loans, and..." she pauses. "It feels good, knowing I'll be in the middle of rebuilding something. Not just rushing off to the next problem, but having someplace to come back to."

There is a moment's pause, before she waves Staren at one of the chairs. "Take a seat, there's soda in the fridge." There was a LOT of useful stuff she was able to loot from the Engine Kingdom Refinery, as shown by the cargo container also on her plot of land.
Staren     Staren blinks. "You still have to take out loans?" He wanders by the fridge. "Actually bothering to stick around and help build is something you don't see 'heroes' do often. I suppose I'm as guilty as any on that, but I at least try not to leave places in a terrible situation." He takes a seat with a soda. "So what /is/ your business, anyway?"
Orchid      "I'm not paid THAT well," Orchid replies with a grin. "My nest egg is covering the land, but I'll need the money to build a building. As for the business, I was thinking custom parts, and replacement parts, for robots and cyborgs, focusing on parts no longer being made. And any other custom jobs people are willing to pay for. With the naval yard in town, there'll be machine shop work to keep the ships working."
Staren     Staren blinks. "Money? To build a building? But..." He frowns and stares into space. "Well, I guess saying you can use nanofabrication for free would be oversimplifying it. You'd still need raw materials and a source of power, of course. Anyway, sounds like a sound venture. People would no doubt prefer to stick with the limbs they've got, after all."
Orchid      "And the design," Orchid notes. "I'm going to hire an architect, get a design that will hopefully meet my needs for years, and follows all relevant code. After that, even nanofabrication has costs, then the inspections to make sure things are up to code. Things worth doing are rarely easy." She leans back, watching the people go past. "But I do think this place is worth the effort."
Staren     Staren nods. "Well, I wish you the best of luck. Let me know if there's anything the people here need you think I could provide."
Orchid      "I will," Orchid replies with a smile. "I do hope this place gets some quiet time, even if there are some places that still need to get cleaned out."
