Solomon Roget     Somewhere within the halls of the Shrine of Adversity is a rather confused-looking man clad in vaguely medieval-looking gear looking at various things. The whole place has him puzzling over the many gadgets and consoles that adjust the available battlefields, as well as the guarantee that fights here don't carry any lasting consequences. After a little while of fiddling with the electronics, Solomon shakes his head in frustration and starts looking around for signs of anyone else around. Forget someone to fight, he just wants someone to show him how the damn thing /works/. Though he still wouldn't turn down a fight if someone challenged him.
Solty Revant      Solty has been hanging around this area a lot lately. It is so facinating! People fight here, but most of them are for fun or honor or something like that rather than filled with the hatred and anger of fights she usually sees. It seems to help build friendships and helps those that need it get stronger at the same time.

She just happens to be walking by with an ice cream cone in hand when her ears twitch and she hears Solomon grumbling about the machinery. She makes her way toward him. The unassuming and decidely unusually dressed young woman peeks around him, then giggles a bit. "Here, like this." she says, then shows Solomon how to properly select and activate a battlefield. "It seems pretty complicated, I know. But really it's easy! I was able to learn it after a while. Are you here to fight Yang?"
Solomon Roget     "Oh... huh." Solomon makes a few noncommittal sounds at first, mainly just stunned in awe of the massive technological construct. After a few moments in which he gets his bearings, he then spits out actual words. "Y-yeah. I... you don't look like her. She's a young blonde woman, right? I can't seem to find her in this enormous place." He moves to press a nearby button in curiosity, but pulls his hand back at the last second in hesitation. Then he looks back to Solty. "Don't suppose you've seen her? I was hoping to take her up on her offer of a fight, but I've gotten a bit lost looking."
Solty Revant      Solty nods at the first question, then shakes her head at the second. "I haven't seen her today. But, if you wait long enough I'm sure you'll see her. She really likes this place! I kind of like it too. It's a nice idea! People can fight and work out their frustrations and even make new friends or strengthen their bonds with old friends!"

The green-haired girl pauses suddenly and blinks, then gasps and covers her mouth in a self-conscious gesture. "Oh! I forgot to introduce myself! I'm Solty Revant!" She gives a light bow, then smiles brightly. "Nice to meet you! And since we can't find Yang...maybe we could fight instead! I need more practice if I'm going to help Roy and other people!" She gives a double fist pump of determination, though one hand is still holding ice cream. She realizes she still has it and happily enjoys a few bites.
Solomon Roget     "I'm just here to fight for fun, but... yeah. Suppose that's a good way to make friends. That is, if they're not too upset about losing the fight." Solomon's busy trying to figure out this strange green-haired girl while keeping up the conversation. "Honestly? I'm hoping the far lower stakes here can fix that."

"Name's Solomon Roget. From Gielinor. Pleasure to make your acqu--wait WHAT?!" Solty's offer to fight catches Solomon /completely/ off guard. "Girl, do you not see the size difference between us? That alone puts you at a disadvantage. Unless you're hiding some powerful magic in that frame of yours, you might want to reconsider." He takes a deep breath and looks past the girl out in the distance. A sigh as he sees nobody else. "...well, if this place really does what it says it does, I guess it couldn't hurt. But you're taking the first swing, got it? I don't want anyone saying I'm picking unfair fights here."
Solty Revant      Solty smiles cheerfully as Solomon talks about friendmaking, but blinks in surprise when he mentions the size difference. "Oh...is size important when fighting?" she asks, one finger pressed lightly to her lips in uncertainty. "...hmm...I'll have to remember that." she says, not seeming worried about it for some reason. She certainly doesn't look very dangerous, though.

She smiles when Solomon mentions the powers of the Shrine and nods quickly. "It does! I fought Miss Yang and other than a few scrapes we weren't hurt after the fight! I wasn't very good, though. Miss Yang is much better. But, I don't mind being practice while I try to get stronger!"

She then selects a nice open, flat battlefield. "Is this one alright?" she asks Solomon.
Solomon Roget     Solomon raises an eyebrow, still not fully sure what to make of the admittedly kind of adorable girl. Though, he does still indulge her questions. "Size isn't /everything/, but it definitely matters. A bigger opponent is easier to hit, but much harder to knock around. And size tends to translate directly into physical strength." He pauses briefly before continuing. "Smaller fighters should have some sort of trick or long-range attack to compensate."

When Solty suggests a particular battlefield, though, Solomon realizes the girl's serious about fighting him. "Yeah... that'll do. If you're fine with it. C'mon then, let's see what you've got." Despite his words potentially underestimating his opponent for the night, Solomon adopts a solid defensive stance in preparation for the first strike.
Solty Revant      Solty makes her way into the arena and waits for Solomon to get into his ready stance. She does the same...though it is obviously an untrained stance. A bit too wide, hands clenched at her sides instead of in front of her ready to defend. "Okay...here I come!" she declares firmly. Another thing that one shouldn't do in a fight, but perhaps excusable for friendly fights.

Of course, when she finally moves...it is like an explosion. She is standing there, and then suddenly she is flying forward like a bullet, the ground literally exploding upward behind her from the strength in her body. It takes her perhaps a second to close the distance, and she comes flying in with a big wind up punch, her fist glowing and blurring with energy.
Solomon Roget     WHAM! Even with Solty's warning, Solomon gets taken by surprise at her sheer /speed/. It's a good thing he put up a serious guard, because the attack strikes him firmly in the chest. With a bit of quick thinking, though, he catches Solty's fist in his arms, redirects her momentum, and straight up moves to LAUNCH her straight at the ground, adding his own strength to the mix. "Okay! You're definitely fast... but are you DURABLE?" His tone actually starts off startled, but he recovers his composure mid-sentence.
Solty Revant      Solty blinks in surprise as she is caught, and lets out a small 'eep!' as her momentum is used to smash her into the ground. She lands on her feet despite the grapple and slam, causing a pair of small craters where her feet hit and shaking her body. Electricity arcs over her for a moment and her teeth grit. "I'm durable enough!" she replies, gripping Solomon's wrist with both hands and quickly rotating in place. She plants one foot, then tries to throw the big man over her shoulder and toward the nearest wall. The amount of force she is able to generate is sure to be as surprising as her speed.
Solomon Roget     Okay, so the pipsqueak can take damage, deal damage, and --oh crap she's got hidden muscles. It's no super crazy feat, but it's still enough to impress Solomon: he finds himself chucked toward a wall with, once again, unexpected speed and power. "I can see that! And you can dish it out too! Now let's see if you know tactics..." Solomon doesn't try to stop himself from being flung. He's too busy conjuring up magic vines to try to latch onto Solty, which with any luck will let him yank her right along with him for a swift and violent journey into a wall.
Solty Revant      Solty hees and smiles proudly as she throws Solomon...only to yelp again as she is suddenly yanked off her feet by those vines! "Uwaah!"

She smacks against the wall right beside Solomon, creating a few cracks and leaving a Solty-shaped crater when she falls to land face first with an 'oof'. "...nnn...ow." she says, sitting up and rubbing the back of her head. "Where did those vines come from?" she asks as she gets up.

She clenches her fists and lets out a determined sound. "But, I won't lose!" She leaps at Soloman again, another straightforward attack. Another punch, this time aimed at Solomon's chest.
Solomon Roget     Solomon sighs. "Head-on again? Didn't we do this already?" His collision with the vertical barrier hasn't rattled his brains or dampened his focus. He puts up his guard again and takes the full force of Solty's punch. "Not that it's ineffective, you're definitely making me take this seriously, but there's a lot to be said for good tactics." As if to demonstrate, Solomon pulls several runes out of his hip pouch, draws some magical energy from them, and unleashes a gale-force blast of wind, aiming to send Solty careening away. He lets go of the vines first, just in case. "Oh yeah. I summoned the vines using magic. Same with that blast of air I just used. Er--right, does your world have magic?" He hastily tacks that question on at the end.
Solty Revant      The blast of wind hits and Solty is sent flying away. She bounces a few times before hitting the opposite wall. "Nnng...magic? I...I don't think so." she says as she gets back up. Solomon might notice that there are metallic scrapes and broken patches of skin in a few places on her arms and legs, and electricity arcs over those places every now and then.

"That's why I need to be strong, so I can protect people from things that they can't fight!" Solty says as she rushes back in toward Solomon. Both fists start glowing with yellow-orange energy this time, and she moves in as fast as she can before jumping once, landing with both feet and leaving a bit of a crater, then leaping with all her might! A spiraling living bullet of yellow-orange energy comes flying toward Solomon. "And I'm not good at fighting, so I just have to do my best!"
Solomon Roget     "Tell ya what, I'll teach you some basic spells once we're done here." Solomon /said/ he was taking this seriously, but his voice and actions both betray just how relaxed and casual he really is. While Solty is busy picking herself up off the ground, Solomon stabilizes himself in preparation for what he presumes is another punch. And he's right! Although this one's better. It's got a sort of probably non-magical energy surrounding it, so it'll probably hurt!

    Good.

There is zero effort to dodge. Solomon's gotta know what he's working with, and the only way to find out is to take a direct hit. And take a direct hit he does! The blow slams him right back into the wall from earlier, knocking the wind out of him. "Ngh!" Solomon gasps a bit, as if trying to say something further, but he can't quite get words out. Still... it's not as if he can't keep going. He conjures another attack spell, choosing water as the element this time... and seems to have second thoughts. The spell is absolutely pathetic by Solomon standards, generating just enough offensive power to maybe pose a real threat.

Solomon saw the metallic shine and electric sparks. Water was a very, VERY bad idea.
Solty Revant      The blast of water hits Solty solidly and knocks her back, but...there doesn't seem to be any of the negative effects one might expect from a machine getting wet. It does make her hair actually flatten down for once, though! She blinks after the attack. "Oooooh. So that was magic? You made water out of nothing! That's awesome!" she says excitedly, bouncing in place a bit. "I'd be happy to learn some magic! I could help put out fires!"

She blinks as she realizes they are still fighting. "Oh, right!" She rushes in again, aiming a quick couple of punches at Solomon's belly. "Humans are weak here, right?" she asks. Apparently she took his advice and is trying some tactics!
Solomon Roget     Oh thank Guthix. Solomon's water spell didn't cause a catastrophic shutdown of who is possibly a robot-type creature. And bonus! She's excited about magic! That'll make a good conversation starter for later. In the meantime, though, Solomon's got a fight to finish. And man, does Solty really like her punches. She's putting more thought into her attacks now at least, so that's good. Solomon lets her have a go at hitting his theoretical "weak spot".

Aaaaaaaaaaand it plinks against his armor.

"...just how much effort did you PUT into that glowing punch?!" Surprise takes over Solomon as he's just not sure what to make of this. "You seem like you're tiring out there. Let's finish up, shall we?" Another handful of runes comes from his hip pouch, and this time a massive pillar of earth shoots out from Solomon's hands aiming right at Solty's own belly!

"Man, you had better be right about this place undoing major harm..." Sounds like Solomon's still not quite sure about the Shrine of Adversity working as advertised.
Solty Revant      "Um...a lot?" Solty says uncertainly as her punches don't seem to do much this time. She seems facinated by the runes, not realizing they are dangerous. "Oooh. What are th-"

That pillar hits squarely, sending Solty back and crushing her between the wall and the pillar. There's quite a bit of electrical sparks this time, and one of her arms looks like it isn't sitting quite right in its socket.

The shine flashes and the simulated surroundings disappear, freeing Solty from the crushing pin. She falls to the ground, but as promised all that is visible now are a few of those metallic scrapes. She sits up slowly and rubs her head, wincing a bit. "...ow...I guess they are some kind of magic..." she says before getting back to her feet. She smiles to Solomon before making her way back toward him. "I guess I still need to get stronger." she says, her smile a bit sheepish. "It didn't seem like I really pushed you much."
Solomon Roget     Oh no. Oh crap oh no that last attack was a bit much. Solomon /definitely/ didn't intend to take off Solty's arm. He doesn't have much time to think about it, though, before the Shrine of Adversity works as advertised and patches up everyone involved. There is a sharp exhale of breath from Solomon's direction. "Ohthankgodthatwasntpermanent." He inspects his armor, checking for damage - and finding none where he'd expect: it would seem the Shrine repairs gear as well as physical damage. Well, that's that. A good workout, a new friend. Just gotta get her up to speed on the whole combat thing.

"You didn't push my limits, no, but I definitely had to put forth effort for the whole fight. Don't sell yourself short!" Solomon winces upon recalling that one solid blow from earlier. "Your glowing punch knocked the wind out of me! But you need to learn to pace yourself. Um..." Solomon stops to think. "What else... hm. What do you say to visiting Gielinor sometime? I could show you some basic spells, show off what else we can use magic for... if you're interested. Maybe you can even get to see others fighting. But, for today, I'm going to get some sleep. There's still some things this place doesn't fix."
Solty Revant      Solty blinks at Solomon. "Oh. I did! I had energy left!" she says with a smile. "I guess I should have used a bit more?" she adds after a moment, then sighs. "But, I still don't think I could have matched your attacks. That big rock pillar hurt! Oh! And I'd love to visit Gale-inor sometime! I hope I can do magic! How did you learn magic? Is it hard? How many different kinds can you use? Are they all based on things like water and rocks? Oh! Miss Caster used fire! Can you use fire? You made plants so you can probably make fire, right?"

Solomon will still be getting asked questions and generally getting his ear talked off long after they have walked out of the room.
