Nagato     Boston... it's a familiar sight to the Fleet Daughters. A place of retreat, a place of rest, a place of no conflict. A place that they could just be. It would be the case if it wasn't for a missive sent to the flagship of the Fifth Strike from the Admiral.

It's a rainy and gloomy day too, water spills over rooftops as cars splash unknowing pedestrians with puddles... a day that Nagato treats as every other day as a warship. A coffee cup in hand in the back area of a unassuming diner, she sips and works on a small plate of pancakes. There's a second menu on the opposite side with a glass of water. It's here that she waits for the Destroyer to come... at least, she's hoping she will.
Shigure     Shigure walks along the street, taking half a care of the rain with an umbrella, more for the sake of seeming normal in this place than anything else. She wears a long coat over her uniform, slick looking and thick against the cold and wet. It's half-open at the front below the waist, showing her skirt, bare legs, and her boots clicking against the pavement.

She turns at the diner door, closes her umbrella and steps inside with the traditional little tinkle of the bell as the door swings open. She sets the umbrella down just inside the doorway with the others to dry. Blue eyes then scan the patrons, her face not giving away any emotion, as typical for the stoic destroyer.
Nagato     The bell causes the battleship to perk up slightly, eyes scanning the patrons... and landing on the newly entered. There's Shigure. She takes a sip of coffee, then flags a waitress and, with a quick point, the waitress nods and moves towards the door. "Ah, miss?" comes the server, "This way, you're expected." leading the destroyer towards the battleship. "Can I take your order? Something to warm you up from this dreary day?" the server is at least quite nice and hospitable. Nagato, on the other hand, looks serious.

She waits until the waitress leaves... then takes a breath. "I'm sorry." she starts to break the ice, at least a bit. Taking a sip of coffee, she mms. "Family. Crew. Sisters. Allies. Broken bonds on every side caused by things we all believe in with unflinching resolve to keep our views as correct." she pauses again and looks towards Shigure. "If I may ask, do you think I have forgotten who that Ne-Class has?"
Shigure     Shigure follows the waitress, then nods. "Green tea, half a spoon of honey, please." she says, her voice the exact same lyrically soft murmur that somehow seems to carry the exact distance she wants it to, even in battle. She sits across from the battleship, folding her hands atop the table and listening to her friend.

"Yuudachi's passion boils very close to the surface... she rarely thinks before taking action." replies Shigure, accepting the cup of tea when it's brought over and holding it in both hands, peering down into the steaming liquid. "Kuma too... I was in no condition to reign either of them in, after Yamashiro was wounded by Midway, but I respect their decision, and stand by their convictions." Blue eyes then lift to look into Nagato's red. "You are impatient yourself, Nagato. Quick to anger, slow to adapt to new situations. A flaw and an advantage in one."
Nagato     "As I've been told. The unflinching battleship in the sea of chaos and change." she replies. "Another coffee please." she mentions to the waitress, "I know I'm impatient, but everything I do is to protect my family, my fleet." red eyes meet blue, "Seeing Haguro the way she is, that Ne-Class..." she bites her lip slightly and nods, "Perhaps, you should hear the full story of why. You know that I was Abyssal, all the atrocities I commited. All the hatred levied towards me, rightfully. I remember /everything/ that happened to me and everything I did. It would break a lesser spirit."

There's a pause and a cough, "Not that Haguro is no less capable of withstanding it all crashing down on her. But she leveled a town, killed civilians unrelated to the possible piracy going on." she shakes her head slightly, taking the coffee as it arrives, "Ah, pecan pie, please. Two slices."

"Shigure, we both want Haguro back, we both want her out of that prison that's called Ne-Class. I know my words have been and may be harsh now, but she's a friend for us both and part of the Fleet." she looks away from the Destroyer, shaking her head, "I've failed to protect Haguro from Midway, from this fate. It haunts me in my dreams... I've lost you and the Fifth. I lost Tiny. All because I couldn't protect someone." Nagato's hands are shaking...

"There is no moment that I do not think about how to get Haguro back, how to get you, the Fifth and Tiny to come home. I don't want to lose my family here."
Shigure     Shigure's eyes fall to the cup in her hands, lifting it to take a sip after Nagato finishes speaking. It's contemplative, slow and pointedly deliberate. Eyes closed, processing the information provided to her. Once she sets the cup down, she releases it, moving to fold her hands into her lap. Eyes remain closed as she speaks. "What Haguro has done is unforgivable, that is true. Yuudachi showed me her rangefinder footage. The Ne-class is starting to win that particular fight." her words are measured, trying not to betray the emotions behind them. "I also heard what she said to you over open bands, and while harsh, I believe it to be partly true."

Shigure's eyes open then, the inner ring spinning slightly as her rangefinder readjusts. "I am of the opinion that your actions when meeting Haguro after she returned, have at least some bearing on her current confused nature. She is struggling to come to terms with your rejection. Haguro saw you like many of us did. A mother, a protector." she leans forward, moving hands to clasp on the table, leaning upon her elbows. "You broke that trust she had in you when you shot at her."
Nagato     Nagato nods, the words from the destroyer do ring true. "Yes, mayhaps I did. Something that I'm going to speak to Haguro about, without weapons, without anything. And apologize. Try to use kindness once more to recover her." she sighs, "I know I made mistakes, Shigure, and I want to make it right." she comments, "And... that's why I'm here, I wanted to apologize to you first... you and the entire Fifth."

Nagato shakes her head, "I have things to fix, to recover, to... change. Perhaps my view is as archaic as me."
Shigure     "Perhaps you should share the burden... perhaps the Fleet needs to restructure a little to spread the load of leadership." suggests Shigure. "Not a single Admiral, but a group, different mindsets able to see situations from multiple angles." she sits her tea again. "I would suggest a number of three, but I have no opinions on who should fill those positions."

She leans back again, and sighs through her nose. "The Fifth will need some time, our trust in you has received critical damage... but I can speak for us all that we will return to the Fleet, and to the Paladins if they will have us again." she looks at the battleship.
Nagato     "I have Musashi and Mutsu to fall back on." she comments, "Otherwise, you're.. correct." she gives a brief nod, "We'll work better on making sure all sides and conditions are considered." there's a pause, a long pause once Shigure speaks of rejoining... she nods, then sighs.

"Everyone is expecting me to punish you all for going AWOL. I'll handle the Paladins back end when it comes to you all but... when you come back, I'll have you all run cleanup of trash along the Pacific Ocean, a few tons each. This just serves as fair warning." she offers her hand, "We will still welcome you back into the fleet with open arms. Haguro as well."
Shigure     "We expected as much, worse, even." replies Shigure. "I will have the Fifth report to base first, before deploying for our punishment detail." she adds. "As for Musashi and Mutsu... perhaps you could collect opinions from taskforce flagships before making decisions... Mutsu and Musashi are a little too close to the issue to see the full picture."

The destroyer then stands. "I believe we are done here?"
Nagato     "You have been in exile long enough that I believe throwing the entire Fifth into the brig would be unproductive, unwarranted and cruel." she comments, "And please do, I wish to have a few words with the entire Fifth before detail." she comments, thinking a moment. "Yes, perhaps that will be best. I'll gather First Carrier, Fifth Carrier, and other opinions as well." she thinks a moment, then nods.

"We are." she replies, "I'll take care of your tab, don't worry." She takes a sip of coffee then looks at Shigure. Gone is the stern look, the stoic look... but one of care. "Be well out there, I look forward to you rejoining the Fleet."
Shigure     Shigure salutes traditionally, but sets down a pile of coins regardless. "You expect us to be self sufficient." she says, before turning to leave. "The Fifth will arrive at the weekend. We will remain at port until your leave... we have a few things to wrap up before we can debark our current operations area."

The destroyer then walks back to the door, collects her umbrella and heads back out into the rain.
Nagato     Nagato nods and stays silent, at least until she leaves. "Perhaps..." she shakes her head a bit, "Waitress, another coffee." she comments before leaning back in her seat. "Perhaps the day that a standing navy is needed..." she laughs slightly, "Shigure's a capable girl.. glad she will come back."
