Abigail Barton It's a simple mission. Scope out the abandoned village, clear out a small nest of Grimm that had formed after an unfortunate driving accident left the poor souls bleeding out and waiting to die. There's never really been enough people coming through the area to sustain a truly large gathering of the creatures, but the occasional scavenger has found their way into this location to their detriment from time to time.

Despite how out of the way it is, though, the briefing did make it seem like there'd be more than there actually were to fight. It'd probably be intensely disappointing, too, since a lone Beowolf does not make for an exciting fight. Combo practice at best.

It's not until reaching the town hall that something exciting finally happens. Moments after that font door opens, there's a yelp from the building's auditorium. There's another single Beowolf, but there's also someone in a tattered cloak hunched up against a wall. The Grimm is approaching them, and the person looks to be in trouble! Surely there's someone heroic that can show up right on time to save them from what is definitely not a trap!
Yang Xiao Long     "I was expecting a pack, not some lone pup." grunts Yang as she finishes piledriving the Grimm into the ground, where it wafts away as smoke moments later. She makes for the largest building, and then instantly shifts into combat mode again at that yelp.

Without a word, but a gutteral, primal roar, the blonde surges forward, and swings a haymaker into the side of the Beowolf, sending it flying into the wall to explode into smoke. "Two Beowolves does not a pack make.." she sighs, then turns to the figure. "I wasn't expecting anyone else to be here... you okay?" she asks, kneeling down and offering a hand. "I'm Yang, a Huntress. Can you stand? I can get you back to town, my bike isn't far from here and has room for a passenger."
Abigail Barton The cloaked figure flinches as Yang summarily obliterates that Beowolf, remaining hunched over for several moments as if they were uncertain about Yang's... Everything.

"Eh? Y... Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks." A girl's voice comes out, and it's unclear just how old she is. She's a bit shorter, though, and she's fairly light should Yang pull her up as she takes that extended hand. The girl's hand is a little slimy.

"You're... That Yang?" She follows along easily enough, at least, although she seems wary of sticking too close. "I think I've... Heard that name before. From Remnant?"
Yang Xiao Long     "'That' Yang? There any others?" she asks, easily pulling the girl up, and giving a friendly grin. "Yeah, I'm from the world of Remnant. Yang Xiao Long, at your service." she says, leading the way out of the building and keeping her eyes open for any other Grimm that might have shown up. "What's your name? Why're you out here all alone anyway?" she asks, glancing back over her shoulder.
Abigail Barton I've heard the name a few times. Mostly in China, once in a temple." The girl replies with a light nod, her hood falling away with a DRAMATIC nah it just kinda slips off. Red hair, indeterminate age that still isn't quite professional/older woman. "I'm... Abigail."

She shivers lightly, then slips a pen out of her pocket. "I heard there were good finds out here, but... Well." She glances towards the auditorium's doors once to see if there's movement. Yang's own check shows that there's no other Grimm in the area, although that slimy feeling from helping Abigail up hasn't left as if it's still sticking to her.

"There's not much to find out here. Kinda sucks." She sighs, then throws her hands up dramatically. There's a subtle flick of her wrist, and the pen is gone. Moments later, there's the creak of metal above them, and then a chandelier falls towards Yang!
Yang Xiao Long     Yang doesn't link together the two motions, the pen going missing then suddenly getting something coming down at her, but she does react to the latter with a quick pivot and a hard left hook, firing a blast of energy into the light fixture to deflect it, sending it into the wall away from both herself and Abigail. "Jeeze, this place is falling apart... we better leave." she says, wiping that hand on her jacket, trying to get rid of the slimy feeling.
Abigail Barton Abigail hides a grimace as Yang deflects that fixture so easily. "Of course..." She murmurs, more to herself than in response to Yang, but it's conveniently vague enough to work! Kind of. Abigail lets out a low sigh, fishing out what looks like off-brand Skittles from her pocket.

The slimy feeling lingers, but at least it's on her jacket instead of her hands now. Yang may notice over time, however, that the slimy substance doesn't stay where she wiped it, though, almost as if it's trying to get back on her directly.

"You were hard to find, though, and I've still got a job to do. It's nothing personal." Abigail sounds far more sinsister as she says that, coinciding with some clattering by the walls as if something had been thrown there. Indeed, the non-Skittles are gone, and explosions rock the base of the wall. The walls break, and they fall towards Yang!

It probably wouldn't be a problem in any other situation, but a feeling of numbness and sluggishness radiates from that slimy sticky gunk!
Yang Xiao Long     Yang turns around, starting to head out again... and then Abigail says that, and the explosion goes off. She turns, grunting a bit as her body takes more time to respond than she's used to, and thus, gets herself buried by the wall debris.

One could be forgiven for thinking that's it... that the wall trick did the job and the target is now dead.

Of course, if Abigail did her research she's ready when the debris pile explodes and a VERY ANGRY Yang emerges, eyes glowing red and hair burning like fire. She's even discarded the jacket in a flourish.
Abigail Barton Well. That didn't work, either. Instead of looking shocked or frightened, however, Abigail just sighs again in exasperation. "They warned me about this... Well, then. So much for keeping up with the appearances."

That sticky feeling and the numbness leave as an orange sheen appears to be flying back towards where Abigail is standing. The girl is standing in a rather odd pose with one hand on her hip and tilting sideways while pointing at Yang. "You've done enough damage. It's time for you to die. JAM Project!"

Suddenly, an orange gelatinous cube appears behind Abigail. It warbles threateningly and starts lurching forward, but it doesn't attack. No, it seems that the thing's appearance was just a distraction for the girl to get in close for a sudden flurry of knife swings at Yang's legs!
Yang Xiao Long     Yang grits her teeth, and is about to lay into a flurry of punches at the cube, when her Danger Sense goes off, and she fires downwards instead, launching her backwards and away from the girl. Blades slice through her Aura, flares of golden light rippling and sealing the slashes as soon as they open, before fading away again. "Damage? Bitch, I help people! I save lives! What's a bit of property damage compared to your life!?" Yang knows she does a lot of collateral when on mission.

As she lands, she skids back a couple of feet, then sets her stance. Ember Celica reconficgures, and as Yang punches a flurry of blows into the air, she launches a barrage of exploding projectiles. They home in, slightly, but can't track a dodging target.
Abigail Barton     So you /can/ see it... Hm. That should make things more interesting, then." Abigail squints slightly as she watches Yang settling into a proper stance, standing back up to brace that knife in front of her. Instead of fleeing, however, she instead opts to move into the flying explosions, wincing as the manage to singe both her and the giant cube alike. As those pieces fly off the cube, Abigail does an odd-looking, yet acrobatic frontflip as she kicks said pieces towards Yang directly.

"Don't blame me. Blame the people that got angry enough to pay me." Abigail follows up the piece-kicking at Yang with a toss of her own knife, but she doesn't stop there. No, she gets a hold of some of that debris, and she tosses the crushed gunk right at Yang to try and get some of it in her eyes as well.
Yang Xiao Long     Yang shifts stance, her weapon reconfiguring again as she starts punch-splosioning the gunk. She then has to shift as debris is flung at her, one good chunk smacking her in the bridge of the nose, and opening a gash that doesn't close on its own, causing blood to trickle down and over one eye, forcing it to stay closed. "Whatever they're paying you, it ain't enough to die over." she says, slamming her fists together and sending a pressure wave out from her body.

Yang then ratchets her arm up, and drops to a knee, slamming her fist down into the ground, and causing it to ripple up in spikes of jagged rock to try and skewer Abigail as she approaches.
Abigail Barton Yang may notice a curious thing happening: When those pieces hit her, they stick like that slime from before. When those spikes cut up Abigail's legs despite her best efforts to weave around them, similar cutting pain is redirected towards Yang. It's mirroring the damage!

"Perhaps not. But they've warned me about the danger already. The reasoning. I've seen your type before. I still..." Abigail grits her teeth as she stumbles and does a few flips to catch her footing, the excessive movement somehow letting her get her balance back even as she picks up more debris and draws out another fan of pens between her fingers. "... Anyway. You fight well, but you really need to consider who you're making enemies of, too."

And with that, the assassin goes back on the attack! She starts whipping those pens at Yang rapidly, circling around and disguising her movements with strange twirls and the gelatinous cube warbling about to provide more visual noise. The sticky substance isn't slowing Yang down, at least, but it's still advancing on her ever so slowly!
Yang Xiao Long     Yang feeds off of damage. Her power grows as she takes more... but that pain reflection, that bypasses her Aura... "You're not bad yourself, but I'm just getting started. I'll save lives, and I'll keep saving lives, and some trumped up hitman like you," She crosses her arms in front of herself, letting those pens strike her Aura as she bolsters it up like a wall, some of them still breaking through and gouging chunks ut of her body. Once the barrage abates even slightly, she erupts in another pulse of force. "Is gonna have to try a little harder than that!" she snarls, then kicks forwards, aiming to grapple Abigail with those powerful arms of hers.
Abigail Barton      "Is that what you believe? Well... It's a shame we're fighting, then." Abigail actually smirks slightly as she says that, taking note of Yang's increasing power as the fight continues. Normally, someone fighting against Abigail for an extended period should be slowing down, but she notices those continued bursts of power coming towards her.

Also, getting grabbed by the legs. That's not a good place to be. Although some of that damage against Abigail mirrors against Yang, it's clear that the assassin is going to have kick things up ^a notch as well! She can feel something cracking below her, and it's a safe bet that it's not Yang's arms making that noise. Hissing in pain, Abigail takes a moment to press her fingers into her forehead and look down at Yang... Dramatically! "Being this close isn't great but now... Now, you're in the perfect range! JAM Project!"

The gelatinous cube looms, and Abigail flicks out another pair of knives as she starts whipping them and slicing at Yang, aiming for quantity over quality. As she does that, the cube actually starts attacking as well, fists of gelatinous might rushing towards Yang while the berserker can probably hear it warbling something out that sounds like 'nananananana'.
Yang Xiao Long     Yang is being forced back, and the combination of the knives, the gel-fists, and the mirroring of damage, is making the Berserker back down. She reigns in her temper, clenching her teeth as she backs away from the onslaught, using her gauntlets to catch some of the more fatal blows. Once she gets a moment, she fires her gauntlets and launches herself to range again, then without more than a glare, she turns and sprints off, leaping and firing her gauntlets again to launch herself further.

    Yang is Disengaging.
Abigail Barton     As she's released, Abigail staggers back several feet while the gelatinous cube slides over to reform underneath her, catching her in a pose not unlike someone resting on their side watching TV on a couch. She doesn't give chase when Yang increases the distance between them, instead taking the opportunity to let her legs just rest.

"No hard feelings, then. Farewell." The Stand User doesn't break eye contact even as the Berserker shoots her that glare, then stands back up slowly once the coast is clear. She pulls a phone out of her pocket, taps away at it briefly, then speaks.

"Target's fled the area. Message delivered, but she's still alive. Next time, give me proper intel."
