Android 17 Seventeen gets on the stage and starts stretching his arms behind his head as he waits for his opponent to get on the stage.  He is in his normal clothing of jeans with a green and white shirt.  There is an orange armband on his arm, with the words 'RANGER' written in black.  His hair is black and hangs around his bangs as his blue piercing eyes look ahead.

The roar of the crowd is enough to make someone deaf, but it doesn't seem to bother him too much.  Though he's looking to put a win under his belt after being handed his first loss.  Finally, his arms come down as he simply waits.

When Vergil comes onto the stage, he gives the demon a quick nod before moving into a defensive stance.  "May the best contestant win," he says friendly enough.  This is a fight, not a grudge match, and there is no reason to take things personally in a fight like this.  Even with Seventeen's dedication to try and eke out a victory here.
Vergil     Vergil strides out to confront the roar of the crowds with chilly indifference. His blue coat flutters dramatically as he takes centre stage and draws his blade Yamato, flourishing it in the air and examining it. It's his first match, and though he looks prepared, there's a slight limp to his gait that only a skilled combatant would recognise.

He doesn't return the nod, but only says, "I intend to," in response to 17's platitude. When the starting gong rings, he's a flurry of motion, crossing the distance between the two in the blink to unleash a fast whirling slash that ends with him with his back to 17 as he practically tosses his katana back into its sheath.
Android 17 "Hm, is that so?" Seventeen says with an emotionless tone, but as the blinding attack comes in, Seventeen moves to generate energy through his body.  The White Aura glows around him as he tries to move through the attack, the sword cutting through his shirt as Vergil gets first blood in this bout.

However, with similar speed, he disappears, aiming to try and appears above Vergil, aiming to try and wrap both of his legs around his neck and attempt to smash him down in a leg grab.  Flipping back to his feet he lands and turns towards his opponent, aiming to be more alert this time.

"I hope I don't make it too difficult for you."
Vergil     Vergil frowns lightly as his attack is blunted by that energy field. He scored the shirt though, so it's nothing that can turn him aside completely. But the android proves himself quick, as his legs wrap around Vergil's neck, and he attempts to drive the demon into the ground. But Vergil isn't quite that fragile. Instead, he pushes back and flips backwards to try and shake his opponent off.

He's rubbing his neck as he lands, but there don't seem to be any bruises. "You're not. Otherwise, you would have tried to break my neck." An array of blue spectral swords appear around Vergil, three on each side, before he suddenly blurs towards the ranger once more, whirling his sword again. But this time, he brings them both airborne, and follows up by firing the swords at breakneck velocity to push 17 away!
Android 17 Vergil may not be used to people who can fight with very dangerous speed, but Seventeen can track him.  If not with vision, then with heightened hearing.  When the swords come down, a green barrier goes up to try and absorb the weapon's blow.  It does successfully, then a second later the barrier drops, and Seventeen moves again.

Moving forward while his opponent is hopefully off guard, he slams a palm in, aiming to try and knock his opponent back, before following the attack up with a roundhouse kick aimed for the side of the Demon's head.  Seventeen, right now, seems to be focused on close quarters and showing he has quite the bit of skill in this range of combat.

"I don't kill people, also I am sure killing your opponent is grounds for losing this tournament.  You're pretty intense for what comes down to a tournament, do you have something to prove?"
Vergil     Vergil snarls as the barrier eats his swing and the follow-up summoned swords. "Blast!" he snarls, only to get struck by 17's palm, and sent spinning to the ground with the follow-up roundhouse kick. He's not down yet though. Indeed, it looks like he's not been hurt at all. "I am a son of Sparda. It would take more than a broken neck to put me down."

As if to prove that point, he assumes his demonic form in a flash of blue light. His sword, now within a sheath that is bound to his arm, flashes as Vergil moves even faster than before, smacking 17 with the sharp sheath twice before quickdrawing the sword and slashing out with four slashes, each one empowered by demonic essence, leaving blue trails in the air. And then, one more slash. Vergil actually takes his time to line this one up, gripping Yamato with both hands before swinging and painting a blue, almost black arc in the air.
Android 17 "Is that so?  I'll have to remember that.  I don't know who Sparta is, but I suppose it's natural for sons to look up to their fathers.  I'm just a bit of an exception in that regard," Seventeen says, making casual conversation.  It's not that he is treating the fight with disrespect, but that he's keeping himself calm and focused, while also hoping the conversation does the opposite for his opponent.

"Oh transformation...somehow that never seems to get old," Seventeen says at the sudden transformation of Vergil.  However, he knows such things are rarely for a show so he shifts his stance defensively and channels more energy through his body to get ready.  The flashing blue swing is once more challenged by the green Android Barrier.

The clash of the two forces causes the arena around them to shatter as they collide.  Lighting errupts from them, shattering more stage, and there is a grunt of effort from Seventeen, as he focuses everything into the barrier.  However, for this moment, it holds...and once more he drops it to try and put Vergil off center.

However, instead of a punishing melee attack, he points both hands forward, and fires a ball of energy into his chest, aiming to send him back and away.  This is followed by a barrage of smaller balls that try to track him, trying to keep pelting him and try and turn the flow of the combat into his favor.
Vergil     His initial assessment was wrong. Android 17's barrier is far more stubborn than it initially seemed. Vergil pushes against it with all his demonic might, ignoring the destruction of the arena about him. But for all his effort, his attack doesn't go through. Until 17 drops it, and Vergil stumbles forward.

He eats the energy blast to the chest, and goes flying back as his form reverts. He is stuck by some of the follow-up smaller ki blasts and staggers before he can find his feet and knock the remaining away with his sword. "Not bad," he concedes. Once again, it looks like he's not hurt at all.

He hurls a summon sword at 17. Just the one, only trying to open him up so Vergil can quick step into the air above the ranger's head slash down at him twice, before bringing Yamato around into an incredibly fast spiralling slash, aiming to lift Vergil and 17 both higher into the air.
Android 17 Once more, Seventeen seems to focus on charging that power around the aura, instead of focusing on the barrier now that it seems Vergil wasn't planning a powerful attack, trying to make sure he can outlast the demon in endurance.  Which, to him, he could...unlike the demon (presumably) Seventeen could go on for a LONG time.  Then again, he could be wrong in that...the man looks barely damaged.

However, the blade comes up, the barrier moves to raise but the sword is faster this time.  The barrier is pierced, and just in time for Vergil to push his advantage.  The blades come up, and down, forcing Seventeen to defend with his arms.  Blood runs down his forearms as he goes sliding back from the offensive.

This time, however, he does not stop completely.  Instead, he redirects his momentum and leaps forward aiming to launch himself RIGHT for Vergil after his offensive.  He aims to try and spin, aiming to kick the demon right in the chest and hit something vital.  He follows it up with bringing both of his hands to either side of Vergil's head, aiming to try and put the man off guard.

Seventeen drops back, watching his opponent carefully.
Vergil     Vergil smirks with satisfaction as he feels Yamato bite into flesh instead of energy barrier. But it's not a crippling wound in the least, evidenced by the swift retaliation. Vergil coughs as a knee meets his gut, and once again goes spiralling into the ground as his head is slammed. The dust clears, and he's standing again, but breathing hard. Finally, a noticeable effect of the battle at hand.

"Come on!" he says. It's unclear if he's addressing 17 or himself, but he gets back to his feet and sheaths Yamato once more. He stares at the Android for a long moment, as multiple summon swords appears above 17's head. In an instant, they all come raining down, and Vergil speeds forward to once again slash at him, whirling about and sheathing his blade in the same motion.
Android 17 Seventeen's eyes snap forward at the call of 'come on' as the swords above him start forming.  His eyes gaze up before he kicks back against the ground and dances back.  His steps are just one more ahead of each blade, until the last few.  He's gota time this right because he's seen this move from Vergil at the beginning of the fight.

The barrier turns green, as the last two swords drop and are stopped by the barrier.  The Android barrier, a bright green energy field is then immediately assaulted by the flashing Vergil, only to know exactly where the man is now.  The slash digs deep into the barrier, forcing him to apply more effort and energy into keeping it alive.

However, it ends, and in that flash, the barrier is gone and Seventeen is gone.  Appearing right below Vergil in a crouch, he leaps upwards aiming to send an uppercut right towards the underside of Vergil's jaw, aiming to send him upwards.

Appearing right above him, Seventeen brings both hands down in a hammer blow, once more aiming to send the son of Sparta towards the ground with powerful force.  For now, Seventeen stays in the air, floating and seeing what Vergil will do.
Vergil     Vergil's face is a rictus of fury as he, once again, fails to breech 17's barrier. He's so mad, that his devil side comes out once more. Or is it a deliberate strategy? For this time, he tilts his head back to avoid the rising knee, and then vanishes in a flury of blue, leaving 17's hammer blow to strike only his afterimage. Where did he go?

Immediately behind 17 it seems. His demonic form fades, resolving into his regular form once more, and he attacks immediately to take advantage. He quickdraws Yamato and aims to slice 17 in the back, then sheaths it and draws again, repeating over and over to create a vortex of whirling cuts. And then, to cap it off, he sheathes his sword, and seems to draw and sheath it again in an instant, creating a bubble of even more reality-rending slashes around 17.
Android 17 Vergil appears behind him, but turning on a dime the barrier activates again as Seventeen spins around at the last second.  He forces himself completely on the defense, trying to make sure he doesn't get caught by the onslaught from the Demon.

The showering of cuts and whirlwind of damage bites deeply into the green barrier.  He can't block everything this time, and forced to put as much focus as he was willing to dedicate without draining himself dry he waits.  The shield breaks and the aura returns, as he moves to charge energy.  He's getting ready for something...

He smashes into the ground from the reality shattering attacks, but the android's defense holds as he slides across the ground with both arms in front of him.  New slashes appear on his duds, with new cuts open from the fight.  He kicks off the ground aiming to go right for Vergil, aiming to try and headbutt him.

Moving quickly he tries to leglock the Demon, before aiming to try and slam him down face first into the arena.
Vergil     Even now, even with all that, 17's barrier holds true. Vergil's sneer only deepens, and with a final push, he manages to break it. But 17 is building up to something. Vergil begins sheathing his sword, leaving him open to the rushing headbutt which knocks him back, leaving him open to get grappled by the head again and having his face slammed into the ground.

It takes him a while to push himself back up. Still no blood or bruises, but the toll of constantly regenerating is evident. He's breathing hard, but shows no sign of giving up. He begins flash stepping about, throwing swords whenever he stops. Very evidentially, he's stalling to recover and formulate a plan.
Android 17 Seventeen continues to move, while the son of Sparta starts flash stepping, the first of the swords came in too quickly, slashing through his side and drawing out more blood.  With a grunt and a look of pain, he snaps his head back and matching his own movements to Vergil's own.  When Vergil flash steps, he does the same.

The two go around the arena, the only sign of their presence is the sweeping burst their power and the flow of dust from their movements.  This will go back and forth until Seventeen tries to second guess one of Vergil's flashes.

Appearing to the side of him Seventeen aims his elbow right for the side of the Demon's head, trying to catch him off guard and then follows it up with a sweep of his leg, trying to put him on the defensive and on the ground in a dangerous spot.
Vergil     Vergil's movement is matched, and even guessed and anticipated. He takes the elbow to the head, but uses the momentum to flip over the following leg sweep. He recovers, standing straight and looking furious. "Enough. I'll show you the depths of my power!" His legs slide apart and he assumes the classical iaijutsu stance. His form begins crackling with demonic power as he assumes his Devil Trigger form. "Now die!"

He moves as a blur, afterimages blooming from the place he was standing. Every square inch within the arena is split and slashed, reality sliding apart at the seams as if it were a screen that got smashed with a brick. A blue haze fills the air as Vergil returns to his spot, slowly sheathing his Yamato in the paused moment he created. When it clicks home, all the rending slashes he created catches up with the present.
Android 17 The declaration of 'now die' was enough to tell Seventeen he needed to put everything he could into defense.  Arms cross his body as the barrier comes over him.  Of course, for Seventeen, he doesn't even see what comes next because he can not stop time.  The entire arena is a sea of swords, and there is no avoiding this one.

Seventeen, luckily, did not rely on avoidance and instead relied on putting everything into defense.  The barrier shatters from the sheer force of the attacks, and blades sink into his body.  He's forced to a knee from the sheer power of the blow and he's bleeding a great deal.

However, he's not down.  He vanishes, aiming to appears right behind Vergil, at that moment where he assumes victory is assured.  He aims to send a palm right into his back, before vanishing straight up.  Arms coming down and pointing down as he releases a barrage of blasts towards the (hopefully) flying demon.  Explosions rock where the balls of energy touch, shaking the entire arena.

"No thanks.  I did that once, I didn't like it."
Vergil     Let it never be said that one cannot be too committed to their aesthetic.

As Vergil lovingly returned Yamato to it's sheath, 17 warps behind him and spikes him into the air. He grits his teeth as he flies up, now seeing the ranger above him and letting energy blasts rain down. He raises his arms to try and buffer the damage, but it still proves too much. He's spiked back to the ground and blasted again and again.

When the smoke clears, he's on a knee, trying to get up. He takes a long moment, before his legs give out and he falls forward. "I need... more..." he gasps out, before unconsciousness takes him.
Android 17 Seventeen slowly floats down to the ground again and falls on his butt.  God that hurt, and he was not a fan of being cut so bad...that he didn't want to be cut so bad.  He blames the schools for this.

Leaning forward he looks over to his opponent who passes out.  "Good fight," he says, with a smile and falls backward hands outstretched.  He was going to need some medical attention to, but right now the best thing he could do is nothing so that his heart rate could calm down and his blood will stop leaving his cuts.
