CS El Dorado - Formerly known as Arkansas
                                 CASTLE REFUGE
                          HOME OF THE TOMORROW LEGION

Emerging from the warpgate, the group sees a medieval castle with the occasional hint of modernity -- a radio dish here, an autocannon turret there -- with a paved road leading up to it past a 20th-century-looking village center. All manner of people are here -- humans and dwarves are the largest minorities, but beyond that anything goes. An elf here, a large crocodile-man there, a cactus person there, a floating blob with tendrils that may or may not be a person -- all kinds are here. In the sky, the occasional flying power armor or wizard returns from patrol or sets out. And besides the castle of adventurers, the townsfolk go about their day outside its walls.

But you're not here for the tour. That can come later, if you wish. No, you're to head northeast, miles through the wooded hills, just across the border, not that this border means much these days. There's a dirt path for parts of the way, but there are a few abrupt dropoffs and a mostly-dry riverbed that make travel inconvenient in a straight line along the ground, requiring climbing or detours through the woods. A couple of times the group crosses broken bits of old road or the overgrown, ruined foundations of a building, but really, there is just not much to see in this stretch. Adventurers keep the forest free of the worst monsters this close to the castle, and you're not going out far for your first stop. But it's clear that the wilderness is home to alien life as well. What looks like a squirrel in the shadow of a tree reveals itself to be a hairless green thing with gemlike eyes and a bulbous, fleshy tail as it scampers off. One time instead of small birds flying off as the group approaches, it's tiny, winged humanoids. Probably the most notable sight is a ruined town on the edge of the riverbed in the distance, off to the right. Surely it's been picked clean by now, though...?

                                    LONGRUN
                          BASICALLY JUST A TRUCK STOP

But you're not here for ruins today. Eventually the group comes into view of Longrun. It is a frontier village (300 years after the apocalypse, basically everywhere is the frontier,) even sparser than the village in the shadow of Castle Refuge. It is basically just a place travelers stop to buy fuel with no other notoriety to its name, but that means it's a good place to pick up news before heading out, in case travelers from the north have mentioned seeing the Coalition force you're here to investigate.

As the party comes into sight of the trading post that also serves as the settlement's town hall, it is clear that a crowd is gathered around. It seems like this must be most of the humans in the village -- and everyone gathered to gawk IS human. The occasional nonhuman moves furtively, not staying outside any longer than they have to to get wherever they're going. Some of the human townsfolk go about their day, paying no mind to the commotion.

Getting closer, it's easy to see what everyone's gawking at: Parked in front of town hall are a couple of black transport vehicles with skull markings and mounted guns, and over a half-dozen Dead Boys -- men and women in all-black armor with helmets styled to look like skulls and a skull insignia on their foreheads -- just sort of standing guard outside the town hall.

Reyes     Reyes was already at Castle Refuge. He's been availing himself of all the information on the briefing, and polishing his souped-up Explorer Environmental Battle Armor.

Said polished armor's now donned, and carries him much of the way towards Longrun as a low-grade levitation spell integrated into the battle armor lets him float along the ground and avoid most of the uncomfortable nature of the trail. The armor's external circuit designs pulse with a faint blue light with every turn he makes. He only lands properly as he nears town, powering down the armor. The circuit patterns fade until there's basically no glow at all... visible only if one really tries to spot them.

It's not odd for adventurers dressed in decent battle armor to be found roaming town to town, but he does ensure that his weapons are all stashed in compartments on his armor and to avoid looking menacing... but the moment he sees the SKULL MARKS on distant black vehicles, Reyes hisses quietly and darts for some cover he can use while taking closer stock of what's going on out there. He'll begin to approach town hall in a meandering way if he can find something like a window that the Dead Boys aren't covering.
Majima Goro A car. Non-descript, really. Black car, tinted blue windows, easily a relic from the early twenty-first century. "Okay, I think this is the place, boss."
The driver is a nervous Asian man, but he's smiling.
"...'n why did y'sign me up for this crap?" A man in a snakeskin jacket rests in the back, eschewing a seatbelt. This choice has had a variety of unfortunate consequences for him along this ride, but he's been generally okay, and frankly the way he's sprawled on this back seat he'd look stupid putting it on halfway through. He's fine.
"Networking, boss! It sounded like a great way to learn more about the politics of--"
-- Substory Start --

"...fine. Whatever. Just get some fuel and get outta here. Whatever this crap is, it's probably outta your league."
"I emailed you with the details."
"..yeah, thanks, Nishida."
The car stops at the edge of the village, and Majima steps out of the car, almost swaggering. He adjusts his eyepatch, and...
It doesn't take long at all for him to spot some guys in what looks like swat armor designed for edgy teenagers standing outside the town hall. Alright. He's crazy, but that's eight guys with guns. He keeps out of their line of sight, around a corner. He tries to flag down a passerby, discretely. Someone can explain what the crap's going on.
Rhongomyniad     Who should lead the procession but a literal Knight in Shining Armor? Astride the white, armored steed Dun Stallion, it is none other than King Arthur in full plate who approaches Longrun. One hand on the reins, the other holds the Divine Lance with its tip pointed skyward, looking every bit the part of an ordinary weapon with a covering of braided metal bands. A helmet like the head of a lion conceals her face, decorated with a great mane of white fur.

Civilians gawk at the incident. Reyes has gone to ground for the more subtle approach. And so it is this King of Knights who approaches the Dead Boys blockade around the town hall. The pace is a simple walk, and she pulls Dun Stallion to a halt once close enough to speak without shouting. That would be rude.

"Well met. I am King Arthur. May I inquire about your current activities?"
Staren     Notably, the eight Dead Boys aren't exactly blockading, or positioned like they're tactically locking down the building. It's more like they're here to let everyone know that they're here.

The Dead Boys start to stare at King Arthur as she rides up on a goddamn horse. Sadly none of them know anything about England. One actually holds his hand to the side of his helmet in a 'I am talking on the radio' gesture, and another steps forward to approach her, looking her up and down before responding, "Corporal Hatfield, Coalition States Army. We are just providing these fine folks a reminder of who rules them and escorting the tax collector. What is your business here? ...And where are you the king of, exactly?"

Majima's asking a bystander confirms this story: Yes, the Coalition really is collecting taxes. And... they're not being overly opressive about it, freely giving tax breaks to those under financial hardship -- Farmer Bob had a bad harvest last year, and they didn't collect anything from him!

    Huh.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone had been visiting her family back in her world's Japan when the call came so here she comes she's a bit in a bad mood but duty calls at least she got to see Miho and some of her other Japanese relatives, for a bit. So she's suited up again but this time in a black somewhat form-fitting body armour of some sort though as she exits the warpgate she has a pack on her back and assault rifle slung over it she does not have it out and she's not looking for trouble with the dead boys if she can help it. She more looks like some Head Hunter whose come to town for whatever reason at least though. She seems to be looking to the deadboys as she arrives and she its her head at a moment as she also steps in for a moment.

"So escorting the tax man and a visual reminder of the Coalition States is still thing? I see the name's Kotone Yamakawa I was just passing through, for the most part, I'm not looking for trouble. I was just wondering what had a squad of troops out this way. So it's not monster or demon troubles then?"
Rhongomyniad     "Mmm," The King of Knights inclines her head with that thoughtful noise, "I am the King of Knights, King of Camelot, the Once and Future King of England." Her gaze lifts, scanning over those accumulated. From this range their presence is a lot less hostile or oppressive than her initial estimation. After a moment, she returns her attention to Hatfield, before her, "I am on sabbatical. Even in distant lands, a knight is ever vigilent in the face of potential tyranny."

"I do not perceive such before me. Although at a distance, I must admit matters looked somewhat less favorable."
Majima Goro Majima's brow raises. Taxes. Literally about taxes. It always boils down to government officials gettin' it handed to 'em over taxes. He closes his one eye, covering his face with one gloved hand, the other one waving the guy away. "Arright. That's about as dumb as I thought this was gonna be. Thanks."

That raises some questions. He slips back off the wall, wandering over towards..oh, hey, while he was there, someone else started talkin' to 'em. And she's in some crazy ass armor. Well. Alright. Sounds like these are the sorta guys he's gettin' paid to get rid of. Maybe he should actually check that email.

After a long moment of staring at a piece of glass, he groans again, slipping the phone away. Alright. This is probably at least part of that force they're worried about. Noone'd be sending out a missive like this if they were -supposed- to be collecting taxes, so this is a protection racket. He can dig it.

"...So, yeah, everythin' cool over here?" His hands go out wide, and he adopts a swagger in his walk again. "I hate to see a lady in distress."
Staren     Well, someone from really far away who hasn't heard of the Coalition isn't exactly unheard of when folks could wander through a rift at any moment. Still, she's human, so she's okay. Hatfield briefly tenses up when the word 'tyranny' comes up. "...Yeah. The Coalition protects humanity from monsters and demons and those who consort with them." He taps his helmet. "The look's to strike fear into our enemies. Let monsters and demons know what's coming to them."

Some of the Dead Boys watch Kotone and Majima as they approach, but noone's making threatening moves. "Well, now you know." Hatfield answers Kotone, directly, since she was close enough to overhear him mentioning they're escorting a tax collector.
Staren     Reyes, meanwhile, sneaks around to the side of the town hall and looks in. Three people are sitting at a table. A middle-aged bespectacled woman making notes on sheets of paper, talking to a villager while a 20-something man in Dead Boy armor with his helmet off watches. As one of the soldiers out front radios in Rhongomyniad's arrival, the man gets up and approaches the door.
Reyes     Reyes doesn't risk watching through the window long. He ducks away, relying on the fact that he's recording this to do further analysis of who's doing what.

With the Dead Boys all focusing on an increasing group of people circling around them, though, Reyes decides to skeedaddle about in an obtuse and roundabout way to get to a decent angle to approach the distant skull-themed vehicles. The biggest one he can find. If he can get close without being spotted, all he needs to do is reach a hand out to touch it... and he'll will his way into the system and start copying its memory banks wholesale to his personal computers, byte for byte, while scanning it for anything relevant to what's going on right now!
Priscilla     Staren has spoken relatively infrequently about his world in general. It sounds like a patchwork quilt of islands of functionality and vast blankets of shitshows, as far as Priscilla's aware. She'd meant to look into it eventually, but there had never really been a call for it. An opportunity as minor as this one feels a little bit small time --enough for her to hesitate on it anyways-- but it's better than skipping over a bunch of minor operations to then barge in halfway through something big and complicated later.

She is only very distantly familiar with the Coalition States by hearsay. As the literal one obvious non-human in the group that gathers around Longrun, her normal inclination would be to pretty much lean right over and go 'do it fuckboys' if the CS patrol wanted to make trouble, but the fact that lurking around seems to be painting the picture that they're just here collecting taxes really makes her feel like it'd be sort of unnecessary and out of scope to #trigger and harass a bunch of tax collectors for just being there.

Though, that also raises the question of why the TOMORROW LEGIIIOOON cares that much about the CS collecting taxes on their own turf. They crossed the border quite a ways back, after all. Considering that fact, she does the basic courtesy of hanging around invisible (ah, the nostalgia) and watching and listening in from . . . well, like five feet away honestly, but the concept of personal space sort of ceases to exist when nobody knows you're there anyways. She's already bored out of her skull by the time the conversation progresses anywhere. She also checks through the window to see the obvious thing, and it all looks to be in order.

So she fades out of existence and bypasses the door to at least eavesdrop.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa says "A whole stylized death heads thing, I can get that, it's hard to forget that style once you have seen it once."

She notes for a moment she seems to be pretty chill as they are sounding like they are on escort duty from the sounds of it. Kotone normally would be the one trying tp probe into someone's electronics for things but with Reyes around? He's one oft he people she will admit to being better than her at not getting notices.

"So you soldier do a lot of monster hunting? I have done a bit and if it wasn't the slobbering hordes of things would likely overrun a lot of settlements."

She gets hunting demons and monster it's the issues of other mortal races who haven't done anything or non-demonic supernatural who are not spoiling for trouble. Still, no reason to pick a fight right?

She will be as she talks to them shifting into thermal and UV scanning to check out the deadboys in further detail passively and their gear, but so far what they said they are here for seems to be on the level.
Rhongomyniad     The goddess lets out another thoughtful noise, repeating the sentence, "'Protect humanity from monsters and demons.'" After a moment, she reaches up with her free hand. Grasping her helmet, she pulls it up and away, moving it to rest underneath one arm while beholding the soldier before her with those empty, glowing green eyes, "Then we are alike, for it is my duty as the Anchor to stabilize the world of men and drive from it those wicked, vile, or monstrous who would be its undoing. The demonic, the phantasmal, and the monstrous are foes of mine as well."

She did it to try and be more personable. But removing her helmet and showing that she's quite clearly No Longer Human might have been a mistake.
Staren     Reyes's telemechanics... also confirms the story. The transport has stopped at a number of small towns in southern Missouri. Their primary purpose is to remind people that this is CS territory (despite that they don't come here all that often), the taxes is kind of ancillary really.

However, Reyes does get the benefit of some COALITION INTEL. Communications logs indicate two Coalition forces on the move in El Dorado. Some chatter about a rift opening on the border with old Tennessee and going to check it out, and another is preparing to strike the Onyx Logging Camp, a D-Bee settlement that supplies Castle Refuge with lumber. Reyes's bosses will want to know about that! There's also mention of people disappearing along the Missouri-El Dorado border, just hearsay being passed up the chain so someone paid more can decide whether to send Dead Boys to investigate.

Priscilla sneaking inside overhears inane chatter between the tax collector and the villager. The helmetless Dead Boy walks right past her to outside. He's of mixed ancestry, tan skin and close-cropped dark hair, but a look in his eyes that says he's Too Old For This Shit even though he's got to be under 30.

At Kotone's mention of monster hunting, Hatfield replies with vigor, "When I get the chance! The worst monsters are those that look like you and me but consort with dark powers! I've lost good men to those Federation bastards, and I'm gonna kill ten of them for every one of ours!" When King Arthur removes her helmet though, he stares, "Wh...what's with your eyes? Are you--"

At this point, the man walks outside and puts a hand on Hatfield's shoulder. He looks at Rhongo, notes the eyes, but seems to think it's not worth fussing about. "Easy there Corporal." He looks between those gathered. "I'm Sergeant Brandon McAllister, Coalition States Army. Can I help you fine folks?"
Majima Goro Majima Goro has stayed quiet. Not that he's not considering the option of just knockin' these guys's heads for the heck of it, but that doesn't sound like it'd fly well with the bosses.
So instead, he leans against one of the vans for a moment, rubbing his head. Alright. So from what he's gleaning, these guys can't stand anyone with magic, or non-human. That does, on the upside, mean he isn't their problem.
But that chick what just took off her helmet has glowing eyes, and that might be an issue. Someone in charge just came out, and that's worth his attention.
"Ah, don't worry 'bout me, friend." He waves his hand. "I'm just wanderin' round."
Rhongomyniad     Rhongomyniad stares down at Hatfield from astride Dun Stallion. He asks about her eyes, and she shifts her right hand and the Divine Lance held within it, "What stands before you is a divine spirit, the goddess of Chivalry. Fret not; I was once human, as you are." Her gaze lifts when the sergeant enters the conversation. Goro's contribution is noted with a glance, before she settles her eyes upon the soldier with that unsettlingly unreadable face of hers.

"Fear not, Sergeant Brandon McAllister. I bore witness to a curiosity and that curiosity has been satisfied by your man, here."
Staren     McAllister looks slightly confused. Hatfield still has his helmet on. They honestly don't know what to make of her. Humans get mutated and are still human. Humans practice magic and are in league with demons. A human turned into a spirit is, uh... um... what?

Before they can puzzle that out, though, there's a distant rumble of thunder. A few miles to the east, blue-white lightning strikes repeatedly from clouds that weren't there a moment ago. The weather didn't FEEL stormy. Most of the gawking crowd start to focus on that. There's some chatter about people hoping the farm's okay, and the people they know that live or work there.

Reyes's magic sensors indicate there's a huge surge of magic power going on, akin to a ley line storm or a rift. McAllister walks around the corner of the building for a better look, then heads for one of the transport. "Biggs! Wedge! Stay here and keep watch. The rest of you! You're with me. That means you too, Hatfield!" They start piling in to one of the transports.
Majima Goro Majima Goro is about to light up a cigarette as conversation continues. Politics crap. It's always politics crap, 'bout finding out who you're supposed to be fightin 'n why. How is it, that even in a place like this, it always comes down to a bunch of people wavin' plans and conspiracies at each other?
And just as he's about to light it, there's thunder.
"Aiyah." He says, pulling himself off the truck. "...Wha?"
And then everything goes absolutely haywire out of nowhere. The soldiers have started moving. They're getting on the trucks, and Nishida's already driven back by now...these are armored transports, which means they probably can't see out the windows.
Only one thing to do, then. He waits for one of the transports to start moving, and then...moves to hang onto the side. He ain't missing whatever the crap this is.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa scans come up negative the Deadboys have no fancy gear or anything on it and she'll shift back to normal vision and she listens to the deadboy as he talks about she can get that fear. That's a problem on her world a combat borg working for say a terrorist group could pop out of nowhere.

"Just don't lose yourself to it, it might hamper your effectiveness as a soldier."

She pauses at the eyes of King Arthur, Kotone is looking tense thankfully the sarge shows up and prevents what looked like was going to be a fight.

"Just exploring through the warp gates, while keeping an eye out for places I might find some work, I do some monster hunting though I'm better with mechanical work, ground craft and the like. I got to admit the style of your combat armour did get my attention.

The strange weather the Deadboys go into full-on alert mode just as Reyes is having a heart attack on the comms.

She is quick to start heading out herself, in the direction of disturbance there's something to deal with and she should put her money where her mouth is.
Rhongomyniad     Thunder in the distance. Rhongomyniad turns her head towards the disturbance, which has set the soldiers into a flurry of motion. She lifts the Divine Lance's point skyward and brings Dun Stallion about. Her helmet is lifted, slid back over her head in one smooth motion until it clicks into the gorget.

Mist gathers in luminous wisps around the stallion's hooves as the animal braces, then leaps. Magic explodes beneath it in a blue-white flash, hurling charger and rider into a long, low-altitude jump. As it descends, Dun Stallion thrusts its legs down and springs off another Mana Burst, this time casting the rider into a higher but shorter arc.

There's a godawful noise inside the transport when Dun Stallion lands on the roof, legs on either side of the dorsal turret. Astride the horse, Rhongomyniad lifts the Divine Lance, golden light spilling out through the seams of the metal bands that form its shape.
Reyes     Seeing that the CS guys are actually approaching their transport now, Reyes... bites his tongue. Because a lot of things just happened. His magic sensors go wild and...

And he briefly wonders if the CS intends to just BAIL, or if they're serioiusly going to send eight Dead Boys against a COMPLETE unknown. It could be ANYTHING out there. When he sees that some soldiers have been left behind though...

Oh, so this crew actually gives a shit.

Reyes decides he'll hitch a ride on this transport, hopping onto any external surface and engaging Boots of Adhesion to tag along for the ride without wasting a lot of his energy flying.

"Heh. If they're gonna collect taxes, they -better- damned well fight off any monsters. If it's a monster. ... I hope it's not really a blue-skinned homeless musician, I'll have to do something if they go crazy on that occasion..." Reyes murmurs aloud to himself as they presumably head towards the disturbance.

For him, it's not a question of turf, taxes, or anything else. The Tomorrow Legion exists to protect people from otherworldly monsters, and they don't extract taxes or other payment for it.
Priscilla     Even the chitchat indoors is boring. Tax stuff. Small talk. Rural community gossip. The soldiers hardly seem to be anything untoward to Priscilla, nazi armour or not. Soldiers collecting taxes from villagers is . . . that's pretty much how humanity works in her world. It's feudal economics 101. Maybe the Legion is just shocked they'd come this far out. That's fine. It feels like a massive waste of her time though. There's not even any point in talking to these people, for the burden of knowledge it'd immediately start a fight, and then she'd have to kill people for doing their jobs, which she didn't even have a problem with. She withholds a great big sigh and heads back out again when who she presumes is the captain opens the door.

The crack of thunder and the flash of lightning is welcome, at that point, like a first whiff of strong coffee on an exhausted, zombie-like morning. All she'd had to entertain herself with so far has been flat, dry discourse with Reyes over whether collecting taxes here constitutes up-to-no-good. Seeing the troopers actually drive off towards the source of the disturbance, ostensibly to protect the village (and their investment), settles her mind very quickly.

"Ah. Look at that. The Coalition States indeed protecting their own." she concludes, with a tone like a sarcastic glacier.

Without a second thought, she fade steps out, and rapidly traverses ??? to arrive there well ahead of the transport, stepping out to turn her head towards the sky and soak in the sights and sounds of either a rift opening or a leyline storm, according to the locals. This should be good.
Staren     Priscilla teleports to the rift! This is a lightly wooded area with a hill just north of it, and the farm a few hundred feet further east. It's pretty big, at least, she can make out several buildings in the distance so it's not just like one family with a barn and a field. Through the rift she can see a glimpse of ruined, alien-looking buildings on a coastline, with no immediately visible life larger than seagull-like flying lizards with quills on their bodies... until IT steps into view just on the other side of the rift.

It looks like Godzilla's spikier brother! Easily a hundred feet tall, a bipedal creature with mottled green and grey skin, a vaguely saurian head, tiny eyes, and horns and spiky protrusions all over its body. Massive talons adorn its feet and hands, and it has a tail that looks like it could level buildings!

As if that weren't bad enough, there are dozens of man-sized, warthog-wasp creatures buzzing around and occasionally alighting on the kaiju's skin. Symbiotes or parasites, perhaps? It seems to pay them no mind.

The kaiju is, fundamentally, a giant animal that's just found an entrance to sompleace new. It steps through, sniffs at the area, and begins exploring. In the direction of the farm. Every step knocks over multiple trees. Its tail knocks over more, and knocks over the fence on one side of the pasture. Cattle panic and start to escape, drawing the attention of the wasphogs.

Back at the transport, Reyes's and the transport's sensors are the first to pick up the distant sound of monstrous roars. After a couple of miles, everyone can hear it, and the ground shakes regularly. As the group starts to go around a hill directly in the way, they catch sight of the rift and the destruction.

It is perhaps some small saving grace that the denizens have fled pretty quickly, getting into their own vehicles and driving to Anywhere But Here, so at least no people are in immediate mortal danger. Anyone looking for that sort of thing spots vehicle tracks and footprints leading away from the buildings. As for the giant monster itself... Well, the party seems to be beneath its notice at first. It occasionally takes a step, sniffing at the air and investigating its environment -- but it's wandering towards some of the farm buildings and an apple orchard.

Sgt. Mcallister shouts over the chaos, "Listen, regardless of who or what you are... If you're here to save the town, that's what matters right now! We've got to put a stop to this thing!" He and his dead boys lean out the windows to take shots with the laser rifles, and one mans the laser turret up top. A group of a half-dozen wasphogs has spied the transport and are making a beeline for it!
Majima Goro Majima Goro hangs off the side of the transport, as...
A giant spiky lizard full covered in weird-ass bugs steps through a hole in reality. Alright, he thought he had a handle on the kinda crap he was gonna have to deal with. He does not, in fact, have a handle on the kinda crap he is gonna have to deal with. "What the-?!"

That doesn't change the fact he's got to do something, and being completely unprepared for his situation has never once stopped him. Thing is, he can't exactly order the transport to move faster, and--well, the fact of the matter is, he's not sure he can drive it even if he hijacks the thing from here. And if he DID hijack it, what then?

Think, Majima, think!

'Luckily' for him, the bugpig things are coming at the transport. He can't do jack if this transport gets taken out, so he's gotta come up with something, fast. He slowly, slowly climbs to the top of the transport, squinting as he tries to come up with something. This is some crap. This is absolutely some crap. And those bugs are flying towards them.

He stops, one step from getting atop the transport. The bugs are flying towards him. Flying. Giant. Bug pig things. Alright. Y'know what plan sounds great? Cause he knows what plan sounds great. The transport is driving past one of those bugs that's clinging to a cow. He's going to do something incredibly stupid. He's going to leap off the transport, land on one of the bugs, and hope it responds to the shock by flying back to 'Mama'. If not, maybe he'll shiv it just a little.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa is running at full tilt about as fast as a car can go it's clear something is up with her as she keeps only a bit behind the CS transport she sprints for the rift and she sees it soon enough the huge creature what the heck is that thing then it has warthog-wasp things that are human-sized the back part of her brain is screaming kill them in fire, she does not have fire but she does have a lot of ranged options.

She's not even going to fool around with this at all.

The Kaiju is a thing of horror to behind an the waps thing make it only worse for her to behold and she'll call back to the Sargent.

"I hear you, sir."

With that she's got her matter manipulator out and is summoning her chain gun.

The high tech but clearly well-used weapon warms up as Kotone tiny form has no issue carrying it and she'll move to intercept the horde of wasp things heading for the transport the weapon rattles to life spraying high powered rounds and brass now flying everywhere. As Kotone keeps on the move firing the weapon trying to get the Wasp things attention or at least thin them out.
Rhongomyniad     A giant monster. Behind the visor of her helmet, Rhongomyniad's eyes narrow in thought. Various tactics are bandied about, before she decides upon one. Firstly, to direct the beast away from the settlement and its surrounding farms. Dun Stallion crouches, then leaps with another burst of magic right off the top of the transport, just before the gunner's opened fire. Legs swing forward and the horse springs off another burst of magic, soaring higher and further ahead-- And headfirst into the cloud of hog-sized insects.

Bursting out the other side, trailing shards of metal and tattered cape, Rhongomyniad lifts the Divine Lance. From the center of the field below, stones appear, then surge upward in a circular shape-- The turret of a castle tower. Dun Stallion lands on this, then leaps again. A thick castle wall rises next, meeting the warhorse some eighty feet above the ground. As the horse and the King run, wall rises to meet them, presenting a barrier for the great beast.

To further get its attention, so that it pursues rather than simply climbs or breaks through the wall, Rhongomyniad swings the Lance to aim behind herself, unleashing a golden laser directed right at its dinosaurian face.
Reyes     "Oh man, look at THAT thing..." Reyes is now upside-down, still clamped to the transport but now out of the way of anything important. His HUD is going wild with readings thanks to the energies of the rift, but he can see the monster plain as day and quickly reasons out that it's Not Friendly and probably Cannot Be Convinced to Stop.

If these were his allies, he would have long since tinkered with their gear and optimized it for this battle. But the Dead Boys are on their own since the fight's already started, and there's no way he can do much on the fly like this. That being the case, he holds out a hand. A panel on his armor flies open and out comes his revolver - one where the polished metal's covered in strange runes and circuit patterns. The six-chamber cylinder's been modified so that rather than carrying bullets, each chamber has a different spell integrated. He spins the cylinder until a chamber lined with tiny inlays of red zircon line up with the barrel, and the circuit-runes flare with power. An ominous red light shines through the barrel when he pulls the trigger and--

And MASSIVE LIGHTNING BOLTS fly through the distance down to the beast far below. A bolt that will not only shock it, but dance along its surface and fry some of those pesky Monster Bees too!

And he just keeps firing this time after time.

"I hope you MEANT THAT." He shouts, unsure if the commander can hear him, and unsure if he really wants him to anyways.
Priscilla     The Coalition States is not just sallying forth to protect the good (human) people of Longrun, but doing so into the unknown, and ultimately against a giant monster from some distant, alien shore it appears to have already destroyed a long time ago. Priscilla marvels at its size for a moment, feeling its massive tread shake through the ground and into her bones, while taking stock of . . . how does a hog cross with a wasp anyways? until the transport arrives. She waits, watching momentarily, to see what the state troopers do, about finding out they've charged to fight off something like *this*.

Rather than turning tail and running, or standing by and calling for backup, they charge into the fray to fight. Perhaps not terribly wise, but it is admirable, and clearly demonstrates their protectiveness of their fellow man against threats like these, rather than being soldiers only in the career sense. It's satisfying enough for Priscilla.

"Very well. Hunting it is." she says, this time using the open band, feigning having already been here (well, she was) and having come from another direction.

In the spirit of diverting it away from the farms as Rhongomyniad had wished, Priscilla reveals herself, deciding to stretch her legs and *be* her unveiled self at just about 20 feet tall; it's still less than kneecap height to the giant monster, but it's several times easier to inflict big damage to something which has the defense of scale when you have a twisted black and silver scythe a couple of storeys tall.

When she does, a circle of crop land withers and dies around her, a circular wave of plants turning to black ash rippling out from her for several meters on the spot she first exerts her full pressure. The ground ices over the further flora beyond the circle become brittle with frost, now drifting upwards around her as flakes of glittering snow, rising and disintegrating in a slow updraft, following in her footsteps. The natural shadows in the field dance and flicker crazily as she moves, as if their light source is constantly shifting and guttering.

Though, the first thing any Lordran native knows about bossfights is that if it has a tail, you target that first. While the giant castle turret has its attention, Priscilla sweeps right up behind the kaiju, hooks its tail a third of the way from the tip in the crook of her scythe, and then turns and wrenches it through sharply, with tremendous physical force befitting how huge she is.

Chilling, formless fangs sink themselves into the wound invisibly, as a shapeless and unseen something takes hold.
Staren
Majima catches a wasphog by surprise! It starts flying around, trying to shake him off. He starts shivving it. It makes kind of a buzzing squeal noise and careens this way and that before flying back to the kaiju, trying to scraps Majima against some of the spikes on its back!

Kotone blows away a wasp! One down, a few dozen to go. Having seen what she can do, another one zooms in, stinger dripping with poison!

Rhongomyniad decides to get the beast's attention. The lance of light hurts it a little, but it's just... so... big! It roars in annoyance and swipes at her with long talons! But it's not trying to break down the wall.

Priscilla comes in from behind! The scythe doesn't find good purchase this time, but it still cuts a gash in its tail, black ichor seeping out and getting another roar as the tail thrashes wildly at Priscilla, a copse of trees, and another side of the pasture fence!

Lightning shoots down at the beast. It's not actually Godzilla -- though it howls in pain, it has no breath weapon to return fire. However, even though he's far above the wasps, some of them suddenly focus on Reyes, flying up to claw and sting at him from all sides!

Wasps alight on the transport, trying to sting and claw at the deadboys. They seem for the most part to be evenly matched, the wasphogs having trouble getting a clean stab through vehicle and armor, but half-panicked laser rifle fire not being enough to take them out either. McAllister keeps his cool though, calmly shooting through one with a burst, and the guy manning the laser turret fries another one. Hatfield shrieks, "MAGIC!" when he sees lightning tossed down at the monster, followed by disbelieving cursing as what even the heck is Priscilla shows up, but he's got his hands full with wasphog right now.

Majima Goro The Mad Dog of Shimano did not go into his plan expecting it to work, frankly, but doing SOMETHING is a hell of a lot better than doing nothing.
This leaves him atop a wasp pig thing, and just arbitrarily lightly knifing it with his tanto results...in it heading back off to the big lizard.

Holy crap, that worked?

Still, that leaves him with another problem. The wasp is trying to rub him off ON the giant monster, which might, if he's not careful, leave him impaled on the side of a giant monster. That's not exactly ideal.

So he launches himself off the flying bugpig just in time. The good news is he doesn't nail himself on the spikes. The bad news is he still smacks into the side of a giant lizard at high speed, and he's nowhere near where he needs to be to get anything done to this thing.
"...Aiyah. What made me think I know how to climb this crap?" Doesn't mean he isn't going to try, though. Not only does he have spikes as climbing points, he has a knife he can use to try to jam in weak points on his way up as a climbing aid.

Having some two story monster behind him swinging a scythe around isn't making him feel much better about this plan, but he's committed.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa has already been cut up a bit but her armour has held for the most part she does not like the look of these waps thing at all. The fight, as she's got another Wasp Hog going after her and she'll have to move, she shifts at the attack comes just dancing out of the way of the stinger attack, so close she can see the poison dripping off the end.

She'll take a half second line up a shot and fire as it passes by before she turns her own weapon around to fire a second burst at one fo the wasp hogs on the APC.

"The APC is drawing the bugs attention use it to take them out while they are distracted!"

She calls out, she also sees Majima doing some balls crazy stunts that are working against the bugs to boot too she'll need to keep that in mind, as she fires a third burst at another hog wasp.

There's just so many of the darn things it's like fighting some alien horrors she did back when she was still very new in the Multiverse, she does not like those memories. As the battle rages on she has an idea but she needs some more time.

Majima is doing some crazy stunts, Priscilla is clearly out there going for the big monster. Rhongomyniad has gone after the big Kaiju which does not shock Kotone at all the deadboys are still alive in the fight, Reyes is mixing it up as well and she keeps track of this as best she can, as she does not want to clip her allies in this fight after all.
Reyes     One of the wasphogs manages to fling its business end at Reyes when he's taking aim at the creature below... "Crap!" Thankfully, he's on it. A single force of will, and his pre-charged ARMOR OF ITHAN manifests, emerging from sizzling blue circuitry to form a strangely wireframe'd shield of pure energy around him. He's been tinkering with that feature, it seems. The shield now seems to be focusing its power a little more efficiently to repel blows. The stinger doesn't make it to the intended target... however, the armor sparks and sizzles along some of the circuitry, its glow dying somewhat from feedback. The shield won't last under that...

Which is why, with a desperate growl, Reyes summons out his OTHER weapon with another show of telekinesis. A beam saber hilt flies out into his hand and the emitter end rotates along three different spinning points until a number of different crystals line up. A SURGE of power flows through it... and a whitish-blue FLAME erupts from the hilt, bathing the area in a DREADFUL heat. The flame, however, takes the shape of a cylinder and goes no further. It's tightly held in place by some strange force, giving it the look of an energy sword...

And 'energy sword' is basically what it DOES, as Reyes proves when he leaps off the transport and DRIVES the weapon down for one of the beasts, aiming to impale it, then leap off. "TECHNO-WIZARDRY!" He exclaims back at the screaming Hatfield, both defiant and trying to establish his own style.

Because at that point, a number of rigid structures on the back of his armor unfold like beautiful clockwork into the skeletal structure of wings... and then glow with blue white, filling in with blazing energy wings that hold him aloft as he spins around and attempts to BURN the wings off of more of these things with wild swings. A swordsman, he is not. but with a weapon like this, he doesn't need to be.
Rhongomyniad     When struck by giant monster claws, both Knight and Horse go sailing. Rhongomyniad ejects herself from Dun Stallion's saddle mid-air, landing on the wall's parapet with a rattle. The horse sails over the side and disappears before it hits the ground. The King slides to a halt in a shower of sparks, then pushes herself up to her feet. The straps braided around the Divine Lance begin to unravel, dissolving and exposing the gleaming core of the Tower at the End of the World.

At least now she has its attention.

She raises the Lance, causing another turret to rise at the end of this section of wall. With a burst of mana, she hurls herself up to the top of this new battlement. Atop this, the goddess sweeps her lance to one side, then raises it. The exposed Lance shines like a golden beacon, but this isn't the angle she attacks from.

The clouds overhead rumble, golden light gleaming through. If the magical revolver set Hatfield off-- the spike of deific golden light descending from the sky isn't going to do him any favors. Rhongomyniad weilds the Divine Lance like a hammer, in this fashion, intent on smashing the great beast to the ground and perhaps pinning it against the wall she had just created for the others on the ground to lay into.
Priscilla     Giant tail swipe attacks are simple, telegraphed, and straightforward. When the giant monster begins thrashing it around, flattering the landscape and obliterating the tree break around her, Priscilla leaps high over it just as it comes bulldozing through where she'd been standing, clearing it easily at the scale where she is taller than the appendage is thick. Where she launches off, a huge spire of ice chases her from the ground, like water from leaping from the surface as a pond, ideally timed to skewer the wounded tail from the underside as it passes.

Priscilla turns gracefully and lands lightfooted on the opposite side, bouncing on her toes slightly despite her side. Her scythe trails after her, behind her shoulder, and sweeping it low and out to its fullest extent through the rotation, Priscilla brings it slicing along and across the damaged tail length at a speed fit to make the wind shriek and howl, casting off an arc of diamond dust.

Where she strikes, it isn't just the blade cutting hide, but a sort of trigger reaction, like a spark to gasoline, or a current to metal. Though chopping off the tail is a localized goal, in a 'metaphysically sympathetic' sense, it cues a massive surge of seemingly umprompted and completely impossible internal damage to surge up into the creature's body, inexplicable wounds of unknown origin suddenly opening up from within, savaged by an existential toxin that tears lifeblood out through the creature's skin, puncturing organs and bones and splitting hide and muscles on the way out. Even striking the tail is enough to make the giant monster inexplicably vomit blood.
Staren     Majima is, all and all, in a pretty good position? He's away from the fight, and the kaiju can't really HURT him as he climbs up its back, stabbing into it, ichor bleeding from its wounds. There's no way its arms can reach him... But the wasphogs can. One comes in close, eying him curiously and buzzing ominously before it just tries to ram its stinger into his back and try to pull him off the monster with its claws!

The wasp on Kotone turns around and tackles her, raking its limbs across her armor, but soon it goes still, dead from the wounds she's inflicted. For the moment, she's left free to help someone else!

The bugs could never have predicted Reyes. He FORMS BLAZING SWORD and burns off the wings of everything that comes close to him, wasphogs falling to the ground and splatting. Some of them frantically claw and sting as he strikes them, but soon the area around him is clear. A few wasphogs watch him, but they keep their distance, uncertain how to attack.

Priscilla strikes at the heart of the beast, through its tail. She makes some progress on severing it, but it's just. so. big. And also it is full of its own nonsense. An alien being from an unknown dimension, exactly WHY is unclear, but the lifehunt doesn't strike as deep into it as Priscilla expects. It stops moving, and a tremor runs through its body. It roars, ichor dripping from its mouth, and turns its attention on her, its tail whacking painfully into the tower as it tries to step on Priscilla, or at least slice her with the talons on its feet!

And then Rhongymyniad just starts smacking it into the wall she made. It roars and flails in pain and confusion, lashing out with its claws and calling most of the remaining wasphogs to cluster around her, clawing and stinging!

The Dead Boys are making progress -- a couple more dead wasps fall off the transport, and a third when Kotone blasts it in the back, and the transport swerves to avoid some trees only to careen towards the orchard. Driving skill rolls are being made.

Hatfield hates magic more than anything. "People like you killed them!" He fires a burst from his laser rifle up at Reyes, and then McAllister grabs him and there's a struggle inside the transport. So, that's going well.
Priscilla     The monster finally turns to look at Priscilla. This is a mistake. As soon as it lays eyes on her to visually confirm her position, Priscilla bears the ghost of a smile, and then disappears in a puff of drifting frost, now leaving the creature completely to guess where to stomp its foot down. The earth physically rolls with the shockwave around it, knocking trees down like dominoes, and leaving huge fissures where it'd been unable to take the stress and had split apart, but it appears to be a clean miss, having targeted the wrong square.

Having broken line of sight, Priscilla is already moving, and soon, two gaping slashes are levied against the inside of the monster's calves, swinging the point in deep like a pickaxe and aiming for tendons and arteries to carve through on the way out. Flashing between the kaiju's legs, Priscilla leaps to the base of its tail, and unleashes a torrential blast of magical ice breath down its length, blasting away a huge cone of surviving forest behind it, and replacing it with a length of glittering wasteland filled with painted snow and ice formations.
Majima Goro This is not really his thing.
Majima is, somehow, successfully climbing up the lizard's back. He doesn't like it, but it's the only option he's got, and he's actually making good progress. He's just about at the base of the neck, in fact, when...
When wasps attack again. "...Ehh?!" He's not exactly sure how to defend, honestly, he's unable to move particularly well, and there's a stinger that lands right in his gut.
He slips for a moment...before managing to catch and hold onto one of the spikes. "...Ah. ...heh. ...alright. That's how ya' want it.." He says, looking around at the insects swarming him. He's gonna have to come up with something, right? ..especially since that whatever the hell attacking the beast below might just knock him off if he isn't careful.

...Alright. He doesn't feel courageous enough to do anything stupid, especially with that..kinda unfortunate looking wound. Alright. New plan.
Step one, hangover tablets. If it can counteract poisonous alcohol, it can counteract wasp poison, right? That's medicine? Yeah. He's pretty sure that's medicine. Next up, he's going to have to get ready to move. The ex-yakuza swallows the pills with only his saliva, which...isn't comfortable, but he ain't about to drink kaiju blood to wash it down with. That probably DOES kill you.

He starts to hurry up the spikes. He's just gonna outright outrun those wasps, heading straight up to the head.

If all goes well, that tanto is coming around, and he's just going to try to swing around to land on its now, and stab it right in the eye. Right there. With the dagger. If all doesn't, well...

Fuck.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa gets all up close and personal with the waps thing it's just not a happy experience and one she'll be unable to forget with how her cyberbrain works. Once she's clear she's still moving to help pull the Hog Wasps off the APC, given if it can be freed up? Then things go bad with one of the Deadboy and Reyes. There's not much she can do about Hartfield and Reyes right now. The big guns such as Rhongymyniad, Priscilla are going after the big bad huge monsters while Reyes is burning the bugs as well.

She hears Reyes wors and inside she's just wanting to facepalm. She has to worry about taking out more of the bugs, and that's what she's going to do. Majima is just going all out on the monster as well and that's what she catches in all of this madness.

She'll keep on gunning down the bugs till her big gun runs out of ammo she'll banish it back into her matter manipulator as she gets out a different weapon, is that a just as large railgun? Yes, it is.

It's also got quite a few hash marks on it too, Kotone levels the new weapon. Rather than rapid bursts she is doing more controlled shots now firing on the bugs seeking to just get them out of the way to the APC, herself and Reyes can turn their firepower on the thing from the rift.
Reyes     The fact that the Dead Boys were getting into a tussle is exactly why Reyes moved to intercept those Wasphogs and do what he did. Because even though they're political enemies, those soldiers just need time to realize their mistakes... right? Nobody should die today. Except that monster.

And so he'd even shown his back to the soldiers at various points, putting faith in the hope that the CS wouldn't sernd anyone too trigger happy down to a fringe border town.

Unfortunately for him, they did. As he threateningly waves his BLAZING SWORD out at the Wasphogs to ward them back and away from the transport he's keeping pace with... he hears that scream of hatred. "-what--" BAM!

The energy bolt strikes his Armor of Ithan, causing an immediate brilliant flare of clashing energies. The first layer of defense can't handle the blast at such close range being utterly blindsided, and it collapses in a sputtering of magical sparkles. The remaining energy splashes into his armor, burning a nasty scoring across it and destroying some of the circuit-runes. His flight wobbles before fallback systems thrum up... but there's only a few of those!

"People like ME?!" NOW, he's angry. Seething ANGER boils up in the young man's gut. He swerves closer to the transport - though with his weapoon tentatively lowered - and broadcasts over the speakers, "You wanna have it out with me, do it after the town's no longer in danger of getting STEPPED ON. Are you a soldier who's trying to HELP PEOPLE or just some angry dude with a vengeful trigger finger? I'm telling you, magic is a tool. So's fire. Use fire right, you can make great food. Then arsonists go burning houses down. Do you blame the arsonist or the fire?"

Unwilling to stay longer than that, Reyes swoops underneath the transport... and engages FULL SPEED flight, swooping in a long circling strafe as he bring sup his gun. The revolver spews a flurry of scattered fireballs over a wide area, making a spray that's rather difficult for such large creatures to avoid!
Rhongomyniad     Well, she knocked it down. But now the monster's minions have beset upon her once more. The King of Knights raises her free hand to shield her face and the slits of her helmet, as claws and stingers slash and jab at her armor or hook into the seams of joints. Blood is shed, but the woman does not falter.

Her stance shifts, and she thrusts the Lance skyward. A burst of light erupts from around her, scattering the hog-sized wasp monsters around her.

The Lance is lowered, pointed down from the parapet to the monster she'd previously knocked down. Her free hand raises, and the ground around the beast rumbles. Pillars erupt near its body at several points-- near the neck, the shoulder, the hip, and the top of the tail. As these ascend, the wall against which the beast is pressed also extends stonework, forming an arc until it meets those pillars of stone.

Rhongomyniad's spread out fingers close, and the pillars recede--bringing the stone arches down in an attempt to restrain the monster at best. There's a very real possibility of injuring it. She is not being gentle, because she doesn't ... really feel a need to be gentle.
Staren     Priscilla evades and frustrates the beast and slices into its calves, opening more ichor-bleeding wounds! It's just such a chonky boy that this is progress but it's a long way from bleeding out. It clumsily tries to kick her, which is only a threat because it's just so darn massive!

Majima Majimas his way out of deadly alien monster poison and and climbs up to Spiky Godzilla's face and stabs it in the goddamn eye. It roars in pain and flails about, but it can't really do much to him at the moment! On the plus side, all the flailing makes it hard for the wasp chasing him to get a clear attack in. On the downside, if his grip on the thing loosens he could be bashed about between the spikes on its body or even flung off! Fortunately, it's not as far to fall now.

Kotone fires her railgun at the wasps fighting Rhongomyniad! Some bleed ichor, but the fire or the wasps are too spread out for there to be as much damage as anyone would like. The beast's flailing about means she needs to watch out for that tail now!

Reyes bombards the thing with fireballs. There's not much it can do about that! It's scorched, and roaring in pain. Progress is being made -- it's fallen, and noone's going to give it the chance to get back up!

Rhongomyniad restrains its movement. She is not gentle. And neither are the rapidly-diminishing swarm of wasphogs continuing to swarm around her, clawing and stinging!

The Coalition transport crashes into and knocks over an apple tree, splatting the last wasp on the front grille. The vehicle is sturdy and basically unharmed. One of the transport's doors opens and Hatfield tumbles out. "BASTARD!" That man is full of hate. While Reyes is attacking the monster, Hatfield shoots him in the back.

And then McAllister jumps on him, puts his own rifle to Hatfield's head, and executes him, commisar-style. "I don't care. But I've lost enough men to monsters and magicians. I'm not going to lose Coalition citizens today because someone doesn't know when to prioritize! Men, fire at the bees!"

And the dead boys do, laser fire starting to pick off the last wasphogs.
Majima Goro It's not that Majima hadn't considered that a giant monster's response to having its eye sliced with a knife wouldn't be to thrash about a bit.

It's just, at the time, it seemed like a better idea to slice the monster's eye with a knife and then worry a great deal more about how to deal with the repercussions.
The monster's nose flips upwards, and Majima upwards with it. His body twists in midair, and he manages to land again on the end of the nose..before slipping off the side, barely catching onto a nostril with his hands.

It takes him a minute to get back up. Alright. If he's going to get in this thing's grill, he's going to have to be ready to end it, or he's going to get himself flung onto the ground and mushed like a fallen piece of takoyaki.

"..how'm I gonna get down when this thing topples anyway?" He says to himself, before looking at the giant monster's eye. Really. Really looking at it.

And that's when his grin gets a little manic. Alright. Let's amp up the crazy just a bit.

Out comes a can. It is a fine can. It is an excruciatingly expensive can, labelled 'Tauriner Maximum'. He's going to need a safe place to hide once this thing comes down.

The can is downed, smashed into his face like he's crushing a beer can. Caffeine, some weird vitamins, and all kinds of crap one needs to perform superhuman acts. Then he draws the Tanto, and points it at the giant monster.
"Eh, you jealous of my sweet eyepatch? Well. Lemme show you how I got it!"
He rushes up the nose, hopefully avoiding any wasps that might feel like interfering. And then, if all goes well, a long, solitary swipe just across the kaiju's corner, through the iris and maybe even the pupil.

And should all of that work out..he's going to climb inside that eye.
Rhongomyniad     With the beast restrained, Rhongomyniad turns her attention to the minions still buzzing around her. Moths to the flame of her divine aura, as it were. The stone should hold for a little bit, at least. And so she raises the Divine Lance overhead when the bees come in at her again. The tower roof upon which she stands descends suddenly, taking the King of Knights with it. The ceiling then re-forms, closing in any waspig monsters that dove in after her. The roof-turned-floor stops, but Rhongomyniad continues on a single block which is quickly replaced.

The floor then rises back up to meet the ceiling, giving insect monsters the only fate they truly deserve.

Moments later, a door forms on the side of the tower, exiting out onto the wall, and it is here that Rhongomyniad emerges.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa has worked with the Imperium she has seen Commissars in action and Hatfield life is over the Sarg gives his orders to keep fighting and Kotone is mentally floored by what happened she's going to keep fighting even in all this chaos and the wasps are being thinned out bit by bit. The bugs need to go down so they can turn the end she's so distracted by what played out? She doesn't see the tail until it's just about too late.

She starts to move but damn she takes one heck of a hit and goes flying she'll skip across the ground losing hold of her rail gun there is also a bit of crunching soun as she goes through a /tree/.

Kotone is back on her feet after a moment finding the railgun is out of reach for the moment she's going to have to make due with the assault rifle which is still on her pack, she takes that weapon and keeps up her remaining firepower focused on the Hog Wasps, she'll worry about what else has happened and it's sobering to think the warning she gave did come to pass.
Priscilla     With the giant creature on a stomping rampage, Priscilla slides free and runs tight loops around its thunderous footfalls, leaping from the edge of each blast of sheer physical pressure and leaving parting gashes, bleeding cuts, and shredded muscles in her wake. Loud, bell-like clangs and flashes of white sparks appear where flying debris contacts something metal in mid-air, so much shrapnel being sprayed back and forth that just being impossible to see won't keep Priscilla out of it all, but she remains there, bleeding, weakening, aggravating the beast, for a specific reason.

"Though art certainly the bravest man of the Yakuza I hath ever met." she crackles through the radio, shortly before planting the scythe deep on its head, hopping to the protruding haft, and launching off from there for tremendous height, looking to snatch a spined handhold on the way up, flash her dagger into her hand at the apex of her overhead swing from it, and then land at the base of the monster's neck to grapple it by the spines and slit its throat, albeit shallowly, with the curved blade. Deep, impossibly frigid cold floods in from such a wound, piercing into the veins and spreading through the blood, turning it to ice, and ideally crippling both its ability to move and its physical hardiness.
Reyes     Getting shot at AGAIN from the angry, screaming soldier gets a VERY deep growl from Reyes. But this time, he's ready. With a surge of renewed energies, his Armor of Ithan returns to life, the wireframe shield absorbing the blast as it powers back up. It sizzles and glows heatedly for a bit, but his protection IS renewed!

Still, his decision is... to get further away from the transport. He spins about to do this, but before he can kick in full speed---

A glance over his shoulder shows exactly what's going on. .... Reyes flinches rather visibly in the air, whole body shivering. He doesn't know what to say. He can only hang his head and shake it disappointedly.

The horrors of war are on full display today.

Looking not at all pleased with this development, Reyes just sadly swoops AWAY from the Dead Boys, heading instead down towards the Kaiju and slashing at any Wasphogs that happen to get near the head and--

"...Grosssssssssssssssssssssssssssss." Is that random dude he's never seen before -REALLY- trying to GORE his way into the creature's BRAIN through an EYE?! Using nothing but a plain ol' KNIFE?! ... which, crazily enough, seems to be working out for him. "Y... you.... you keep... doing what you're doing, pal..." Reyes stammers out over the speaker, only to then whip out a weirder-looking weapon with a big fat short stubby barrel. He takes aim down, down at the Kaiju's feet and...

    *GWOP GWOP GWOP*

Big BLOBS of blue energy are fired down... but they unfurl, eventually, spreading out into long glowing nets that try to gum up the creature's footwork. They'll bind both to it AND the ground - never mind it being loose dirt - making it nearly impossible to move. Whether this thing can pull free with its prodigious strength is another story, though...
Staren     King Arthur lures in the wasp-hogs. Her architecture catches one and crushes half its body -- the others lured in are easy prey for the Coalition's massed laser fire and Kotone's bullets.

Reyes GWOPs the monster in place. Combined with Rhongomyniad's retraints, it's not going anywhere.

Majima has a hell of a gauntlet, crawling along the spiky face, dodging the wasp, and trying to reach the eye again while the giant monster flails about under him. Then Priscilla slits its throat, and cold slows it, not quite freezing it in place... but giving Majima a clean shot at SLITTING ACROSS IT'S ENTIRE EYEBALL AND CLIMBING IN WHAT THE FUCK. The last wasp stops its chase outside the eyeball, not sure what to do. The beast gives a gurgling roar as a crazed yakuza practices kaiju brain surgery.

After a moment, its head goes still. The last wasp also just sort of... collapses, as if it can't function without the great beast.

The rest of its body continues to sort of flail around for several minutes, but its not going anywhere, and it lacks the coordination to escape its restraints.

The coalition troops get their transport off the tree and load Hatfield's body inside. McAllister approaches the group.

"Plainly... we could not have stopped that thing ourselves. I appreciate your help, whatever some of you are, you saved our citizens' lives today. But I have orders. I will... look the other way while you're here, and not mention that we were helped by a D-Bee and a... Techno-Wizard and a... spirit in my report. ...Thank you." He bows his head briefly.
Majima Goro Technically speaking, Majima Goro is ex-yakuza.
As the kaiju drops to the ground, Majima's gambit works. Sure, the lens is a bit rough, but he can kinda just nestle in the cornea, and other phrases that nobody ever really wanted to hear, at any time, for any reason. Kinda has to hold his breath, though.

The primary advantage of this is that he's cushioned from the blow, and doesn't immediately turn to a fine red paste as a monster collapses from a hundred feet on high.

Once the collapse seems to finish, and the rumbling stops, Majima has an idea. His clothes are already going in the wash for a while. A very, very, long while. If he ain't comin' out of this smellin' like roses, he might as well take advantage of his situation. The tanto's retrieved again, and...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLCOTpjBGcs Here, you can have this instead of what's going on. You're WELCOME.

The important point is, an ex-yakuza stands, covered in goo, just down by the fallen monster's nostril. He cannot begin to shake himself clean.
Priscilla     When Priscilla gets done hecking the monster up for the next several minutes, slicing it to pieces, exploding all its blood, and flash freezing its painful bits, she reappears back in her close-as-it-gets-to-mortal guise, and makes sure to stop by and help excavate Majima from the optical canal and probably brain, apparently completely at home with the level of absurd gore the 'Mad Dog' has involved himself in.

Her reaction to McAllister, more or less just passing by him, is a brief, chilling, sideways glance from her slitted eyes, and then something of a 'made the correct choice' half-smile at the edge of her lips. "Of course. This territory is thine own. It is foolish to reject offered aid in an emergency, but just as foolish to assumeth the enemy of thine enemy is thine friend. Continue to keep such wisdom close to thine heart, and thou shalt do well." She's entirely okay with an I-Saw-Nothing approach rather than getting into a fight over it.

Specifically, she's going to spend a bit chopping off the giant monster's head and transporting it to preserve and hang up on a wall at home. Show off to Ornstein. Unveil it at the Citadel Palace as an excuse for a minor social event.
Rhongomyniad     "Sergeant Brandon McAllister," Rhongomyniad announces. The section of wall upon which she stands descends like an elevator-- placing the King of Knights at ground level with little delay, "There are yet shining slivers of chivalry within your heart." The gleaming core of the Divine Lance pulses. Bands of steel materialize just past the tip, winding and braiding together as they work up the light until it is once more fully encapsulated.

"Cultivate this and you shall continue to be a fine man and a fine leader." Her helmet shifts towards the transport and presumably the man who was executed for insubordination. Only a thoughtful noise escapes the King of Knights before she turns her attention to the corpse of the deceased Kaiju. Her free hand raises, fingers spread, and the castle architecture begins receding back into the ground from whence it came. Only when the beast's bonds are fully absent does she speak again.

"A successful kill with this much meat shall be a bounty. I shall contact Archer at once."
Reyes     DOWN goes the monster, with Reyes deciding to come swoop down and land to go check out if the guy who climbed into the eyeball is OKay. He's brought out some gadgetry that look like a gold-plated laser pointer with a funny rose quartz focusing lens.

Before he can quite pull that off though, McAllister's getting close. Reyes... shudders again. And then, oddly enough, removes his helmet and tucks it under an arm. His expression is... twisted up with mixed feelings, shock, disgust, and some disbelief among them. "... maybe... maybe I shouldn't've told that guy off. You wouldn't've had to... ugh. ... my name's Reyes. I've gotta wonder how many others in your position are taking that approach for incidents like this. We oughtta all be working together..." But, obviously, that ain't happening anytime soon.

Still, he sucks in a breath and gives a grateful nod to the commander, returning that bow. Then promptly seals his helmet back on.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa lowers her weapon as the last of the wasps drop, she will shoulder hr weapon and go to recover her rail rifle with the intent to make sure the thing is dead but the creature is clearly down and dying at this point. This thing would have rampaged all over the place when she thinks about it and is glad it's stopped also Majima's own stunt just has her kind of staring at him for half a moment.

She'll put her weapon back into storage and will go to join the group as it gathers she looks to McAllister for a moment nodding.

"I understand and you are welcome."

It hits her this is the sort of stuff any civilized group on this world has to deal with. She accepts the thanks and can only guess how hard it is, there's nothing preachy out of her mouth as she looks at the remains.

"Going to need to clean this up, who knows what it rotting out here could go.

"Damn your good."

She notes at the stunt he pulled and she'll help with clean up be it BBQing it, burning it or whatever. She's a human cyborg so she's got some more leeway to linger with the cleanup.

"I'll lend a hand cleaning this up if you have no objection and I'm a cyborg if your wondering."
Majima Goro Majima Goro finally settles on scraping the goo off as best he can by gently abrading the knife against the jacket, sweeping downwards. Same for the pants. Gonna absolutely need to shower for something along the lines of several hours. And, also, not in his own shower. He doesn't want this anywhere near poor, old, Kamurocho plumbing.
He shrugs as Kotone compliments him. "Ya do somethin' stupid, ya gotta see it through. That's life." He wipes the knife clean on the grass, before sheathing it.

"So, that the crap we normally gotta deal with? I'm kinda more a 'bunch of idiot goons in an office buildin' kinda guy, but I'll manage."

SUBSTORY END
Reyes     "If ONLY it was that simple, we'd have the whole 'save the world' thing licked in no time." Reyes laments over at Majima.
Staren
Sgt. McAllister just nods slightly to Priscilla and Rhongomyniad. He sighs as Reyes brings up what just happened. "I've been on the front lines against ...monsters for years. I've seen... people who were our enemies perform acts of heroism. But I have to focus on keeping our citizens and my men safe, one day at a time." He looks away, but speaks to those still here. "...Perhaps, if I hear of a problem like this in Missouri again, the information could... happen to leak to where you can hear it." He nods to Kotone, then returns to his transport to radio back to Biggs and Wedge what happened, and set up a search party to find the fleeing farmers, and get villagers to track down the escaping cattle, and all that jazz.
