Haguro After six long months, reconstruction has been completed! The resort town is looking like... Well, like a rebuilt resort town. There's fresh coats of paint on everything, although the buildings are more wide than tall compared to how they were last time, and a lot of the homes and market stands have a more modern/plasticy aesthetic. They're quite clean, at least, and the markets are stocked with all sorts of fresh fruits and vegetables, and the new town center at the pier looks like it could easily function as a theater for all sorts of fun events and games for tourists and locals alike.

Today's main event: A heated debate between two opposing groups of rather dodgy-looking sailors. It's not a particular wordy debate, though, as both teams of sailors have abandoned the need for things like podiums and microphones in favor of yelling at each other from behind overturned benches and hurling obscenities from behind military-grade guns.

At least nobody's shot each other yet.

The keyword is yet. It's hard to say whether Haguro's presence there is helping or hindering matters, considering that she has her own turrets trained on the two groups while each group has their guns pointed at her and their opposite. The tension is incredibly high at the moment, and the slightest spark could set off a bloodbath right there.

The townsfolk not in the immediate area are watching from a safe distance, at least, although they're most definitely watching from inside their homes, eager to see just what comes out of whatever triggered this in the first place.
Shigure     A pair of figures appear over the horizon out to sea, a black-haired and a blonde haired girl skating along with a rooster tail behind each of them. Their weapons are set safe, but the look of concern on Shigure's face is unmistakable. She was here last time... but hopefully, this time things will turn out different. For the innocent peoples sake at the very least.

Yuudachi's red eyes scan the pier and the three parties in a mexican stand-off, though they're too far away to say anything, or hear anything apart from unintelligable shouting.
Majima Goro Against one of those fine brand new resort walls is a man with an eyepatch. He leans, one leg crossed over the other, one hand holding the cigarette in his mouth.

Majima starts to laugh as the sailors start to flip benches, and scream from behind guns. "...Ehh? Hahaha. What's this crap even about?"

He steps forward, before pausing. It would be incredibly unwise just to walk inbetween the lot of them like an idiot and ask them what was going on.

A beat.

Majima practically swaggers inbetween the two groups of sailors, standing right between the guns. There's a crack of his neck. "....Eh? You all gonna fire your guns and ruin this town ya just rebuilt?" He asks. The cigarette is flicked away. Instead, he tosses a mandarin orange between his hands. "...Cause I wanna try some o' the restaurants here, and I can't do that if ya idiots blow it all up again."
Note     Distress calls sent out to whoever and whatever, whenever, are perhaps of questionable intelligence. Because there's always the chance of drawing someone who has NO IDEA what the hell is going on, but can get there REALLY FAST anyways.

Such is the case for the girl - who couldn't be much more than 12 or 13 - who comes... FLOATING down out of the sky in the exact middle of the group. She doesn't seem the least bit frightened about the possibility that someone might shoot her! Nor does she come off like a local at all.

For starters, a fuzzy brown tail sprouts from her rump, and it's swishing about freely as she turns this way and that to get a more on-land view of the problem....

"Do... do you guys really need all these guns...?"
Staren     "Of course they need all these guns, this is the Multiverse. There's dangerous people out there." Staren points out, flying in on a broom, then hopping off it and stuffing it in a bag too small for it. "Alllright." His voice is amplified by speakers in his armor. "What are you all pointing guns at eachother over?"
Kalia     ~Vwoop.~

There is a spoopy goast floating by Haguro.
The ghost adjusts their scarf, glowing black and white eyes shifting from Haguro to the sailors, then back to Haguro.

"Oh. Is this a bad time? We can come back."

The gaze turns to the sailors, piercing through skin to see everything underneath. "Or we can help, of course. It'd be easier if there was only one group vying for control, right?"
Sumiko Mikoto sipping on a soda near Majima shrugs at him.  The standoff was just one of those things she couldn't figure out, like seriously.  All this effort went into rebuilding the town, and they're ready to tear it all down because...?  A disagreement?

Well, because people want to point guns at each other, Mikoto decides a swift course of action is needed.  With a flash of ~Magical Girl Energy~, she is now well, a magical girl.  A jade sword comes to her hands, as she thrusts the blade into the ground again, causing spikes of jade to shoot from the ground in front of each group of people pointing guns at the other.

"Hey, guys!  I'd really like to enjoy this nice beach area without having to worry about lead poisoning!  Can we probably de-escalate this down from a twelve to a four?  That'd be nice!"

Of course, spoopy ghost by Haguro gets her attention.  Oh god.
Midway     A black shape disturbs the water out to sea, some distance from shore. There's a shudder on the dock, as if something bumped into it, and then a ghastly pale figure rises up from the seaward side. Clad in a black hoodie, teeth bared in a wide shark-toothed grin, Re-Class plants her hands on the dock's railing, leaning over it and putting her weight on it despite that muscular tail being the clear culprit holding her up.

Pink eyes drift from Kalia and Haguro to the groups of pirates and the Perfectly Ordinary Japanese Businessman amidst them, "What's goin' on? Looks like it's about to get fun."
Haguro The two far out at sea, thankfully, don't catch the attention of those at the town center/pier. They're much too busy staring at each other, waiting for someone else to make the first move. The appearance of several more figures does have the two groups of sailors distracted, at least, although the fact that Majima is the first one grabbing their attention may or may not be such a blessing.

On theplus side, maybe they'll hire him to rebuild it later if things go way south.

"I think it was about money or something." Haguro speaks up finally, looking from one side at the sailors in blue towards the other side at the sailors in slightly lighter blue. One of the lighter blue sailors actually manages to yell back in response above the din of general yelling, both directed towards Majima and Note as the rest of the crews gawk at the latter and Staren just sort of... Floating there.

They still might not be used to people that can fly.

"We're the ones that got us these guns in the first place... Why shouldn't we get the bigger cut?!"
"Because you're the dumbasses getting everyone's attention! If ya stuck to the routes, we wouldn't need these guns in the first place!"
"Yeah, because stickin' to the routes really helped when that crazy white bitch shot us up last time!"

Haguro's jaw remains rather stiff at that last part. As the two groups continue shouting barbs at each other (something about routes, raids, and renegotiations), the Cruiser turns her head slowly to Kalia as she appears out of nowhere. "Eh? It's.. Um. Slightly bad? Although... One group. That's..." She opens her mouth, closes it for a moment, then nods slowly as she spots Mikoto appearing with her own flashy entrance. "You're right... Both of you!" It seems she's getting fired up for some reason, and Haguro lowers her arms (and weapons) as she straightens up.

"I have an announcement!" Neither of the bickering groups listens, of course, until she raises one hand to fire a loud burst of anti-air flak into the sky above her. It's flashy, and it's enough to get their attention even if it means having all those guns trained on herself once again. "Y... You clearly haven't learned anything from the last time I was here, so there's only one option left to me. I, Haguro, welcome you as an outpost of the Luthan Navy!"

Some confused looks get exchanged, and then those guns get aimed once more as the sailors look terrified all of a sudden. The Cruiser looks rather confused by that reaction, glancing around a few times before noticing that they're not aiming their guns at her. No, they're aiming at the Re-Class as she just comes strolling along!

"It's... It's that crazy white bitch!"
"No, you dumbass! Her tail's in a different spot!"
"Who cares where it is?! Just shoot her!"

That's one way to unify the townspeople (sort of). They start firing on Re-Class, in turn causing Haguro to fire back at them, and they start firing on Haguro in turn. Anyone standing too close to her might be caught in the crossfire as well!
Staren     "Geeze, what's a Hand of the Concord have to do to get somebody to TALK to him?" Staren complains. He pulls out an SMG and fires the shock gel bullets and underbarrel foam missile launcher at the two sides. "If you won't talk to me now, you can talk to me from a cell!"
Shigure     Shigure spots Re-class hauling herself out of the water, gestures to Yuudachi and the pair lean forward to get all the speed out of their engines that they can. The rooster tails spike up, and the pair approach the pier, leaping up on the momentum to come crashing down, cracking the concrete. The pair pull cannons from their back and hip, respective of Shigure and Yuudachi. "Yuudachi, suppress Re-class, drive her off, but do not engage the humans. There are innocents around and any stray fire might injure someone." the black-haired girl says to her blonde companion, before the pair open fire on Re-class with light caliber weapons, tracer fire spitting from little nests on their rigging and equipment. "Re-class! We have unfinished business."
Majima Goro Alright.

This is somethin'. Majima goes from what was about to be a pretty enjoyable potential tussle where he got to maybe take on a bunch of burly pirate morons, to a cluster involvin' his boss, a monkey, three girls who are also boats cause that's a thing? And Mikoto's here. Wow. Everythin' goes to pot real fast 'round here when it does.

The snakeskin jacket is gripped in one hand, and tossed...somewhere. We don't care where it went. Majima's tattoo doesn't glow magically, but, y'know, it's a pretty decent Hannya demon rendition. He's got some pink fire flaring up, and the man starts to dance to an unseen rhythm.

While he can't arbitrarily fire at everyone, he can just pick whatever group of pirates doesn't contain the monkey, and then try to both dance around the gunfire, /and/ kick a bunch of sailors in the face so they can't operate their massive artillery guns. That seems like a great idea.
Sumiko And then it all goes to hell in a handbasket.

Mikoto sighs, and really does not appreciate the hostility in the air.  More than that, she does not appreciate people shooting guns at people...and the obvious thought of someone ending up on the ground bleeding...

She gets a bit ill but shakes off the feeling and draws the blade up.  In a flash of STOLEN SONIC SPEED, she attempts to zip across the battlefield, attempting to cut weapons in various ways, trying to damage them so they would be either unreliable or unable to fire.  She ends the run by standing next Haguro.

"Well, you tried, looks like it's not going to be easy.  So what's the plan?"
Note     And that went from tense to UTTERLY RIDICULOUS in less time than it takes to enjoy ten breaths! Note hits full PANIC. ALL THE NOISE. All the people she hadn't expected! It's utter chaos and so she does the smartest thing she can think of.

GTFO of there, full throttle. Her body simply FREEZES in place and a swirl of sand's kicked off in a random direction. Bullets go flying and some of them even strike Note?! ... No, they don't strike Note. they go right through Note, who seems to be frozen in place!

Until one blinks, and realizes she wasn't even there. Just some trick of the eyes...?!

Note is, in fact, now fifty feet in the air, floating as if this is utterly natural, and scratching her head puzzledly at the CHAOS unfolding down below. "These guys are really ticked off! Maybe I should just leave this one alone."
Kalia     "Of course we're right," Kalia states simply. "If there's only one side, there's no conflict. Of course, you have to get to that point first."

Everyone opens fire. Things are well on that way to that point, then! How convenient.

Kalia shifts in and out of existence - flickering, their body appears by Re-class instead of Haguro, and just as they seem about to greet her, Shigure opens fire.

The demon adjusts their scarf, caught in the wind of those shells. What a bother. They flicker in and out again.

    Right back to Haguro.

An admiral's cap materializes out of darkness, Kalia plopping it down onto Haguro's head. "We like that side of you. Finally taking decisions. But to be worthwhile recruits, they should present you with a champion. Someone to stand out from this chaff. Right?"

Kalia reaches out. Surely, one of those sailors must be especially receptive to betraying his comrades and joining Haguro. One of them must desire the power to change their status enough.
Midway     Re-Class' appearance and bright sharky smile are met with numerous small arms pointed at her. Pink eyes blink, expression going neutral-inquisitive for a second, "Huh?"

Bullets are unloaded on the abomination, her surprise lasting just a bit longer under fire. Oily black ichor splatters out in the occasions where a round manages to pierce her skin, and the tiny battleship tilts her head forward. The gesture casts her eyes in shadow, save those brightly glowing pink irises and the wisps of glowing mist seeking from the corners. Her lips curl into an unnaturally wide grin filled with interlocking, jagged teeth. She puts her full weight on the dock, so that her tail can swing up and arc over behind her like the skull of a dragon, its cannons swinging forward, foam drooling from the corners of that monstrous maw.

"If you wanted to ~PLAY~, you only had to ~SAY SO~."

No sooner has Re shifted from 'playful' to 'PLAYFUL' is she struck from behind by light calibur airburst rounds. The way she whirls around is more animal than human, arms raised, fingers spread, glowering under one sleeve rather than over it due to a hunched posture.

The battleship's monstrous tail likewise whirls about, disgorging a mouthful of torpedoes into the water. It then whirls back on the groups, but there's a delay caused by Yuudachi's attack and Re's response to it-- she hasn't started shooting at the actual humans attacking her yet.
Haguro Staren's specialized bullets work wonders against the sailors, bringing several of them down in mounds of foam and leaving others jittering in place from the shock. As impressive as those guns of theirs might be, it's clear that they still haven't invested in stealing any actual protection. Considering the rifles and rocket launchers they're bringing to bear, they wouldn't really need it. Also, they're bringing out rocket launchers and firing them up at the man on the broom. Fancy that. They're not heat-seekers, but they're still plenty explosive and backed by full-auto gunfire.

Fortunately for Shigure, her desire to avoid injuries to the innocents is already somewhat satisfied! The bystanders are still watching the goings on from the (relative) safety of buildings rather than just crowding around, but they definitely aren't going to MISS the spectacle going on even if it means the risk of going blind or getting hit by stray rockets or bullets.

There's still some sense of home-defense in their minds, at least, as the explosives are largely fired at the fliers, although some of them do zip by Majima once they realize that the madman is breakdancing into them and kicking several of them in the face at once. At that range, those who are still conscious swap their guns out for machetes and hatchets, and the braver ones among them try to carve the shirtless man up despite those wild kicks!

The gunfire does come down somewhat noticeably, though, as Mikoto's runthrough cleaves several of those military-grade weapons in half. A few of the particularly unlucky sailors lose some fingers when they try to fire anyway, but several others are soon advancing on the magical girl and Haguro with their own melee weapons. "I was afraid this wouldh appen... Try not to kill anyone if you can! I'll need them alive to rehabilitate them and put their energy to better use."

It seems Haguro's still intent on annexing this place. As she starts punching people out left and right, the path of the bullets continues past where Note was as the Saiyan takes to the sky. Unlike the rest of the almost everyone, she hasn't moved in to attack the sailors yet. She can easily see that their attention is focused on the Elites rather than each other now, and those that aren't busy tangling with the Elites are focusing their fire on Re-Class. Some of them get confused when she just takes those hits without so much as flinching, but their fear is evident and fully justified as the Battleship brings out the big guns.

"Oh shit oh shit... M-maybe that chick's right. Hey, we'll join you! Just save us from that!" One of the sailors shouts in a panic, not even noticing that the Abyssal hasn't actually fired on any of the sailors yet. The fact that she's only shooting at Shigure thus far is still more than enough to get a few of them starting to buy into Haguro's offer, but that only draws the ire of those that hadn't taken her up on that. The shouting grows louder, and Haguro barely flinches when that cap drops onto her head shortly after she tosses another sailor aside.

"Decisions...? Oh. R-right. This place does need to reform, so if anyone's going to do it, it... It should be me, after what happened last time. If their champions are their leaders, then maybe..." Haguro taps her chin lightly, surveying the absolute chaos that the town has been engulfed in between everyone shooting/swinging at just about everyone. "Maybe they'll be more willing to listen once they're defeated."

Surely that won't go badly at all, right? No, it does rather quickly. The in-fighting grows worse between the blue and lighter blue forces, two in particular (one from each group) getting particularly violent as they manhandle their own former allies. Is it from their hopes of being noticed as worthy to join the Cruiser, or is it some outside force's influence?
Shigure     Yuudachi was fully expecting an incoming volley of torpedoes. But knowing they're coming, and actually dodging them, especially the jabberjawing horrormouth explosives the Abyssals use, is another thing entirely. She jinks, shoots one out of the air as it jumps at her... then gets grabbed by another one, the detonation sending her flying onto the pier and skidding to a stop near the dark-blue sailors. Her rig is a wreck, her uniform torn and black 'blood' leaks from various cuts, before her fairies manage to patch the breaches... with what look like metal bandaids. "Even if I have to use a hammock for a sail. I'll keep fighting!" she announces, picking herself back up, tossing her wrecked rig aside, and drawing her short blade before charging at Re-class again, a similar look of pure bestial fury on her face, like a mirror image of the Abyssal.

Shigure, meanwhile, jinks out wide of the torpedo spread, and with a flick of a wrist, sends her own spread back at Re-class, like throwing knives, following up with more airburst shells, and tracer fire, before lobbing some of her main battery shells to cover Yuudachi's approach.
Note     And as events unfold and Note has a moment to breath and survey the situation, talk with some people she knows... she comes up with a plan of action.

If all the sailors are down and can't fighjt the battle will stop and she can sort things out!

And so... she moves once again with mind-bending speed that surpasses what the human eye can follow. She simply *BLINKS* out of sight, effectively vanishing from common view....

However, she is certainly NOT GONE. The beach becomes HELL for the ordinary men with their ordinary guns, as a whirlwind they can't even SEE starts giving them... problems, to say the last.

Because Note's dived down there, and she's bending gun barrels out of shape, KICKING them out of people's hands, delivering carefully-restrained elbow strikes to solar plexuses, spinning flip kicking some dudes into other dudes, and otherwise knocking them around like they weigh nothing and move slower than a doped-up slug. Bam, whack, thwack, crash, crack. It's just a whirl of impossible motion!
Sumiko Mikoto just places a hand over her head and then runs it up to her hair.  Her blade comes back over her shoulder, giving the approaching sailors a glare as they start getting ready for fight night.  Shaking her head she takes a step forward.

"Yeah, I hear you.  I'm not a bloodthirsty person, but seesh...these guys are dumb as hell!" She complains, before walking towards the first guy who is getting too close to her...

And kicks him as hard as she can between the legs.  The sword comes down over her shoulder as she stares at the remaining people.  "Seriously, are you that brain dead?  Stop firing guns and start using your words like normal, intelligent people.  The next person who steps up on me or Haguro without the intention of either challenging her like a leader or to talk like an adult gets the same treatment."

However, the sword turns edge first towards the closest guy.  "Except I use this."
Majima Goro There we go. Majima doesn't like 'giant artillery guns'. Men with a bunch of guns also aren't exactly his thing. When they swap their guns out for machetes and hatches and the like...

Now he's happy. He rears his head back, cackling like a madman.

"Neheheh! Now we're talkin' my business! Come get your heads cracked, dumbasses!"

First, the main thing to do is to bust himself a path out of there. As they advance, he crosses his arms, taking a strange sport of pose with his fingers splayed...

Before he's upside down, spinning around in a circle. This time, though, he's beating a path to the edge of the group he's found himself in the middle of, barring one man. One man between Majima and not being utterly surrounded by swords. He's not the Dragon of Dojima, he can't just stand there and take that punishment.

That man, Majima stalks up to. This poor man probably has a family. Majima...presses his open hand to the man's mouth. Well, mostly open. His hand, you see, contains a single mandarin orange. Reasonably ripe. Got it from one of those stalls over there. Then, there's a push forward on the chest and a leg sweep, throwing the man down to the ground.

That sweeping leg comes around again, steel-toed boot swinging down to smash the orange in that guy's mouth until orange juice explodes everywhere in glittering citrus glory.

...And as he turns around to face the rest of the sailors... He brandishes a salt shaker. "NEEHEEEEHAAAAAAAA!"
Staren     Staren had put the broom away. When they return fire, Staren's not really concerned... until he sees the rocket launchers. Suddenly he's flying around on wings of energy, surrounded by a forcefield. He has to focus on dodging the rockets, and while one bullet's effect on his forcefield is negligable, the sheer volume of fire adds up -- and the forcefield is particularly bad at dealing with constant or rapid impacts, so it rapidly shrinks, layers breaking into some kind of energy dust and falling. So Staren changes tactics and dives into the water, dropping the forcefield and making himself a difficult target.
Midway     Facing the men once more, Re-Class lowers her hands, fingers splayed and curled like the talons of a predatory bird. Her smile is uninterrupted, eyes aglow while her tail brings itself around to those immediately interested in shooting at her. Those selfsame men who start begging to be saved from the battleship they provoked in their panic.

One of Shigure's shells explodes against the side of that monstrous tail's head, knocking it aside just as it fires. The shell sails wide, blasting a crater into the beach an arguably safe distance away.

Let's just add that to the Intimidation pile, even if it (like everything else Re's doing) wasn't intended for just that purpose.

But Re has changed her priorities. Sailors with small arms and machetes just aren't as appealing as two high octane ships, even if one of them is already damaged. With a laugh, the Abyssal battleship hurls herself off the dock and into the water, pouncing Yuudachi like some great predator. Leading with her hands and that broad grin, her tail's attention fixates on Shigure in the distance, discharging shells from the secondary batteries fitted to either side of its mouth.
Kalia     The sailors are scared of Mama's Little Monster.
Enough that they'd join another Abyssal over it.

Kalia raises their arm, and their essence flows outward like a black ride. It surges into one of the sailors, who drops his weapons suddenly.

He seems to grow a whole foot. A large cutlass, pitch black, less a weapon painted black and more a literal lack of light in the shape of a sword, forms in his hands, two-handed and massive. A darkened aura forms around him.

The maddened sailor becomes HAGURO'S CHAMPION.
Driven by a desire to prove himself.
To improve his station and rank.
To seize the opportunity a mutiny presents.

He swings his blade like a typhoon, attempting to strike every other sailor around him. The wounds fester - those struck rot rapidly, turning into empty husks within moments.

But he's careless, and anyone engaging the sailors in melee combat is within range of his whirlwind of blows.

Kalia, idly, points Haguro towards him.
"That one. We like him a lot."
Shigure     Yuudachi pounces at the same time, clashing with Re-class with a gutteral growl as her eyes flare with red flames leaking from the corners. The pair splash down into the water, and Yuudachi starts wrestling with Mama's Little Monster, trying to get her long knife in to stab and slash, while also attempting to fend off those sharp talon-like nails.

Shigure jinks and jukes, turning to angle her limited armour against those secondary shells. One punches clean through her starboard tonfa, and the black-haired girl tosses it away before it detonates, sending a large plume of water into the air. More shells rain down around her, obscuring her behind plumes of water and shrapnel.

Then she emerges, battered and battledamaged, but turning in to join her little sister in pinning down the battleship so the others can quell the sailors and get people to safety.
Haguro The sailors in blue jerk sideways ^as Yuudachi lands near them, giving her a wide berth in her fight against Re-Class. Some of them (the ones that still have functioning guns, anyway) even assist, firing on the Abyssal and probably not doing much but making themselves targets. Not that they're too worried about that versus just shooting at the one they're obviously more worried about from sight alone.

Sight alone doesn't help those that Note goes after, though, as there's few of them who can see where the Saiyan is going. Among them, even fewer realize that their guns have been damaged enough to make firing the weapons a danger to their wielders, and more of those guns blow up right in the sailors' faces if they haven't already been brought down by hard hits to the everything already. The bravest of those, however, muster up enough strength to start swinging machetes around themselves rapidly, joining forces in an impromptu phalanx sort of thing!

A phalanx with no shields or any sort of defensive equipment, but still. One of them might get a lucky swing in, and that's sure to be a point of pride for whoever that turns out to be. It won't take long for them to be beaten down at this rate, but they still have to show that they're trying! Sort of.

"They... Are, but they've shown they have some ability to get by at least this much. If their strengths can be aimed at more productive purp-" Haguro inhales sharply as Mikoto makes one of the sailors wish he was dead, the sailor collapsing with a high-pitched whine while several others weigh their options. The unlucky one with the sword pointed at him backs off rather quickly, but is soon backed up by several other sailors drawing their guns once again, but it's clear from the previous display of carving up their weapons that they're hesitating enough to not fire yet!

Maybe things will go better. The intimidation finally seems to be sinking in, especially with Majima using an orange of all things to turn one of the sailor's faces into a citrusy, bloody mess. If he was still conscious, he'd probably be screaming from the POWER OF CITRUS making those open wounds sting even more, but he's lucky enough to not be. When that salt shaker comes out, the sailors have enough sense to back off on reaction, although they seem even more confused than before.

And yet, that odd pose and the bravado Majima displays with the seasoning is working its magic to intimidate them all the same.

Staren's evasive maneuvers, meanwhile, throw the sailors' bead on him way off. Some of them do fire into the water, but their attention doesn't stick to the ocean's surface for long once he's stopped firing back at them. It lets them turn their attention back to the Re-Class as she causes an explosion at the beach, and it's becoming ever clearer that they are totally outmatched here.

Of course they're going to need a champion to save them. There's certainly A champion, but it's not the one they wanted when the maddened sailor swings on his own allies, his friends, and the surviving sailors soon start firing on their own guy. Some of them simply turn tail and run entirely, screaming at the sight of those unlucky enough to be turned into melting messes. Haguro, too, looks somewhat horrified at the sight, but not so much that she loses her own inner fire.

"I... Uh. I mean, he's strong, but I don't know how good that's going to be for morale!" Haguro takes aim with her own turrets at the Champion, not firing upon him just yet in favor of seeing just how far his reason has gone. "If you want to prove your worth to me, then... Then this is not the way to do it! Stand down, and speak!"
Note     Note's, unfortunately for these brave, proud sailors... more than they could have ever expected would show up. Though the fact that they're so eager to dice into someone half their size and clearly a kid is a bit disturbing!

Unfortunately any efforts to do said chopping are... well...

It doesn't end well. When one goes to chop at her the brief moment she's slowed down not wanting to kick up a huge spray of sand with an intense turn...

    IN COMES A BLADE!

She casually raises a single hand in its way, extends her pointer finger and...

    CLAAAAAAAAAANG!!!

The machete hits HARD, as if the guy'd swing straight at a metal wall. It's probably going to bounce off, it may even just BREAK depending on how hard he's swinging it!

Note is totally unimpressed by this. "Geeze, you guys don't have any business swinging weapons around! You're just gonna get yourselves killed!"

And that's when... the ground around her just EXPLODES with a wave of force, golden light and roaring energy noisily erupting from beneath her and engulfing her in a swirling aura of luminous, filmy sun-like energy. There's a heat to it, sure, but the more dramatic aspect of this change is how the power sweeps her hair upwards, holding it into an array of spiky now-golden locks.

The transformation itself is powerful enough to knock people off their feet if they're too close to her, and sprays sand every which way. When it's over she's just standing there with the aura making a weird pulsy-whoosh noise.
Midway     Re-Class has more or less been drawn out of the melee with all those sailors, and that's probably for the best. As fun as she seems at a glance, there's a reason she accepts calling herself a Monster. So rather than wade into the mismatched arguing crews of pirates who opened fire on her as soon as she showed her face, the ghastly battleship tumbles across the sea's surface with a certian blonde destroyer.

She seems less interested in clawing at her opponent, though. As that knife finds purchase and Re bleeds that ichorous black oil, she simply digs her fingers into the collar hem of Yuudachi's tattered uniform.

By the time the feral pair comes to rest on the ocean's surface, Re is actually on the bottom, pinned by the loyal hound of Hikari. Despite the damage and oil on her marble-like skin, the abyssal battleship's wild grin is uninterrupted. Her grip tightens, and she starts to submerge, fighting against Yuudachi's natural shipgirl bouyancy.
Shigure     Yuudachi is far from helpless, but the talons in her uniform are pretty hard to break free from. She stabs and slashes madly at those arms, trying to break Re-class' grip so she doesn't get pulled under, but a heavier ship like the Abyssal is definitely starting to win that little battle.

Shigure charges in and wraps her arms around Yuudachi's waist, setting her feet and hauling upwards, adding her bouyancy to Yuudachi's, trying to bring it back or stalemate the exchange.
Kalia     "Really?" Kalia asks Haguro, curious.
"Words are unreliable. You can't always count on them. But a good sword and a strong will, you can always count on. Though, it's a lot easier to find someone good at that than it is to find someone good at words, we agree."

When Haguro fires upon HER CHAMPION, it seems to make things worse. He stands - the shells slowed slightly by the aura around him, and his body hardened against the blows. Bruised, but not in pieces. And he gets... madder.

"WHY? I'M STRONGER THAN THESE DOGS, I'M MORE WORTHY OF YOU THAN THEY ARE! ISN'T THIS ENOUGH TO CONVINCE YOU?! I'LL BE YOUR BLADE, I'LL KEEP THIS PLACE IN CHECK THIS TIME!"

    He grows another foot?
And then two more. Succumbing to his negative emotions is just making the effects worse.

With a terrible swing he brings his massive cutlass down, splitting the earth across the melee. Gushes of black energy rush out of the cracks, like dark-elemental acid trying to prevent the sailors from fleeing.

"DON'T RUN, YE BASTARDS! JOIN HER OR JOIN THE DEAD, MAKE PEACE EITHER WAY!" He is slightly unhinged.

    Slightly.
Sumiko Several men walk up to Mikoto, which causes her to frown even more.  Guns are pointed into her face, and she's frowning deeply at them.  Her head turns towards Haguro for a moment, giving her a smile, "It's alright, it's just more complicated than you thought...soooo...lets make this less complicated."

Mikoto's eyes flash green for a brief moment, there might be the feeling of magical power rush over Haguro, before she reaches up towards each of the barrels of the guns, and twists them upwards casually.  She stares right at the center man with her eyes focused right on his own.

"The next time I kick, you'll never enjoy it again."

With that, she walks casually towards the poor sailor that is mutating.  Ok, this is becoming a huge problem, and she now has to solve THIS one.  She rushes at him with SONIC'S amazing speed, and swings her sword with the force of HAGURO's strength, attempting to use the flat side of the blade to smack him across the face and draw his attention.

Or knock him out.

The negative emotions were starting to have an effect on her just by being near him, and she hated it.  She needed to stop this ASAP.  "Ugh, fine, looks like I'm going to have to do it.  I'll be her champion, and you'll just be flat on the ground before you do anything stupid and hurt people."

She pauses, looking to the man she uh...introduced to her foot, "More people."
Staren     Staren resurfaces, sort of. He only has to hold the gun above water. Future tech can operate when wet, and tiny built-in cameras let him see where he's aiming like he's some kind of submacgine-gun-submarine. He winces at the damage some of them are taking, but really, if even MOST of the sailors are alive after this he'll call it an overall win.

And then... the 'champion' starts making things worse. Damn it! Staren focus-fires on him... although, shock bullets and foam missiles may not be very effective, but hopefully it'll slow him down for whatever the others are doing to him.
Majima Goro Majima's getting through to these guys. That's pretty good. ...And while he'd love to beat the hell out of every last one of 'em, Haguro wants them to work for her, and with all the crazy artillery cannons going on, that ain't gonna happen if they get blown up.

He brandishes the salt shaker, teeth bared as he laughs again. "...Ya want more? YA WANT SOME MORE, YA BASTARDS?"

He's circling around the group. He has, in a stunning seeming lack of strategy, let a position open where the sailors with swords and the like can run, if they're so inclined.
Despite his glaring weakness, there is the slim possibility they will choose not to follow. That a single man might look to his peers, and say, 'Lo, brothers, he is but one man with a single shaker of salt. We men of strong arm and swarthy skin can yet triumph over but one man.'Mind, the guy actually ends up going 'ah, fuck it, we can take him,', and about three more believe in that eloquent, stirring speech.

The Messiah of Brave Sailors, who comes at him first swinging a hatchet, charges forward. An axe is slung to cleave Majima in two. Majima's back bends backwards, as if he has chosen to play Limbo with it--

He wins. He raises up behind the sailor, unscrewing the top of the salt.
A hand moves to yank the man's hair back, bending him backwards. His glasses--delicately removed, before the salt is poured on directly to his eyeballs. Then a spinning kick is planted firmly in his stomach to let him ponder his mistake in solitude, with a scant four remaining of this brave group of pirates.

Majima takes out his knife. A simple tanto. Floral design on the sheathe. He proceeds to throw it into the air. Three men are the recipients of his martial arts prowess--a kick to the chin, a punch to the stomach, and a fierce rising kick between another man's legs.

The fourth attempts to come from behind, receiving a single punch to the solar plexus, in time for Majima to rear back...

And roundhouse kick his own knife into the pirate's chest.

He leans in with a sadistic grin, hand on his own tanto as the man squirms.

"You're so..so pathetic," He almost whispers like a scorned lover, ripping the knife out in a single movement.

Somehow, that isn't lethal.
Midway     Shigure comes to Yuudachi's aid and the sinking effect is more or less negated. Just beneath the sea's surface, Re-Class tilts her head back, which pushes the sinister angle of her smile into something more friendly. Or perhaps just unhinged. Those wide glowing pink eyes shining from a few inches beneath the surface.

Her tail breaks the surface nearby, maw wide with seawater sluicing out between its teeth. Arcing down on the imperil'd destroyers, the Abyssal's tail swings its main battery guns forward and depresses the barrels of the secondary cannons.
It turns out that the weakest link in this exchange is cloth. With a pronounced tearing sound, Re's claws rip furrows through Yuudachi's collar until there's nothing left to grip. Surprise touches Re's face for the half-second she's still visible, before she shoots down into the depths at top speed. Her tail's head snaps upward as it is also yanked down, disappearing beneath the waves with a furious howling.

A few minutes later, there's a pronounced *thump* on hydrophones, presumably of a body hitting the bottom without being able to recover from a sudden crash dive.
Haguro If the everything else that Note did wasn't already a sign, the explosion of energy and the sudden change in hair after staving off the machete with her hand is compounding even further with the previous displays of prowess from Mikoto and Majima that they're really getting in way over their heads here. The one that Mikoto turns to flinches at the threat, and those with their guns turned upwards all back off just to make sure they're not in the orb-crusher's sights.

Getting in Majima's sights doesn't turn out all that well for them, either. Those accosted by the salt shaker unwisely choose to engage, and they all end up writhing on the ground in short order. Between getting salt in the eyes, kicked in the gut, getting hit in the Mikoto-preferred target zone, and straight up stabbed?

It's no wonder that the sailors are falling in line. The maddened champion getting even madder and growing extra feet in the literal sense just helps to solidify that backing off is their best chance at survival here. The sailors, finding their escape route cut off (or an entire body, for the unlucky one that tripped right in front of that blade coming down), start gathering behind Haguro as if trying to use her as a human shield.

Or maybe they just think that she might have a shot at convincing the Kalia-powered sailor to stand down.

"Words can be useful sometimes. Not... All the time." Haguro replies to Kalia as she turns her gaze towards where Re-Class and the Fifth are going at it, a concerned frown crossing her face. It's not worrying enough to have her intervene, but she still can't help but worry a little about those three.

Or... However many Re-Class counts as.

"But sometimes it is. Having powerful defenders here would certainly be useful, but... But!" Taking a deep breath, Haguro follows behind Mikoto at a much slwer, but firm pace as she steps right up to the champion with a fire in her eyes!

... And being maybe a good foot or two shorter than him, depending on how high he even grew from Kalia's influence. Still, a Vice Admiral needs to make a good showing if she wants to win over the hearts of these sailors, especially with that size difference. "If you truly want to be my champion here, then stand down. These people are your friends. Your family. My order to you is to protect them with all your being. If you cannot follow that simple order, then I have no need for someone like you!"

Although she speaks with passion, anyone even remotely familiar with body language can see that she's trying a smidge too hard to hold herself together. Her jaw is tight, her stance is stiff, and she looks more suited to just punching him in the neck than intimidating anyone.
Shigure     Shigure looks over her shoulder as that tail looms over, blue eyes shrinking to points as she stares death down the barrel.

Then Yuudachi's uniform gives out and Re-class, and her tail drop like a certain coyote who just realized he was standing on nothing.

Shigure lurches back with about as much force, flying back in an arc with Yuudachi in her grasp, until she slams into one of the concrete pillar sof the pier, cracking it and making her cough out a spray of black oil as Yuudachi slams into her chest at speed.

Shigure groans, and radios to the others that Re-class seems to have been driven off... or is at least out of the fight for the moment, and that she and Yuudachi are badly damaged and are being forced to disengage because of it. Yuudachi helps Shigure up, and the pair start to limp away at about half speed, Shigure trailing a path of leaked fuel oil behind her.
Kalia     Staren's attacks, at first, seem to be working - the CHAMPION slows, bogged down by foam and zaps. Then Kalia's aura pulses, and it's as if nothing held him in place anymore. He wrestles free, laughing - until Haguro steps forward.

The giant of a man glares down.

    "YOUR... ORDER?"

    Kalia waves their hand.
    The aura gets weaker.

"FINE! THEN I SHALL CARRY THAT ORDER THROUGH LIKE NONE OTHER COULD!" How unusual. The big man shrinks a bit, his blade seems less threatening, but he ultimately stands down.

Kalia hovers back towards Haguro, hmming.

"Not bad, admiral. Well, we're going to leave this to you then. Take good care of him."

    Kalia ~vwoops~ out of existence.
Majima Goro Majima Goro has done his work today.

Since the pirates are done convincing themselves they ought to be fighting, well. He guesses he'll help these poor saps out.

He tilts one of the men on his side, cracking open some kind of energy drink. It says 'Toughness ZZ' on the label. He gingerly, slowly moves to ease the man into consuming the delicious beverage.

For some reason, it works as wound-ailing medicine. You just have to go with these things, and not question them too deeply. Alternately, buy yours today at Poppo's, available in many convenient locations all over Kamurocho and Sotenbori.

"Ahhh. I ain't a doctor or nothin', but this might getcha on your feet, huh? Didja learn ya lesson yet?"
Sumiko Well...that...

Worked?

Mikoto rubs the back of her neck and looks towards Haguro.  "Oh hey, you got him to listen," Giving a sideways glance towards Kalia as she gets a little too close for her liking.  However, when the ghost disappears, she sighs in relief.

Well, despite everything, it seems to be calming down.  She looks back towards the beach.  "Hm...I wonder if it's too late to enjoy the water.."
Staren     Staren stops shooting at the champion as soon as he stops attacking the other sailors. And then... Haguro's order is obeyed? Huh. Staren walks out of the water until it's waist-deep or so, then flies to dry land. "Well. Congratulations. Are you going to talk to the civilians about this new arrangement? Or is the town not part of your new navy, only these men?"
Haguro Haguro's jaw remains clenched for several moments after the champion starts shrinking, not quite believing what just happened until Kalia comes up behind her once again. The Cruiser's due for a heart attack one of these days with how often people just pop up behind her, but Kalia's appearances actually seem somewhat...

Comforting. At least in these circumstances. "I... I will. Thank you." She adjusts her hat, then nods once at them with a smile before turning back to the sailors...

Pirates. Same difference, at least in their case. The one Majima pours his drink into sputters at first, but sits up moments later as he notices that his parts have been healed!

Especially those parts. "Well, hot damn. I feel like I could fight an army now!" He cheers and jumps to his feet, then turns slowly and realizes that saying that probably isn't the best idea considering LITERALLY EVERYONE.

He quickly sits back down.

Haguro, meanwhile gazes out towards the sea as she steps gingerly past a few of the more injured sailors. "Perhaps not, Miss Mikoto. The water's nice, and this /is/ a resort."

"Was!" One of the sailors chimes. "You're... You're really taking over here? But how are we gonna make any money without the dr-" He gets cut off by another sailor, and Haguro has just enough sense not to dig that hole deeper.

"Like I said. As of today, this town is going to be an outpose for the Luthan Navy." She nods towards Staren in answering him, taking another moment to steady herself before speaking up again. "Treat your wounded, perform services for your dead. We'll begin your rehabilitation and training for your new positions in a week, so rest up. As long as you report in and refrain from your previous... Practices, you'll be well taken care of. And in time, maybe...."

Haguro taps her chin lightly. "Maybe we can have a proper vacation here sometime."
Note     Seeing that th e men are all now utterly cowed as they're gonna be... Note powers back down to her normal form. The golden glow goes poof, hair falls back down to smooth and black...

The whole situation is still FAR too confusing for her though, so she looks about this way and that at other things happening on the beach and ends up staring Staren's way, as if asking him 'now what?'
Majima Goro Well. Majima's only got so many cans on him. He's not an actual doctor. But, y'know, he's done his part, and he's feeling like the pirates can handle whatever he can't.

His hands stretch over his head, the gloved fingers flexing. His neck rolls one way, then the other.

"Ahhh. ...Ya don't suppose that seafood restaurant's gonna be open tonight, eh? Smell o' the sea air and all's got me really wantin' some crab. ..Yeah, that's the ticket, eh? Crab." He asks this to noone in particular, before moving to light a cigarette.

There's a shake of his head. The cigarette is lit. Tap tap.
"...yeah, probably not. Now I'm hungry. Damnit."
Note     The mention of food though, that quickly distracts Note from the matter at hand. "Restaurant?! Is it all you can eat?!" Her attention has swerved RIGHT over to Majima!
Sumiko Mikoto thinks about it for a moment...

"How are you going to make money?  By impressing people like me who are rich!  Come on now, He wants seafood, and I wanna enjoy a resort.  Also, Haguro's going to hire you on.  I think you got a pretty good shot at coming clean."

With a flash of ~Magical Girl Sparkles~, Mikoto is back in her civilian clothes.  She picks a bag off the ground, stuffed with her bathing suit.  "Well, I guess I should go change."
Staren     "Maybe they can be a resort too... if they ever really made any money that way. And I should think pirate skills should be transferable to /legitimate/ soldiers and merchants, right?" Staren puts the gun away in his bag. "That seafood sounds good, let's check out this restaurant!" Staren starts to follow Majima, then hesitates. "Well, after." Then he goes over the battlefield, searching for those who will need his medicine or revivial.
