Cordelay Levail Having sent out a general challenge, Cordelay waits in the designated arena for her opponent to arrive, checking her swords with an almost palpable aura of tense energy. After so long training in isolation, the thought of fighting another Multiversal warrior is... thrilling, to say the least.
Sarracenia      And soon, the challenger arrives! The tall, red-headed princess from the Sundew Kingdom! She makes her way confidently into the arena, carrying her oversized warhammer over her shoulder. She smirks as she approaches the other woman, and walks up until it is quite obvious that she is nearly a foot taller than Cordelay. "Greetings! I am Princess Sarracenia Sundew, Crown Princess of the Sundew Kingdom. You should be honored I have accepted your challenge! I have only just recovered from an intense battle!"

Truth is she did very little fighting during that battle, but she isn't going to say that! She waits for Cordelay to introduce herself, then smirks confidently. "Alright then...I shall make the first move! Have at thee!" The princess charges forward and goes into a spin, bringing her hammer around several times as she twirls across the battlefield. Somehow she wields the weapon that is as tall as herself and likely much more heavy with ease.
Cordelay Levail The princess's fighting style seems familiar to Cordelay, but it isn't until that mighty hammer blow knocks her halfway across the arena that she remembers. "Aha, I knew you looked familiar! We've fought once before, Your Highness, though I doubt you would remember me. If that is the case I shall introduce myself once more - I am Cordelay Levail, daughter of Sartaire the Dragon! Let us enjoy this battle to its fullest extent!" Landing back on her feet as she finishes speaking, the blonde grins with the aura of one raised for war and charges forward, her twin blades in hand. She lashes out with one of her sword-chains to snare Sarracenia's hammer arm, the other sword aimed for her ribs in preparation for a vicious stab!
Sarracenia      Sarracenia blinks as Cordelay says they have met. She peers, but it isn't until after the princess is caught by that chain that she remembers. "Ah! I believe I do remember, though it has been a long while!" she says. She pulls on that chain as Cordelay comes in, meeting that stab with the hilt of her hammer so that rather that a piercing stab it only manages a cut along one arm. The princess yelps at the strike, then growls lightly. "And if I recall correctly, you take these battles quite seriously." she says before smirking again. "But, snaring me is a double-edged sword!" she exclaims!

She grips the chain in her free hand and leaps back, then attempts to yank Cordelay toward herself and brings the huge head of that hammer in before thrusting it forward in a spear-like motion, aiming to smash it into Cordelay while the dragon's daughter is being pulled through the air.
Cordelay Levail The sudden drag on the chain is surprising for a moment, but the princess's plan crystallizes in Cordelay's mind as she sees Sarracenia move her hammer into position for the strike. Twisting her body acrobatically she manages to meet the hammerhead with her feet rather than her face, kicking off of it powerfully and dragging her opponent back in turn as the force of her motion threatens to drag Sarracenia across the arena floor.
Sarracenia      Sarracenia blinks and gasps in surprise when Cordelay manages to perform such an acrobatic feat! Sarracenia is actually impressed! But also annoyed! Still recovering from her own attack attempt, she isn't fast enough to react when Cordelay springs back and yangs Sarracenia off her feet. With a startled squeak, Sarracenia faceplants right in the dirt and goes slying across the ground.

When she comes to a stop she just...lies there a moment. Sure, it hurt. But it also hurt her pride! "Mmmmph..." she groans into the ground before getting up.

"Have you no manners! You do not damage a lady's face!!" she exclaims as she starts reaching into her purse and pulling out Bob-ombs! A generous number of the little explosive creatures goes flying through the air, raining explosions down around Cordelay.
Cordelay Levail Cordelay had thought of several possible counterattacks she could face. A rain of explosives, however, was not one of them, and the Dragon's daughter is quickly engulfed by clouds of flame and debris as the Bob-ombs detonate all around her. At least she's still standing when the smoke clears, though visibly burned. "There are no rules on the battlefield, Your Highness." She grins again, that expression somewhere between bloodlust and bliss, as she lunges forward with all her speed, her twin blades out and driving not toward the princess's vitals but her arms, obviously intending to strike crippling blows against Sarracenia's potential offense.
Sarracenia      Sarracenia scoffs so hard at that! "What?! Of course there are rules on the battlefield! Only barbarians do not conduct themselves with proper battlefield honor!" she exclaims, not even trying to stop the incoming attack while caught up in her speech. The strike lands true, and Sarracenia yelps and winces as her arms feel weaker. "It seems you truly believe in victory at any cost. Well...do not think such dishonorable tactics will defeat me!" she exclaims.

She pulls a red mushroom from her purse and holds it above her head. It disappears in a puff of white smoke and a red glow surrounds Sarracenia a moment before soaking into her. While her arms are still cut, her body suddenly looks a bit more toned. "I will not lose!" she declares before holding her hammer at the ready. And it too starts glowing, but with a prismatic aura. It flows over Sarracenia as well. "I do not usually unleash this power, but this seems to be a special instance. So, you shall face the full might of my magical hammer!" The prismatic aura flashes, and suddenly Sarra goes into a hammering frenzy. Blow after powerful, crushing blow starts raining down, smashing the field with each hit and hopefully smashing Cordelay in the process!
Cordelay Levail The barrage of hammer blows is familiar to Cordelay - the technique that cost her the last match between them, in fact. Though she takes several crushing hits, at the end of the assault she's still standing, panting for breath and barely standing. "It seems we have wildly different philosophies when it comes to combat. You're a duelist, where honor is as important as victory... while I was raised for war. In war the slightest misstep or hesitation can be fatal, and I fight with that in mind." She coughs heavily and grips both her swords by the chains, beginning to spin and allowing the twin blades to whirl about and surround her in a whirlwind of sharpened steel.
Sarracenia      Sarracenia is also panting after her attack. It might be dangerous, but it takes a lot out of her. She mmphs as she listens to Cordelay. She brings up her hammer to try and defend against the incoming attack, but it is just too much. The princess is forced to her knees, and the arena reports that the match is over. The princess rises slowly, the battle damage fading away thanks to the nature of the simulations. "Honor is not a misstep. Underestimating opponents, not preparing properly, being overconfident. These are missteps. But, without honor, what is the point of victory? Is survival enough for you?"

She considers her own words for a moment, then the princess offers a hand. "Still, it was an...entertaining match. Thank you for the diversion."
Cordelay Levail Cordelay accepts the hand, her expression softening somewhat. "Likewise. And... I apologize. To be honest I've been ruminating over the news of the recent conflict between the Concord and the Watch, and the stories of that battle remind me much of my father's campaigns against other regional warlords. Your view is as valid as my own, I'm sure."
Sarracenia      Sarracenia looks caught off guard by the concession. She blinks a few times, then smiles lightly. "Is it really your view, though? Or is it merely what you were taught?" she asks. She gives Cordelay's hand a light shake before releasing it. "I have always been quite rebellious I suppose, so my parents' views on things never really took root in me. I am...somewhat of a disappointment to them." she admits, a bit sadly.

She sighs, then tilts her head lightly. "What is it about the conflict that got you thinking?" she asks, obviously just out of curiousity.
Cordelay Levail "How it started, mostly. The actions of one man led to a battle that threatened an entire town. That isn't dissimilar from how things work in my homeland - the personal grudges of warlords often lead to campaigns that can last months or years, until something else more pressing arises." Cordelay smiles unconsciously, though it's undoubtedly more sad than happy. "I've known my place is on the battlefield since I was very young, and will continue to be until peace finally sets in. I do enjoy combat, but the best are matches like these, demonstrations of skill that don't leave behind fields of corpses."
Sarracenia      Sarracenia ahs and nods lightly at the comparison. "Yes. That was my argument as well. Many wanted to counter-attack the Concord for their attack, but the Watch instigated the situation and the Concord settled it to their satisfaction, so there was no need for further violence." she says. She looks a bit sympathetic as Cordelay describes her place on the battlefield. "You know you are your own person. You do not have to follow what your parents tell you once you have reached a certain age. They may be a little disappointed in me for not always being what they think I should be, but I would rather they be a bit disappointed than having to hide my true self away from the world."
Cordelay Levail Cordelay laughs softly as her smile grows a bit brighter. "You are correct, of course. I could go against my father's wishes if that is what I want, but I respect him endlessly. Once he unifies our homeland, there will be peace under the Levail banner. Not to mention that I owe him my life for taking me in." She pauses for a moment and explains, "Sartaire the Dragon is not my birth father, you see. My birth parents were retainers in his service, and he adopted me as his daughter and heir when plague claimed them. Yet he has always treated me as if I were his trueborn daughter, so my service on the battlefield is how I show my filial piety."
Sarracenia      Sarracenia's eyes widen just a bit at the story. "I see. So, despite being a warlord it seems he has a heart as well. That is quite contrary to how one usually thinks of warlords. I for instance worry that warlords will not stop with only a single area. Conquering is in their nature. Why would they stop? It seems much more likely that any warlord will continue trying to expand his holdings and influence until the end of his days."

She smiles though and shrugs lightly. "But, I can certainly imagine how someone who treated you with such kindness would also inspire such devotion. I admit I was curious why you did not seem to have any draconic traits."
Cordelay Levail The last comment actually brings a laugh out of Cordelay. "Oh, he isn't a literal dragon. He's simply called that for his intimidating presence and great prowess on the battlefield. And your assessment of warlords is generally correct, but I believe my father to be different. Rather than waiting for someone else to end the chaos he has taken it upon himself to do so in the only way such peace can be enforced." Cordelay half-bows formally to Sarracenia and adds, "Thank you, Your Highness, for both the spar and the conversation. My mind is clearer now after speaking of such things with someone willing to listen."
Sarracenia      Sarracenia blinks before laughing as well. "I see. Well, I certainly hope you are right. " She curtseys in return as Cordelay bows. "You are welcome, Lady Cordelay. Even if I do not agree with your methods, it was pleasant talking with you. I look forward to future battles with you!" she says, then makes her way toward the exit.
