Yang Xiao Long     Earlier at Beacon Academy.

"YOu're taking newbies out on a /safari!?/... you know it's dangerous even for trained Hunters, Yang." The Bullhead Pilot grouses, brows furrowing and arms folding as he leans back against the door of his craft.
"I know Ochre, but they'd go out alone otherwise... Elites are kinda weird, y'know?" retorts the blonde. "Anyway, we've got Team PLRR and Team SMMR out in Forever Fall alreadfy. They'll keep back anything too dangerous."

The pilot just sighs. "Just keep your Scoll on, okay? I'll be in the area for pickup in case things go south."

    Now

The Bullhead soars over the area of forest known as Forever Fall. An apt name as the trees look perpetually in a state of autumn. Deep golds and reds for leaves, a steady flurry of detatched leaves following the chill but not unpleasant winds. Yang says to the 'safari' members. "Here, keep these with you at all times. They're calibrated to detect a bunch of Multiversal defense mechanisms being damaged." she says, pointing to a bar that fills in when they're taken. "The big yellow button at the top is your panic switch. Press it and Ochre'll come around with the Bullhead to pick you up. It'll also alert any Hunter in the area that you're in trouble." she leans in with a serious expression. "DO NOT. Take the Grimm lightly. They will not show any remorse for gutting you."

The aircrafft comes in low, and drops its ramp as it lands in a clearing, letting the group out before lifting off again. <I'll be circling the area. Team PLRR and Team SMMR are about 3 clicks away from you. They're herding the Beowolf pack your way, then will break contact to go on their patrol.>
Tohru Adachi      "Yeah, yeah. Don't worry. I know a thing or two about murderous monsters. I'll be fiiiiine~"

Adachi shrugs off the warning about the Grimm in a similar manner he did previously. He's not worried about monsters, he's dealt with the things that monsters generally fear. Granted, he lost, but he put up a pretty decent fight if he says so himself. And he does say so himself.

The ex-cop doesn't bring much with him in terms of monster hunting, no weapons besides a model revolver, no armor except his usual suit and tie and the panic button thing that Yang gave him. The weirdest thing he's brought with him is a TV. A pretty big TV at that. Even with his superhuman might, it's still pretty awkward to carry. But the screen is more than big enough to fit a very large person inside.

"Oof. Well, here's hoping this works and I can get the landowner to give me an extension on when I need to pay rent. These things really don't come cheap."
Selene Sitting in the back of the Bullhead is a strangely grinning teenager with a stranger chicken-shaped hat. Technically, it's supposed to be some kind of flower native to her (current) home region of Alola, but considering the codename she's been given for her secret ops...

Chicken hat it is. In her hand, she's spinning two balls around each other: a small gray and blue ball along with a similarly-sized pink ball with a heart on it. She pauses every now and then to press her face against the glass of the aircraft, staring out the windows to see everything passing along below the group. A small black and red cat with a bell around its neck seems content to nap at her feet, although it opens its eye every now and then just in case.

"Keep what in the wherenow?" Selene's asks absentmindedly as she watches something black doing... Something or another in the distance. It's kind of hard for her to see it from where they are, especially as the aircraft descends. She does turn back to Yang after a few more moments though, letting out an intrigued 'ooooh' and 'aaaah' once she's actually paying attention. "Yellow button for bad things happening, beat their faces in with extreme prejudice and then throw balls and TVs at them. Got it!"

Still grinning that ever mishievous and vaguely vacant grin, Selene slips the balls into her pocket, then scoops the Torracat up onto her head as it stirs briefly. She waves broadly once the aircraft takes to the sky once more, then starts scouting the area in the form of not-quite-jogging-but-not-strolling in a steadily expanding spiral.

"Wouldn't it be cheaper to just throw bricks or something at 'em, though? I mean, unless that's one of those ancient TVs nobody wants to use anymore 'cause the screen's really tiny and it'll give you face cancer or something. Is that why?" Selene asks at a rapid pace, barely understandable at best.
Yang Xiao Long     Yang sighs... "This is going to be a long day." The blonde huntress then fires her gauntlets, launching herself into the trees to get a vantage point.

Then, the forest goes still... it's eerily quiet out here, apart from the constant chatter that Selene's emitting. There's no chirping of birds, no buzz of insects. It's /strange/.

And then the silence is broken by a discordant howl. It's very similar to a wolf howl, but with a semi-echo quality to it. This alerts the group that the Pack has spotted them.

At least twenty large, werewolf-like black monsters with white bone-like plates comes through the treeline... one of them MUCH larger with more plates and armoured claw-gauntlets... this one hangs back a little, intelligence shimmering behind the bestial visage... An Alpha Beowolf. The rest charge in, claws digging into the ground as they go straight for the pair of humans on the forest floor.
Tohru Adachi      "Nah. The TV is uh... Just think of it as Plan B! You know, if you can't catch it? You get it? So just make sure it doesn't get broken, kay?"

Adachi is extremely vague on what the TV is there for, but he's pretty sure Selene isn't really one to dig for a fully detailed answer. Honestly, the Plan B is just to either throw one in or skedaddle on the off chance that something actually goes horribly wrong, but if he explains the second bit people are going to look at him funny.

There's a howl, and the murderer just smirks, digging into his jacket as he unholsters his revolver. The way he begins loading it and spins the chamber oozes a nonchalant manner. Like he's been in this sort of situation before, like he really isn't threatened. Either that or he's good at hiding what he's feeling and he's actually scared shitless.

"Right on time. Alright. How many you catchin? I get dibs on at least one, ya know that right?"

Adachi fires at some of the lesser Grimms, aiming for their center of mass rather than going for any fatal shots, though he doesn't seem too worried about the ones that he's missed despite their approaching, which might have something to do with the weird tension that's building around him.

     "MANGLE THEM, MAGATSU-IZANAGI!"

There's the sound of something shattering as a large unsettling red figure appears behind Adachi, naginata in hand. There's a rather unnerving feral roar from the persona as it firmly clasps the weapon in its hand, bringing it up above its head before bringing it down. Were he not concerned with keeping a few alive, he'd have just aimed for stabbing them through the head in be down with it, but with capture in mind, the persona instead opts to slam the non pointy bit into the backside of their skulls in an attempt to concuss them and hopefully not shatter their skulls.

Though honestly, there won't be much crying if Adachi does shatter a few.
Selene "I understand." No, Adachi. No, she does not. It's probably for the best.

Even Selene notices when things start getting quiet, then jumps a bit when the sound of howls pierces through the silence. Pulling the gray-blue and pink-heart balls out of her pockets, the wide-eyed trainer lets out a confident chuckle as she taps the button, and the balls expand from golf-ball sized to baseball-sized.

"Five on twenty, huh? I like these odds!" She boasts to Yang, then purses her lips in thought. "I brought enough for maybe... Ten?" She pops both of the balls open simultaneously as lights shoot forward into the space in on each side of her, and out comes two somewhat similarly shaped things! From the gray and blue ball, a massive blue and beige-y bearcat sort of thing with a teal and white luchador mask. From the pink heart ball, a fat purple ball with stubby limbs, spikes, a black eyemask, and a persistent shit-eating grin.

Naturally, all three of them are posing symmetrically once the lights fade with their arms pointed outwards. It probably doesn't do much to stop the Beowolves from charging at them, though, so the Snorlax moves in front of Selene and bellows a mighty roar before swinging it chunky arms around to batter the crap out of any that get too close for comfort.

"Depends on how many of the balls breaks, y'know? They're pretty good at holding stuff once they're in, but they're not as good as the REALLY good balls that cost... Like. A bajillion moneys." Selene explains, letting out an awed 'ooooh' when the Persona appears. "I'm pretty sure that'd be illegal in a wrestling match, but... Shinyyyy."

The Gengar, meanwhile, goes right on the offensive as it melts into the ground. Once it reaches the front wave of the Beowolves, it emerges with a burst of dark energy aimed at disrupting their ranks and blasting them to bits! Or just in general, since the dark energy it conjures up is less explosive and more raw force with a shadowy flavor to it.
Yang Xiao Long      The first wave of Beowolves crashes against the reaction of the pair. The monsters are TOUGH, but even they have limits. The sheer strength of the Persona smashes the skullplates of a couple, causing them to instantly begin to break up into a black smoke-like substance... the ones that don't instantly break only stay down as long as it takes them to get their limbs under them again from being send sprawling... they're not really capable of being concussed it seems.

The Snorlax finds it easy to swat the Beowolves away, but any that it doesn't kill outright get back up... and they seem to be ignoring the Pokemon in favour of Tohru and Selene themselves. Some strange quirk?

The Alpha remains behind the lines, snarling and pacing back and forth, like it's sizing up its prey before commiting to the attack. It does look at the Gengar as the Ghost-type blasts some of its packmates with it's shadowy energy, and chuffs. A couple of Beowolves shift their attack to try and slash at the Gengar with their claws.
Tohru Adachi      Some of them seem not so tough and get their skull crushed. They also don't seem to leave a corpse behind and dissolve into smoke. It really doesn't phase Adachi, the Shadows he's seen are pretty much all like this. It does kind of bug him that he can't simply knock them out though. Was really hoping they obeyed basic biology.

Eyeing one of the lesser Beowulfs that's trying to crawl, Magatsu-Izanagi raises a free hand, it's finger posed to snap as Adachi speaks.

"Hey now. Take it easy buddy, here's let me help you relax those muscles a bit~"

The persona snaps, and a small bolt of electricity rains down on the downed Grimm, enough to hurt, but hopefully not enough to kill. Though, hurting wasn't really the goal, more so than inflicting paralysis on the creature to keep it in place.
Selene "Whoa... They really don't like us, huh?" Selene comments with an amused laugh, taking the whole imminent bodily harm thing in stride even as the Snorlax keeps swinging around wildly to batter the encroaching Grimm away from the trainer. The Gengar's got its own hands full as some of those smaller Grimm start targeting it, grimacing at the slashes that do make contact and leave darker purple gashes on contact. The Snorlax's hide helps keep them from drawing blood right away, at least!

"Looks like that one in the back is the leader... It's got a fancy helmet and everything!" Selene 'helpfully' points out the obvious as she keeps behind the Snorlax's giant body, her Torracat finally stirring when she picks it up off her head. "You know what to do. Let's spread the love!"

With a hop, skip, and twirl, Selene flings the Torracat right at the Gengar. The cat and purple ghost combine forces with the first on the second's head, and together they start spewing fire and dark energy with wild abandon as they try to cut a line towards the Alpha!

It might not be good for the trees, but it'll be fine. Probably. Maybe. Selene's not paying too much attention to that since she's busier watching the fight for other Grimm that could be ripe for getting some of those Pokeballs hurled right into their wolfy faces.
Yang Xiao Long     The Beowolf that was downed and shocked... suddenly changes. It gets some angry green spikes growing out of its back, and grows in size to rival the Alpha. It then hurls itself at Tohru with a speed and aggression that outstrips its peers... whatever happened is some kind of abhorration.

The combined arms of Gengar and Torracat starts to carve a path through the slightly larger 'regular' Beowolves, heading toward the Alpha, which finally gets the larger monster to rear up and flex its claws. It bellows a challenge to the pokemon pair.

Fortunately for the Snorlax, the Beowolves keep going for Selene, trying to swipe at her before getting punted aside... A few get momentarily stunned from being smashed into trees. They might make for a tempting Pokeball target.
Selene As Selene keeps using the Snorlax for cover, she finally sees her chance. Several chances, even, as some of the Beowolves look dazed and one of them looks a lot greener than before. "I'll leave that one to you, Shockmaster!" She calls out to Adachi as she prepares a handful of those golf ball sized Pokeballs, waiting for the perfect opportunity.

And then she promptly stops waiting to start chucking Pokeballs at the dazed Beowolves. "You know the drill! Slunch, keep those Mega Punches going! Chuggins, Torracat! Ref maneuver!" As directed, the trio of Pokemon shift their strategies ever so slightly.

The Snorlax, although it's still working on bodying things approaching Selene, stops advancing to instead hold position and act as an outright meat shield to the significantly more fragile trainer. The sheer number of Beowolves do manage to slip through its defenses a few times, though, and Selene yelps each time she so much as gets grazed and bloodied as a result. That, of course, is followed by the bearcat roaring and doubling down on beating the Beowolves within an inch of their lives and then some.

The flaming cat and fatghost, meanwhile, do indeed go for the 'ref maneuver'. The cat gets flung into the air by the ghost, and it starts yowling as expected from being treated like a flaming projectile shooting yet more flaming projectiles while it lands behind the Alpha. The ghost melts into the ground, and it... Disappears?

It's waiting. It waits to see if the Alpha's going to get distracted by the Torracat, and if it does? The Gengar speeds right towards it, bursting out of the ground with a mighty flying uppercut right between the legs!
Tohru Adachi      Adachi gets an unexpected result from trying to zap a Grimm. That's nice. That's lovely. That's /perfect/. No, really. It's actually useful to know that's a thing for later totally.

The superpowered Grimm lunges at Tohru, and he raises an arm to protect his face affording the creature the chance to bite down. Unfortunately for the Grimm, Adachi doesn't taste very good, he's also surprisingly very tough meat despite his scrawny nature. The ex-cop winces for just a bit before becoming agitated, retaliating with a blow to knock it away from him that, were it not for the super human strength behind it, would come off as rather comical.

"Huh. Looks like my muscle therapy worked too good. Alright, change of plans. How about you just...Oh, I don't know... /DISAPPEAR/!?"

He's angry, he's annoyed, he's vindictive. Adachi doesn't care about brining this particular Grimm home, especially since he can always try his hand at making another one apparently. Magatsu-Izanagi responds by gripping the shaft of its naginata with both of its clawed fingers, its piercing yellow eyes narrowing at the mutated Beowulf before swinging its weapon once.

Normally, a weapon thrusted once should only hit once, but with one swipe the persona has made a flurry directed of slashes directed at the Grimm. Some are shallow, but most aren't, aiming to dig as deep into the creature's flesh as possible.
Yang Xiao Long     The Alpha dismisses the firecat, directing one of its two 'bodyguards' to attack it... it's waiting to see what the Gengar does. When the ghost-type doesn't immediately reappear, it seemingly loses interest.

Then the Gengar tries its sneak attack.

The Alpha launches itself back a foot to throw off that uppercut, and brings a massive claw-filled paw around to swat the Ghost-type away with a snarl.

The pokeballs thrown at the beowolves strike true, though only a couple actually open and 'suck' the target inside. They wiggle, and emit a malevolent black smoke while they work, until the little button turns green and the wiggling stops... the other balls fail to open, instead they break in half on impact.

Tohru decides to stop messing around with the mutant Beowolf. The Persona strikes, and dozens of cuts appear in the black flesh of the monster... it doesn't seem to have any internals, just a void of homogeneous flesh... this a sickly green. The mutant also seems to have some regeneration ability, as it takes damage that should have killed it, sending it into a mist of black smoke. It's being kept at bay by the rapid strikes of the Persona though.
Selene That didn't quite work so well. The Gengar lingers in the air as it stares right at that Alpha's claw coming right for it, the shit-eating grin losing some of that grin status while the purple ball getes launched right into a tree with a painful crunching noise.

Luckily, it's the tree crunching more than the ghost Pokemon. Still, it's not a pleasant experience! With that plan gone down the drain, the Torracat relies on its small-ish size to try darting between the approaching Beowolves while its bell glows ever brighter. If those Beowolves don't back off, it just keeps on running, but also starts blasting massive gouts of flame as it tries getting back to Selene's side.

"Got a few! We'll worry about grabbing 'em later... Shockmaster! How's it going over there?" She calsl out to Adachi while ducking and covering as the Snorlax bides its time. It watches the rest of the Beowolves, staring them down through squinted eyes as if daring the rest of them to approach again. It's scratched up and bruised in several places, but it still stands strong!

The Gengar is still laying there. It may or may not be dead. Deader. Playing dead, probably.
Tohru Adachi      "Alright. Enough playing. Time to make some magic happen!"

Magatsu-Izanagi, being an extension of Adachi, responds without any delay to this statement by slamming it's weapon into the earth below, it's arms splayed out in an aggressive manner as it seems to be readying something.

There's tension in the air as the ground beneath the mutant Grimm starts to get unnaturally hot, small pieces of dirt lifting in the air as something probably bad is about to happen.

And then it actually happens. There's an ear shattering bass sound as the creature is engulfed in a sphere of growing white. It's not electricity, dark, or anything that can be considered an actual element. One might consider it beyond such scope. A true ALMIGHTY SPELL.

     "Tadaaah, Megidolaon~"

Adachi does some actual jazz hands to emphasize the announcement, even though he can't be certain if the creature is actually dead yet.
Yang Xiao Long     When the spell clears... there's no more Mutant Beowolf... seems it worked... though it also caused a bit of collateral damage, some of the ground and a few trees within the sphere's influence have also vaporized... this causes those said trees to topple since they're missing part of their trunks.

Meanwhile, the Alpha and the remaining Beowolves are eying their situation. Grimm rarely retreat, but those that live long enough learn to bide their time and only attack when they're guranteed success... this Alpha seems to be one of them.

As the small fire-cat manages to flambĂ© one of the chasing Beowolves, setting it alight and causing it to quickly burn away into ashy smoke, the Alpha bellows, turns a baleful pair of eyes on Selene in particular, before it turns and lopes away into the forest.

Yang reappears. "PLRR, you've got an Alpha heading in your direction, be advized." she says into her Scoll as she drops down to ground level. "Everyone alright? Any injuries? I've got a medkit for some first-aid, and we can get you looked at when we get back to Beacon."
Selene With the fighting finally over, Selene gets a moment to collet herself as the adrenaline rush wears off. "That... Was... Great!" She lets out an excited whoop before falling forwards from exhaustion, the Snorlax moving one hand aside to catch her before she can hit the ground.

Sure, she didn't physically do much beyond getting scratched up a bit, but still. It throws her onto its back, and she pulls out an old spray bottles out of her fanny-pack to start spraying it all over the giant bearcat in wide swaths.

"My team's okay, but we could use the more thorough stuff later, yeah. Nothing we haven't taken with other marathon training sessions! In... Like. Ten minutes?" She lifts her head briefly to check her watch, then shrugs before faceplanting back into the Snorlax's back and spraying its wounds some more. It takes her a moment longer to actually drop off the creature's back, suddenly scurrying to collect the still-intact Pokeballs. "But that was super fun. Thanks for taking us here, Yangangangbanga! Hey, Shockmaster!"

She's never going to stop calling Adachi that at this rate. "Didja get anything good? ! Oh! Oh! These were good! What should we name these?" She's already deep in thought while the Torracat launches itself onto her head and the Snorlax grabs the Gengar by the foot to drag it back towards the trainer.

At least one of her Pokemon's responsible.
Tohru Adachi      "Wait. Was it Megidola or Megidolaon? I always get those two mixed up. Whooopsie."

Adachi shrugs, truthfully speaking, he didn't mess them up, but he wasn't expecting that much collateral damage. Ah well, it's just a forest after all.

Adachi holsters his revolver inside his jacket again as Magatsu-Izanagi disappears into the Sea of Souls once more.

"I'm fine. I'm fine. Nothing I can't treat at home, honest. Anyway, we'll mark that down as a half success. Honestly though, I'll just stick to Shadows rather than Grimms. They're a lot more predictable."

There's a hit of annoyance in his voice as he says this, but it really doesn't show on his face.

Selene presents the two balls to Adachi and asks for names, which causes them to rub their chin. He's lost in thought for a bit, before he suddenly comes to a conclusion.

"Well, you get to name one of them, but name one of them Mara for me, alright? Least you can do for your good friend Adachi-sensei, yeah?"
Yang Xiao Long     "Yeah, that's why I said never underestimate the Grimm. They're /not/ predictable, especially the older ones like that Alpha. Team PLRR is a good team, they should be able to put it down before it can get any more experience, but these were relatively smallfry." remarks Yang. "I purposefully didn't take you after a Hunter Killer, cuz with that sloppy combat style, you'd both be dead and I'd be up shit-creek without a paddle, or a boat."

The blonde Huntress sighs, then signals for the Bullhead to come back around. "Well... gonna say not to expect much in the way of cooperation from 'em, but I dunno how those balls work, so..." she helplessly shrugs. "You might be the first one to actually get a Grimm to do what it's told... outside of the Schnee's and their Glyphs at least."
Tohru Adachi      "Uhuh."

Adachi's sort of just paying half attention to this point as he walks on over to the TV he brought in the beginning, placing a hand on the outer ridge before turning back towards Yang and Selene.

"Well, it's been fun. Catch you all on the...What do you kids call it? Oh, right!! The flip side. You're free to keep the TV by the way, think of it as thanks~"

With that, Adachi shoves one leg into the TV, a weird ripple forming on its surface as passes through without destroying the screen. The rest of his body joins him not long after, and soon the ex-detective is completely gone. If anyone bothers with the TV, they'll find out that despite looking nice and being rather big, it doesn't work. The insides are busted from an electric outage at some point at seems, so they actually probably bought it for rather cheap. Or got ripped off.
Selene "Megidololalo. Me-gi-doooo." Selene chants faux-ominously after Adachi, lingering a bit to peer at that weird crater he left behind. Still beaming despite the wounds, she hobbles a bit while watching Adachi climb right into that TV. "Mara, huh? that's a funny name. So Mara and..." She stares at the ball, then shrugs at Yang.

"Some sciencey stuff, I think. Heck if I know how any of it works 'cause it's all... NERD STUFF. But a second name... Rrr." She stares at that other Pokeball intensely, still trying to come up with something clever.

This could take her a while
