Hesinca HADES - EDGE OF TARTARUS

The group is given, for what are basically (literally) people doing community service (or one person doing community service and x number of tagalongs, anyway) they're given star treatment - a ready room with light refreshments, and then a personal escort to the job site by one of the employees here.

The fact that this appears to be literal mythological hell - the group passing by shadowy environments, lots of ghosts, and one guy pushing a boulder up a ramp eternally - might be a bit offputting, though.

"It's simple," says the employee, who goes by Megaera and who is a Fury (Hesinca, with points in afterlife lore, will explain further if needed). "You stand in this room, and wait for someone to come through this door."

She gestures at the door that the group just came through. "They'll be trying to get through to that door." She gestures at the door at the far end of the room - it's a spacious room, with recessed spike traps and cover pillars.

"If they are trying to go too fast, you stop them."

"Right," says Hesinca, not enthusiastically. "But - how fast is too fast, and stop them how?"

"Any amount of speed, and violence," says Meg, going over to a corner of the room to find a bit of wall to lean against.
Guzma Guzma is here. There's an eyeball-pattern winged mothbutterfly-like Pokemon perched on his shoulder like a bird. The Masquerain watches over, as Guzma stretches out next to Hesinca.

"So we have someone trying to escape death, and we fight them to keep them from leaving. Sounds...fine. Let's get your community service over with then, yo." He doesn't grab a Pokeball. Masquerain needs more attention. Yuuki told him to use monsters besides Golisopod and Scizor, so, he's not using them tonight!
Cantio Cantio's here, too! When she had heard that Hesinca needed a hand with working off a punishment possibly related to punching that one guy, she was quick to answer the call. Upon arriving in Tartarus, however, she's met with something unexpected: Traffic control!

Rather, traffic control in a more figurative sense rather than what she was thinking of. She arrives dressed like a crossing guard, complete with a lime green vest with yellow stripes and CROSSING GUARD in bold text, a whistle around her neck, and a matching green cap.

"I didn't know that was a thing people could even do. I mean, I've heard of cheating death, but escaping it?" She strokes her chin lightly, shrugging after a moment before propping the double sided STOP and GO sign against her shoulder. "W-well, it shouldn't be too hard, right? If anyone's trying to leave, going slowly would make things faster for them, anyway."
Captain Flint      Sisyphus gets a pitying look from Billy Bones as he and several other members of the Walrus crew pass, including Joji, John Silver, Captain Flint, and a few members of the boarding party.

"It's not an uncommon theme, in cosmologies where the underworld is a physical place," says the well-read captain to Cantio as his men begin setting down heavy duffelbags and carts full of supplies.

Sandbags, lumber, nails, black powder, rope, stones, strips of cloth, and various bottles, filled and un-filled.

Flint and Silver get to work filling empty bottles with stones, nails and black powder, tying them together with rope and bundles of lumber, much tighter at one end than the other. Each bundle is completed with a strip of cloth soaked in alcohol to serve as a fuse.

Meanwhile, the rest of the men set up sandbag fortifications, unloading them from the carts, making L-shapes with those cover pillars to limit movement from the other side of the room and create a line of cover. The spaces with booby traps beneath them are naturally left unobstructed.
Tamamo no Mae     Tamamo's here, chilling with the Hell Crew and Hesinca. "So, people wanting to escape this place... we stop them. If they go too fast, just beat them up?" pause, then some slips of paper slip out of her sleeve.. "Do we just... let them through if they're walking at a brisk pace? How fast is too fast?"
Hesinca "Any speed - if they're coming through here, they're going too fast. And nobody escapes death," says Megaera, from her seat. "Ever. But people try. And one person in particular-"

She's about to say something else - when the door slides open and a black-haired warrior makes his entrance, wielding an oversized shield. "Meg, you would not believe the day I'm having - wait..."

He looks around the room. "Summoner, crossing guard, angry centaur, painted lady, pirates with fortifications... Meg, I know you're not fond of our little rendezvous here, but did you have to go and invite your friends to spice things up?" he says, with a teasing tone.

"They're my early solstice present from your father, Prince," says Megaera. "I get to sit and watch while they kill you, and it's going to feel so cathartic. I wish I had set up video cameras so I could relive this moment again and again, seeing you beaten into the stones of Tartarus."

"Sorry, kill?" says Hesinca, glancing from the fury to Guzma and back. "That's a bit... much."

"He's immortal. He keeps coming back - despite our best efforts," says Megaera.

"Speaking of coming back, I should get going - name's Zagreus, nice to meet you, pleasure to make your acquaintance, now please do stand aside so I don't have to turn the power of the gods upon you," says Zagreus, who is at least polite as he takes up a fighting stance. "I'm most worried about the earful I'd get for increasing father's workload by ending you here."
Tamamo no Mae     "Fair enough, this one person you're talking about must be..." beat, "Speak of the devil and they shall appear, huh?" Tamamo stretches "If he's immortal, then I don't believe we should hold back. As the lady said, he's speeding, which is a violation punishable by death it seems. Or a very thorough beating."

At being called a summoner, she'll keep up the appearance and snap her fingers, one huge black armored knight like thing appears behind her and she points. "My dear Aggressor... do me a favor and eliminate him." she'll snap her fingers again and another... and another... appear right behind her. Three hulking armored knights.

She'll turn towards everyone, "Shall we have our fun now then?" and with one final snap, and a point, the three armored knights do what their namesake says. Agress the immortal with huge swords!
Captain Flint      "John Silver, quartermaster of the Walrus," says the quartermaster amiably to Zagreus. A gesture to Flint, "Our captain, James Flint, the boatswain, Billy Bones, leader of the boarding party, Joji, and a few members of the same behind us. The pleasure's ours--"

"Mr. Silver," says Flint tersely, loading a handgun and pulling back the slide.

"Oh, I was just going to tell Zagreus here that he's welcome to come back tomorrow." Silver offers Zagreus a winning smile, glancing back at Flint. "After all, he's immortal! Surely he's got nothing but time."

There's a pause. The rest of them, Flint included, seem to think it's a fair point. But it won't land--probably because Zagreus could easily make the same argument back at them.

Flint doesn't give time for a counterargument, nor does he argue against Tamamo's proposal. Aiming the M1911 at Zagreus, he opens fire, and as the swords appear his men dive behind the sandbags.
Cantio "Any speed? Then..." Cantio turns her sign around so STOP is facing frontwards. "But if that's the case, is anyone going to...?"

Indeed, someone does arrive! Straightening up at the warrior's arrival, Cantio straightens up and listens to the exchange between him and Megaera. She glances between the two steadily while being careful not to actually move her head, the awkwardness in the room increasing exponentially with each additional piece of info.

"That's... Y-yeah, even if he is immortal, isn't... I mean, wouldn't his father get mad if we killed his son?" Another pause, and then Cantio turns to Megaera in disbelief. "W-wait, so this has happened before?!"

Her shoulders sag, but only momentarily as she straightens up again to give Zagreus a light curtsey at his greeting. "Cantio, pleased to meet you as well. Erm. Circumstances notwithstanding and all that." She giggles briefly before setting the stop sign down, and a set of wheels pops out of the base before carrying the whole thing towards the other end of the room.

"I'm afraid we can't back down either, so if you won't turn around..." Her hand goes up, an anime-large sword with a translucent blade shimmers into existence, and she snatches it out of the air with both hands. "We'll just have to stop you here. Whenever you're ready!" She crouches slightly to keep a firm stance, keeping the tip pointed straight at Zagreus while watching his shield cautiously.

At Flint's signal, Cantio goes on the offensive as well. Instead of rushing forward to thrust or swing her weapon at him, though, the tip of her weapon shoots out a burst of light magic in the form of multiple arcing lasers!
Guzma As the score is laid out, Guzma introduces himself. "I'm Guzma, Dealer of Destruction, and-" And then Megaera reveals they're going to have to kill this kid.

"I'll take rear guard, you know, near Megaera here." He's not going to publicly say 'I don't want to kill anyone' because that kills his cred, but he doesn't want to kill anyone. "I think between the three of you, though, you'll be able to handle it. But if he gets past you, yo..." Knuckle-crack, showingly.

"So, he's the son of...Hades? Why doesn't he just ask his dad for a vacation?"
Hesinca Tamamo was not, in fact, the summoner that Zagreus was referring to. Nobody corrects her, though.

The armored knights come at Zagreus. He brings up his shield, blocking one blow, blocking two blows -

- Captain Flint's crew opens fire. This takes him entirely off guard, and he's riddled with bullet holes, as well as creating an opening for Tamamo's summons to get more solid blows in, and then Cantio fires lasers that rake across his back!

"Ask his dad for a vacation - that would only work if they did anything but snark and grump at each other," says Meg, who seems to be fine with Guzma sitting back and taking the rear guard. She seems to enjoy the thought of having some company and/or more audience to Zagreus's impending beatdown. "I can hear it now - 'BOY, a vacation? Do you think we have time for vacations down here?' 'Well father wheedle wheedle wheedle snark,'" says Megaera, doing impressions.

"Well - you lot certainly are aggressive!" says Zagreus, finally remembering that he can dash out of trouble and then proceeding to do just that. "Certainly an admirable trait, but have you considered..."

He grabs his shield with both hands. "That the best offense..."

And then he flings it. It bounces around between everyone before returning to his hands. "Is a good DEFENSE?"
Tamamo no Mae     Tamamo grins at her Aggressors, landing a decent blow, especially after Flint's crew gives a good distraction. Unfortunately, that distraction gives Zagreus his own opening as well, the Caster-class servant tries to dodge from the sudden shield that's launched around, catching her square in the stomach, as it bounces off, the fox stumbling back from that and the Aggressors despawn after their assault. "That... that's usually the case." she comments, "But, don't count on your defenses to last..."

"Flint, cover me." she requests as she moves to try to position herself behind him, meanwhile flinging magically imbued paper towards Zagreus. Said paper ignites and streaks towards him, a good three or four fireballs about as big as a soccer ball are aimed right towards his chest, trying to ignite him in a blaze of un-glory. "I need a bit of time to cast another spell, it should help reduce his defenses." she comments, "Assuming it works on immortal people.."
Captain Flint      Joji had just leaned up from his position behind one of the pillars to attempt a potshot on Zagreus with an ornate-looking arquebus. As cries of 'get down' echo between the crew, he is the last to take action, not accustomed to dealing with wildly richocheting projectiles. He gets himself back behind that pillar, but not quickly enough to keep from getting clipped in the shoulder. The weapon clatters against the ground as he's knocked off his feet.

"We take our work very seriously," calls Silver back, laying down covering fire for Joji to run and get his weapon--Silver's choice is some kind of lever-action rifle, breech loaded. He's a good shot, but he's not the main attraction. Nor are the other pirates, with their muskets, or Billy with his assault rifle.

"COVER TAMAMO! FIRE POTS!" Shouts Flint over the gunfire. Those bottles--the ones with alcohol still in them, and oily rags stuffed in the necks, are hurled overhead, some being shot, others just chucked straight at Zagreus, shattering. They're not lit--they don't have to be, because Tamamo is bringing plenty of fire.
Cantio "I... Um. I don't think that's how that phrase wo-OH NO"

Why is he throwing a shield like that? That is not how shields are supposed to work, but that is exactly how it's working right now and Cantio does not like it. Letting the front of her sword tip downwards for just a moment, she tries to deflect the entirely thing by pushing the handle upwards as the shield makes contact, ideally diverting the defensive implement turned boomerang into the ceiling harmlessly!

The theory is sound, but in practice, it just means that the shields rolls right over her hands in that entire process. She bites back what would most certainly be a colorful outburst of words from the pain, but tries to brush that momentary suckage off with more focus on the fight once more.

"If you all need coverage, then..." Steeling herself for what will surely lead to more pain in the near future, Cantio charges straight at Zagreus! "How long have you been here, if I might ask?"

She can still try to keep up some sort of pleasantries, at least. Still keeping the tip pointed at him, Cantio flicks the weapon sideways just moments before it would have hit Zagreus' shield before snapping it back into position immediately afterwards, trying to knock his shield off-center with the flat of the blade and following up with a firmer thrust to the anywhere she can reach.
Guzma "So, then they don't have a good relationship. That's a shame. Hades must be pretty busy, and Zagreus here must be pretty isolated. But the fact you guys gotta kill him to 'keep him in line' sucks." Guzma scratches his head. He's keeping his eye on the battle, too.

"I mean, not that this place isn't...cool, but I wonder if you guys got like, one of those Xboxs, if it'd keep him down here." Half joking, as Masquerain stifles a coo.
Hesinca Fireballs! Pots of flaming pitch! So much burning!

"Blood and darkness," says Crispy Zagreus, dodging back and forth frantically and not *quite* succeeding in avoiding everything. "What is with you mortals and fire, anyway! It's like some sort of morbid fascination-"

And then he gets his shield knocked away and stabbed in the gut. "Guh- gotta call in the big guns, then..."

"Aphrodite!" calls Zagreus up at the ceiling. "Lend me your aid!"

The lights darken for a moment. "Ah, little Hades, are you having some troubles with these tough, strong, burly men? Don't worry, I'll go and I'll take care of things for you..."

As Zagreus focuses on defense, a set of floating hearts appear from him and zoom outwards, curving through the air to target and close in on Cantio, Tamamo, and each member of Flint's crew including Flint himself.

"Dear mortals - set aside all thoughts of battle, turn your aggression into love, worship me and never feel loneliness ever again..."

The hearts, if they hit, sting like hell. But they also cause feelings of love and contentment to bloom, which are arguably good... if this wasn't in the middle of a heated battle.

Meanwhile, a pair of floating orbs have appeared in the room - one bearing a wineglass symbol, one bearing a wheat symbol. They hover in an enticing way, as if inviting someone to reach out and touch them...
Cantio There's a moment where Cantio actually looks worried when she stabs Zagreus in the gut. She swallows anxiously, holding in that reaction as best she can while still feeling a knot in the pit of her own gut.

She'll get over it one day.

Getting over it today might be a little easier, though, when Zagreus calls for assistance from a mysterious voice, followed by said voice calling her 'burly'. "I-I'm not burly! How could any of this be considered burly?!"  She shouts at the mysterious voice, her hold on the weapon shifting briefly as she steps back when those hearts appear.

"A god? Or... An idol, even? Which one are you?" She asks, only feeling mildly silly talking to someone she can't see, but that feeling fades when the hearts aimed at her hit her square in the chest. She staggers back, holding her weapon with only one hand now while clawing at her chest.

She can feel her pulse quickening, her face burning, her hands sweating more than before. Cantio's faltering visibly, and it looks like she might not even be able to move for a bit! The best she can manage is muttering a low command, but nothing comes from her.

Instead, it's that stop sign she had left at the exit that springs into action. The edges of the sign start whirring as the wheels launch it forward, darting about back and forth around Zagreus like a buzzsaw on wheels trying to keep him at bay until Cantio's back in her right state of mind!
Hesinca "Xbox - ah, mortal entertainment. Not likely. He has a dog, he has a spacious bedroom, he has any number of trinkets and a scrying pool and a personal trainer," Megaera says to Guzma. "Freedom and the outside world is still too much of an enticement."

"Besides, he would then demand chips and that substance called 'mountain dew'.
Captain Flint      "Ask Proteus," calls Flint, as he ducks his head to insert a new clip. Behind the nearest pillar, Joji has retrieved his arquebus. But there's a problem.

"Aphrodite?" Asks Billy Bones, having freshly reloaded his assault rifle.

"Beauty and love," replies the Captain, hesitant to pop his head up in the darkness. "On my mark, move to new cover."

Billy laughs. "Beauty and love? What's she going to do--" Hearts begin swarming their position.

"NEW COVER! TAKE THE CHARGES! Joji, keep him off Cantio!"

The men scoop up what improvised charges they can, breaking into sprints to avoid the swarm of stinging hearts, some hitting the deck. Billy and Silver end up sharing a pillar, so too Flint and one of the vanguard, the others having rotated to create a crossfire.

Meanwhile, Joji tosses his arquebus aside, running to prepare an iaijutsu strike on Zagreus, hip to shoulder, right to left. If Zagreus thought the men were aggressive before, Joji is relentless--and very much less fun to banter with for his lack of talking.

He jukes and weaves around her stop sign, working with it to try and deny Zagreus a moment's peace.
Tamamo no Mae     And Tamamo gets some cover and starts to chant. She peers over from the side of Flint, aiming for right under Zagreus... "O' dear Sun, scorch this poor soul's body." she starts... and suddenly /he/ summons someone and it distracts her enough that her spell's interrupted. "Aphrodite? The goddess of love?" she questions idly to herself... only for her eyes to focus on the hearts that are in the air... and zooming towards herself and the rest. "You don't understand, I am a goddess in my own realms... do you think I'll..."

And the heart hits her, and possibly the one meant for Flint too... and suddenly Tamamo goes silent.

Her eyes open... she looks around... "My love.." she whispers, "Isn't here." as she turns towards Aphrodite and aims her sleeve at her... "I'll definitely love you, the sun goddess and the goddess of love, together?" she smiles, before shaking her head and smacking it a few times, "However, I think my HUSBAND will take offense to going with you!"

And talismans shoot out from the sleeve, forming into ice spears towards 'Hades' and Aphrodite. Though, they seem to be pink colored right now.
Hesinca "Oh blood and darkness -" says Zagreus as he tries to dodge, and misses his mark.

And then Joji slices into him, and Tamamo launches ice spears at him, and the stop sign comes in and nicks his shin-

-And he dies. There's a burst of blood from where he's been hit - and then everything seems to slow down for a moment - and then the blood all flows back into him, his wounds close up, and he's back on his feet.

"Oh blood and darkness -" says Megaera. "He does that 'extra lives' thing sometimes and it's super annoying when you think you've gotten him - just hit him again!" she calls.

"I'd rather they not," says Zagreus, changing direction and going for one of the floating orbs. "Demeter!"

The temperature in the room seems to lower a bit. "Well grandson, I see you have a feast of foes before you. Accept my blessing and we shall turn that feast into a famine."

The shield seems to freeze over as Zagreus then grips it and throws it - and as it careens around the room, it leaves a trail of frost and ice in its wake...
Captain Flint "Harvest," calls Flint, before Billy can even open his mouth.

"Jesus, how do you know all this shit?" he shouts back.

"Self-educated," answers the captain. "I've a few books you can borrow upon our return."

No one is sure what to expect--but at Flint's call of "ROTATE!" that's exactly what they do. Save Joji, who combat rolls to the side and attempts to swipe Zagreus' legs from under him. He's determined.

Silver nearly trips in his haste, falling into the frost, but Billy grabs him by the collar and throws him behind the next pillar.

"Watch the frost!" calls one of the pirates. Billy has to leap over a trail to rejoin Silver, the shield nearly braining him in the process. There's precious little time to get behind cover again before Flint's next command.

It's also a warning for one of his allies. "POWDER CHESTS! JOJI, CANTIO, GET CLEAR!" Joji makes one final retreating swipe, retreating out of the line of fire.

Those 'charges.' Bundles of boards fastened around tightly packed bottles, filled with black powder, pebbles and nails, to make crude directional explosives. Crude, but disastrously effective--these same charges are the kind used by ships to pre-emptively clear decks of boarders.

Flint, with his, at the northeast end, a member of the vanguard to light it. Silver and Billy, lighting theirs, northwest. Two others are lit by the remainder of the contingent here, aimed diagonally at Zagreus.

The result is an X-shaped shower of nails, broken glass and pebbles, superheated from the explosion, all aimed at Zagreus.
Cantio This feeling isn't so bad. Is this what it's like to be in love? Cantio knows in the back of her mind it's not real, but even as fleeting as it is, surely she can let herself indulge in that fantasy for just one more-

And then she gets whacked in the side by that damn shield again. Buckling over slightly from what might as well be a kidney shot, Cantio stays on one knee for a while as she takes that moment to catch her breath. To steel herself. To funnel her emotions into righteous fury.

"... Why would you even do that?! There's foul play, and then there's THAT! You need to take responsibility for doing that kind of thing!"

She sounds upset, to say the least. Bringing that blade back up, Cantio adjusts her stance again as she holds her sword in front of her with the tip pointed upwards at an angle. What she truly wants is to get in there and just hammer the crap out of Zagreus, but she hears that warning from Flint and gives in to peer pressure.

Instead, she leaps back, staggering briefly with a wince, then flings her sword at his... The ceiling? Yes, she flings it over Zagreus' head but it doesn't sail right over harmlessly as would be expected with gravity being what it is. Instead, the weapon bursts into multiple smaller ones, lining the ceiling with countless little needles all pointed right at Zagreus. Once the handle is all that's left, the flechettes all unleash a powerful blast of sound waves simultaneously, unleashing a massive sonic boom centered on Hades' son!

Cantio will probably feel bad about that later, but not now. She still look like she's about to cry.
Tamamo no Mae     Tamamo drops to her knees after that last one, seeing the burst of blood after the combined attack. "Finally, okay, that was... "

And a river of blood flows through and in him. Tamamo's face looks stoic but inside, she's cursing up a storm. And then Megaera explains it. Extra lives? Is this some sort of video game?

Tamamo shakes her head and then moves to get up, she looks very unsteady and then... he tosses his shield? And there's frost coating the ground. Tamamo moves to brace herself, guarding herself against the incoming attack, but it slams right into her, knocking the literal wind out of her and shoving her to the side. She rolls around and comes to a stop and, for a moment, it looks like she won't ever get back up... until she does. With a handful of talismans, already seething with fire "How dare..." she frowns, "How dare you play with emotions then this... and how dare you get up when we killed you!"

She wobbles, standing up slowly before launching those flame talismans towards Zagreus... "Burn, burn in the fire of my fury!"
Hesinca Zagreus, for being near dead and having just come back from life, sure is still moving quickly, dashing across the room and back as people try to focus on him.

"If you're calling foul play about making mortals fall in love for their own selfish reasons, you probably shouldn't pick up a mythology textbook," calls Zagreus, as his dodging path takes him nearby Cantio. "Besides, you'll get over it, find a nice man, or woman, or tree or bull or goose or shower of golden rain or what have you-"

He brings his shield up at the last second. Improbably, the shield, held straight upwards, manages to somehow deflect the soundwaves.

That does, however, leave him open for fires.

"BLOOD AND DARKNESS-"

It's a mercy, really, when the charges go off, finally ending it.

"No-"

Zagreus dies. The burnt remains crumple to the ground dramatically...

... and a river of blood rises up out of the ground, enveloping his remains, and just as swiftly receding.

"Oh that was great," says Megaera, getting up from her seat, all smiles. "Finally put that spoiled little princeling in his place - and look at that, not even one of you died."
Guzma From where he was hanging out, Guzma moves to rejoin the group as Zagreus is slain. He looks Away from the gruesome death.

"Good job, yo. Good hustle." He gang-signs, and moves to start helping any of the wounded, if there are any, asking Flint's men if they have bandages he can apply.
Cantio "Why a tree?!"

Cantio is going to have to pick up a mythology textbook later.

With Zagreus terribly murdered, she finally calms down enough to realize what's just happened. "Is he really going to be alright after all that?" She tries to sound concerned, but it's hard to actually do that considering how salty she still is over that strange thing Aphrodite did earlier. Her heart's still racing, but now it's more from the adrenaline wearing off than anything else. "Someone dying and just coming back repeatedly is still something that's kind of strange to think about. But..."

Holding her hand up, the pieces of sword start fading in shimmers of light rapidly, and then Cantio picks her stop sign back up. "This means our job is done for today, right? Er... Good work, everyone!" She tries to speak with a perked up tone, sniffling briefly while joining Guzma (and badly imitating his signs) before casting healing spells to help get the group patched up. "Just how often does he come through here, anyway?"

"Has he ever gotten out?"
Captain Flint      "Well, that was grim," says John Silver, stepping out from behind a pillar, where he'd peered at the river of blood.

"It's fairly standard for this cosmology," replies Flint nonchalantly, as the crew congregates in the middle and begins packing up their fortifications and unused supplies, loading them onto carts along with those duffel bags.

"Yeah, I'm with Cantio... bulls, gooses, golden rain and trees?" Billy begins gathering up some of the undamaged lumber. That's valuable stuff.

"Zeus, mostly. The bull was just a bull."

The boatswain's face screws up in distaste. "Why?"

John Silver, smelling blood in the water, chimes in. "Oh, come on, it's not like you haven't heard of it. Just last week Josiah broke Mr. Packard's nose over the dairy goat!"

Flint chuckles. "I'm glad we could be of service, Megaera. Please give the rest of the Erinyes our regards, and don't hesitate to call on us again." He pauses. "...not to tell the Underworld or a Fury their business, but you might consider petitioning Hades to let the boy outside, just once. If he's truly everything his father believes him to be, then he'll no doubt tire of life among mortals and return here with his tail between his legs. And if he doesn't..." Flint casts an eye to Silver, who's sat on the cart adjusting his prosthetic leg.

"If he doesn't get tired of it," continues the quartermaster with that charming smile of his, "Then you've rid yourself of someone who doesn't want to be here."
Hesinca "No," says Megaera. "Never. Nobody gets out of Hades."

"Yeah - job's done, you sign off on my community service with extra credit for bringing a crew, right?" prompts Hesinca, zeroing in on the important part.

"Yes - the job's done. Unless you want to stick around to knock him down again next time he tries this."

Hesinca looks at Guzma - who doesn't have a taste for this bloodshed, then Tamamo who's furious, Flint and crew who seem weary and unsettled, and Cantio who just got a direct blast from a love god and might need therapy.

Sticking around to deliver endless beatdowns to uppity mythological figures is *right* up her alley, but she's trying to figure out this empathy thing and make it work.

"No thanks, I think we're just going to go home," says Hesinca. "Thanks for your help, all," she adds, to her allies.
Tamamo no Mae     "I almost came close..." Tamamo mutters, "Glad he isn't getting back up." though with some of the main questions being asked, she looks towards Guzma, "Thanks, I appreciate it. Glad you stood back, he was a pain..." she shakes her head and sighs, moving to stand up fully, wincing in pain. "Mikon... that was more painful than I expected, but... yeah, I need to .. rest. I used up quite a bit of mana to even keep going from that."

She turns to Hesinca, "Glad I could help you, if you need more, you know where to get me." a beat, a turn towards Megaera, "Who... in their right mind is able to summon gods like that?"
Hesinca "They're rooting for him to get out. They send him boons. It's a pain," says Megaera, with a tone indicating that she has to deal with getting blasted with all sorts of godly bullshit on a regular basis.

Hesinca, fellow recurring miniboss, winces in sympathy.
Tamamo no Mae     There's a curious glint upon her eyes, "And... what would happen if he /did/ get out?" comes the fox, "And... what's he in here for anyways?"
Hesinca "In for? Being born here, I suppose," says Megaera. "Same as the rest of us."
Cantio "Zeus? What does this Zeus have to do with...?" Cantio starts to ask, then reconsiders. Her expression is already a combination of upset, confused, and horrified. No need to make that right this moment. "I.. Um. Y-yeah, I think I'm ready to go now. Er. Thank you for having us."

Megaera gets a polite bow, and then Hesinca gets a slightly forced, but still friendly smile. "You're welcome. Let's just hope any other work doesn't involve this level of..."

She just gestures vaguely and doesn't finish that sentence.  Therapy will very likely be needed sooner rather than later.
Tamamo no Mae     Tamamo makes a confused face, "Huh..." she shakes her head a bit and bows a bit, "Well, should you need some... help. I wouldn't mind a rematch with him. Even if it was... strange." She stretches, winces in pain, "I'm with Cantio... let's get out of here."
