Miyamomo     Miyamomo was right, this place is deserted. The collapsed Njorun dominates the distant skyline, the view unmarred by any hills or ridges. It's perfectly flat, no dips, no rises save the occasional boulder half-submerged in the dirt. It really is... kind of ideal for anyone who can fly and attack from afar really. No cover, nothing to crash into mid-flight. Is this pity on Miyamomo's behalf? Or just a mistake?

Either way, she's not hard to find. A single, thin, unbroken column of violet smoke rises from a single point, disrupted not by the light breeze blowing across the plains. The source is the nine-tails herself, standing there with a pipe between her lips. Nearby are some unearthed rocks, crudely smashed into the shape of chairs for any onlookers who come to see.
Utsuho Reiuji Utsuho is equally visible at a long distance, though for different reasons. Miyamomo's got her seat and her pipe, but Utsuho is flying, wings spread and getting a boost from what looks like a rocket-thrust of flame. She makes a point of light in the sky that resolves into a bird-winged figure as she descends, stooping downward before finally just dropping the last ten feet or so, the 'thrusters' going out as she does.

"Man, this place is a mess." Utsuho doesn't seem like she disapproves of it, precisely, but it certainly is nothing but rocks and open space. She looks around for a few moments before focusing straight at Miyamomo. She's easy to identify. Just count the tails.

"So you're Miyamomo? Nice to meet you!" Utsuho is far too cheerful for someone who showed up specifically to fight someone. "I'm Utsuho Reiuji!"
Rubi-Kan Vagrants      Bercilak showed up to watch. He's hard to miss. Not just because his hoverbike is the kind of armored huge that screams 'military surplus,' but because the engine also screams. Or, more accurately, roars. A constant needle of white flame spits from the shuttered thruster at the back of the green and gold behemoth, the light of the sky reflected on the decals of hounds and the prey they chase.

Motivators on the front tilt upwards and the shutters at the thruster shift, as the roar 'quiets' and slows to a series of rhythmic detonations that seem to shake the very air, thudding at one's chest with each, until they finally stop.

A cushion of rapidly ionized air keeps the bike afloat when it comes in for a landing, the wash still forceful enough to shake the heavy stone chairs and send curtains of dust and detritus rippling out in a helical pattern. That, too, dies down, and with a heavy thud, the bike lands just a few feet from the smash-made seating arrangements.

Bercilak's thick arms come free from the recessed steering controls on the console. He dismounts and stretches, cracking his neck. The attire is about what you'd expect--a white tank top, tight black jeans, motorcycle boots. The tank top bears a flaming, grinning skull and a slogan. Across the top, kissing the flames:

DO I LOOK LIKE I GIVE A SHIT
        BECAUSE I REALLY DO

     And below the jaw:

        APPEARANCES ARE DECEIVING
I DUNNO HOW I COME ACROSS TO YOU BITCH
        BUT I AM LISTENING
Hellwarming Trio Rin: "I'm tellin' ya. You totally called her out!"
Utsuho: "If you say so. I'm pretty sure I'd remember doing something cool like that, though. Uh... Where're we headed again?"
Rin: "This is bad even for you. Come on, I know I heard one o' you mention this place. See, right over... There?"

As the pair of youkai idly drift through the remains of Njorun, the red-headed one slows to a complete stop as she gawks at the rocket-like flames in the distance. Rin's eyes follow that trail of flame to the figure responsible for said flames, looking between her and Miyamomo several times before looking at the similar-looking bird-themed figure beside her.

"Oh. Hey, it's me. Hey, me!" Spectator!Utsuho shouts towards Utsuho with a rather clueless look on her face, although she's still about as eager as ever to see whatever it is she's come here to see or do. "What're you doing all the way out here?" Even as she finishes saying that, though, the arrival of Bercilak and various context clues start helping her piece things together!

She also gives Bercilak a lazy thumbs-up after reading his shirt. "Good job making all that stuff fit on there."

Rin, meanwhile, continues going through her existential crisis as she keeps glancing between the Utsuhos while at a complete loss for words and grasping her head as though that might help her somehow.
Miyamomo     "It is. I've no idea why. Supposedly before my time," Miyamomo says, licking her thumb and pressing it against the bowl of the pipe to extinguish whatever she has in there. "But one can't make the site of a lost battle any uglier~ That means we can go all out."

The pipe vanishes up the sleeve of her kimono as she formally bows to Utsuho. "And I am Miyamomo, master of the nameless style. I am gladdened to meet you in person Utsuho Reiuji. Thank you for the suggestion that we fight. I have been looking forward to it."

The onlookers arrive. The roar of the engine, drowned out only by the loudness of his shirt, draws Miyamomo's attention. "Knight Bercilak, yes? Thank you for coming~" The other Utsuho arrives, making Miyamomo blink. "Oh my, you didn't mention a twin sister. You even dress alike, how adorable~"

"Now..." Miyamomo assumes a stance. Her hands are not clenched, but held open palm with slightly bent fingers. Similar to the ways a wrestler might keep their hands, in anticipation of grabbing foes rather than striking them. She turns, minimizing her presented profile to Utsuho. She kicks off her sandals and bounces on her toes. Her eyes become clear, and her smile confident rather than coy. "I'll offer the first strike to the challenger. Whenever you're ready."
Hibiki Tachibana     Hibiki has also showed up to watch, as she said she would. Once again however, she lacks a cool ride to also drive onto the scene with, and once again wishes she had both a license and a motorbike. This is also not something she can really just /ask/ to get a ride for. The area of the collapsed Njorun is pretty wide and vast though, so how is she going to get there?

She really just took the nearest warpgate and hoofed it. It was a little further than she was hoping for. Lagging behind the roar of the Green Knight's hoverbike, and also the Other Utsuho She Actually Knows (and Rin) flying in, Hibiki jogs over the horizon looking half-dead on her feet and with her jacket tied around her waist, leaving her in the black tanktop underneath. Halfway here, it looks like just coming to watch turned into an improptu exercise all in its own right.

After a minute, she makes it over to the spot of the other spectators and practically falls over into a cross-legged seat on the ground right then and there, drinking from a water bottle before anything. "Pfeh--hi, Bercilak. Utsuho. I'm not too late, right?" She looks to Rin.

She looks to the two fighters squaring up, and then back to the confused youkai. She gets it.

"...Well, it's a big multiverse out there. Y'know, there's probably another of 'you'. Or a lot of 'yous'. Don't think about it too hard." She nods, as if this helps at all. "Just think of them as different people who look the same. That's how I do it."
Utsuho Reiuji Utsuho stares at Bercilak's bike as it descends. It is the first one she has ever seen - not the first vehicle, but the first heavy hoverbike that looks and sounds like that. She watches it come in for a landing, slow, and finally stop. And then, slightly awed: "I want one."

Her expression of awe turns into irritation when she hears a different voice. Her voice, but it never sounds quite the same when you hear it coming from someone else. "Oh, it's you," she says. "I came to fight! I challenged her," a gesture at Miyamomo, "because she kept talking like she thought she knew everything about fighting and I wanted to find out for real. Hi, Rin! I meant to tell you that there's two of us but - "

Something sinks in. Utsuho makes a face. " - Right. There's two of you too, isn't there? If you came with her. But... hi, I guess." She turns to Miyamomo, points at the other Reiuji and Rin with her left hand, and says, very firmly, "They're not with me. I can't help that she has the same clothes!"

She doesn't bother really entering a fighting stance but just... stands, still facing Miyamoto mostly square, the control rod replacing the lower part of her right arm slightly raised. Then she realizes she should bow back, and does *that*, before returning to her prior position.

"Well, okay," she says, before raising her rod-arm and spraying a rough blast of little white-red energy pellets, shotgun-style. She appears to be going more for quantity than quality - they're not all that powerful, though there's enough of them in a spreading pattern to be hard to individually avoid.
Rubi-Kan Vagrants      "Nay," he says in polite-quiet volume to Hibiki. Yes, he's capable of that. "Thou alenden tidili!" She's just in time. There's a pause, a concerned glance over her--and the concern vanishes when he sees that she's brought water with her. "Al be that, thou shouldst ofaxe mine assistinge 'pon thy persequent journei." That thing isn't built for two, despite its size. But it's so huge that someone brave or stupid enough could probably balance somewhere on it.

There's a friendly wave to Miyamomo and the Utsuho which shall fight today, his grin broad and excited. All seven and a half feet of biker flops unceremoniously into one of those crude stone seats. The first strike is offered to Utsuho, and he leans forward in tense expectation.

"A laude most craftuous," he softly notes, slapping his knee eagerly. A light barrage like that is hard to slip past, and allows Utsuho some insight into Miyamomo's defensive philosophy, without overcommiting. There's a glance towards the spectating Utsuho. He pats the seat beside him. "Come--tell me whither thou wouldst ofact differentli."
Miyamomo     The battle begins! A cluster of tight orbs of light soar at Miyamomo. She watches them approach, not moving. "Hm, I see. A tightly packed arrangement of projectiles, designed to be difficult to avoid. In spite of her impressive build and evident flight speed, she must prefer to fight from a distance. Though she may have some devastating up-close attack like Ichigohime. Ah, they're almost here. Difficult to avoid..."

Miyamomo blurs. For an instant, it's like there's nine of her running in different directions. And then she's through the scattershot, unhamed, unhinged. "But not impossible," she says aloud, as if everyone was privy to her inner monologue. "One does not easily grasp Mist in their hand."

With that same speed, she covers the distance between she and Utsuho, grabbing her upon the control rod, by the elbow. She yanks it forward with surprising, hard-to-resist strength, and her leg kicks out. Almost casually, to perfectly catch the stumble her yank would cause to completely knock Utsuho off-balance. And then guiding her fall with that hand on her rod to make her flip forward and land on her back with a thump. "But Mist is ever-prevalent. You cannot escape it once it surrounds you."
Hellwarming Trio Utsuho: "Nah, I think you're on time. I think me challenged her, but Orin's too dumb to tell the difference between us. Heh. Don't let either of us down, fox!"
Rin: "Bhgh... H. Wh."

Rin's still having some trouble processing all of this. Sure, she's heard Utsuho and Spectator!Utsuho speaking simultaneously, but actually seeing the same-enough person in two spots is doing a number on her. Enough so, even, that Spectator!Utsuho has to actually pick Rin up and carry her the rest of the way to the seats. Hibiki's suggestion has her nodding slowly, at least, although it might be more out of reflex than any true understanding of what she's saying.

She'll get it eventually.

Spectator!Utsuho, meanwhile, just laughs at the notion of twins and wearing the same clothes. A moment later, though, she peers down at herself. "... Hmm. Maybe that's what I could do with the money." A beat, and then she looks over at Bercilak before setting Rin down beside Hibiki and taking a seat next to the giant.

"I'd go bigger. If I'm fighting someone for fun, it's gotta be flashy, right?" Spectator!Utsuho replies, tapping her chin lightly as she watches the fight further. "Although... Hm. Maybe that me's not too far off, either. This fox looks like she can see and react to stuff real good. Fighting her up close could be tricky..."
Utsuho Reiuji Utsuho is, contrary to popular belief...

Okay, she really is not always terribly clever. But she does occasionally have a good idea out of sheer instinct, and that spray-shot was one of them; she wanted to see how Miyamomo moved, and she's just learned that. What precisely has she learned?

"Oh that's fast!!"

Utsuho is powerful, there's no question about that, but she doesn't really use finesse, and Miyamomo's style is completely opposed to her own. She feels her arm get grabbed, and her reaction is to jet backwards; she gets a few feet, dragging Miyamomo along, before being tumbled to the ground. She hits on her back with a heavy thump, thankfully not folding either of her wings underneath her.

And then she kicks off, backwards, and begins to fly up. Up from her point of view, which is along the ground - and then she spins, literally diving into the ground with a rumble and a flash of extraordinarily bright white-yellow light.

Utsuho leaves a hole behind as she burrows into the earth, flying and using her power to destroy the stone in front of her. She could be running away, but a few moments later the ground underneath Miyamomo begins to glow a dull red, rumbling - and then Utsuho *explodes* out of it, showering the area with fragments of red-hot rocks and leaving a second hole behind, this one caught in a maze of cracked stone from where she punched out through it. She is not aiming at the crowd but they might want to watch their heads for stray pebbles.

Utsuho hovers in the air about ten feet up, surrounded by a bright solar corona. "Yes, but - Mist goes away in the sun!" she calls back.
Hibiki Tachibana     There's a quiet sigh of relief in between all the pants from exertion when it's confirmed she still made it on time by the lot of them - then she looks towards Bercilak's hoverbike, has a moment of contemplation, and then shakes her head. "Thanks, but I wouldn't wanna impose. Besides, the exercise is good for me." Hibiki pauses, then adds on, "...But it might be kinda cool next time." There is definitely a 'I want to ride the cool bike' vibe in there beneath her murmuring.

Getting comfortable up next to Rin, she draws one leg up to rest her chin on and watch the fight proper now, following Miyamomo's blurred movement as best she can. Her eyes narrow at the close-in and ensuing sweep...and then Utsuho (Fighter's) fall, only to dive right back down. When the ground completely explodes, she's glad that they're a reasonable distance away.

As reasonable as you can get when nuclear hellcrows are involved, anyway. "Throwing around huge attacks like that really limits what you can do to completely avoid them though, no matter how fast you are...unless you just power right through them," she comments, remembering one of Miyamomo's earlier radio-based hypotheticals.
Rubi-Kan Vagrants      Bercilak chuckles and lightly claps Near!Utsuho on the back. "I lik wel thy awening," he says. He can respect flashy, under the right circumstances.

Fight!Utsuho's attempted escape is certainly spectacular, in a visual sense. "'Twould biseme thy contre-parte ithinkes to--" One of those red-hot rocks lands a few feet away from the sole of his boot, and he utters a low whistle.

"...to oversail Miyamomo's wondrouse velocite with assailinge incustumed." Attacking a martial artist from the cover of the earth means that much of the usual tells--the movement of the eyes, the tensing of the muscles--are hidden.

[Vicinity] Hibiki: Throwing around huge attacks like that really limits what you can do to completely avoid them though, no matter how fast you are...unless you just power right through them.

"Preciseli my electinge," he says with a grin. Deflecting stuff with skill is within his wheelhouse, but powering through like a bull in a china shop is just... fun. "Ak wondren I hau her 'nameless style' shalt sware swich assailing."
Miyamomo     It's impressive how hard Utsuho is able to pull back against the grab. Miyamomo's feet slide along the dry earth as she keeps hold, letting the hell raven drag her before finding the perfect moment to flip her over. "Huhm... those bursts of flames are going to prove difficult if I attempt to grab her. Either she can escape, or simply scorch me."

Utsuho takes to the air, and Miyamomo doesn't stop her. The last thing she wants to do is fight in the bird's true domain. But when she about-turns and plummets into the ground, that surprises her. "She can burrow also?! What on earth is sh-" Not burrow. Simply dig to blast from an unexpected angle. The earth cooks and explodes as Utsuho bursts from it. The fox woman leaps back, doing all she can to avoid the flung rock, but some she is forced to smack aside, her arms cooking from the heat. Violet smoke erupts from the burns.

"Yes, yes! How clever, turning your destructive power upon the ground itself!" She's laughing in spite of the injury she's taken. "But can your sun eliminate my Mist? Or will its light only refract, trapped forever within its banks?" She blurs again, leaping at Utsuho, aiming to clamp her head and neck between Miyamomo's thighs. By putting her full weight upon the bird, she aims to make her fall, or apply a boost to stay airborne.

    It's the latter she wants.

She twists her body with explosive force, spinning herself and Utsuho, aiming to make her fly out of control as she spirals. Aiming to make her crash into the ground head-first.
Hellwarming Trio Spectator!Utsuho raises an eyebrow as the battle continues, whistling lightly at the explosion from the ground beneath Miyamomo. She certainly seems to approve of the maneuver, not even minding the tiny rocks pelting her in the face shortly afterwards.

"That's more like it! Heh... Yeah, flashy. That's how you make sure everyone knows you're a badass." She smirks at Bercilak, then outright laughs again at Hibiki's comment on limits. "Psh, who needs to avoid things? I mean, sure, that's important in a danmaku battle, but being able to just burn everything that comes too close usually works fine!"

"As if. You still got beat up pretty good that last time." Rin finally speaks up, chiding Spectator!Utsuho with her own shit-eating grin as she finally seems to have recovered from that mental damage. She lets out a cheer for the fighters, more excited by the fight itself and actually paying close attention to what they're doing. "With that many tails, of course she'd have strong legs for that kinda move..."

She's still pretty easy to distract, though, if her turn to Bercilak is any indication. "Wait, why's it nameless? Aren't styles supposed to have names?"
Utsuho Reiuji "My sun can burn anything!" Utsuho pays no mind to the spectators - she's showing off for, primarily, an audience of one. Everyone else is just a bonus. "Just try to stand up to - ack!"

Utsuho expected to be shot, or possibly struck. Grappling is new. Nobody's ever really tried to grapple her before (aside from Miyamomo several moments ago), except for a giant monster who tried to eat her, and that's not quite the same thing. She finds herself clamped onto, and she flails for a moment, starting to accelerate forward.

Which is when Miyamomo gets what she wants. Twisting her body, Utsuho goes with it, her thruster-accelerated flight spinning wildly. Utusho sprays off energy shots in all directions, looking rather like a firework at a distance, but she can't figure out how to actually shoot Miyamomo with her clamped on her head like that, so most of them simply burst harmlessly, but impressively, in midair. A few splash into the ground instead, especially as Utsuho's pinwheel flight takes her dangerously close to it.

And eventually she hits, tumbling across the ground. That, at least, is sufficient to break Miyamomo's grip on her, though it does mean Utsuho rolls along the ground for some distance before finally coming to a stop, both dizzy from the spin and pained from the impact. "Ugh..." She might be sick.

But she's not, this time. Squeezing her eyes closed for a moment, Utsuho bounds to her feet, pushing off into the air as her wings spread; she hovers only a few feet above the slightly scorched earth. "If that's what you want, I'll show you what I can do. I'll burn everything up!"

The third eye in Utsuho's chest shifts slightly. The orb doesn't move, but the pupil slides slightly, as if watching Miyamomo while Utsuho herself points her control rod at Miyamomo, bracing it with her other hand. She squints while she does it, a bright sphere the color of the sun and a good two feet across forming in front of the rod as little prongs extend out of it -

At the last instant, Utsuho slews it slightly to the side, and when the compressed sphere erupts into a massive beam, wider than Utsuho is tall, the whole thing sweeps over a broader area as Utsuho attempts to compensate for Miyamomo's movements, the beam breaking up into a stream of six foot tall spheres that burn long furrows in the ground as they pass, smaller sparks of light breaking off and expanding the range of the blast. She's learning! Hopefully she's not too dizzy to aim straight.
Hibiki Tachibana     "A style doesn't need a name," Hibiki says after another gulp from her half-gone water bottle. "But I guess calling it 'nameless style' is sort of a name itself...?" Both Utsuhos sure have a straightforward way of thinking, which she respects. The only question is if Miyamomo's skill and her own power will be enough to trump it--and from the way the fox counterattacks with a leg grapple, the kind of which she's used to only seeing in movies, it looks like she's getting there!

    "Whoa, a drop...!?"

It's seriously dramatic, and Hibiki watches with wide eyes as the pair go spiraling through the air and finally come down hard. If she had a notebook, she'd be writing stuff down right now. And the hell raven takes it way better than she was expecting, with a rebound like that! The match is heating up...

Literally. She's leaning forward slightly, a glint in her eyes as she watches the power gather and then get released! "A beam--wait, it burst back into...!" It's not hard to tell how invested she is in 'big massive cool attacks', and just as much in how Miyamomo will counter it.
Miyamomo     Miyamomo dismounts just before impact, sliding along the ground as Utsuho makes impact. "She's sturdy enough to survive that impact last time. Hopefully the spin, plus the angle of approach, makes it rattle her head..." She watches as the three-eyed bird takes to the air, noticing as said third-eye begins to open. "Oh, what is that? Not an accessory then. Wha-"

The tiny sun blossoms and Miyamomo gasps. Stomping the ground, she kicks up a rock and kicks it, launching it upwards. Not to strike Utsuho, but to leap after it, both to avoid the beam and to approach. But the sudden sweap surprises her. It catches the rock and begins to melt it, but Miyamomo's toe finds the last scrap, and that's all she needs to leap again. She flies through the scattering spheres, burning up with a fierce grin as she soars towards her flying foe, closer and closer...

And then she seems to fly past, her leg extended in a kick. From the point of view of those below, it might look like she missed. Even Utsuho feels fine. And then the air about her blurs, like she's being choked by mist. A flurry of delayed kicks strike her from every angle, hissing lightly and cracking like whips with each impact!
Rubi-Kan Vagrants      Bercilak shrugs, nodding in agreement with Hibiki. He just sort of... does what makes the most sense, kinda. "Mine hath not. Doth *ani*-wight nede a name?" Maybe that's a little too philosophical for the context of a brawl.

His meaty palms collide in a fit of boisterous applause, the Green Knight uttering a hoot of approval as shots go wildly burning through the air. "God shit," he cries, as an eruption of disturbed earth shoots dramatically upwards following the violent impact of one such fiery shot. Miyamomo's style must pride itself on versatility, to have answers prepared and in action so quickly. He stands up from his seat and howls with delight when she leaps upwards along the rocks, hands plastered to the sides of his head. "Ille!"

There's a glance to his left shortly after. He's looking at Spectator!Utsuho. At her third eye. "Doth that, ah... cracche?" he says, pointing at it, and scratching his forearm with the other hand to illustrate his meaning. Does she ever need eye drops for that thing? "Wouldst it hert if hume oth flith wert to alend thither?"
Hellwarming Trio "If you're just using it, I guess not, but it's way cooler if it has a name!" Rin keeps jumping in place as she watches thatfight while still weighing in on the merits of naming a combat style. "Presentation's just as important as the moves being useful, ya know? Even Okuu's spell cards have names whether or not she does anything fancy with 'em. Otherwise it's just... Big fireball. Bigger fireball. Lame stuff like that, right?"

Spectator!Utsuho nods in agreement with Rin, letting out another whooping noise at the intense grappling maneuvers and ground-searing beams starting to come into play even more than before. "You got space to burn everything if you wanna! We can take it!" She cheers Utsuho on, clearly taking sides in this whole thing despite watching Miyamomo closely even to a casual observer.

"This thing? Uh... Yeah, sometimes. It wouldn't feel good if you hit it or whatever, but a little dust here and there isn't that bad." She turns to Bercilak, deliberately psuhing that third eye forward while it stares right at him unblinkingly. Ominously. Weirdly shinily. "It'd be pretty lame to have this and not be able to focus just because it gets dirty, you know? Or wet, or covered in ash, or shot..."
Utsuho Reiuji Utsuho's 'third eye' is always open - it doesn't seem to have a way to close, really - but it only started *looking around* just now. And it is. It's watching. Utsuho herself seems to pay it no mind, either because she's the one looking or just because she doesn't care. It's unclear.

Either way, Utsuho stares into the sun (metaphorically and physically) while she takes aim at Miyamomo. She has to stop firing after a few moments, either to clear her view enough to take aim again or simply to let herself recharge, but it leaves Miyamomo an opening.

Which she takes, but... "Ha, you missed!" Utsuho makes a wide sweeping gesture with both arms before the first of the delayed blows slams home. Again and again and again, crashing in around Utsuho and battering her around. She is pushed in a rough circle as the blows impact from every direction.

With a roar, Utsuho *explodes* into light and heat, glowing at the center of a sphere that shines, unsurprisingly, like the sun. "I said I'd burn your mist away, and I mean it!"" Slightly frustrated, perhaps, Utsuho drops to the ground and braces for a split second before *rocketing* directly toward Miyamoto, afterburners blazing, rushing so fast that she's barely visible and still surrounded by that solar aura.

She reverses out several hundred yards and rockets back in, sweeping through where she thinks Miyamomo is again. And she does it again, a repeated battering with her own body shining like a sun before she finally comes to a halt, skidding as she finally comes to rest.
Miyamomo     Miyamomo flips as she descends, leaving Utsuho to be swarmed by her kick afterimages. Landing sprightly, she turns and is instantly blinded by the bright light about the raven. "The sun, yes. But not the warm bringer of light. Or at least, not only that. The punishing heat of the desert. The merciless drought." Trapped in her own thoughts, she examines her burns from leaping through the cluster of fire. "These burns are not alike those one would receive from a fire. They're... sickly? No... toxic. Like Ichigohime's wand."

As Utsuho blasts off, she catches Miyamomo off-guard. She can only barely dodge the bird-shaped missile as she flies by, clipping the fox's shoulder and sending her spinning. But the second fly-by she ducks under. The third she leaps over. And as the fourth flies at her, she stands her ground. Utsuho impacts, but she feels an arm slip around her throat as Miyamomo catches her under her arm.

And then the world flips 90 degrees.

Redirecting all this momentum is an incredible undertaking. Doing it without taking the impact yourself is even harder. It requires incredibly precise movement, but Miyamomo does it. She DDT's Utsuho like a wrestler, immediately turning all her momentum downward to drive her into the dirt once more.
Utsuho Reiuji The *good* news, such as it is, is that Utsuho's flames are not in and of themselves toxic. She tends to depend on fusion more than fission and the radioactivity is not a real danger. But they do feel a little different than flames; they're far more condensed than that.

Rocketing around makes it hard for Utsuho to do more than aim at Miyamomo. She can't entirely make out what the other woman is doing and settles for just flying straight at her, surrounded by that solar corona. Usually people just try to get out of the way, or shoot back, and she knows how to deal with those!

Getting grabbed - and thrown - right out of it is completely unheard of. Who wants to stick their hands in the sun? But Miyamomo does it, and the world spins around Utsuho; she doesn't really hit the ground so much as fly into it, burning a hole that ends up in a crater as she runs out of momentum and built-up heat. Her flame, for an instant, goes out. She is just there. She could be defeated, propping herself up with her control rod.

But she isn't. The eye in her chest begins to shine brilliantly, and a moment later, Miyamomo can see that Utsuho's entire body is shining white; she's obscured from everyone else by being down in the crater, but the bright light is visible, shining into the sky. With another roar, almost a kiai - this time it is effort more than anger - Utsuho *explodes* into a massive sphere that hurts to look at, vaporizing the ground around her and making the crater a near-perfect hemisphere with the upper surface melted.

A moment of that, and the energy explodes off the sphere in a series of staggered blasts, pulsing. Every time it happens, the ball of heat and light around Utsuho shrinks, until with the last pulse - some six or seven blasts later - she is unshielded again, her arms spread. "Lord Yatagarasu... he said he didn't like that at all! So I'll use this power to destroy the mist!"

...

"...did I overdo it?" she adds, more quietly. This was friendly, right? Well, it's fine. Probably.
Miyamomo     Miyamomo just lays there, by the hole that Utsuho bored for herself. She looks pretty wiped out, her robe scorched, her skin blistered. That violet haze rises from her more thickly as she recovers. "Such endless mettle... is this what it is to fight the Sun? Hahaha... I suppose I may yet be too early for such a thing."

The light erupts from the hole. Miyamomo rolls to the side and back to her feet, already feeling what's about to happen. The ground warms beneath her feet. She clenches her teeth in a grim smile and puts up her stance. "But I won't know until I try! The sun will have to consume me before I stop trying! The nameless style can best even the Sun, I know it!"

The flames expand, and begin to swallow the fox. But her hands move. Impossibly fast, leaving trails in the air. And the Sun itself parts. The massive dome of flames finds an impenetrable gap in Miyamomo, her hands parting the fusion and leaving her body whole. Even as her figners cook, she persists, until it shrinks away.

Utsuho stands there, thinking she had won. Why wouldn't she? She just cooked most of the plains. And yet suddenly, Miyamomo is before her. "The mist lingers, little raven." Her hands are beyond use, but her elbows remain. She swings with them, striking Utsuho in her vitals. A jab in the stomach, one to each temple with a quick sway from left to right, bringing them down on her shoulders, and then a rising knee to her jaw.
Utsuho Reiuji Under actual combat circumstances, Utsuho would be gloating about burning everything up right about now. That, or calling on more power to seal the deal.

Right now, instead, she is a little uncertain and feeling slightly guilty. Good battle or not, she's not really supposed to be killing people. But Yatagarasu *wants* to burn something, she can feel it in her heart. Her third eye is still glowing, too, though it's more the steady glow of flame than the white-hot light before an explosion.

And she burned Miyamomo's *hands*. "If you say I won we can stop," she says, because it seems perfectly reasonable to her - except what she actually says is "If you say - " because that's when she catches an elbow in the gut, below the third eye. It knocks the air out of her, and youkai that swallowed a god or not, Utsuho does breathe.

She lets out a wheezy sound as Miyamomo bludgeons her, and her actions are more instinctive than intended; she flails with her control rod, which makes an acceptable bludgeoning weapon - it seems pretty close to invulnerable, or at least it's far tougher than the body it's attached to is. Even with Utsuho being far tougher than a mortal, that's true.

Utsuho makes a solid attempt to jab the front end of the rod into Miyamomo's stomach and fire. She does not fire plasma or flame or the sun, though; she fires a blast of heated air, as much to launch her as anything else. "You can - still say - I won! It's fine! You can do that!"

Despite her brave words, Utsuho is on the verge of collapse. The glow in the third eye is pulsing like a slightly irregular heartbeat, and the blows to her head have made her a little loopy. Loopier. Whichever. She doesn't show many wounds beyond battering, but she's a youkai - that doesn't mean she's not been injured, only that she's good at not showing it.
Miyamomo     Miyamomo looks tired. On her last legs. When Utsuho jabs her in the stomach and knocks her back with the blast of compressed air, that should be the end of it. But she just stays standing, looking the hell raven in the eyes. They are not shrouded like mist. But they shine angrily, like the sun.

"You're asking me to give up? To decide, without knowing, if my nameless style can beat you?" She laughs, a slightly deranged cackle. "Absolutely not. You do not get to ask me to do your work for you. If you want to win, then WIN! BEAT ME, O SUN! BURN ME TO ASH! Then, and ONLY THEN, do you get to proclaim your victory! But until then, Miyamomo of the nameless style fights on!"

She blurs again. Grabbing Utsuho's arm again. But this time, she pushes instead of pulls. Gets her own legs behind Utsuho's so she trips as she staggers back. And then the elbow descends, aimed right at the raven's face to spike her into the ground.
Utsuho Reiuji "Fine!!"

Despite her snap response, Utsuho is still... uncertain. She has no problem with killing but doing it here and now feels... wrong. Yatagarasu tells her to burn *everything*, onlookers included, but she's not even sure what she should do for a moment. She knows she doesn't want to do *that*. She hesitates, just for an instant.

An instant's hesitation defeats her. Utsuho lurches backwards, but all that means is that she trips, dropping - and accelerated by an elbow to the face, which smashes her downward. The light in her chest glows, brightens. The eye looks directly on Miyamoto. It narrows, the pupil focusing on her. It saw her.

And then the light goes out as Utsuho waves one hand, forcing Yatagarasu down. For now. "'m done," she grunts out. "More later. Drink now."
Miyamomo     Miyamomo stands over Utsuho, hands poised to strike until she finally concedes. With a sigh of relief, of victory, she stands straight and stretches her back. Even as tired and as sore as she is, she's smiling.

"A drink sounds lovely. May I join you? I'll take the first round," she says, proffering a regenerated hand for Utsuho to take to stand up.
Utsuho Reiuji Utsuho recovers... well, she doesn't *recover*, precisely. She's still very sore and more than a little dazed. But she does manage to get her hand in Miyamomo's and pull herself up, and she's smiling when she does.

"Once Lord Yatagarasu's quiet," Utsuho says, as she rises. "Give a minute." Then she raises her voice and calls, "WHO ELSE WANTS A DRINK!" Pause. "Not you, Other Utsuho!" She's not paying for *her* drinks.
Hellwarming Trio Utsuho: "Looks like they're done."
Rin: "Whoa, really? Hey... Yeah, this place got wrecked!"

Rin peeks out from behind Spectator!Utsuho, having opted to us her slightly larger frame (and also transforming into a cat) for safety reasons up until the fight's been decided. Both she and the raven in front of her are both cheering by the time things have calmed down, and thek asha's already hopping down those stone seats to join Miyamomo and Utsuho further down.

"I wanna know what kinda drinks you've found out here. Me and you.. Uh." She looks over at Spectator!Utsuho briefly (who's sticking her tongue out in a very 'I didn't wanna go, anyway' manner while lounging on her side like a lazy lump), then turns back with a furrowed brow. "Other you? We haven't had a whole lotta drinks outside yet. Stuff keeps happening and wreckin' our meals. But yeah, I'm starvin'!"

Rin then turns to Miyamomo again. "You eat regular stuff, too, sis?"
Hibiki Tachibana     The final clash - going from all that nuclear-powered destruction and misty movements into a simple elbow drop to close things off - leaves Hibiki completely at a loss for words for several seconds. But when all is said and done and the cheering from Utsuho (Sidelines) and Rin ends, she's almost chuckling, looking down at the pair of combatants from their perch while a small smile.

"You guys are something else...and that was just a spar." Her comment is just loud enough to be heard down there, as she glances around at the exploded earth, beam scorching, and everything else. Instead of thinking it's excessive though, it's everything she was hoping for and more.

Instead of going straight down, she opts to stay seated where she is and give the Utsuho still up here a pat on the shoulder. She's good too. She's good.
