Chase      Mashin Chaser has some personal questions to ask, and the Special Investigation Unit Kamen Riders have answers. They're the kind of questions that could have realistically been asked on radio, but face to face lessens the chances of unwanted individuals muddying things up by butting in. He also simply does not like either of them, so he wants to be productive by attempting to defeat the Kamen Riders while asking. Hibiki may not like it, but she just doesn't understand.

His arrival is mostly uneventful, pulling up in his motorbike as he parks it neatly in the parking lot. Unfortunately, the politeness ends there, as Mashin Chaser turns his attention to a nearby cop car. Pressing the barrel of his Break Gunner into his hand, he waits a bit for his audio cue.

     BREAK

Switched to melee mode, the Grim Reaper slams the weapon into the side of the car, producing a small purple shockwave as the vehicle violently tumbles towards the DMV, stopping only when it loudly crashes against one of the metal bollards designed specifically to prevent these sorts of incidents.

"Come out, Kamen Riders. I want to talk."
Shinnosuke Tomari Out the door, there's a familiar sound of cars shifting and tires flying as Chase damages a cop car.

DRIVE! Type -- Speed!

Kamen Rider Drive appears out the door, Handle Sword in hand, and turns it to Chase. "You think this is okay? If you wanted to talk, just ask your questions! Because what you really want is a fight."

"And if I have to give you one to preserve the peace, I will!"
Go Shijima      The sound of groaning metal and shattering glass quickly reach Go Shijima. He's out of his chair before all four of its legs hit the ground. And when he reaches a window, his face darkens. Almost immediately, the Mach Driver is fastened around his waist, and the hard-light constructs that fabricate his armor momentarily white the window out with their light. When the inside is visible again, he's gone, only the sound of a performance bike's engine revving to clue in his location.

A white blur with two red streaks and a blue trail races out the front door fast enough to kick up clouds of dirt and debris as it passes. "That's right," cries Go as he uses a flying kick to stop himself. "Saying you want to talk, but acting like this... you don't even know what you're saying!"

Like that robot in Haiti... right? Right! I'm sure of it...
Chase "I do not like you. You do not like me. To think there was any other option for us to talk but on the battlefield is foolish. Especially since Mach is with you."

As the Kamen Riders come to attack him with sword and foot, Mashin Chaser slots in a viral core into the break gunner, producing a deep garbled voice.

     TUNE - CHASER SPIDER!

A silver shield attaches itself to his arm and the Break Gunner, which he uses to shield himself from the attacks as he quickly slots out and in two more viral cores into the weapon.

     TUNE - CHASER BAT!
     TUNE - CHASER COBRA!
     TRIPLE TUNE!

The shield unfurls and transforms into a horrendous amalgamation of weapons as Mashin Chaser now swings the weapon back against the Riders with inhuman strength, not only to get them off of him, but to send them flying back into the building.

"Now tell me. Why do you fight? Not as Kamen Riders. Not as a police officer. Not as a photographer. Not as humans. But as Shinnosuke Tomari and Go Shijima."
Shinnosuke Tomari Kamen Rider Drive is sent away from Mashin Chaser, even as he slashes into him, with that Triple Tune attack. He is not forced into the building, barely catching himself, as he readies his sword again.

Wait, is this a philosophical question? Is that why he's attacking them!?

Drive comes back with the sword, moving for a horizontal slash, as, despite himself, he answers the question anyways. "Why do I fight, as Shinnosuke Tomari? Because there are people out there who need help. There are people out there who need me. If I have the ability to fight...I can't hoard it for selfish reasons. I must defend the peace!"
Go Shijima Go is caught by the broad side of the shield, twisting in midair to avoid the snapping cobra. He has to bat it away to kep from getting lashed, using the wheel on his energy pistol to turn it aside. It leaves him little time for a proper landing, and he is forced to roll after hitting the ground awkwardly.

Angrily getting to his feet and preparing to charge Chase head on again, he is stopped before the onset of his sprint by the Grim Reaper's question. In the soft glow of his HUD, his face presents uncertainty for just a moment.

That question... I didn't expect it from him.

There's a grunt of frustration, as Go's attempt at reapproaching is waylaid by the whip portion of Chase's amalgam weapon. "As for me, there are people I have to protect!" He cries, reaching for one of those miniature bikes.

                          SIGNAL BIKE//Signal Change!
                                     SPLIT

The hubcap at his right side changes to a sign indicating a split ahead on a highway.

Go darts around the parking lot, blasting away, never staying in one spot for the same time or for very long. Blue bolts travel only a few feet from his blaster, before disappearing and emerging from difficult, unusual angles--beneath and behind Chase, just to the right of him--anything that will get past that shield.

"If I didn't, or couldn't... then anything that happened to them, I'd just have to accept. I lost my father and my best friend, because of you damn broken dolls!! I'm through accepting!"

Go mashes the button on his belt four times, power visibly collecting at the end of the Zenrin Shooter. The energy pistol blats a bolley of basebal-sized burning blue bolts, each splitting off to vanish and emerge from rapidly-appearing portals. Few become many, reducing greatly in size and increaseing in speed, swarming Mashin Chaser!
Chase      "Is that so?

Mashin Chaser reaches out with his free hand to grab the handle ken directly by the blade, the sound of metal scraping against metal filling the air as the weapon digs into his palm. It doesn't bother him, however, as he swiftly pulls on the weapon, dragging Drive along with it as he throws a punch with his weapon clad arm, aiming to slam the Kamen Rider directly in the face.

"You fight to defend the people just like me. But your definition for people is narrower than mine. I find that selfish. But I am not here to judge today. Now tell me, Shinnosuke, do you feel like you are succeeding?"

Walking forward, Mashin Chaser takes the Zenrin Shooter bullets head on. Distinctive orange sparks fly off his armor as they connect, but the Roidmude doesn't slow down, instead speeding up his walk until he's right next to Mach, grabbing them by the shoulder tire as they start lifting them off the ground.

"I do not know who your father or best friend is, and it is clear you will not accept any apology. However, you kill Heart's friends without hesitation. I do not think for one moment you ever wanted to understand."

He stares at Mach with his compound eyes for a bit longer, letting go of him before delivering a full blown gut punch with the scrap heap currently bolted onto his other arm.
Shinnosuke Tomari Drive is punched hard in the face, sending him flying backwards as sparks fly off his helmet. As Tomari skids back, he hears Mashin Chaser's question through his helmet. His answer should be clear. A defiant rage. "Your friends threaten the people of this world! Why should you robots-"

A memory flashes before his eyes. Like a photo in slow motion. Bass.EXE, trying to be their friend, forced against his will into a monster. Tomari and Eryl forced to execute him. Tomari defeated in the process. Wasn't he, too, basically a robot?

And then, the follow-up question. Is he succeeding? He may have saved Benjamin Horne...but he failed Jacques Renault, and he may fail the others. Bass.EXE. Jacques. Even...perhaps the Roidmude? No, that's foolish, isn't it.

Kamen Rider Drive turns the handle on the sword, getting a TURN out of it, before he swings once more. It has more power. Yet, he asks, as he swings...

"Why is it okay that Heart's friends want to hurt humans, if you want to defend the people? Do you grant them mercy, or justice!?"
Go Shijima      "Heart's friends are twisted beyond repair--" Go mashes the button on his belt four times, crackling blue energy popping from his armor as his strength is momentarily boosted. He's not stronger than Mashin Chaser--but if he can just apply the strength he has, in just the right place...

Mach pries Chase's grip loose with a jet-assisted rising knee, twisting backwards to flip away. Chase's fist strikes him squarely in the lower back, sending up a spray of sparks as he shakily lands.

SIGNAL BIKE//SHIFT CAR - Dead Heat!

A red bike is slotted into the Mach Driver, with a sidecar. It changes Mach's armor to resemble a hybrid of his own and Tomari's, with a solid red breastplate and a tire flying between them to align diagonally across his chest. The hubcap of that wheel on his shoulder shows an RPM counter in blue and red, and the faceplate has changed to look more like the grill of a car.

"Of course I wanted to understand! Just like you, coming here to ask questions like this--" He'll have to match force for force, at this rate. Go blitzes forward, leaping into the air to hammer into Chase with a flurry of jackhammering kicks from above, as the counter on his shoulder slowly inches towards red...

When he lands, Go continues the assault with an elbow strike aimed at Chase's chest. "But every single one I find is obsessed with some human emotion, to the point that they can't be trusted around humans! How many Roidmudes have you reset, Grim Reaper?!"
Chase      "It is not 'okay'. That is why the Roidmude need a Grim Reaper. I offer them second chances, Shinnosuke Tomari. Humans jail their own criminals in the name of their justice, what I do is no different."

Mashin Chaser takes the sword slash from Drive directly against the back, unflinching even as sparks fly and armor plates threaten to fly off from the impact. Unable to turn around, they deliver a brutal elbow into Drive's rib cage. It's the kind of elbowing designed to aggressively break bone, rather than a friendly 'knock it off'. Though that's probably a given.

Meanwhile, Mach switches into Dead Heat and begins hammering into the chest of Mashin Chaser, eliciting a pained grunt from the Grim Reaper as he's too slow to stop it. The pain is mostly emotional though. He really can't recall just how many of his kind he has had to reset.

     However.

Mashin Chaser raises his weaponized arm to shield the final blow, a shockwave of purple spreading out from them as everything in the surrounding area comes to a complete halt. It's now eerily silent, save for the voice of the Roidmude, who still seems to be moving just fine.

"And yet I do not have emotions, and you try to kill me. I do not understand you, Shijima Go."

Now position themselves behind Mach, they deliver a powerful roundhouse kick to their backside, unfreezing the area as they do so to allow them to hurdle towards Drive like a human projectile.
Shinnosuke Tomari The elbow knocks Drive back again, sparking more. Chase's words normally wouldn't have resounded with him. But for once, they sting. Like a jail...second chances. The things he gives humans, and even Orphenochs, but never Roidmudes. Mr. Belt told him he had to destroy them. Go agreed.

But something has been bothering Tomari, ever since Bass.EXE. Was he, perhaps, wrong? Was he not giving them the chance they deserve?

He can't decide that right now. But Mashin Chaser has them on the backfoot. So, almost uncharacteristically, Drive mutters something, in hearing range. "Perhaps I am selfish...perhaps I haven't succeeded in what I want to do...even so..."

No, he can't finish that. He doesn't have an argument right now. Instead, he starts moving, calling out to Kamen Rider Mach. "We need to go! We've answered his questions! We're done fighting!"

Whether Go joins him or not doesn't matter. Tomari can't handle this right now. He can't fight Chase right now. His head is too foggy.

What is he fighting for?
Go Shijima      Time freezes.

Just like jail... That's the problem, isn't it? Since we met that Nira... I'm wondering if -either- way works. But to say you don't understand why I'm doing this...

When Chase circles around, Go's frustration boils over, and he bellows with anger as he forces his fist the glacial few inches necessary to mash the ignition on his Driver. "HOW COULD YOU NOT?!"

A shockwave of red energy explodes from him, crimson lightning dancing across the periphery of it. He keeps mashing. The yellow line of that RPM creeps gradually closer to red until it crosses the threshold, at which point the tire on his chest explodes.

Go whirls around in a blur, so quickly that Chase's kick misses his abdomen by inches. Capitalizing on his momentum, he extends his palm to make a rigid strike at the Grim Reaper's neck, howling in anger. "You've reset how many, and still, STILL they hurt, terrorize and kill innocent people?!" His arm whips back around, hand balled into a fist, and flies straight for Chase's chest like a hammer. It's the first in a rapid, furious flurry of punches.

Of course I'm not leaving! Not when I can end it here... this awful chain of suffering!

An acrobatic tumble to make a low leg sweep, momentum carrying him into a dizzying overhead diagonal kick. "Everyone who's ever been hurt by Heart's twisted friends... your actions allow it to continue, Mashin Chaser!"
Chase      Not needing to breathe, the strike to the Roidmude's chest doesn't seem to do the thing it was probably intended to do. It does, however, catch them off guard, so it might as well have worked.

"You cannot take back a life, Shijima Go. There are less than 100 Roidmudes left."

Again, Mach pounds into Mashin Chaser's chest, creating a huge array of sparks as the black and purple metal pushes in and contorts. Unable to do anything at the moment, they roll with the hits, while continuing to talk.

"You do not get to choose who lives and dies. No one does. Their crimes may be unforgivable, but I will stop them as many times as needed until they learn. This is not just my job, but what I believe. I protect people, not just Roidmudes."

The attempt to legsweep Mashin Chaser is interrupted as they suddenly step over it, shoving the Rider away with a push as a purple wave of gravity freezes the area once more. "You, on the other hand, only wish to destroy. You do not deserve to protect anyone with that mindset, much less be a Kamen Rider. I found my answer from both of you."

With time slowed to less than a crawl, the Grim Reaper pushes the barrel of the gunbreaker against his hand, holding it there until the weapon creates a confirmation noise.

     EXECUTION

Leveling the weird misshapen weapon at Mach, he pulls the trigger, releasing a large continuous beam at them that sends them skidding back from the recoil.

     FULL BREAK - TRIPLE TUNE

By the time Go's had a chance to deal with the attack however, Mashin Chaser is already retreating with a pair of silver bat wings. At the very least though, gravity is back to normal so he can more properly deal with the hissatsu that was just thrown his way.
Go Shijima      Mach is shoved backwards mid-kick, stumbling over--then time crawls. His hand moves for the Mach Driver, but hesitates.

That conviction... He almost sounds like...

"Gh!" Sparks fly from the Dead Heat armor, Go lifts off his feet and is slammed into the side of the building, hard enough for a crack to spiderweb up the wall.

                                    Good Work!

Vision is blurry. Ears are ringing.

Get up! Don't let him get away...

Go slams the bike back into the chamber on the Mach Driver... but no one's there, when the smoke clears, and he's standing again. Chest heaving with exertion, his hands and neck singed from the suit's feedback, he beats his fist into the wall.

I don't know what's worse. That he got away... or that, for a moment, I felt like I really heard him. Maybe I don't deserve to be a Kamen Rider.
