Xion Moved into low security wing and with the guards pre-warned that someone could come at any time to break Adachi out. It wasn't the first day --

but it was the second.

In a general-use cell, stone and a steel-frame cot with a thin matress with matte metal bars.

Then, the lights flickered, in that way they do oddly, when you can't tell if it's a blink or the wiring or a shadow passing over the sky.

The second dark-flicker hangs and the moment extends. Past the bars, the darkness is ink-wet, pooling and sloshing around the island the gate makes, dribbling around the workings and dripping from the wall slowly.

His cell is the only light at all.

And then a black-gloved hand grips the inner set of bar, fist dripping thick dollops of smoke, and pushes the gate open.

Xion steps in after, black coat open and a grey sunset-themed t-shirt and ankle-length black action pants on. The pants are extra buckle-ular, and end in boots. "Hey, I thought they were going to, uh, show up or something? To stop me?" Xion offers, then follows with a shake of her head. "But they didn't. I had thought Tomari Shinnouske would show up, especially... But I guess I'm giving him a show."

Extending a hand, she holds it out to Adachi, in the cell. "I felt really bad about Lilian kicking you like that. You wanna get nachos?"

Leading him through the curtain of ink-dark spits out at...

RITA'S TACO

It's got a plastic table and chairs with a big sun-umbrella next to the shop's wide window, and if you get fifty stamps you get a shirt or something.

Xion walks up to the window and starts ordering a taco with sour cream, a taco with the 'death hot' hot sauce with extra peppers, and two sets of nachos with 'all the stuff'.

She then gives a weird handshake to the scene kid-looking vampire-in-broad-daylight looking dude working behind the counter.

"You wanna just go in on the nachos, or do you want something?" She offers, pointing at the menu.

It's... a taco stand menu.
Tohru Adachi      Adachi lays down in his Paladin appointed cot in his Paladin appointed jail cell, legs crossed and arms laying by his side as he just stares at the ceiling.

He's still in his usual tie and suit combo. Not like it was going to cause any problems, unlike his model pistol that is definitely confiscated. That's fine though, it's trivial to always make another.

When Xion finally arrives, he sits up, an exaggerated look of surprise on his face. It quickly disappears though, replaced with his usual goofy smile.

"Wouldn't be surprised if they really wanted me gone. After the stuff I said to Tomari and that X guy, I don't think they want me around anymore. Can't say I blame them."

The ex-detective pushes himself up off the bed and stands, lacing his fingers together before raising his arms up high to stretch.

"Anyway. Don't worry about it, I'm used to people like her. She needed an excuse to be mad, and I gave it to her. If it wasn't me, it'd be someone else. Actually, I bet five dollars she found someone else. She'd fit right in with the cops in Japan, really."

He finally brings his arms down, he makes his way towards Xion, grabbing on to her hand... Well, wrist.

Spit out through the other side, Adachi is slightly annoyed to see he's been brought to a food stand. Not much that he can do though, he'll just have to deal with it.

"Nachos are fine I guess. I'm not much of an eater, as you can clearly see. So anyway, I made a promise... Haha, I actually can't remember it exactly though, probably because of the kick to the head. Anyway, just ask me whatever, after the fifty million questions I got, what's another fifty million more?"
Xion "Okay." Xion nods, turning around to look at Tohru, leaning backwards on the counter and bracing her elbows up on the red counter next to the bright silver bell.

The scene-vampire starts helping the cook set up tacos. Fresh chips are basketed and toppings are drizzled to the still-sizzling-hot triangles of gold.

"Okay. Number one of fifty million: When you left, and after she kicked you, not before, you told me when I came to get you you'd tell me 'something good'. So I'd like to hear that, could you tell me?"

Xion smiles thinly.
Tohru Adachi      " Did I? Haha, right. Guess I did. Well..."

Adachi awkwardly laughs as his smile is replaced with a frown, now visibly distressed as he begins looking around. The lack of TVs made him instantly realize why she chose an outdoor taco stand. Damn, she's definitely smart. Or perhaps it's just a coincidence and she didn't actually think he would try to bail.

Unable to think of anything, they just let out a long and exasperated 'sheesh', grimacing a bit before he starts speaking.

"I uh, actually have 'friends' you know. They're idiots for wanting to be, but I really can't say they aren't. Tomari actually picked up on it before you did, actually. Kinda sad, you're starting to slack. Aaaaanyway, I'd have been content to rot in jail the first time. It's where losers like me deserve to be after all, but ya know. You see the shit they put on TV, you see what's on the news. You realize just how shitty the system is, and you want to change it."

There's a pause, before he suddenly adds on more

"Well no... It's a bit more complicated than just seeing that, but just lets say, I couldn't honestly give less of a shit about how the world turns out. I'm just trying to have a good time. But still, those two idiots wormed their way into my heads, so it makes me feel better to say things like knocking down a rotten society would help prevent people like me from popping up. That track?"
Xion Xion waits for a while. Her order comes up, the tacos and the nacos in a heaped stack of plates she maneuvers without any effort. Striding to the table she puts all the food down, kicks out a chair for Adachi, and kicks out a chair for herself. Settling while her jacket helpfully flares itself, she starts with the Death Hot taco while Adachi talks, and then bounces her heel while making a soft pain noise, then immediately follows it with a the sour cream taco.

Producing a CAN SODA out of her inventory, she cracks the top with a 'chh-pop!' of fizz and immediate slurping.

'That track?'

"Adachi. At the start of the fight with you... I dropped a TV. You didn't take it at the time. You fought us. You helped everyone confront you, and you struck their hearts like a pool cue strikes the white ball. I get it. Proving to people that society doesn't work, proving to people that their justice isn't absolute, proving to people... things about the darkness of the world. I think there are ways to do that, *powers* to do that. Things you can do."

"You have friends without that wince in your voice too. People who would fight for you. With you. Do you think we can put this all on time served, Adachi? I like some of those things you said."

Xion smiles. "Nacho?"
Tohru Adachi      "Eh. You're giving me a lot more credit than you probably should with what I'm trying to do, Xion. But..."

Adachi pauses and thinks. He's already acknowledged internally that friendship and bonds make people strong. So why is he denying himself it? Well, he knows why. He's never tried in his life to have friends. Never had the time. His grades were more important, and his parents would have killed him if he slipped up once...

And what did those good grades get him? A job out in the boonies because he wasn't born lucky. Because he was conditioned by society to think that having friends holds you back... Is he really going to do the opposite of what he's been doing completely out of self realization and spite? Yes, definitely. It's comedic to him, if anything.

"Tch. Alright, you know what? Screw it. Might as well try.  A few things, actually, but mostly the teamwork thing."

His goofy smile returning, Adachi takes a nacho, and /eats/ it.
Xion "I'm really not. Tohru, I'm..."

Xion tugs at her glove with her thumb, and peels it off, then places her hand on her chest, smiling. "What's in me isn't something many people would understand. I woke up with a sword in my hand, and don't mind swinging it. I've borrowed the memories of an unconquerable light, but I've used it to help me have context for my heart of darkness. It's fine, you know? All of me, all the parts of me that are me and not gone, all decided they wanted to live more than anything. And from a little light, I could put alllll of my darkness around, and there was a whole complete me. I *felt* them. Feelings. Real things. Love."

A smile that doesn't quite hit her mouth due to her somber entreatment lifts her eyes, brightening her expression.

"I understood hate, but to feel it... to feel love, it's something amazing. All these emotions are incredible. I think you wanted to be... Punished, to be struck. To be hurt, because you want to change things so badly that the chains they wrapped around you since you were a child chafed badly, and twisted you as you grew into a defiant tree. The ugly shape of something not allowed to grow on its own. You don't know what's right, the learned impulse to be punished for harming society, and the nature within you, the screaming that pours forth from your heart at the state of society. I hear that. The things you *want*. You want it to be different, be better. And, um... you live in Japan? I hear it's really bad there. Here."

She makes a quiet 'tink!' sound with her mouth in approximation of her sword, but no blade springs forth. Instead, she just daps him in the chest with her extended fingers. "I release you from those chains. It may take a while for you to feel out what 'right' is, but that's okay. Society *does* suck. You *do* have power. You *should* try to change it."

She finally smiles for real, moving to grab a chip herself, lifting off strings of cheese and salsa and balancing a jalapeno slice perilously, leaning in brazenly to chomp.

"But you don't need to be punished. It shouldn't be punitive. If they want to stop you, they can try. Stop being a cop to your own heart."
Tohru Adachi      "Stop being a cop to my own heart, huh? You just gotta start saying 'you and I aren't so different' and you'll sound just like him, ya know that?"

Adachi lets out a chuckle, before his face twists into a complex expression. It doesn't last long however, and he's back to normal. He takes another nacho, this time simply holding on to it.

" Anyway, you're surprisingly perceptive and insightful when you aren't pushing my shit in, but I gotta correct something. I didn't want to get punished. I mean, maybe subconsciously I wanted to be punished, but at the moment, it just seemed like a fun way to pass the time. Getting a bunch of people to try and kick my ass. Like a mini Reaper game, just with less stakes, and better fashion sense."

Adachi lets out a full blown laugh this time. It's normal, rather than his usual deranged ones. Unfortunately, during his laughter, he loses his grip on the nacho he's holding, and ends up dropping it. He doesn't seem to care though.
Xion "Oh, yeah. I'm like that all the time, you just needed the hard words and the strong hnads, you know?" Xion shrugs. "I like being friends more. A 'fun way to pass the time'..."

Xion squints at Adachi, frowning, and then her face clears up.

"Well, if you're just starting problems for things to do: try to keep it out of the Watch? I think you'll actually like it better, and find friends, if you let yourself actually change society, rather than the stage play stuff."

Xion nods, lifting a chip-island up. "I think you can do good, and also, maybe beating up Kamen Rider as a treat."
Tohru Adachi      Adachi nods.

" Well, no promises on keeping my funny pranks outside of the Watch, but I'll try. Anyway Kamen Rider are those masked guys, right? Well, I dunno about them, but that reminds me there's an old show I need to rewatch. Got some ideas while chilling in jail. Don't tell anyone though, it's a secret~"

The disgraced cop brings a finger to his lips for emphasis, before looking up.

"You know, it's getting kinda late. We should call it quits for now. Gotta make sure to pay rent before I get evicted. Alternatively, just take what I need a bail, haven't decided yet. Don't worry though, I'm not going anywhere. You're stuck with me forever now!"
Xion Xion shrugs, and lifts the plate of nachos. As she does, a CRT monitor, and a Wii with a few Gamecube controllers, snaps into frame past her hands, like her motion was some scene transition trick--

But it's live real life. She can't just... do that, can she?

"You always could have left, Adachi. I broke you out. You were the one who stayed for nachos."

Xion grins, playful. "Your brain and your heart don't speak to each other much. Try it out. Get them lined up, and you'll be happier *and* more powerful."
