Chains Knight A man is standing on a bridge in Legume City!

One crazy person holding up traffic is not really news. When that person is wearing chain armor and has so far wrecked seven cars trying to get past him, *that* is a bit more noteworthy.

The implausibly strong length of steel chain lashes out, precisely destroying another car's engine without harming the driver - but only *just* missing harming the driver. "No one shall pass," he bellows, as he winds up the chain in his hands again. "Until a hero appears to defeat me!"

This is the main bridge in and out of Legume City. Chains Knight holding it up like this is a problem, for... whatever reason it is he's doing it.
Gaonoir And you thought your daily commute sucked during rush hour.

Fortunately not everyone needs roads to get around. Made responding to this sort of occurance a lot easier as well, because being able to fly makes everything easier like that. That's how you get the bionic wolf-man rising up along one side of the bridge, courtesy of the dual engines affixed to his back like a jetpack, arms folded across his broad chest while eyes narrow at the obstructing knight from behind his reflective flight visor. "I know it sucks when you don't have correct change for toll but lashing out about it isn't going to help anyone."

Not that Gaonoir really cares about the traffic, he just smells the beginning of a big fight brewing.
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa contacted the local government offering to help with this road block. Kotone would request that they do their best to keep people away from the fight that was about to happen. It was not long before her ship was flying overhead and she beamed down from the Bluenose in a pillar of light. Kotone rapidly takes shape as the pillar of light vanishes. Kotone's in some sort of form-fitting suit with armour plating here and there and she's also carrying some sort of SMG at least it looks like an SMG, she also has a few drones hovering near her.

This is mostly a stall to let people get away from this. If there is a chance to talk this knight down? This is the window for it.

"So why won't you move until a hero fights you?"
Sleek Shimmer     Sleek Shimmer heard the declaration and call for a hero.

And so, having figured out how to navigate a bit better, she actually arrives in a decent amount of time. However... it's unlikely anyone will notice, if their attention is on Chains Knight.

Because she does not emerge and declare herself a hero. Instead she has trotted out onto the bridge in fox form, making her way up a suspender cable's curved incline towards the top of a tower. She'll stop wherever she gets the best view of what's happening down below, seemingly unbothered by the wind and with impeccable balance, once she finds a spot, she lays down on her belly and gazes down upon the confrontation, her sharp ears easily enough to hear most of the details.
Staren     A second pillar of light beams down from the Bluenose. Staren's just wearing her usual, too annoyed to care for once about looking good. And she looks pissed. "Do you understand WHY heroes always show up when someone does something like this?!" She points at him. It's not because you're a challenging knight and they're looking for a fight. It's because you're hurting people. You don't know where those people were driving."

She points at one of the fallen cars. "Maybe one is on his way to meet the love of his life, and this is going to make it look like he stood her up, and be the start of a chain of events that destroys true love!"

She points at another. "Maybe that one was a plucky young woman who moved here with the clothes on her back and a car in search of a dream, and now she's late to her first day on the job and has no way to get there."

She points to another. "Maybe that one is a support worker for a heroic organization carrying files that will lead to breaking up a slaver ring IF THEY REACH THE DESTINATION IN TIME."

Another. "Maybe that one is a surgeon on the way to the hospital, who will be able to save... one less person today? Two? More? Because SOMEONE had to do this NONSENSE!"

"Maybe they're all rich people, doing nothing important, who will only be minorly inconvenienced by having to replace their cars. But YOU DIDN'T CHECK, did you?!"

"Normally, I'd just set up way the hell over there, blow you up with missiles and sniper shots, and then rush over here and fix the bridge. But today, you get what you want, because I'm gonna try 'talking with my fists', for once, and see if it works!"

She drinks a potion, and those who can sense magic use can tell she's activating enchantments built into her gear.
Chains Knight "I will not move until a hero appears and fights me, because I have decided that this bridge is blocked by an event flag that shall not be cleared until a hero appears and fights me!" declares Chains Knight, spoken with the absolute certainty that not only does this logic make sense, but that his is a most reasonable course of action.

"And I am causing plenty of change, I assure you!" says Chains, to Gaonoir, purposefully misunderstanding him. Also this isn't a toll bridge.

And then to Staren, to each of her hypotheticals...

"Not a hero."

"Also not a hero."

"Also not a hero."

"Also not heroes."

And then he points at her. "Also not a hero."

He shakes the coiled up chain in his hand, and then slams it at the ground, causing a loud noise to make sure everyone's paying attention to him (which is redundant, as presumably they already are). "And if you are not heroes..."

He gathers the chain back together in one hand, and then draws forth a large amount of slack in it with his other.

"Then begone!"

He pulls the chain back and whips it horizontally, across the bridge - the length extending implausibly mid-swing to reach each of his opponents!
Gaonoir At the response Chains gives Gaonoir... actually smirks a bit, fangs showing out of the corners of his mouth. "Never claimed I was a hero." The disjointed logic and application of gaming mechanics where they really don't exist doesn't bother him much, the Digimon multiverse is full of much stranger examples. "But if it's a fight you're looking for..."

He uncrosses his arms and clenches his hands into fists. As he does what looks like render lines and pixelation effects flicker around them, as Dark Digitron is drawn from his code to form into oversized mechanical gauntlets around his fists.

One which he holds up at an angle to partially cover his stance in defense. The shriek of metal(?) upon metal(?) is heard and sparks fly as the chain swing scrapes across the back of the gauntlet. "Huh. Not bad. Not bad at all. Got some range on that thing."

Violet plumes erupt from the jets as he switches from hover to rocket boost in an instant, sending the canid hurtling towards Chains Knight. The burst of speed allows him to swing the arm he was holding back in the previous stance with additional force! "But I prefer it up close and personal!"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa looks at Chains Knight or a moment, there come the whips. Once that might have outright shattered her bones. Those bones are long gone, however. She's not able to dodge them there's just too fast even for her. The damage is notable but it could be worse. She's going to check her fire as she raises her weapon and spring across the bridge trying to keep herself on the move. Also to keep her weapon pointed away from the people who might still be there.

She lets off several controlled bursts as she flits around.
Staren     Staren holds out a hand imperiously and a globe of translucent amber force appears around her, the chain smacking into it, covering it in cracks and making her stumble back before disappearing again.

"That's right. I'm no Hero. A Hero would probably be all" and she changes form, and for a moment, the over-half-foot-taller catboy puts his fists against his hips, sounding like he's Doing A Voice, "Fear not, Citizens! A hero is here to save the day! Foul knight, you will trouble these people no more, because I'm awesome and good at swords and win at whatever I try to do and always get what I want but all I think about is the fight and not the mess left behind afterwards or if the villain was trying to make the world better!"

He scowls, and then changes back, and points at Chains again. "I'm no hero, and I'm not as Real as Persephone or Lilian or the Gevurah or the Archwolf or the First or a thousand unstoppable others for whom my struggles are goddamn child's play and STILL they face so much more!"

"But I'm enough to handle YOU." She draws the rocket launcher from her back to her shoulder, extending the tube and removing the caps with a practiced motion before firing, this one a homing rocket with a shaped charge that makes sure to airburst with the resulting lance of HIGH ENERGY PHYSICS aimed horizontally so it won't cut through the bridge.

"It used to weigh on me EVERY DAY. That I should be doing more."

She tosses the tube to the side and draws her pistol, pulling the trigger a dozen times in rapid succession as she begins circle-strafing, her shoes acting like hoverskates.

"Any time I rest, or have fun, or visit friends, how many people are out in the Multiverse still suffering, unsaved? Because a hero spent a few less minutes, a few less hours, working to save them?"

She holds out her arm, and then a panel opens in one of her vambraces to reveal the barrel of an energy weapon, firing a bit of energy that expands into a nearly her-size fireball of plasma headed for Chains Knight. And then she half-spins to fire another from the other vambrace. "I couldn't do it. I'm too weak to be out there saving people every waking moment,"

She ejected the pistol's powercell during all that, and now loads a new one. "...and I've been struggling for the past several months to accept that." She holds out her arm dramatically. "To accept myself."

"BUT YOU!" A wave of mini-missiles warp in, appearing behind Staren's head and shoulders in an arc sweeping from one side to the other, ripple-firing just after they appear, some going for Chains Knight and others looping around to come in from angles. All shaped charges, she doesn't want to melt or explode the bridge!

"YOU, instead of being worried about that, or even just trying to live your life... you're going out and making things WORSE for people, without a care in the world! It doesn't matter how many are hurt because of your actions! I fuck up all the time, but at least I'm TRYING!"
Chains Knight Chains gathers the chain back up, and is ready to swing it again, when Gaonoir comes barreling in. He attempts to block - and gets driven back a few feet on the bridge from the impact, and blasted several times by Kotone coming in right after.

And Staren brings in the heavy artillery. Chains books it, running, trying and failing to stay ahead of the barrage, it coming in from all angles...

... "There," he says, when he has a moment.

"There!"

"That. Is a HERO SPEECH."

He points up at Staren. "Why didn't you lead with that!"

The chain is reattached to its belt holster - and instead he pulls forth a deck of cards. "NOW, we can fight properly!"

And then he enacts an arcane ritual, with intricate rules and dynamic invocations and steps based on the random order in which his ritual implements are presented to him by the forces of fate. It's an arcane ritual which only *looks* like he's playing a children's card game.

"I draw seven, no mulligan, and start by playing Stalward Defenders on my rear line, and discard two cards to play Javeliners of the Long Patrol!"

He throws out a pair of cards - and there's a set of tower shield bearing knights surrounding himself, and further up the bridge a line of lightly-armored warriors which have very sharp looking throwing spears.

Immediately, sharp things start flying through the air.
Gaonoir Gaonoir draws back after the contact, metal feet hitting the road pavement as his boosters stop firing. This isn't an opponent he needs to stay airborne right now, so no need to burn them out. "Not the chatty type."

Chains Knight... proves to have a peculiar way of fighting, as he switches to cards. But the cards aren't an attack, they... summon defenders? And attackers? Like a small militia on call. Good thing Erika isn't here right now, she'd probably start nerding about it being like someone made a trading card game realistic.

This time Gaonoir puts more of an actual defense up, holding both guantlets together to shield his face and upper body. A few spears clink off them, while others jab into his shoulders and upper arms. There's no visible blood, because Digimon don't have anything to begin with, but an inky darkness is visible beneath where his external texture is damaged by the blows. "Besides."

Then those mechanical legs push him into motion, undaunted by the big shield bearers that have appeared to defend Chains. "Actions speak louder than words!" His visor gleams and the Digimon charges forward. "Gaoga Tornado!" Punches fly in a ferocious fury too fast to make out individual strikes as he pistons his gauntlet clad fists into those shield bearers again and again much like the violent torrent of a tornado in an effort to smash through them and into the knight behind them.
Staren     Staren balls her hands into fists at those words, knuckles white, glaring eyes starting to water. "Heroes don't talk like that. I'll never understand them. I-I'll never be one. Are you MOCKING me?!"

She does, at least, not seem to consider apparently playing a Children's Card Game in the middle of a battle to be a slight at all. It's just how he fights, after all.

Then again, she does hmph, "'Properly.'" as the knights appear. She charges at him and his shielding knights, trying to dodge spears but a number catching her, making her stumble in her charge as they pierce some kind of armor-like forcefield around her body and scratch her coat.

During the charge she's repeatedly firing much smaller comet-shaped energy projectiles from her vambraces, which disperse into extremely high-temperature flames on impact, as well as her laser. As she gets close, she holsters the laser and draws forth her swords, trying to cut through the knights to reach Chains.

"By 'properly' you'd better mean with every advantage you have, to enforce your vision of the world where others' lives don't matter because you wanted to play a GAME with their reality!"

The short vibro-swords look too thin, and by the way she's swinging them far too light, to do much to armor, but when activated they're charged with high-frequency energy which projects a field of cutting, shredding force around the edges.

"Because if I get through these knights I'm gonna SHOW you just how close to death I can bring someone back from!"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa hears Staren go off in a speech, she used to make such things once but not anymore. She'll have to think about that.

"I just hate seeing people throw their weight around like this pointless that's how I ended up as I am!" Kotone keeps moving but it does not go so well, she's getting pretty pummeled here, as cards are drawn wait what? She stares for a moment and that second of confusion? Gets her caught in the hail of spears one catches her and wedges itself in her body. She's forced to pull it free and isn't looking very happy. There's no blood it seems the hit while damaging missed any of her fluid systems.

"...Now there's something I haven't seen before."

She shifts tactics now, she'll pull a grenade from somewhere and lobs it at the spearmen.
Chains Knight Gaonoir rushes in, punches flying.

"In response to your Gaoga Tornado with my Notable Blacksmith," says Chains, throwing out another card.

The knights get driven back, but midway through the assault they look significantly more sturdy, and push back against Gaonoir with shield bashes.

"Tell me, Staren, have you ever heard of the trolley problem?" calls Chains, as Staren tears into the knights on his other flank. "And, hmm."

He swaps games briefly, pulling out a deck of bicycle cards and laying them out, along with a stack of chips, and rapidly playing a game that looks kind of like solitaire.

"And - there, cleared out the four jacks," he declares, holding them up so Staren can see - and a moment later sniper fire rings out, coming at Staren from... somewhere up in the sky. It's not clear where it originated from. Supporting fire just sort of happens.

The spearmen scatter as the grenade goes off, several disappearing into wherever they came from. Chains is undaunted, though. "And - all the threes, all the fives too," he says, clearing those from the board and putting them in a neat pile, which causes a barrage of pistol shots and then a shotgun blast to go off towards Kotone from... also somewhere at a high angle. It all just sort of happens.
Gaonoir When the shieldbearers reinforce and start pushing back, Gaonoir stops rapid punching. Instead he opens his hands and plants palms down, one against each shield, to push back. Heels dig into the ground, tearing into the pavement as they're still managing to, slowly, force the digimon backwards. The city public services is going to have a hell of a time repairing the bridge and road.

Not that it is Gaonoir's problem to worry about.

Okay, this is getting nowhere, and after a bit of straining against the shields Gaonoir withdraws for the moment, igniting his boosters as he leans back to reverse jump away from the shieldbearers. He could say something snarky. But this seems to be the way this fellow battles, so he will at least respect it in that regard. There is a ripple of darkness around him, though, and rocket jets roar to life to launch him into the fray once more. The cascade of shadowy energy wraps down around his gauntlets. Which show their true mechanical nature in the fact that they start to spin. Loud and furiously, dark energy spiraling around them as he comes crashing down upon the shieldbearers once more!
Staren     At the mention of the trolley problem, Staren GROANS. Before she can respond, the first sniper shot hits her at a shallow angle, punching through that forcefield but not into her, the momentum sending her spinning and throwing off the followup shots.

"What happened to your VISION, Chains?!"

She chops at tower shield knight legs, rises, and blasts more fire at their visors, trying to get through. "You were gonna make a FAIR world. How were these people supposed to go about their day?! How were they supposed to beat YOU?"

"And yeah you throw the switch if you have to... But that doesn't mean you run around looking for switches to flip! It means you stop all the trolleys you can before they REACH that point! A world where someone has to make that choice... isn't fair, either!"
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa watches as it goes from CCG to poker wait what? She'll have to worry about that later. The good news for Kotone is she's able to have some idea of what he could do. She's not sure what he'd summon next though. Summoning shotgun and pistol blasts. It seems she's going to have just about anything being called at her. This time she's quick enough weaving dodging and flipping at least once out of the way of fire. She then vanishes for a moment flickering out of view. She'll try to make a go for Chains Knight, if the cloaked Kotone can make it she'll try to grab him and let loose with her build in tasers.
Chains Knight "It's simple," says Chains.

"They... aren't players."

"Any one of them could step up, challenge me, attempt to become a hero - none of them have."

The wall of shieldbearers is looking increasingly thin. Two of them have dropped, and the assaults are so far not quite breaching their way to the commander in the center, but getting increasingly close, and Kotone manages to slip in and grab him and tase him briefly, before one of the defenders pushes her back.

"Those who step up, who take it upon themselves to fight and put themselves at risk... get *rewards*."

The various card games are set aside, and he pulls out... a thick, hardback book, which he cracks open. "Let's see, got the loot tables up here..."

And a set of polyhedral dice, which he tosses to the ground without looking at them.

"For example - +2 Steel Felsabers," he says, as new shiny swords appear in the Stalwart Defenders' hands.

"And anyone not willing to step up... might as well be target practice."

The swords start swinging.
Gaonoir "You know." Chain Knights arms his soldiers with some better weapons, which is a sound tactical move. "He's got a few good points." There's the sound of weapons clattering, though it's more weapons against fists as Gaonoir punchs sword swipes away, causing them to swipe down his sides or against his legs instead of his main body. Not that they aren't leaving their mark, as several of those dark 'damage' marks are visible and occasional a few motes of digitalized energy whaif off his body.

The injury doesn't seem to be slowing him down any. If anything, the damage is making him fight all the more intensely. Battle is what Digimon live for, and what makes one like him feel the most alive in return. He doesn't really care -why- they're fighting or what silly setup brought it about.

Just that it's happening.

"How do you get stronger if no one can oppose you enough to need to?" He does need to take a moment to recompose himself, give himself a bit of space. "But you guys need to back off a bit." Gaonoir opens his mouth and unleashes a rattling shockwave of darkness infused wind from it surging towards Chains and knights, even if it isn't one of his more potent attacks it's got plenty of pushback. "Dark Howling Cannon!"
Staren     The +2 Steel Felsabers come in. Staren actually has melee weapons out, she can parry!

...But even with enhanced strength, the vibroblades are so light, it's hard to. They cut through her defense field, through her coat, and draw blood, though they don't cut deep with her own blades pressing back against them.

The catgirl barely has time to react. Attack incoming, swing as hard as she can to block or deflect it, be nearly thrown off-balance by that or diving out of the way, repeat. Some get through, and she gives a short hiss or moan of pain.

"These... people... You idiot! They have no CHANCE against you! Maybe they don't have a death wish, or maybe they have other people they need to be there for!"

One of the swords knocked out of her hand by the last parry attempt, a wire-and-blue-gem-adorned shotgun warps into her hand in its place, firing one, two blasts of chilling ice magic to try and slow the knights before she swings it around to aim at Chains himself, through defenders if need be, and pulls the trigger, titanium penetrating shells full of rocket fuel shooting out...!

Normally, they'd rapidly build up speed and hit harder and faster than any bullet, but at point-blank, they may hit early and push -- hopefully, the combination of chilled knights and an off-balance Chains will make it easier for the others to hit him!

"If there's no place for such people in your world... then it's just another false utopia built on the sacrifice of the innocent!" She continues to look pissed, but... there's a bit more there, now, than there was. She really did have hopes for the dream she thought he was going to build...
Kotone Yamakawa Players? She pauses is that like Kirito's world? She'll have to ask later, she needs to worry about the sword and this time she doesn't luck out. She attempts to avoid the sword and it does not go to well. She keeps from being cut in half, but she's cut pretty good there are strange fluids. Which ooze from her wounds and smell foul.

This is going to take her a moment to recover as she gets up her weapons vanishes, a moment later? She's got a big old rail gun in hand with some faded markings on it.

She'll raise it takes aim.

"Perhaps he does Gaonoir but this needs to stop."

She'll level the rail gun and carefully aim it for a moment longer before she fires.
Chains Knight And the defenders, finally, end up disappearing, beaten down into zero HP from Staren coming in with her freezing arsenal, and Gaonoir launching his devastating cannon... and Kotone simply shattering them into pieces with her railgun.

"... You argue with me, but you say I have good points," observes Chains, alone in the center of the bridge once again, as he puts the cards and dice and books away.

He pulls his chain off of its holster.

"And the prerequisites for being a hero do not include 'getting into battles you are sure you can win," he adds as he unspools a length of it.

"All you have to do is to step up."

"And there is a place for everyone else in the world... in the *background*. Where they belong. Where they'll be subject to whatever fates befall them as the heroes and the victors shape the world - as is should be their right. For *winning*."

"You act so disappointed, Staren - as if you have misunderstood me this whole time," he continues. "I am not a human. I am a game asset. And in video games..."

He starts swinging the chain.

"One side wins."

The chain lashes out - this time more forcefully, and with more force behind it - and not only does it strike, but the chain wraps around, trying to entangle everything it hits and pull them along with it, ultimately throwing them straight off of the bridge and into the river below!
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa is starting to get a better idea about Chains Knight and his motivations a lot makes sense now due to his comment to Staren. This is something to think about later, one side wins. She thinks she understands better now. Kotone is grabbed by the chain, she's crushed ensnared and thrown off the bridge. As this happens? She shifts her body a bit shift a bit and she jumps in mid-air back on the bridge she lands with such force she cracks the blacktop as she does so in a three-point landing. She's not looking too hot, hell her shell looks like it's about to be in a very bad place. If Staren is paying attention to that at all.

"So the data core is it then? I was a bystander once and ... NEVER AGAIN."

She'll bullrush Chains Knight attempting to bowl him down before her frame's ability to fight gives out.
Gaonoir The gleam in golden eyes can't be seen behind the visor, but Gaonoir's toothy smirk is hard to miss. It's hard not to. He understands a lot of what Chains is saying, maybe more than anyone will realize. It's not different from views he's seen before. Views he himself has held in the past. But time and circumstances have changed some of them.

Still, he understands where the guy is coming from. He has a role, and he's not just going to play by it, he's going to own it.

"If you're certain, where's the challenge," he replies. "The thrill? Victory doesn't come from being better."

The chain lashes out, which Gaonoir snaps an arm to swat aside. That doesn't quite work as it wraps around his gauntlet-clad arm this time instead of just whipping against it. So he's caught up in the following maneuver as the chain wraps and swings, dragging him across the bridge round, smashing into the side a car that thankfully has been abandoned, and heaving him over the edge of the bridge.

But there's no splash in the water below, or yells of falling or pain or destruction.

Just the roar of jet engines. A swoosh. And then Gaonoir rising up over the opposite side of the bridge, much like he had originally arrived. Except this time it's not just a hover, as he continues up higher into the air.

"It comes from finding your limit... and smashing it!"

The engines continue to roar as Gaonoir shifts at the apex of his rise, to angle back at Chains below and send himself hurtling towards him. One gauntlet clenches into a fist once more, starting to radiant energy around it as he winds back with it, sights locked on Chains Knight.

"VICTORY.. KNUCKLE... CRUSHER!"

At the very last moment he swings, a heavy blow backed up by the momentum of his rocketing rush, and the fighting spirit charged into his big metal fist!
Staren     There was still a little bit of hope. That it was a misunderstanding, that he'd just forgotten to tell the civilians and that he was going to equip them to fight if they asked, not only if they won.

Her face goes ashen as Chains Knight so casually dismisses the worth of those who, ironically, would normally only face such struggles *in* a videogame if they had any choice, precisely because they wouldn't survive it in real life.

The chain's crushing force tears through her defense field, and the labcoat isn't much help against blunt impacts or crushing. The life is squeezed out of Staren, she cries out in pain, and nearly passes out as she's flung over the water.

    No...

Someone with such a vision for the world... even he is stronger than me? Realer than me?

    I can't let this happen...

Visions of being cut down by Lilian replay in her mind. And Hesinca. And being unable to stand in Gevurah's presence. Countless times it didn't matter how hard she tried. Countless times others were lost, reality got worse, despite her wishes.

What's the point? I'm weak. I'll always be weak.

Distant voices on the wind reach her ears. NEVER AGAIN. VICTORY KNUCKLE CRUSHER.

    I'm... still alive?

    They're trying their hardest...

    Then... I'll try too!

Staren flies back up over the edge, coat billowing, her skin deathly pale. She winces every time she moves. She opens her mouth to speak, but words don't come out. Then a transmission comes over the radio instead:

<<"In a video game... the RIGHT side wins! Even if the player is weak and has to try and try again! It's the OPPOSITE of reality! If your idea of making reality like a videogame is to repeat reality's flaws with a new coat of paint... You're right. I am disappointed in you.">>

She struggles to hold out her hand, wincing, as a small salvo of minimissiles fly out towards Chains Knight, exploding in superheated fireballs. She'll repair the damage to the bridge later. In theory. If she doesn't collapse first.
Chains Knight Kotone comes in hot - and bowls Chains right over, knocking him on his back, the force getting him to drop his namesake.

"Yes! Never again!" he agrees with her, despite not totally understanding what she means or what she's referring to.

"And there! You understand it!"

Gaonoir's knuckle slams into Chains' midsection as he stands back up, causing him to keel over in the other direction.

"That's... it, find your limits, smash them..."

Staren comes in. The micromissiles fly. Chains makes some token attempt in response, reaching towards his pouch, trying to pull out something...

"... Ugh."

He falls back over.

"... And if you don't agree... with my vision for the world..."

He manages to roll over and look at Staren, in the last moments before he loses consciousness. "Then... get ready to fight harder for your vision..."

"... hero."

Annnnd he's down.
Gaonoir The blow he lands is brutal, but it isn't without it's own repercusions. Gaonoir is pushing eventhing he has into it, every last bit of energy and fighting spirit he has into what he knew was going to be the final strike one way or another. But one with no assurance of success.

Until Chains collapses.

There's a flash as bionic jetwolf stumbles away from the fallen knight.. and a small more cartoonish black dog in boxing gloves and headband flops on the ground instead. Sucks in a breath... and then sprawls on his back. "Whoo.. been a while since I've had a fight like that..." Instead of bothering to sit back up he just raises one arm to give a thumbs up. "Good job you two."
Staren     Staren floats over and lands in front of Chains Knight, wincing again even at that impact. She tries to speak again, fails. <<"I guess I should take him back to Grand Dorado... But can anyone tell me how 'fighting harder for my vision' doesn't mean finishing him off right now?">>

She frowns, wobbling unsteadily on her feet. <<"No... I don't want a world where the only path forward is through...">>

And then she wobbles more and passes out, collapsing next to him.

    Good Job! Victo...ry........?
Kotone Yamakawa Kotone Yamakawa is not looking so hot but he's still standing she bracing herself for the counter attack, she does listen to what he has to say. She has to wonder about it but Chains goes down, he's not getting back up and Kotone will sigh.

"I'm going to need some repairs and some time to let them settle...everyone else alive?" She does see that the three of them had Chains full attention which was the point of stepping in, right?
