Ishirou Right now, Site 13 (why 13?  Who knows, Ishirou just picked this name for some reason?) was more of a few tents around a somewhat structurally sound building that somehow managed to survive the cataclysm and the years of abuse that followed.

The building itself is actually fairly sturdy, with thick concrete walls, several stories, and various electronic connections.  It's got a lot of flaws too.  No running water, no electricity, and some structural problems, and needs a lot of cleaning up to be made usable.  It's also a small distance from the crater edge itself.

For those who haven't been to the crater itself.  It's a massive crater, surrounded by damaged or destroyed buildings.  The crater has a deeper cave network, with some enormous caves, but also smaller ones.  In the caves, strange robots move around seemingly with purpose.  Above though, strange alien animals seem to hover around the edge.

Some are hostile, others less so.  It seems they are mutated local creatures, mutated with some alien genome.
Kale Hearthward Kale arrives.

Some of the reason why is checking in on Ishirou's efforts, but he's honestly also just curious as to what's going on here. Why all the robots?

Why robots? Why birds, then? Who can say. Best not to worry too much.

He goes to make his way towards the building, deciding to check it out first.
Ishirou Ishirou himself is at the building, standing outside, and seems to be typing on a datapad.  He looks pretty engrossed.  Around him are strange robots with round heads and eyes.  Some have small hands and get around by hopping, others float in small flying machines, while others are larger and can handle larger work.

When Kale shows up, Ishirou pokes his head up.  "Oh!  Hey Kale!  Didn't expect you to come out, especially with all that land you got.  Well, I'm happy for any support even if it's just morale support.  We're trying to get this building cleaned up, repaired, and furnished so we can use it as both a launch point into the crater and a place to study things we bring up."

"Also the weird animals.  The animals are /weird/.  Also pretty tough.  The pig ones?  Yeah, don't mess with them."
Kale Hearthward Kale waves, and heads over towards Ishirou.

"I can make at least a little time," he says. It's also because a lot of the new claimed territory is sewers, and he's putting off exploring that for as long as possible.

"... And I'm good for more than *just* moral support," he says, crossing his arms as he closes the last bit of distance. "Though - it looks like you've got enough... robot things, to handle everything here..."

He approaches one at random and pokes at it.
Ishirou Ishirou actually beams at the 'wanting to do more than morale support'.  It's actually good to hear, and honestly, Kale being friendlier lately has been nice.  Also, he would understand wanting to avoid sewers.  Ick...also nothing good ever comes OUT of sewers.

Except for the Ninja Turtles.

"Well, the Machines here are good for consistent light work...I've been finding that they can do it very well over a long period of time, but it's very slow in the shorter term.  Like it's weird...the LONGER they're at a task, the better and faster they get.  The Factory I found them in runs extremely well, though not as efficient as you'd expect.  I'd been spending time trying to help with that."

"Well, there is one thing we could use help with.  We'd need to make a room to be able to contain dangerous things, well several rooms.  Some for storage and some for actual research.  We'd need a material we could line the walls in, or rebuild the rooms out of to help with this.  We also need to supply power, and water, and run air-purifying stuff through."

One of the robots that had been standing near Ishirou, holding something in its tiny arms is poked.  It beeps, and then speaks, "Please do not poke me.  My personal space is valuable to me!"  Despite what they look like, they seem to be sapient?  Weird!
Kale Hearthward Kale withdraws his finger. "Ah, my mistake..."

He goes back over to Ishirou. "Well - power-wise... how's the wind here?" He holds up a finger to test it. "My homeworld's adopting wind power, since there's almost always wind activity of some sort, so I can see if I can source a turbine and battery setup. And I've got the Paladins' emergency infrastructure repair team on call - I'll see if there's any teams between missions and get them out to do the install."
Ishirou Ishirou considers the question and then seems to look around for a moment.  Knowing him, he's likely getting data from the area.

"Well, I know of two options for that.  The taller buildings could be converted into wind turbines.." he points to some of the taller skyscrapers.  "Though their structure is questionable, so they'd need to be reinforced.  There IS an ocean nearby, it's a bit far so we'd have to run lines here, but the coastline is rather large."

"Other than that, the wind is actually pretty steady here.  From my analysis, it seems to be primarily easterly, and the majority of blowable debris has shifted west."
Kale Hearthward "An east wind, huh."

"... Anyway! The coast sounds like the better option, honestly. I'll scout for places that look solid enough to build on there..."

"... Ishirou?" He adds, lingering instead of going out there right away. "This may be an odd question, but..."

"... Do you care about me?"
Ishirou Ishirou nods to that, thinking.  "Then I'll have the Machines start laying cable out towards the ocean, and get batteries locally to store it.  I'll have to invest in some backup generators, but it's an actionable plan!"

He starts taping away, but the calling of his name gets his attention.  Though it turns into a very important question.  He lowers the tablet and looks at Kale.

"Are you alright?  Did something happen?" he asks, concerned.  Kale's usually so confident to the point of bordering on arrogance (and often steps over that line.) This question seems...odd almost.  "Of course.  You're a friend, right?  You've been a lot nicer lately too, and easier to get along with.." Or maybe their common disgust in Staren has led to their bonding.
Kale Hearthward "..."

He shouldn't have actually asked out loud.

"Just - something someone said to me, once. It got under my feathers. Don't worry about it. Thank you. I'm going to go scout, bye."

Advantage of jet boots: when you're feeling awkward about a conversation, you can just *leave*.
Ishirou Ishirou tilts his head to the side.  It's so tempting to want to know, but he can see it on his face too.  Also, when he actually answers the question, he listens.

"Wh-oh..." he says, "Man he's fast.." he says, with a thoughtful expression.  "Well, I guess we'll talk about it another time," he says with a scratch of his head.

Ishirou also sets up a HUD interface with Kale but doesn't press the issue.  Kale will talk when Kale wants to!
