Petra Soroka     After the Infinity Train and its aspiring new conductor were taken down, Berislav and Petra had a lot to talk about-- all the way back to the subject of her arrest, should they choose to. But when Petra finally responds to Berislav's invitation, she does something unexpected: she tells *him* the place to meet. It's only natural that it can't be a Watchtower anymore, especially since Petra destroyed one less than a week ago, but Petra's invitation still feels intentional.

The cafe that Petra waits inside is a bit of a distance away from the Warpgate in the L district of the City, forcing minutes of travel along the edges of the ambient blood and stench that's present even in the less-tended pockets of the Nest. Once Berislav arrives at the Bugeul Cafe, at least, it's relatively distanced from that atmosphere, and Petra is sitting in one of the little table nooks in the corner with her drink already ordered and paid for. This early in the day, most of the customers are taking their drinks and breakfast treats from the counter to go, leaving all the tables around Petra's alcove unoccupied.

Petra's eyes flick over to him the moment he opens the door, then back to her book, writing something in a notebook then flipping a page. She takes a sip from her paper cup, slouched on the bench cushion, evidently comfortable in the environment and just waiting for Berislav to sit down with her.
Father Berislav      It isn't Berislav's first visit to the City, but it is his first in casual attire. He has a taste for sugary drinks heavy on the cream, and his dress sense remains as snappy-yet-flamboyant as it was the last time she'd seen him thus appareled.

He takes a seat with the aforementioned latte after a short wait. Navy slacks are matched with a short sleeve button up in saturated teal, with broad, similarly saturated red, orange and navy stripes. It's tucked neatly in, rounded off with a simple brown leather choker.

One leg is crossed over the other. "Hello, Petra," he says, with the same warm smile as ever. "I hope you're well."
Petra Soroka     When getting closer, Berislav can see a glimpse of the inside of Petra's book, as she pointedly keeps it open to jot down more notes while he sits down, only closing it when she finishes what she was writing. The book looks like a fairly standard entry level university textbook on mechanical engineering, with compact diagrams of machines tucked around the pages.

Petra closes the book, slides it inside of a cheap-looking backpack beside her along with her notebook, then finally looks up at Berislav, her metal silver eyeliner glinting when her eyes flicker at the choker, then to his face. Petra herself is wearing casual clothes too, for once, though she still has her bomber jacket on over the black Nirvana tee, and her neck and arms are still wrapped in gauze.

"You know." Petra doesn't smile in response, but she also doesn't seem too tense, leaning back in her seat. "I'm doing pretty good, for once, actually. If I'd listened to all your scolding before, I wouldn't be."
Father Berislav      "I'm glad to hear it," says Berislav, electing not to respond to the remark about past scolding. "I'd been worried," he says, "That the past few weeks had been particularly difficult for you."

He frowns, slightly. "They were difficult for me. I hope you'll accept my apology for letting my frustrations with Hibiki's behavior get the better of me."

The priest gestures with a sweep of his palm to the book she has with her. "Pursuing a college education?"
Petra Soroka     "Tachibana's behavior has always fucking sucked. You feel bad about it because you're still letting her get away with it." Petra reaches out to dual-hand grasp her coffee cup, sipping slowly before continuing.

"I'm not going to. Whatever Lilian ends up deciding we do to her, it won't be putting up with her. I don't know whether the arm thing was just her testing out my hypothetical, or whether she's actually going to do it, but either way."

Petra puts her hands on her thighs and leans forwards, looking intensely at Berislav. "I'm going to hunt down Halcyon again, kill her and take my mech back, and go with Lilian to track down the other two. The parts of *my* past few weeks that were bad, I'm working on fixing."

After saying all that, Petra scrunches up her nose and pouts like she smelled something unpleasant. She shrinks down a little, hunching her shoulders, following Berislav's gesture to her backpack with her eyes.

"No, I'm not... going to college." Petra drums her fingers on the canvas of the backpack, not looking over at Berislav. "That's part of my reading list for Doctor Eggman. Fixing the bad parts of the last few weeks, like I said."
