What My World Was Wishing For
Date of Scene: 01 July 2015
Location: Ar Ciel
Synopsis: Misha finally has her precious thing.
Cast of Characters: 253, 415, Riva Banari, Reiji Arisu, 707, 747, 757

Misha (757) has posed:
Bourd Rade defeated. A threat to two worlds put down, Reyvateils rescued, and most importantly...
Misha has recovered her special something.
Whatever the green glinting gem is, ever since the events in the Silver Horn, Misha has been jealously protected of the small, jagged shaped, stone, entrusting it to no one, not even her closest friends.
So of all places to celebrate, why the old Tenba labs back on her tower?
This time returning to the depths of the lab is easier, with power restored, and the local Tenba forces having cleared out most of the monsters and handled some repairs enough to make the place no longer a deathtrap. Still, there's no miracle of repairwork in such a short time that could make the place any less run down.
Misha is waiting in the center room, the rusted walkway no longer rattling as people pass over it, after some sturdy reinforcement work, while a few technicians work to bring the years old machines up to speed.

Riva Banari has posed:
Riva is scatterbrained sometimes, but she's not dumb. She has a fairly solid idea of what that gem is once she finds that they're returning to those labs. She doesn't haver her weapons out, but she did come equipped with something else.

"Hey Misha! Want some pie?" Riva asks as she approaches. In on hand she's balancing a stack of disposable mini-plates and a pie tin of what looks like chocolate mousse, and the other holds a pie knife. "It seems like as good a time as any to celebrate!"

Kazusa Ujikane (415) has posed:
Those who were there to see her when they arrived at Mir's tower, to see the wide-eyed and curious girl, to see her being so warm and happy and full of (somewhat nerdy) life, will probably easily be able to spot the difference in Kazusa when she arrives. She looks... a little worn, perhaps. Seems a little more subdued. It's obvious that, while not missing sleep entirely, she hasn't been resting as well as she ought at her age, and her spirit seems just a touch dampened.

She's at least trying to hide it, though; offering warm smiles to those she recognizes, cheerful waves, greetings in good humor. And seeing the repairs and refurbishing going on in the lab is interesting, so she's got that to arrest her curiosity at least.

But whatever Misha has in mind, Kazusa seems content to let the reyvateil explain (or decline to explain) in her own time.

Xiaomu (707) has posed:
More than likely, Xiaomu would have offered to participate in clearing out monsters. It was less a matter of level-grinding and more one of helping to make the place safer generally; who wants to have a party with the risk of wandering monsters? ... Even if most of the people in attendance could make short work of any monsters who DID show up, and then use the item drops to help either make more food or just spruce the lab up a little more for the duration.

Rather than depending on random drops to contribute to the party refreshments, though, Xiaomu has brought a few boxes of her favorite brand of fried tofu, a bottle of sweet sake, and a couple of extra-large pizzas. She is pointedly not monopolizing the fried tofu, either ... she'll just take home the leftovers.

She also brought a PS3 with a portable screen-and-speaker system, and in between munchies, is gleefully schooling all comers at what looks like a fighting spin-off of a role-playing game.

Reiji Arisu has posed:
Even with Tenba's personnel handling security, Reiji has learned enough about strange ancient laboratories to know that he shouldn't come unarmed. So he hasn't. His weapon rack clatters loyally at his side as he makes his way toward the central chamber- and the strange equipment within.

He looks just a little haggard- presumably lingering after-effects from long-term Symphonic Energy exposure. But otherwise, he seems just the same as he always is. "So," Reiji inclines his head at the tube, "I'm guessing we finally get to learn what that thing does, huh?"

Psyber (253) has posed:
It's not too long after she sends out a summons for company that Psyber arrives. The half-angel, despite some torn muscles and damage from symphonic radiation, seems mostly okay. He's in his normal outfit and nursing one arm slightly by keeping it in his right pocket, but otherwise looking pretty good.

"Hey Misha." Psyber greets, not too far behind Riva and then looks to the others, "You guys should pay attention for this magic trick. It's gonna be a doozy," He notes facetiously in relation to what Misha is about to do.

Scarlet Everille (747) has posed:
Without much information as to what Misha needs her presence for, Scarlet hasn't taken the initiative to bring a bunch of food. After all, it'd be incredibly awkward if she came prepared for a party and walked into a funeral atmosphere isntead. She has brought something in her bag, but that can be easily hidden until she has some idea what the tone of the situation is. She still has some serious misgivings about that bridge, but the lack of wildlife and functioning power is refreshing if nothing else.

With Riva and Xiaomu doing the exact thing she had thought would probably be a bad idea, she gravitates away from their proximity seconding Reiji vaguely. "Oh? So this has a practical purpose as well as a sentimental one? Now I'm curious."

Misha (757) has posed:
The lights have been fixed since last time, which means the facility is no longer a near pitch black mess, so it's easy to see the techs have the massive tube-like machine back in working order. No sooner than people start arriving, Misha turns-- only to receive Riva's exuberant offer of pie, which actually earns a small, if genuine smile from the Reyvateil. She's still looking a little haggard after the Silver Horn, and the ravaging effects of unshielded Symphonic Energy, but she's on her feet and about, regardless. "Eheh... Maybe in a few, Riva. Thank you though."
Psyber however earns something of a huff, a petulant look with puffed cheeks. Savor it, Psyber. Savor it.
"Yeah." That's to Reiji and Scarlet, after a beat, before the Reyvateil speaks up. "I called you all here because I wanted to thank you." It certainly seems like a strange place to do such a thing, but a purse of her lips and she holds up the crystal in display. "This is a part of me that was taken away a long time ago by Bourd. I can't tell you all how long I've waited to have it back, and how much it means to me. And I thought you all have a right to see this. But now I need some help installing it again."
For the first time since she got ahold of the crystal, for all her jealous protectiveness of the gem, she offers it, holding it out to someone else.
To Psyber. "... Do you mind?"

Riva Banari has posed:
Perhaps notably, Riva has her bangs hanging over one eye. For no reason whatsoever. She will not be visiting Nathan either. Definately not.
She does, however, look surprised at Xiaomu as the foxwoman arrives with a lot more than Riva brought. Well, now it kind of /is/ a party. She nods to Misha and sets the pie aside, politely not munching on it for the moment.

She does, however, snaffle a piece of fried tofu and munches on it quickly.

Psyber gets a nod, and Riva tips her head, rubbing her chin as she considers what Misha's doing here. "Hmmmm..." She ponders, even as she slips over next to Kazusa and slips her a quick, comforting snug. She really looks out of it.

Kazusa Ujikane (415) has posed:
Food. Games. Things which are of perfect comfort to a teenager trying desperately to fight off the doldrums. It's little surprise that Kazusa gravitates over in Xiaomu's direction; probably just as little surprise that she very quickly has a plate loaded down with fried tofu, pizza, and even some of Riva's pie hastily snagged - at the cost of a quick hug that leaves her looking a little embarrassed. "Aah, thanks, I'm fine..." The schoolgirl soon seats herself on the ground next to Xiaomu, not taking her up on the fighting game challenge but watching quite intently... at least until Misha speaks.

"Part of you?" she murmurs, surprised. She's not sure exactly what's about to happen, but if Misha thinks it something they all need to see, then she's interested purely on that fact alone.

Psyber (253) has posed:
There's that long moment where Psyber stares at Misha evenly, tilting his head a little as she holds out the gem for him. He carefully reaches out and grasps it in his hand, looking down at it. He actually knows what it is, or what it will be doing, from the faintest prior experience. So he knows precisely the honor Misha is bestowing upon him.

"Mm. Yeah. I just put it in the machine after you climb into it, right? Or is there something else that's gonna need to be done. Don't wanna mess this one up."

Reiji Arisu has posed:
"Don't worry about it," Reiji answers with a slight shrug. "Leaving something that important in that asshole's hands isn't something I think any of us are comfortable about." And now Bourd is lost and dead forever in the infinite void of Mir's tower.

He glances over at Xiaomu and gives his partner a bit of a nod. "Supplies. Good. I have a feeling we'll be needing them." A celebration just isn't a celebration without the right fixings, after all.

"Anyway," Reiji says to Misha. "I don't want to keep you from this for much longer. We should probably save the questions for after everything's where it needs to be."

Xiaomu (707) has posed:
"'Install,' huh?" Xiaomu pauses the game, then turns to see what Misha's talking about. "... that crystal he dropped when we kicked his butt? No wonder you were so interested in chasing him down."

She grabs another couple of pieces of fried tofu from one of the boxes and moves to where she can get a better look at the crystal, and at whatever Psyber's about to do with it to Misha. (Or maybe to do to the crystal *with* Misha - you never can tell with some of these things ...)

Scarlet Everille (747) has posed:
Thank her? Misha obviously means something a little less literal, otherwise there'd be no need to come back here of all places. What exactly she needs the old Tenba lab for to thank people has equal parts of Scarlet's interest and suspicion, ally or not. The mention of the gem being "a part of her" is a bit of a more serious reminder of there being differences betwen Revyateils and humans, being something Scarlet still hasn't entirely appreciated yet. The mention of "installing", even more so.

"The right?" she asks in a tone of mild disbelief. "If it's something you wouldn't want to show someone else, you don't have to show me of all people." Why is that anyways? What kind of dark or embarrassing secret could a gem involve? Of course she can't imagine it'd be anything but that. It's merely for the sake of politeness though. Even if asked to turn around, she'd watch it remotely anyways.

Misha (757) has posed:
Eating in the rusty old lab is earning some funny looks from the technicians as they filter out. Everything looks about set up. But Misha isn't going to begrudge people some form of more tangible celebration. And some people seriously deserve some pie after being exposed not only to the equivalent of musical radiation, but also Bourd Rade.
It's a brief vulnerable moment and immense display of trust for her to be holding that gem out to someone else.
"Yep. A part of me. Something I've wanted back since as long as it's been gone." Given to Kazusa in reply. "I've waited six years for this. I can wait just a few minutes more to have it back." Mused in a lighthearted tone back at Reiji. But anyone who's paid attention to Misha's mannerisms in the slightest will be able to tell.
    She's nervous.
"It's fine. You all helped me a lot, so I want you all to see this." That's right. Install. Clambering into the large device, she winces when the tube slides shut, bad memories from the last time she was inside of it earning a cringe.
"Alright. Slot it in and turn it on."

Reiji Arisu has posed:
"Fair enough," Reiji answers with a chuckle. He sets his weapons against a nearby piece of machinery and reclines against it as the show begins. "But I'd feel guilty if I held things up for too long. There'll be plenty of time once this is done."

He also leans over and steals one of Xiaomu's fried tofu slices. She's not looking, anyway, and she's clearly brought enough to share! Otherwise he might be risking a hand. Or two.

Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber nods to Misha when she climbs into the tube. What it does specifically, he hasn't spoiled if she's not going to. It'll be, on some level, funnier to let people see for themselves. He also, despite its imminent spoiling, simply won't violate Misha's privacy like that. Either way, the crystal is in his hands and he's twirling it around on his palm nervously.

"Right. Executing uh... Chronicle Key," Psyber notes as he steps up to the console and slots in the crystal to the proper opening before hitting a few buttons, "Haha..." He comments awkwardly to the others, "Be prepared to be surprised."

Xiaomu (707) has posed:
Xiaomu isn't so gauche as to bring food to a gathering of friends and allies and *NOT* share it. There's plenty of tofu to go around, and this gathering was described as a 'party,' so yeah, she brought refreshments.

At the moment, though, her thought is less on food or drink or entertainment and more on what Misha's asking Psyber to do. "If she didn't want others to see it, Scarlet," the sage fox points out, "she wouldn't have invited the rest of us down here - it'd just be her and Psyber."

And speaking of Misha and Psyber, she turns more of her focus back to the tube and the console. She has a vague guess at what's about to happen, but no more than that.

Kazusa Ujikane (415) has posed:
Parked next to Xiaomu as she is, all Kazusa can do is watch in silent fascination. It's enough to make her forget about her worries and sleep deprivation, for the moment.

...It's not stopping her from continuing to scarf, though.

Riva Banari has posed:
Riva nods again and gathers herself, apparently trying to handle this situation with the solemnity it deserves. She folds her arms behind her back. "God, Psyber, you just can't wait for us all to stand there and gasp in surprise, can you?"

Despite this, she fidgets a little. THE SUSPENSE IS MAXIMUM.

Psyber (253) has posed:
"Well, it's one of the few joys I've had to flaunt lately," Psyber replies to Riva with a grin as he works, shrugging his shoulders a bit, "So you gotta give me a little room to enjoy this now. After all, it's a pretty hard victory on our part, and these are pretty rare."

Misha (757) has posed:
Suspense is maximum, and for a good reason. Misha has been quiet about just what the exact meaning behind this crystal is. But once the gem is slotted into the machin and Psyber presses the varied activation runes, it hums to life. Building to a surge of crackling energies, symphonic power, complex calculations machinegunning down the screens in Hymmnos. Misha draws a breath, and squeezes her eyes shut, as the interior of the pod begins to glow a hot, blinding white. For a long moment it's impossible to see within, not even a silhouette of the small figure that had stepped in just a moment ago, as the room itself thrumbs with building power.
Cables snap, the old machine ruptures and vents smoke in a few places, but it seems to be holding, despite is abused disuse over six years of sitting idle. Finally with a loud POP, the power in the room just dies completely. The lights go out as the acrid smell of smoke filters from the now very dead apparatus. Emergency lights come on first, songstones in the floor gently humming to light with a soft glow, before the main lighting kicks back on. The interior of the glass is obscured by smoke and mist before it slides open on its own, foggy vapour licking out in slow plumes. Before there's a footstep from within. The click of a single heel.
The small, slender, twelve year old girl that had stepped into the machine is gone. Replaced by a stunning woman in her twenties, with smoky jade eyes and mildly coquettish smile.
    Meet Misha Arsellec Lune.

Kazusa Ujikane (415) has posed:
The ramshackle nature of the machine becomes more obvious - and worrying - with every little billow of smoke and every cable that gives out. Kazusa finds herself biting her lip. Thaaaat's slightly worrying. More worrying is when the loud pop happens and the room's power goes out entirely; she lets out a tiny, surprised squeak at the sudden noise and darkness, only to find herself waiting eagerly again as the emergency lighting comes up, followed by the room's power. And the shorty she watched go into the tube is not who emerges.

Dumbfounded for several seconds, all Kazusa can do is stare. And then on reflex she reaches up to straighten her glasses, and exclaims a surprised and probably overly-blunt, "...he stole your womanliness?" She did not know such a thing was possible.

Reiji Arisu has posed:
For a moment, Reiji wonders if- maybe- they shouldn't have rushed this thing. As the power flickers off, he regrets not insisting that Tenba make sure the machine worked properly before even so much as touching it. When the power comes back on, though, his worries... largely evaporate. Reiji's head cants slightly at the woman in the pod. He... Might be staring. Just a little bit.

But not for untoward reasons! No, he has perfectly good reason for leering.

"So that's what you meant," Reiji chuckles cryptically, looking away to fish out another slice of aburaage. "Glad to see everything worked out well."

Though that raises a... worrisome question.

"What the hell was Bourd doing with that crystal, anyway?" Reiji's eyes flicker towards Kazusa, "I sincerely doubt he was interested in making use of your womanliness for himself."

Psyber (253) has posed:
"That I don't know. The other Misha I knew never told me what all was in the crystal. I just knew it aged her up. Misha here is actually very much older than the other one I met, so uncharted territory ahoy," Psyber says, still nursing his right harm in his jacket and pretending it's okay. He is smoking with his left hand, though, and acting casual.

"How're you feeling, Misha?" Psyber asks curiously as he looks over towards her.

Xiaomu (707) has posed:
Xiaomu contents herself with - once the lights come back on - looking over Misha's grown-up body with a leisurely air; it's not like she's going to revert to little-girl mode again without warning, at least not if it took THIS much trouble to get Misha into her proper young adult form ... or rather, 'back' into it.

"To be a mature woman is to possess strength, Reiji," the sage fox points out. "I doubt that guy rade'd her just to feel oh so pretty ... he wanted her power, her 'magic' as a Reyvateil."

She frowns, hairtails flicking gently as if stirred by a breeze. "He was trying to extract that kind of 'essence' from the other Reyvateils, wasn't he? Both the live prisoners we managed to rescue, and the dead ones whom we were too late to save ..."

Riva Banari has posed:
Riva looks concerned, and then her experession grows more and more worried as the machine overloads and does its job for what will probably be the last time ever.

And then everything goes dark. There is a gasp, and a fumbling noise. When the lights come back on, Riva is adjusting a mining hard hat, and she is caught staring at the new Misha. She pauses, quiet...

And then with a squeal she rushes forward, her arms outstretched as she gives New Misha a big hug. "You're /beautiful/, Misha!" She exclaims brightly.

Misha (757) has posed:
Taking a moment to dust herself off a bit Misha gives herself one long, languid stretch, as if once again getting used to a body she hasn't had in years. Annnnd then she sputters. "Wh-what? No, not my womanliness!" Misha will always be Misha, of course, but now the Reyvateil looks significantly... Happier.
"I'm fine. I'm feeling fine." Comes her reply, smooth and easy. "No, what he took from me was a song. My song- one passed down my line for generations. My body turning young again was... Kind of a side effect."
There's a mild pause, as if she's waffling on explaining more, before she decides to give it up. "It was actually the song used to force Mir into suspended animation for hundreds of years. Not exactly the kindest use of the feelings and emotions contained inside it. I don't really need it for that anymore, but it's still a part of me, all the sa--"
Rivahugg'd. The rush earns a soft gasp, but then with a chuckle, Misha returns the embrace. "Anyway, I don't think I would have been able to get it back without all of your help. So thanks, guys."

Xiaomu (707) has posed:
Xiaomu finishes the piece of fried tofu she was holding and moves to hug Misha (and Riva) as well. "Whatever it was he stole, I'm glad you got it back too ... and you're welcome, of course!"

The sage fox certainly seems to be cheerfully contented with the accomplishments of the adventure.

Kazusa Ujikane (415) has posed:
Kazusa can't help herself. She stifles a laugh at Misha's response. She hadn't meant for it to happen, but it's deeply amusing nonetheless. "A song that has that kind of effect... it must be really something," she muses. For a moment, she seems lost in thought... but then something hits her. "-oh! Oh, maybe we should check if..."

Open goes the purse. In goes a hand. It takes a few seconds of rummaging before Kazusa finally hauls out all five Cards of Heroes, fanning them out with a positively giddy little giggle. "Say, Misha, Misha~! Do you mind if I see if any of my cards react to you?"

Reiji Arisu has posed:
"Ah, well," Reiji gives a firm nod. "It's probably for the best that he was after... something else." The less the world has of Pretty Warrior Bourd-chan, the better. "It's interesting that removing a song had that much of an effect on your body, though. Probably a pretty complicated reason behind it."

"Anyway," Reiji pushes off from his rest. "If you want to thank us, then maybe breakfast is called for, one of these days." Because the last time was crepes and pancakes, and that /is/ something the world could do with more of.

Psyber (253) has posed:
"Psh. No big deal. I'm sure some day I'll lose something important like my car keys, or whatever, and you'll help me find them and then we'll be even-steven," Psyber says in a way that doesn't at all foreshadow future events. He lets out a heavy, scoffing laugh and then flips the hand holding the cigarette a bit, "That's just how stuff like this works, after all."

He will not be participating in hugging. He already gave two of those out so far this year and he needs to conserve the two others.

Riva Banari has posed:
YEAH GROUP HUG. Riva happily snugs Xiaomu with celebratory glee, but finally gives Misha some space and pulls back, clapping. "Well, everything seems to have ended well. I'm super glad to have been able to help you with that!"

She pauses, thinking for a moment as she brings a finger to her lips, "Given the insane crap he was spouting earlier, I'm guessing he was planning to try to use the song as a weapon against that other Mir..." He shakes his head. "What an asshole. Anyway, good riddence to bad rubbish. Let's focus on the cool things! So did anything else change? Hmm hmm?"

Scarlet Everille (747) has posed:
It strikes Scarlet a little too late that the Tenba personnel may not have actually had the knowledge to properly fix up a device this obviously central to a single man's esoteric mad science. She takes several steps back from the pod as it whirrs, flashes and smokes, shielding her eyes with one hand as she tries to make anything out through the insane magical corona, an expression of worry fixed on her face the entire time. Of course it's actually worry that the thing will blow up in her face and spray shrapnel all over, but if she's feeling worry at all, why not let everyone interpret it as worry for Misha?

Okay so she is actually a little interested in the Revyateil, as evidenced by the fact that she's mildly relieved to see that she hadn't been fried. It takes her a little bit more than an instant to fully grasp that the woman exiting the pod actually is Misha though. The implications are instantly terrifying: Things exist in the multiverse that can turn you into a 12 year old.

"I imagine a song must be something integral to a Revyateil if everything I've seen is any indication. More importantly though, I imagine something like that must have been intimately important to you. I don't consider the property of a family's history to be a light matter." Her tone is strangely warm, yet incredibly serious. "Had I known... well it's not important. What's important is that you have it now, and nobody exists to take it from you again~" She abstains from a group hug. Hugs aren't something she does.

Glad she had at least prepared for a happy occasion, she undoes the catches on her bag and slips out one of those black cards, this one with a much less complex circle on it than the usual. She drops it at her feet, stepping on the edge, and the floor space a little bit ahead of her flares with seething, violet-black light, resolving into a compact, electrical icebox. "Well, you're drinking age now aren't you? Care to celebrate~?"

Misha (757) has posed:
It's old, outdated, and terrible machinery. The fact that the Tenba techs got it working is a pretty big miracle in and of itself. "Songs are everything to a Reyvateil. It's not just how we express ourselves, and use magic, but who we are, really." Misha explains mildly, after managing to free herself from the big group hug with Riva and Xiaomu after a sufficiently huggy few moments. "And excuse you, I'm twenty five, I've been drinking age for years."
Out comes Misha's tongue for a moment, "This was kind of a lot bigger for me than car keys and you know it. But I'll do better than breakfast. How about dinner, for everyone?"
As for Kazusa: "Huh. Let's give it a go, I guess."

Kazusa Ujikane (415) has posed:
Up on her feet already, Kazusa jogs over to Misha, holding her five cards out towards the reyvateil in a way that makes them easy to see - about half again as wide as a common poker card, and twice as long outright, each one has an ornate golden border and back, and a simple icon on a black background - a sword, a bow and arrow, a gnarled staff, a dagger, and a set of bestial teeth. It takes a second, but then one of the cards in Kazusa's hand shimmers as if in response to Misha's proximity; the one with the staff on it, in specific.

"Aha! You're a Magus, it looks like." A brief pause. "...say, does your song magic work outside of the tower, come to think of it?"

Reiji Arisu has posed:
"Dinner, huh?" Reiji thinks for a moment, then nods. "Dinner sounds good. We'll bring some booze. Payback for the last time, you know?" Does mind-booze even count? Apparently it does. For Reiji, at least. "I look forward to it. The last time was pretty great."

Xiaomu (707) has posed:
"Dinner sounds pretty good!" Xiaomu chimes in. "Did you mean tonight, right now? Or sometime in the near future?"

She's good either way, never mind the pizza she brought.

Riva Banari has posed:
"Woohoo! Dinner!" Yeah, you don't have to do much to get Riva excited. But she was probably born excited, just bouncing around and giving the doctor hugs.

"I can only imagine what it would be like if you held a concert. I wonder if that's a feasible thing?" Riva wonders. "Either way, congratulations!"

Misha (757) has posed:
A magus huh? That gets a tilt of her head, but the Reyvateil doesn't question the cards. As long as one using her powers doesn't go berserk like the other night. "Yeah, the Towers usually have ridiculous range, so I haven't found too many places where I couldn't sing." That said...
"Okay, so how about we get out of this old wrecked lab and find somewhere nicer to celebrate. And a kitchen."
    Prepare for bliss, folks.

Kazusa Ujikane (415) has posed:
"Oooh. I'll have to keep you in mind," Kazusa decides. "I'm gonna really explore my options this time, see who all is available." She offers a broad smile. "But if you'd be willing, I'd love to borrow your powers sometime and see what it's like to be able to sing like that! I could really feel how much heart you put into it."
