Location: The Citadel - Ward 17 <CW>
Synopsis: After her 'death', Yari comes to Medusa for a checkup. Thoughts on dying and getting better are shared, as well as how to better murder people. Then Yari donates her body to snake-science. Surely nothing could go wrong with this plan.
Cast of Characters: 22, 691

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari is finally in the Ward for her checkup. Medusa would likely have been forwarded a preliminary report: stabbed to death after activating a ninjutsu that let her create a new body from illusion. The body's even in cold storage, thanks to Ferham. And yet, in walks the ninja, looking as flesh and blood as before. She's wearing her kimono, though a lighter one given she's here for a checkup.

She even knocks on the door to Medusa's Office.

"Lieutanant? Are you in? Ensign Takane, reporting for examination, Ma'am!" Once Medusa opens the door? The ninja will be saluting already.

Medusa Gorgon (22) has posed:
The witch is indeed in her office as she said she would be, reading over the report she was forwarded. She is leaning back in her chair, flipping through the pages as she makes sense of the words written within. How peculiar. Yet, she recognized Yari's voice well enough over the radio yesterday when she asked for the appointment. This ought to be a treat, as Medusa is always curious about cases like these.

When the knock comes on her door she briefly glances up from the report. "The door is open, dear. Enter."

When Yari enters and salutes, Medusa tosses the report onto her desk, rising from her chair and looking Yari carefully over. "I must say, it's refreshing to see that I'm not the only one who seems to like cheating death~" she muses with no small degree of amusement in her tone. With her hands in the pockets of her coat she nods in the direction of the examination bench in the corner. "Please, lie down and I'll examine you. And I must say I would like to hear about what happened from your own mouth." This is highly interesting, she must admit.

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari enters, giving an embarrassed little hiss. Woops!

Still, she sits down on the examination table, ready to let the medical officer get to work! Her tail tucks slightly.

"Well, it wasn't intentional. I was lucky." She starts, then nods. Laying out, tail flicking off the side of the table, she awaits the doctor's work! Yari, at least judging from her last physical, seems more or less in the same physical shape: fit from active life style and a soldier's work load, though definitely in need of a good massage or two judging from how tense those muscles are. Indeed, everything points to this being a real, physical body in the exact same shape before her 'death'. Her magical aura, however, is definitely diminished and there's severe exhaustion to the ninja. Both seem to be rapidly healing, but there's a few stress lines to her that weren't there before. However she did it, it was something that was very taxing.

"Well, I brought a team to the Asian Plains to try to negotiate an end of hostilities with the former students of my teacher in the arts. It was a trap, like I feared. The others handled themselves well, but they hired mercenaries and there were beasts."

"I used a ninjutsu technique Sanary and I stole. It uses illusion magic to create a false world that crystalizes illusionary bodies into reality." She concentrates, and makes a handsign. With a quiet 'pop', a shadow clone appears right beside Yari.

"It's like one of these clones, but more...conceptual, I guess. Here." She yanks out a scroll from within her kimono. It's all in Japanese, and goes on about a technique to turn illusion into reality, and creating false bodies.

"I intended to use them as a surprise attack, but my enemies caught up to me first. Stabbed in the back. After that...it gets hazy. I think Archer shot my original body while my consciousness faded into the other three 'clones'. It seems like my soul can move between them if I die. Presumably an enemy would have to kill all of my bodies, though I can only make three in total right now." She shudders as she mentions dying though. It clearly wasn't a pleasant experience.

Medusa Gorgon (22) has posed:
"Death is seldom intentional unless we deal it to others," Medusa states with a light chuckle as she walks over to the examination table and sits down on the wheeled stool there. The witch pushes herself up further next to the bench, looking Yari over as she reaches out to pull her stethoscope out of her pocket, putting it in place before she sneaks the end of between the folds of Yari's kimono, listening for a while, closing her eyes as she does so. When Yari continues talking she begins to palpate the young lady's abdomen, her fingers firm. Next she uses her stethoscope to listen to her belly.

"So," Medusa begins, reaching a hand up to snap her fingers on each side of Yari's head, clearly testing her sensory abilities, "You were stabbed by an Unionite during the truce. I heard you talk with general Hall on the radio the other day, so that's what it was about, hmmm...?" Somehow the witch appears slightly amused by this. She does glance at the shadow clone briefly, but her focus is clearly on Yari where she lies. Next Medusa pulls out a small flashlight from her pocket, using it to peer into Yari's eyes before she turns it off and moves it from side to side, up and down, all while she keeps a hand on Yari's chin. "Dying is never pleasant, trust me. Don't get used to it~"

Then suddenly the woman leans forward, her right hand moving up Yari's chest, and then Medusa presses her knuckles down against her patient's sternum. A sensation that should /not/ be very pleasant. It's outright painful.

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
"I much prefer offering it, I've found." Comes Yari in agreement. According to the report, she's been having nightmares.

Yari shivers a bit! That thing's cold! But her heart rate is good, slightly fast. She gets nervous in doctor's visits.

The stomach works too, though there's a grunt of discomfort during the examination. That feels /weird/. She gives little squeaky hisses with every palpatation. Frown. She doesn't protest though.

Every snap has the ninja peering at those fingers! Senses definitely, and just as sharp as ever. She has to suppress an urge to chomp the finger. Blasted lizard instincts.

"Technically. Archer shot through my dead body to get at my killers. It killed one of them, but...well, it was definitely a questionable act. That man's a danger to everyone, his Master included. I'm thinking of seeing about an assassination mission against him."

The clone swiftly poofs out of existance. That light is distracting, and she gives a hiss of pain! Doubly so when those knuckles press against her sternum!

"Nnngh!" She mutters, gritting her teeth. She'll have to remember that one.

"I should spar with you some time. Techniques like that would be painful and debilitating." Darn medical knowledge!

"I'd rather not repeat it. I think Sanary would tie me to a post to keep me from getting myself hurt again if I did. And I'd rather you not die yourself. You're a pleasure to work with, and we always need professionals to keep we soldiers in line." She says, in between grunts of suffering.

Medusa Gorgon (22) has posed:
"How sacrilegious," Medusa says with a clearly exaggerated huff. "Shooting through a dead body like that?" Quite resourceful...

Luckily Medusa withdraws her knuckles quickly, and she offers the poor girl a warm smile. "How wonderful, it seems your body is indeed fully functional~" As for the topic of sparring, the witch does give Yari an amused leer, her eyes briefly turning to slits. "Now why do you think I'm such an effective field medic, dear? The better you know how to heal, the better you also know how to /hurt/ people. The best way to check whether a patient responds to painful stimuli. The sternum is quite sensitive~"

With that Medusa swivels away slightly, reaching out to take a syringe. "I will need some blood samples, you do seem tired and I want to make sure you're not anaemic. I don't suspect it too strongly, but better to be thorough, hmmm? Perhaps you simply need time like I did when I revived. And yes, don't make a habit out of it. Sanary can be quite... serious." After Medusa finds a tourniquet she begins wrapping it around Yari's upper arm. "Have you noticed any differences between this body and your original one...?"

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
/Scowl/! "The man has no respect for rules of war." There's definitely simmering hatred in her voice. This may well be a boiling pot in need of some extra heat.

Then Yari relaxes, rubbing her sternum. /Ow/. At least that warm smile is reassuring. The woman has a good bedside manner, and it's easy to like Medusa.

That leer has her shivering, however, as the ninja stares into those slits. Scary, scary witch! The ninja at least keeps eye contact, though, trying to not show a flash of fear /too/ much.

"I'm glad to hear. I don't need any more loss of functionality." A glance to her missing arm.

"Nnn! I should study more on the subject then. I don't have any formal anatomy training aside from where to strike someone, but...well, if you know any good books, I could use the recommendations." Shiver. /Definitely/ painful and sensitive. She tries not to think of a full-force strike from the nimble witch.

Yari grunts at the tourniquet. She always hates those things, she feels so restricted in them. Wince. Medusa would find something out about Yari.

She hates needles, and she squeels like a little girl when one is used on her. It might be a little adorable, even.

"I...Just a few." She mumbles, still clearly shaking of needle-fear. Shiver shiver. She opens her kimono a bit. The scales around her chest are missing a few scarrs, and they're slightly brighter and more polished looking. 'Idealized', really.

"Just small things like that. I couldn't imagine myself perfectly. But thankfully everything seems in the right place." Frown.

"...Though I really would have liked it if I had imagined myself an inch or two taller. Among other things." It seems she can't alter her appearance too much with it!

Medusa Gorgon (22) has posed:
Rules of war... what a silly concept. War is war, and when you have a goal, the most common thing is to do whatever needs to be done.

"I agree... some people can be so rude, can't they~?" Medusa laments with a sigh, shaking her head as she prepares some vials that she can attack to the syringe. Though when Yari speaks about good places to strike people, the witch looks pensive. "Personally it depends on whether you want them dead or alive. Dead... major arteries. The carotis in the neck, brachialis underneath the arms, the abdomen where you focus on the liver, kidneys or the spleen as they are rich with blood and will bleed out easily, the femoral arteries on the inside of the thighs... If you want them alive? The back of the head, of slit the tendons in their legs," she says as if it's more scientific than anything else. To her it probably is. "Though I can recommend some good anatomy books. People have different fighting styles, and you have to adapt accordingly. I imagine you focus on speed like myself though. I was never one for brute force."

Luckily for Yari it appears that Medusa is quite used to finding veins, and it's barely a tiny prick when she inserts the needle into her elbow. Soon enough the first vial begins filling with blood, and Medusa doesn't look bothered by the squeal that the lizard lets out.

So it seems like Yari can imagine her body the way she wants it, hmm? "That sounds useful... as long as your imagination is rich and you're able to envision it properly, I imagine..." Another vial is filled, and then Medusa begins filling a third one. "I do wonder though... where is your original body now?"

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
/Frown/!

"He is rude, annoying, has no tact, and cannot shut up." Grrrrr. Yup, definitely bad blood there.

Pomf! Cue another clone. That picks up a pen and pad, and starts taking notes. Ninja powers can be so useful. Especially around the house!

"Nnn! I don't target the tendons as much as I should. That's useful, especially if I have surprise on my hand. Thighs? Really?" She sounds /far/ too interested right now. It distracts her from the needle-fear.

"Please! Those would be very useful. Correct, I prefer to strike at vulnerabilities and use my speed to strike first. Preferably so I don't need a second one. I'm not particularly durable. And it's not particularly useful for changing my appearance. Every time I use it, I become exhausted and can't fight well for a few days. I'd rather use it as a last resort. And...well, I've been having nightmares fo when I was killed."

She still squeals and whimpers. Like a little puppy.

"Cold storage in the rest of medical. I think I have the storage number." Her clone writes down said number and offers it to Medusa.

She blinks. "Why do you ask?" She adds, slightly obliviously. It's been a long week, she's not thinking straight.

Medusa Gorgon (22) has posed:
"If you slice the tendons then they won't be able to move as much. Besides, tendons are easier to get through than bones and muscle..." Trust her, she should know. "Especially if you use knives. With a katana it's easy to cut through a leg, a torso, anything..." With that Medusa appears to be done taking blood samples, so she withdraws the needle and applies a small bandage to Yari's elbow. There we go!%R    The witch rises from her seat, turning the vials carefully over as she heads over to the workbench on the other side of the room. "I will find a book on anatomy when I'm done, just be careful with it, it's useful as reference material." It's not like she hasn't already memorized all of it already.

"You don't need to be durable in a fight as long as you can keep the other person from striking you. Work on your speed, apply your strengths and build on them..." the nurse states calmly even as she makes her way across the office, her slippers barely making a sound on the floor. So, this ability of hers exhausts her. Which might be why she looks so tired right now. That makes sense, if it requires a lot of energy, magic of whatever she uses for her illusions. Even more to make one solid and suitable for her to live in... "If the nightmares bother you, I have some medicine that can help you there. Is it falling asleep that's hard, or do you wake up often and early?" Medusa inquires curiously.

So... Yari's old body is in cold storage. Here in medical. Even as Medusa stands by the workbench, setting the vials aside next to a lamp on the wall. The light from it shines through the blood, Yari's blood, casting a red colour against Medusa's silhouette as the nurse slowly turns her head to look back at her patient. Even as she carefully cants her head, she smiles tenderly, the smile wellpracticed and warm. However, the red light casts an eerie glow over the woman's face, and from where Yari lies, Medusa's almost seems to peer down at her, those golden eyes not as warm as they were a moment ago, not compared to red glow.

"... would you mind letting me have it?"

Her words are soft, gentle. A starch contrast to the viper's gaze that peers down at the lizard, as well as the white of her teeth to the darkened shadow cast over part of her face where she stands.

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari ponders!

"Nnn! That would be excellent for incapacitating opponents then. I do prefer immobile prey. It makes it far easier to eliminate them." Her mind is clearly running Medusa's advice through her head!

And the needle is gone. Yari shudders in relief. Thank /goodness/.

Then she's standing up, and saluting again!

"Nnn! Of course, Ma'am! I'll treat it the respect it deserves!" She easily goes back to that soldier tone!

A swift nod. "I've been training in Tenra recently, Miss Kagenashi's world. It has been...frightening, but educational. Nnn. Works on my strengths. I see. And it's helped me with the cold. The risks are worth it for someone of my profession. I've found dangerous training to be the most valuable. If you have any suggestions on that matter, I'd be happy to take them." The lizard is definitely hanging on Medusa's every word here.

Her magical aura is definitely diminished from usual! "I wake up often. Last night, I could only sleep two hours. Please, medicine would be helpful."

Red casts an awful visage upon that smiling face, so tender, canted just right! It would be warm, comforting. Like a proper healer's look she's seen from Sanary so often. But this healer's gaze, as they peer, has ice running through Yari's veins. Never before has she suddenly felt so small, as though a snake were about to wrap around her and devour her whole. She stares into those eyes, and there's naked fear in them.

They close, and Yari manages to pull herself together. At the least, the ninja is made of stern stuff. She's terrified, but ready to face the serpent before her. The fact that she's an ally is the thing that keeps her from hissing in pure terror amidst that horrible red light.

"...Well, it's useless to me. I trust your judgement, Lieutenant. And I admit, I'm curious what you'll do with it." Fear is in her eyes...and yet, some spark of evil is in her soul, and her words are honest. One might even catch a hint of eagerness in them.

Medusa Gorgon (22) has posed:
The nurse, no... the witch smiles even wider, turning fully away from the light, the red glow no longer cast over her face, and her eyes squint slightly as the smile reaches her eyes. "Thank you, dear~ After the Union learned of my true nature it's... harder to get more test subjects, sadly..." The woman walks over to the medicine cabinet on the wall, opening it as she looks over the rows of medication bottles, clearly searching for something. "As for what I will do with the body... testing. Perhaps your physiology can be useful to me in some way. And this way I can do tests I wouldn't be able to do on my allies." It's no longer Yari, after all. It's just a body.

"As for training, I am willing to spar with you sometime should you wish to learn how to incapacitate a target." Suddenly Medusa's hand halts slightly, and then she pulls out a bottle of dried herbs that she tosses over towards Yari. "Brew some tea with this every night before you go to bed. It ensures a deep sleep for about 6 to 7 hours. A tea spoon is enough, drink it all while it's hot." That said, she moves on over to her shelves, and she quickly finds a large tome that she pulls out, holding it in both hands. And this item is not tossed over to Yari, instead the nurse walks over to the girl and hands it over. "Chapter 2 to 7. I except you to read it before we spar. Is that understood~?"

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
A deep breath, and out! All of that fear evaporates, and Yari is left feeling drained. It's hard to sort out her feelings for Medusa. Respect. Intimidation. Fear. And a strange sense of liking the woman despite it all. Or maybe because of it. Almost like her mother, but not quite. Perhaps like the really creepy older sister she never had, and always wanted.

Yari rubs her face, trying not to think too much any more. It's getting really weird, and she's been creeped out enough by the nurse-witch. She needs a drink.

Yari offers a little smile in turn. Very tiny. There will definitely be an uptick in self medication this week thanks to Medusa.

"In that case, if I have any more...ah, bodies left when I use the technique, I'll make sure that they end up in your lab, Ma'am. And maybe a mark or two that doesn't need to leave a statement." How helpful, this ninja!

Nnn! She catches the bottle, and offers a salute!

"Understood, Ma'am! Chapters two through seven!" The tome is taken too, and then she turns.

"I'll look forward to it. Thank you for everything, Lieutenant! Join me and Sanary on our down time. You could make for interesting company with us!" Comes the offer, and then, she leaves with military pride.

An hour or two later, she's fast asleep, drunk, and sleeping well thanks to both that medicine and snuggles with her daughter. Crona would be jealous.
