Blurr Meets More of the Union
Date of Scene: 19 July 2014
Location: Njorun Station - Ring of Philosophy
Synopsis: An impromptu and non-conventional training session happens when Toph and Blurr meet for the first time, with lots of fun had!
Cast of Characters: 20, Blurr

Blurr has posed:
Zoom zoom zoom! Blurr doesn't usually take orders from people who aren't his superior officers, especially not tiny fleshbag humans, but he has to admit he is curious about this girl who apparently can manipulate rocks and metal to her every whim. Suffice it to say that something like that could come in -very- handy some day.

So within a matter of minutes after Toph had requested his presence at the Ring of Philosophy, the speedster is there, searching for this uh...little human girl.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Surprise! Turns out the tiny little girl isn't quite there yet. So the speedy Autobot is left to wait for a few minutes before /finally/ somebody arrives. And man is she tiny.
The girl who arrives is barely five feet tall, and she's clad in a limegreen shirt with tan shorts to go with. Strangely enough she doesn't seem to be wearing shoes, and some of her dark hair is hanging down into her face. But as she walks over towards the large mechanical being, she can't help but look a bit surprised. "Man..." Toph blinks, though she doesn't crane her head back. Instead she walks right up to Blurr, her arms crossed across her chest as she considers the large size of this new person to the Union. "I didn't know you were /that/ big!" Then again, she hasn't met any Autobots or Decepticons before.
Either way, she offers a bright and sincere smile. "Toph Beifong! Pleased to meet you!"

Blurr has posed:
Blurr had expected her to small, but suffice it to say that the opposite is true on his end. She is -really-, really tiny, tiny even for a human and it actually takes him a moment to find her. He crouches down as far as he can comfortably go and peers at her.

And now that he's closer, Toph can feel just about every gear, circuit, piston, socket and what have you in his remarkably complex body. And given that she probably has a bit more acute hearing that most as well, she likely can also hear every movement he makes, too. "And -I- didn't know you were that um tiny I guess? Sorry that's not meant to be insult I'm just surprised I guess I mean you sounded young but Primus you're small even for a human."

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
When the Autobot crouches down, the blind girl cants her head slightly to the side, listening intently. Woah, this... is really something else, isn't it? When he comments on her small size she doesn't appear to be bothered, instead she smiles widely. "I'm still growing! And heh, I've heard far worse over the years back home," she reassures him, even as she reaches out with one small hand, placing it on his leg unless he pulls away.
"Are all of you Autobots this big?" Hey, it's a legit question! "Are there more of you in the Union for that matter? I haven't been able to keep track of all the new peeps lately." Damn lessons. Then again, it's not like she can get out of those easily without serious consequences, now is there?

Blurr has posed:
"Oh, that's right, most organics start small and then get bigger, I almost forgot." Blurr chuckles. He doesn't pull away at her hand on his leg, in fact he barely notices it. At her question, he shrugs thoughtfully. "Uhm...well, that's a very good question. Think about it this way, humans vary in size, right? Some are taller, some are wider so it's the same way with us except the size range is a lot bigger. Some of us are not much larger than a tall human, while some of us...are the size of a city. Like Metroplex, who's living on the lower level of this very station. I guess my height is kind of average, though."

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Organics, huh? Toph grins at that. "I doubt I'll become really tall though, since I'm still pretty sort," she says. But then again, you don't need to be big to kick ass, now do you? Of course not.
With her hand on his leg she could probably do something horrible if she wanted, but no. Toph Beifong is luckily not a sadistic person, and she is against killing and harming people needlessly. Add in the fact that she doesn't see why she shouldn't treat her mechanical friends the same as her organic friends. and you get a girl who considers them equal as long as they don't treat her in a way she disagrees with.
For now though she is busy with studying the intricate workings of his metallic body and how the metal inside him shifts. "Huh, there are bigger ones than you?" Where will they have room for them all?

Blurr has posed:
"Yep, certainly!" Blurr nods. "In fact, I'm sure you've seen Metroplex before. He's the giant Cybertronian city in the basement of this place." He says, referring to Autobot City. "You might not have seen him in action before, but he is one of us."

There's a pause, and he decides to just sit down with a *CLANK*. "So how did you come to be able to uh, control rocks? Is everyone from your planet like that?"

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
"Metro-who?" Toph blinks and asks with a confused look on her face. There's also another word she doesn't really agree with, but hey... let somebody else be a nitpicking ninny. "And I can't recall ever /seeing/ any of you in action, she adds and reaches a hand up to wave it in front of her face. Why yes, she does enjoy making fun of others if she can. Why should she let her blindness bother her when she gets along with them.
When he sits down Toph remains standing for now, though she looks a bit interested at the questions about benders. "Nah, not everybody can bend. Either you are born with it, or you're not. Bending is the ability to be able to enforce your will on the elements. Really handy when you're trying to get things done, really."

Blurr has posed:
"Metroplex. You might have heard him go by 'Autobot City'." Blurr clarifies. "You should come visit him sometime." The speedster watches her wave her hand in front of her face, and the joke just goes completely over his head as he simply stares blankly at her. "Well, yeah, I mean Metroplex hasn't used his assault modes for a while. Naturally it takes a tremendous amount of energy." No, he doesn't know how to tell when a human is blind, given that he doesn't actually know a whole lot about their anatomy.

"Oh, so it's genetic, then." He says when she explains that people were born with it. "Is it heritable, or does it matter if the parents can or not?"

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
"Nopes, doesn't ring a bell... sorry," Toph says. "And well, I guess visiting him couldn't hurt." Though she does seem to hesitate. Did... this large robot not get the joke? Really? Oh maaan. Toph sighs and blows some hair out of her face.
The question regarding parents and heritage does make her blink and halt for a moment, all before she almost reluctantly speaks up. "My parents aren't bender, but there have been benders in my family before. Sometimes it seems to skip a generation or two, it seems," Toph admits where she stands, pulling her hand back from Blurr as she manages to get a decent look at him. "So... how are you as quick as you say you are when you're so... big?" Hey, she can't help but ask.

Blurr has posed:
"Yeah, I'm no expert but I know rarer genes aren't always expressed...Anyway, Metroplex is basically like me except city-sized and not as agile. I would say 'not as fast', but that wouldn't exactly be accurate since he can technically move faster than me given that he can travel faster than light." Blurr chuckles. "-But- only in outer space."

Then he raises an optic ridge at her question. "I guess that's a fair question, and I don't know all the technical details but I will say this: if Metroplex can fly faster than the speed of light despite his colossal size with enough propulsion power then why couldn't -I- run faster than the speed of sound with the same, right? Our bodies require a lot more energy to keep running than yours do, which makes sense, given how much larger we are."

Blurr has posed:
"I guess the answer to your question is, just because something is big doesn't mean it can't move fast, it just requires more energy to do so. For example my home planet, Cybertron, is in orbit around Lambda Scorpii at a velocity in human measurements of about 90,000 kilometers per hour...which is pretty slagging fast, even though it's huge."

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
"Well duh! Of course everything needs energy to move at all!" Toph states, though she does listen and pay attention. Different lifeforms indeed. "I... was just wondering how the heck you fit into a car and all considering just how big you really are." The bind girl admits this with a slightly awkward shrug before she too flops down on her butt.

Blurr has posed:
"Mass displacement," is the simple answer to that question. "And some subspace shunting." Blurr explains further, though that probably means nothing to her. "Er, well anyway I could just -show- you." he grins.

Blurr has posed:
"Mass displacement," is the simple answer to that question. "And some subspace shunting." Blurr explains further, though that probably means nothing to her. "Er, well anyway I could just -show- you." he grins, and at this his body begins to fold in on itself and become more compact--the very thing he was just talking about: displacement of matter into pockets of subspace existing in parallel with this particular dimension of space. And when the transformation is complete, he has literally become smaller, in the form of a very high-tech looking hovercraft.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
"I have no clue whatsoever what those things are or how they work," Toph admits with a shrug before she reaches a hand up to... pick her nose. How dignified! When offered to be shown just what it's all about though, the blind girl seems to perk up. "Sure!" But when it happens, it doesn't seem like she expected that. Pale eyes widen in surprise where she sits, and even if she's not 'looking' at him in the conventional sense, her feet tell her just what's going on. And yes, she looks quite odd sitting there with her finger up her nose. Immediately she pushes herself up and heads on over to place her hand on him again, just to get another and better look at him. "How did you do that?!" she gasps. He changed his form?!

Blurr has posed:
Blurr chuckles. "With a lot of different processes. Like I said, mass displacement and subspace shunting." Oh, how to explain this. "Well, let's see um basically, there are other lower layers of space-time existing in parallel with this one. These outer layers are called subspace where the laws of physics that limit us here don't apply so by creating tiny portals from this dimension into that one we can shunt small amounts of matter into pockets of subspace for storage purposes or whatever and those portals can be reopened again at will to pull that matter back of out subspace and into this particular dimension whenever we need to got that?"

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Toph is more occupied with running her hand over the edge of Blurr's new form than really paying attention to his explanation of how he did it. For now her own seismic sense does tell her a few things. "To you that might have been a good explanation. All I heard was blab blah blabbety techno mumbo jumbo crap and something that you might as well try to explain to my supervising officer considering he's the genius around here," the blind girl admits, then grins. "So... how fast are you?" Care to show her? She's curious! And since he's metal, it should be really easy to keep up with his location.

Blurr has posed:
"It would be my pleasure." Blurr says with a grin in his voice. "So do you want to ride in me or do you want to just stand there and watch." Because she should -totally- ride in him, and hopefully, she won't be crushed by G-forces...

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
The offer makes Toph blink, then she makes a slight face and holds up her hands. "I thiiiink I'm going to stay here with my feet on the ground so I can actually 'see' what's going on. If I get sca-- surprised," she corrects herself, "I might do some bending and it might not be too good for you, Speedy."
Besides, it's bad enough with how quickly Tony drives, and after heading out to brunch with him earlier that day she's had enough crazy driving for one day. "You go ahead!"

Blurr has posed:
"Yeah...-maybe-." The speedster finds it hard to admit that he'd be vulnerable to her. Well he has issues admitting he's vulnerable to anyone. "But whatever fine then." Blurr laughs and takes off, zooming round and round the Ring hundreds of times even within the span of a few seconds. Yes, he is really that fast. Toph can probably feel the sonic booms rolling off of his body and shaking the ground under her feet.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Most of the people in the Union would have problems admitting they have their weaknesses. But at least there's one good thing about it... Toph would never consciously do anything to harm her metal allies. While she might be a fighter with an iron will, she is no sadist and would never use her metalbending to harm her allies.
When Blurr begins speeding though, she stands there in wide eyed wonder even as she feels the metal making its way around the ring. "Woah... Really?!" she blinks. Man, is she glad she refused to join him for the joyride. Because seriously... otherwise she would be feeling pretty sick now, she guesses. "Wait a moment, and I'll bend you some obstacles!" Toph offers as she heads on over to the wall display to change the settings. It's pretty easy enough to do so, changing the ground in the ring to solid earth.

Blurr has posed:
Yeah...she'd probably a pancake right now if she were inside, actually. Though if she had come, Blurr wouldn't have accelerated as quickly for her sake. And obstacles? Bring it! "Bring it on!" He calls out, because he definitely loves showing off, and this is his area of legendary expertise. After all he did spend his prewar life on the tracks basically, and then working as a courier after the tracks were destroyed has certainly improved his natural talents.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Since he accepts the challenge, Toph grins and enters a wide legged stance, reaching out with both hands, all before she punches twice out in succession. In response the earth in front of her shifts, raising a tall ramp. Running along a little, Toph kicks into the ground, raising a tall pillar with a half ring on it, clearly meant to be traversed by the ramp, and speaking of which, here's another ramp leading down from the jump. On and on Toph runs along a route, kicking the ground and gesturing with her arms here and there, raising several thick pillars meant to be slalomed. And then she even adds in a loop, stomping firmly into the ground before she brings her arms up... then to the side and around, changing the loop into a roll just to check what Blurr might be able to.
With that done she turns slightly towards him with a an eager grin plastered on her face. "You think you can finish this little course, Speedster?"

Blurr has posed:
Now one thing that made Blurr so legendary on the racetrack on Cybertron was likely the fact that the speed of his movements wasn't the only speed that was so incredible. He can think even faster than he can move, allowing him to process any new information at a staggering rate. That's why he never crashed around those tight turns and other obstacles, where others did. And that's also why he talks so fast and has to concentrate in order to slow his speech to a normal pace.

Thus, even as Toph's obstacle course is forming, he reaches the first ramp. Rear boosters engage and he zooms up the incline, catching air time on the way toward the first pillar and half-loop, which is gracefully executed and before we know it he's back in the air on his way to the down ramp. And while he's in the air, he transforms out of car form momentarily, twisting his body and reaching out to grab at the edge of the ramp so as to pull himself in and reach it even faster. His hands make purchase, his legs swinging upward and twisting around like a gymnast on the bars as he begins to transform again mid-somersault. He times it perfectly so that by the time he fully lands, the transformation back to car form has just completed.

Down the ramp he goes toward the other pillars, which are also perferctly manevured--he doesn't even touch them. "Haha! Is this all you've got, Toph Beifong?" he laughs, teasing. "Come on, this is like the newbie track!"

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Huh, he really is a quick thinker! Toph grins at the obvious challenge, and who is she to step down from a challenge? It simply can't be done! So the little blind girl leaps forward and does a sideways wave of her arms, raising a large curved wall, then punches out with splayed fingers, and in response several large holes form in the wall, making traversing it a far more challenging task. Immediately after she erects another ramp, followed by five wide and tall walls between even more ramps. The notable thing is that the walls each have a hole in them, holes just barely large enough for Blurr to pass through. Let's see how precise he can be in traversing these! After the last wall there is a ramp, though this one doesn't lead down. Toph reaches up towards the sky as she raises a very thin and curvy driveway, and she continues bending earth up from the ground on pillars, kicking into the ground and shaping the driveway with her arms. The driveway itself goes this and that way, with tight turns as it goes up, down and under.

Blurr has posed:
Blurr drives up on the curved wall almost immediately after it has formed, and just after that the holes appear. "Whoa!" Didn't see that one coming! But come on, he's a Transformer, and what do Transformers do, well they -change-. They adapt. He slows down just a tad before coming to the first hole, again transforming back to his biped form and leaping over it. He speeds up again, either dodging or jumping over the holes in the wall. With that obstacle behind him, he continues toward the ramp zooming up it and then right back down. And then there are more walls with holes in them; this time much smaller! He just charges toward them, and then transforms at the last possible second, folding in on himself and slipping through in his more compact vehicle form. "Now that's more like it!" Yeah, he's definitely enjoying himself.

Finally there's one more ramp, and that one....just doesn't stop? Well Primus this is going to be interesting. Here is where his quick thinking works to his advantage as it always has, and he makes ample use of both forms, jumping and swerving to do his best to keep in sync with the ever-changing track.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Now if this isn't a fun way to practice her bending, then Toph has no idea what is. As Blurr shows that he enjoys the course she's making for him, the blind girl keeps on bending, working non stop to raise various ramps, obstacles and various things for him to utilize to keep his speed up, whether it be pillars, edges and minor tunnels. Small as she is Toph is light on her feet, keeping this up for a good while. But after about half an hour of non stop bending the little earthbender is clearly worn out. Sweat coats her forehead, making her hair stick to her forehead, and with a groan she flops down on her butt before she allows herself to fall onto her back. "Gaaah, enough!" She needs some rest, she is only human! This was one hell of a workout session, that's for sure. Closing her eyes Toph focuses on breathing. "Damnit now I'm hungry again..." Oh well, at least it was well spent, especially if Blurr had fun, right? She certainly had fun doing her best to keep up with his speed!

Blurr has posed:
For a time Blurr keeps up with the ever-changing track no problem, but after a while, he too starts to run short on booster fuel, and ends up getting scraped several times. He has been in some stamina races, but most of his racing experience is with agility challenges like this one. Still, Cybertronians tend to have a bit more stamina than humans, and he certainly has run sensitive intel across great distances.

Once the bending has stopped, he's again in a flash sitting on the ground next to her. "Alright I'll admit it that was a good workout but honestly it was a thousand times better than the simulator on the Ark-32! Or at Metroplex."

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Even as Blurr transforms back, Toph doesn't move off of the ground, lying there with her eyes closed as she focuses on breathing. "Well, of course it was better. The earth here might be simulated, but you got the greatest earthbender in the multiverse to bend it for you," she snorts. "It kinda made me having to think and act quickly too, good training for a fight. That's the good thing with the Union, you learn how to handle new situations..." Then her tone goes serious. "You still need to race Rainbow Dash though, she's the fastest flying pony there is." Not that Toph has seen it herself, but Rainbow was not lying when she said that.
Finally Toph lets out a grunt and sits up again, wriggling her toes a bit before she gets back on her feet. "I should probably head back on home before my supervising officer wonders where I headed off to. But I'm totally up for some more bending and racing like this another time!" she beams.

Blurr has posed:
"Yeah, yeah I keep hearing about how I should race this 'Dash' person." Blurr chuckles, waving a dismissive hand. "I guess I'll have to...wait, 'pony'? What is that, exactly?" He doesn't pay very much attention human stuff. "Well whatever, if she can only move that fast in the air then I'm not sure if racing me would really prove anything."

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
"Oh, you don't know what a pony is?" Toph blinks, a curious look on her face as she gestures to the ground next to her. "She looks like this." An earthen shape takes form as a life sized version of Rainbow Dash, and Toph then points to it. "Real size. And she's really really /really/ fast. And as confident as me," Toph grins, turning her face a bit more towards Blurr. "Don't underestimate her."
Oh well. Toph stretches, then reaches out and punches Blurr lightly in the leg. "Thanks for the fun, take care and catch you on the radio channels later. It was fun meeting you, Speedster!"

Blurr has posed:
Blurr glances down at the rock statue of Dash. Then he smirks at Toph's description of her. Pfff, look at that form, there's no way anything shaped like -that- could beat him. How could anything with such poor aerodynamic construction move that fast, even in the air? There'd just be way too much friction going on. "Sure, sure whatever you say heh...good to meet you too Toph. We'll have to train together again sometime."
