Capture Points work a great deal like Target Zones do in MCM. These are locations that can be fought over by different factions within Eorzea. Those of the Confederacy will be representing the Garlean Empire, those of the Union will be representing the Alliance, and those of the unaffiliated/syndicate can either choose to represent the Garlean Empire, the Alliance, or themselves.

For unlike Target Zones, those who are without the major powers, could control it for their group. Giving them power over an area, after all, Pirates sometimes do this even with Limsa Lominsa staring right at them-- including even the Beast Men.

Battling Over A Location

The locations will be marked that they are a Capture Point -- This done with a <CP>. If It has a <CP>, then it is up to be captured by a factional group.

The first most important rule of Capturing a Point is much like a risk game. All factions have starter areas, the areas next to them will be Capture Points and they spread out from these points. You must take an area that is connected to an area that your faction already controls, you can not simply jump into the middle of a capture point that is between two Eorzean Capture Points, if there is no Garlean Capture point next to it.

This however is not true /if/ the area shows that it is uncontested. If it is uncontested, a group can jump to it to create a new starting point in that area. Though other parts of the rules still apply even here. Continue reading to see below.

The number battling for these capture points must be even. So there must be an equal amount of union to confederate members (or those representing as, so if union is short one, someone in Unaffiliated can fill in that spot for the union). This rule also in effect for Unaffiliated as well, if they desire to go out and capture points for themselves.

Bossing is not allowed for a Capture Point (Though this may change in the future), but if a union member takes down their target, they can go after another confederate member, so long as they are given the OK to do so. If they don't get the OK, they need to wait until there fellow union member is taken down, then they can go after that confederate member-- unless that confederate member decides to retreat.

In the end, only one faction or another should be left standing. Who ever /is/ left standing, is the winner of the location.

It is also important to remember to use the scene-csys for these battles and they should be marked in the title "CP:", so as an example: CP: Lets Bring It On

After The Battle

Once the battle has been concluded, the person who either started the scene or someone in the scene needs to then make a pose (or in their final pose), declaring who won the battle. This needs to be obvious and very clear, be it like -- END RESULT - <Capture Point Name>: Union Victory! -- or -- Union Wins The Battle Over <Capture Point Name>! -- it needs to be easy to find at the end of the scene.

It is also very important you list the capture point's location as the scene csys (I don't think), will pick up on the virtual room's full title.

The other thing that needs to be done is to send me, Gaius, an @mail informing me that a CP has been concluded and either you can give me the link to the wiki page (if you put it up) or give me the title of the scene, so I can look it up on the scene-csys. At which case if you can't get it on the wiki due to lack of account, then I will be fine with doing that for you, as I will, as soon as I get the notification, change the area to represent the faction who won it.

Territory Claims Timer

People will want to fight over territory rather often and Eorzea has a great deal to offer. When their world came crashing down into the Multiverse, the entire world merged with the Northern Sea of the multiverse. So because there is a great deal of land to challenge over and cause it takes time to get ones area setup. The next reclaim for that location is on a weekly timer.

Once that timer is up, that area can be fought over again to see if either someone can take it back or someone can keep the location under their belt.

It is also important to note here for those of the Unaffiliated/syndicate, do have locations that can branch from, but they as group, though separate, are working together to do so. This is done by represent the factional group that owns that Unaffiliated segment of land.

Capture Point Rule Summary

Here is the TL;DR version - Last Updated on: 8/21/14

  • All Factions must have even numbers (1v1, 2v2, 3v3 -- 1v1v1, 2v2v2, etc)
  • Unaffiliated can, if they want, fill in a role for a Confederate spot or Union spot to even out the numbers.
  • Like Risk, you must move out from your factions capture point location to the adjacent tile.
    • You CAN NOT move from your factions capture point to the middle of enemy territory.
    • You CAN move into an uncontested zone that is not adjacent to your faction to create a new branching point.
  • No Bossing allowed (Though this rule may change)
  • You must defeat your opponent in order for it to count toward your sides victory.
    • Ex: 2v2 - Battle starts with both sides having 0, you are a Garlean and you defeat an Eorzean, you get 1 victory. Your team-mate must now win.
      • DO NOT jump into someone elses' battle.
      • If there is a even number of points after the fighting is done. The area goes Uncontested
  • If a fight goes to long between two individuals, they may use tag to decide who is victor.
    • Or they may agree to draw.
      • If they agree to draw, the one running the scene must look at the point tally and decide who is the victor, unless it comes out even, then the area goes uncontested.
  • Scene Csys is required to be used.
    • Scenes need to be marked with CP: at the start of the title.
    • I would suggest you use the +scenes/add to make a date for a CP battle, so everyone is aware that one will be happening, including myself (Gaius Van Baelsar).
  • Once the battle is over, someone, probably the starter of the scene, needs to clearly mark who was victorious and the area it took place in.
    • Then they need to contact Gaius by @mail with the notice that a Capture point happened, the scene title and/or ID#, so the grid can be updated and along with the wiki page.
      • And uploaded if it has not been done.
  • An area that has been captured has a week cool down timer.
    • An area that has not been captured can be battled over whenever.
