Healing the Colonel
Date of Scene: 27 June 2014
Location: The Citadel - Medical
Synopsis: Recovery/treatment roleplay for Serori's WMAT injuries.
Cast of Characters: 22, 37

Medusa Gorgon (22) has posed:
Losses happen, and well... it's part of life. So is pain, as well as healing. After Ragna had helped get Serori back to the Citadel, it had been a busy night in medical. The Saiyan had been put in a tank for speedier healing, and Medusa herself had overseen the process, adding in some of her unique concontions for the sake of aiding Serori's recovery. This morning, she woman looks far better. If you ignore the bruises, that is. She is a sturdy woman after all, and perhaps that is why Medusa is so fond of treating her. Or perhaps it is because she makes it so fun.
For now Medusa is busy adjusting some of the IV bags that is on the stand next to Serori's bed. "Make sure the cooks are prepared, she will wake up soon," she informs the nurse next to her. The woman nods quickly, finishes changing the bandage on the Saiyan's leg before she heads out of the room with urgency.
Once the IV bags are dripping in the correct pace, the witch then prepares a wash basin and starts washing Serori's face carefully, minding the cuts.

Serori (37) has posed:
Maybe one of Medusa's monitors gives the educated nurse a heads-up that Serori's becoming conscious, but to anyone unable to translate the monitor's beeping, Serori's transition to wakefulness seems sudden. The saiyan's eyes snap open, wide and red. Her jaw clenches. Her nostrils flare around a swift, sucked-in breath. For an instant, she's rigid and tight-fisted and confused.

The confusion passes in a flash, but the only relaxation she enjoys afterward is around the eyes. Her lids sag wearily together, leaving her bloodshot eyes a dark, narrow gleam. Nothing else uncoils, least of all her fists.
Serori is angry.

It's not her usual kind of anger. She's not gone all ranting spitfire, no -- she's quiet. Probably /too/ quiet. The anger she feels, it's a deep, smoldering anger reflected in her glare and the tension in her muscles, but denied any other expression. She doesn't complain about Medusa's work or snap whenever something hurts, just lays there staring at the ceiling, a mute and unflinching force of contained rage.

It's been a long time since she's been /this/ angry.

"How long was I out," she murmurs. Her voice is low and rough.

Medusa Gorgon (22) has posed:
Sometimes it's far easier to notice things outside of the monitors. The minor things like breathing, for instance. Slight movements... but the monitors do help. As Serori starts to wake up Medusa halts in washing her face and pulls her hand back, merely watching the woman's face as her eyes snap open. In contrast Medusa is calm, giving Serori a moment to wake up and not be encouraged to lash out at her.
Give her a moment.
Only once she is certain that she isn't going to have to hurt her patient in order to keep her still does the witch continue, still smiling softly as she resumes washing her face. At the question she ponders it. "Oh, I'd say about 12 hours, Colonel," she responds calmly. "Too bad, it was an interesting fight. But you have healed up a fair bit since last night. I have requested several portions of food for you, I doubt the IV nourishment is enough for you...?" Amusement lingers in her eyes as she watches Serori.

Serori (37) has posed:
"No...it's not. I'm starving."

Understanding of her body gradually permeates Serori's fury. The tightness in her fists is the first thing to be tested: one by one, she straightens out her fingers, feeling for breaks, discomfort, and lack of dexterity. Her hands are stiff and slow. They are flexed, her fingers spread out wide. It's hard to do; the difficulty provokes a faint growl.

At least she can wiggle all her toes.

Ankles, knees, tendons, calves, thighs, glutes -- she works her way up from her toes, fidgeting, flexing, and testing what she can without disturbing Medusa or moving too far. She ignores the hollow feeling in her gut and the scorched sense of her prideful spirit, but does take a few deep breaths to try her lungs and diaphragm. Her collarbone region throbs when she tries to roll her shoulders -- "Ah!" There. The first real flinch.

"Geh...what happened?"

Medusa Gorgon (22) has posed:
"Of course she is starving. Medusa smiles warmly and dares pat Serori on the cheek in a motherly fashion. "Of course. It's only so much IV nourishment that these needles can handle. But imagine how worse it would be without it, hm?" Still, food is important. And it will allow Serori to heal faster. Lots of vitamins and proteins. Meat, in other words. Vitamins can be given IV.
As the colonel tests her body, Medusa allows her. As for what happened? "The short version is that you lost, dear. That's all you need to concern yourself with at the moment. Now... your hands." Medusa dips the wash cloth in the basin on the night stand before she reaches out for Serori's wrist and carefully begins cleaning her hands. After all, they need to be clean if she is going to eat.
"Do you require more painkillers? Those fractures are rather bad, but if you want..." Medusa's eyes take on serpentine pupils as she watches her superior. "I can help set them and support them for quicker healing."
Perhaps Serori has heard about some of the treatment that Medusa has started giving the Confederates after they learned about her true nature, when there was no need to hide her skills behind a tender and gentle facade.

Serori (37) has posed:
"I /lost/..." The weight of it hits her hard again, like a suckerpunch to the kidneys. Serori pulls in another sharp breath and shoots her glare sidelong before Medusa can see how much the confirmation /hurts/. It's a huge blow to her pride to lose to Taylita like that. It wasn't just a loss, either -- it was a trouncing. At no point in the fight did Serori have the advantage.

Maybe she /should/ have transformed -- but that just would have proved how much Serori needs the crutch, right? She'd needed to beat Taylita fair and square...and she couldn't. She didn't even come /close/.

"Do whatever you have to. I'm not going to stay here all day. I need to get back to training." Serori's voice is in that tight monotone again, more clenched than her fists. "Painkillers would help, but do whatever else you want, too. Just get me back on my feet."

Medusa Gorgon (22) has posed:
Oh, losses happen every day," Medusa reassures Serori while still smiling softly. Don't take it so hard. "You get used to it after a few centuries, dear."
She expected as much, knowing Serori isn't the type to want to remain in medical a second longer than she has to. Not so strange, after all. So Medusa chuckles slightly, washing up Serori's fingers first before she sets aside the wash cloth in the basin of water. "I do think you will need some additional painkillers for this." Which the witch seems to have already prepared, as she pulls a syringe with something red in it out of the pocket of her medical coat. She finds one of the IV lines easily enough, easily uncapping the needle of the syringe before she slowly and carefully injects the medication. Immediately there should be a sense of relief wash over Serori, perhaps even making her a little bit sleepy. Whatever it is, it strong stuff. "It won't last long, don't worry. But it will make it easier for you to cooperate while I reset your bones and stabilize them for healing," Medusa informs Serori.
Then she pulls up the sleeves of her coat. "Something similar like this worked for miss Eclipse, and you are not a mere human. So this should work even better for you."
She pulls up the covers to reveal Serori's legs... which clearly could be be in a better state. Would Serori even want to know what they were like before she went in the tank? "Your left leg didn't heal properly in the tank. If it's not broken up and reset, then it will hurt far worse later." And we can't have that, no! Medusa leans over, one hand gripping behind Serori's knee, and the other right above her ankle. The look she gives her should be anything but reassuring. "Ready~?"

Serori (37) has posed:
The drug brings on the kind of helpless relaxation Serori finds a little alarming. All control is taken away, and it's not a feeling she likes. For a moment, she's grasping at her sheets, fingers digging in while she tries to adjust and accept. Any trust she has in Medusa is forgotten until Serori reminds herself many times not to be intimidated. It's another challenge to get through, that's all. Another hurdle. "A-ah..."

The pain becomes a dim flicker in the distance. Serori tries to grasp it, to experience again, and she can't. She can hardly detect the pressure put on her leg by Medusa's hand, and she's certainly not cognizant enough to recognize the nurse's smile as anything other than friendly and reassuring.

Serori nods, and braces herself. "Do it." Only some part of her still knows what it's like to be anxious, and that part tumbles around in her dizzy head without taking root.

Medusa Gorgon (22) has posed:
It's brief, luckily. And while the motion of Medusa's hands is quick and rough, it does appear that the woman knows what she's doing as she pulls on the leg, breaking up the still healing bones in her shin. But even with the painkillers, the sensation is still there, and Medusa doesn't seem bothered by what she is doing.
Afterwards, she doesn't let go of Serori's leg, though she does watch the Saiyan to see how she is doing. "That's the worst part. Though I can't promise that this will be pleasant either," she states and undos some of the bandages. They do need to be changed anyway as they are getting slightly bloodied, so why not? Medusa moves her hands over the cuts there... and then slips a few fingers into the wounds. Even if the witch keeps her fingers still, Serori should still be able to feel something move and wriggle there... and is that movement underneath the skin on Medusa's arms and hands? It does begin to hurt slightly, but luckily the painkillers are able to drown out most of this, making it less painful, but still rather unpleasant. "I'd say you be out of medical in a few hours at this rate... provided the cooks can prepare enough food for you, colonel~"

Serori (37) has posed:
/Pain/ is dulled. /Agony/ remains sharp, blinding, and stunning. Serori tenses where she lays to the point her spine arches and she has to lock her jaw shut to keep from letting out a howl. Furious determination returns to her expression as she holds her scream inside. Tears prick at her glaring eyes, and paleness comes over her face. It hurts. It hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it --

Relief makes her wilt. All the suffering fades. Collapsing into her mattress, she pants hard, eyes closed.

That's when the /wriggling/ starts.

Serori's eyes snap open again, and she stares at the ceiling once more, resolutely refusing to look down and examine what the hell it is Medusa's doing. It feels strange, and it definitely makes that distant, isolated pain come a lot closer. She can almost reach out and grab it, now. The drug doesn't seem so overwhelming anymore.

"Wh-what the hell is that -- " she manages, speaking through clenched teeth. All the fur on her tail is bristling.

Medusa Gorgon (22) has posed:
"I'm resetting and stabilizing the bones in your leg so it will grow properly once I apply the healing agent, dear. It will help you get better sooner and with less chances of your bones mending improperly. You wouldn't want to have to do this at a later time when you could be up and about, right~?" Medusa asks sweetly, her attention still on Serori's leg. The wriggling intensifies... and then there's the feeling of something that feels like electricity moving up Serori's leg, right by her bone. Just in case, Medusa tightens her grip. "Now... it should be feeling less painful now. Surely you can handle this, hmmm?"
It does take a few more minutes before Medusa pulls her bloodied hands back, smiling down at Serori as she wipes her hands clean on a nearby towel. "There we go! You are quite the cooperating patient, aren't you~? I can work on cleaning and bandaging your legs while you eat. You should stay in bed for one more hour and keep your legs still, and wait two hours before you put any weight on them. Your own regenerative abilities combined with medicine should be more than enough."
At that very moment, there's a knock on the door, and the nurse from before peeks carefully in. "Miss Medusa...? Ah, I brought some of the food as you requested..." And then she pulls a trolley in with her, as well as the smell of fresh food. Clearly Medusa has seen no need to order the low quality food for Serori, and why should she? The lady appreciates a good meal or ten. And there are several plates there, all filled to the brim with primarily meat and proteins.
"Ah, thank you. Serve the colonel while I adjust her meds. If she wants more, give her as much food as she requires. As usual. The medication requires she gets enough nourishment to mend," Medusa informs the poor girl before she stands up and changes the drip rate on one of the IV bags, then gets some syringes from a nearby tray. "If she requires more painkillers, give her 50 ml of lot 26c, 4 doses an hour if respiration frequency is over 15. Now..."
Medusa offers a smile to Serori. "I have to tend to some other patients, but if you call for me I will come. I wish you a pleasant meal~" The witch watches the Saiyan with those snakelike eyes, and then she heads out of the door into the ward.
