Cast of Characters: Kotone Yamakawa, 635

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
It was after the rush of Christmas and the local Boxing Day, and Kotone had been lurking on another contient for most of it. It's a huge city of towering building and it's long after the sun has set, though it does set pretty early by local standards at this time a hear Kotone's dressed for the winter from the looks of her and she's waiting infront of a hot foot vendor in the cayon of steel, glass and concreet.

Quentyn Westwind (635) has posed:
Quentyn's out and about, trying to find his way in this new place with-- as ever-- his notebook in hand. And a certain pair of new boots Kotone might recognize on his feet. He's cautiously shy of the locals, but mostly his eyes are on the landscape... perhaps contrasting the city to those of his homeland.

When the white mage spots Kotone his expression lifts and, giving a quick wave, he makes his way over to her. As usual, the taciturn boy greets with a smile rather than words.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
A lot of the people where give off mist as their breath freezes on the way out of their bodies, though there's a notable number who don't like kotone. She grins a little bit and has a pair of hotdogs in hand as she sees him arriving.

"Hey Quetyn, glad you could make it and here this should warm you up."

She passes him the dog and moves to start eating her own for a moment. She pauses between bites noting.

"So there were a few things I wanted to show you, that I think you might enjoy."

Quentyn Westwind (635) has posed:
Quentyn, a Shivan by birthplace if not by genetics, doesn't seem *that* bothered by the cold, and he's dressed warmly... but nonetheless does appreciate the warm food. He slips the notebook away for now, looking at the hotdog curiously. Not curiously enough that he probably hasn't seen something like it but, once more, comparing to his own worlds version.

"Thanks. Um. What kind of things?" Quentyn asks curiously... it looks like his hands are already itching to get the notebook out again.

He smiles his thanks to Kotone for the dog and then takes a cautiously experimental bite.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa says "Fun bit it's not made out of dog, thankfully. Normally pork, beef or sometimes chicken. These are prok if your wondering, Dogs are generally companion animals in most of the world."

She starts walking a little bit as she comments between bites.

"Wanted to show you some of the city and later a view from one of the taller buildings that's got a public access to the roof."

Quentyn Westwind (635) has posed:
Chew. Chew. Swallow. Quentyn seems to like it? "Tastes a little like aldgoat," he grins. The plan, as Kotone lays it out, gets a thumbs up from the student's free hand and he eagerly follows. Ever the explorer. "And, um..."

It's a little trouble with one hand holding the food item but, once more with his free hand, Quentyn rummages around his bag and fishes out a small box, just big enough to be slightly awkward in one hand. "Um, I know it's a little late for the official holiday but..." The white mage offers it tentatively to Kotone. It's not gift-wrapped or anything... just plain, thin cardboard that probably won't last.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa polishes off the last of her hotdog after a moment as she listen and humms after a moment, she wans't expecting this as sh reahes out to take the box from Quentyn and moves to carefully open the box to see just what's inside.

"Thank you!"

Quentyn Westwind (635) has posed:
Galianda is still pretty new to the multiverse... but that doesn't mean the most enterprising entrepreneurs haven't started to take advantage already, some simply by setting up stalls of existing touristy souvenirs and other such things near the warpgate. If Kotone were to visit these, she might see what she finds in the box now: A small souvenir in the form of a plastic chocobo. It's probably not worth much. On the other hand, students as a whole aren't known for being wealthy.

"Welcome," Quentyn answers with a quick smile. He, too, works on finishing the last of his hotdog, using that to mostly mask his apprehension while he waits to see how the little thing is received.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa does not seem to care she takes a look at the small chocobo and grins, she liked the look of it and takes care to pict it in apocket.

"This thing's adorable, I'll put it by my terminal at home."

Well she has a flat out desktop but that's how slang gos these days as she moves about the fialry high tech city, there's lights, busy people and zome clear robots here and there...

Quentyn Westwind (635) has posed:
Quentyn lets out a small breath, visible in the cold air, and flashes a small grin. Maybe this Christmas thing isn't so hard afterall. But from here Quentyn just quietly follows, sticking his hands in his pockets and looking at the peoples and places around (but never at anyone that might make eye contact).

From time to time his eyes do alight on those without breath, but never for especially long. "Um... where are we going first?" Quentyn asks curiously and pushes up his glasses a little.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Quentyn might noice, here and there something odd a large number of the people about here whom neks might be xposed would have a cruious thing faint plug outlines much like Kotones but no one seems to think there's anything odd with it from the looks of thing.

"Well got some food in you I was planning to head towards the harbour as that's there our destination is, there's a few old bits of art going back a good deal too like one from the old Olympics."

Quentyn Westwind (635) has posed:
Quentyn doesn't seem to particularly notice that feature of the people around him. Or maybe he does but he's just beyond surprise. He nods to Kotone as he follows. "...Olympics? Was that an artistic era?"

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa says "No its an international sporting event. I say the old given how common prosethics are now the Para Olympics are nore the primary sporting event the old one is just held out of tradtion mostly for those who are not agumented I guess."

Quentyn Westwind (635) has posed:
"Oh," Quentyn murmurs, boots falling softly on the ground. "Like the dungeon crawling leagues..." After a moment he does reach into his bag again. He pulls out the notebook and opens it, probably to start taking notes and catch up on what's been missed so far. He taps a pencil against his chin. "But it's the kind of sport where prosthetics are an advantage?"

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa Says "Kinda but just what are the dungeon crawling leagues?"

She asks for a moment and watches him taking notes and she tilts her head.

"They get into everything really, even older sports that predate the technology. Heck the actual orginal one dates back thousands of years, it was only started back up about a hundred years ago or so."

Quentyn Westwind (635) has posed:
"Oh, more than one?" Chintap with the pencil again, "Um, maybe not like X-Crawl and those kinds of things then. Um. It's where professional teams try to competitively clear dungeons but um, it's kind of fake, you know? Like... They know what to face, they just try to optimize to get the best times and scores. Not like exploring a new place..." Quentyn nods.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa Says "Like what do they use similated traps and other hazards?"

She pauses for a moment peering.

"That might get called looting or tomb raiding then again ruins like that don't exist here save in the movies. Well there's Oak Island but ... someone realy wanted to leave things burried there."

She moves down the street and one can see the habour now a massive expans of water and a number of large ships are visable in the night as she makes for a very tall and brightly lit building.

Quentyn Westwind (635) has posed:
"Um... what do you mean by simulated? They're not like old ruins but they could really hurt someone that doesn't know what they're doing..." The student actually grins at the mention of looting (apparently it doesn't have the negative connotation), "Yah, um, there has to be looting for it to be a real dungeon run."

Quentyn pushes up his glasses a little as they press on, first taking in the ships but trying to get a good look at the building.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa says "I mean something to similate what would be otherwise lethal traps and dangerous wildlife?"

She looks at Quetyn.

"I'd suggest being careful things like the ruins in Tokyo are one thing other older sites? Will get you in ten tons of legal trouble as we tend to be far more methlodial about going over ruinbs if that makes anysense? Then again our world doesn't have the level of hostile wildlife yours does."

The building is very tall and Kotone guides him to follow her, they'd arrive at a lift, she'd pass her phone over something and they'd be able to get inside.

Quentyn Westwind (635) has posed:
"Um..." Quentyn reaches a hand back into his hood to scratch the back of his head, "It's actually dangerous..." He follows Kotone into the elevator and watches the interactions of technology, quiet but curious. Doesn't look like phones as access cards is a particularly alien concept to the boy, but he does take a few more notes.

"Um, legal trouble?" His eyes stare off thoughtfully for a moment, though he looks a little disappointed at the prospect of not returning. "You mean like, I need to complete a qualification before I can go to places like that?"

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa says "Well yes archology requires some pretty heavy training and there's so many sub schools of it depending on culture and time period. What you think of going over a ruin is likely just ... umm fiction here. There's a pretty good serious of old movies about such, that would be worth a watch."

As the lift gowes up it's clear they are going up pretty high and they actually have a view of the city below as they rise up.

Quentyn Westwind (635) has posed:
Quentyn doesn't look like he's exactly following what Kotone says (in fact his expression all but says 'the multiverse is weird'), but he hesitantly nods anyway. As the lift rises, Quentyn's attention is drawn away from the conversation and to the window. He steps over to it, all but pressing against the glass.

"This looks pretty neat," he grins, "Like um, what I've heard Ramuh is like when the weather clears..." The white mage just drinks it in for a few moments, lights below reflected faintly in his lenses, then he swings up his notebook and quickly strokes out a few sketches. But even then his eyes stay on the cityscape more than the paper.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa pauses "The weather doesn't clear much there I Take it?"

She watrches as they rise to the roof it self, Kotone would get off the lift and head out, it's clear this place is intended for such there's pay binoculars. She gestures with one hand.

"This is Vancouver at night, it's quite a sight I thought you might enjoy getting to see this."

Quentyn Westwind (635) has posed:
"One or two days a year," Quentyn confirms with a nod... and from the way he rushes to the edge, grinning, it looks like Kotone was right!
