Synopsis: Closing ceremonies for the 2014 World Martial Arts Tournament.
Thanks to: Yuri Stinson, for co-hosting, and to everyone else who came out to roleplay!
Cast of Characters: 2, 32, Arthur Lowell, 37, 56, 60, 95, 103, 106, 123, 140, 154, 177, 186, 188, 219, 238, Mister Satan (TP) (Dropped), 343, 369, 381, 385, Reina Kinney, 441, 545

Mister Satan (TP) (Dropped) has posed:
The World Tournament Stadium is once more the hotbed of excitement! Vendors prowl the stands packed to standing room only, camera crews on board helicopters buzz around like hornets, fireworks occasionally pop up from either the arena or the surrounding area, and everyone present looks to be having the time of their lives. Sure, there's a bittersweet undercurrent to it all -- these Earthlings really do love their competitions, and they're sad to see their biggest and most magnificent tourney come to an end -- but it's pretty hard not to get caught up in the fun-loving atmosphere. And if you're having trouble, there's plenty of social lubrication flowing from taps, bottles, and cans for you to enjoy.

Music is blasting from the loudspeakers in its usual jaunty rhythm. Highlights from the tournament play on the big screen, as in the lower right-hand corner, a timer's counting down to zero. Fifteen minutes to go. Twelve minutes. Eight. Five. Two. One. Then, it's only seconds before the closing ceremonies are scheduled to begin, and the lights all around are beginning to go dark, leaving only a single stage-focused spotlight to illuminate the arena's floor.

Which is repaired again, by the way. Miraculously.

The spotlight is waiting to receive a special guest.

Cecily (186) has posed:
The low hum of quiet synth starts in an electronic facsimile of a string instrument, a low female voice sounding out. The spotlight catches a glimpse of shining white, then shimmering black, Cecily stepping into it, three fluffy tails waving behind her. "There's a humming in the restless summer air... and we're slipping off the course that we prepared... But in all chaos, there is calculation..." A series of voices echoes with the next word, but it's not a processing effect, four more spotlights flicker on, a delta pattern of all five showing four more white-tailed kitsune, two with two tails, two with one tail. Backup singers.

"Dropping glasses just to hear them break..." The lead fox keeps vocalizing, eyes closed, "You've been drinking like the world was gonna end..." her sisters pick up with a harmonizing "It didn't." "Took a shiner from the fist of your best friend." "Go figure." A drum beat, one dull mixed with sharp reports, accompanies the vocals and the synth. "It's clear that someone's gotta go. We mean it but I promise we're not mean."

All five look up to the crowd, singing together, "And the cry goes out." "Haaa-aahaaa~" "They lose their minds for us." "And how it plays out." "Now we're in the ring and we're coming for blood."

The set of five vixens sing together, standing shoulder to shoulder, singing in harmony and backing each other up. "Oh~ oh~" "You could try and take us..." "Oh oh.." "But we're the gladiators." "Oh~! Oh~!" "Everyone a rager..." "Oh oh..." "But secretly they're saviors. Glory and gore go hand in hand. That's why we're making headlines." "Oh! Oh!" "You could try and take us..." "Oh~ Oh~" "But victory's contagious..."

Serori (37) has posed:
Serori is lurking around on the sidelines near the hall, not stuffing her face despite the opportunity to do so. She's got a baleful eye for anyone who approaches, and otherwise has a rather sullen look, like all the happiness in the stadium is a constant irritation. Some of it softens once she gets caught up in listening to Cecily's performance. Must be a put-on, at least in part.

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna is ... not in the audience. She's also not with the reporters. She's currently in the wings, or whatever passes for them, watching and listening as Cecily performs. Having backup singers like that must be pretty convenient ...

She might be JUST a little jealous, albeit only in a professional manner - and any envy is stifled by her enjoying Cecily's singing, even if the song is unfamiliar.

Leyanne Mace (154) has posed:
Leyanne Mace comes running in as fast as she can, still with her kitbag from her flight back from Mars. Her fur still stained by Martian dust. She finds herself a place to watch near Serori, just in time for the show to begin.
She grabs herself a drink, a hot-dog, and settles down to watch and listen.

Homura Akemi (2) has posed:
Homura is somewhere in the crowd; she probably had mild obligations to show up, just to not be rude. She's hardly going to stand out though, with her bland white dress shirt, formal black pants and really nothing else that stands out. No colorful outfits or dresses, just a half-casual look. Her hair tied into a side-tail by a bright red ribbon, she just kind of leans back and waits.

Text and images scroll on her glasses, which double as a smartphone as ever. Thanks Arthur, still getting mileage out of those.

Ryuko Matoi (140) has posed:
Another opportunity for free food and drink, with no need to pay for anything? Count Ryuko in. While she's not a charity case and Mrs. Mankanshoku's food could fuel just about anyone's appetite, she's not going to say no to variety. So, she's off stuffing her face, not really paying anyone else much mind. The food is her primary concern.

Sagat (95) has posed:
Having been a fighter in this year's tournament, Sagat is somewhere in the general vicinity of the other fighters in the stands. He didn't make it anywhere near the championship - and is still mildly annoyed about that, albeit mostly at himself - but he's being cordial enough to his fellow competitors. He also happens to have picked up an aisle seat, to try and cut down on blocking anyone else's view.

He does rise to his feet - coincidentally with somebody needing to get past him - and waves to one of the wandering vendors; a token amount of money changes hands, and Sagat settles back in with a ginger beer while the vendor heads down towards Serori.

Cecily (186) has posed:
It's back to the first, front fox, stepping forward past her sisters, tails swaying behind her as the rising music falls back to a backup drum line, "Delicate in every way but one..." The other four chime in, "The swordplay~" Without skipping a beat, the lead smiles, "God knows we like archaic kinds of fun..." and the rest: "The old way~" Another step forward, the leading Cecily clasps her hands and presses them to her chest, "Chance is the only game I play with," and all five as one, "Baby~" And her alone again as she gazes skyward: "We let our battles choose us..."

Her voice rises with the others, "And the cry goes out~" The four stepping forward, 'Haaa-aahaaa~' "They lose their minds for us~ And how it plays out~" 'Haaa-ahaa~' "Now we're in the ring and we're coming for blood..."

The five step back into formation, the series of five going back to back, able to 'address' the entirety of the crowd with their performance, ringing out loud and clear despite the soft, almost breathy way they sing. 'Oh~ oh~' "You could try and take us..." 'Oh oh..' "But we're the gladiators." 'Oh~! Oh~!' "Everyone a rager..." 'Oh oh...' "But secretly they're saviors. Glory and gore go hand in hand. That's why we're making headlines." 'Oh! Oh!' "You could try and take us..." 'Oh~ Oh~' "But victory's contagious..."

Beli Klum (238) has posed:
Beli, though she hasn't really been around for most of the tournament, decided that she should at least come for the closing ceremonies. After all, Cecily is opening everything up with some excellent singing! It wouldn't be right to miss it.

The angel-demon is hanging around on the sides, smiling and swaying a little as she watches the performance. She's quiet for the most part, though she looks over to people she recognizes and offers friendly smiles as they filter in. Serori, Yuna, Homura...quite a few people here, aren't there?

Courier Six (32) has posed:
Johnny, for his part, is up in one of the stands, with Arcade in tow. He got kocked out earlier than he'd been expecting by Setsuko, and, well, this year was a bit of a let down after being the champ last year. No matter. New Vegas got plenty of miliage again out of the sponsorship, the casinos were happy, Johnny was happy, everyone was happy.

"Johnathan, have you seen the crap they tried to sell me? I swear some of this is worse than the stuff we get at the 188 Slop and Shop. Gnnn." The Good Doctor has decided on a 'salad'. It has more dressing than veggies.
Johnny looks up and around at people he knows, and shakes his head over his bag of fresh chips. "Takes all kinds, Mr. Ganon."

Allan Bodily (123) has posed:
Allan and Neal are hiding in sidelines with some of the other fighters, and couldn't possibly look more opposite of each other. Allan, serious as always, clutchs Diplomacy in his hands carefully eyeing the other competerors and the stage while Neal sits back in the pilot's seat of the Living Legend, his feet propped up and a massive smile on covering his face.

Summer Powers (441) has posed:
Summer Powers is in the audience, watching the ceremonies, rather casually eating some popcorn as she does so.

Surrounding her are hordes of Consorts. Crocodiles, Iguanas, and Salamanders, mostly, sitting around, munching popcorn, and making nuisances of themselves.

Summer, for her part, is trying to be rather silent, and hiding the fact that she was the one who bought all of these consorts tickets.

Reina Kinney has posed:
Meanwhile, Reina Kinney is in the audience, watching and listening to the performance. Again, she didn't do too well, but just being a competitor in the tournament is more than enough for her. She sits comfortably, and a slight smile forms on her face while she watches this procession.

Ariel (219) has posed:
Ariel is actually very quiet now, fidgeting as she sits with anyone she knows. The unicorn girl is rather happy that the closing ceremonies mostly consist of parties and the like, though, and is starting to relax.

Cecily (186) has posed:
Again, the 'lead' fox steps out of formation, Cecily half speaking, half singing the words as the music behind her is reduced to a low hum with a beat. "No one 'round here's good at keeping their eyes closed. The sun's starting to light up when we're walking home..." Her backup lift their arms, a rising 'Aah~aaaah~' accompanying her verse. "TIred little laughs, gold lie promises: We'll always wi at this. I don't ever think about death. It's alright if you do, it's fine..." she trails off, another slow, soft rise from her matching set, 'Aaah..aaah~ah~aaah~' "We gladiate but I guess we're really fighting ourselves. Roughing up our minds so we're ready when the kill time comes." 'Oooh ooh oh~' "Wide awake in bed... words in my brain: Secretly you love this, do you even wanna go free?" The soft smile on her lips turns into a grin as she gazes up at the crowd, "Let me in the ring, I'll show you what that big word means."

Oh!' "You could try and take us..." 'Oh~ Oh~' "But victory's contagious..." The matching set of five foxes sing out together, the chorus and the thrum of drums and synth pounding through the speakers. When the last word trails off, all five drop to one knee, the song halting in an abrupt silence.

Then Cecily rises to her feet, cheeks rosy, and takes a deep bow before raising her arms, "Thank you, Papaya Island Stadium! Now that the closing ceremonies have officially begun... please allow me to happily introduce the Paragon of Manliness..." Another fox rises, "...a monument to fighting spirit..." A third, "A tribute to all warriors everywhere," a fourth, "the man with the greatest moustache in the multiverse.." the fifth rises, "the champion of champions!" Then all five of them call it out together, "MISTER SATAAAAAAN!" They get into formation and thrust their arms towards the edge of the ring where a spotlight zooms over towards where Mister Satan would presumably be arriving from.

Lila (545) has posed:
Lila is here! The young girl is suddenly plopping herself down next to Ariel, and saying loudly, "It's amazing! My mother won the championship! Now everyone can now how great you are, isn't that wonderful? Nya!" She leans over and grabs Ariel's arm, hugging it to her chest with an impish grin. It's hard to tell if she's being sincere in her adoration, or just trying to make the unicorn fidget.

The truth is, in fact, somewhere in between.

Arthur Lowell has posed:
Arthur is in the audience among the various reptiles and amphibians. He's eating popcorn. Summer Powers' popcorn, specifically. There's a bit of cheering for Cecily's performance, and then a lot of uproarous shouting for Mister Satan, who Arthur can get appropriately hype for.

Leyanne Mace (154) has posed:
Leyanne Mace throws the horns with her cybernetic hand as Mr. Satan's name is mentioned.

Mister Satan (TP) (Dropped) has posed:
Right on cue, THE CHAMPION arrives.

He's not his usual self, is he? Sure, he's got that confident twinkle in his eye and a huge smile for the crowd, but he's making his way to the stage on crutches. It doesn't stop the audience from going nuts in celebration over his arrival. His name rains down like sparks from the fireworks above -- "SATAAAAAAN! SA-TA-UHN! SA-TA-UHN!" -- and no few of his fan club are openly weeping at his appearance. "Our beloved champion!" they sob. And an entire section puts up a sign decrying the existence of giant crab monsters. "BAN CRABS!" the signs proclaim, with many of the attendees in this faction wearing top hats and monocles to further illustrate the target of their ire.

Mister Satan stops periodically to wave, and to flash his victory signs, and to salute the camera, but he's not racing and flipping and performing to his usual extent. Once he's on stage -- bowing over and kissing Cecily's hand, and praising her performance -- he looks more energized. Maybe he can't backflip for justice, but he can showboat with the best of 'em.

He sweeps up his own microphone in dramatic fashion, bringing it to his grinning mug. "WELLLLLLLLLLLLCOME TO THE FINAL DAY OF THE TWENTY-SEVENTH ANNUAL WORLD MARTIAL ARTS TOURNAMENT! WELCOME, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, TO THE CLOSING CEREMONIES!"

Mister Satan takes a moment to let the cheers die down before he continues. "THIS WAS CECILY PERFORMING FOR YOU TODAY! Wasn't she wonderful? What a beautiful talent! Thank you, Cecily, for your empowering song!"

Mister Satan claps for Cecily, and helps her off the stage before he continues to dominate everyone's attention again. "You know I would stand here in the spotlight all on my own, but there is another man who deserves to share the attention! You know him as your Master of Ceremonies; I know him as my friend and fellow righteous-hearted champion! I GIVE YOU THE ONE, THE ONLY, THE INIMITABLE, THE CHAMPION OF CHARM -- YUUUUUUUUURI STINSONNNNNNNNNNNNN!"

Cecily (186) has posed:
The kiss to the hand makes the kitsune blush, and Cecily and her 'sisters' give one last bow before Mister Satan helps them off stage. They all shuffle off to find and mob Beli and watch the rest of the ceremony!

Lute (188) has posed:
Mr. Crabs is actually standing behind the stands.

Lute is sitting on top of him.

Mr. Crabs sheds a single tear.

The bit of ground which the teardrop lands on is going to be temporarily poisonous to humans.

Yuri Stinson (106) has posed:
After being called on and cued in by Mister Satan, Yuri calmly walks out on stage, waving around a bit and holding a microphone in his hands, "Greetings everyone! I'm Yuri Stinson! You may remember me from last year's WMAT, and most famously for taking the closing ceremonies to propose to my now-fiance, FIA, the love of my life." He smiles a bit and looks out over the audience, "Sadly I don't have anything so theatric as that today, and I think she'd smack me one if I did it a second time!"

"So instead I wanna talk to you about Bracket A for a bit. And the champions from within it. Despite being considered the low-power bracket, it was still one that was packed with excitement, drama and amazing combatants." He pauses and then says, "The battle for thirdplace was a maelstrom of ability, with Zephyr Windstar facing off against The Chronicler in an air-ground sortie that shoot the Gizard Wastelands. A perfect storm of wind and lightning that culminated in a close-ranged brawl. When the dust, wind and debris had settled it was Zephyr Windstar as the third-place holder of Bracket A for this year."

"And then after that we had a championship match that had it all. Neither of our contestants were world-shatteringly powerful, but no one could deny their hearts. In the Stadium, Ariel and Vervi faced off against one another for the top-spot in the tournament," Yuri states in a hushed tone, looking around dramatically, "I was lucky enough to watch over this match myself as Ariel halted the battle midway in and stated she would rather concede than fight an opponent whose only thoughts were victory. These words reached the heart of Vervi, who came to the realization that it's not our destination, but our journey that we should take pride in. Their match resumed in a thunderous clash of soulful blows that saw both contestants on their very last legs, with Ariel just squeaking out a victory of Vervi for first place. Truly an epic clash."

"But there's more, and I'll let Mister Satan tell you about Bracket B."

FIA (60) has posed:
FIA, currently a blonde girl in about her early twenties, waves from the stands when she's mentioned. It's just a Secondary Avatar, but that means she's paying at least as much attention as anywhere else.

Ariah (56) has posed:
Ariah has managed to find a slushie vendor and is slurping a bright red substance from a cup through a straw. She nods as she listens to the proceedings, lingering off to the side in a standing room space. She's probably trying not to draw too much attention to herself.

Shizune Nakamura (369) has posed:
For the sake of brevity, both Shizune Nakamura and Satsuki Kiryuin are present, each in a location that befits them; Satsuki has a private box shared with the Elite Four (though invitation has been extended to the Confederates - and, oddly enough, Homura), whereas Shizune is down front-row center in one of the stands.

Gamagoori keeps staring at Mr. Crabs.

Mister Satan (TP) (Dropped) has posed:
Mister Satan bows to his fellow officiant, as much as he can. Crutches get in the way of that kind of thing. "It is always a pleasure to share the stage with you, Mister Stinson!"

As highlights begin to showcase the first bracket's final moments of INTENSE COMPETITION, he turns his attention to the big screen, like everyone else. What he sees leaves him a bit on the weepy side. His voice gone thick, he struggles for a moment to speak: "What a beautiful example of friendship! And prowess! And power! I am amazed by what these four young women showed us in the final match-ups of Bracket A. But we saw something incredible unfold in Bracket B, too!"

The screen changes, displaying a three-part image of Corvo Attano, Homura Akemi, and Ariah, each sporting an expression of determination. At least, it's assumed Corvo is determined. The way he's got his crossbow cocked sure is full of attitude, anyway! An explosion erupts in the background, and the images fade, cutting over to actual highlights of the match.

"It was Ariah who decided to bring Bracket B to a sudden and surprising end! Though she had a free pass to the finals and a guaranteed chance at second place, and a bigger prize, she decided to risk it all in favor of a three-way finish! With Corvo and Homura already in the ring, Ariah showed up, and threw out her challenge -- something Homura and Corvo were only too quick to accept!"

Mister Satan looks and sounds very proud. His chest puffs up. "This kind of honor and bravery exemplifies the spirit of the World Martial Arts Tournament! We salute you, Homura Akemi and Corvo Attano, and we salute you as well, Ariah, for bravely making your challenge! The conclusion could not have been more exciting!"

The screen shows images of Homura firing off sprays of bullets from anything that can fire 'em, while Corvo bamfs across the arena and either slashes with his sword or shoots his crossbow. Ariah counters with magical bolts and strikes from her staff, but soon the entire arena is engulfed in explosions generated from thrown grenades. "As you can see from these clips, the contest was fierce! All three contenders gave it their very best! But in the end..."

Ariah's defeat is the first to be shown -- she's taken out by Corvo's pommel-strike. "...Ariah, who had risked her prize, was the first to fall! She claimed the third place victory! But who would fall next, and who would emerge as champion?!"

Homura Akemi stands above Corvo Attano, her shotgun pressed to his chest. She fires; the scene fades. "Corvo Attano could not sustain the energy the battle required! Caught by Homura Akemi, he fell to a blast from her shotgun!"

"The World Martial Arts Tournament is pleased to announce Homura Akemi as the champion of Bracket B!"

Yuri Stinson (106) has posed:
"Bit of a fun fact about Homura Akemi, she is one of only three people in the Multiverse I have ever given a Soul Dog to. We'll find out the other two later." Yuri says to Mister Satan as the spotlight moves back to him.

"And last, but certainly not least, Bracket C." Yuri continues, pausing to wave at FIA when he spots her in the audience and give her a big smile. Then he's right back on point and announcing.

"In the dusty Diablo Desert, two duelists daringly did decide to debut! Cameron Baum and Procyana brought all their firepower to the orefront as they had a showdown under the blazing sun. It was a whirlwind of bullets and physicality that tested both competitors to their core. If that battle had gotten any more heated, it'd be called the Diablo Glass Plains." Yuri notes with a wag of his finger, "But at the end of the grueling onslaught, Cameron Baum just barely rose to the top, claiming third place."

"And another Championship round I presided over myself, the Yunzabit Heights were shaken to their very foundations by the final match that took place between Seikou Starks and Nanoha Takamachi." He looks around carefully, "Two fighters with dangerously identical power sets, they turned the frozen peaks into a lightshow of lights and lasers so powerful we temporarily lost Multiversal Transmission, but only for a few seconds. Both of them fiercely swapped attack after attack, pushing until they could no more. But, at the bottom of the ninth, it was Seikou who dug down into her last reserves and used what energy she had left to just shave out a victory for the second year in a row."

Rebecca Kismarin (343) has posed:
Rebecca is up in the stands, taking notes on a PDA, and perhaps looking up information on who the second place victors are. She taps the stylus on her chin and nods in approval as she observes the proceedings.

Takamachi Nanoha (381) has posed:
Anyone who can hear over the din of the applause and the like might catch the squeak of Nanoha's, "Ah... sorry!" She rubs her head with a nervous giggle from where she sits, looking pretty tiny next to Gamagoori. Because she's totally sitting with Satsuki.

Mister Satan (TP) (Dropped) has posed:
Mister Satan thumbs his chin and rumbles a serious and thoughtful sound into his microphone. "A champion claiming the title two years in a row...it would seem like Seikou Starks is the one to beat! If she returns a third year, those who face her will have plenty of reason to fight their very best! But do you really need more reason than the fabulous PRIZES we offer?!"

"Dahahaha, yes, PRIZES! What our contenders have been competing to win! The World Martial Arts Tournament is more than just a place where the greatest fighters come to compete -- it is a place where those whose lives have been dedicated to discipline and hard work finally have their efforts rewarded to the exorbitant level deserved! Thanks to the generosity of our own organization and our many corporate sponsors, this year, we've once again provided prizes worth every drop of blood, sweat, and tears you've shed over the years in your hard training!"

The screen starts raining money. The crowd cheers! Mister Satan nods his head a few times, solemn and proud. "I am pleased to announce the championship prizes for our Bracket A winners!"

The screen changes to show off the smiling face of Zephyr Windstar. "In third place, Zephyr Windstar! She takes home TWELVE MILLION CREDITS, and is also the winner of an all-expenses-paid vacation to Afterus, featuring accommodations at the Temple of Time and her own Derse Carpacian tour guide! She'll also have the chance to relax at New Vegas for an all-expenses-paid weekend retreat!"

Mister Satan waits for the crowd to settle before he moves on.

"In second place, Vervi! Vervi is the winner of FIFTEEN MILLION CREDITS, as well as an all-expenses-paid hunting excursion on planet Atlas! She'll have the rare opportunity to pilot her own HERC on that world! This comes courtesy UniTech Corporation, who is ready to play the generous host whenever Vervi is ready. Vervi also receives a full suite of customized Shinki armor and weaponry in the WMAT theme, a gift I bought for her myself." Mister Satan winks at the camera. Everywhere, women sigh out in appreciation, and many say 'awww, how sweet!'

"And in first place, our champion, Ariel! She's stolen our hearts, and we are pleased to welcome her to the stage now, where her prizes are waiting!"

Another spotlight shines down on the stage. A collection of beautiful women is there where you might swear there had been NOTHING just a moment ago. Three of them are toting an oversized check for TWENTY MILLION CREDITS, and several others are lifting up cards showing pictures of what other fabulous prizes have been won. One of them is carrying a sapling tree inside a basket.

"In addition to the grand prize of TWENTY MILLION CREDITS, Ariel is receiving a special and rare apple tree purported to produce bacon-flavored fruits! This rare and magnificent prize will grow as Ariel grows, producing its unusual fruit to fuel her development as a fighter and a champion! Ariel, you also receive a full suite of REVOCS-made state-of-the-art training equipment and clothing package, giving you eveything you need to sharpen your skills and your fashion sense! Do you have anything to say to the crowds?!"

A microphone is shoved into Ariel's face, who by now has been escorted to the stage.

Ariel (219) has posed:
Ariel has dressed up for the occasion! As much as she can, anyway. Silken clothing, in a deep green theme, dominates her wardrobe in a loose, flowing dress. It has a sash about it and makes her look... well... a lot more girly than she usually does. Thus when she's presented the check and microphone, she can do a polite curtsey and smile to the crowd.

"Thank you, Mister Satan, and everyone! I really didn't expect to make it this far... but I'm glad that I did. I fought so many different people, with their own reasons for wanting to win, or just to fight. And I learned a lot not just about fighting, but about why everyone competes in these tourneys. It was a wonderful opportunity, and none of you made it easy. I look forward to seeing you all again next year!"

Mister Satan (TP) (Dropped) has posed:
Mister Satan wipes another sparkling tear from his eye and applauds Ariel. A moment later, and she'll be escorted off stage by all those bikini ladies. With her big fat check, and special tree.

Yuri Stinson (106) has posed:
By the time Ariel has finished her speech and been escorted off stage, Yuri is moving back to the center of it, Microphone in hand, "What a lovely young lady. Now I'm going to announce the prizes for Bracket B."

Yuri Stinson extends his arm behind himself and a screen flashes to a picture of Ariah, "The third place winner, Ariah, will receive an all expenses paid vacation to Afterus, complete with accomodations at the temple of time and a Derse Carpacian guide. She will also receive the limited edition WMAT Shinki armor, courtesy of Mister Satan. All of this comes on top of her prize money of TWELVE MILLION CREDITS!"

Yuri then snaps his fingers and the screen changes to an image of Corvo Attano, "Coming in second, Corvo receives two Transportalizersthat allow instand teleportation between two locations (OOC: See Prize post for caveat), an all expenses paid hunting trip on Atlas, with chance to pilot a HERC courtesy of UniTech, and his prize money of FIFTEEN MILLION CREDITS!"

By now, the spotlight switches to Homura, wherever she may be. Two men are escorting to her the stage. As she walks, a 5-man wing of jets streak overhead, trailing purple smoke. They roll over upside down, exposing their wings to the audience. Those with careful eyesight can see that on top of their wings are emblazoned the with Anime-Style Chibi-Pictures of Homura Akemi. Some are of her making a V-Sign and others are her posing with various guns.

"And our first prize winner, Homura Akemi, receives an apple tree which produces Bacon-flavored fruit donated by Chrysanthemum, a REVOCS-designed state of the art set of training equipment, and as you saw earlier she is now the Idol Girl for the AirMAX Division, one of the two most skilled stunt groups on Earth and rivals to AirSUPREME. All this in addition to her TWENTY MILLION CREDITS."

"Now we'll see if she has any callouts or thanks to make." He says as someone shoves a microphone in Homura's face.

Homura Akemi (2) has posed:
In the crowd, Homura shuffles uncomfortably. That's a lot of focus. Maybe nobody will notice she's here if she doesn't do anything. Oh fuck spotlight. The jets, the noise, and then she's being escorted. Resigned sigh. Stage fright is such a ridiculous thing to have.

If she puts a cool face on and just powers through it maybe she can withdraw and die of shame in a corner nobody's looking at later. Although, the jets really are a bit much.

She settles on the stage, finally, looking at the crowd. It takes her a few long moments to shake off the discomfort. C'mon, act cool, you have that down to a science.

"Thank you, Yuri. I didn't enter the tournament with the intention to win, but rather to build my fighting style and plugs holes in it through practical application. I'm a little bit surprised to be standing here now, so... I didn't really prepare any speeches, sorry. I guess if I had to thank anyone, it would be Shoutan Himei, Kaname Madoka and Psyber... ah. And Kiryuin Satsuki. She came very close to defeating me, and the speed with which she picked up on my tracks was... surprising."

Uncomfortable shuffling ensues. She tries to camouflage it by giving the cameras and the crowd a hair flip, and then walking off the stage. MAYBE THIS'LL PASS.

Horus (103) has posed:
KHARN is there in the crowd, in full Space Marine regalia. He raises his chainsword, starting it roaring, and shouts, "SUCH HUMILITY FOR A TRULY PHENOMENAL WARRIOR!"

Mister Satan (TP) (Dropped) has posed:
"Only one more crop of winners to reward!" Mister Satan grins into his microphone. "Are you ready to hear what prizes these deserving fighters have won?!" Cupping his hand behind his ear, Mister Satan leans toward the crowd, and makes a 'bring it' gesture in their direction, too, trying to rile up a thunderous storm of applause.

"In third place, Cameron Baum! This lovely young lady brought a dangerous resilience to her match-ups, and for that, we're awarding her TWELVE MILLION CREDITS! Additionally, Cameron Baum is receiving her own all-expenses-paid vacation to Afterus, where she and her friends will enjoy the accommodations at the Temple of Time, as well as the expertise of a Derse Carpacian tour guide! She's also the recipient of the REVOCS-designed state-of-the-art training and equipment package."

More images of Afterus flash across the screen, showing how wonderful it would be to spend so much time relaxing around so many consorts. Mister Satan looks a bit nervous about that, but he's laughing and grinning and carrying on despite his sweaty forehead.

"In second place, Takamachi Nanoha will be taking home a prize of FIFTEEN MILLION CREDITS, along with the opportunity to pilot her own HERC in a hunting expedition on planet Atlas! UniTech Corporation is again covering all expenses for this prize package, and wants you to know how rare an honor it is to experience their military wonders as a civilian!" Slapping Yuri Stinson once on the back -- very carefully, it'll be noted, he DID learn his lesson during the opening ceremonies -- he finishes: "And last but not least, Takamachi Nanoha has taken home one of the Soul Dogs owned and produced by our friend Yuri Stinson himself! These magnificent animals come in all breeds and varieties, and are a rare expression of admiration handed out on only special occasions. Congratulations!"

The spotlight shines down on the stage again. Another gaggle of bikini girls is revealed, already lifting up an oversized check. Mister Satan gestures broadly to them, and their collection of photos and cards depicting other prizes. One of these cards shows a military jet.

"And our grand prize goes out to our first place winner, world champion SEIKOU STARKS! Miss Starks, known to us as Material-S, will be taking home TWENTY MILLION CREDITS, in addition her own bacon-flavored apple tree!" The girl holds up her tree-bearing basket and beams. Mister Satan continues. "She's also receiving one of Yuri Stinson's own beloved soul dogs! Last but not least, Earth's premier air stunt squadron AirSUPREME has invited Material-S to be their very own idol girl!"

Right on cue, a squad of four fighter jets comes roaring across the sky, trailing multi-colored smoke. A fifth follows, creating a corkscrew tail for the rest of his squad. His wings are painted with an ultra-kawaii depiction of Material-S.

"You also get this." By then, Material-S has been brought up on stage. 'This' turns out to be a large red cog on a velvet pillow, handed over to her by one of the bikini girls. At the same moment, a microphone is presented. "Any words for the audience, Miss Starks?"

Material-S (177) has posed:
Material-S, though silent most of the time, is here. She is also in her Barrier Jacket, as that lets her do a little curtsey and bow for the crowd in a polite recognition of their presence. However, those expecting a long speech may be disappointed.

When the microphone is passed to her, Seikou speaks up in a mild tone, "This tournament is a personal challenge to me, and it did not disappoint. The competition was fierce, and many of my opponents could be the next champion with discipline and focus. I will be training for next year. I look forward to one of those watching defeating me."

Lila (545) has posed:
Lila clings to Ariel's arm, beaming at the other winners. When Seikou accepts her prises, the young girl chirps /very loudly/, "I'm sure this time next year it will be you saying that, mother! You'll be fighting the C Bracket champion in no time!"

Yuri Stinson (106) has posed:
"Of course, a big part of the WMAT is the advertising. And we have had some great sponsors this year."

"Whether it's MMS, helping you find a friend in technology, or Stark Industries lighting the way to a cleaner and brighter future. Whether the revolutionary and groundbreaking Izzet League or the flashy and relaxing locale of New Vegas. Yes, it doesn't matter if you're Youthanizing yourself or dressing in style with REVOCS brand-labels. Whether Hyperion is taking the forefront of face-melting laser technology and mineral arvesting or UniTech is showing you the corporate ingenuity and organization that puts them at the forefront of the Typhoeus system. Heck, even Starfleet, Black Dragon Shipping and the semi-controversial Beifong family."

"All of these sponsors deserve your thanks for helping to make this tournament as large and prominent as it currently is. And most of them contributed to the amazing prize pools this year."

Mister Satan (TP) (Dropped) has posed:
Mister Satan's still beaming. As Material-S is escorted off the stage, and Yuri takes the time to thank the tournament's corporate sponsors, he stands back gazing at the rapt crowds and the flock of fighters.

"Our winning contenders are not the only competitors to be rewarded tonight. We have other participants to acknowledge, whose prowess in certain areas was especially noteworthy, or whose other traits were astounding and admirable! More than the fighters, we also have our commentators and medical teams to thank, whose tireless support of the tournament and its contenders truly elevates this competition above any other tournaments like it! For those of you who took part but did not win -- we are pleased to once again issue special Participant Award trophies, voted on by your fellow competitors!"

Mister Satan gestures to the main screen, which cuts to highlights featuring commentators and medics doing their thing. In the booth behind microphones or on the field wrapping bandages around someone's arm, the people shown are in their element, gripped by passion, excitement, determination, or concentration! "These are people of the Multiverse who are in their element, showing off their talents and training in much the same way our fighters have done throughout the competition! All commentators will be receiving a 5,000 credit per match commission, and all medics will receive a 3,000 credit bonus for each day logged in Papaya Hospital or at one of our arenas!"

The audience applauds. Mister Satan bows toward the crowd. "Thank you for your service and dedication!"

Straightening up, he turns toward the main screen, which has gone dark. "Before I reveal the remaining awards, I wish to call special attention to the recipient of this year's GOLDEN MIC award! Given to the commentator who not only covered a great variety of matches but did so with unmatched energy joy, the GOLDEN MIC AWARD is a special prize indeed, meant to stand out from the pack! This year, our Golden Mic Award is given to MIZUKI, whose expert wordplay truly captured the spirit of each contest she commentated!"

The main screen depicts Mizuki in her element.

After another spate of applause dies down, Mister Satan picks up where he left off. "Congratulations, Mizuki!"

"As I reveal the remaining Participant Awards, please turn your attention to the left stage, where Yuna Kagurazaka will perform a song for your entertainment! The main screen will also list the awards as I read them off! Each recipient gets his or her own special trophy, and the appreciation of us all."

Mister Satan goes through a big list of names and prizes with great enthusiasm, though he struggles to really capture the essence of this year's 'everyone gets one' consolation prize.

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
As Mister Satan mentions Yuna, she walks out onto the stage, holding her microphone and bowing to the crowd. The music starts as he's finishing the introduction for the participant awards - quiet at first, then picking up to a lively tune, and one which seems appropriate for the tournament. She smiles brightly, and begins to sing:

o/~    With an extraordinary smile,
    Let's pump the pedals strongly
With a headwind blowing against us
It's no good to get discouraged

o/~    The strength that won't lose to sadness
You tell me of it softly
While we aim for the wide ocean

The music picks up further for the chorus:

o/    Do your best! Someday your eyes
Will shine brightly, bathed in light
Don't give up, and what you believe in
    Will become courage for tomorrow!

Yuna doesn't really 'dance' much with this song, not like she does when it's a full-fledged concert - but she DOES put her heart into the words and the music, singing not just for those who're getting awards, not just for the champions ... not even just for those who took part, whether fighting or supporting ... but for *everyone* who's been a part of the tournament, even if they were just watching and cheering on those who competed.

Yuri Stinson (106) has posed:
"Attention all! I do have one final announcement. When I first stepped in at the WMAT last year, I was a basic announcer who did this job to afford a wedding ring for my FIA-nce." He pauses, letting his own joke percolate. And then he continues.

"I won the Golden Mic award that year for my commentary and was invited back as Master of Ceremonies for the event alongside Mister Satan. This honor, which was given to me last year, has helped me discover a special place in this Multiverse, and even helped me with many things beyond what most realize. Therefore, I feel the tradition should continue," He says seriously, looking out over the audience, "As of the end of this event, I will be resigning as the WMAT Master of Ceremonies. But fret not, because even if she doesn't realize it, I have already picked a replacement."

"Next year, the WMAT Master of Ceremonies will be this year's golden microphone. None other than MIZUKI!" He pauses to let the applause sink in around the crowd.

"Folks, this has been an amazing tournament the past few months. For me it's been an amazing two years. I will always be around to help out the WMAT, and I hope to see many of our competitors back again next year along with a ton of new faces." He waves out at everyone, "This year's WMAT has been an amazing success. Now all of you, rest up, train up, and come back twice as strong! Goodnight everyone!"

Mister Satan (TP) (Dropped) has posed:
Mister Satan takes one last look around the arena before throwing his mic in the air, and raising up both hands in his signature doubled victory sign. Then, he takes his crutches and hobbles off stage, as fireworks transform the sky into a mosaic of color, and the music plays one last time.

Lute (188) has posed:
Lute was waiting for the right opportunity for this.

Sadly, he waited too long, and Mr. Satan is already stepping off teh stage.

Lute pulls out a megaphone. BAH, Mr. Satan retreated to backstage, but he may as well do this anyways.

"HEY! MR. SATAN! Next year, it is on! FOR REAL. I won't be crushed under a rock /next time/. This year, you got crushed by the crab! NEXT YEAR, you get crushed by the guy who beat the Crab into submission so he could train it!"

Yeah, Lute didn't really beat the crab up too much, but still. He's trying to make his point.

Even if after everything is wrapped up.

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna didn't actually take the time to leave the stage during the final speeches; she's still standing at stage left, the microphone turned over to a stagehand during the last bit of the closing ceremonies.

But after Mister Satan throws his mic and the double-victory sign, and the fireworks start, Yuna starts applauding - for those (besides herself) who took part in the ceremonies proper, for everyone who's been here ... just, for everyone, really.

(Except maybe for Lute; she doesn't even look up at him as he's calling Mr. Satan out.)
