Two Girls and a Cycle
Date of Scene: 23 July 2019
Location: Industrial District - <Brimsteel Frontier>
Synopsis: Two mechanic girls working on a custom bike.
Cast of Characters: Corona Arclite, Kotone Yamakawa

Corona Arclite has posed:
The Arclite workshop was almost always abuzz with some activity and this day was no different, the backdrop of machinery sounds from the surrounding industrial area almost drowning out the ruckus from within. Almost. Corona had some pretty big machinery of her own, and whatever it was she was working on required the space and facilities to come back to Loadstar instead of using her ship's manufactury.

No surprise the industrious vixen is already hard at work, hammering out some metal plating into a slight curve over the conical end of an anvil, using her plasma-charged hammer so she doesn't have to constantly reheat the panel to make it moldable. Another sign it was something significant was that Corona was actually appropriately dressed for the job. Blacksmith apron over her overalls, heavy heatproof gloves, and her hair tied back in a partial braid to keep it out of her face. Or more accurately out of the lenses of her goggles while she worked.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa had been invited over to help with a project, she's carrying an actual tool kit under one arm, wearing a jumpsuit and is now finding her way into the garage with a grin on her face as she looks over to Corona, she'll wait for a pause. So as not to startle her friend as she tilts her head.

"So just what are you working on here and an anvil? Seems your getting really old school then maybe I should have landed the Bluenose for its machine shop to help out with this, so just what are we making?"

She's got a big old grin on her face and seems pretty excited from the looks of her.

Corona Arclite has posed:
It's not a gun but Corona slings the hammer on her toolbelt all the same, and picks the metal plate up with a pair of tongs. One fennec ear swivels in the direction of her friend's voice. "Be with ya in a moment, Koto." The takes a few steps off to the side and dunks the panel into a cooling bit, steam hissing up around her for a moment as hot meets water. Then she turns to one of her cubical clockwork drones sitting nearby. "Give it fifteen minutes to cool, and then hang it on the drying hooks by the furnance." The little drone salutes with one of its skeletal actuator arms, and the ticking of a timer can be hear emitting from within as it's clockwork 'brain' starts counting down.

Corona tugs off the heavy gloves with a smirk. "Some things are best done by hand, y'know? A machining rig may cut the perfect measurements, but it ain't got the personal touch when ya let the tech do -every-thing." The gloves are tucked in a pocket of the apron as she ambles over, grabs a tarp and gives it a rustle to loosen it. "As fer what. Well. Ah may be good with machines onna whole, but sometimes, ya want the professional's touch too."

She gives the tarp a yank and whips it away dramatically. The framework of a motorcycle is revealed from underneath, with several engine parts and other pieces lying about nearby.

At this point the most noticable feature is the lack of a front wheel, instead it's sporting some manner of treaded unit.

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa moves to set her tool it down for the moment and watches Corona for a moment nodding for a moment.

"Oh I get that, but generally if you are using a forge like this? You're doing something that's not the current generation, at least where I'm from. I couldn't make parts for myself like this."

She grins again.

"I get you though some people will pay big bucks for stuff like that, I mean with my restoration work I still do when I can."

There is an exciting sound out of Kotone as she sees the bike she's fangirling.

"Oh a custom build why didn't you call me sooner!"

She zooms over to start inspecting the parts...

Corona Arclite has posed:
Corona Arclite emits an amused snort at her friend's reaction. " 'Current gen'ration' is just a buzzward used for bein' fancy and chargin' more. Don't beat the good ol' elbow grease of -any- gen.... Hah, which you also literally Ah bet!"

She strolls over and leans against the framework for a moment. "Cuz the first build Ah did just to test the design." She leaned over a little to pat the side of the front tread pod. "This worked fine."

She pointed over Kotone's shoulder at the partially dismantled engine parts. "That thing, however, wasn't cuttin' it. To get the torque needed it was gonna be too big, too clunky and too smokey," which is saying something when one's usual asthetic is 'wild west punk meets Fury Road IN SPACE', "Nobody on The Line would mind, but it pro'ly wouldn't be street legal fer most worlds with that ol' combustion gas guzzler."

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa says "Well some technology isn't street legal to use anymore for environmental or safety reasons. Or just companies being assholes."

She keeps going over parts and grins more as she does so.

"This thing looks like it came out of a classic post-nuclear war movie series from back home. You could make some money if they ever doe another building the cars for it."

She is quiet for a moment.

"I see, so we need more power for this machine then and it needs to work here and in the multiverse at large right?"

Corona Arclite has posed:
"Sums up a big ol' chunk of what was The Line rawht there," Corona drawls. Then pushes herself back to her feet and walks around the end of the cycle to get over to one of the work tables. "But yeah. Ah don't wanna get held up just gettin' to the action cuz it ain't gonna pass some legal nitpickery. Ah may be a frontier woman but Ah ain't THAT kind o' redneck." Not to mention her neck is technically more of a grey-tan fuzz.

"But before ya get too deep into that Ko, tell me what ya think of this." Corona picks the front end of the bike off the bench and turns around to hold it up to show that she's been modding it to look like a large metal beast's head, with the headlights set into where the eyes would be. Corona leans around one side while using her hand inside to click on the lights for the eerie eye glow, grinning from ear to ear. "Think this is ferocious lookin' enough for chasin' highway desperados down?"

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa is now focusing on the work ahead and she thinks for a moment as she looks at the front end for a moment at the head.

"Might as well find a way to light up the eyes as headlamps and maybe even get it to howl when the thing starks if you are not looking to be stealthy with it." She seems to be pretty pleased with this idea from the sounds of it.

"Or are you looking to put a sonic canon into it? Though making a sonic weapon would be beyond my skills."

Corona Arclite has posed:
Corona Arclite barks a laugh. "Nah, this is just to look fierce. It'll sound plenty intimidatin' when ya get a engine roarin' as it is. 'Sides, sonic blasters have wicked recoil, and it ain't easy to compensate like ya can with a shotgun." Corona turns to set it back on the workbench. "Ah got em to light up... but Ah reckon they need a more vicious lookin' color to 'em."

Her tail flicks side to side as she works inside the 'head'. "Maybe some colored lenses. So ya got standard light fer the dark, and something savage lookin' fer once the road rage starts."

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa says "I was just getting idea, though I like the head light ideas" She grins again before she looks over the work her friend has done so far.

"Hey if it scares some into giving up or running it's not a bad idea right? Also this will be so much fun ot ride when it's done. Oh yes I like the idea of the lenses!"

Corona Arclite has posed:
"As much as Ah don't like showin' off, the rawht presentation can do wonders." Corona pauses to fiddle around with the wiring, lenses on her goggles click-clacking as they switch to a magnification setting. "There's some pipes in the corner ya can use for exhaust when ya get there. Iffen ya need to fabr'cate anything, the shop is at yer disposal." She leans a bit farther into the head piece. ".. Y'know, sonic might be out, but Ah bet we could design somethin' to suck the energy outta a power grid. Stall 'em out without crashin'."

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa says "I'll get to work on the pipes, though for that I'll leave that system to you." She seem to be getting various tools out to get to work on the pipes. "Right might as well get started on those, though when we're done I can use this in my example build works for my own business I hope? I won't be tramping about the multiverse forever you know!"

Corona Arclite has posed:
Corona Arclite wiggles around to get a couple of wires spliced together. "Doubt anyone else is crazy enough to want that extreme of modifications, but go for it." She pauses, lifting her head and pulling up her goggles. "A trick or two don't hurt. Though most of the fightin' will be with my own gun. Or lettin' Hopalong lit'rally ride shotgun."

There's a rattle from somewhere under the benches and a steamy hiss. "Ya better not be chewin' up the spare wires down there!"

Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa says "You would be shocked about some of my clients givne how well off a few of them are."

She grins "So a possible side car?" She's now owkring away witht he machinery to get to work on the pipes that's going to take a bit after all she intends to do it right.

Corona Arclite has posed:
At the mention of sidecar there's another metal-grinder growl from under the workbench. "Ah don't think he likes the idea of ridin' anywher but on the seats." Corona leans over to glare under the bench. "Keep fussin' and Ah'll make you be my helmet instead!"

Then she stands up and gets back to work finishing the head molded front and install it on the bike frame. "Gotta say this will pro'ly get done a lot faster now that there's two of us workin' on it too."
