Date of Scene: 03 July 2014
Location: Planet March
Synopsis: Stanza Windstar has finally finished his research and testing. What will this new system be like?
Cast of Characters: 4, 162

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Stanza paces. He sent the preliminary summary to the TSAB a few hours ago, and now he has to wait. His hands are clasped behind his back, as Darma stands in the corner arms folded with Zephyr kinda perched beside the Familiar.

Divine Wind's standby form hangs in a suspension field, the coin lazily rotating as holographic screens read off information. Diagnostic systems checking the internal code is working well.

Alicia T. Harlaown (4) has posed:
The report arrived at TSAB HQ's R&I department a few hours ago. The officer who received it was fairly new to his department and so didn't realise it fell into their purview. Believing it something more appropriate for the Device Meisters, he passed it on to their department. The one who received it didn't really understand what was in it, so passed it on up to her superior. That superior was too busy to to fully read the report and so assumed it was simple Device maintenance and passed it back to one of her subordinates. The subordinate actually knew what he was doing, recognizing the experimental nature of the upgrade, and so correctly passed it back to the R&I department, to somewhere there that had actual hands-on experience working with the innards of Devices. That's how it ended up in Alicia's inbox.

Several minutes after Alicia finished reading the report, the door her slides open and Alicia walks in. She gives everyone inside a grin and a single wave, saying, "Hi! Someone called for a specialist?"

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Zephyr smiles and waves back to Alicia. She says nothing though, as Stanza booms in greeting. "Ah, at last! I was beginning to worry my request got lost in the red tape!" he jokes, laughing good naturedly. "Ah, yes, I wanted another opinion from someone who knows about Devices... I'm sure my daughter told you I was working on something, yes?" he enquires.

Alicia T. Harlaown (4) has posed:
Alicia hmms quietly, scratching her head in thought, "She might have mentioned something... Yeah..." Alicia pays attention, honest! She smiles, "I read through the summary you sent. Looks good on paper."

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Stanza nods, then gestures to the suspension field and the holoscreens. "Well, shall we? I haven't installed the new system yet. I wanted to make sure the Core Matrix was stable, and there weren't any abnormalities in the rest of Divine Wind, before adding something experimental and new." he says.

The man takes one terminal, pulling up additional screens with information and read-outs. There's another terminal with a Device Interface, should Alicia want to use Sweet Melody.

Alicia T. Harlaown (4) has posed:
Alicia nods to Stanza, walking up to the free terminal. Of course she wants to use Sweet Melody, as she is designed to assist Alicia in this very sort of thing. Placing the small gem on the Device Interface, Alicia says, "Go ahead with the standard battery of tests, Melody. I'll take a look at the connections for the new system." Sweet Melody chimes in acknowledgement, beginning her work.

Alicia follows through on her words, checking that Divine Wind is properly set up to receive the upgrade, "I assume you created the new system with Divine Wind specifically in mind?"

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Stanza nods. "I did, yes. Divine Wind was a test bed for many things during the design process. I left quite a few 'hooks' in place, in case I perfected any of the design ideas."

Sweet Melody brings up much of what she already had during previous screenings of Divine Wind. However, the code system shows some new Active Nodes, perhaps ready to accept the new system code and matricies.

Alicia T. Harlaown (4) has posed:
Alicia nods in understanding, "Well that should make installing the new one quick." She briefly recalls one of her Device Meister trainers regailing her with stories about how hard it was to adapt an Ancient Belkan module to a Mid-Childan Device.

Alicia glances over Sweet Melody's results as they come up, "Mmhmm... Looks good. Divine Wind seems ready to accept it." She turns back to her own screen, "The connection map is accurate. Let's take a look at the new system now, just to make sure there are no glaring problems we might be able to catch. You know the standard things to look for, Melody." The Device chimes again, once more too busy working to do much talking.

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
The new system comes into focus on the read-outs. It might trigger some recognition, the base function focusses around semi-autonomous 'Bits', but it has several flow controls for Kinetic type energy, perhaps based around Zephyr's Wind affinity.

Alicia T. Harlaown (4) has posed:
Alicia recognises some of the features, "Oh right, a bit system. A cool idea, I think. Though I don't have much experience with them myself, only what I've seen of Nanoha's." She works for a few more moments, then says, "Well, I can't see anything obvious. How about you Melody?"
Sweet Melody chimes, <Cursory analysis reveals no anomalies. It is reasonably certain to work.>
Alicia grins at Stanza, "Well, seems things are good to go, yes?"

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Stanza nods in return. "If you would like to monitor the connection nodes while I introduce the matrix." he suggests, drawing up another holoscreen, which he uses as a control surface, typing up new lines of code and inserting them into the open dialogue, beginning to link the Core Matrix with the Bit System and Mistral Tempest array.

Alicia T. Harlaown (4) has posed:
Alicia nods in agreement with Stanza, "Sure!" She brings up the list of nodes and then watches as they start to become active, "Links one through twenty are good... Fifty... Link number seventy four is-oh wait, no, there it goes. Melody, how's Divine Wind?"
Sweet Melody chimes, <Her core remains stable.>
Alicia nods as she continues monitoring, "One twenty... One sixty..."

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Stanza continues to type and link, eyes focussed on the read-out. "I'm going to have to recode this on the fly... I didn't realize it would..." he deletes an entire block of code from the new system, and a smaller block from Divine Wind's matrix, retyping them and adding the connector. "There, the old code would have caused a feedback loop... just a few more and..." tap. CHIME.
Divine Wind gives off a resonant chime, and glows briefly, before going inert again.

Alicia T. Harlaown (4) has posed:
Alicia nods approvingly, "Looks like a smooth installation. Melody, run another check on Divine Wind. Let's make sure we didn't break anything during that."

In the mean time, Alicia turns to look at Zephyr, "So! Any ideas on how you plan to test this out?"

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Zephyr just watches in awe as her father works. She's always liked watching him. As Alicia speaks, though, she blinks and looks over. "Oh... I think I know a good time... depends on if I get there or not." she replies.

Divine Wind seems stable. It's running a diagnostic on the new system, and checking the connections with Sweet Melody's help. Everything is looking green, and Stanza is looking very like the cat that got the cream.

Alicia T. Harlaown (4) has posed:
Alicia nods, "Well just make sure to do some live tests before you try to use it in the field. Last thing you want to happen is find out it doesn't work in a life and death situation!"
Sweet Melody chimes, <The operation was a complete success, the patient will live.>
Alicia grins, "That's good to hear. We should probably give Divine Wind a little time to get used to the new system, also maybe leave some more thorough diagnostic programs running overnight. Can never be too careful!"

Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Stanza laughs heartily. "My thoughts exactly my dear! I'll leave a full system diagnostic running overnight... then I believe you can use that... Ring of Philosophy... to do some tests on the system in a safe environment." he grins, "For now, how about some food? Darma be a dear and start something, I'll be right up to help."

Darma grunts an affirmative, then stalks out of the room.

Alicia T. Harlaown (4) has posed:
Alicia ooohs excitedly at the mention of food, "Something to eat would be great, thanks! It's about time for my break anyway..." She turns to her Device, "Melody, why don't you keep Divine Wind company down here for a while?" Sweet Melody chimes. Alicia turns to Zephyr, "So! I heard you won your WMAT match? I did too."
