|Profile=Thousands of years ago into the future, Mortimer was a chosen pawn of the goddesses Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi. By their command he was flung across space and time to fight battles that they would or could not do themselves. Mort was extremely skilled at this, adapting to temporal dislocation with incredible speed, and being one of the most powerful fire-types of his era saw him survive all manner of adversity. Even in the Multiverse he continues to persist, officially having retired from all conflicts between the Union and Confederacy unless those conflicts should personally threaten him and what he holds dear. But even with that retirement, Mort is haunted by the atrocities he has witnessed and committed, and it is always a struggle to contain both his own demons while keeping his crew- most of whom have their own neuroses- from getting into trouble. Nothing would please him more than to stay out of the line of fire completely, but there is always that niggling voice that eternally lusts for battle; and the omnipresent spectre of past failures are always eager to remind him of his own fallibility.
|Powers=* '''PokePowers:''' Being high-level pokemon, Mortimer (and subsequently, his crew) are inherently gifted with powerful elementally-themed powers. Mortimer, being a pure Fire-type, possesses the ability to generate flames and heat to tremendous degrees. He also has a measure of psychic control over ice, but this is nowhere near as potent as his natural and psychic fire-related abilities.

* '''All Things Burn:''' Pokemon have many ways to empower themselves, albeit for short durations. In critical situations, rarely more than once a week or so, Mortimer can draw elemental power from suitable environments- or even create them himself to a limited extent- to strengthen his Flames. Aura flares can be to 33 in mild conditions (desert heat, forest fires, etc) or to 34 in extreme conditions (molten rivers of lava, active volcano, similar).
|Skills=* '''Professional Soldier:''' As a former Groudan Marine General Infantry Sergeant, Mortimer has learned an eclectic variety of unique martial arts that rely upon Pokemon physiology and elemental powers. These arts are expressed through complex, and often brutal, hand-to-hand and weapons techniques focusing on a wide array of bladed weapons.

* '''Business Badger:''' Mortimer's educational background focuses heavily on the corporate world- macro and microeconomics, contract law, accounting, financing, and administrative theory.

* '''Battle Planning:''' Aside from combat skills, Groudan GIs were required to learn other skills to make them more useful. In Mort's case, he learned a great deal about tactical command, improvising in the field, and understanding strategic decision-making. These skills are best expressed when leading and fighting other Pokemon-related things and beings, dealing with non-Pokemon things tends to pose challenges that he may have great difficulty in making accurate judgements about.
|Assets=* '''Arms Collector:''' More than merely fancy antiques, Mort's picked up all sorts of fascinating, unique, and dangerous weapons. A large dagger blessed by his goddesses, one of the Imperium of Man's holy Boltguns, a customized Gelgoog Marine Mobile Suit, a particularly large Grand Daiklave made of orichalcum and red jade, an Orkish chain-axe, and other such things. Most are just trophies or curiousities, though.
|NPCs=* '''Reserve War Dogs:''' It is inevitable that anyone who trains Pokemon picks up a bunch. Reder, the Wartortle, has been with Mort since he was a little Squirtle pup- a vicious creature ignorant of fear, he is always eager for a fight. Falstaff, a very old Absol, lacks in proper training but makes up for this with near mindless ferocity and powerful magical and psychic powers. And then there is Nettle, an insidious Shuppet, who holds great knowledge of Death and all manner of dark, ghostly powers. (PLs are all 31/31/30, cannot benefit from Aura Flares mentioned above.)

* '''Butlerfree:''' Switchbait is Mortimer's long-suffering butterfree butler- less conniving or violent than his contemporaries, he is often the unit's voice of logic and reason when tempers run hot. But he is still fully capable of throwing down the gauntlet, being capable of producing numerous sorts of poisonous spores and wielding potent psychic powers (PL 30).

* '''Fishies!:''' Roll is an adorable little Delibird with no known combat abilities- she is incapable of comprehending hate or bloodlust, even in self-defense, and thus is a complete non-combatant. She is however an expert garbage diver who keeps a veritable mountain of junk, tidbits, and odds and ends in her tail pouch, which was blessed by Mew herself.
|Disadvantages=* '''Damaged Goods:''' Most of the crew has some sort of neurotic behavior. Reder's mouth tends to outrun his brain, which tends to cause trouble. Roll is mentally retarded and completely innocent of mind, having a great deal of trouble comprehending bad things in the world around her. Falstaff is an almost completely feral beast that is barely controllable and hard to recognize as more than a wild monster. And Nettle delights in messing with peoples' heads and dreams, simply for amusement. Only Switchbait could be called particularly well-adjusted, and even he can be driven into a battle-hungry rage if the right buttons are pressed.

* '''The Me in the Mirror:''' Deep in Mortimer's heart, there is a monstrous thing. A reflection of himself that haunts his nightmares. It is a beast of hatred and vengeance and destruction, always screaming for justice for the wronged and the helpless. Extreme stresses brought on by rage and hate, usually from witnessing acts of meaningless sadism or cruelty, can bring this demon out. It is a ruthless and cold-blooded killing machine; the sort of thing that can, and will, commit nearly any atrocity in the name of justice with no hesitation or thought, even if that means its own destruction.

* '''Tainted Power:''' As a long-term side effect of consuming a powerful object known as the Tesseract, Mortimer bears an incredibly obvious magical signature that he has no control over. Those with magical senses can detect his presence immediately through any cover or concealment. Additionally, his body is constantly at conflict with hostile residual energies, leaving him in a perpetual state of recovery which has a particularly negative impact on his ability to process toxins (particularly alcohol) and digest non-food objects. All healing times are considered to be one step of severity greater than normal, and he may never mitigate recovery times with regeneration or medical assistance.

* '''Scar of the World-Slayer:''' A mark laid on all of those who participated in the Union's campaign to kill the Confederate Emperor, Viridian Sunrise, in the year A.U. 20. Though successful, the campaign resulted in the destruction of his inner universe and the countless beings within it. The mark takes the form of a sun-shaped birthmark on the bodies of each of those who were present that day. This mark appears as a sun broken into three pieces on his forehead, and if removed by any means it will simply reappear in the same place. It imposes upon its bearer total knowledge of everything that died in the Union's crusade, from enemy soldiers to newborn babes. Mortimer remembers and knows everything about them- names, faces, their entire lives up to their deaths. It doesn't teach him their skills, but it does give him an insight into the worlds and universe of Annu.
