Apr 9, 2012 - Namida no Ao...
A young woman in a black coat lays flat on her back upon the flat side of a black metal spike. Wind billows her twintailed hair and jacket. Beneath her, an expansive blue world gradually fills with more jagged spines, gradually unfurling and expanding into a deadly thicket. Slowly, the girl rises to her feet, revealing a large white star decorating the back of her coat.
The girl turns, focusing piercing blue eyes downward. Immediately below, in the heart of the thicket of black metal spikes, shines a calming blue light. But, deep within that light glimmers something crimson. Deep below the surface, a red eye stares upward at the girl with intensity.
The pool of blue liquid reflecting that great glaring eye boils suddenly. A jagged black and gold pillar instantly erupts from the surface, bursting through the opening and thrusting itself into the sky above the jagged landscape. Revealing itself to be an enormous sword, it dominates the landscape, towering above all else.
The girl tumbles through the wreckage pouring down around the enormous blade, pushing out her hands. She rights herself, tumbles, and begins sliding down the flat of the weapon's blade. Lifting a hand, blue light gathers and black metal appears, twisting and forming itself into a weapon nearly as big as she is. Wordlessly, she swings this weapon downward, charges it with blue energy, and begins to fire.
Blue-wreathed shots rain down the length of the giant blade, striking against the pool at the base and the great red eye within it. Despite the onslaught, a sinister fang-toothed smile appears on the surface beneath that eye. A great explosion rocks the world, blasting debris up into the sky as well as blowing a hole in the bottom.
Jagged black metal spikes begin unfurling again, unfolding, attempting to close in around the black-dressed girl with the striking blue eyes. She continues to shoot downwards, her face highlighted by the muzzle flare of her weapon. A stern gaze fixed on the mocking smile below.
Apr 16, 2012 - A Proper Burial
Another World. A featureless gray expanse stretching on forever in all directions. Carved through with canyon-like tears that stretch deep into the world's surface. A single figure trudges through the monochrome world, dragging something heavy and black behind her with both hands.
A great red eye opens in the sky. Just as quickly, it closes and opens again much closer. This repeats several times until the ringed red eye looms directly overhead the tireless figure.
With her arms terminating into massive mechanical gauntlets, the girl drags her enormous hands behind her with every step, bone-spined tail lashing with her steps. Nestled in her curled fingers is the lifeless body of Beast. The entire path that she has been dragged is marked not just with her carrier's footsteps nor the furrows left by her dragging gauntlets but also a thin trail of black blood, having long-since lost the cyan glow of her Color.
The girl stops at the edge of a canyon, rears back, and hurls Beast over the edge. Pausing, she looks down at her great metal hand, stained with black liquid. Upon hearing the 'thump' of the corpse hitting bottom, she turns her orange eyes to the sky.
The great red eye lingers, then disappears.
Strength lashes her skeletal tail thoughtfully, then turns in place and trudges back the way she came, no longer dragging her enormous gauntlets now that they are bereft of weight.

Saya Irino sits at her desk, chin resting on one hand. With the other, she toys around with her new laptop. Setting it up the way she wants. Almost boredly, she sets the wallpaper to a high-res photo of a coffee cup with a picture 'drawn' on the surface using latte foam. Beside her elbow, a pale brown cafe-au-lait steams, barely touched.
Perfectly ordinary.
When the door opens, Saya straightens a bit, glancing over her shoulder as Psyber enters the office, "Mm~? Ah!" Daintily, she closes the top of her laptop and rises to her feet, "Would you like some coffee?" As she says this, the woman pulls open her cabinet, displaying a...massively impressive collection of white coffee cups each with a unique design on it. Without even thinking, she pulls out a cup with a black curled feather emblazoned on it.
Another World. A ruin of pockmarked gray stone pillars, supporting a heavy stone ceiling riddled with craters and holes. Standing upon an outcropping, Black Gold Saw's arms are folded, her eyes closed. Surrounding her is an enormous collection of books, each one floating almost lazily. Every book is open. The pages flip swiftly.
Not just any sort of books.
School yearbooks from all over the Multiverse, spanning back several years.
The books surrounding Black Gold Saw suddenly freeze and rearrange around her. Her eyes open and she unfolds her arms, reaching out to collect the yearbook immediately in front of her. Holding it open, one-handed, she traces a talon down the page, then nods once. The page is dog-eared, the book closed. The others close as well, float down, and form a neat stack. By hand, Black Gold Saw rests the yearbook she'd singled out neatly on top.
"If a Wendigo breaks in," Saya says brightly, "I'll just have to sit it down here and ask it to talk about why it's so angry~!" She's joking of course, as she puts her taser away right next to the still-concealed canister of pepper spray. "Please stop in any time. It was nice to finally meet you face to face, and.." Another bright smile, "Thanks for the laptop. It's already proving to be a big help!"
She crosses to the door to hold it for Psyber as he departs, adding in, "I'll do my best to straighten things out for you. That's my job, after all~." A little bow, "I'll see you around~!" And then the door closes.
Turning, Saya leans her back against the door with a soft noise. That was harder than she thought it would be. Eyes opening, she glances towards her desk. In midair, the tip of the King Saw silently emerges, twists, and recedes. From the opening, a stack of yearbooks from schools all over the Multiverse drops down. Pushing off the door as the gash closes, Saya approaches the stack and picks up the book right on top.
Saya's eyes narrow faintly as she takes in the school and year on the cover. Opening it to a dog-eared page, she traces her finger down the page until she finds a picture of a violet-eyed, purple-haired girl in glasses. With that same hand, she pulls a pen from her desk and marks a little heart beside the name under that picture.

Notes: This takes place when Saya Irino is seriously injured by a maddened Crepe.
The Other World.
The ruined pillars and scattered crimson pools characteristic to the domain of Black Gold Saw. The devil woman picks through a book. The book from Prospit, turning the pages carefully so that her talons do not damage them.
Something gets her attention, her face jerks upward. The book is discarded, floating sidelong to rest beside a small pile of other literature from the Incipisphere. With long strides, she moves, wrenching the King Saw out of the ground mid-step.
The night streets of Boston. A woman walks home from Heaven Or Hell. She's confronted by a girl she had seen before. They talk. The girl shouts. Grabs the woman. Shouts more. A tazer goes off.
A hiss.
An explosion.
With a shriek, Saya attempts to defend herself with her messenger bag. Flimsy cloth is poor protection against a blast comperable to dynamite. The bag is shredded. Carried by the force, Saya sails backward, striking a parked car and coming to rest across the hood.
Thin trails of blood pool together from beneath her, running down the curve of the hood and dripping to the asphalt.
The devil woman stops mid-stride which coincides with the exact moment Saya struck the car. With a boney rattle, her arms and legs quiver, refusing to obey. Unable to move at all. She struggles, her vision blurring as her motion starts to return with slow, jerky movements.
Something wet strikes the back of her hand. In shock, Black Gold Saw releases the King Saw with a clatter, jerking her arm away from it. Realizing nothing is there, she hesitates, crimson eyes wandering to her hand. Even with her vision blurring, she can see that it is just some clear droplets.
More join them. She blinks several times.
Lifting that same hand, Black Gold Saw wipes a tear from one eye, then watches it as it runs down the length of her skeletal gauntlet's finger, confusion written across her face.

Notes: Following Crepe's attack, Black Gold Saw communes with Saya to assess her condition.
Mercy Hospital, Boston-666
Intensive Care -- Room 412
A Japanese woman occupies the private ICU's only bed, her body draped in a serene white blanket. There's a window, though the blinds are drawn. The blanket itself conceals the casts and bandages currently holding the Saya Irino together. Her brows twitch every so often, but otherwise the only sign of life is the faint, rhytmic beep of the heart monitor.
"She's lucky to be alive," Doctor Kaufmann comments dimly, "My only guess is that she's the lower end of those 'Elites' the Union and Confederacy employ. That's the only reason she's even in one piece after an explosion like that."
The Other World. Within Black Gold Saw's domain, the devil woman sits upon a stone. The King Saw is jammed in behind her, and she uses it as a backrest, crimson eyes resting on the overcast gray sky.
The voice rumbles through the domain. The sound incites only a blink in response from Black Gold Saw, her posture straightening.
Slowly, Black Gold Saw rises to her feet. She places her hand on the hilt of the King Saw, then turns her eyes to the sky again. With a wrenching motion, she pulls the blade free, deftly swinging it up and placing it across her shoulders. Soundlessly, she steps forward and hops down from her perch.
The presence fades from the Domain and from Black Gold Saw's mind. But she keeps walking. With each step, her head tilts just slightly more forward, until her bangs cast her eyes in shadow. Only the crimson glow indicates their presence, bobbing slowly in the shadow.
"Sleep. I will continue to bear your suffering."
The nurse tending the patient frowns, leaning down. Using a cloth, she wipes tears from the corners of Saya's eyes.
"...How peculiar..."

CUTSCENE MUSIC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WrumZIqM7g
Notes: Following the destruction of Shackled Detonator and the weight of Crepe's grief, Black Gold Saw has returned to Saya.
The Other World. The ruined pillars and crimson pools that mark Black Gold Saw's domain. The devil woman stands atop one of the more complete crack-riddled pillars, looking up at the sky with glum red eyes.
"I have finished what we started. Shackled Detonator has been exterminated."
A pulse in the clouds. A tired woman's voice responds.
"You are still suffering."
"You cannot do that the way you are now."
Black Gold Saw closes her eyes, bowing her head away from the glum gray clouds, "Switch with me."
"I will bear the pain of your reality." The devil woman's gaze returns to the sky, her eyes narrowed with conviction, "Switch with me."

Sep 6, 2012 - I Saw a Ray of Hope That Wasn't Supposed To Be There
CUTSCENE MUSIC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7ZhaW1VkCE
Notes: Immediately follows previous cutscene.
The devil woman does not respond. Her head bows, eyes closed. A pillar of white light engulfs her and a sudden weight presses down upon her. She endures the strain, her shoulders and legs shaking. As the pressure mounts, she hunches forward, leaning on the King Saw for support. Her grip slips after a moment, and the indomitable Black Gold Saw falls to her hands and knees with a shout of pain.
"Doctor!" A nurse's worried cry echoes through the halls of the Boston-666 hospital, "We have a flatline!"
"Crash cart, now!" comes the reply, the physician already bursting into the ICU with such force that the chart near the door crashes to the floor. IRINO, SAYA shows clearly on the top line.
But just as the defibrillator arrives, the heart monitor--Its shrill chirp having lasted a full minute--suddenly cuts off. Three nurses and the doctor all look at it. And then, it starts. In perfect rhythm.
The hospital staff collectively breathes a sigh of relief.
Hunched over on her hands, Black Gold Saw pants heavily. She felt heavy. Drained. But even now she could feel her strength returning. She blinks very slowly as her breathing steadies. With deliberate motion, the woman reaches up to grasp the King Saw's hilt, pulling herself back to her feet.
Her eyes lock on to her hand. Then to the other, empty hand. She flexes the skeletal-style taloned gauntlet, testing her grip. Her eyes wander to the great sword beside her. Turning, she lifts her crimson eyes to the sky.
She tries to speak, her lips parting, but all that comes out is a hoarse noise. The devil looks down in shock and tries again. She shakes her head, swallowing, then returns her eyes to the sky, "...But why..?"
"...Thank you...Black Gold Saw."
Dec 8, 2012 - I Knew From the Start
Notes: Several months after the previous cutscene, and many other events have taken place.
The Other World. Black Gold Saw's domain. Jagged stones and great crumbling pillars reach out of a pool of crimson water, grasping at the cold gray sky. Upon the top of a pillar, the devil woman herself stands. The King Saw stands upright beside her, wedged into the stone beside her feet. Her eyes are focused on the sky. From it, a voice rumbles.
"I understand."
Immediately, a great weight settles upon the pale woman's shoulders. Her head bows, her shoulders shaking. Her hand, quivering, clasps above her heart as she collapses on hand and knees. Struggling, Black Gold Saw straightens, turning her face to the sky.
The agonized scream echoes throughout all of the Other World.
"Code blue! It's Irino!" The Boston hospital staff erupt into a frenzy. Two doctors and a handful of nurses, pushing the crash cart, erupt into the coma patient's room. Immediately, the excitement ceases.
Irino Saya sits up in her bed, eyes open, a small smile on her face.
Relieved, all but one of the nurses and one of the doctors disperse. The remaining two stay behind to make sure their patient really is as healthy as she appears.
Dec 8, 2012 - That You Were Right There
Notes: Immediately follows previous cutscene
Her shoulders heaving with deep breaths, Black Gold Saw remains still for several moments. Crimson eyes open. With one quivering hand, she reaches up to grasp the King Saw, using it to pull herself to her feet despite shaking knees. It isn't long before she has recovered her poise. Crimson eyes lift to the sky.
"I don't mind. It is my nature."
She speaks without moving her lips, though her eyes close contentedly.
"There is nothing else I would rather do, Irino Saya."
Black Gold Saw lowers her gaze from the sky, tightening her grip on the King Saw's hilt. After a pause, she wrenches the weapon free and swings it up over her shoulders. Stepping forward, she drops off her pillar perch and begins to walk.
"We are stronger together."
May 12, 2013 - Of Devils and Queens
Notes: Mother's Day
The Other World.
The Domain of Black Rock Shooter. A checkerboard-patterned land of blackness, crowded with trees made out of jagged glass shards. The girl with blue eyes looks skyward from where she seats, eyes resting on the great crimson eye that's opened in the sky. After a moment, that enormous eye narrows, then closes.
The Other World.
The Domain of Dead Master. An empty graveyard with uncountable black headstones, barely visible through thick wisps of glowing green fog. The great crimson eye opens in the sky, scanning from side to side. Seeing nothing, it quickly closes.
The Other World.
The Domain of Chariot. A labyrinthine maze made out of broken toys and enormous decapitated dolls. The blonde princess Chariot wraps another length of chain around an incapacitated Dead Master, a dark smile on her face. She pauses, though. Both figures look skyward, eyes meeting the great crimson eye in the sky. There's a pause, and then the eye closes.
The Other World.
The Domain of Golden Queen. A hilly region shot through with castle walls, their bulwarks in various states of disrepair. A woman in battered golden armor drags an enormous sword through what was once a courtyard, heaving herself onto the ledge of a mostly destroyed fountain. Placing one hand on her knee, the other resting upon the Queen's Blade, she casts golden eyes to the sky. When they meet with the great crimson eye that floats there, a smile crosses her face. The enormous eye closes.
In the space of a breath Black Gold Saw emerges from behind one of the battered bulwarks, the King Saw resting across her shoulders. With measured steps, she crosses the courtyard. The King Saw is swung downward, and with no hesitation, the devil woman seats herself beside the Golden Queen.
Together, silently, the pair look into the sky as if holding some unheard conversation.
Tokyo, Shinohama District
Holding a large bouquet of flowers, Irino Saya raps on an apartment door, then waits patiently. When it finally opens, she beams a warm smile and bows, the flowers offered to the elderly woman on the other side, "Happy Mother's Day, Mama."

Floor 4, Morning Glow Consultations
Irino Saya rests in her armchair, coffee steaming in the cup she holds just shy of her lips.
Houken Nozomi. A girl hired by Psyber a short time ago. A girl, she remarks inwardly, with some pretty clear social problems. Crippling shyness. Extreme lack of confidence. And a unique problem eerily similar to something she is far more familiar with.
Another Self.
The situation is different. A transformation. Combination with technology, not other realms of existence. No deep seated psychological traumas as a root cause. Simple, mechanical efficiency. Lifting her cup, Saya takes a slow drink, her eyes closed. The question is: How would she go about helping this girl come to terms with it.
"We may be able to help," a voice states, even and measured. Unsurprised, Saya's eyes open. Seated across from her is a woman who bears a striking resemblance to herself, if her hair were much longer. Clad in black and crimson armor. Her hands are not human, but metal talons with a distinct resemblance to blackened bone. And those great horns.
A small red crown hangs about the devil woman's right horn, almost as an afterthought.
"It's possible," Saya replies, "One of your kind could shoulder her social anxieties... She may be able to grow as a person until she can bear it herself without breaking."
"The risk is great," the woman states. Her own eyes are closed, and she lifts a coffee cup of her own--She's only able to fit one finger through the loop, "You will be placing yourself in danger if it goes poorly."
"I'll cross that bridge when it appears," Saya states. Because it will. Undoubtedly. Curing Houken Nozomi's emotional issues will be very dangerous.
"And I will continue to bear your pains. My precious wound."
Lifting her cup, Irino Saya taps her mug against the outstretched mug held by Black Gold Saw.

Boston 666 - Heaven or Hell Tower
4th Floor, Morning Glow Consultations
Despite the sunshine and crisp October air, the curtains are drawn across the windows of Morning Glow. Despite the proprietor's usual policy, the door is locked.
Irino Saya rests in her usual chair, reclining in the comfortable seat with a heavy tome resting in her lap. The Golden Book of Prospit. There is no reason to look at it now. No real reason, anyway. Only Nostalgia. And that is the reason she flips slowly through the pages of ornate images and exquisite drawings.
A cup of coffee, heavy in cream, steams invitingly on the endtable beside her, untouched.
Across from her, a vision from Hell. Black Gold Saw rests, one leg propped up on the other. The injuries she had sustained in battle with the Black King still cover her exposed skin, show in her tattered sleeves and the ring finger missing from her left hand. A small red crown hangs loosely around her right horn. Like Saya, she also turns pages of a large and ornate tome. The Book of Derse.
In silence, the pair read for over an hour. A silence which ends only when the wounds covering Black Gold Saw's body finally flicker to gold, then lift off her body and disappear. The Devil Woman pauses, lifting her left hand and flexing her fingers. The new ring finger pops several times. She seems satisfied.
"We'll see them again," Saya says without looking up.
"Of that, I have no doubt."
"Thank you," Finally, the therapist locks eyes with her Other. Despite her smile, tears fill her eyes, "If it wasn't for you, I never would have been able to help them. Not even a little. You've withstood so much. Done so much for me. Thank you."
"You are my precious, precious wound. Without you I would not exist. Though I am without emotion, I do understand the nature of your actions. I am you, in a sense. I consider such sacrifices a small price to pay."
"Even if it hurt," More of a statement of fact than a question. Shifting her seating, Saya reaches out, collecting her forgotten coffee, and holding the mug out.
"I exist to bear pain." Black Gold Saw, in turn, collects the large teacup beside her, lifts it up, and taps the ceramic to Saya's with a distinctive clink. "To Time. To Space. To Void. To Life."
"To Hope."
