Cast of Characters: | 188, 428, 522, 530, 552, 583, 691 |
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
The sun was up in the afternoon slightly cloudy sky, a gentle breeze moved through the streets of Garlemald and around the buildings. The main avenue was bustling with activity as crowds were starting to gather at the edges marked by gentle glow of blue from forcefield generated tape, kids resting on the shoulders of their fathers and some vendors making use of the gathering to sell some things such as drinks, snacks, and even banners.
Dark metal oval airships also were about in the skies, low enough to be seen by the people but high enough to avoid being to close. Massive projector screens were on both sides as they easily hovered effortlessly in the air. For the moment the screens held a simple clock count down displayed by digital numbers as they marked down when the celebration would start. A glorious day for these people as they moved from one form of society to what it has become now, all under the direction, guidance, and rule of one man.
The Confederates get directed by way of airship drop off to a temporary area that has been setup for them, the Emperor, and for some higher officials later. The are is well illuminated and protected from the sun. There is drinks of all kinds here from the mundane water to assorted liquors, different types of foods ranging from seasoned chocobo to sauteed buffalo. There was even some odder things located here for those special guests that had a bit more different pallet from the norm, such as blood wines and rather raw seasoned meats. Though maybe not everything would fit someone's pallet, but they do seem to give it there best shot.
The seats are lined up in a slight grand stand fashion, so no one gets in the way of anyone's view and there is no set seating, beyond the top row which is set up for the high ranking officers of the Confederates and for the higher ups of Garlean Society which go directly below them. Each seat is the same though, black, hand crafted metal, with real gold markings, rather wide and the backside open for those extra appendages such as tails. The cushions are rather soft and are covered over with fine leather, including even the back as well. Next to each seat is a small table made the same way as the chairs, but for the table top, it is of highly polished black marble.
The only chair out of place, which sits with the officers of the Confederacy and oddly on the same level, is the Emperor's own throne, made more with gold then black, and draconic claws like shape feet and a draconic wing pattern for the back of the chair.
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
The man to direct the Confederacy to their chairs so they need it, is a tall Pureblood Garlean male wearing black armor with just as dark of cloth-like material. His hair almost a silver blond that hangs down just slight past his shoulders with part of it pulled back into a pony tail. The 'third eye' enhanced by a gold band around his forehead that stops before touching it. His facial features stern and strong, with his gold eyes bold, but ever so cold to anyone he meets his gaze with. Judging them quickly and sizing them up.
The others who also stand here as guards are in similar colored armor to the man and they stand at perfect attention, with Gunblades held in hand with the tips pointed upward and resting against their shoulders. They do not move, they barely breath, and one could easily mistaken them for a statue. If asked who any of these guards are by staff, they will be simply told they are here for everyone's protection and are a bit like the police force of Garlemald, under the command of the High Legatus. Remember that man with the long hair and cold gold eyes? That is who the end up motioning too.
Though where the Emperor is, is hard to say, but those with keen eyes who were also coming in may have noticed increased security on the roofs, at check points, and any other Confederates who were willing to lend their own forces to aid in keeping a watch would find them stationed at points as well. The Garleans were not turning down extra watchful eyes. There was also no sign of Gaius, any of his men, or really--- any of the other Legions, but given what today was and Gaius explained he would not be up to join them till much later, this probably should be no surprise.
- Garen (530) has posed:
Clad in a grey Imperial uniform, complete with the marks of a Captain in rank, Garen makes his way into the area the confederates were led to. At his side, he had the sword that he was granted from the Legatus Van Baelsar, but also kept himself a hidden blaster on his person. "Quite impressive...I'm eager to meet the local Emperor."
- Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari Takane, notably, isn't here either. Or her Century for that matter. No, they're getting ready for the ceremonies elsewhere. Somewhere, several of her Troopers are getting lambasted for the slightest of mistakes.
She's not going to accept any mistakes on this day of all days.
- Juno Eclipse (428) has posed:
It isn't very often that the presence of a black-ops pilot is requested to a formal event, but stranger things have happened. Thus it is that Juno Eclipse has arrived here along with the other Confederates, shunted off to the temporary area where there are refreshments away from the expectant crowds.
She's arrived in the dress uniform of an Imperial officer, but it seems ot bear a few extra embellishments, thanks to her close ties to the Confederacy. A double-breasted, grey-green dress tunic and trousers are finished with a black silver-buckled belt, black leather gloves, polished black boots, and the ubiquitous black short-brimmed uniform cap. Finishing off the ensemble are code cylinders tucked into the tunic's front and a rank plaque denoting an Imperial Navy captain; over the tunic, she wears a black greatcoat, with gold braid at the shoulders, a second rank plaque just in case the tunic's might be covered, and tiny Confederate emblems finishing off the gold shoulder-braid.
Apparently, he Galactic Empire really likes the colour black.
Indeed, she looks like the very epitome of professionality, standing straight at attention with her hands clasped behind her at the small of her back, blue eyes forward and watching the proceedings with some curiosity. It doesn't look like she's partaken of any of the food or drink just yet.
Somehow she doesn't look very happy to be here, in spite of her professioanl bearing.
Considering she's here and not working on the ship, that means she was probably directly ordered to take a break and attend this in his stead while he checked things over or went off to take care of Imperial or Inquisitorial business, or... whatever it is he's doing while he's not here.
Knowing her, she'd really rather be up to her elbows in starship guts instead of standing here and looking pretty in fancy Imperial dress uniform. Grump, grump.
- Mantigora (583) has posed:
"And for once in your life don't do something to embarass us," is the one and only warning Mantigora gives to her 'sidekick' as they debark the transport. Frankly she would of loved to have just left Skuzzler at home, but the space hamster was insistant on getting to do something besides work for a change. "These are highly valuable and important allies."
"Yeah yeah, Skuzzler know! No need to chew ears out every time," harumphs the Chua as he waddles after her. "No poking, prodding, or trying to coax into unorthadox experimentation. What think I am, insane?"
There's a pause as Mantigora stops and shoots a squinting look over her shoulder. To which Skuzzler looks the other way, pretending to brush something out of his moustach. "Don't answer that."
Mantigora just rolls her eyes and continues to the designated seating area.
- Soundwave (552) has posed:
Normally, Soundwave would not get involved in another world's celebrations. It is not his 'thing', to use an infuriatingly vague human expression. The crowds are mentally overwhelming, the noise levels exceed what is comfortable, and often the choices of music are suspect. To be fair, though, that applies primarily to Earthen festivals and holidays. Will a Garlean celebration be the same? Besides, it would be quite rude to refuse an invitation to a country where work has been made for alliances.
Soundwave steps off of the airship, his 30-foot height towering above most else. His armor plating has a healthy sheen, probably recently waxed, and he is without his weaponry as well. He also appears to have come alone, as his agents are nowhere in sight. Though he follows the directions to the Confederate 'holding area'/grandstands, he can easily tell that the sense of scale involved here did not account for Cybertronians. However, to spare the Garleans the embarassment of a perceived oversight, he silently moves to the side of the seating area where he would not block any foot-traffic and kneels down on one knee-joint, crossing his arms over the opposite thigh. This lowers his presence to no higher than about the upper-half of the seating area, give or take.
He inclines his head in greeting to other members of the Confederacy who have also arrived. Some he recognizes, such as Garen and Mantigora, but others he is not familiar with yet. He ignores the offered food and drink, as there's nothing offered that is compatible with a Cybertronian's system.
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
The High Legatus watches every, single, one of them with a critical eye. He takes note of the Garlean made weapon on Garen which causes him to raise an eye brow up slowly, before looking over to Juno Eclipse as she arrives in her dress uniform. Attractive-- but still an outside and easy for him to spot that slight disdain for being here. They both may make an excellent grump together, as he himself rather be anywhere but /here/, yet this was his duty.
As Mantigora and Skuzzler make their entrance, they may get a few puzzled looks by a few of those handling the food and drinks. While Mantigora may reminded them of some kind of mutated Au Ra, they didn't know /what/ to make of Skuzzler, though when they heard a sharp 'ah-hem' from the High Legatus off where he is standing, they quickly go back to work. One of them picking up one of the empty trays and quickly start to walk, before almost bumping into Juno, "A-ah, sorry ma'am!" He says with a nervous smile, before moving around her with a boyish grin and then just making his way out.
When Soundwave arrives, he catches a /great/ deal of attention, though once more, they try to not stare to much. A robot of his size is impressive to many of the tech heads around. They can be easy to spot as they just lean slightly out watching, attempting to get a good idea of /how/ he works. Compared to their own Magitek Machina, he far surpassed them and they knew it. Though if they stare to long, there may be someone smacking back of their heads and a few bark of orders.
As the timer ticked down closer, a few of the normal troopers without full face helms could be seen talking on their radios. Soundwave might pick up on it as well. The Emperor would soon be arriving for his opening speech and that meant all eyes on the prize.
As the was going on a few last minute things were being hooked up and a few signal checks could be seen with the airship monitors off on the corner edge of the screens. The crowds knew what that meant and they were getting more excited.
- Garen (530) has posed:
Garen looks over as everyone enters, most noticibly curious about Juno. "I see that your empire has a fondness for black, Ms. Blackout." He says simply. He moves over to the refreshments table, taking a small sample of everything, and pouring himself a small glass of liquor. "Hmm.....seems things are going to start up soon."
- Yari Takane (691) has posed:
~Elsewhere~
Centurion Takane has her men lined up properly, and in measured formal steps, paces across their lines. One or two soldiers gets a swat on the leg with the pole holding the flag of her country, and associated death glares. Dressed in her best armor, polished to a high sheen, her voice for once is loud to her troops.
"Emperor Solus zos Galvus will be watching /all/ of us. To fail here, to have a single misstep, is to demean our country in front of Emperor and Legatus. We /WILL/ bring Honor and Glory in front of the Confederacy and our leader today. Am I absolutely clear?"
There's a chorus of assents and snapped salutes. All in perfect order and formation. Yari smiles beneath that concealing helmet.
She has a good feeling about today.
- Mantigora (583) has posed:
To be fair, a lot of people don't know what to what to make of Chua. Even in their own space empire. Psychotic space gerbil mad scientist -race- barely begins to cover it.
But before Skuzzler can do anything to show why his kind are regarded as a grotesquely cute necessary evil endured by the Dominion for the sake of technological superiority Mantigora grabs him by the scuff on the neck and plops him in a chair. A shoves a sippy mug of safely non-alcoholic juice in his mitts to keep him quiet. "Watch, and do. Not. Touch. -Anything-."
Then she finally gets a chance to step back for herself and take a look around. Soundwave and Garen are given quick polite nods when she notices them. Despite technically not being on duty, she was still cautiously terse. It was a bounty hunter habit. This was the sort of event dissitent elements would love to ruin. Not that the Garleans are so easily disrupted, but old instincts die hard.
- Juno Eclipse (428) has posed:
Shifting her weight, the Imperial Naval officer ensures her hands are firmly clasped behind her back, standing rigidly at attention and watching the proceedings below. Her attention is only halfway on her observation, though. Her mind is something on the order of several dozen light years away, calculating the things she's going to need to do to repair the Rogue Shadow's wrecked engines. The ship is too valuable an asset to have sitting around, busted up, in the Empirical's private hangar.
In fact, she thinks, it might be prudent to finish just enough to see that the ship can fly, and then take it to the Citadel where she--
Juno's thoughts are rudely interrupted by a servant nearly plowing into her. Thankfully, her reflexes are keen for someone who isn't Force-sensitive, and a brief, frantic quickstep keeps her from being knocked over.
"Mind your step," she snaps the servant, stepping aside and giving him a purposefully wide berth. Thankfully she isn't loud or particularly angry with him, but it's clear she isn't really pleased by the sudden interruption. She snorts, quietly, as he weaves his way around her and takes his leave, tray in hand.
Half a glance is cast to Garen, and she doesn't look any more pleased by the Imperial Agent's interruption. She looks him over, apparently unimpressed. "Check your Condederate records, and you'll find a lengthy entry on the Galactic Empire." Besides, black goes with /everything/.
She settles her weight back into her at-attention stance, head canting slightly to regard the proceedings below. The sun is getting to be uncomfortably warm over her greatcoat, and her scalp is starting to itch under the uniform cap. It would be nice to take her leave of this nonsense early, but that's probably not in the cards.
Juno lets out a long sigh, reaching up and fingering a slender, lightweight comm piece in one ear; murmuring something under her breath.
Probably asking after the ship, and getting an unsatisfactory answer that is unsatisfactory solely because she's here and not there.
- Soundwave (552) has posed:
Soundwave can't really pick up on the thoughts of pureblood Garleans that well. They are certainly human-like, but something about them occludes their thoughts from being clearly 'heard' -- a trait that the Decepticon is supremely thankful for. Otherwise, he might not be able to last very long with the sheer numbers in attendance. That said, he easily senses the keen interest and curiousity of the Garleans around him without any need of his particular 'gift', but ignores them. A particularly long stare from a group of half-hidden techs somewhere behind him does eventually cause him to turn his head and peer at them from the corner of his yellow visor... at least until their superior catches them red-handed.
The radio frequencies, however, are not as well shielded and he overhears the conversations and orders being passed through the Garlean security forces. He emits a low melotonic hum as he straightens yet remains kneeled, and his attention diverts from the Confederate grandstands to the open area ahead of them. Not much longer, now.
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
Thankfully the stands and everything here was in the shade and as things start to get in closer, there is suddenly a /cold/ breeze as cooling units kick on, probably has everything to do with the Emperor on his way soon or maybe its like an automatic thermostat somewhere? Who knows with Garlean technology. Though it does also seem like black is the favored of all 'evil' Empire's everywhere, doesn't it?
The High Legatus then speaks up at last as he looks over to those still standing about, "Please go to your seats." He says with a crisp, cold voice. "His... Radiance... will be arriving shortly." Now while those with non-trained ears may not catch it, but there is a great deal of disdain in the High Legatus' voice about the Emperor. It doesn't seem all Garleans like their eighty plus year old Emperor.
...Elsewhere...
Further down the street the Legions are starting to form up, one by one. The mass groups of thousands of men being directed by Centurions, Tribunes, and their Legatuses alike. Each with their nation flag and their Legion's own as well.
As the group starts to form, Yari will notice a very familiar group going by. Dark black armor with green cloth lining and traces of green in that black armor. Soon followed by a woman with sleek armor and a serpentine like designed helmet... A woman she should know ever so well. As she walks by as the Fourteenth Legion even starts to file in and Gaius own voice can be heard over the distance, the woman casts her gaze to Yari for only a moment.
It was a moment that she looks upon the Centurion before gently nodding her head only in slight, before seeming to walk on not missing a step before she calls out to her own men, "Step lively! Our Legion will not be out shined by these homeland dogs!"
One of the other Legatus in jest to her words suddenly lets out a bark like howl, before there is some laughter, before another one could be heard yelling over to her. "Let us hope you Othardian soldiers don't trip up on solid ground, haha! Though we can't blame them for being such light weights!"
"All of you!" A much older voice barks out, a man wearing solid white armor with grey, much like the rest of his Legion. His helm with a ram horn humanoid like design and much more bulk in frame. There was a Staff on his backside with two war hammer heads. "Though while we may all gist with one another as fellow Legatus, let us not forget who we all are today! I do not think our Emperor would be glad to hear such remarks, even in play, being tossed around like children."
It seems the older man's words hold a great deal of weight as many return to handling their own.
- Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari is just criticizing some poor Trooper when a very familiar indeed Legatus walks by. The interplay between the two is the strange, distant familiarity. Yari's tail flicks ever so slightly, and the nod is barely perceptible. A tiny thing, but it's enough to boost her confidence.
Her Mother is here too. No, there will be no failures if Yari has anything to say about it. Thankfully Yari is smart enough to not get involved with the bickering and japing, turning about and glaring at one of her own laughing soldiers. A moment on her armlet, and the poor Trooper's on double duty for the breach in protocol. Like a good underling, she does her best to ignore the words being bandied about, or at least appear to.
"Backs straight, and I better not see one foot out of alignment with the Trooper next to you!" Inwardly, she regrets not bringing a stick to swat her troops into place with. At least they're all more than in shape. All that training and practice has paid off.
- Mantigora (583) has posed:
Tch. Always somebody that wasn't happy with the guy in charge. Every Empire has them. But he can be grumpy all he wants, it's the people that would actually enact on something that Mantigora would be worried about. Otherwise, it's none of her business. She's just sitting and enjoying the show, amused at the similarity to some of the military processions she's seen in the past.
She does lean a little to the side to get a better look at the group with the female Legatus though. Is that the one that had been Yari's previous officer that Gaius had mentioned?
- Garen (530) has posed:
Garen casts an eye towards the High Legatus, picking up on that disdain. He made a note to bring that up with Gaius at a later date, but for now he took a seat. "Testy, Ms. Blackout...or just not a fan of formal gatherings?" He asks. His tone of voice made it difficult to tell his he was joking or if he was serious. Still, the agent kept his eagle-like eyes darting around, always suspiscious.
- Juno Eclipse (428) has posed:
"Special Captain Juno Eclipse," the blonde pilot responds almost reflexively. So long as she's not on an operation or attempting to obfuscate her identity towards neutral parties, she has no problems with the use of her name and rank. Juno shifts her weight slightly, glancing back to Garen a brief instant or so only after she's addressed. She keeps her hands clasped behind her at the small of her back, and continues to generally look like a model officer.
It's something she's gotten really good at, with Darth Vader as her boss.
"No." A simple answer for a simple question, and it sounds a little weary. "I have work to do." She shakes her head, unclasping her hands long enough to reach up and adjust the short-brimmed cap. "I'm afraid the Rogue Shadow is a bit worse for the wear after Lute needed extraction from the Fleet Daughters' ambush. It's going to take me a few more standard days to repair the damage. In a word, the longer I stand here, the longer it isn't getting done."
- Soundwave (552) has posed:
Soundwave can sense the excitement of the crowd building, the shared projected anticipation becoming a vibrant hum in the back of his mind. There is no reaction to the tiny note of hesitation in the High Legatus' voice, as if he hadn't noticed it at all, but he does note it for the future. All is not as unified as one would believe... but is the High Legatus a Garlean version of Starscream? Unlikely, but a possibility he can't help but consider.
As it is, at least he seems to have been forgotten with the military parade about to begin. Good. He would hate to take the spotlight away from the Garleans simply by being present.
- Garen (530) has posed:
"I see. Even so, you should find some time for enjoyment, Reserve Captain Eclipse." Garen says. He sampled the fried chocobo first, finding it to his liking. "I'm surprised that your Inquisitor allowed your ship to be used for Lute's ambush...let alone left you unharmed for it's damage...times really do change, it seems." He muses a bit.
- Mantigora (583) has posed:
So many foods, so little time... and someone even left something a bit more on the raw side. How thoughtful. Matigora picks up a piece of seasoned meat and just takes a big bite out of it right there, chewing on it thoughtfully like it was an eloquent meal. Those fang like teeth aren't just for looks. "Tender but uncooked, flavorfully seasoned, much appreciated." She takes a glass of wine and walks back towards the seats like nothing had happened. Predatory aliens, go figure.
- Juno Eclipse (428) has posed:
"Special Captain Eclipse," Juno corrects automatically. "I'm not a Reserve Captain." Stoically, she ignores the beginnings of a headache threatening to settle in behind her eyes. She watches as the Imperial Agent files off in search of food, but she doesn't follow, holding her position near the edge of the viewing area.
"It wasn't used for Lute's ambush. It was used for his extraction, as per our agreement with the Confederacy as a whole; it is to be used for the transfer of Elite assets, whether those happen to be personnel or material resources. This agreement is, in fact, one of the stipulations regarding my personal alliance with the Confederacy; I have the authority to requisition additional ships, but the Rogue Shadow is faster than anything else in the Imperial Naval fleet. It was a time-sensitive extraction."
In other words, if she didn't get over there as fast as she did, she would've been scraping Lute's remains off the sidewalk with a spatula. No, thanks. She's not a coroner. No dealing with corpses for Juno. She lifts her chin slightly at Garen's observation.
"My Inquisitor allows me a great deal of free rein, trusting me to conduct my affairs for the good of the Confederacy and the Empire both. As for that, I was not uninjured, but my wounds were minor, and certainly of less severity than Lute's."
Half a glance is flicked at the drinks, and she wonders off-handedly if there might be anything alcoholic in there... Corellian whisky? Eyeblasters? Oh, be still, her beating heart. But no, she resigns herself with a quiet sigh, she's /technically/ on-duty. Alcohol and duty do not mix.
Absently, she wonders if Galen's found her stash of cheap Corellian whisky while cleaning out the detritus from the Rogue Shadow. Or PROXY. She decides she'll deal with that later, and murder them appropriately if they've done anything untoward to her private stash.
"I must admit, I'm surprised to find you here, Ensign. Aren't you with your own Empire's Intelligence division? I imagine you must not find very much pleasure in crowds."
- Mantigora (583) has posed:
"Sometimes best place to hide is in plain sight," Mantigora comments off-handly as she walks by Garen and Juno.
- Garen (530) has posed:
"I am, but my specialty is with infiltration. Think of me like a double-agent. As for crowds...They're not an issue for me sinse they make a fine method of escape, as well as for flushing the game, so to speak." He then has a quick sip of his drink. "It also helps being chiss, as well. Who would suspect the blue-skinned alien of being an agent of the sith empire?"
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
The Timers strike 0 and there is suddenly silence from the crowd as drums play, an impeial sound as from along the sides as several men march out beating the drums to signal the start of the event, the camera feed trains on these drummers, before a voice cuts over to the screens as then the imperial symbol is shown (( http://goo.gl/4bNQae )), "On this day we mark a remembrance to life before our great Emperor. A day of poverty. A day of inequality. A day where politics held a great hold over our nation and people. A day when oil lit our streets and technology was only a whisper of a time that would never be."
The flag soon changes as it shows the beginnings of factories and troops marching, "Yet the day came when our Emperor was born and with the alliance of the family of Darnus and Garlond, the Republic of Garlemald was changed forever. Magitek was born, wars were won under his name and leadership, and after we had conquered our neighbors and those across the seas, it was on this very day was his glory noticed by the Senate house. It was on this day did our Emperor, Solus Zos Galvus, rose up and took charge. For we became the Garlean Empire that we are today!"
The crowd breaks into a cheer to the announcement, people chanting the Emperor's name, as the image of the Garlean Flag returns to the screen, though by another drum roll, do the people settle back down once more as the voice shortly continues. "Yet this day also marks a new beginning for us. While the Fourteenth Legion was sent out into the new world, we have been working on new alliances and allegiances with an equal, if not greater force to our own."
"There military superiority and equal desire of conquest stands with us on this day and stand before all of you. Cast your eyes to the stands, people of Garlemald, for with us this day is the Confederacy!" The crowd soon all looks at that way, there is a long moment of silence as it seems the people are not sure what to do, until one man breaks the silence, "To The Future! To The Confederacy!" That one man causes the crowd to cheer out among the crowd.
The one man, gets a look in direction from the High Legatus who continues to stay at his post, those eyes of his not looking all to impressed by these events.
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
(( BGM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJNR00QQKWs ))
Then the drums beat again, the crowd settles down once more. Then the drum beat changes, as they starts to march in place to the beat of the drums. It would be obvious soon for those in the stands, as they start to hear the snap salute of boots and soon the sound of marching feet behind them, one by one, mixed with the sound of a cane impacting the ground with perfect cadence to a walk.
As it comes ever closer the crown of the Emperor would first to be seen, a gold dragon upon his head, soon the dark heavy armor that he wears with the cape that hangs down low, almost dragging upon the ground behind him. His face showed his age and the eyes giving a stare of a man who had seen a great many things. A man who was not afraid to kill either. The white beard well trimmed, but went down to his near belt line and while he walked straight, there was a slight off gait to his steps. (( http://goo.gl/TG3lcR ))
He soon came up to the stands and to stand before his throne, the High Legatus snapping a salute before following position to stand beside the very throne with his hands idly behind his backside. There was a strange family resemblance between them. In the eyes really.
The Emperor looked to each of the members of the Confederacy present, before looking out to the people, "People of Garlemald! My people!" His voice carrying easily and well for his age. "Today is a glorious day anda day we should be humbled, for before us stands our greatest of allies and will aid us into the bright future! We shall stand tall with the Confederacy and we shall stand with them through glory and turmoil!"
He then places both hands on his cane as he takes a moment before he continues. "Tonight, while you sleep in your beds. Remember this day and remember that it marks a new era for us as a people. For us as a society, as we will continue to thrive ever forward, ever stronger, and ever more powerful. We will not turn away from this new world and we will not alienate ourselves to the new foes that we must face. For we are Garlean!" His hand extends out, it gripping into a tight fist. "We are people of great measure and great resilience! Let us show the Confederates before us that /we/, the Garlean poeple, are worthy of their might and we worthy of ourselves!"
His hand then moves out to the side with great power as the cape moves slightly. "Let the parade... Commence!"
As soon has those are spoken the First Legion marches out followed by the next and the next. It will take a bit before the Fourteenth is seen coming around the corner, but each marches with great precision and each marching with a different drill style in the front. For they heard the words of their Emperor and they will do him glory.
For as they the first Legion comes to pass the stands, the all turn to face and march almost side ways as they snap salute, roaring out, "All Hail!" before continuing to march on. The next does about the same, though they are a bit more snappy as they turn one by one in perfect near unison like a wave effect.
The Emperor though sitting by this point, watching each with a very critical eye, though he does look to the Confederates present as he then speaks to all those here, "I do hope you enjoy the march. Each Legion consists of around three thousand to six thousand men. The Fourteenth being one of the larger Legions, whom I am sure you are familiar with, yes?" The Emperor then turns his eyes back to the streets. "Each with their purpose and each with their colors. They all do themselves proud."
- Garen (530) has posed:
Garen nods towards the Emperor. "Last time I remember hearing so much fanfare, it was relegated to the sacking of coruscant." he said low, mainly to himself. He takes a moment to watch as the First legion walks by. "A pleasure to make your acquiantence, Emperor. I look forward to further assisting your Legati and soldiers."
- Mantigora (583) has posed:
Mantigora remembers having to march like that. She always found it kind of silly because you never maintain a perfect march like that on the battlefield. But that wasn't the point, the point was to hone that syncronization that would allow them to act as one in combat. A single engine of conquest. A warmachine more than the sum of it's parts.
Skuzzler is still sitting in his chair, actually behaving himself. That or hypnotized by the almost machine-like precision of the march. At least for once Mantigora didn't have to worry about him. First time for everything.
"If the Fourthteenth is any example, Emperor, your entire force is surely a formidable prescense." Mantigora smiles just enough for some of her fangs to show, without being too disturbing. "I would pity those who oppose you, but it is their own fault for being foolish."
- Juno Eclipse (428) has posed:
The blonde pilot reaches up to adjust her cap again, glancing Mantigora's way when the bounty hunter passes by, but apparently she has nothing to say to that. Oh hey, and Garen's still talking.
She casts a dubious eye to the agent, but she doesn't comment in response to that, either. Hopefully he means 'undercover agent' and not 'double agent,' because the latter generally implies that he's working with his enemies at the same time he's working for his Empire, and somehow she doubts the two would coexist very well. If it's anything her Empire, superior officers would gladly have their traitorous underlings shot.
Folding her arms, she looks away from Garen and Mantigora, arching one pale brow as the timer reaches its countdown. It's just as well she's given up on the conversation, because the sound of the procession drowns out any chance she might have at getting a comment in edgewise.
It's the same as any other Imperial procession; a great show and to-do to raise morale and glorify the power structure and the sweeping institution. If this place is like any of the Imperial worlds, she thinks, there's likely going to be a stark rise in enlistment after this parade. It seems to be quite the grand affair, even by Galactic Imperial standards.
Standing straight, she keeps her arms folded, head tilted slightly down to regard the procession and narrative below and--
Oh, hello, there is a crowd of countless thousands suddenly looking her way and cheering. Her face flushes just slightly, and she reaches up to tug her uniform cap lower over her eyes. She's as uncomfortable under scrutiny as any bounty hunter or intelligence agent. Once upon a time she might have thought it a little nice that her efforts garnered some recognition, but those days are long past.
Fortunately the crowd's attention shifts back to the event at large, and she feels her stress levels ease, watching for her first glimpse of this mysterious Emperor himself. A withered old man, though, that's a surprise; no matter how proud his bearing or what respect he commands. How long will his reign last before he's done in by power-hungry subordinates?
You're being cynical, Eclipse, she scolds herself. These people are supposed to be your allies.
Her eyes linger on the crowd as she half-turns aside, reaching up to surreptitiously finger the comm unit at her ear again, murmuring something quiet into it while she watches; when she straightens again, she remains with her arms folded over her chest. Blue eyes flick over to the Emperor when he speaks.
"I'm afraid I have nothing to point out that my allies haven't already said." She inclines her head in respectful gesture. "Your Legions do you proud, Emperor."
- Soundwave (552) has posed:
Soundwave watches the screens with great interest, likely recording the event for later scrutiny. The history of the Garleans is fascinating indeed, and he can see common ground between them and Cybertron's own past under the Functionist Council. Small wonder he and his agents have found allegiances easy.
When the crowd is directed to the Confederates in attendance, the immediate silence is a little... worrying. There has been rumors that not all of Garlemald was in agreement with outsider involvement... but the cheers do not take long in coming, breaking the tension. So far, so good then -- though the High Legatus is starting to bother him a little more...
The Emperor's appearance gains a respectful deep bow of the helm from the Decepticon spymaster. Though it seems that the Emperor's health has not deteriorated since last they met at the Garlemald Christmas Ball, it has not gotten any better either. But surely that is merely due to advanced age? The eyes speak loudest, and it is quite clear to Soundwave that Emperor Solus Zos Galvus' will and mind are as strong and sharp as ever.
As the parade commences and the Legions pay their respects as they march past, Soundwave turns his head faintly as the Emperor speaks to the Confederates. "-Affirmative.-" This is stated as an overall response, but mostly in agreement with Juno in particular. He too can find little to say that has not already been said. "-It is an honor to be here, Emperor.-"
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
The Emperor looks over to Garen, "And yours. As Gaius Van Baelsar will be continuing to focus on the Multiverse, I am sure the aid given shall never be in question." Though his attention drifts to Mantigora as she speaks up to him as well. Those eyes judging over stranger appearance, but the gaze quickly looks directly in her predatory eyes. Yes, he remembers this one. "So far the only force who stands in our way of entire conquest of Hydaelyn is Eorzea. We lost a Legion to those wretched lost souls and the last of the Darnus house, but we shall prevail."
His gaze drifts back to the streets for a moment, "As we now have even stronger allies and we shall all benefit from Eorzea's defeat. That I shall promise."
Solus Zos Galvus then looks to Juno as she speaks and he notes her uniform attire, much as he did Garens, though he makes no direct comment to it. "That they do," His eyes go back to the streets. "But only one Legatus remains who remembers the old days well." There is a dark smile on his lips, a distant look in his eyes. Perhaps a question over who will die first in his mind. The Legatus who walks with no health problems to speak of or himself who has been crippled by the onslaught of war after war, along with some failed understandings of the technology they toyed with and what harm it could bring at that time.
How the young, he thinks, do well under the failures of their elders. Never having to suffer the same troubles or pains, but he knows they too will one day find something they had missed. Only by then though, it be not his problem to handle, but anothers. Though his attention is brought back as Soundwave speaks.
The Large mechanoid, ah yes, at the party as well. "Yes, an honor indeed to have you all before me as well."
The High Legatus' hand can only tighten over his other, though his face remains fairly neutral to the whole ordeal.
"How long have each of your served in your own forces?" The Emperor asks, "Legatus Van Baelsar speaks greatly of all of you. Has told me each of you serve not only the Confederacy, but another as well in some point in time, or still are."
At this point the Second Legion is starting to move through. Nothing of great note really...
- Yari Takane (691) has posed:
And then the signal is given, and Yari barks an order at her subordinates. With the Centurion at the head of her particular column, grasping her nation's flag primly in front of herself as she walks, it's a chorus of boots and orders that leads the disciplined group of soldiers down the road.
True to their training and preperations, they're in perfect unity as they follow Yari's lead, who in turns follows those above her. Though she remains outwardly calm, the words of the Emperor and the cheers of the people, /her/ people even if not by blood, fills her anew with hope and pride as they many legions before her march.
It'll be a /long/ time before they reach the Emperor himself, but that doesn't mean Yari is slacking off, maintaining that perfect synchronization so popular amongst military marches.
She could really, /really/ use a smoke about now though. Thankfully she's got a stash for after this is all over. Helmets like hers, too, do much to mask excitement, nervousness, and pure attention to detail that it takes to pull this off perfectly. Her quiet voice occasionally barks orders at proper intervals, keeping the pace behind the thirteenth legion as well as her own compatriots in the fourteenth ahead of her.
- Garen (530) has posed:
"I've served the sith empire sinse I was old enough to enter the Academy, so from about 8 year of age and I'm 25 now. We chiss mature faster then average humans." He says. Again, he notices the subtle changes of the High Legatus and decides to inquire. "I hope you do not mind my asking, Emperor...but do you have family in any of the legions?" He asks, one of his red eyes slyly lingering on the High Legatus.
- Juno Eclipse (428) has posed:
Half a glance is cast to Soundwave, and Juno offers a faint, almost imperceptible nod. See, droids are often sensible, although she's pretty certain he isn't some sort of droid. The specifics escape her; she would have to look things up. Aside from now not being the time, she hasn't got a datapad with her, and the computer aboard the Imperial Lambda-class shuttle she'd taken here is probably about as useful as two tin cans connected by a string.
The Emperor's faintly sinister smile is met with a perfectly neutral look from the woman, straight-backed and military-proper. Her mien is professional and calm, and she wears her officer's uniform well. When one's superior is Darth Vader, one learns to become a very good officer, and wear their professionality as the Dark Lord wears his black mask.
There are politics afoot here. She does not like politics, and so she prefers to... not precisely ignore them, but stay away from them unless she has no choice in the matter.
The Emperor's question, then, seems to take her off her guard. She blinks twice, and that seems to be the only sign to her non-expectations. Her head turns vaguely to regard the Emperor from the corner of an eye, though half her attention is till on the marching Legionnaires below.
"Six years, sir, not including my tenure in the Imperial Academy on Corulag." She looks over. "I have only served indirectly with Legatus van Baelsar, and rarely take direct action myself. Mission control and piloting is my specialty, sir; I was trained as a combat pilot."
Her eyes sweep the Legionnaires again. "The discipline of your ranks is most admirable, sir."
- Mantigora (583) has posed:
Mantigora doesn't flinch from the Emperor's gaze. Even if his body was not at it's peak from age, his gaze and the will behind it was as strong as ever. "It will be our honor and pleasure to help wipe the final stain from -your- lands when the time comes." For the sake of keeping the gathering presentable she doesn't go into the joys of the more gruesome aspects of combat. Not all races revel in the glory of war in the same way as the Draken do, and even some of those that do she's found to be a bit... put off by more visceral details.
"My people live to fight for the Dominion ever since it was inducted into the empire," Mantigora replies as she shifts so she can watch the marching groups as well. "I served for much of my youth in her military and was trained by one of the elder war strategists of my people, spear heading the initial footholds upon Nexus." Then pauses a moment to pick a bit of her snacking out of her teeth with a claw. "If it were not for the certain level of autonomous operation I would of remained in the ranks longer."
She eyes the bit of meat briefly, then picks it off the end of her claw and flicks it off. "Even as a bounty hunter though, my purpose is the needs of the Dominion first and foremost. It simply means I can utilize..." thoughtful pause, then a bit of her smirk again "... means not available to a soldier that must remain with certain protocols and regulations. I solve the problems an entire assault force would be... needlessly messy."
- Lute (188) has posed:
Lute, as per his usual norm, is fashionably late. And by 'Fashionably late', we mean, he was busy with some pointless tasks and then completely forgot about this. And so, he heads into the area, trying to join the party as soon as possible. He didn't even have time to switch to formal clothing: He's just in his normal casual clothes.
"Crapcrapcrapcrapcrap, should not be late for formal events like this."
Making matters even worse, he's not arriving in a sensible means. He's flying in on the back of Giratina. This is probably not the best method he could be approaching by. The fact that a giant ominous dragon-like creature is flying in on black wings, flying /right/ towards where the Emperor is, while so many legions of soldiers are present?
It's probably a stupid idea.
- Soundwave (552) has posed:
Soundwave emits another low hum upon the Emperor's question. Though his melotone does fiddle with the usual markers of context and emotion (as it's supposed to), his head tilts to one side as if to emote thoughtfulness. "-The Decepticons of my world started as an anti-government group founded by Megatron, a former miner who became an underground gladiator. Rumble and Frenzy -- my two humanoid agents -- were miners at the same facility and have followed him ever since. I and the rest of my agents joined later on, after the underground gladiator ring became more popular, and I have been one of Megatron's officers ever since.-"
Melotone or not, the Decepticon spymaster's voice turns markedly introspective. "-That was a very long time ago, especially if marked in standard years. We have been at war with Optimus Prime and his Autobots for almost that long.-" He will spare them exact time-spans, as most races have a difficult time wrapping their minds around a being with a lifespan that stretches into millions of years (if not longer).
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
The Emperor listens to their answers, though he addresses Juno first, "Ah, A combat pilot, hm? A good career choice, if I do say so myself. I always wanted to fly, but I was more of the ground ponder myself." He admits with a light, soft chuckle. "And thank you..." His attention goes back to the marching group. The Second Legion will be done soon it seems as the Third's banner can be seen coming around the corner. "Each member you see, rank by rank, had to gain so by their achievements and achievements alone. We do not judge by social class or by house name. If you want something, you work for it... with your own blood and sweat off your brow."
Then to Garen's own question, his gaze shifts to him for the moment, "The High Legatus is one such man, a few others located in more civil services." He doesn't seem to explain how far in the chain the High Legatus is, which seems to only cause a minor bit of scorn of the young man's face, though just as swiftly held back.
Then the Emperor nods to Soundwave, along with giving a nod to Mantigora's story. It was something to take into account. Though when Lute arrives in the most possible worst way. The High Legatus is quick to act, as he draws out his sword and swiftly steps around, but the Emperor holds up his hand, "Easy, Yae Galvus. Van Baelsar has told me of such members within the Confederacy."
The High Legatus tsks softly and steps back, his sword going back to its holster.
As the second Legion finishes, it is followed up by the Third Legion, wich in contrast to so many here, they ware sharp white armor with gray leather-like cloth and gray designs.
There drill team sharp with some twirls of their Gunblades and easy catches. Along the sides are a bit heavier armored walking units with scarf like cloaks, seeming to be designed more for winter weather. The Legatus between the drill and being followed by the rest of his men. His helm ram like-- he was the one who called out to the Legatuses and others to remember their places.
Once they hit directly in front of the stands, they turn to face the Emperor and salute, before changing the salute to another style, including even the Legatus himself, who holds it /far/ longer then his men does. It is obvious to see that the two are having a much longer stare with one another.
For once the Legatus breaks the gaze, the Emperor can almost be seen bowing his head in slight, but it does not stay for long. While the other two have spoken hails, it is odd the other did not, yet they were also the only ones to perform a very different salute as well.
Curious history perhaps?
- Juno Eclipse (428) has posed:
Although she tilts her head to listen to each speaker, Juno doesn't seem particularly interested in responding at the moment. Mostly, she's taking the conversation in, and making note of any facts that might merit further investigation... and half-heartedly thinking over the Rogue Shadow's repairs on the side.
Part of her cringes to think of what an unattended PROXY might have done to the ship's innards. Or maybe made those innards into outards. Alright, so he's not that bad, and he actually does know more about the ship than most living souls, but the simple fact of the matter is that she doesn't trust him.
She's shaken from her thoughts by something moving at the corner of an eye. When she sees Lute riding in on the back of Giratina, she stays where she'd turned over her shoulder, staring at him for a good ten seconds straight, eyes very slightly widened.
Well, yes, he said he was some manner of monster trainer, but it's one thing to hear it and another thing entirely to see a giant ominous death-ghost-dragon with one's own eyes.
Somewhat awkwardly, Juno clears her throat and turns back to the Emperor, nodding slightly at his comments, but she doesn't seem to find much to respond to there. Ew, stormtroopers. No thanks, she'd rather hop in the cockpit of one of those tin can eyeball TIEs. Even those have better chances than a stormtrooper...
She does turn back to Lute now that the initial shock's worn off, and raises a hand to wave. "Lute." A simple enough greeting. On the bright side, she doesn't seem to be angry about the Rogue Shadow any more. Or she's just hiding it better. She cocks a blue eye toward him, speculative; she herself is in full Imperial dress uniform, including a double-breasted grey-green dress shirt and trousers, polished black boots, black gloves, her black uniform cap, a black military greatcoat with gold braiding at the shoulders, and little Confederacy emblems finishing the shoulders. Quite smart-looking, all told; she makes the uniform look good and professional. "You look like you're feeling better," she offers. "How are those wounds healing up?"
- Lute (188) has posed:
As Giratina lands, there is a bit of a burst of wind from its wings. Not much, but enough to probably give people a bit more pause. Lute simply just jumps off of Giratina, landing crouched and stylish. He rights himself, dusts himself off, and then pulls a Pokeball out, to recall Giratina. He casually begins to strut over towards a chair, carrying himself with pride and conceitedness. He takes a seat close to Juno, smiling. And, thank god, he doesn't just casually wave to the Emperor. He gives the Emperor a quick, albeit somewhat proper, bow. Introducting himself to the Emperor, "Logan Trieste, known to most of the Confederacy as 'Lute'. A Trainer who raises a wide variety of monsters, albeit focusing on Pokemon."
As he sits, he leans back in his chair. One leg is crossed atop the other, and his left arm hangs casually over the back of the chair. In response to Juno's question about healing up, he simply lifts up his right arm. As he does so, his long sleeves slip down a bit. Not much, but enough to see bandages.
"Ariah got to me yesterday, and healed me a bit. Still feel pretty crummy, but I'd be able to fight if I needed to. Gotta appreciate the healing powers held by the Confederate medical team. ...Though, Aria tried to crush my arm because I decided to steal a kiss from her, but she at least healed that damage too." He shrugs a bit as he says that last part. And Juno is probably realizing it's a good thing Lute was close to unconciousness when she dropped him off. He might of done something terribly stupid.
He looks around at the others. He really doesn't recognize anyone he has actually met. Most of them he knows by reputation, or from reports. Which is not a problem for him. He wants to meed more. But, after a moment, he spots Mantigora. He gives her a slight wave. They met once, albeit quite briefly. They got a long alright, so might as well give her a wave.
- Mantigora (583) has posed:
Mantigora doesn't flinch when the giant ghost dragon shows up to deliver Lute, no matter how rediculous it may be. Mostly because the years of dealing with her own sidekick's crazy shinanigans have dulled her to such abrupt instances of craziness. The remark about the medic trying to crush him because he tried to kiss her does get a spiney brow raised a bit. Yeah, they got along okay, but trying to kiss her probably would not be a pleasant idea.
She does return the brief wave with a nod of her own before glancing back to the progression to see how it is proceeding.
- Soundwave (552) has posed:
Soundwave turns his head as Lute appears and almost causes a multidimensional incident by sheer presence. They have not met before, so Soundwave inclines his head in a silent greeting once Lute has settled down in his seat. He does note the Emperor speaking to the High Legatus by name... how interesting that the last name is the same. Perhaps the explanation of the meritocracy stretches deeper than merely the troops?
As the Third Legion marches past, the differences in their salute and the silence in which it is issued is immediately noted. The colors and regalia are also familiar, and he recalls a Legatus of advanced age at the ball in similar colors. "-Legatus Aries Von Polus, I presume?-"
- Juno Eclipse (428) has posed:
The pilot folds her arms, regarding Giratina somewhat dubiously. Having seen one of these things for herself, she can understand why he might be drawn to the idea of "adopting" a pet rancor from the Felucian ecosystem. This thing, whatever it is, could probably eat a rancor for breakfast... and it'd still be hungry, most likely.
"Ah, so that's your name. I hadn't been formally introduced," Juno offers, tilting her head politely to Lute, turned slightly. "A pleasure, Mister Trieste."
Not really a pleasure, but she's supposed to be diplomatic this evening. Oh, she doesn't hate Lute, even though he does dumb and decidedly offensive things from time to time. They have something of an understanding, although it might be one-sided, considering that peek into his psyche she'd gotten was while he was busy losing consciousness from blood loss and under the effects of Imperial, industrial-grade sedatives. Still, it was enough to show her that there's more to him than the shameless skirt-chasing.
At his admission, she just sighs, reaching up and resting her face in her hand for a moment. "I'd think you might learn from your inappropriate mistakes, especially when you're in that kind of condition, but that seems to be too much to ask..." The words aren't quite a groan, and she's perfectly well aware of his nature by way of reputation.
Besides which, Juno would probably make every attempt to break Lute's face if he did anything stupid to her. Whatever was left, Galen would use for lightsaber target practise... if Galen didn't get to Lute first, anyway.
Her hands drop to her sides again, and she fastidiously adjusts the cuff of a sleeve. "Well, it's good to hear you're up and about more properly. You'll have to tell me more about these Pokemon of yours some time. That wasn't quite what I was expecting," she adds, in reference to Giratina. "That was quite impressive."
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
As Lute goes to sit down and greets himself the Emperor simply gives the young man a nod of his head. "It is an honor to meet you, Lute, even if fashionably late." Solus showing a touch of humor it would seem. "And you say you are a monster tamer?" There was a stroke of his beard about then. "Interesting. Most interesting."
Who knows what may be going on in the Emperor's head about this, though the High Legatus gives him a quizzical raised eye brow.
Though as Soundwave asks the Emperor of whom it is, Solus Zos Galvus gives a nod of his head. "Aye, that is Aries Van Polus. Our oldest Legatus and an old comrade in arms long ago." There was a distant look in his eyes, before he tries to crack a sad, but thoughtful smile. "He has fared better then myself over the years, also the one whom has trained Gaius Van Baelsar for a time."
The High Legatus speaks up at last, his voice though remains cold. "They call him the history keeper, as for only his Radiance and Legatus Van Polus can recall the wars leading to our rise as an Empire. History that one day may only be read and no longer remembered."
"Hopefully remembered, for History has a tendency to repeat itself and mistakes should always be learned from the past to make way for the future." The Emperor seems to remind the High Legatus who only seems to go back to his cold, glaring stance.
Once the Legion passes a few more go by. The Sixth Legion may catch some interest as they are the smallest, but some are riding on Horseback with the their mighty steeds having a type of magitek armor over them as well.
Though after the Sixth there is an empty spot, marching of the Eighth could be heard in the distance, but there seems to be no Seventh Legion at all.
- Mantigora (583) has posed:
"Those that forget it are the most likely to repeat it's errors." By this point Mantigora has settled back in her spot to watch the parade going by, though still keeping a pointed ear on some of the passing conversations around her... though when a mounted Legion passes by she sits up for a closer look. You don't see many animal riders anymore where she comes from.
- Lute (188) has posed:
Lute breaks from answering Juno. Despite his closeness to her, he knows one thing about dealing with foreign leaders: Treat them at least with some respect. Even if he could care less about them. He smiles at the Emperor, nodding a bit. "Yes, I'm a monster tamer. I focus on a specific type called Pokemon, but I've got a number of impressive beasts. One, is called a 'Kaiju', of the Insurrector class. It's a gigantic crab creature. Eighty meters tall."
He is unsure if the Emperor knows what a 'meter' is, or what measurement they use in this land. Still, though, with most leaders, they'll at least pretend to know what a Meter is, and then look it up later. But, he smiles a little. Perhaps he can address one thing from Juno as well. She wants to know more about his Pokemon. The Emperor is curious as well. So, he might as well show off.
One after another, he reaches for the Pokeballs on his belt. He releases one Pokemon at a time, showing off the other five members of his team. with each, he says their species name. He also gives a sidelong glance towards Juno, just for a second. Enough to let her know this display is for her as well. "Tentacruel. Arcanine. Tyranitar. Tyrantrum. And... Registeel."
The Registeel has the shortest time on display. Largely because it simply lets out a beastial roar the moment it is out. While he feels the need to show off his Shadow Pokemon, he knows it's not safe to keep it out for /long/. He puts the Pokeball back, and smiles at the Emperor.
"Of course, those are just a small sample of my Pokemon. Most are still back at home. I have one other creature as well. The spirit of a sunken battleship. An Elite I-Class Destroyer. I'll admit, this is part of what brings me interest in this world. To look for a creature or two to bring into my care." He doesn't note, of course, that he's looking to do this in a /lot/ of worlds as well. While this place has some impressive beasts, he can find similar in other places as well, as he understands. The main one interesting him at the moment is Jormungandr, because unlike most incarnations of such a serpent, it might be /possible/ to make another one.
"I hope that I'm not boring you."
It's only after that which he turns to Juno again. He sighs, shrugging, "Well. She seemed pretty chill, so I tried for the kiss. I knew it probably wasn't the best idea, even then. But, I've been on a /roll/ recently. So, why not try? Besides, Ariah is cute. But whatever. She forgave me and told me not to do it again, and sometime we're going to go exploring ruins together. Platonically."
A pause. "...Though I'm guessing from your reactions to me, you'd probably harm me the same way if I tried it on you, eh?" He seems rather unphased by this line of thought. He can deal with rejection a bit.
"How is the ship doing, by the way? And how are your wounds?"
He continues to watch the procession. But, due to him coming in late, he's not sure if the lack of a seventh legion is anything to worry about or not. Really, he's just guessing that they aren't going in numerical order. Or something.
- Soundwave (552) has posed:
Soundwave inclines his head at the Emperor's reply. "-I understand.-" There is a low resonance under the melotone, something difficult to pin down, but it seems the words chosen are woefully inadequate. Perhaps he relates to the idea of a 'brother-in-arms' on a personal level himself?
Lute's display of his Pokemon team catches his attention for the duration, and he rumbles a soft chuckle. "-Intriguing.-" He has a private thought that perhaps his agents could be considered relative to a Pokemon team (he has six, after all, even if he only usually chooses from five of them). An interesting analysis to pursue at another time.
Though most of the other Legions pass by without remark (and he personally finds the idea of the Sixth Legion being a calvary unit almost quaint, given the emphasis on Magitek), the obvious absence of the Seventh Legion causes him to review past information. "-Emperor: earlier mention was made of a lost Legion.-" He motions to the blank space before them as the sound of the Eighth Legion's approach increases. "-Is this when they would have marched?-"
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
The Emperor listens to everything Lute has to say, though he raises up his brows in seeming to understand exactly what that height is. "Impressive in size for a creature, could perhaps revival another beast if not for already being long gone." Then Solus nods his head and watches the display of each Pokemon. "Remarkable creatures. Long ago, the Allagan Empire use to tame many beasts and dragon alike. It is not something we ourselves have mastered." The Emperor admits with a gentle smile.
"Perhaps one day though, such could be changed." Solus admits with a soft hmm to follow. It was food for thought, something to keep in mind and think over another day. When Soundwave does ask his question though, the Emperor looks over to Soundwave, "Aye. The Seventh Legion was operated by Nael Van Darnus, when events conspired as they did, we lost the last member of the house of Darnus an any remaining member was dispatched to other Legions... sadly some others were lost to the Eikons in Eorzea. Terrible event, but he was a fine soldier. Willing to do whatever it took to prove himself in the eyes of the Empire."
As the eight passes, the Nineth comes up, Yari Takane's former Legion and the woman with black armor and forest green. Her own Legion is not as bulky as the others and some Au Ra are actually in the mix. The drill team twirls their flags and swords with great flourish and command. The tassels move almost like water.
It is a beautiful display compared to the power that has been shown thus far and they too hail to those before them. March after march though goes by and at last comes the Legion they are all some familiar with. They are not only noted by the sound of unison of marching feet, but also by what comes around the corner leading behind the drill team. Large walking machines built on a cylinder base known as Juggernauts. The loud mechanical thump can be heard with each step, which ahead of those mechanical walkers are tall elf like humans holding up gun-lances as if leading the walking machines of where to go.
Along behind those are the Vanguards, mechanical drones that walk in perfect unison, a few of the older models up front with the newer ones with missile technology following up in the rear. The trail of the Fourteenth Legion is long and its soldiers keep their sights straight. It is also perhaps the most diverse in race, from the tall elves, to humans, and even to cat like people. There was even a brute of a man in dark armor, barking out armors with shield cannons at some, the one making sure the drones and Juggernauts stayed in line was a man in red armor with a draconic like helm, and the one leading a pack of Magitek Reapers in the middle was a woman in white armor with a body style similar to the elves.
To perhaps many, the Fourteenth Legion was perhaps the pride of Garlemald and the Empeor.

- Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari Takane's heart beats at potentially healthy levels as her troopers and herself finally come forth before her emperor. With a subvocal command, first herself and then each line of troopers behind her echo the same thing as they pass.
, "Hail to the Emperor and Confederacy! We are as one and ever at ready! Long live!" Comes their voices at one, each dipping into salutes followed by formal bows as the many before them have done.
After gazing from afar at her Emperor, she passes on by, peripheral view catching quite a few that she knows: namely Lute, Garen, and Mantigora. Could Sanary be out in the crowd somewhere? Her heart swells all the more.
It gives her more than enough strength to see her own particular duties done. Once she arrives at one of the many spots for flags, she pauses. Like quite a few flag-carriers before her, she pins the in smart, double circles in a show of skill and agility, easily the equal or better of her other Au Ra compatriots in her former Legatus' Legion. Even moreso that she likely manages to out-perform several other soldiers with just one hand. Her magitek arm, after all, isn't good for that kind of thing. Setting the pole finally in its place, she snaps a sharp, formal salute, before continuing off towards her Century once more to rejoin them in an orderly fashion.
- Juno Eclipse (428) has posed:
The use of creatures as a combat focus isn't exactly a common technique in any of the worlds she's ever visited, but when you have weapons that use focused lasers as their ammunition, they tend to invalidate most forms of close combat. Melee weapons are quaint, and the only thing that can even compete with most ranged weaponry are lightsabers... and that's because the people wielding those tend to cheat in massive ways.
Cheating cheatery /cheaters/.
Anyway, such things are present in more primitive cultures that she's witnessed. The Felucian natives, as she recalls, used rancors as ferocious battle steeds. Somehow, they'd managed to either gain the trust of the slavering horrors or outsmart them enough to stick a rider on them. Not that it spared them from the retribution of Galen's lightsaber... although it might have slowed him down a bit.
Even so, this is different. The multiverse produces all kinds, and she's not one to scoff at her fellow Confederates' abilities, especially not when she's seen them in action, at least to a limited degree. She watches as he calls forth the rest of his team, turning to face him more fully when he indicates the showing's for her benefit as well.
Her arms fall from their fold, and her jaw falls open, shoulders slumping just a little as he cycles through the other members of his team. True, she'd seen a few of them through the Rogue Shadow's sensors when she'd come to his rescue, but seeing them in front of you is different! Fortunately, she recovers her composure quickly enough.
Boring? "Not at all," she murmurs, folding her arms again and tilting her head slightly. "On the contrary, it's fascinating." She's always had an interest in xenobiology, although it's not something she's ever been able to indulge in too much; the Empire frowns on people whose interests stray too far from its cultured homogeny, and her duties keep her far too busy to pursue it seriously.
She just casts him a flat look when he considers his chances with her. And then, with an extremely blase expression on her face, she reaches up to thumb at the comm equipment in her ear. It wouldn't do to snap at her fellow Confederate in front of the Emperor, but she can subvocalise like a boss! Bless technology.
Only after she's let her hand drop does she answer his other question. "The whole bloody thing is in pieces. I have Inquisitor Starkiller's personal droid assisting with the repairs, but it's still going to take me some time to complete them. I'm thinking they should be complete by Saturday evening, and I should be prepared to take you to Felucia at that time." She shakes her head. "I'm afraid the Rogue Shadow won't be going anywhere before that, though."
She glances over, perhaps also noting the lack of a Seventh Legion and frowning slightly; flicking a brief glance to Lute, and then to the Emperor... but there's an explanation, and more Legions march past. "Impressive," she murmurs, absently tugging the hem of a sleeve into place.
- Mantigora (583) has posed:
When the WARMACHINES come into view is when Skuzzler finally sits up and takes notice... and then being so short proves to be an issue. "Bah! Too many people in the way." Before Mantigora can say anything he jumps out of his chair, but fortunately it's just to shove his way between legs and get to the front of the seating section for an unobstructed view of the Juggernauts and Vanguards.
"Pff." He's not doing anything stupid so Mantigora sits back again. The magitech warmachines are pretty impressive. And there's Yari's and her unit as well. "Mmm, with such a military strength it is only a matter of time, yes."
- Lute (188) has posed:
Lute smiles at the Emperor. Well. At the least, he managed to impress the guy a bit. Still, thoguh, he's now thinking of looking into the Allagan Empire a bit. If they train monsters, well... That could prove useful to his research.
"Well. If you ever look to change it, I can give you some of my own notes and research into the creatures I've encountered. Granted, such a thing isn't really something I can give away... quite for free. I'd need something in return, almost certainly." Yeah, he doesn't feel above trying to get stuff out of the Emperor. After all, that's a huge part of politics in general.
He just stares at the legion for a moment, though. Specifically, noting Yari. He smiles, and waves to her. Not super obviously so, though.
He glances back towards Juno, "Well, if you're interested in Pokemon, I could show you more later, then. There are a large variety. ...Though, the ones I have tend to be a bit more along the 'impressive' line. Though, don't underestimate any Pokemon you encounter. Even the ones that look cute can be quite dangerous. ...In fact, almost all Pokemon are capable of emitting a deadly toxin, if you train them to." Yeaaah, he has a flashback to Jigglypuff using Toxic. It's a bit disturbing and unexpected, usually.
And then, his glance at Juno turns into a look of fear and respect. He tries to hide the look, but he does a poor job at it. Juno, of course, would understand the look of fear. He just simply gives a nod of understanding in response.
"...Well, regarding the Rogue Shadow, and my payment. I have a bar of gold worth a moderate sum. I've been looking for something to do with it, so. I thin I'll simply cash it out, and give the credits to you for the repairs, and for the payment. Hoepfully this'll be fine with you."
- Soundwave (552) has posed:
Soundwave hums again. "-It is sobering to see stark reminders of loss.-" His head tilts slightly as the Eighth Legion begins to march past. "-Yet also necessary, if they are not to be forgotten.-"
The majority of the procession goes without further comment after this, though Yari's display as flagbearer of the Fourteenth Legion's drill team is noteworthy in and of itself. The fact she accomplishes the flag-twirling primarily one-handed is a testament to her skill as well. Yet, it seemed to be done out of necessity and not an overblown sense of one-upsmanship. He will have to meet this Centurion sometime.
Skuzzler's sudden interest in the Fourteenth Legion's mechanized ranks is only matched by the Decepticon's own. "-Fascinating.-" It still staggers him how many similarities there are between Magitek and Cybertronian technology -- more specifically, Cereleum and Energon. "-This is the first time I have seen the full range of your mechanized ranks, Emperor. Most impressive.-" Looking at the manpower on display as well shows just WHY the Fourteenth Legion was chosen to explore the Multiverse as well -- with such a wide range of races under his command, Gaius is well-prepared to deal with entire other worlds.
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
"Ah yes, where nothing is free even in alliances." The Emperor says with a clam tone to his voice, "Perhaps we shall work out such deals later, though I will let Van Baelsar handle such negotiations." Those eyes of the Emperor's looks to Lute, "Given he will one day see to all such matters if something was to happen to me."
Such a reminder causes the High Legatus' hand to tighten even more over his own fist, even as he watches the Fourteenth Legion march, those gold eyes bearing down on Gaius and as the High Legatus does so, it is easy to see that Gaius may be staring right back at him for only a simple moment. At least that may be what could be sense in the tension of the air.
The Emperor looks amused as Skuzzler finds the Magitek most impressive, "Garlond and Darnus would be pleased to know that their testament still captures the attention of many." Perhaps even spoke with Soundwave's own interest. Solus Zos Galvus them hms softly in thought. "Perhaps with some proper arrangements made, I could see a tour is done of our research and assembly facilities. Though some things will have to remain partly classified information."
"One never knows who eyes and ears could be watching that belong to the enemy."
There seem to be a few more Legions to follow, but for the most part the march was coming to a close and thus the celebration was moving elsewhere for the public after, because now that was done work crews would have to come up and clean up the mess left behind.
As people start to move to the next location a few actually manage to toss up some gifts to the confederates. Some be it flowers, some actual gift boxes that hold in them well protected bakery goods. One young boy, actually goes under the field lines and walks up to Soundwave with some fearlessness.
Those young eyes look up at the decepticon before placing down a bag of all things, "To the future..." The young lad says as he gives the decepticon a sharp salute and runs back off. Inside the box is a wired mesh frame of the Decepticon. Quickly put together, a bit messy, but a gift made it seems by the youth's fascination.
The Emperor watches the pay of respects come in and smiles humbly. "The people take well to all of you, while they do not have much to give...they give what they can."
It also here that Juno may recognize the metal boot steps perhaps better then any as Gaius makes his way up to them all from behind, though he does not approach further then a few feet behind everyone, before he kneels down, with his fist to the ground and armored helm lowered. "My Radiance, may I come forth to join thy side?"
- Juno Eclipse (428) has posed:
The variety of races and warmachines are all very impressive, but they're not quite enough to set Juno to gaping. She works with machinery of all sorts nearly every day. They're different from the things she's accustomed to, certainly, and they might warrant further study one of these days... but this is neither the time nor the place.
She's expected to be here as an envoy of the Confederacy, to a limited extent, and as a representative of the Galactic Empire. That means upholding a certain professionality. She does watch them from the corner of an eye, though; they'll be worth a closer look, later on.
To Lute's offer, she inclines her head. It would behoove her to learn more about these things, especially if they're common through Confederate and Union ranks... that it happens to satisfy a personal curiosity is entirely beside the point. Mostly. "I think I'd like that, Mister Trieste."
When he gives her that brief flicker of fear, she shows a fleeting smile. It might be an otherwise pretty expression, if not for the context he'd been given by private audio. One can probably fill in the blanks and come to their own conclusion, if they know anything about Lute's, erm... reputation. But that's quite enough of that.
"Gold? Do what you want with that," she says, with a dismissive wave of one hand. "The credits are more useful to me; while it's a fantastic conductor, there are more efficient mediums, and I'm no fabricator. I can tear a starship apart and assemble it again, but I've no skill at all in milling the components."
Her attention turns back to the Emperor, momentarily, and then to the High Legatus, noting the signs of... envy? Jealousy? She isn't sure precisely what the politics are, but there's obviously something going on. The man is not very good at hiding it. He wouldn't last five minutes around a Force-sensitive; emotion that strong has a tendency to jump out to those who know how to pick up on it. Hell, she's about as far as it gets from Force-sensitivity, and even she can see it.
Briefly, she reaches up and touches the comm piece at her ear again; there's no telling who she's speaking with, but one can guess it might just be Inquisitorial business. There's no real "off-duty" for her, after all; she's permanently on-call.
She watches the boy leave his gift, and raises a brow. That lad might have a future as some kind of craftsman, given how quickly he'd put that together... impressive. Too bad he belongs to the other-other Empire, and not the Galactic Empire.
Without even thinking, Juno turns on her heel and snaps off a salute to Gaius; she recognises the tread of his boots easily. Recognising people by tread is a handy skill, and one she'd picked up during her Academy days, when drill instructors would show up unannounced to inspect dormitories or roll cadets out of bed for surprise drills.
"Legatus."
- Mantigora (583) has posed:
"Wha!" One of the gift boxes manages to hit Skuzzler square in the head while he was gawking at the magitech, knocking him backwards off the guard rail. The chua bounces back to his feet with a snarl. "Why the little.... ooohoooh..." Which is promptly forgotten when he notices what was in the box. "... Delivery system need work, but contents deamed satisfying!" He grabs a baked bun and shoves it in his mouth.
"Surely that time will not come soon, but when it does, he will be more than capable of it sir." Though the comment is partially in being polite and respectful, considering the unshowing state of the Emperor's health.
The High Legatus tenses doesn't escape her notice either, but again, he doesn't -do- anything.
"An excellent display as expected, Legatus." She motions lazily in the space gerbil's direction, and he tosses her one of the warm buns. Before resuming shoving more in his own mouth. In comparison her bite out of the bread looks almost lethargic.
- Lute (188) has posed:
Lute, of course, is currently taking a moment to take all of the gifts that are being offered to him. Yeaaaah, he can't hide his joy at recieving presents. Even if the majority of them are basically junk to him.
He's almost like a kid at times, in a way.
- Soundwave (552) has posed:
Ah, there's the confirmation Soundwave had been wondering about. Yes, Gaius had stated before that he is currently next in line to the Emperor, but to hear it from the current Emperor himself is another matter entirely. Seeing the High Legatus' reaction, no matter how staunchly he tries to hide it, is only one further indication on top of everything else he has observed thus far.
To the Emperor's suggestion of a tour, Soundwave bows his head noticeably. "-Understood. I appreciate your consideration to allow even that much.-"
Though he largely ignores the gifts as they are tossed up to the box, having no need or interest for any of it, the boy walking up to him (yet not even tall enough to reach his knee-joint) gives him pause. The Decepticon's helm tilts noticeably in emoted confusion, staring down at the bag as his wide array of sensors give him nothing to run on, and he carefully opens the bag to reveal the wire-mesh depiction of himself within.
Oh, how his agents are going to give him untold amounts of grief for this one. Still though, if the boy happens to look back, he would see Soundwave silently snap his arm over his chestplate, fist firmly planted over the Decepticon insignia on the right side of his chest, in what is undoubtedly a crisp Cybertronian salute. A silent reciprocation and acknowledgement of the boy's bravery, if nothing else.
He carefully picks up the bag between two fingers and slips it into a hidden compartment in his left forearm. "-'Winning the hearts and minds', as humans say. I had almost wondered if we could be capable of it again.-" His semi-murmured ponderings are interrupted by Gaius' appearance, and the spymaster inclines his head in respectful greeting to the Legatus.
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
As Gaius ask for permission to enter, Solus Zos Galvus doesn't even look over his shoulder, but speaks with a hint of pride in his voice. "Come and join us, Van Baelsar. This company is, after all, much thanks to your own efforts."
The Legatus then stands up fully once more and gives a nod to Juno, before speaking to his Emperor. "Thank you, your Radiance." He then walks up to the others, before placing his hands behind his back. The High Legatus however only shifts his weight, those gold eyes look to Gaius before he speaks up with a cold tone in his voice, "Legatus, it is good to see you are in good health, as always."
Gaius then tilts his head faintly, but says nothing to the High Legatus, his attention seeming to go to the confederate members before him. The Garlean Commander speaks with some warmth in his voice, even if the full armor hides all expression. "Thank you, Mantigora. Centurion Takane did an excellent job leading the drill. I was hoping my Tribunes would come up here to join me, but they are aiding in making sure everything is ready aboard the Dreadnought."
Giaus then looks to Soundwave, "Soundwave, it is good to see you as well here."
Then the Legatus cants his head, before stepping around in front of Solus Zos Galvus, before he kneels once more. Taking a satchel off his hip and then raising it up to the Emperor with his gaze low. "My Radiance, a present from Lady Vi'Sharra who could not attend."
Though while such is being done, the High Legatus gives a nod of his head to everyone present and starts to make his way out, motioning for two of his men to stay behind on watch. Perhaps the High Legatus has had enough of all this.
The Emperor meanwhile seems to pay no mind to the fact his own blood has wondered off in some distaste, instead he takes the satchel from Gaius and goes to open it up, before looking at one of the odd bracelets. "Curious."
Gaius then stands back up once more. "They have the ability to detect any mental manipulation, your Radiance. The others are for us to use in research purposes, as her hope is that they can be used to not only protect us, but for future generations against the Eikons and those alike."
While the Emperor looks over the gift brought before him, The Legatus turned to all those present, he even looks to Lute, "I do hope you all have enjoyed the Celebration. If you have the time or desire, there is a part taking place down the south block with music, drinks, and dancing. Also rooms have been assigned to each of you if you desire to stay."
He then looks over to Soundwave, "We can also set you up with a hanger perhaps."
- Juno Eclipse (428) has posed:
Shifting her weight, the pilot goes back to clasping her hands behind the small of her back, posture straight without seeming too stiff. Either she's more relaxed than she looks, or she's good at lending the impression of being relaxed.
Tensions between the High Legatus and Gaius van Baelsar don't go unnoticed, and while the pilot isn't armed, she has at least one ally here who is. In a manner of speaking, anyway. The High Legatus is looking pretty tense, there, and hopefully he's smart enough not to do anything foolish in front of an audience of thousands as well as several Confederate Elites.
The gifts are regarded somewhat thoughtfully. Crouching down, Juno picks up a slightly battered but still serviceable boquet of flowers; pretty blooms in the subtle colorus of sunset-touched clouds. She lifts them to her face and inhales, smiling in spite of herself at the fragrance. Pity she hadn't caught which citizen had thrown them so she could thank them properly.
Nestling the boquet in the crook of an elbow, she turns to face the others as well, eyes flicking between van Baelsar and the Emperor proper.
At the mention of a party down below, Juno thinks she might like to escape from this gathering and go back to work. No sooner has she had the thought than she has another thought, and this one involves Galen forbidding her on pain of very bad things from working on the Rogue Shadow when she's as fatigued as she is -- even a crisp uniform and a touch of makeup can't fully hide the shadows under her eyes. He and PROXY will have to manage. It was his suggestion that she even attend this function in the first place; if nothing else, to get her out of the Empirical's hangar for a little while. She sighs, although the gesture is faint.
With great dignity, Juno raises her head, regarding the Legatus with half-lidded eyes. The expression seems one of resignation, and her half-smile is almost apologetic.
She'd really rather be working on the ship. She'd really, really rather be working on the ship.
"I'd be honoured, Legatus."
...Dammit.
- Mantigora (583) has posed:
Mantigora watchs the High Legatus leave with a gaze that looks more disinterested than it really is. Definately one to keep an eye on, if he ever lets that tension and resentment he tries to hide push him into doing something foolish. But again, until he does, there was nothing to do but watch.
"Your offerings are most generous, Legatus." As this is a polite formal gathering she sticks to using his title instead of by name. Then pauses to hook Skuzzler with her foot and drag him back to her side. "I'll make sure the furball doesn't ruin the decor." There is an unspoken "this time" as she glares at him.
His attempt at a mock innocent look is just more rediculous considering he's got breadcrumbs all over his moustache and goatee.
- Lute (188) has posed:
Lute smiles, looking at Gaius, and Juno. He has /some/ guess that this isn't Juno's preference. Though he doesn't really remember much of their time being treated by the Empirical's medical staff, he does remember one thing: She loves her ship. It's broken now. He has a guess at what is going on, though. He has been hearing bits and pieces about the pride the Garleans have, and how they must act quite highly at all times. And, he sees a similar necessity in Juno. It's something he respects. He really has little control of himself, in general. To be able to agree to something he would hate to do is /incredibly/ difficult for him to comprehend. But he can still recognize it happening.
And as such, he stands up, smiling. "...Thanks for the offer, Gaius, but. I should get back home eventually. If I had brought my wife, I might of stayed. But even then, well. I have other visitors to attend to on occasion."
T But, he gives a glance between Juno and Gaius, smiling, "...Though, actually, now that I think of it. While your offer to house Juno for the night is wonderful, I'm wondering if I could instead borrow her for a bit? We have a mission we're going to be going on soon, and I really want to hammer out the details. I would need to escort her back to the ship to do so, though. We're planning to go after a fierce creature soon, and I feel we need all of the preperation time as we can. ...I know it's rude of me to reject your offer, and it's rude to try and take Juno away from some free time, but."
He shrugs a little. And gives Juno a glance. Of course, he knows that if she /wants/ to stay, and he is misreading things, she can just deny his request. But she seemed /really/ connected to her ship, and it's broken up right now.
- Soundwave (552) has posed:
Soundwave rumbles in immediate response to Gaius' acknowledgement, but does not interrupt the discussions between Garleans. A pity the High Legatus decided to excuse himself before he blew a gasket (perhaps literally). An interesting discussion could have been had simply based on Soundwave's own observations of the man... but perhaps the High Legatus' small well of goodwill had finally dried up.
With the parade over and people dwindling, Soundwave feels a void growing at the back of his mind and only now realizes just how big of a 'buzz' he had been ignoring throughout the proceedings. Though he has had enough of crowds for one day (being telepathic and all), he can sense that two of his agents are looking forwards to stretching their legs before the night's out. "-I will decline the party to rest instead, but Rumble and Ravage would like to attend in my place.-" The two have also had the greatest interactions with Gaius' forces, so surely they won't get into trouble with the Garleans in the meantime.
As for the special arrangements Gaius suggested... "-A hangar is not required. I will be in my alternate form.-" Oh right, they haven't /seen/ that yet. That's going to be interesting. He pauses to consider something, even tapping his faceplate for a moment. "-A room greater than eleven feet in height and above-average square-footage will suffice, if such is reasonable. Mainly to accomidate Rumble.-" Gaius and Rumble have met before, so that should not be difficult to envision. Worst comes to worst, Frenzy will be an equal comparitive.
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
While Gaius' own face can not be viewed, he does note Juno's own expressions, while something seems off, he can not put his finger on what. The woman was good, he'll give her that, but this was not a place, nor time, to press the issue and see if he could figure out what it was. He was no mind reader after all and while sharp to details, some details could still slip by him.
This means he simply gives Juno a nod of his head, before looking to Mantigora. "Well, if you are concerned for your friend here. I know two troopers who have former experience with him would be glad for his aid in breaking down a few of the older Vanguards for storage." Hey, it will keep Skuzzler busy, right?
When Lute speaks up, Gaius seems to look in his direction, though it is hard to tell with those void-lens in the helm. He tilts his head a touch before he speaks up. "Of course. I do remember the mission operation and the creature you are seeking, Lute. Including the use of the Rogue Shadow and Juno's quiet dismay of wanting her ship in such an environment." He does not forget these details easily. "Though taking part myself, well, we will have to honestly see if such is still possible."
The Legatus then places out his hand toward Juno and Lute both, "Feel free to leave and discuss such matters in private." There was a pause then as he looks to Juno, "If I can not make it, I do hope the mission goes well and that the Rogue Shadow stays whole... though I doubt that be a problem given your own abilities, Juno."
Gaius Van Baelsar then looks to Soundwave, "Very well and Understood. I will see to that then."
As Gaius has been talking to each of them, Solus Zos Galvus has already packed back up the bracelets and went to stand back up, using the cane to aid him a bit. "Well, I shall leave you all in the Legatus hands. Enjoy your time here in the company of the Empire and may glory find you all." Then the Emperor gives a polite nod of his head before he goes to make his way out.
Though as he walks, Gaius can be seen shifting his weight, watching closely, as if almost ready to spring, to act. What was he so worried about? Given the Legatus hides his body language well, this was one of the few times, he seems to be displaying it.
Yet after a bit, Gaius seem to settle back into a more proper stance as the two guards stepped in. Leaving him with a minor tilt of his head like a slightly lost puppy dog.
- Juno Eclipse (428) has posed:
The pilot glances at Lute when he pitches his unexpected offer, and her surprise shows in the subtle arch of one pale brow. Now, that's an unexpected rescue; she wouldn't have expected him to pick up on certain key points of her personality so quickly. He hadn't exactly been lucid the last time they'd met.
Still, she's not the kind of person to ignore a good turn, especially when it's in a situation where her hands would be otherwise tied. She'll have to discuss reducing the fee of his trip to Felucia for that. Hm, a good twenty percent should suffice...
"While I'd love to accept, I'm afraid Mr. Trieste does have a valid point." Juno shakes her head, shifting her grip on the boquet of flowers. Maybe she'll set these up in her personal quarters. They smell quite nice. "I've got a great deal of preparation to do before I can deliver him to Felucia, and some of that includes mechanical preparation to the ship."
"I'm sorry, but this mission is under a bit of a time limit, or I might be more inclined to accept your gracious offer." Her smile is decidedly apologetic. On some level, she really does feel bad about turning down the offer, but this /is/ a legitimate reason with which to do so. "Another time, Legatus. Emperor. I'm certain I'll have other opportunities to return here."
Her smile thins a bit at Gaius' blatant pointing out of her displeasure. "Then you'll understand why it is that I have such interest in making preparations, Legatus. Part of these include structural reinforcement, and a treatment of fungicide..." Felucia. It's the Planet of Cooties. Seriously. "Indeed. I hope you have the opportunity, Legatus, but I understand fully if you have prior obligations. Thank you."
Once the others seem interested in dispersing, she snaps off a razor-sharp salute, without so much as upsetting the balance of the flowers balanced at her elbow. "It was a pleasure and an honour, Emperor. I will certainly be filing a favourable report of the event with my own Imperial superiors."
On the other side of the coin, Gaius' unease doesn't escape her, either. Could it be to do with the High Legatus' own obvious strain? Ah, but there's not much point in thinking about it. The politics of this land are well beyond her, and it wouldn't do to embroil herself in another realm's problems too closely. Surviving in the Galactic Empire at her rank is enough of a tall order.
"If you will pardon us, then. Legatus." Juno inclines her head in respectful gesture, and turn turns to go, beckoning for Lute to follow and keep up with her brisk strides.
Only after they're well out of earshot does she offer a relieved sigh.
"...That right there is worth a good twenty percent reduction in my fee, Mister Trieste..."
Why, no, she's not rushing him towards where she'd docked the Lambda-class shuttle, not at all. She's definitely not in a hurry to get out of here and back to the Empirical! Whatever would give /that/ impression...?
- Lute (188) has posed:
Lute, of course, is a bit more comfortable taking it easy with Gaius, as opposed to the Emperor. And so, he just casually smiles at Gaius. "Well. Thanks for letting me steal Juno away. This might be overpreparing a bit, but..." He glances at Juno. The whole bit against protecting against funguses surprises him. Is this planet really that much of a shithole? "...Well. We're better safe than sorry. Plus I've been on guard recently. Been pissing off a /lot/ of people."
He waves as he and Juno leave, "See you, though. Good luck. You better stay on guard on all angles too, okay?" He doesn't specify, but really, it can just as easily seem as 'watch out, Union could be anywhere' to 'that dude totally wants to kill you and his father and take the throne'.
And, once away from the party, with Juno? Lute releases Giratina. He gives her a glance, and smirks. "Hey, really? That was the least I could do. ...I don't remember a lot from that time in the medbay, but. I remember you talking about your ship and how much you like it." He will, of course, part ways with Juno once she reaches the Lamdba-class. He got her out of here at least!
- Soundwave (552) has posed:
Soundwave rises to his feet as the Emperor excuses himself, once more saluting in Cybertronian fashion (properly this time!) until the Emperor is safely on his way. If he's picking up on Lute and Juno's impressive bluffing afterwards, he lets them continue all the way out the proverbial door. It's more amusing watching things like that.
He turns to the side and presses a button to his shoulder. "-Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage: eject.-" His chestplate opens and three cassettes fly up and forwards out of it, transforming into a red-and-black robot, a purple-and-blue robot, and a black metallic panther respectively before they land on the ground.
Rumble and Ravage both stretch, clearly glad to be out and about now. "Free night for us tonight, eh Boss?" Rumble asks, grinning up at the spymaster.
"-Within reason,-" Soundwave warns before he transforms, shrinking in size as his shape folds into a handheld tape recorder easily holdable by a standard human(oid). In this case, it falls into Frenzy's hand, which easily envelops the device-based form.
Ravage shakes his head and takes a seat, looking almost stoic compared to Rumble's excitement. Typical feline. "I suppose we're ready, then."
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
The Legatus watches as Lute and Juno leave, there is only a minor lowering of his head gently to Lute's wording about 'watch the angles'. Perhaps once day he'll share the story of the Heirsbane and why the Emperor gave it that name, which has now gone down as a name to any and all in the Garlean Empire.
It was a weapon that none wanted pointed in their direction these days.
Once Rumble, Frenzy, and Ravage eject, Gaius has to give a minor nod of approval, including even observing Soundwave transform into such a /small/ size. It was-- heavily impressive. "Well then," The Legatus says looking at who remains.
"We shalt drop off the 'sidekick', I will have Livia escort the rest of you to the party location whilst I get myself changed into my dress uniform and I will see you all there." The Legatus then easily turns on his heal, "So aye, let us be off then." And he'll lead the way.
Though he really wishes he didn't /have/ to do this and more importantly, he rather just be back up in the air, In the sky, away from all this nonsense.
