- Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Summer. Not just a season, but an area of the Multiverse where said season seems perpetual. It is here, in one of the many towns that dot the landscape, that a carnival has rolled into town, setting up shows, stalls and other fare to entice people to spend their money and try their luck at the ring toss and other such activities.
The main event, however, seems to be occuring under the giant main tent that reaches the height of the two storey houses surrounding it, people leaving coo about the ring master being an almost mythical person, too good to be true and other such like, anyone that questions is told to see for themselves, and soon come out much the same as the others.
This alone wouldn't cause alarm, but the chirping aboard the Ganemede would set the TSAB personnel on edge. <LOST LOGIA SIGNAL DETECTED.> chimes the ships computer, marking the tent itself as the source of the signal.
Zephyr stands on the bridge, then frowns. "Zephyr Windstar to anyone available... we have another one." broadcast to all channels she can find.
- Neuroi Girl has posed:
One of the channels found is monitored by the little Neuroi, Evangeline. She responds over the frequency with a soft, "...I am on my way..."
After gaining coordinates and such, the small black form of Evangeline soon emerges from a nearby gate before heading toward the tent. She comes to a stop near the edge of the crowd surrounding it, and floats just a few inches above their heads. "...What is the 'one'...?" she asks over the radio to Zephyr.
- Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone did get about the Multiverse she'd become slowly more comfident abotu osmethings related to herself and she'd managed to get a bit of an on going job for hunting these lost Logia's. It had Kotone's interest she had hopeed to learn more about these things and keep them from being an problem for other worlds given her past encounters she understood what an issue they could be.
- Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
Another Lost Logia. This one in far more accessible circumstances! Again Valentha's out and about, responding to the call by... teleporting into the sky and floating down near Evangeline and Kotone?! Yeah. Without wings or any apparent means of propulsion, Valentha zips down fgor a landing near the tent. "Now what could've wormed its way into the big top?"
- Testarossa Fate (401) has posed:
Threats of Lost Logia on the loose, and some people are... Not here for reasons one might expect.
"Hey! Hey! Faaaate! Faaaaate! Can you smell that! It looks delicious! Oh man I want some, can I have some? Seriously, buy me some!"
With boundless energy, the small flame-colored puppy darts back and forth, almost out of control on her leash, tongue lolling out and tail wagging. Almost out of control. Almost is the key word as a tug on Arf's leash earns a small whine.
Fate Testarossa is present, the small blonde girl keeping her Familiar reigned in as she does the most nefarious thing possible. ... She enjoys the carnival. Or, well. She tries to. A small girl alone at a festival isn't going to have as much fun as with her friends, and Nanoha, Vesta, and Alicia are not present. Nor are Precia or Linith.
Sigh.
She was just about to call things a wash and head home when the glimmering golden medallian dangling from her bracelet pings a resonant tone.
[SIR. IT IS A LOST LOGIA.]
"... Here?"
- Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Zephyr teleports down, surveying the area. She looks to Kotone, Valentha and Evangeline, nodding a little. "Royce thinks this is either the Cape or the Mask... no other unaccounted for Lost Logia can cause this kind of reaction." The crowd seem totally blissed out, just wandering in a daze and spending their money at the kiosks and stalls.
"Be on guard, if it's the Cape we'll have to fight off the crowd once we engage... if it's the Mask, it'll be a harder time attacking the wearer due to the effect it has." The windmage pulls her Device from her bracer and steps forward, holding the coin tight and ready. She's not noticed Fate, but doesn't transform just yet, in case that triggers the Defense System.
- Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
"An entire crowd? ... What a powerful artifact it must be..." And she wants it all the more. Now if only she could figure out how the TSAB was detecting these things and pre-empt them. ARGH.
But these deep feelings are hidden well. As is her silent search for magic. She chants out the 'Sense Magic' spell quietly with a few covert gestures.
"A little more information would be nice. What do these relics DO?"
- Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone looks to Valentha for a moment, tilting her head for a moment.
"No iea we're going to have to find out."
She does take note to Zepher for a moment comm. <<Understood Zephyr we'll start moving in.>>
"We should watch out memetic attack then with this thing?"
Kotone asks Zephyr and then turns her attention to VAlentha.
"These are lost relics of a dead magic using culture. They are old busted and often haywire. Or worse military hardware."
- Neuroi Girl has posed:
Evangeline turns her featureless face toward each person as they approach, but says nothing until Zephyr arrives. "...non-lethal is hard for me..." she finally says as Zephyr explains the situation. Evangeline is unsure of how she would deal with crowds of possessed people. Still, once Zephyr has explained the situation, she floats toward the tent.
The little Neuroi nods her head in agreement with Valentha as she speaks. "...magic such as that is unheard of on my world..."
- Testarossa Fate (401) has posed:
Fate going unnoticed is probably for the best. For her anyway. Where there is Lost Logia, the TSAB are bound to show up, and not only is she a know and wanted felon...
But she really doesn't want people to catch her in the really nice yukata she borrowed from Nanoha.
"Faaaaate...? I'm not going to get any hot dogs am I?"
[ORDERS SIR?]
"Mmmm... Let's try and keep a low profile for now. Maybe we can even..." Whatever her thought is, she pretends to bury her attention in a food stall while Arf paws at her legs.
- Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
The large tent, when entered, is...
Empty.
Save for a single man, a scrawny waif of a being, wearing a large, billowing black cloak that has a tracery of blue circuit lines all across it. These lines meld into pulsating veins that run along the mans arms, and up around his neck and head. That's for those that don't get a head full of the ambient effect of the cape.
Those that are effected would see someone else. This is unique to each person, though underneath it they would feel this isn't right.
To those unaffected, the man makes a flourish, and laughs dramatically. "AH! More subjects for the GRRRRREAT AND POWERFUL TRISTAN! KNEEL BEFORE ME AND BEHOLD MY GLORY!" with a flick of his wrists... streamers burst out from hidden launchers behind him, showering him with confetti and other misc things of that nature.
- Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
"HAIL TRISTAN, KING OF THE ELVES!" Valentha answers in a booming, imperious voice that doesn't AT ALL fit the image of either her garb or age. Or the language she's been using all this time. She switched from American English to... her native Dragonese, thankfully also known as Elven for good reason. She just puffs up in place and puts on her best face, but instead of kneeling she executes a short but polite bow.
- Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa had enter the big top and she seems to be not effectect for now. She listens watching the show and wonders for a moment she doesn't move to knee just yet well she does so after a oment she intends play along for now. She doesn't want to set them off just yet.
- Testarossa Fate (401) has posed:
If there's a Lost Logia in the area there's only one course of actoin for Fate Testarossa. It really should be 'retreat and not be seen in the area', yet there's some nagging draw that pulls upon the blonde's curiosity to investigate, and that's why she quietly tugs Arf into the tent.
What they see is not what they expect. Fate halts dead in her tracks, scarlet eyes shooting wide open in a look of mixed confusion and bewilderment. Mother is god in the eyes of a child after all. Though Fate may be of sound and strong mind, she is not immune to effects of every Lost Logia under the sun, especially when she has yet to don her Barrier Jacket.
It is not The Great and Powerful Tristan that she sees, but someone else. Someone tall and forboding, garbed in a gown of dark velvety material, lond black hair shrouding familiar features. "Mo...ther...?" It's jarring. Halting, even.
It's Arf that has very different ideas. "Huh? Fate? What are you talking about? Your old lady isn't he-..." Now the pup's eyes widen, tongue lolling out. She's staring RIGHT at Tristan. "Look at the SIZE of it... Oh man that's too much... Look at all that -ramen-."
In an instant Arf breaks off her leash, still in pup form she CHARGES RIGHT AT TRISTAN yapping, "BON APPETIT!"
- Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Zephyr winces a little as the wash of psychic assault passes over her. She staggers, lifting a hand to her forehead with a groan.
"Zephyr? Come here my child... you've grown." she hears the voice, and with a look up, her eyes spring as wide as Fate's. "M-Mama?" she shakes her head, squeezing her eyes shut to focus... and when those mismatched hues open once more, she frowns at the cape-wearing form.
Zephyr's about to say something... when Arf comes barreling past and slams into Tristan's chest, staggering him back. He steps on the hem of the cloak, and topples over, wind knocked out of him... though that sets off the Defense System, and a shambling horde of mind-controlled Carnival patrons comes shuffling in from all sides, their eyes glowing the same pulsing blue as the Cape's circuitry.
"YOU DARE DEFY THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRISTAN! YOU SHALL BE PUNISHED!" he cries, after getting a breath into his lungs, though hoarse now. He grabs at PuppyArf, and attempts to throw her off of him.
- Testarossa Fate (401) has posed:
Yipe!
This is the sound of a very surprised wolf pup getting scruffed. And in an instant, Arf snaps out of it. "... Hey you're not a six foot bowl of rame--" Arf gets flung, earning another yelp before a dark metal gauntled catches the Familiar in mid-flight, a flash of gold light suffusing Fate's form as she dons her Barrier Jacket and sets the pup down. Arf isn't so little in a second, either as the two look immensely less than pleased, by the time Fate's head clears and she manages to see through the illusion of the cape.
"No... She wouldn't be here would she." Murmured more to herself than anyone else, eyes narrowing into a frosty glare.
The only thing that prevents her from launching immediately info a fury fuelled reprisal is a familar voice. A bewildered call of 'M-mamma'.
Scarlet gaze snaps to Zephyr, an almost pained look flashing behind Fate's as that small mage remembers a prior conversation shared between the two of them. A tiny hand sets on the older mage's shoulder to give her a good but light shake. Her voice is surprisingly gentle.
"That's not who you're seeing."
Arf however has no compunctions to stay and be goody-nice. She was cheated out of a six foot tall bowl of divine messianic ramen.
"You... Wh... MY NAME IS ARF AND YOU TOOK MY RAMEN! PREPARE TO DIE!"
Tristan as a five toot tall, several-hundred pound red WOLF coming at him, claws and fangs bared, at top speed. She does not seem very happy at all.
- Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa watches as Arf comes in full bore at the one with the cape. She's not sure why shes not being effected but she's moving to try to keep from being noticed too much she's paid the mighty Tristan their due right? he's clealry just here to bask in their glory. She watch for a moment staring at Arf and then at Arf is just oging in. She shakes he rhead a bit and she thinks it's time to make ready for action, she did bring her blaster and she keeps that thing set to stun.
- Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
The puffed-up dragon-in-human-skin falters at the sight of a massive gathering of people and Arf's wild charge. She starts mumbling some nonsense words, half a spell here, half another there. Eventually she's left dazed and bewildered... until the screaming starts. "Blast it... KERON... no, PERON..."
THWONK! The young woman smacks her head into a pole and swiftly shakes her head out. "What in hell is happening now?"
A glance over to the big top floor reveals the answer pretty fast.
"...Oh."
It takes only a few seconds for her to chant out a more COHERENT spell. Mystical chains fly from her hands in wide arcs, flying down towards Arf in an attept to restrain her and keep her from tearing Tristan up! "Hold up there! No killing, no killing!"
- Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Zephyr snaps out of it at Fate's steadying hand. She looks over at the younger mage, and with a firm nod, straightens. She takes in what's happening, then looks behind her as a groan sounds out from one of the enthralled people. "Falka... Fate, we need to get that cloak off him and seal it... think you can do that while the rest of us hold off the horde?" she asks, kipping her Device up from her bracer, and transforming in a flash. Breeze Mode with Windshear Form.
Tristan blinks, and actually cowers from Arf's charge, dropping down low in a grovelling fashion... it's meant to have the wolf just simply overshoot, but those chains might nix that plan.
Meanwhile, Zephyr rounds on the crowd, and with a flourish, extends her right arm, palm facing outward. <IMPACT BULLET!> announces Divine Wind, as a pulse of raw kinetic force lashes out, driving the approaching people back. "Fate! Get that Cape and Seal it!"
- Testarossa Fate (401) has posed:
Fate doesn't have to be asked twice. Electricity already crackles along her hand and the haft of her Device, arcing visibly along Bardiche's shaft and axe-head. "Mm. Bardi<span class=" bold_fg_y bg_n ++ he."
chy">[GET SET]</span> the Device replies, faithful as always.
Arf DOES overshoot the cowering wizard, landing in a scramble at first, tangled in chains with a snarl. But Fate takes aim.
[GLAIVE FORM.]
Bardiche shifts, axe snapping up into a spear head as golden bands of light form an array of guidance rings as she gathers the energy for a sealing spell as she asides in a voice as cold as freon:
"She wasn't going to kill him. Get your chains off my dog. Now." ... "Please."
- Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa has no desire to start killing here as she looks at Tristian and she's now got a plan to move in. She's going to move in and do what she can to help keep things under control. She's got a few little presets from XCOM namely smoke grenades which she puts to good use. She'll give the others what cover she can while they move to go in.
"Enough we should be focusing on sorting this all out!"
- Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
"Hrmf." Valentha takes a deep breath, lets the chains slacken... then they dissolve completely into the mana they began as. Stray wisps of blue light rise skywards and dissolve. "Hard for some of us to know that. SOMETHING put my head into a tizzy. Apologies."
- Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
Kotone's smoke screen does help. They're enthralled, and the smoke jolts some of them out of the stupor, coughing and falling out of formation as their heads clear. The smoke slows down the remaining walkers, though a small group seems to take it on themselves to perform a dance number. They seems so Thrilled.
Zephyr keeps her side clear, forcing the approaching people back with more Impact Bullets.
As Fate levels her Glaive on Tristan, his eyes go wide. Whether it's the Cape, or the man himself it's hard to tell. "No! NO! YOU CANNOT DO THIS TO ME!" he crows and brings his arms up defensively.
- Testarossa Fate (401) has posed:
"Mn."
It's Fate's only reply to Valentha. And as soon as the chains come free, Arf shakes herself off with a snarl. As Tristan puts his hands up in meager defense she tries to SCRUFF him. Much in the same vein a dog would scruff a pup, it's probably intensely humiliating as she makes to hold him while her Master prepares her spell.
[SEALING.] Bardiche announces as casual as can be as Fate whispers: "Fire."
And then the Device unleashes the gathered energy. A blazing pillar of blindingly golden, searing, light. It's not lethal. But it'll probably hurt so bad Tristan will wish it was.
- Valentha Summers (834) has posed:
With little to do herself except wait for the sealing effort to work, Valentha keeps her eyes on the enthralled crowd... and then makes her next spell choice. Or rather...
She pulls out a gun-like gadget with a big barrel - a huge pipe really. As she pulls the trigger several times, it fires GLOBS of bluish light. These fly down towards the crowd... and where they hit?
They spread out for dozens of feet in every direction, turning the ground RIDICULOUSLY STICKY. It's nearly impossible to MOVE.
- Kotone Yamakawa has posed:
Kotone Yamakawa was not expecting the smoke to snapsome peoplke out of it but it's good enough for her. She looks as he's talking about the cape. She holds back hoping that that massive pillar of light isn't lethal she's just oging to crowd control where she can and well she almost steps in the carpet of magic glue.
- Zephyr Windstar (162) has posed:
The Sealing spell lances out, and engulfs the helpless man. He shrieks, a very girlish sounding shriek, as the cape comes loose and bundles up in ring bindings of deep yellow light. As soon as the Sealing spell ends, its job complete, the remaining Thralls blink in confusion, look amongst each other, then with a shrug, turn and leave. Some stay at the Carnival, while others leave to return home.
Zephyr sighs softly. "Glad that's over with." she looks back at Fate, a moment of concern in her eyes. "So... you gonna take that to the Feds... or let us take it to the TSAB secure archives so it doesn't hurt anyone again?" she asks.
- Testarossa Fate (401) has posed:
Hissssss.
Venting steam and bleeding off the accumulated magical heat from the force of that spell, Bardiche hisses for a few seconds as Fate lets her trusted Device revert to his standard axe form as she pulls her own cloak tighter around her shoulders, glowering frigidly at Tristan and the sealed cape.
"Wow." Arf snorts. "He screams like a girl."
Briefly, Fate's fingers tighten around the shaft of her Device, scarlet gaze casting a sidelong glance at Zephyr. "You know I don't trust the TSAB." Her answer is glacial as she nabs Arf's leash and turns, gold light dissipating her Barrier Jacket and returning her to her Yukata. The child takes just a moment to fix her hair. It looks surreal as she starts leading the MASSIVE wolf away on a chain. "But I trust you just a bit more to make sure that it doesn't." Pause. "Only a little."
She has appearances to maintain.
