We met up in New York... A New York. Nothing particularly unpleasant about it aside from what you'd expect from New York. She wa getting on well enough by herself- well enough, in fact, that I needn't have bothered. I looked at her and I knew that whatever had happened between then and now, Kazuko Kawakami had learned to take care of herself. Stand on her own. And I admitted it, I said that those adventures we had together were my means of pushing her towards that point.
