The office was closed, but even someone as important as the man in the white suit couldn't just hop in a car with the gas shortage. So... he walked. He walked toward his loft apartment. And that's how the other man was able to find him.
This one was dark-haired as well. Asian, by the look of him. Well, Asian-American, or at least spoke in flawless American English. He fell into step without comment at first, allowing the man in white to speak.
"Finally found me, hm?"
"Too many clues," the stranger replied. He kept walking, but made no move that could be hostile.
The man in white allowed this for a time, eventually deciding that he wasn't going to be smacked or assaulted. Quietly, "So. You trust noir4 and I both?"
A shrug. "He's certainly done something. Him and the others." He tucked his hands in his pockets. "But things have gotten worse. Are you going to be a problem for me? For /us?/"
Chuckle. The man in white continues walking. "No. No, as the Lord said, the meek shall inherit the Earth. Actually He didn't say that, and you and your... friends... are far from meek, but you get my point. It's your world now. Let's see what you make of it." He slows as he approaches the building.
"As for noir4..." the man in white murmurs. "He and his friends lost someone dear to them. I'd advise you to stay out of their way. Not because you may agree with them entirely but simply... well..."
He looks over his shoulder. "Better to ride the wave than be crushed beneath it, as they say. I'm throwing my lot in. How about you? "
The door closed, and the other man, the stranger with the dark hair, stood and stared quietly. It was a long time before he pulled out his phone... an expensive satellite model, since most of the cell networks had trouble reaching out of the region. As he walked away, he dialed.
"Yeah. It's me. LA. As many as you can spare. Something big's come up."
