Synopsis: | Fayt attempts to conduct Trade at the Crystal Valley when an unusual customer approaches him. it... doesn't end well for Fayt. |
Cast of Characters: | 319, 513 |
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
Crystal valley, outside of being a very nice place for a vacation, is also home to several small towns and villages, plenty of which are willing to trade in magical good or the weird plants that grow out here.
so it should come as no suprise when one of the vilalges is being visited by a small freighter, a large metal box that's set itself down on the ground at the village outskirts. several wokers moving around boxes or inspecting the shipt itself.
one of the people here stands out, short and scrawny, with pale blue hair and equally pale skin, a staff on his back and what looks like goggles hanging around his neck, he doesn't seem like somthing you'd readly find on a trading vessle. Maybe he's a guard? He seems to watching over the crates at any rate.
- Finna (513) has posed:
Any places with STRANGE PLANTS that might be useful for all kinds of weird things is easily attractive to Finna, and that's exactly what brings her to this weird place. Potent medicines or plants that can be used for building things, or perhaps provide some strange advantage to warriors or shamans would be extremely valuable to the Haslanti and perhaps Creation as a whole, and so she's been scurrying around the area for a few hours now.
But now there's a STRANGE sight. A flying ship like none she's ever seen! Now that's worth investigating.
So it is that a MOUNTAIN OF A MAN STROLLS UP TOWARDS THE SHIP. A man in ragged, leather trousers and NOTHING ELSE. He travels the land barefoot, and why not? For it is as though one took a mountain, chiseled it down to the heart, and then the Heart, having enough of this shit, up and walked off to go and harass Fayt. His muscles have muscles, his scars have scars, and his jaw is proud, strong, and wide - the kind one might see on a superhero comic cover. Yet his hair is a pale blonde, and he has a short, thick, rough beard. A sword with a gleaming steel blade, long as he is, has been slung over his back, held in place by a lone belt worn over his otherwise bare chest. The only other thing he wears is a NECKLACE OF FANGS.
"This a merchant vessel?" The barbarian asks of Fayt!
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
Fayt blinks a few times as... something very, VERY large approaches the ship. The pale little mage crains his neck up to look at the giant, "ERM... Hello?" he sounds understandibly surprised. "Yes, this is a merchant ship, is there something I can help you with?"
Several of the other people working here take note of the man... and then very quickly go back to work, wisly deciding that they're REALLY much too busy for this and they'll just let their boss deal with Big McLargeHuge.
- Finna (513) has posed:
"Mrrrmfgh." The man ponders aloud, sounding much like a glacier scraping across the land. "Indeed. I've heard word of special plants to be found in this land. Ones available nowhere else. I wander the Multiverse, hunting for all manner of resources for my tribe... and a merchant would be just the sort to task..."
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
"Well..." Fayt smiles slightly. "If it's a merchent you need, you're in luck. I run Black dragon shipping. This si one of my ships here." He motins to the freighter, it even has an image of a black dragon curled around a shipping crate on the side of it. "So, what kind of things are you looking for? Maybe we could help?"
- Finna (513) has posed:
"Hoho. Think you can help, then, can you? Well then, little man..." The giant CROUCHES a little, hands on his knees. Sure he's big and intimidating, but his voice is hearty and friendly enough! "My people live in the ice, and the snow. The land does not give up its bounty easily, and crops have little time to grow. I'm looking for hardy crops, 'n maybe some medicinal ones that can take the cold and be worth the trouble, better 'n the ones we got! Have you anythin' like that fer sale?"
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
Fayt actually backs up just a bit as Finna crouches. "Hmm... Stuff that grwos in the cold..." He idly pulls on his goggles as he seems ot think about it. "There's a few things I'm aware of. Magic plants a few things that grow in some of the colder worlds that unified... Think a few places make greenhouses for that kind of thing... It'd take awhile to get a list of everything we can get hold of together." Fayt may not look like much, but he apparently takes his job fairly seriously.
- Finna (513) has posed:
"Green houses? Green HOUSES?" The giant of man rubs his bearded chin thoughtfully. "'n what abouts is a green house? Never heard the word before. now, plants that actually grow IN the snow... that's a whole new thing altogether. You even HAVe such a thing?!" The giant leans in a bit, eyes now genuinely wide with amazement!
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
"Greenhouses? they're glass buildings you go grow plants inside of with the right, tools you could probably set one up, though there's the problem of soil... could possibly handle that too. There's also smaller once called cold frames, good for keeping a couple small plants." curiously, as Fayt talks, he seems to be looking at something at the space right in front of him, even though there's nothing there. Must be something with the goggles?
"As for the plants? Ever hear of airplants? There's some that can take the cold." That done, Fayt pulls the goggles back off and looks back up at Finna.
- Finna (513) has posed:
"Airplants, eh? Cannae say I have..." Again the monstrous man rubs his fuzzy chin... "Glass. Hrm. Might be worth lookin' inta. Glass ain't too common where I'm from. 'cept a bit from raidin' the lik. Could do some trading." The man sprouts a grin. "How much is elk, elephant seal, whale, heck, animal products in general worth to 'ya? Or some live ones, if that floats your boat. Enough to bargain fer somma these things?"
Fayt might, if he focuses hard, spot something odd. Not about the great man, but in his shadow. Something is in the shadow that is NOT matched by the man. there's some sort of tail-thing wagging about?
- Finna (513) has posed:
The huge man does, however, look over the strange airship Fayt came in on, and quips, "... Don't think you'd want a whole live mammoth on this thing though. Gaha!"
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
"Well..." Fayt replies "for stuff like that we could..." Fayt suddenly looks at finna, jsut really, REALLY looks. something starting to buzz in the back of the pale mages head He doesn't seem angry or upset, just confused, confused and perhaps a bit unnerved. "We're... not allowed to move live cargo, it's... complicated." a pause, then Anyway sorry but... I don't think you gave your name?"
- Finna (513) has posed:
"Erik." The man rumbles, slamming a fist to his chest. "Erik BLACKBURN of Icehome." Wherever the hell THAT is.
"No live cargo, eh? ... Can' quite blame ya... all that mess they'd make..." Now folding both arms across his chest, but still leaning in and peering curiously down at Fayt. "... You really a trader?"
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
Fayt doesn't have the best of magic senses, He can't really "read" magic the same way other mages can, He's not ever, compleatly clueless: he can pick up on things, he just can't make any sence of the input.
right now, his sensees are starting to tell him something is up with what's in front of him, and while he can't make sense of what it is, it's just enough to start putting him on edge.
"Huh? Me? Y-yeah..." He backs away just as much as 'Erik' leans in. "...what about you?" He starts to carefully glacne around, wait a sec, did something on the ground just...
Fayt is clearly being put off by whatever it is he's picked up on, though he hasn't quite paniced or worse, turned violent just yet. His employees, noticing something's gotten into thier boss, have quietly started to clear out of the area.
- Finna (513) has posed:
"Me? Hunter... gatherer... more recently, adventurer." Erik straightens out again, stretching his neck and adjusting the necklace with a tug, showcasing the MANY FANGS that dangle and jingle from it. "Been doing plenty o' the last one these days, since the warpgates showed up."
obviously curious at the way the workers are getting freaked out, and spotting Fayt's own tenseness, the man perplexedly presses his lips together, then leans in again. "Something wrong, trader?"
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
Fayt once again backs up as much as Erik leans in, He seesm to be glancing around in a somewhat confused manner, He SWARES he's picking up something but... "Un... n-nothing don't um... huh?" Fayt suddenly seems to focus on something on the ground.
"Um... out of curosity, do you have a tail?" If Erik looked, Fayt's carefully eyeing him, but also seems to be glancing at his shadow.
- Finna (513) has posed:
"Eh?" The big man blinks. Erik sprouts a grin, then GUFFAWS heartily with another slap to the chest. "A TAIL?! Pfhahaha! Now that's a tale if I ever heard 'un! You mus' be lookin' too long at all da shiny coins, they're hurtin' yer EYES."
The shadow-tail starts wagging FASTER. Much like a happy dog. It is, however, too fluffy for a dog's tail...
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
"Yeah... you're not you, are you?" He's starting to sound REALLY worried now. "I mean... someone like you, just fights with a sword right? Except I'm not picking up right now. You're doing something? Illusions? Shapechanging? Something's telling me I'm not seeing what I'm supposed to.
Coincidentally, Fayt's not only getting increasingly unnerved by all of this, but he's slowly reaching one hand around to that staff on his back...
- Finna (513) has posed:
"..... Hrrrrrrmghrf." Erik spots this sudden move of hostility. "'n is yer first impulse to assume everything that isn't what it seems to be out to get 'ye? That's pickin' a fight ye can't win, if so. I brought no threat 'yer way... for such a little man, yer bravery's more than I'd expect!"
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
FAyt very suddenly backs up again, almost tripping over himself im the process. "I have to be careful there's a lot of trouble out in the Multiverse, the war going on doesn't help much." He's stopped going for his staff, though he still seems a bit on edge. "S...sorry?"
- Finna (513) has posed:
"Greh... that war. Silly thing, but if people ain't fightin' over one thing it's another. Keeps people on their toes at least, don't it?" The man sprouts another big, vibrant grin... and reaches out to steady Fayt. "You spook easily... hard to believe yer' a trader. Some Guildsmen I've heard of are beyond brave. They'll get in contests with the best cheifs over who can hold their hand in a fire the longest! Of course, 'n you didn't hear this from me..." The big man leans in, conspiratorially, to aside Fayt's way as if this were the most confidential fact ever, and whispers, "They cheat."
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
"I was um... kind of a mage first?" Fayt admits, Erik would fine leaning in towards Fayt a bit tricky, as he seems to still lean away from any attempts to get closer to him. or at least he'll try, with a hand on him he likely can't get any far. apparently eitehr Fayt is still freaking out or... well this might actually be normal for him. "I see?"
- Finna (513) has posed:
'Erik' heaves a mighty sigh after several seconds of silence, and releases Fayt. Once again the man stands stalwart with arms folded. "'Yer no bargainer, that's for sure. How can you make deals when 'yer limp as a noodle?"
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
Fayt wobbles a bit as he's released. " once's he's steady again. He gives 'Erik' a blank look. "Eh?" once again, he sounds a bit lost though given what he just went through, that's probably somewhat understandable. "I um... er... Sorry?"
- Finna (513) has posed:
"What are you... a mouse, 'r a MAN?" Erik suddenly bellows, leaning in towards Fayt with serious concern in his icy blue eyes!
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
Fayt leans away about as much as Erik leans in. "...man?" He looks honestly confused now. "I um... What exactly are you getting at here?"
- Finna (513) has posed:
"How can I do business with a guy who falls over in a stiff breeze?" Erik grouses unhappily at Fayt. "How c'n anyone?"
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
"Eh?" Fayt blinks. "Hey... you said you wanted the plants, right? What else do you need?" He crosses his arms. "Anything that's on he market, my company can find it." He frowns a bit. "now, the naimals? We can't take anything live but the meat and furs are good. could probably find a buyer for the bones while I'm at it." A pause, before he adds, "...that isn't plotting something really creepy and/or weird with them... stupid necromancers."
- Finna (513) has posed:
"Gods in Heaven, NOTHING good comes from Necromancy!" The man actually seems fearful for a moment, shuddering and recoiling back a step. "Or the UNderworld. Better make SURE nothing liek that happens! But, t'be honest, I don'tHAVE any beast products with me... know who will... 'm just scouting for deals. 'n this one's the best I've seen yet... you get me information on these seeds 'n plants, and if it's good, there's mammoth meat, whale blubber, 'n much more where I'm from for it.... only trouble is, you being so wimpy, I doubt the chiefs'll deal fairly with ya. 'n That's not how I'd like relations with the Multiverse to start off..."
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
"Don't worry! Not speaking from experence on that one! Though the orders I've had to turn down back when I was unaffiliated... eesh." he lets out a sigh. "I was only panicing so much because well..." he point to Erik's shadow again. "I have no idea what you're actually doing, or why for that matter. But it's sort of throwing what little magical senses I have for a loop."
- Finna (513) has posed:
"....." WHOOOOOOSH. A big, meaty hand lunges out to grab Fayt by the collar, and Erik promptly just starts DRAGGING him up the ramp of his own ship. "Tactless, oafish wimp... consider yourself lucky this venture seems worthwhile to me." Wait, wait, WHAT? Did the accent just vanish all of a sudden? Gone is the hearty friendliness, replaced with a moment of harsh, well-spoken criticism. But once they're inside, and out of anyone else's sight - at least, anyone from the village... something REALLY WEIRD starts happening.
'Erik' undergoes a change. 'His' flesh almost seems to MELT, turning into the consistency of gelatin, but with no real volume... see, he starts shrinking. Or rather, all his limbs shrink, the muscles vanishing. The blonde hair changes, turning snow-white. Little fox ears peek through it moments later, and soon the tail in the shadow migrates to Finna's actual rump as the rest of her body finishes changing. For a brief moment, her modesty's protected only by her hair - clothes are one of the last things to finish properly changing.
But yes, in a handful of seconds, a white-haired, icy-blue eyed foxgirl in clothing made of hunted furs and leathers. Thankfully, she is MUCH, much shorter - only an inch taller than Fayt himself.
But she's frowning ever so severely, and pointing a finger accusingly right at his nose.
He cannot help but just FEEL the message in that gesture. 'You make a big deal out of this, and it won't go well.'
- Finna (513) has posed:
Almost as an afterthought, the intense scowl starts melting, as if she were not super serious about it. But, oddly enough, asomething REALLY strange is happening on her forehead. Silvery light gleams there, burning softly like an ember. In moments, a faint sign shines there. The crescent moon, wrought in pure energy - just brightly enough to catch the eye.
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
"ACK!" Fayt actually struggle as he' suddenly lifted up, thought given that he has a mages strength, he's likely not getting anywhere. Once he's set down, the mage stumbles a bit before simply toppling over. *THUD!* "...ow." He manages set up just in time to see 'Erik' replaced with someone else. at first he seems worried, but then he notices the mark on her forehead. "An exalt? At least that rules out some of the more worrying possa... well actualy no, I know a solar, she's one of the most worrying people I know." Rubbing the sides of his head, Fayt lets out a sigh from his spot on the floor. "Gods damnit." He's not panicing, not yet at least, though he seems to have a bit of a 'not again' attitude about the whole thing. like he's weirdly use to crazy stuff happening to him.
- Finna (513) has posed:
"You're a strange one." The foxlady posits, hands on her hips, and an -almost- feral grin sprouting on her face. Bit of a lopsided grin, at that. Thankfully, nowshe is much leaner, and can LEAN IN over Fayt like this without COMPLETELY overshaddowing him.. "And that makes the THIRD time someone has known what I am... that is getting /AGGRAVATING./ Just how do YOU know? I thought the warpgates had only just come to us... you certainly should not have had the opportunity to meet travelers from Creation, let alone a Sun-child..."
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
"Erm..." Fayt once again leans away as much as Finna leans in, likely ending up on his back if she leans in far enough. "There's been more than one creation to show up here. That's how. anyway um... sorry if it was importint I didn't notice the... shapshifting... thing." Suprisingly, that apology doesn't sound too fearful, he actually does sound sorry that he might of somehow broken something. Weird.
- Finna (513) has posed:
Rather suddenly, Finna slaps a palm over her face. This hides the Caste Mark, but only mildly. It still shines through her palm...
"I'm a fool to simply drop it, for such a simple reason. You are too wimpy. Such a wimp that I don't feel good fooling you... much!" Much. Oh dear.
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
Fayt's responce is simple. his face goes blank. "Um... Are um... are you ok?" he's starting sound worried again.
- Finna (513) has posed:
"Why do you worry about ME? Is it not YOU facing down one of Luna's Chosen, who are feared through half of Creation?!" Finna grouches, lips twisting to one side of her face in a highly indignant and CONFOUNDED look.. boy is this frustrating. "What an odd fellow you are. Perhaps, in trade, instead of meat you need tutoring."
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
"ERM... sorry?" Fayt just blinks at the tutoring remark. "I um... I don't have much say in this do I?"
- Finna (513) has posed:
"..." And now Finna plants her hands on her hips even MORE emphatically and leans ALL the way in, hints of fury showing on her face. "What is wrong with you? Can't even stand up for yourself? Grr... no, dictating how you should live is not my way. You should have the pride to fix this problem yourself."
- Fayt Ravus (319) has posed:
Fayt, if he could would sink into the floor. "...Tell you what? I honenstly need to round up my men, We've got a lot of work and I don't want ot delay things too much, we'll take later, alright?"
- Finna (513) has posed:
"Maybe we will, or maybe not." Finna says, folding her arms. With a sigh of resignation she strolls past Fayt - but does not neglect to swing her tail up to give his nose a good tickling on the way out!
