Date of Scene: | 13 May 2015 |
Location: | Busou Shinki Battle Arena |
Synopsis: | Battle Rondo AU23: Seika vs. Kari Wolf, in a Tokyo-esque city where the shinki are the size of giant monsters. After a hard fought battle, Kari ekes out a win. |
Cast of Characters: | 276, 385 |
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Here at the stadium, there's quite a few people gathered to see a shinki battle today. And a Battle Rondo match to boot! Zarenna paces the box for masters, dressed in a nicely cut business suit made of some kind of dark purple cloth. Her hair seems to be green with purple tips today. She's checking Kari and taking off the non-standard skates from the Howling.
"You'll just have to do without them. No non-standard parts, which means you're not changing into your Dire Wolf armor if things go wrong, Kari."
"Aw.... I guess I'll manage, Master! I hope I win and make you proud!"
"You'll be fine either way, Kari. Just pay attention and respect your opponent by doing your best."
Kari walks out to the field, wondering who her opponent is, or even what kind of field the visualizer is going to show. The little shinki looks around curiously. There's a lot of shinki watching too, she notices.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna is sitting in another part of the Masters' box, dressed perhaps less formally, but - well, she's an idol singer, so looking reasonably good in public comes with the territory. Her attention is focused on a Sharatang model Shinki; specifically ...
"That should do it, Seika. Give it a quick play?"
The Sharatang draws her bow across the strings of her 'shield,' playing a few notes and nodding. "Yep, perfectly tuned! Thank you, Master Yuna!"
There are only a couple of models of Shinki who get 'tuned up' in the musical sense as well as the mechanical; Sharatangs are one of them, and Seika's joy at getting the strings' tension *JUST* right gets Yuna to smile as well. "I think you're all set, then. Good luck out there, Seika!"
Seika straightens up, bowing politely to Yuna, and then flies out to the field as well, her flight frame (not really 'wings' in any normal sense) disappearing back into the Slipway as she touches down. "Hello~!" Seika calls out to Kari, waving cheerfully to her soon-to-be-opponent. "I'm looking forward to our match; good luck!"
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Kari cheerfully bows to her opponent!
Then the visualizer field opens up to reveal...
A city, filled with large buildings and construction. And our combatants are scaled on-par with the buildings. Kari looks around. "Woah... um... Rawr?" She says sheepishly as she takes on some kind of fighting stance and summons her drowns from the slipway in a shimmer of light.
Zarenna facepalms as she sees the big display of the visualizer. "Are you kidding me?"
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna raises her eyebrows at the visualizer's 'choice' of terrain. "Is that ..."
Seika looks around at the projected field, and tries not to giggle out loud. "Well, if we have to .." She pulls her 'bow' back out, raising it to Kari in a fencer's salute, then takes a ready stance of her own. "Ready when you are, Miss Kari!" she calls out cheerfully.
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Kari is momentarily distracted, watching the little virtual people and cars flee en masse from the two kaiju-scaled shinki in this holographic domain. "Wow, they're even fleeing just like the movies... huh? Okay!" She beams happily.
"Here we go!" she shouts.
And she runs at the Sharatang, drones dispersing to hide around buildings. Instead of being gory and bloody, the little virtual people are scattered about through the air, falling with no apparent detriment and continuing to flee. She jumps at Seika, throwing a paw gauntleted hand out for emphasis as she leaps into a kick. "Hi-ya~! Robo Girl Kick~!"
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Seika the Sharatang tries to bring her 'bow'-sword up to block the kick, misses, and gets punted in the shoulder for her trouble. "First strike to you," she says to Kari with a smile ...
Then her weapon flicks back and forth like a conductor's baton, but Seika doesn't attack with it - it's a feint, leading up to a quick jump forward, a crouch, and a leg sweep, performed as if to the rhythm of a stately dance.
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Kari goes crashing through a building as her legs are swept out from under her, scattering all sorts of mundane things around her like some kind of crazy game. Plumes of dust are thrown up, sparks fly as 'electrical' cables are wrecked.
The drones come swooping in with a V formation to harass Seika with lasers from their hovercraft mounts. There's a whirling storm of lasers aimed at the other shinki, buying time for Kari to roar back up from being knocked down to throw an armored punch at the (hopefully) distracted Sharatang. "Robo Paw-nch!" Howlings apparently can't escape the puns.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Distracted? Oh yes. And in a bit of pain, from the sound of her squeaks as she tries to dodge the stinging lasers. She's easy prey for Kari's punch, and goes down flat on her face - right through a model train station. "Ow ..." Seika groans softly.
She doesn't stay down for long, though. "You really don't like keeping a set rhythm, do you?" she asks, her tone friendly and playful. "I guess I shouldn't stay predictable either, though ..."
She goes into a quick pirouette, trying to circle around to Kari's side before abruptly coming out of her spin with a jab of her 'bow'-styled sword to the Howling-type's waist area.
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Kari makes a awk! sound as the sword whacks her in her unarmored side, flinching with the blow.
"Hey, I get squashed if I don't keep people on their toes. People are..." here she grins and giggles. "... bigger than us!" Okay, she's finding the fact that they're giant robots fighting in a city kind of funny with that statement.
And Kari jumps! And Kari lands short of Seika, jumping more forward this time to ram her opponent with the pointy ears of her helmet.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Seika has to giggle at Kari's joke as well, although she's still serious enough to try and intercept Kari's pointy-eared headbutt with the 'flat' of her bow-saber. "We *are* turning things around, aren't we?" she asks merrily, then tries to scoop Kari up and maneuver her into a suplex.
... or, well. It WOULD be a suplex if Kari weren't totally the wrong way around for it. As it is, the Howling-type is liable to land feet-first; the best Seika can hope for in the wake of that blunder is to inflict a somewhat jarring impact.
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Kari lands on her feet, though awkwardly as one foot catches on a telephone pole and wrenches her ankle servo a bit. Kari has fairly good upper body strength though and tries to turn this around on Seika by grabbing the Type Violin with those burly armored arms of hers and flinging Seika across town.
"Alley oop!" Kari calls as she tries to pull this off.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"Awha?" asks the somewhat confused Sharatang as she gets grabbed -
And flung. "KYAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaah ... !!" She screams a bit as she tumbles through the air, her scream trailing off ALMOST as if vanishing into the distance. She's not actually flying all that far, though - partly because she could fly under her own power if she had the time and clearance to re-engage her flight frame, mostly because physics doesn't give her enough hang time to worry about it. Buildings and landscape, on the other hand ...
A pile of rubble shifts as Seika pulls herself back to her feet. "I think that's enough of a warm-up, don't you?" she smiles, her 'shield' appearing, its grip clutched by her left hand. She lays the bow across the strings ... and starts playing. Sharatangs aren't 'Type Violin' just for their visual design motif, after all.
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Kari tries to shield herself from the sonic assault, getting battered by flying cars, and loosed chunks of buildings, taking a serious battering. When it's over and the dust is clearing, her Boneshaker bazooka is clipped to her arm as she rises, swatting away the dust cloud with her free paw and then lighting up the darkened city with a laser blast. FREEM! "Super Laser! Wheeee~!" At least the two are having more fun and it's not TOO serious a fight, right?
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"Yeeeek!" yelps Seika as she gets super lasered; fortunately (yet ironically), the beam doesn't hit her cello-esque shield, instead slamming straight into her torso and knocking her head-over-heels.
The Sharatang seems unfazed, though, righting herself and soaring towards Kari. "I was hoping our match would be an elegant dance, without unnecessary brutality," she says apologetically as she lunges in, her bow whipping across like a fencer's foil. "It seems we're of different minds about that, though."
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Kari's chest armor takes a nasty hit, exploding in typical sentai giant robot fashion as she's knocked over into some buildings in the exchange.
"I'm not elegant and I've fought a lot of giants!" She says, giggling as she shifts under the rubble. The Boneshaker has been put away for now, it seems. But then Kari takes a huge lunge sideways behind a building and shoves hard, toppling the building over and towards her opponent. OOMPH!
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
There's a rather dismayed yell as the building collapses on top of Seika, burying HER under the rubble now.
At least until a rather aggrieved-sounding riff plays, the focused sound waves sending chunks of ruined building flying away from the Sharatang. "Of *very* different minds, it seems ..." she admits, her 'shield' disappearing again. "Ah well ... if you won't keep the beat, I'm afraid the beating will just continue."
She charges at Kari once more, her bow-styled melee weapon flashing in a series of jabs.
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Kari manages to fend off a number of the attacks, a lot of damage being done to her shoulder and arm armors from the blade. She takes an opportunity, a lull in the Sharatang's combo, to reach out and try and grab her opponent by the head with both hands, and smash her face into the edge of her knee armor.
"I don't get to fight somebody my size often! It's different!" She says cheerily, before adding "I'm sorry about this!" just as she tries to smash Seika's face into her knee.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Fortunately for Seika, Kari doesn't get quite as solid a grip as she would have wanted, and the Sharatang is able to wriggle most of the way free. Kari's knee still clips Seika's forehead, though, and Seika wobbles comically for a second or so, giving her opponent a goofy grin. "Well, we're both having fun, and the fans should be enjoying it too, so that's the important part, right?"
Her 'shield' materializes again ... but instead of applying her bow to the strings, Seika leaps up and forward, trying to bring the flat of her shield down on Kari's noggin. Odds are very, VERY good that the strings will soak up most of the impact, though.
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Kari is knocked flat by the attack, her helmet flying off somewhere or another from the raw impact of the hit. "Ooomph!" She rolls sideways towards a yard full of shipping containers.
Kari responds by hucking shipping containers at Seika with those oversized paw-gauntlets of hers. Here she utilizes her drones once more, the little machines popping out from various angles to take potshots at Seika as well. "And we maybe get new paint jobs after!" She says.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"Aaaaah - !!!" Seika tries hard to dodge the drones' shots, but there are just enough of them to swarm her and keep her from really *dodging*. "That's enough out of your backup band, Ms. Kari! - Although I do admire how well you use them," she admits with a grin as her 'wings' reappear and she takes to the air, trying to get some distance. Her 'shield' is readied again, bow placed across the strings ...
She resumes playing, a more ominous series of notes than the little serenade she offered a sample from earlier. Reflecting sound waves off of physical (or simulated) objects is an advanced technique, though, and she hasn't got that knack down yet; the drones are actually fairly likely to survive this.
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
The drones are shaken about, knocked into buildings, and are recalled by Kari before they can take too much damage. They might reappear later, but for now they're no longer players.
Kari grrs. If she was allowed to use her Dire Wolf armor. Stupid flying shinki. So she jumps... past Seika and landing on the large Tokyo Tower look-alike, hanging off of it when her Boneshaker Bazooka appears again and takes a shot at Seika's shield. "Thppbt!" Yes, she's blowing a raspberry at her opponent.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Aiming for the *shield*?! It flies in the face of logic that Seika almost - ALMOST - pulls her 'shield' out of the way in favor of taking the hit herself ... although, considering that the 'shield' is actually part of her arsenal, it should make more sense.
As it is, though, she turns her full attention to Kari and just continues playing, more deliberately than before - and more specifically focused, too. It's not a specific melody this time, either, just notes ... still pleasant enough to listen to, mind you.
Just a lot less pleasant to be in the direct path of, as the Sharatang focuses her sonic attack on Kari. There's a very determined look on Seika's face now, too - focused, concentrating ... there's a little wisp of regret, but she doesn't want to surrender the match yet.
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Kari ends up somehow tangled in the superstructure of the Tokyo Tower look alike from the force of the blast. "It's a very pretty sound, Seika! I'll have to listen to you when you're not beating me up in the Battle Rondo some time!" Kari says as she tries to extricate herself from the mangled metal, her armor looking much worse for wear. Good thing the visualizer simulates damage, Kari thinks as she pulls a spar of metal from her midsection.
"But I think the match is almost over!" She launches herself at Seika, aiming to knock her opponent down and repeatedly smash her gauntlets into the Sharatang. Swing for the fences, go for a home run! Rah rah!
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
This time, Seika actually manages to bring her bow (saber) up to take the hit from Kari - and, well ... it works and doesn't work.
The part that works is that she's able to fend off most of the impact force of Kari's punches, and keep the beating from being as bad as it COULD be. But Kari still sends her flying down into the cityscape below, and defense or no defense, there's a nice big cloud of dust and fragmented debris rising up around them, not to mention a gorgeous crater being carved out as Kari drives Seika deeper and deeper into the ground.
Then Seika manages to bring her legs and 'wings' up and push Kari back, holding her away at somewhat further than arm's-length. "I think you're right, Ms. Kari ...." Seika musters a very bright smile, despite scuff marks on her face. Her bow is placed across the strings of her instrumental shield one more time -
And she plays exactly *two* notes, with all the feeling she can muster.
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Kari sees that coming and manages to dodge to one side, some of her waist getting shredded by the sonic blast. And she swings around to Seika's side, drones and Boneshaker materializing as a barrage of lasers comes flying at the Sharatang point-blank in a frenzied assault. Kari really hopes this works because she feels like she can't really go much longer in this fight. Seika is definitely a good opponent!
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Not that Seika particularly FEELS like that good of an opponent. "GYAH!!" is as much of a yelp as she gets out before lasers ensue, followed closely by explosions. When the smoke clears, the Type Violin is sprawled messily in an even deeper crater with @.@ eyes.
And back in the Masters' box, Yuna slumps, "Aww ... so close, too ..." She turns, looking for Kari's Master, and gives Zarenna a quick thumbs-up and a wry grin. "Congratulations ..."
- Kari Wolf (276) has posed:
Zarenna ers, and smiles sheepishly. "Good match, Miss Kagurazaka. Really strange venue the visualizer threw out, right?"
The visualizer ends its projection and all the damage (minus some paint scuffs from colliding with things) is gone. Kari helps Seika up, smiling. "That was pretty good, Seika! We'll have to meet again and do other stuff like arts, crafts, and music!" The Howling adds enthusiastically.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Seika gets back to her feet with help, looking extremely wobbly. Her head's actually bobbing from side to side some ... and she's sort of reciting something in German.
(Classical music buffs might pick out the lyrics from the Ode to Joy, even spoken instead of sung.)
