Cast of Characters: 236, 347, 385, 570
Tinyplot: When They Return

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
It's been a long time since Yuna set foot on the Homeworld - the last time was during the 'emergence' of the Nodes onto the Homeworld's real surface, and it's been far longer than THAT since she was involved in active Node investigation. But she's here today, dressed in civilian clothes for now, Shining Prism gleaming from its place around her neck. Even if her Abstractum hasn't been put to all that much use, she still wears Prism fairly consistently.

Whether she's accumulated enough Resonance to upgrade the Abstractum ... that's another question. One that she's here, in part, to find out the answer to.

Kimiko Shinobu (570) has posed:
Kimiko is present here, arriving in casual, winter clothing and looking somewhat sleepy. Long night? Or maybe she's just like that a lot when not 'on duty.' Hard for most to say, unless they've the advantage of seeing her in 'off time.'

She's not paying attention to a lot of anything in the Homeworld, ignoring the various people and... well, those creatures are probably people, too. Her goal here is to head to the SCANNER with Koishin, on the assumption that this is what she needs to do to get a finer reading of what kind of Resonane that the two have built up. She's not sure at all what she can do with this, but she needs to at least know, roughly what she has to work with... and maybe what things cost. Sadly, there's not really a menu anywhere, so this'll probably come down to trial and error.

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
Mr. Welcomes is here, in his kiosk, if Yuna particularly wants to hassle him about finding out what she can do! Aside from that, the equipment here is an essential display of what can be done. Prism, of course, remains dutifully attentive and silent here.

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
Kimiko's assumption is just about right! It looks like there's some sort of laser-reading eye structure on the scanner! Slipping the bracer off and setting it into the adjustable tray is simple as can be, and the screen pops up with data.

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna smiles, strolling up to the kiosk. "Hey, Mr. Welcomes! Been a while since I've seen you. How've things been?"

She touches her Abstractum pendant gently. "And ... have I got enough Resonance accumulated to upgrade Shining Prism some?"

She glances away briefly, seeing Kimiko turn her attention to that scanner. Maybe that's where Yuna needs to go too - but Welcomes is probably the best person to start with anyway.

Kimiko Shinobu (570) has posed:
Kimiko nods to herself at the results. "Yes, that should be useful." There's a feeling of progress, like Koishin has gotten stronger. Maybe Kimiko has, too.

"What about... Resonance?" Though even if she finds some kind of number for that, she's not going to know what it means without knowing what it can be used for. Numbers are only useful with some kind of scale to set them against. The Drivers, at least, she understands--those can be thought of as relative to each other. That seems about right.

Putting that aside, she retrieves Koishin and moves over to the CARTRIDGE MANUFACTURER. She glances over toward Yuna as she does, but is in no mood to speak to Welcomes just now. Assuming nothing distracts her, she plans to make a few cartridges. Let's say 3.

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
Kimiko plugs the core matrix of Koishin into the catridge manufacturer! It looks like she's got enough resonance for ten level 1 cartridges, two level 2, or one level 3! Three level 1s are easy to make, though, and they pop out of the slot in a row. The little cartridge devices are a dark red color.

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
Yuna gets a wave from Welcomes. "A lot less chaotic! So, maybe good, maybe bad. I like it, myself. Plenty to do to upgrade your equipment, with the combo frames and the forms and the cartridge-trades. What're you looking to enhance here, Miss?" He leans forward and smiles pleasantly, with genuine friendliness.

Auron (236) has posed:
Talking about someone who's done very little with their Abstractum... here comes Auron. It's not as if he hasn't wanted to. But he's not wanted to risk the weapon getting damaged during use while offline. And the Nodes have been quiet for some time, or things have been happening when he couldn't assist.

Anyway, he does want to see how Suchiru is doing. So it's to the Blue Wing he goes, since he's to understand that's the place to go for 'maintenance' on one's Abstractum. Do they need checkups, or tuneups? Auron doesn't know. But he heads there anyway.

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna smiles sheepishly, "That's one of the areas I need some more info on, actually ..."

Elner - who's been quietly fliting along next to Yuna - lets out a quiet sigh, but says nothing further.

Yuna ponders a bit, looking more like she's shopping than like she's trying to upgrade a potentially critical piece of equipment, or even a weapon. "Let's see ... combo frames would be for interlinking with other Abstractum, right? What can I do by way of a new form for Shining Prism? There's something that's been lingering in the back of my head ..."

She fingers her Abstractum again, gently. "What about it, Shining Prism? Do you think you'd make a good naginata?" she suggests - clearly seeking her Abstractum's input. It's Shining Prism who'll be able to change from this, after all - Yuna doesn't want to just impose it on her.

She spots Auron coming in, and waves to the swordsman whom she hasn't seen in a while. She's also cognizant of Kimiko's cartridge synthesis - she might make a couple of cartridges too, they seem like a useful thing to the other Abstractum Users.

Kimiko Shinobu (570) has posed:
Kimiko retrieves her cartridges, already thinking of what they'll be used for. Special occasions, of course, but... there is the question of 'who.' She can guess what effect they might have based on Koishin's Prime Resonance (or is that her own Prime Resonance, too?), but it'll take actually using them to see.

She gives a short bow to Yuna and Welcomes as she turns to go, and afterward a nod to Auron as she's walking. She's out the door, then, on her way to the Green Wing.

Auron (236) has posed:
Auron offers a polite nod to Yuna as she waves, though he doesn't approach yet, because he sees she's busy at the moment. And he steps to the side to be completely out of Kimiko's way, and nods to her in farewell. He'll wander over in Welcomes's direction, but again keeps quiet for the moment.

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
"Whether or not I'd be good as one," Shining Prism says. "Would be up to you. But I would not object in the least. Once we have enough red to fuel the form, I will certainly accept it." The tone is loyal and dedicated in the most simple way, but Prism seems to have no particular selfish preference one way or the other.

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
Welcomes gives a friendly wave to Auronn from behind the glass of his kisok. "Hi there!" He says, with a grin. "Anything I can help you with here?"

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna ehehs softly, "That's the question, though - how much Resonance do I have to work with ..."

She considers briefly, then steps away from Welcomes' kiosk - making room for Auron in the process - and goes over to the scanner, taking her Abstractum off so she can place Shining Prism in the scanner properly. More or less the same way Kimiko did it, right?

Auron (236) has posed:
"I just came to see how well Suchiru's doing," Auron replies to Welcomes. "I don't think much advancement has been had since I've been keeping it mostly protected rather than using it. I'm not sure if using it while it's offline will damage it or not."

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
"It would seem we've not accumulated chromatic Resonance yet." Shining Prism says, with some concern. "I think it's found other ways. It might involve the Nodes, or some of the facilities here." But the scan is free, it seems!

NAME: Shining Prism

PRIME RESONANCE: NOT YET ACTUALIZED

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
"Psssh. Not any more than any other sword. Long as you don't use that anime as hell edge-blocking technique, we won't have any problems. I can deal with a few nicks, and I won't even care if you do some sharpening after." The sword in Auron's hand says, with a casual upbeat tone. "Scanner will tell you if there's anything wrong, but I don't think there is. Believe me, guy, I'll just complain about it a ton if there's some problem." The blade almost seems a bit teasing.

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"Seems that way," Yuna says resignedly as she looks over the scanner readout. Hearing the others talk about the 'final boss dungeon' - the Core Node that one of the Homeworld representatives apparently told Homura about - only helps to drive home how far behind Yuna is on the proverbial level-grinding.

Well, she was away for a good reason ... or at least that's what Yuna keeps telling herself. She puts Shining Prism back on and moves away from the scanner, not entirely sure what else to do at this point.

Auron (236) has posed:
Edge-blocking? Auron looks out of his good eye at the sword, raising the brow of that eye. Does he even know what the term means? Well, 'anime' indicates it's probably something close to impossible.

When Yuna moves away from the scanner, Auron heads over to it, bringing Suchiru with him. Hopefully it won't be too hard to figure out...

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:

PRIME RESONANCE: NOT YET ACTUALIZED

Auron (236) has posed:
"Hm." Auron examines the readout with interest. "Drivers... what are those?" He might have been told some time ago, but he isn't quite sure if he remembers. The Abstractum are rather confusing at times. He's still learning about it all, though admittedly he should have figured some of this out. With these Abstractum it's not really useuly to jump to conclusions.

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"They're ... well," Yuna admits, rubbing the back of her head, "I'm not totally sure either, but they're the main combat functions for Abstractum. Strike Drivers are your offensive power, Barrier Drivers are defensive."

Elner says, "Yuna's Shining Prism has 2 Strike Drivers and 1 Barrier Driver, so you'd have comparable offensive power and stronger defense than hers." Elner looks at Yuna. "What about the 'Tac' Driver?"

"I figured that was the analysis function," says Yuna - although she promptly turns to Mr. Welcomes ... then winces a bit and looks down at her pendant. "Is that right, Shining Prism? The 'Tac Driver' is for how you analyze magic, or something like that? Or is it short for something else?"

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
"Oh, those amp up the Resonance, and the Resonance amps you up. Extra multiplier. I've got more than usual, to keep up with you. Tough stuff. The barrier's all defense. Long as you're taking a hit, I can help using Barrier. Strike's all offense. If you're dishing it out, I can make it better, at least in, y'know, physical damage. That's what's up with those, quick and simple." Suchiru says. "So long story short, I'm pretty good at you slamming me into stuff, and I'm a little better when you decide to jump in front of someone else's sword." Always the good humor there, though, despite the jokes there's a clear bit of respect.

Auron (236) has posed:
Auron turns to look at Yuna as she speaks up. He nods. "That makes sense." He's been called a 'tank' before, and a sword as wide as Suchiru was bound to be good for defense too. Suchiru speaks up as well, and Auron listens. That makes sense too. And he smirks a little at the mention of jumping in front of people's swords. "...I do that a lot," he acknowledges, humor in his voice.

"Are the Drivers called that because they're activated some way?" he inquires. "Or are they passive?"

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
"Tactical awareness." Shining Prism speaks up, to Yuna. "I improve accuracy, precision, using a combination of Strike and Tac drivers, in an uncommon way. It imrpoves my ability to predict movements for groups of enemies, and that sort of function. It's a kind of analysis, I believe you're mostly correct."

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna nods, smiling. "Thanks, Shining Prism." She looks over at Mr. Welcomes. "Some of the others are talking about pooling our Green Resonance for another upgrade to the facility; do I have *any* Green Resonance I could contribute towards that?"

This is one thing she really doesn't know if Shining Prism can answer or not. She looks over at Auron though, "It's kind of in-between - they activate Strife Drives when we're going into combat with our Abstractum 'awake' and responsive and boosting us, but I don't know if there's sub-activations for the Drivers in the middle of that or whether the effect is sustained continuously. I guess it might be a 'behind-the-scenes' thing, something that our Abstractum just do without calling attention to it specifically."

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
"We've gotta power them up, but we can do that near instant. Good to have them running passively when you're in a fight, but not all the time. Not that it's too big a drain or anything. It's just /really/ rude." Suchiru says, with a grin-like expression to its eye. "Like running around swinging a sword in your hands? Good for the battlefield. Not really everywhere else. I got it covered, you don't need to worry. Just gimmie a shout if they're not on and you need 'em on."

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
"Hmmm. We've only got a small amount, but it seems most of their business was covered. Kimiko's bracer tells me that she contributed most of their final necessities. Our chromarchetype is red, so we've only got a small quantity of blue and green." Shining Prism says, with an almost secretarial tone. "There might be another way to find more, though, if you need something."

"Oh! Just now, actually. There's a recycler in the Red Wing now, you can recycle old artifacts of conflict that have accumulated large amounts of resonance through playing major roles in battles, or things like that. It'll let you draw out a little more if you need it." That's Mr. Welcomes, calling out from his kisok again helpfully. "They just added it today, actually!"

Auron (236) has posed:
"Good question," Auron adds to Yuna's question. "I doubt I have any Green Resonance either, but if I do I'll offer it." Yuna's explanation of the Drivers gets a nod. "I see. Explains the 'Powering Strife Drives' that I've heard from Suchiru." That's what it says when it 'powers on', right? Suchiru's explanation further confirms it, and he smirks. "Makes sense." Having them powered seems like it's the equivalent of walking around with weapons out, and that generally insinuates willingness or desire to hurt something.

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"Mmm ..." Yuna looks at Mr. Welcomes, "I don't think I have any artifacts that I'd want to sacrifice for Resonance ... or is this a non-destructive conversion, like some artifacts people have used for their Nodes?"

It seems like it all comes back to Nodes, doesn't it? Yuna's thoughts drift back to her native Earth, and the stretch of cosmos that got rearranged into the Multiverse with Unification. There are a few mementoes that come to mind ... and one treasure she's been keeping safe ever since one of the most horrible days of her life.

Auron (236) has posed:
Auron gives a thoughtful 'hm'. "There might be something that I can bring," he replies. "If the item doesn't have to be from a Node, but can be from our world. There's a thousand years of ruins in Spira that no one wants; should be worth something." Yes, he's totally willing to 'sell' Spira's past for Resonance. It's not doing Spira any good, so he might as well use it for something where it CAN do some good.

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
"Oh no, definitely destructive. Next time you mount a massive campaign against some horrifying monster over the course of weeks and months, try pulling its heart out, one of those would do the trick!" Welcomes says, grinning and giving Yuna a wink and a thumbs-up. "Or, you know, sentimental things, dungeon loot, all that sort of stuff. Won't be worth much of anything if you don't work hard for it for a while though, or if it doesn't have a lot of... Hmmmm... Memory to it, I suppose is the word? Needs a lot of memory to it."

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna shakes her head. "There's only one thing I can think of that might qualify from my own past adventures, and - that's not a treasure I'm willing to destroy for anything," she says. "I'll just have to get back into the loop with the Nodes, I guess."

Auron (236) has posed:
Auron nods to Welcomes. "Then there are several things I have that can be exchanged," he replies. Reaching into his coat, he produces a blue sphere with a golden base that makes it able to be set down without it rolling away. The whole thing is about the size of a closed fist. "Where would I go to do that?"

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
"That'd be the red wing! Head on over there sometime, there should be a big machine on the opposite wall, looks like a big wood chipper you humans use. Don't worry, it doesn't actually grind it up, but you wouldn't really get it back. You're a red type, so you'll mostly get red resonance out of it, but you'll probably get about the same amount of blue and green total out of it too." Mr. Welcomes says, grinning and speaking in encouraging tones as he leans forward to look at the artifact. "Can't say I could tell you how much you'll get 'till you try it, just depends on how important it is sentimentally now, or before. Long as there's a lot of memories in it, then it's picked up a lot of chromatic resonance inside it."

Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna bows slightly to Mr. Welcomes, "Thanks for your help again tonight. And good luck with your Abstractum, Auron," she adds with a smile to the swordsman. "I think I'd better be heading back, though. I'll be trying to get more involved with the Nodes again."

Auron (236) has posed:
Auron holds up the blue sphere for Welcomes to see better. "This is a memory sphere," he explains. "Its purpose is to record memories. This one contains memories of an incident that changed my life." Pause. "Rather, I should say... ended it." He is speaking, of course, of his memories of being killed by Yunalesca.

Yuna bids farewell, and Auron nods. "Take care, Yuna." It still feels odd saying that, and the irony brings the ghost of a smile to his face. "Let me know the next time you'll be involved, I'll come to support you if you want," he offers.

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
Auron's orb is peered at. "Huh. Could work, in a way." Mr. Welcomes says. "Not exactly the kind of memories we mean, it usually means more like... Hmmmm... History? Like the personal helm of some overlord, the legendary sword of some kind of hero, the head of some horrible monster, that sort of thing. It's something with a history, a legend, an artifact. But, that does sound pretty heavy! It could be worth something, who knows." Mr. Welcomes seems both sheepish and friendly here. "Just see how it goes, if you don't mind losing it. Definitely won't be a negative, you know."

Auron (236) has posed:
Auron nods, puts the sphere away. "Hm. I could do that as well. Remiem Temple, the Omega Ruins, the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth, the Scar-- there are plenty of places that have history. Even soil from the Calm Lands might work." It had seen five battles against Sin, after all. "I'll come back with it when I have a few things that could suffice." A polite nodto Welcomes. "Thank you."

Abstractum.Net (347) has posed:
Mr. Welcomes gives a friendly wave! "See you, in that case! Good luck with it, man, hope it turns out okay!"
